#or any of the other hypoallergenic breeds
Note
wait whats wrong with poodle mixes?
doodle fans are known for not caring about genetic screenings or breeding based on temperament, and even more commonly just crossing poodles with breeds distant enough that the outcome is too wide a spectrum to reliably predict.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with doodles themselves in a vacuum, but they’re a fad “designer dog” breed right now. Greeders (greedy breeders) make all sorts of lofty promises to first-time dog owners. They claim every doodle is hypoallergenic (they aren’t) and doesn’t shed (they absolutely shed). They say they’re the perfect lovable family dog (that really depends on training and hoping the greeder didn’t breed a child-aggressive dog). They say they’re easy to train (not inherently, poodles tend to train easy but that doesn’t mean the mutt produced when crossing them with any other breed will be). They say they’re low maintenance (doodles typically have coats that mat VERY easily and must be brushed thoroughly 1-2 times daily, I have never seen a doodle keeper actually do this and if you see doodles in public or online they’re often matted from toe to tip, then yeh owner complains when a groomer has to literally shave the entire dog to get it free of mats).
Doodles are just genuinely a scam. It’s not the fault of the dogs, and a doodle has just as much capability to be an excellent companion dog as any other mutt, but they rarely get that chance because they’re bought on impulse to keep up with the growing fad. The greeders producing them are con artists who intentionally target first-time and uneducated dog owners because they’re an easier mark. Since they give poor advice to clients, many of these clients have no idea how to train their dogs or how to deal with socialization and behavior issues as they arise. That’s where you get the completely neurotic nightmares vets and pet groomers think about when they hear a doodle has an appointment.
Doodles also attract the most annoying elitist white women on the planet who will try to gun you down for saying poodle mix or mutt instead of doodle.

Hoping for the curly coated retriever to take group tonight for the sake of the actual breed that SHOULD have become popular instead of the doodle and is instead in massive decline <3

The one that got away (2)
Tumblr media
Summary: Your best friend breaks your heart.
Pairing: AU!Dean Winchester x fem!Reader
Warnings: angst, past unrequited feelings, regret, reunion
A/N: This is a little gift for @elle14-blog1 for her birthday. It’s today, so happy birthday, lovely. And, I decided to turn this story into a mini-series. 😁
Catch up here: The one that got away (1)
The one that got away masterlist
Tumblr media
The one that got away. Dean scribbled the words on his notebook over, and over again during the conference.
He didn’t hear a thing you and your assistant or the other people said. All he did was stare at you, his former best friend.
“Damn, sweetheart,” he curses under his breath. “You are rocking that conference, huh? All eyes seem to be glued to you.”
“What?” You ask as Dean seems to talk to himself. “Did you hear me? I asked if you could hand me the laser pointer.”
“What?” Just now Dean realizes you are standing right in front of him.
“The laser pointer,” you sigh and point at the laser pointer. “You are trying to write with it. It’s mine and I need it for the last part of my presentation.”
“Oh, sorry. I thought it was my pen,” he sheepishly looks at the laser pointer in his hand. Dean huffs. He’s not himself today. Not at all. Usually, he’s controlled and can keep his shit together, even if his life is falling apart once more. Not today.
“No problem,” you fake a smile. “I know you like to grab shit that doesn’t belong to you and charm your way out of it.” You give him an icy smile. “So, enjoy the rest of the conference.”
Dean hums, and watches you walk back toward your assistant. He shakes his head. If only he could shake off the feeling that he lost something more than his best friend when he let you go.
His heart beats out of his chest when you look his way. You drop your gaze and pucker your lips. A habit he learned to love.
“She’s good,” the guy next to him tries to make conversation. “No wonder she got the promotion. Smart, cute, and pretty. A pity she doesn’t go out with colleagues…or anyone else. Maybe I should ask her out one day.”
“You better not,” Dean grunts. “I heard she’s got a boyfriend.” He dips his head to glare at the man.
“Really. Crap, I’ve missed my chance. I can’t believe she found someone. Last month she was still single.”
“Well, her best friend came back into the picture and laid claim on this beautiful woman,” Dean narrows his eyes, a silent warning for your admirer. “She’s taken, buddy. You should move on to someone else.”
Tumblr media
The conference goes on for another two hours, but you are ready to hide in your bed and sleep for hours. The adrenaline helping you through the conference and the encounter is wearing off and you are just tired and heartbroken.
“Ready to leave this place?” Dean suddenly stands behind you to look over your shoulder. “I thought we could grab a snack or have dinner tonight.”
You turn around to face the man who broke your heart years ago.
“Do you honestly believe I want to have dinner with you? We haven’t seen each other for a year. Now we are meeting again, and you want what? Rekindle? Become my friend again? What do you want, Dean?”
He sighs. “Sweetheart, I know I hurt you back then, but can we not talk? I’ve missed my best friend. Please, give me one chance. If you don’t want to see me again, I’ll leave you alone.”
“Promised?” You size Dean up. “If I don’t like what you have to say, you will let me go and never bug me again.”
“I cross my heart and swear it, Y/N,” Dean crosses his fingers behind his back. He finally met you again, and he’d be damned if he risks losing you again.
Tumblr media
“So…” Dean looks at the food in front of him. “How have you been? Any pets? Men? New hobbies?”
“I’ve got two cats,” you smirk darkly. “And they are not a hypoallergenic breed. If you get too close to them you’ll die.”
“I won’t die,” he smirks and scoots a little closer to you. “Only sneeze a little. Sneezing can be damn sexy, sweetheart. You can help me blow my nose and all.”
You chuckle and steal a fry from his plate, earning a slap to your hand. “Hey!”
“I don’t share my food,” Dean grunts. “I mean, if we were on a date, I’d share my food.” He snickers when you steal another fry. “I was joking, Y/N.” Dean hastily says when you make a face. “You really think the worst of me, huh? I didn’t change so much. I always shared my food with you.”
“I remember our last encounter vividly, Dean,” you snap at him and hate yourself for it seconds later. “Sorry, that wasn’t fair. It’s not your fault that I was in love with you back then.”
“Back then?” He quirks a brow. “You mean, that you’re over me?” Dean shifts in his seat.
“Dean, it’s been years. Maybe I had a crush on you but—” you bite your tongue. It’s hard to think straight close to him. If you let slip that your heart still aches for him, he will break it all over again. It’s better to pretend that you don’t love him anymore.
“That wasn’t a crush,” he grabs your hand and holds it in his hands. “That was love…is love. I mean…” Dean sighs. “I don’t know how to describe it. But when I saw you today, you took my breath away.”
“Dean,” you whisper.
“No, no sweetheart. Hear me out. Back then I was a young man and a fool,” he squeezes your hand. “I know you still feel it, our connection.”
“Dean, stop.” You struggle to keep a straight face. “What’s past is past.”
“Maybe we could go somewhere else than the cafeteria to talk. Please,” Dean gives you a cracked smile. “I still know your favorite food.”
“I still know yours too,” you smirk. “Pie.” You both laugh at that. “You said something about Baby.” You dip your head. “If you offer a ride, we can have dinner together.”

hi! i really hope this doesn't come off as rude, it really isn't my intention!!! but when talking about the new breeding tendencies of maine coons, both you and some links talk about maine coons being hunting, working cats, or a functional as opposed to an ornamental breed, and even having thick coats because they need them to keep warm in winter. my question is what does that really mean? what are working cats exactly since they're not particularly good mousers and most of their hunting is decimating local wildlife? why would they need to keep warm when they shouldn't really be let outside generally speaking, and even if they were (which i mean a good breeder would not sell their pedigree cat to someone who'd let it outside willy nilly for hunting purposes hopefully), would it really matter that much since people ultimately buy maine coons in many climates, many of which not particularly cold?
like i don't want to imply that cat breeds are purely ornamental, of course there's factors like personality, medical predispositions, hypoallergenic qualities etc etc that are relevant, but i (as far as my knowledge goes) wouldn't really say that cat breeds have different working abilites (at least in any relevant way) since well, i'm not sure what an efficient, working cat that is safely kept is.
anyway i was just confused about this, again, hope this doesnt sound rude or anything, and i do agree that the direction maine coon breeding has taken is not great at all! this is not meant to be any sort of counter argument to that, i just don't really understand what a working cat is in these contexts as opposed to like. other cat breeds or just a normal pet cat.
Why does a reputable breeder aim to produce functional German Shepherd’s even when they’re going to pet or otherwise non-working homes?
The Maine Coon is a functional breed in the same way. No, it isn’t appropriate to allow any cat to free-range regardless of breed… but the Maine Coon should still be bred to a standard where they would be able to.
Just like a German Shepherd who never herds a day in their life should still have the temperament and build to he able to.
Maine Coon’s aren’t bred to the same standards as ‘ornamental’ breeds like Persians for the same reason working-type dogs aren’t bred to the same standards as companion/toy breeds like the Papillon even if all of them are destined for pet homes.

If you have a poodle or doodle or most any other “hypoallergenic” dog you MUST get them groomed, this is not a suggestion, it is not OPTIONAL, it is MANDATORY!
It is part of the breed’s BASIC CARE!!! Matting of the hair is painful for the dog! It can restrict their movement and cause serious hygiene issues! Allowing your dog to become overgrown and matted is irresponsible at best and abusive at worst!!
GROOM! YOUR! DOODLES/POODLES!

hiya pia! I just saw your new puppy on Instagram!! congrats, he's so cute! I was just wondering, is he a rescue?
cuddles to him and Maybe 🤗
Hi anon,
He's not a rescue! We've always had rescue cats, which is actually part of the reason we can't get a rescue dog, lol. I'm about to talk a lot about it, so get ready! Lol
So firstly, in Western Australia, poodle x rescue puppies don't really exist at all in rescue organisations , and Glen and I are both allergic to highly shedding dogs as well as dogs with very short hair, and we needed a trainable / biddable puppy because we have a cat with a lot of behavioural issues. We've had to litter test each litter of puppies we've met with to see which ones were suitable / not suitable with our allergy issues.
Unlike other places in the world, poodles are actually very hard to find here, and as someone who's had my eyes on rescue organisations on and off for 10 years I can say with a lot of confidence we were never going to find a non-shedding puppy or dog without significant behavioural issues in a rescue. It was nearly impossible before the pandemic, and it's been impossible since.
Western Australia has a dog breed bottleneck, because before frozen sperm existed, most people had to pay around $10,000 to get a new dog of any kind because of the flight fees. On top of that, we have the strictest quarantine in the world. Any dogs to introduce new genetic lineages into a breed from overseas had to spend three months in a concrete cell, with no comforts and only allowed short visits per day. As a result, many of these dogs developed behavioural issues.
But this has meant that some purebreeds don't exist at all in Western Australia, or are just extremely uncommon. There's no medium poodles in Western Australia. There's only two active miniature poodle breeders. Borzoi aren't here. The list of like... fairly common dogs that don't exist here, or only exist in small numbers, is huge. And this means what filters into the rescues tends to be the most popular breeds - staffies, kelpies, malamutes, huskies, german shepherds, labradors and their mixes - all dogs we can't have as pets :(
So, we looked into purebreeds for a long time, and fell in love with some standard poodle puppies we met several months ago, but they were just too big for our cottage, and for our 12 year old 'I have so many behavioural issues Pia learned clicker training just to manage me' rescue cat.
We actually consulted with a trainer who specialises in PTSD dogs quite a few months ago before making this decision and deciding on Tobermory, and she was the one who suggested we go this path.
Rescues are great, I'm a huge rescue animal proponent, I've worked in both wild animal rehabilitation, animal fostering, and in animal rescue at various times in my life. For most people who aren't dealing with allergies (and keeping in mind that a low-shedding dog isn't hypoallergenic! Glen and I are still having allergic reactions, they're just not hives or asthma attacks, and we can manage congestion/breathing issues etc. with antihistamines + rescue inhalers), or who don't already have problem pets to worry about, it's absolutely one of the first avenues people should try!
But puppies from reputable and trustworthy breeders (whether mixes or purebreed) are often bred for qualities that can be more reliable in people who are trying to meet certain needs. And I advocate people go in that direction too if that's the only way they can have or live with a dog. Especially if they can meet with the breeder, meet the parents, meet the puppies multiple times, see (and check) health testing results, and those dogs are being registered, if not through a Purebreed Register (which honestly guarantees nothing except conformation, and often puts health and sometimes even temperament by the wayside), then through a reputable Register that has a code of ethics where you can report a breeder for poor practices and trust that they will be held accountable.
A small fluffy cutesy dog is actually not my favoured kind of dog in terms of how he looks. If I were picking a dog for cosmetic reasons, it'd be such a different dog!! :D I prefer borzoi, or leonbergers (two dogs that don't exist here), or landseer newfoundlands (doesn't exist here), or large munsterlanders (doesn't exist here) etc.
But in terms of temperament and what we need him for? He's perfect. Plus I can still breathe through my nose today and I'm not covered in hives, which is a win!
Anyway, I realise I could've answered this with a short 'no he's not a rescue' lol, but I feel like a lot of folks don't understand what it's like in Western Australia, one of the most isolated major cities in the whole world geographically, and what that means for genetic bottlenecks, issues with finding certain kinds of dogs in rescue, and how the chances of finding a rescue that works can drastically plummet if you're already dealing with pets that have stress, anxiety, and behavioural issues at home.
Maybe was this kind of rescue. She would have been euthanased before we got her. In fact she was literally 20 minutes away from being put to sleep, before we got her. She went on to develop multiple behavioural issues being a multigen feral with Bengal background, which is a pretty bad combo in Western Australian bushland (multigen feral cats are something else here, and have been mistaken for mountain lines in the bush). She's needed intensive and time-consuming management since we got her, and it means every other animal around her needs to be as easy to manage as humanly possible.
But yeah it's put me in an interesting quandary for about 7 years? Longer? At any rate, TL;DR not a rescue! :D

Been looking into cat genetics because I've been fine around several solid black and solid blue cats but all other colors of cats make my eyes and throat swell shut. The thing is, no one ever believes me until I start having a bad reaction to their cat. They just think I have an aesthetic preference. I read on your big coat genetics post though that solid is aa and that blue is dilute black and I am so excited there might be a genetic basis for this. I have been doing research all night and have found that brown, cinnamon, fawn , and cream may also share the same genes, but I haven met any of those to test. I was just hoping you may have some input as to whether this makes any sense?
Hm, this is very interesting. However first of all: i don't known anything about medicine, please don't base any of your decisions on my guesses.
I've never heard that hypoallergenicity would depend on color. (While different colors can have different pigment molecules in their fur, cat allergy is usually a reaction to the proteins in the saliva, not the hair.) But i know there are big differences in the level of hypoallergenicity even between individuals of the same breed, and it's a heritable trait. How many black and blue cats did you have positive experience with? Could they been related?
The only difference i know between solid blacks and tabbies is that the latter have pheomelanin. What is your reaction to black-and-white cats? If they also trigger your allergy, it's probably not a color thing, since they have the very same pigments and everything as full-colored black cats, only in less amount. If you're good with them, well... then you have a very curious case of cat allergy. I really don't know.

15 people, 15 questions
Tagged by @my-rose-tinted-glasses, @infinitelyprecious and @he-is-lightning-in-a-bottle! Thank you friends 💕
1. are you named after anyone?
Nope! My folks just liked the name they chose for me. They did the thing where they tried to choose a name that they thought would be unique and ended up with one of the most common names in the year, for both me and my brother.
2. when was the last time you cried?
Watching the What Did You Eat Yesterday S2 finale.
3. do you have kids?
Nope! Never wanted any, so I'm happy with the status quo.
4. what sports do you play/have you played?
HA. Here we go. In elementary school I was on a neighbourhood softball team and was terrible; in the end of year tournament, we were two outs and I was at bat and struck out for us to lose, which soured me on this game permanently. I also took neighbourhood tennis lessons and sucked at that too though I really did try. In middle school I was on the basketball team because I was tall and the coach was convinced I could learn hand/eye coordination....she was wrong. I am a decent defense player because height lets me block but I cannot land a foul shot to save my life (or my team's). For fun during lunch l I played [American] football with other enthusiasts. We would play tackle in all weather and on pavement, and we had a great time (I wasn't good but I enjoyed it). By high school I had finally convinced everyone around me I have no hand/eye coordination or physical skill and stopped all sports activities. PHEW. These days I do no sports though I will go to my company slo-pitch games and heckle like heckling's a sport.
5. do you use sarcasm?
Absolutely, but I try not to use it in that mean way in which people try to make someone feel bad about themselves.
6. what’s the first thing you notice about people?
Body language, how they hold themselves and move.
7. what’s your eye color?
Close to slate grey/blue.
8. scary movies or happy endings?
I don't respect this false dichotomy.
Tumblr media
9. any talents?
My superpower is the ability to sing along to any song whether or not I've heard it before, and whether or not I know the language. Other than that, I'm pretty good at understanding what people are trying to say and not just what they actually said, which comes in handy in show analysis as well as interpersonal communication and work. And I am good at modifying/adapting recipes to use what I've got/what I like on the fly. Those are my core talents!
10. where were you born?
Toronto, Canada
11. what are your hobbies?
Other than watching All The BL/GL/QL? I am crafty, I like playing with mixed media stuff, lap weaving, and bookmaking/bookbinding. I haven't had the energy for it the last few years, and that's been mildly devastating. But I made holiday cards for the first time in years this year, which was very fun! I also have been known to puzzle, and I garden when I can. And I hike on occasion!
12. do you have any pets?
Nope! I'm allergic to most pets (fur and feathers; I tried keeping fish but was allergic to the algae on the tank, so I gave up). The dog in my avatar is my parents' rescue dog they got after I left home, and I see her when I visit them! She's a "hypoallergenic" breed mix but that's actually meaningless and I'm still allergic lol
13. how tall are you?
180cm; and the kicker is I've been this tall since elementary school so I went from being the tallest person in the room by a LOT to half the boys in the room shooting up to my height or higher, which was a weird experience!
14. favorite subject in school?
Tie between English, Biology, and Chemistry. I loved science and words and analysis in both subjects. I ran the bio and chem clubs in high school!
15. dream job?
University textbook editor, which I did for ~7 years! And it was everything I wanted it to be, but I eventually outgrew it. I love what I do now too (essentially I'm in management), and I know I'm lucky that I've had jobs I love for most of my working life.
I won't tag anyone because I've been absent for days, but if you see this, this is permission to do this tag game, and tag me so I see your post 💕

Do you have any new adventures with bean?
Not so much an "adventure" as a "We all knew this day was coming, but now what do we do about it?" moment, but have the story nonetheless. (Because it is occupying my thoughts nonstop, mostly because she won't let it go.)
Picture this: It is bedtime for a young girl who historically hates bedtime. Because of this, we have done up her room with what one would consider The Works--blackout curtains, white noise machine, specifically-requested rainbow nightlight, and a brand new Big Girl Bed with a fancy headboard full of cubbies, which house her many stuffed animals/bedtime buddies.
Every night, she chooses one of these friends to sleep with (which may or may not get swapped three or four times throughout the night, because she is my child after all and indecision runs in our veins like a wild horse through a dewy morning field). This particular night, I ask "Which toy would you like to sleep with?" and she cheerfully says, "Duck."
Not a toy duck, mind you. It is a plushy cat named Duck, whom she loves very very much. Her other toy cat is named Toast. She is very good at naming things. But moving on.
She snuggles up with Duck the Cat, and I prepare to tell a bedtime story as usual. But something is wrong. In the pastel-neon glow of her rainbow nightlight, I see her eyes begin to well up. Her forehead wrinkles. Her eyebrows crease over a nose that is rapidly turning red beneath its smattering of freckles.
I am as confused as I am concerned. The protests and sorrows don't usually begin until after story time, when kisses and night-nights have been deployed. More importantly, they're usually all performative. But this is genuine sorrow.
Before I can open my mouth to ask what is wrong, she turns her watery baby blues on me and chokes out, "Mama, I'm sad."
I ask, "Why are you sad, baby?"
She looks from me, to her precious Duck the Cat, lying silent and still beside her on the pillow, and places a tiny hand on the plush, overstuffed head.
"Duck is my pretend pet cat. I'm sad because there is not a real cat." And she once more fixes me with a weepy, heartbreaking look of soul-crushing despair and says the words I have long dreaded: "I want to have a real pet cat."
Y'all, her dad is allergic to cats.
I'm not talking "sneezes and sniffles" allergies, either. I'm talking "was rushed to the ER as a child," "breaks out in full-body hives," "has full-blown reactions from simply interacting with people who have recently held a cat" kind of allergies. His allergies are so severe and sensitized that he essentially functions as radar for cat owners: hug someone and wait for the sniffles and itchiness. It never fails. There is no way this man could ever coexist in a house with a cat for longer than a few hours while doped up on benadryl, even one of the "hypoallergenic" breeds (which is very misleading and dangerous misinformation, but that's a whole other post in itself).
I mean, it's not like we can have a pet right now anyway. We live in a no-animals housing situation. We're also likely to move cross-country by the end of the year or early next, which would be difficult on any animal. I'm working on finding the right meds for my ADHD, my husband is running around to post-op PT and followups, Bean is dealing with her own specialty appointments for her gastric issues. It's just not a great time to bring in a pet. But the one-- the only one-- we could never have in our house to begin with is the one that my daughter happens to catch a Pining for at a grand 3.5 years old, which is, perhaps, the worst possible age to try and explain the many reasons we should not/cannot have a pet right now. Especially the one she wants.
The wee one knows Dad can't be around cats. That's part of why she was so sad. But the Pack-Bond Longing has officially come upon her, and she wants a pet. Really, really wants a pet.
Unfortunately, she comes by it naturally. My husband and I are both Animal People to the core. We run the Slimy Critter Rescue Brigade when it rains. Despite crippling anxiety disorders, I once skipped classes and made 3 hours worth of phone calls (as well as sacrificed my favorite handmade jacket) to catch an injured seagull that tried to take my face off multiple times. Her dad can't resist petting a cat if it comes within his line of sight even though he knows good and well it will have severe consequences. I have broken housing rules multiple times to care for injured or orphaned animals, only some of which were domestic pet species.
So it's not just her. We are all in Deep Mourning at the moment. It doesn't help that our brilliant genius child remembers the kinds of animals that Dad is not allergic to. She tells us at least once a day that she really wants to have a pet, and it is okay that we cannot have a cat in our house because Dad is not allergic to lizards/some dogs/fishes/birds/snakes/guinea pigs (that appears to be in order of desire), so maybe we can have one of those animals for a pet.
Worse, any one of us technically qualifies for an ESA to bypass the housing issue.
As the adults, we're trying really hard to be strong and think of the best thing for an animal, which does not include entering into a household in transition and likely to uproot soon.
But she's right and speaks for all of us: "I want a real pet animal to be in my house." :(

Top 5 dog breeds you would not own? You wanted to answer this one :P
Skjdjdjdkskskd woaG it's like u read my mind anon! How did u do that?? Totally did not say that in the previous ask tags u just magic! Incredible!
But ok let's goo:
PUG! Do i need to explain myself? I don't think i do. Unless mixed with something to help their health issues, i would never intentionally own one
Shih Tzu - several reasons i don't even know where to start. Also being a breed with short snout is one, but the main thing for me is that they're EVERYWHERE where I live. You can't walk around without being barked and lunged at by a shih tzu behind a gate or on walks. My aunt is also my neighbor and she has three, they're absolutely adorable lil fluffy loafs, but anything they see their bark is almost unstoppable. They're very cute! But the fact they're everywhere also puts me off bc it feels they're being over-bred by people who don't know better and aggravating their health and behavior issues.
Dachshund - they're one of the breeds with the loudest bark, created to make noise to alert hunters. I would also worry about grabbing them the wrong way and injuring their backs owo'' i don't think i would manage that well
Yorkshire Terrier - it's a mix between the two previous dogs reasons. Loud and worryingly everywhere! I also had another relative who had three at the same time (rest in peace babies <3 visiting them feels quiet now bc they're not there) and while they were adorable and i loved to see them, and arriving at their place was nightmare bc of noise and mess, i would always leave having allergic reactions if we stayed for too long (i don't even know how since Yorkies are told to be hypoallergenic! Probably the pee everywhere). While I think most of their problems were from not ideal care, i just didn't have the best experiences being around them
Husky - Look look... I've been actually walking my cousin's husky for a couple of weeks now. I wake up at 7am, and 7:30 I'm at their house to play and train, at 8am we leave for an 1h+ walk. SHE'S LOVELY! Cute, smart, funny, and beautiful! We get so many compliments in our walks. But goof lord she's stubborn, she's a jumper, she's a nipper, she's a stubborn, she's a leash puller, she rains fur behind her where she goes, did i mention stubborn? I think when it comes to huskies, she is actually very well behaved! She's responding well to the limited amateur training i can give her. She is not reactive at all and thankfully doesn't care about any trash or other dog's poop on the floor. But i don't think my arms and legs and eardrums would survive owning one dkdkkf

Seven Dog Breeds That I, An Experienced Dog Lover and Owner, Hate With A Burning Passion
Reminder that this is only my opinion and not to be taken seriously. Most of these are owner related problems, not dog problems because I believe there is no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner
Tagging @tessherongraystairs @petalsofaflower-shutupthomas
1. Pomeranians
Number one is the Pomeranian. I really fucking hate these dogs because they are super aggressive for such a tiny dog if you don’t train and socialize them right. They’re the human form of demons from hell and I stand by that opinion. For the love of God, please just socialize your tiny dogs!!!
2. German Shepherds
If you didn’t know, my worst enemy is a German Shepherd named Bella, who bit me while I was hugging my grandfather. She broke through my very expensive leggings and caused puncture wounds to my leg. That’s an extremely personal reason to dislike the breed as a whole but I stand by it.
Btw I grew up around German Shepherds and they are a dog breed that needs heavy training, time, and effort. Which is something a lot of people don’t realize, despite the fact that they are the K-9 dog of choice
3. Labrador Retrievers & Golden Retrievers
Yes, I am aware that these are two different breeds, but my reasoning is the same with both of them. Most people assume because of the retriever breed having such a naturally sweet disposition that they don’t need a lot of training, so they slack on it. Just like any other dog, retrievers need good training and socialization to be good pets.
Speaking from experience, most labs and goldens I’ve met have been severely under trained and are extremely destructive and/or aggressive towards people and dogs. I don’t blame the dogs, I blame the owners. This one is strictly because I feel that people need to stop getting dogs because they seem “easy” and then not putting the work in
4. Bloodhounds
This is another strictly personal one. One of my aunts owns a bloodhound and I can’t stand that dog. She is the loudest thing I have ever met and I live with a chihuahua. You can literally hear her as soon as you pull into my aunt’s neighborhood.
FYI, bloodhounds don’t bark, they bay. They literally have their own word to describe how loud they are. Look up a video of a bloodhound baying, you’ll regret it
5. Doodle Dogs (Any dog that has a name ending in doodle)
I feel like this one will offend a lot of people but I hate doodle dogs. And I have one word to say: hypoallergenic.
Every doodle owner I have met loves to mention that their dog is hypoallergenic, like every single time without fail. It wouldn’t annoy me as much if it was true, but it isn’t. There’s no such thing as hypoallergenic animal. They produce less dander, yes, but you can still be allergic to them
Same thing applies to hairless cats, they have oils in their skin that people can be allergic to
6. Beagle Mixes
And before anyone says “But Riley, don’t you have a beagle mix?”, yes, I do have one, and she’s the reason they’re on this list. Beagles already aren’t that great of a dog breed (in my opinion) and I don’t know why people see the need to mix them with every other breed under the sun, especially since beagles are known for their numerous health problems
I honestly don’t get it. Like who decided to mix a French Bulldog (another dog with health issues) and a Beagle together? Idk but that’s what happened to get my dog
7. Yorkie Mixes (Yorkie = Yorkshire Terrier)
I should preface this one with how much I love yorkies in general. I’ve always wanted one and I would probably get one when I’m older. They do have the same issues as the Pomeranians but this isn’t about that.
People tend to love to mix yorkies with other smalls dogs. Chihuahuas, poodles, dachshunds, Maltese, etc. Let me tell you, mixing two stubborn and feisty dog breeds together doesn’t work out well at all
Like seriously, a chihuahua and a yorkie together? All you get is a tiny little hell-raiser who loves to dig everything. Dirt, the carpet, your couch, everything they can and they will.
Seriously, stop messing around with yorkies
I have a specific hatred for Maltipoos but that is a story for another time

On the apparently controversial topic of Dean's cat allergy
Sup. I have no idea how posting on Tumblr works, so of course in true me fashion, I decided controversy was the way to go. Anyway, I read about people complaining about continuity and such.
In the episode with Bela's cat (s. 3 e. 3) said cat is a Siamese. Which is actually a hypoallergenic breed of cat. I looked it up to make sure. "Another hypoallergenic cat is the Siamese. While there are zero non-shedding cats, this blue-eyed feline has a short coat that doesn’t shed heavily. This means they don’t produce as many allergens as some other breeds." (quote from petMD). Meaning being around this cat might not trigger a person's allergies.
In the episode where Dean is as jumpy as, well a cat, as a result of the ghost virus, thing (s. 4 e. 6). He is near that cat for at most ten seconds. I personally, have a pretty bad dog allergy, and I have to be around a dog for a lot longer than ten seconds before anything happens. I realize this my not apply to everyone, but that's my example. Plus from what I remember he wasn't very close to that cat.
I really don't mean this in a bad way. I'm not trying to say my opinion is better than anyone else. I'm just saying there are reasons why maybe his allergies weren't acting up. Maybe he took allergy meds those days. Who knows? I certainly don't. I'm just pointing out reasons why maybe his allergies weren't causing him any problems in those scenes.

We all know doodles. Golden doodles, labradoodles, aussie doodles, oh my! They’re all the rage right now! But what if I told you that there is a new breed, with all of the good qualities of the doodles and none of the bad??
Introducing the German Water Retriever (GWR)!
They come in three sizes: standard, miniature, and toy! A common concern among doodle owners is there is never a size guarantee; your beloved miniature golden doodle puppy may end up weighing 50lbs as an adult! Not to worry with the GWR, each of the three sizes has a weight guarantee: toy sized will only get up to 17lbs, minis will be 26-31lbs, and for those who like big dogs, the standard German Water Retriever can reach between 44 and 71lbs!
They are often hypoallergenic! Dog allergies stem from proteins in dog dander or saliva. GWR have a unique curly coat that sheds only minimally and they tend to produce fewer allergens than other breeds! While many doodles often sport a hypoallergenic title, there is no guarantee that they will be hypoallergenic—and many end up producing just as many allergens as any other breed.
They are incredibly intelligent! As retrievers, these dogs are known for their drive to work. However, they are also incredibly versatile and eager to please and have been taught everything from circus tricks to personal protection! These additional talents prove that the GWR is more intelligent than golden or Labrador retrievers—and therefore more intelligent than their golden or labradoodle offspring.
They make great family dogs! Speaking of labs and goldens, it is relatively common knowledge that retrievers can make excellent family pets. German Water Retrievers are specifically bred to have a stable temperament, which means when you add a GWR to your family you can be sure that you are getting a quality bred dog who will suit your family perfectly. Their athleticism means they’re ready to keep up with kids or join you for any adventure, while their stable temperament give them an off switch for relaxation time.
Their coat! While doodle coats tend to vary drastically from dense and curly to fine and fluffy, GWR always have a dense, curly coat that grows continuously. This coat can be worn in any style! Love the fluffy faced look of doodles? You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a GWR and a doodle! Looking for something easy to maintain? Shave them short: no brushing needed! Want to test your creativity? Have fun with funky hairdos and dyed fur! This breed is among the most popular for creative grooming!
They come with health guarantees! Some doodles do, some don’t. GWR breeders health test generations back and breed only the healthiest dogs. The test results are displayed online in the OFA database for prospective puppy purchasers to confirm for themselves!
They come in many different colors! While they don’t come in merle like an aussiedoodle could, they come in everything from white to red to brown to black and so many shades in between! There are also some color patterns they can come in as well, such as phantom, silver, or parti if registered under the United Kennel Club!
Interested in owning a German Water Retriever? Wondering how this seemingly amazing breed has remained so rare? That is because these incredible dogs actually have a secret code name among those who breed and own them. If you want to find more information on this breed, you will have to search for them by this code name: the Poodle!
Support reputable breeders: adopt or shop responsibly!
I think it’s so funny how so many people spend thousands of dollars on poodle mixes just because they don’t want a poodle. In reality, most of the desired traits of doodles come from the poodle side of the family! I’m all for a rebrand.

Many dogs with chronic or recurrent ear infections have allergies or low thyroid perform (hypothyroidism). Loop-shaped Dog Muzzles, made from nylon or other artificial materials have recently appeared in the market. It is necessary that your dog be examined to ensure that the eardrum is intact. This examination permits your veterinarian to determine whether or not the eardrum is intact and if there may be any overseas material in the canal. Soooo I decided that after my last drawing, which funnily enough was the last thing in my list of things to draw before I decided to repopulate it with More Fun Things, I was going to make a few changes about how I go about things art-wise. The first is that...well, I added a new version of myself do my revolving door of situational personas! Im pupy :3c I've been interested in soft-coated wheaten terriers lately, partly because of legitimate research for eventual pet parenthood (they're a hypoallergenic breed!) and partly because they look like living teddy bears and I love that about them ;w; The other thing I decided to change up is in using multiple brushes for my character shading rather than just the one I always use, as kind of an attempt to better differentiate different materials, like how I handle the scenic backgrounds in pieces that have them. They're still default brushes (mostly cuz I still don't know how to permanently add a new brush to GIMP), but at least it's more than just "2. Hardness 100" all the time. Is it noticeable? Eh, even if it's not too noticeable, I still had fun with it and that's what matters hehe.
...I really don't know if I tagged this accurately tbh, I guess it's technically furry-adjacent so I'll stick that tag on there but idk whether I am one or if I'm just dabbling a little if that makes any sense? Does it? Idk, I just wanted to be pupy X3
