Lullaby
Max Verstappen x Reader
Summary: in which Max is the only lullaby you’ll ever need
Warnings: 18+ content
Tumblr media
You stare up at the ceiling, wide awake. The numbers on the alarm clock seem to taunt you, the minutes ticking by as you struggle in vain to fall asleep.
It’s nearly 1 am and Max still isn’t home.
With a sigh, you roll over and bury your face in his pillow, breathing in his familiar scent.
It’s not the same.
Your body craves his warmth, the protective circle of his arms. Sleep just won’t come without him here.
You’ve always been this way, for as long as you can remember. A perpetual insomniac, tossing and turning through the lonely nights.
That is, until you met Max.
The first night you spent together, you were astonished to find yourself drifting off within minutes of being wrapped in his strong embrace. It was like magic. Now, months later, the spell hasn’t broken. Max has become a necessity, not just for your heart but also for your health.
The sound of the front door opening stirs you from your restless thoughts. Muted footsteps make their way to the bedroom and you feel the mattress dip down.
“Hey,” Max whispers, his hand grazing your shoulder. “Sorry I’m so late, the meeting ran long. I didn’t mean to keep you waiting up.”
You roll over to face him, drinking in the sight of his tousled hair and tired eyes. “It’s okay. I’m just glad you’re here.”
He offers you a soft smile, the one he saves only for these quiet intimate moments, and your heart skips. No matter how many times you see it, that smile never fails to make you melt.
“Let me just wash up and I’ll be right there, okay?” He squeezes your hand gently before disappearing into the bathroom.
You listen to the familiar sounds of him getting ready for bed, a ritual you know by heart. The splash of water, the electric hum of his toothbrush, the soft thud of his clothes hitting the hamper.
When he emerges in just his boxers, you lift up the covers in silent invitation. He slides in behind you and tucks your body against his chest, legs tangled together.
You fit so perfectly, two puzzle pieces made for each other.
His arms wrap around you like bands of steel and you feel yourself begin to relax into him. Here, cradled against him with your legs interlocked, is the only place you’ve ever found true peace.
Max brushes his lips over your hair. “Did you miss me?” He murmurs.
You smile into the darkness. “You know I did.”
“I missed you too, schatje.” His voice is husky with fatigue. “I’m exhausted but I had to get back to take care of my girl.”
You snuggle deeper into his embrace. “My hero.”
He chuckles, low and warm like honey flowing over you.
You talk softly as you both unwind from the day, voices hushed in the intimacy of the night. He tells you about the team debrief that ran late and you fill him in on the book you started today, trading thoughts and details as the fuzziness of sleep starts to seep into the she of your consciousness.
Eventually conversation tapers off, words replaced by contented silence. Max’s breathing deepens and you know he’s nearing slumber. But your mind still buzzes, body fighting against its own weariness.
You shift restlessly and Max instantly tightens his hold. “Shh I’ve got you,” he soothes. “Just try to relax.”
One large hand begins massaging gentle circles on your back and you focus on its hypnotic motion, on the sensation of his calloused fingers tracing delicate shapes.
He starts humming softly, a nameless tune that fills you with wistful melancholy. You’ve never asked where he learned it. It belongs to these fragile midnight moments, when he coaxes you to stillness with his voice and touch.
Between the comfort of his embrace and the lullaby reverberations rumbling through his chest, you finally feel sleep approaching. Your thoughts drift away until only the present remains — Max surrounding you, his warmth, his scent, the combined rhythm of your heartbeats.
Just as your heavy eyelids begin to close, Max shifts suddenly and cages you beneath him. You gasp as he presses urgent kisses under your jaw, nipping at the sensitive skin.
“Max!” You squirm half-heartedly. “I was almost asleep.”
“Not quite yet, schatje. We’re not done.” His voice is gravelly with arousal that makes your belly swoop. “I need you.”
He kisses you deeply until you’re clinging to him, nails digging into the flexing muscles of his back. This man unravels you with barely a touch, your body open and pliant to him like a flower turns to the sun.
When he enters you it feels like coming home. You let out a shaky exhale, overwhelmed by the perfection of his body joining yours. This connection, this wholeness, is all you’ve ever wanted.
Max sets a slow, deep rhythm. His eyes blaze into you, grey flickering with lust and love and possession. “You’re mine,” he rasps, thrusting harder. “This is right where you belong. Under me, surrounding me, taking all of me.”
“Yes, yes I’m yours,” you gasp. The slide and drag of your bodies is maddening, tension coiling at the base of your spine.
Max grips your thigh, hooking it over his hip to drive himself deeper. “No one else gets to have you like this. You only come apart for me. I’m the only one who gets to feel you shatter.”
You cry out as he hits that perfect spot inside, stars bursting behind your eyelids. “Max, please …”
He crushes you closer, thin control fraying. “Please what? Tell me. I’ll give you anything you need.”
A particularly deep thrust wrings a wanton moan from you. You’re so close now, balanced on a knife’s edge of bliss. “Just you,” you manage to say. “I just need you.”
Max smiles, satisfied. “That’s my girl.” Then his lips slant over yours, swallowing your sobs of pleasure as his hips piston faster. The tension crests, higher and higher, until finally it breaks and you’re swept away on waves of dizzying ecstasy.
Max tenses and follows you over with a rough groan, your name a prayer on his lips. He collapses heavily against you, breath coming in harsh pants.
For long moments you just cling together, fingerprints bruising, heartbeats thundering through one another.
Eventually Max stirs, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead. But he doesn’t separate your bodies. He knows you’ll rest easier staying connected, so he simply shifts just enough to take some of his weight off you.
You let out a small sigh of contentment, his warmth seeping into every inch of you like a blanket. Utterly spent and sated, you quickly begin drifting off. But before sleep claims you, Max’s quiet voice cuts through the haze.
“I’ll always come back to you. Every night, just like this. You’re my home.”
His words wrap around your heart, a vow and a lullaby in one. You manage to murmur a quiet “love you” before finally succumbing to sleep, safe in the harbor of his arms.

More than words
Pairing: Lee Know x fem!reader
Summary: your best friends are getting married and you're their maid of honor. They just forgot to mention that the best man and your partner in the wedding is the guy who broke you heart.
Word count: 6,394
Warnings: mentions of alcohol, drunk people, just fluffy and a tiny bit if angst, also there's a screenshot/fake text close to the end.
>> Masterlist <<
A/N: so, this was supposed to be a bday post for Lee Know but I couldn't finish it on time :( turns out I can't write under pressure and I still don't think this is good enough but I don't think I can do better this time lmao I'm sure he can feel my love even if it's a bit late(I wish) so happy late bday for my bias the most sassy and sexy man on earth!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You look at the invitation in your hands and sigh. You were really looking forward to your best friend's wedding. You were overjoyed when she told you Jeonghan had finally proposed and that she had chosen you as her maid of honor. You were excited to go out shopping to choose her wedding dress and enjoyed helping plan all the little details.
The thing is, Seojin forgot to let you know that the best man is going to be her best friend, your long-term crush and the guy who rejected you. Lee Minho, your wildest dream and worst nightmare embodied.
You, Seojin, Jeonghan and Minho had met in college and you fell in love at first sight. Yeah, kinda cheesy, right? You always had been a logical person so love at first sight sounded like bullshit to you, until it actually happened.
It was the strongest, most nerve wracking emotion you ever felt in your life. The way every move he made, every word he said, every smile he gave you, just made your entire world turn upside down.
You never really put a lot of effort into hiding that you liked him, seizing every opportunity to hit on him but he never really gave you the time of day, brushing it off as a joke.
A year ago, you decided to confess to him. You told him about your feelings for but it was no surprise when he turned you down.
You already guessed he didn't feel the same way as you did, you just thought it best to regret what you have done rather than what you haven't. And you did regret doing it in the end. Your heart was broken and you felt empty, you haven't spoken to him since that day. So to know you'll have to spend a whole weekend in his presence is not something you're looking forward to.
>>>
You came to the airport right after you clocked out of work. It's not a long trip, so you try to make yourself comfortable while you're in the plane.
As the maid of honor, you have to help the guests during the weekend, this is your job so Seojin can relax before her wedding.
So when you feel someone sitting by your side, you put your best smile on, ready to introduce yourself.
Your smile disappears when you see Minho there, he has his usual smug smile on his lips and an eyebrow raised, staring at you and waiting for you to continue.
"Oh, it's you", you say, feeling your cheeks warm, turning around to look out of the window.
"I expected a more heartwarming greeting", he jokes, "we are partners for the weekend after all"
'Don't even get me started on that', you think, sighing.
You should be nice to him, at least while you're on wedding duties, he didn't do anything wrong after all. But you're embarrassed, the last time you talked to each other was when he rejected you.
"How have you been?" He asks when you don't say anything.
"Fine", you give him a forced smile, "and you?"
"As usual", he answers, shifting in his seat, uncomfortable.
"Dating someone?" You ask and his head snaps at you, he didn't think you'd want to know something like that. You sure are having the same reaction, cursing yourself with every name you know, you really can't help yourself, you're an idiot.
"Not really", he clears his throat, he thought you'd have forgotten all about him after so much time but he feels strange knowing you still want to know about that, "you?"
You shake your head, no. You're not dating anyone since you didn't get over him yet. It's pathetic really, a whole year went by and you're still hung up on him.
You don't talk much for the rest of the trip, you just make small talk about his plans with Jeonghan for the weekend. Minho missed you, more than he could have expected, so it's nice having time with you again.
You have always known Jeonghan is rich, but to book a room for every one of their guests at a five star hotel it's a whole other level of wealthy. You're already dreaming about the long bath you're going to take on the hydromassage in your room, after that you're going to lay in the comfortable hotel bed and relax for the rest of the night, maybe check again your plans for tomorrow.
"Mr. Lee", the receptionist says to Minho, giving him the keycard. She looks at you, waiting for you to get closer to the counter, "What can I do for you, Miss…?"
"Oh, it's Y/N L/N", you say, stepping closer. The woman taps something and frowns.
"You're in room 143", she says and you smile politely, waiting for your keycard, "together with Mr. Lee", she points to Minho, who's looking at his keycard and showing it to you.
You take a deep breath.
"There must be a mistake, we are not together, we have to be in different rooms"
"I'm sorry, there must have been a mistake in the booking", she smiles apologetically, "we can give you a full refund"
"There's no need, I can just stay in another room"
The woman presses her lips in a thin line, looking at the other receptionist by her side.
"I'm sorry, but we are fully booked"
You take a moment to understand what she's saying. So there's no room for you? That's great.
"I'll just go to another hotel", you sigh, stepping away.
"I'm afraid it will be hard for you to find another hotel miss, it's the weekend and there are a lot of weddings happening at this time of the year"
"What am I supposed to do, then?", you ask, trying not to freak out.
You can't stay with Seojin since she's the bride and the other bridesmaids magically found a partner to bring to the ceremony so there's nowhere for you to sleep.
"Just stay with me", Minho sighs, running his hands through his hair. "It's your room too anyway"
You stare at him for a whole minute, trying to think of a way to get out of this, but you can't. You have to stay close to Seojin for the wedding plans and you really want to stay in this hotel.
"Do you have a better idea?" He asks, seeing the frown in your face.
You sigh, shaking your head, there's nothing much you can do. You follow Minho to the elevator, pressing the bottom and waiting for the doors to open. A crowd starts to form around you, pushing you together into the confined space. Minho is crushed against the wall and you're being pressed against him, as if things aren't already bad.
"We should have waited to catch the next one", you whisper and he sighs.
"Is not like we had a choice"
You want to fight him, you want to blame him for all this situation. If he didn't reject you, you would be together now and you wouldn't mind being pressed against him. You wouldn't mind the warmth growing in your lower stomach just by the touch of his skin on yours.
The moment people get out on the second floor, you step away from him, trying to hide your red face. You walk together in the corridor, your mind is so full you forget the situation you are in, but when you enter the room you see the bed. There's only one bed. You completely forgot this is a room for a couple, as if it's not enough that you have to sleep in the same room with Minho, you'll have to share the same bed too? If there's a god, he must be laughing at your face right now.
"Do you want to shower first?" Minho's voice takes you out of your thoughts and you turn around to look at him.
"Yeah, thanks"
You grab your bag and go into the bathroom. It's okay, you don't have to freak out, you are in a five star hotel, in a really nice suite, you can manage to survive the weekend.
When you packed your things, you were planning on sleeping alone so you are lucky you actually brought pajamas even though you always sleep in your underwear. This pajama is not the most decent one but it's what you have at the moment.
The hot bath does wonders to relieve your stress, you use the expensive shampoo and hair conditioner and massages your body with some nice body lotion, ready to have a good night of sleep.
Minho's seated by the bed when you get out of the bathroom, his clothes are folded by his side and he's scrolling on his phone. He lifts his eyes towards you, freezing instantly. What the hell are you wearing? He feels the warmth going up his neck, cheeks and his ears.
"A-are you done?" He stutters for the first time since you've known him.
"Yeah, the hair conditioner is really nice, look how soft my hair is now", you step closer to him, tilting your head so he can touch your hair.
"I'll try it myself", he walks past you. You must have taken a lot of time in there for him to be in such a hurry.
When Minho gets out of the bathroom you're already sleeping, you're laying down on your stomach with your round ass bursting out of your shorts or whatever is that thing you're wearing, he's sure he'll go crazy in the next two days if you keep this up.
>>>
When you go into the restaurant and see Seojin, you want to commit a murder. You know that face she's making, it's the face she has when she did something mischievous and is trying to hide it.
"So it was YOU", you slap her arm, sitting in front of her at the table. The other girls didn't seem to have arrived yet.
"I don't know what you're talking about", she smiles looking at you with doe eyes.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about, really, you put us in the same room?"
She sighs in defeat. Seojin knows better than to keep pretending, you know her too well to believe in any excuse she'll come up with.
"I just want my two best friends to make up", she smiles, "it's my wedding after all"
"I get that, but you could have thought about a better way", you sigh, calling for the waiter and asking for a bottle of wine. "I won't ruin your weekend", you smile, grabbing her hand to squeeze it, "but you're done for when we go back"
She shivers, you're really scary when you get mad. But it's worth the risk, she knows you're not over Minho and she wants to help you get together.
"Leave the whole bottle", you ask the waiter that just came back to your table bringing the wine and two glasses, "and keep bringing more when you see I'm out of it", you ignore his look of pity.
You're going to have lunch with Seojin and the bridesmaids, then you're going to pick your dress up and bring it to the hotel for you to wear tomorrow.
Soon enough the bridesmaids arrive, there are only three, Seojin's cousins and Jeonghan's sister. They won't shut up about their partners, that aren't even official or anything. You can't believe they brought just about anyone to your best friend's wedding and you absolutely are not being petty because you were forced to stay in the same room as Minho because they all had partners.
After setting the date for your meeting later in the night, you go to pick up your dress. You had to make some last minute changes and were lucky they were available to assist you immediately.
The first thing you do when you get to your room is to try on the dress, making sure it's perfect for the next day. You struggle a bit to put it on, since it has a zipper in the back, but you manage it.
You stare at your reflection in the mirror, you look nice. The green really enhances the color of your eyes and it's going to look perfect with your makeup and hair done.
You feel a sudden tug in your hair, a few strands got stuck in the zipper somehow. Perfect. You pull it a couple of times but with no success until you pull it so hard the zipper actually breaks.
"Oh no no", you whine looking at the big problem you have in your hands.
The door opens behind you and Minho enters, staring at you for a moment, you look beautiful. He would have admired you for a whole hour if it wasn't for the desperate look in your face, that's when he sees that your dress is open in the back with some of your hair stuck in the zipper.
"Are you alright?" He asks, you look at him trying to calm yourself down. What are you going to do? The wedding is tomorrow.
"I messed up", you tell him, tears brimming in your eyes, "I ruined my dress, how am I supposed to go to the ceremony?"
There's no way you can get it fixed, there's a lot of weddings happening this weekend and it's Saturday afternoon, there's not going to be a tailor available.
Minho can see the gears turning in your head, you're overthinking. He gets closer to you, grabbing you by the shoulders, making you look at him.
"Hey!" He says, loudly enough to catch your attention, "calm down! We can find a way to fix it!"
He's looking deeply into your eyes, telling you to take deep breaths and you do just that, calming down a bit in a few minutes.
>>>
Minho had his fair share of broken hearts, sometimes he was the one crying over the end of a relationship and sometimes someone else was in that position. He liked you more than as a friend, he knew that since the beginning of your friendship but he never opened up enough to form another type of relationship with you. So when you confessed to him, he felt so many things at the same time.
He was happy that you felt the same way as him, mad he didn't know about it sooner but mostly, he felt scared, your friendship was so important to him that he didn't want to ruin it by dating you. What if you two broke up later? How could you still be friends?
That fear made him turn you down, he regretted it the moment you walked out of the cafe you were meeting up and in a certain way, he did ruin your friendship, since you didn't speak to him after that day and he couldn't bring himself to contact you too.
He knew Seojin was the one who pulled this stunt of putting you together in the same room, she always loved to play cupid. He just didn't expect he would like the situation so much, he missed you a lot, more than you could ever imagine.
Seojin was waiting for him at the lobby, she wanted to go for a walk and talk, to settle some little things about his role in the wedding.
"Finally, you're here!" She smiles, squeezing him in a hug and he does the same.
"Did you wait long?" He asks.
"Nope, I just had lunch with Y/N", she answers, eyeing Minho and waiting for his reaction to the mention of your name, he chuckles.
"So, did you have to put us in the same room?" He asks, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms. Seojin smiles, giving him puppy eyes.
"If I didn't you wouldn't speak to each other, I'm sure of it", she huffs.
"I would try talking to her, you know that"
"Yeah, but she'd probably run every time, that's why I had to go to this extent", Seojin starts walking and Minho follows her.
"I guess you're right", he says, tucking his hands in his pockets.
"Didn't you regret turning her down? I know you like her too"
"It doesn't matter if I regret it or not, she hates my guts now"
They walk for about five minutes before Seojin takes a deep breath and starts talking again.
"I know I shouldn't meddle into this but you're both my best friends so I feel like I have the right to intervene when you're just being dumb", Minho glares at her, "I'm sure she still likes you, Min"
Do you, though? You can't even look him in the eyes. You don't want to talk to him. He wants to believe in what Seojin is saying but he's afraid he lost his chance with you.
When he sees you almost bawling your eyes out because of the dress, he knows he has to do something, anything for you.
"So, I called someone I know that lives here in the island with her family and her grandma is a former tailor, she wants to check the dress and see what can be done", Minho says, looking at you sitted by the bed, your hands gripping the ruined dress.
You get up in a jump, wrapping your arms around his neck and squeezing him.
"Thank you so much, Min, I don't even know how to repay you", you realize too late how close you two are from each other. Stepping aside, you give him a sheepish smile, mumbling a "sorry"
He clears his throat, turning around and walking to the door, trying to hide the blush in his face.
>>>
Seojin held the position of the most beautiful woman you've ever seen… until now. You're seeing Minho's friend but she doesn't look real, she's so gorgeous that for a moment it looks like she's walking in slow motion.
What takes you out of your haze is the awkward interaction between them. Minho said she is someone he knows but are acquaintances close enough to ask for favors? And the way they are interacting tells you they're not friends either.
She's smiling at Minho and he's just there, nodding, there's not a single glance of affection in his behavior. He's not like this, sometimes he may seem cold and a bit mean, but he's the sweetest with the ones he likes, you know that because you used to be one of them.
"So, I'm Mina", she looks at you with a big smile and you greet her, telling your name. "Is this the dress?" She asks, looking at your garment bag.
"Yes, thank you so much for accepting to help", you say and she chuckles.
"Anything for Minho", she looks at him with a smile and you feel your chest ache even though he keeps a straight face.
She leads you into the house, it's a beautiful traditional construction. Her grandma is waiting in the living room and she asks Mina to make some tea while she looks at the dress.
"Can you help me bring the things?" She asks Minho and he nods.
The old lady is very nice, she tells you about her years of experience as a tailor and how she had to fix absolute disasters in her days, so your case will be easy peasy, she just has to replace the zipper with a new one.
"Give me half an hour", she reassures you with a smile and then looks around, "can you go see why my granddaughter is taking so long?" She asks and you nod, getting up and following a path you think leads to the kitchen.
"Does she know about us?" You hear Mina's voice and stop in your tracks, you shouldn't eavesdrop, right? Then why can't you move? Your heart starts beating so loudly you're not sure you'll be able to hear his answer.
"Let's not talk about that while she's here", Minho asks, sighing. "I'll meet you when you come to Seoul and we can talk"
You can't breathe. So they are not just friends, you feel dumb. Of course Minho would like a supermodel like her, even though you are beautiful you can't really compete with that.
You go back to the living room. You can't look at their faces after what you heard, is it immature? Yes, but it's not a secret that you're not over Minho and listening to him, thinking about him meeting with another woman just makes your heart break again, even though you thought the pain you were feeling would end after he rejected you last year.
"Are you alright?" He asks when he sits by your side, smiling slightly at you and you nod awkwardly.
Would you have gotten over him already if he just had said you are not his type? He just said he couldn't be more than friends with you, was he trying to be nice?
The old lady refuses to get paid for fixing your dress, she says it was so easy it shouldn't even count as a service, in return she asks you to come by again when you're in Jeju because she liked you. You thank her again, saying your goodbyes and walking to the car while she asks Minho for something only a man can do, since her son is not home yet.
You put the dress in the backseat of the car, finally breathing relieved.
"So you're the one I should thank", you're startled by Mina's voice behind you.
"Oh, for what?" You ask, turning around with a hand on your chest.
"For bringing Minho here", she smiles sadly and you frown. "I guess he didn't tell you", she says.
"I know that you're a thing or something like that", you say, is she trying to rub it in your face? Is she feeling threatened?
"Oh", she laughs, "no, we are not a thing"
"I don't understand, then", you say, trying to not smile, feeling a weight being lifted out of your chest.
"We dated a few years ago, but I did something terrible to him, I know he hated me after that", she sighs, "I've been trying to meet him for so long to apologize but he never gave me the time of day, so imagine my surprise when he willingly called me to ask for a favor", she smiles, "I guess you must mean a lot to him"
You feel your heart sink, did he really do that for you? You don't know what she did, but you know Minho doesn't forgive someone easily and he surely doesn't like to owe a favor to someone that did something bad to him.
"Anyways", she says awkwardly after you stare at her without saying a thing, "thank you, I hope you make him happy", she smiles, nodding to you and heading back.
Make him happy? Does she think you two are together? Did she notice you were jealous?
So many questions and no answer at all. You snap out of your thoughts when the gate to the house is closed with a loud noise. Minho walks to you, opening the door.
"Are you not getting in?"
You don't speak much on your trip back to the hotel, your head is just so full of thoughts you don't think you'll be able to form a sentence if you try to speak. Besides that, it's almost time for your outing with Seojin and the other bridesmaids, Minho's also in a hurry so you guess he has something planned with Jeonghan and the groomsman as well, so you both run to your room to get ready.
You're the first to shower since you'll take longer to dress up. You don't take too long, letting Minho go in while you do your hair and makeup in the wall mirror in the bedside.
You put on a tight navy blue dress, it's long enough to cover your ass but not enough to make it proper.
Minho comes out of the bathroom already dressed, he's wearing a white button down that looks heavenly as if it was made just for him and jeans that just embrace his toned thighs.
"You can take a picture if you want", the smirk on his lips makes you scoff, taking you out of your state of haze.
"Well, it's no secret that you're handsome", you point out, "I did fall in love with you after all"
Minho stops in his tracks, he did not expect you to bring that up. Do people that still have feelings for the other joke about it? He wants to believe he still has a chance, but the way you act, so nonchalantly, makes him insecure.
"You're pretty too", he says, ignoring your remark.
"Not as much as Mina", your voice sounds more bitter than you meant it to be, "she's really gorgeous"
You turn around, picking up your purse, you don't want him to see your face full of contempt and jealousy. You walk out of the room, not waiting for his answer, cursing yourself till you get to the lobby to find your friends.
There's nothing like a girl's night out to take all your worry away. You drink, flirt with strangers, play games, take a tour around Jeju eating delicious foods, go to karaoke and walk by the beach.
Around midnight the bridesmaids take a taxi back to the hotel but you and Seojin want to drink more and have more fun since it's her last day as an unmarried woman.
The fresh air of the beach sobers you up, you're still a bit dizzy, but not as wasted as before. Your friend is worse than you, she's stumbling and laughing at nothing.
"I love you so much", she says, grabbing your face and cupping your cheeks, "you know that, right?"
You chuckle, putting your hands over hers.
"Of course I know, and I love you too", she smiles, stumbling and falling down on the floor.
"My butt", she whines, caressing her sides.
It seems like she's too wasted now, it's time to go back. You call Jeonghan, asking him if he can come pick you two up by the beach and as the gentleman he is, he didn't drink because he knew his fiancee would get too drunk to even walk and need someone to pick her up. You laugh at his answer and wait for him, it's good to know Seojin will have someone to take care of her like that.
You all were friends in college and you love Jeonghan, but you were always closest to Seojin. She came up to you and asked to be your friend on the first day of school when you were all alone since you didn't know anyone in the city, much less in that university.
You stare at the waves in the ocean, it's really calming to feel the breeze and the sound of the sea.
"My love", Seojin screams, looking behind you. She gets up and runs before you can help her. You turn around to find Jeonghan and Minho coming in your direction. Seojin jumps into her fiance's arms, giggling and kissing his face.
"Are you alright?" Jeonghan asks her and she nods frantically, mumbling 'better now' while resting her head on his shoulder. He looks at you with a brow lifted, questioning and you chuckle, nodding.
"What about you?" Minho asks and you roll your eyes, walking in a straight line to prove you're fine but your body betrays you and you trip on your own feet. You don't fall since Minho wraps his arms around your waist holding you. Why do his hands feel so good on you, when he's holding you? Why must you still feel this way after being rejected? Don't you have any pride left? Those ungodly reflexes he has are annoying sometimes, you'd rather he'd let you fall face first on the sand.
"Are you sure?" He asks, a judging look in his face.
"Yes, I'm sure", you say, stepping away from him.
Maybe you're still a little bit tipsier than you thought.
He glances at Jeonghan and he shrugs, they take you and Seojin to the car, securing you two on your seatbelts. The trip back is noisy, unfortunately Seojin is not a sleepy drunk, she gets even more energetic in her intoxicated state. So she tells Jeonghan and Minho about everything you did during your outing, every detail, even that three guys tried to take you home after you drunk flirted with them.
You give your goodbyes in the lobby, since they are staying in another wing of the hotel. You and Minho go to the elevator and you notice he's drunk too, he tries to hide it, but he keeps stumbling and has to lean on the elevator's wall to keep standing.
"I think you're much prettier than Mina", he blurts out of nowhere and your head snaps at him, a frown in your face. "You didn't let me finish earlier, I was going to say that you're the prettiest girl in the world for me"
The doors to the elevator open and he walks away, like what he just said didn't leave you completely lost. You feel your heart beat faster, following him to your room and leaning on the door after you close it, staring at him while he walks around the room.
Your mind is full of thoughts, why is he always so nice to you? You suddenly have the preposterous urge to tell him again you're in love with him, it must be the alcohol, but maybe you need him to tell you he doesn't like you in that way, maybe if you're humiliated one more time you'll be able to let him go.
"You shouldn't be nice to me", he looks at you, brows furrowed in confusion, "if you do I'll cross the line you drew last year", you stumble a bit, trying to get to him and he holds you. "I'll kiss you if you don't stop me", you say, noticing how close you're from each other.
Minho doesn't say anything, his head is spinning a bit and he's sure you're bluffing. He's so wrong, though. He realizes that only when your lips come crashing on his, he doesn't even have time to process what's happening before you push him away, stepping aside.
"I-I'm sorry", you say, 'of course he won't reciprocate', you think.
However, contrary to your expectations, he wraps his arms around your waist, pressing his hand on the small of your back and pulling you back to his embrace, kissing you. His lips are soft and his movements are rushed like he's been waiting to do that for a long time.
Maybe you're just dreaming while awake, it's impossible for him to be kissing you, right?
You wake up feeling your head hurting like crazy, your mouth is dry and you feel sick. Suddenly what happened comes crushing in, did you actually kiss Minho? And the most important part, did he reciprocate? You can't remember, the last thing that you recall is kissing him but everything after that is just a blur.
You look around the room, trying to find him and when you realize he's nowhere to be seen, you can only draw one conclusion. It seems you've been rejected once more.
It's okay, now you feel like you can get over this crush, you two didn't have a future anyway. You want to cry, you really do, but you can't show up to your friend's wedding with puff eyes and you don't want to stay in this room for long, you don't want to meet him again until the wedding. So you grab your dress and the things you'll need and take it to the bridal suite.
Minho is happy, you still like him after all. After you two kissed you fell asleep, he tucked you in bed and watched you. You were always a sleepy drunk, when he's more like Seojin. He feels energetic until the exhaustion hits him.
He wakes up early, to grab some coffee and hangover medicine for you two, but when he comes back waiting to find you awake, you're nowhere, your things are not there either. Did you regret kissing him? Maybe you just wanted to feel something familiar with him. No, he's not going to let these intrusive thoughts make him assume things, he needs to talk to you.
And he would, if you answered his calls or his texts. He freaks out even more when his phone buzzes with a bunch of texts.
Tumblr media
>>>
You're trying to distract yourself, telling stories about your college times with Seojin to the other bridesmaids and helping the bride relax before her big moment. You don't want to tell her about the whole thing with Minho, you don't want to turn her big day into a drama about yourself.
She keeps frowning while looking at the phone, the ceremony is going to start in less than thirty minutes so it's understandable that she's nervous.
She looks at you with desperate eyes.
"The wedding planner just texted me saying there is something wrong with the menu, can you check it for me?"
"Of course, I'll be back as soon as possible", you smile reassuring her. It's weird though, you went through all the details with the staff before meeting with Seojin.
You walk to the kitchen, looking for the wedding planner and finally finds her talking to the waiters.
"Hey, what's wrong with the menu?" You ask the older woman and she looks at you, confused.
"What do you mean?" She asks, "there's nothing wrong"
You frown, looking around. Seojin clearly told you the wedding planner was the one to report the issue, so it's impossible for her to not know about it.
"Hm, Seojin told me there was a problem?!"
"She must be confused, honey, brides get really stressed, maybe she read some of my texts wrong", she tries to reassure you and you nod, not really buying it. Seojin is a perfectionist, she wouldn't make this kind of mistake. But if the wedding planner is telling you there's nothing wrong then there's nothing you can do about it.
You walk back to the bridal suite, twenty minutes till the ceremony. When you open the door there's no one else there, where did they go? You look around trying to find someone but they're not even in the dressroom. The door opens behind you and you turn around ready to ask where's everyone, when you see Minho closing the door.
He stares at you for a few seconds, waiting for your reaction.
"Did you regret kissing me?" He asks, taking a few steps towards you.
"What are you talking about?" You say, trying to sound nonchalantly even though you want to cry just by looking at his face.
"You kissed me, you should take responsibility", he gets closer.
You feel your throat dry, taking a step back.
"You're the one who left me by myself", you mumble.
"I just went out to buy meds for us, why did you assume things?"
"Of course I'd assume things, you rejected me once, why wouldn't you do it again?" You point out, feeling angry and your answer feels like daggers being shot at him.
He takes a deep breath, grabbing both your hands and holding it close to his chest.
"There's not a day I don't regret turning you down that time", he sighs, "the truth is that I liked you since the first time I saw you but I couldn't ruin our friendship and I was so scared that I wouldn't be enough for you, like I wasn't enough for her"
You know about who he's talking about and want to kick him for even thinking you're anything like Mina, but most you want to punch her in the face, she broke his heart and left him in crumbles.
"I would never do anything to hurt you", you whisper, he's so close to you know, you can feel his breathing hitting your face.
"I know, I was scared that time and I'm still scared", he lifts your hand to his lips, "but if you give me one more chance I promise I'll be better, no one's gonna love you more than me and I'll always be there for you"
You waited for this for so long you're not even sure if it's happening.
"Can you pinch me?" You ask and he smirks.
"I can bite", he slides his hands to your waist, getting closer and giving a peek to your lips, biting your lower lip, making you shiver.
"Now I know it's real", you say, staring into his dark eyes.
"Should I take this as a yes?" He asks and you nod.
"I have been yours ever since I met you, there's not another answer but yes when it comes to you"
He smiles, the brightest smile you ever seen on him, then he kisses you, and he wants you to remember this one for the rest of your life.
Walking down the aisle with the other bridesmaids and groomsmen, arms linked with Minho's while exchanging knowing smiles, you can't help but imagine if one day it's going to be you two there. Minho on the other side is already planning how he's going to propose, because he's absolutely sure next time it's going to be you in a wedding dress and him waiting patiently for your hand.

That's that me espresso! — c. nakahara
Tumblr media
synopsis. chuuya struggles to fall asleep again after thinking about you and his unexpected dreams
content. fem!reader, fluff, suggestive in one part, chuuya is lovesick and he doesn’t know it <3
notes. i don’t know if i got his character right.. i tried my best tho ! and yes this is inspired by sabrina carpenter’s song espresso hehe (*´꒳`*)
Tumblr media
chuuya doesn’t dream.
or well he didn’t use to because tonight was the first time he had a dream in a really long time.
the fact it wasn’t a nightmare shocked him even further and out of all things he could’ve dreamed about, it was about you. why you? he isn’t sure himself. chuuya let out a silent sigh as he rubbed his face, trying to recall everything he saw because a part of him is still in disbelief that he had an actual dream.
the first thing he remembers is you wearing a summer dress while walking at the shore of a beach. the gentle waves crashing into your bare feet as you carried your flip flops in your hand. then you turned around and your face was beaming. chuuya swore you had the happiest smile he had ever seen on you. something seems to catch your attention when you look at him.
“chuuya, your hair is in your face!” you tell him with a light giggle. as soon as you mention that, he notices how his hair strands start to obscure his sight as the wind blows from behind him. you make your way towards him as if an idea popped into your mind. “wait, stay still,” you say and swiftly move behind him while chuuya couldn’t help but blink in confusion. “what?”
you don’t say anything in return but it doesn’t take him long before he realises what you’re doing as he can feel your fingers gather his hair into one place. you were making a ponytail for him.
“there! now it won’t be bothering you,” you say once you are done, looking at him in satisfaction and glee. chuuya touches his head for a moment, not used to having it like that. it indeed felt nicer. he thanked you before the two of you start walking again.
“no problem. you look really good with a ponytail too…” you mumble the last part and chuuya almost misses it. he glances at you, about to say something and he’ll never know what because that was the moment he woke up.
chuuya believes there was probably more going on in the dream but this is as far as he remembers. he casts a look to the side, scanning over the clock that reads 2:56 am. there is more than enough time to get his much needed sleep. because it is a rare occurrence for him to not be exhausted from a usual workday, he’ll take any bit of rest he can get.
with that in mind, chuuya shifts his body to the other side and closes his eyes, a soft exhale leaving his lips. it was just a silly dream and he will forget it soon enough anyway. although he still doesn’t quite understand why you were there. you were one of the closest people to him, he’ll admit that. you knew him better than most people and he has lost count at how many times you have made his day so much better. the two of you were good friends and that’s it. yeah, this is fine.
except it isn’t.
falling asleep turns out to be a much more difficult task than he anticipated. he isn’t even that tired anymore which did not help. chuuya’s mind is still stuck on his damned dream. he can’t help but picture again your radiant smile, how your hair blew in the wind, the way you stared at him and that pretty dress… he quickly shaked his head to snap out of it. he can’t believe himself. chuuya decides to get up and find something to distract himself since he couldn’t sleep now anyway.
Tumblr media
he wished that would’ve been the one and only time he dreamed of you. this was the third time in the week that he hasn’t slept well. all of them had you in it and at this point chuuya thinks something is wrong with him. how does anyone dream about the same person so many times in such a short time?
chuuya groans into his pillow as he suspects yet another badly slept night. of course you were on his mind once more. he is glad that these aren’t nightmares but at the same time he doesn’t know how to feel about these dreams either. he’s also shocked by just how vividly he remembers all of them.
in the second dream, chuuya was at a restaurant with you. if he’s going to be honest then it felt like a date. the dimmed lights, the romantic atmosphere, a lit up candle placed on the middle of the table and two glasses filled halfway with red wine. he still remembers the simple yet elegant carmine dress you were wearing. your gaze was filled with so much warmth and adoration that he felt his heart falter. then you laughed at something he said and god your laughter seemed sweeter than the desserts the two of you were having.
the entire time his eyes were stuck on you as if you were the most breathtaking person he had ever come across. and you were. while the conversation was hazy to him, the scene of you intertwining your fingers with his was still clear in his mind. your rosy cheeks afterwards made you look even prettier. thinking about it alone made chuuya’s heart rate fasten.
the third dream however, the one he had tonight, was a different story. because with each time these dreams seem to get bolder and chuuya doesn’t know how to handle it.
you were pushed against the bed with him hovering over you. he was kissing you and they weren’t some kind of gentle kisses either. more like they were filled with desire, need and many other strong emotions he couldn’t pinpoint. he pulled away for a moment, his lips still brushing against yours. your hair had gotten rather messy, your lipstick was smeared and it was obvious that you were breathless as he could feel your breath on his skin.
“chuuya, please…” he couldn’t fight back the shiver that went down his spine when he heard your pleading voice. your arms were wrapped around his neck as you held him close. his lips slowly trail down from your lips and he can’t help but start sensually kissing your neck. chuuya relished the soft noises that left your lips.
“want you s’bad,” you murmured to his ear and chuuya swears his heart skipped a beat. were you even aware of the effect you had on him? “i’m right here, doll.” his tone was low and husky as one of his hands sneaked below your shirt, lifting it up as he traced your waist. he didn’t miss the subtle tremble of your body when his bare hand came in touch with your abdomen. god your skin was so soft and your flushed face was the most adorable sight. he grinned before going for your lips again and then—
chuuya can feel his face heat up as he realised what he was thinking. he buried his face into the pillow once again because that was just a little too intimate. and goddamn it, he feels like a schoolgirl who just talked to her crush for the first time.
why the fuck is this happening to him?
he hasn’t seen you in a while since both of you were busy with your missions lately. you did text him though, and even if he always didn’t have the time to respond, you liked talking to him about your day as well as your frustrations at times. chuuya didn’t mind and when he had a chance would type you back. with a lot of things going on, you and him were still in touch. so are his dreams supposed to be some kind of sign to see you again?
if only you knew how much you have driven him insane. he needs to do something, anything to get these dreams out of his head. a night with actually good rest does sound nice right now. however he won’t get that, not tonight at least. suddenly chuuya gets an idea. a stupid idea perhaps, but he believes he will only continue to suffer if he won’t do anything about it. he grabs his phone from the bedside table and opens the messages app.
Me 4:03 am
you up?
chuuya sighs, there is no going back now. he hopes you’re asleep but a small part of him wishes you would respond because he has no idea what to do at this point. five minutes later, he hears his phone vibrate.
Y/n 4:08 am
mhm, something wrong?
his eyes slightly widen in surprise. so you were awake. for a moment he thinks what to text back.
Me 4:09 am
not really, just can’t sleep
Y/n 4:09 am
what a coincidence haha
now that i think about it i still haven’t seen your motorcycle that you promised to show me one day
maybe wanna meet up? ^ ^
chuuya’s mind pauses because this might be exactly what he needs — to see you again. without thinking too much he starts typing.
Me 4:10 am
sure
i’ll come and pick you up
Y/n 4:11 am
YAYY
i’ll see you then!!
he can’t help but smile a little. a genuine smile that he hasn’t had in a while. he quickly changed his clothes, locked his apartment and began making his way to the garage.
he might never admit it but even with you in his dreams, he still missed you. the real you.
Tumblr media
fun fact: initially, i had put a winky face after the “i’ll come and pick you up” text but then decided against it bc i’m still not sure if he would do that LMAO

i had died the tiniest death
summary: You've gotten used to the feeling of being watched since you broke up with your girlfriend, Shauna Shipman, but you never thought it was more than just your imagination till now. Still, maybe you should have been more afraid to wake up to your scantily clad ex-girlfriend straddling you than you are. A/N: based on this post by @deerlottie . wrote this in three hours i fear. im so normal about her i swear
You wake up with a start, bringing your hands up to rub wearily at your eyes as you breathe out a sigh. You've been having the weirdest dreams, night after night. You'd started to get paranoid lately that Shauna was following you, lurking at the edges of your vision and quickly disappearing from sight the second you whirled around to look. You knew how crazy it sounded, but the fear was even bleeding into your dreams.
You turn your head to look at your nightstand, nearly groaning at the time staring back from your alarm clock. Knowing you had to be up in four hours did nothing for the crushing weight on your chest– weight on your chest?
You close your eyes as you turn your head back, dreading having to open them. You peek one eye open, your whole body tensing as you attempt to quell your instinctive urge to scream.
“Shauna, what the fuck?” You spit out, staring up warily at her as she looms above you in the darkness. Your voice is shaky, but you try to infuse it with a hint of annoyance in an attempt to mask your fear.
You shift anxiously beneath her, pinned down by the weight of her. You knew you could get her off of you if you had to, but you weren't keen on pissing her off before you knew why she was here. Pulling a knife on you wasn't something you'd ever put past Shauna, and that was before you had actual confirmation she was stalking you.
“I’ve been waiting for you to wake up,” She complains, shifting her weight from her knees to your hips as you instinctively grab at her waist. You can just barely make out her smile at the action as she leans forward, boxing your head in with her arms as she places her palms flat on the bed on either side.
“I missed my girlfriend,” Shauna whispers, brushing stray strands of hair away from your face as she stares down lovingly.
“Your girlfriend–” You start, trailing off as you struggle to articulate the multitude of questions running through your mind. You catch yourself, quickly realizing that it isn’t your most pressing concern. “How long have you been here? How did you get here?”
“So many questions,” She murmurs, her breath warm against your ear as she breathes in the scent of your hair. “Can’t you just enjoy it?” She exhales shakily, nosing against your neck with a desperate noise.
You have to bite your lip to stop a sigh from escaping, shivering under the ministrations despite your best efforts. “No, Shauna. You broke into my house.”
“I didn’t break into your house,” She denies, a hint of a smirk on her face as she continues. “This is an apartment.”
“God, you’re such a bitch.” You tense as Shauna jerks away, sitting back up on your hips to glare down at you.
“A bitch?” She scoffs, looking angry for the first time tonight. She grabs at your throat as you try to speak, effectively cutting off your sentence with an embarrassing squeak as she quite literally takes your breath away.
“You don’t get to call me a bitch after everything I’ve done for us.” Shauna shakes her head, only letting go of your throat as you nod quickly in response. You gasp for air the second she allows it, staring up at her in a mix of disbelief and fear. Shauna had always been a little rough, but this was something else, even for her.
“For us?” You wheeze.
Shauna nods, giving you a crazed smile that’s honestly hotter than it should be. “You made a mistake breaking up with me.”
“I can see that,” You say dryly. Shauna squeezes warningly at your throat, and you certainly don’t need to be told twice.
“I kept waiting for you to realize it, but you’ve always been so damn stubborn, haven’t you?” You stay quiet, staring up at her as you try to will your heart to stop pounding in your chest.
“And then you started talking to other girls,” She continues, an accusing frown on her face.
Your eyes widen as the thought suddenly crosses your mind. “Are… Are you the reason Jenny runs away crying whenever she sees me?”
Shauna nods eagerly, looking happy to have her efforts recognized. “I had to have a talk with her. She needed to know that you’re mine.”
Jesus.
“You are, aren’t you?” Her gaze is intense, searching the depths of your soul as her hands play with the hem of her shirt. “I just want to know that you’re still mine.”
You reach blindly for your nightstand as you maintain eye contact, nearly crying in relief as your fist closes around the new phone Shauna had gotten you a few months ago for your birthday. It seemed oddly fitting to call the cops on her with it. You’re just about to dial 911 when you catch sight of something… interesting.
You let it slip from your fingers as your hand comes up to the hem of her shirt, pulling it taut so you can get a better look at it.
“Are you– are you wearing my jersey? Where did you even get that from?” You ask in disbelief.
Shauna stares down at you for a moment before rolling her eyes. “Closet, obviously.” She says wryly. “Good thing you're pretty.”
You scoff, pinching the soft skin of her thighs between your fingers. Shauna gasps in pain, hips instinctively rocking into it as she rubs herself against your stomach. Your eyes widen at the feeling, gaze slowly trailing down her body to land on where the hem of your jersey rests against her thighs.
“Are you wearing anything under this?”
“What do you think?” She smirks, slowly rocking her hips so you can feel the drag of wet flesh against you.
You wish you could say she wasn’t this crazy when you were dating her, but that wasn’t entirely true. Honestly, the more you thought about it the more this seemed within the realm of possibility when it came to her. You’ve got to stop sticking your dick in crazy.
“I think you need to leave,” You assert firmly, doing your best to ignore the slick feeling as she continues. God, she always got so wet.
“Don’t be like that,” She chides, her voice breaking slightly as she chases the perfect angle. “I need you back. I need to feel you against me. Don’t you want me?”
Oh no.
The moonlight shining in through the window throws Shauna’s shark-like grin into sharp relief, quickly pouncing on your weakness the second she catches sight of the change in your expression.
“I just need you so bad. Please?” She rests her hand on your chest as she leans forward, using her other hand to move your hand to her ass. You instinctively squeeze, kneading at the flesh before you even know what happened. Shauna certainly takes it as an encouragement, moaning as she presses herself impossibly closer. You can feel her weight bearing down on your chest, already sure her hand is going to end up leaving a bruise on your chest.
She always loved leaving you bruised, staring at them even through your clothes long after they faded. She was just so damn possessive. No matter how much of you she had,xfi it never seemed like enough. Shauna digs her knees painfully in your sides, already tiring of your mind wandering as she puts on a show.
Your eyes narrow, getting more than tired of this whole thing. You had to put up with her theatrics when you were dating, and you certainly weren’t going to do it now. You grab firmly at her hips as you roll her on her back in a fluid motion, her hands grasping uselessly at your shoulders as the landing knocks the wind out of her.
You shove your hand between her legs without fanfare, finding her wet and waiting. Shauna's reaction is immediate, her leg wrapping around your hips as she grinds against your hand.
“Fuck,” She moans shakily, whining in protest as you slap your hand over her mouth.
“Shut the fuck up,” You hiss angrily, leaning close to nip at the skin of her jaw. “My roommate is home.”
Shauna’s complaint is muffled against your palm, a frustrated look coming to her face that you enjoy more than you should. She squirms beneath you in an attempt to free herself, giving up and planting her foot flat on the bed for leverage instead as she rubs her pussy against your hand.
You hold your hand still as you palm her, watching the way the muscles in Shauna’s thighs flex as she ruts against it. She gives you a pleading look as she licks at your hand, making you wrinkle your face in disgust as you pull your hand away to wipe it on Shauna’s cheek. She huffs, blowing a stray strand of hair at her face as she gives you a dirty look.
You roll your eyes, quick to wipe away the nasty expression on her face as you thrust two fingers into her without warning. Shauna’s back arches off the bed as she bites at her own palm to keep quiet, almost thrashing beneath you as you start a harsh rhythm. Shauna whines in your ear as she grabs desperately at your back, her ragged breathing and the squeaking sounds of your mattress as she tries to meet your rhythm filling the room as you try to get your temper under control.
She was always doing shit like this, and you hated the way she always seems to manipulate you into going along with it. If you were honest with yourself, you knew that this wasn’t healthy for either of you, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to care as she clenches around your fingers.
“You were such a shitty girlfriend. This is all you’re good for, you know that?”
“I wasn’t,” She protests pitifully, rolling her hips as she chases her high.
“You were. Always too busy with Jackie.” You curl your fingers, slamming into her roughly with no regard for her enjoyment. It didn’t seem to matter much, she was just as into it now as she ever was before. It almost makes you angrier. You couldn’t even take your anger out on her without her enjoying it.
“Oh, I can’t. Jackie needs me. Jackie needs this. Jackie, Jackie, Jackie,” You mock in a high-pitched voice, thumbing roughly at her clit in a way you know she’s always hated.
She cries out as she attempts to arch away from the touch but you don’t let her escape from it, pinning her hips down as you make her take it.
“Now you have the nerve to be a fucking creep? Couldn’t make the time of day for me when we were dating, but now you want to follow me around?”
“I’m sorry,” She pleads, almost kicking you as she tries to avoid your thumb.
“Stop fighting,” You huff, curling your fingers as she goes limp beneath you. She stares pathetically up at you, burying her head in your neck when it doesn’t seem to implore you.
You finally take pity on her at the sounds of her heavy breaths as she barely chokes back her tears, slowing back to a more manageable pace as she trails kisses up your neck.
“Tell me you love me,” She whispers commandingly against your ear.
“No.”
“What do you mean no?” She whines, digging her nails into your shoulders as if that will change your mind. You shake your head resolutely, firm on setting at least this one boundary.
“Tell me you love me,” She repeats, pleading this time. “Please. You know I need it. Just once.”
You hesitate for just a beat too long before repeating yourself. “No.”
“Let me have you. Let me show you how much I need you. Don’t you want to make me come?” Her hands slide down your back, thumbing at the waistband of your boxers as she looks at you imploringly. As if sensing your dwindling will to oppose her she throws her head back in a quiet moan, exposing the length of her neck as her eyes slip closed.
You groan irritatedly, throwing caution to the wind as you give in. “I love you.” You notice the smug grin come to her face just a moment too late, but by the time you’ve realized she’s managed to get one over on you again, she’s crying out as she falls apart.
Your jaw clenches in anger as you work her through it, stoically ignoring the way she murmurs praises and “love you’s” into your ear the whole time. As you start to pull away she wraps her arms tightly around your shoulders, holding you close as she flips you over onto your back.
You grunt in irritation as you try to push her off you, but she’s just as strong as ever as she manages to pin your arms to your side, burying her face into your chest with a contented noise that relaxes you more than it should be.
“I hate you,” You complain, trying to squirm away as Shauna’s hand makes its way down your stomach and to your boxers.
“No, you don’t,” Shauna says, choosing to be the bigger person for once at not comment on the way your breath hitches as she touches your waistband.
“You’re crazy.”
Shauna laughs lowly, pressing a kiss to your chest as she nods in agreement.
“I don’t want you anymore.” Your voice is hoarse as you push at her shoulders, refusing to be pushed around this easily. It was for your pride if nothing else.
“You don’t get to just throw me away,” Shauna says harshly. “You’re mine and you always will be. I’m sorry I’ve upset you, but we’re going to move past it now.”
You breathe out shakily as Shauna finally slips her fingers beneath the waistband, silently spreading your legs in invitation. “I’ll show you how much you need me,” She promises.

More Than That
Edited-ish. ~650 words.
Tumblr media
Your eyes widen as you step out of your bathroom to see your favorite blond troublemaker sitting on your window seat. He grins, flashing that perfect dimple.
“How did you get in here?” You ask, turning to look at your locked bedroom door.
“Climbed that wooden thing.”
“You climbed the trellis?”
“Yep." He grins. "Those thorns are sharp."
“JJ!” You admonish. “I’m on the third floor!”
“A real Princess in the tower,” he mumbles while crossing the room toward you. He is quick to grab your waist and haul you into his body once he is close enough. His face buries into your neck momentarily, allowing him to inhale the honeysuckle scent from your body wash. “You left without a goodbye.”
“I have to go see my Grams. We talked about this yesterday.”
He frowns before lowering his head. His nose brushes yours. “I should go then, huh?”
You nod, unable to speak as he stares at you. His gaze locked on your own. He frowns before taking a step back, but you go with him, the hold he has on you not releasing.
“JJ, I have to get ready.”
“Okay,” he shrugs. “Get ready, I’ll stay here.”
“JJ,” you warn, and he grins, his cockiness rising to the surface. “I have to get dressed.”
He looks down at the fluffy towel wrapped securely around you. His bottom lip caught between his teeth momentarily. His tone shifts as he speaks. “I’ll wait on the bed.” He jerks his chin towards your bed before leaning down so his face hovers above yours. “Or I can help.”
“That’s not funny,” you mumble, but he does not back down. Instead, he waits to see what you’ll do. “JJ…”
“Yes?”
You inhale sharply, hands on his chest. “I can’t… I don’t want you to be a rebound.”
“Then I won’t be,” he murmurs. His fingers slide through your damp hair. “I’m open to repeat visits.”
“The rule…”
He shakes his head. “Stays between us.”
“Fuck buddies? That is your suggestion?” You ask, embarrassment flooding you at what he is suggesting. You start to pull away, your heart aching at JJ’s implied intentions. “No, I’m not a toy.”
His smirk drops, his ego disappearing as he stares at you hard. “I didn’t say that.”
“You implied it. You are just like all the others.”
“What others?!” His tone shifts to one of anger. “Who did that to you?”
“Avery tried to and there was another guy. Shep. He did.”
JJ moves back to you, pulling you into his chest. His arms fold around you tightly. “I don’t want that from you.”
“Then what do you want?!” You raise your voice, hands gripping the back of his shirt as you stare up at him. “I can’t do games anymore JJ.”
“No games,” he shakes his head, his blue eyes searching yours. “Just us. You and me.”
“Do you promise?”
“I promise.” He murmurs faintly, before he leans down, his lips sealing to yours. You kiss him back, your hands in his hair as he grips your waist, pulling you completely against him. His tongue explores your mouth, and you moan, nails scratching his scalp before you part, and he smirks.
“Definitely not fuck buddies.”
You laugh a little before glancing at the clock on your nightstand. “I have to go see Grams, but I’ll be back later. Do you…”
“I’ll come back. Keep the window unlocked,” he says, holding your chin between his fingers before pecking your lips. “See you tonight, Baby.”
“Or you could try the door…”
“Nah,” he shakes his head as he heads for your window, kicking his leg out and straddling the window frame. “There is no fun in that.”
You laugh, shaking your head at his goofiness before he winks and disappears out of sight moments later.

Can I get Delmont HC’s for when one of their ex flings or situationships try to get at the Delmont’s again and reader just gets sad instead of jealous ☹️
Oh this was so good my hands started typing before I could stop em!
A/N: Yandere, murder mentioned in Marcos, Manny kills someone,
Starting with OG lover boy, Cas takes your relationship very, very seriously.
Let's set the scene, the two of you are cuddled up at a work party of yours and a coworker you didn't really talk to much comes sauntering over with a smile far too friendly for your liking, it made a nasty feeling settle deep within your gut, something about her gaze lingering on the tall man by your side made you feel uncomfortable.
"Caspian? I haven't seen you in ages! How are you these days?" She'd ask completely ignoring your presence. Your eye flickered from the long legged woman to your now tense boyfriend. Caspian was almost always relaxed and happy with you, so you immediately clocked his off behavior.
"Hey Ana, been good." Was his simple, curt response, his hand moved from it's warm spot on your waist to his pant pocket, (He felt his temper instantly rise and couldn't risk hurting you so he moved his clenched fist to his pocket.) and you felt silly about it afterwards but in that moment, that small action felt like a rejection. The ugly feelings brewing in your stomach made the drink on your tongue turn bitter.
"You look amazing Cas, I see you kept up with our gym routine after all huh?" She giggled as if it was an inside joke between them, her body faced him, now closer than before, and you felt like a stranger intruding on something personal, all too quickly, you felt your throat tighten.
"It's so crazy running into you here, I was just thinking about how much fun we had together, we should go out for a drink later, maybe catch up?"
Caspian stared long and hard at the woman but your emotions were quickly spiraling out of control, you could feel your gut twist at the thought of him entertaining her, and before you could hear his response, you muttered out a barley audible "Excuse me." To the pair, quickly making your retreat to the nearest bathroom, thanking the universe that it was empty because no sooner than you closed the door did your bottom lip start to tremble.
Had you stayed you would have seen the downright murderous look on your boyfriend's face.
In his head he's trying to figure out the best way to turn her down without embarrassing you at your job, it's the only reason he doesn't notice your sudden mood shift.
He was trying to process the woman's audacity, a curt decline on the tip of his tongue, when you suddenly disappeared from his side. In an instant panic, he not so subtly shoves his way past the woman to where he thinks you went.
He uses the tracker on your phone to track you down to the bathroom and fully intended on waiting by the door until you came out, but then he heard the sound he hated most in the world, you sniffling.
Bursts in the door like there's a fire, not caring about anything but getting to you, checking you over. He ignores your gasp and hushed whispers to get out before he got in trouble, and cradles your wet face between his big hands.
"What's wrong Honey? How can I help?" He's staring at you with those big red eyes, brows furrowed in concern, and you can't help the tearful giggle you let out at his behavior.
"It's stupid-"
"If it made my baby cry it's far from stupid." He corrects immediately, thumbs wiping at any stray tears left.
"That woman- the way she spoke to you. I just, I hated how that made me feel and I don't know- I'm sorry, we can just go back to the party okay?" You turn from him to face the mirror and in an attempt to brush past what you considered an embarrassing moment, begin wiping at the smeared mascara on your eyes.
He smacks his teeth at his own idiocy, he hadn't even considered how that stupid wench made you feel in the moment, god what must be running through your mind, he couldn't imagine an ex of yours trying to ask you out in front of him, the guilt swells immediately, he wanted to run back out there and throw that harlot down the stairs for making your pretty face fall the way it had.
Instead he made his way to the bathroom door and clicked the lock in place, you turned to face him but your questions died on your tongue as he made his way towards you with that particular dark look in his eye.
"Forgive me, my love. I didn't mean to make you upset, I just didn't wanna make a scene at your job." He says casually falling to his knees before you, his hands trailing up your calves, to your thighs, finally settling on the thin fabric of your underwear, he stared up from between your legs with the softest look on his face.
"Let me make it up to you Honey."
Gabe has a much more explosive reaction
You two are at the gym, Gabe was sweating and sitting there all gorgeous and shit, he's making sure you watch as he lifts, his veins bulging in his arms as he winks at you. "Be my spotter baby I need my motivation." He grits out with that wolfish smile stretched across his flushed face.
You weren't nearly as athletic as the man and sometimes it felt as if you didn't belong in the gym, but he was quick to snuff out these thoughts, swearing up and down he preformed better on his sets when you were watching, that he needed you by his side even if you weren't working out as well.
He not only wants you around because he can't get enough of you, but he also really wants you to see him be hot, unfortunately that meant everyone at the gym got to see it too.
"I'll be right back baby, gonna go grab you a water." You smile at his immediate pout, the grabby hands he makes as he demands a goodbye kiss, even though you'd only be gone a few moments, but that's all the time the blonde woman stalking up to him needs.
The stranger to you was an old fling of Gabe's, he barely recognized her when she invited herself to his personal space like she was allowed, the only reason he didn't immediately brush her off was because she said his name, he was confused as she neared him, her smile too wide to be genuine.
the blue haired giant was the best sex of her life and despite the fact that she saw his blatant affection for you, she made her move anyway.
You came back to quite the sight, Gabe sat stiffly on the machine he was at, his elbows on his knees as he stared up at the blonde beside him, his face set in that sinfully attractive hardened stare,
The woman currently leaning too close for comfort on his machine looked like someone out of a fitness magazine, she was fit, completely toned and gorgeous, you couldn't help the twinge of discomfort at how close they were, how they looked like the perfect couple.
You neared them awkwardly as her back was to you and heard her say, "It's been too long Gabriel, I miss you, god your body is still insane, what are your benching now 250? 300. You could definitely still toss me around the bed." Her tone was dripping in flirtation, she dragged a finger up the pole of the machine he sat on, leaning down to press her chest together.
Before you could think about turning away from the upsetting sight, Gabe abruptly stood up, his glare dead set on the woman, his eyes flickered to you, immediately clocking the way your shoulders shrunk in, how you seemed to deflate at the situation, he could practically read your mind, knowing how easily your brain went to the worst places, he felt his temper skyrocket at the mere idea of you being upset by this nobody.
"Baby! I think we should end this early yeah? I got a better idea for a workout that involves you, me, and my backseat." He says almost whining as he throws his sweaty body all over you, his arms holding you tight against his body as he kissed the top of your head, rocking into the hug.
"This place just let's anybody in, we should switch to a new gym." His glare turned to the woman, if looks could kill she'd be on the ground. "C'mon ma, let's go before I get belligerent."
Ricky fully ignores the interaction lmao it's so rude
You'd come to the Auto shop with a homemade lunch for your sweet Ricky as he forgot to pack his own and called you to bring him one (he definitely did this on purpose just to see you at work)
You enter the shop and start to head straight to the back before being stopped by a manicured hand snapping in your face rather rudely.
"Hi ma'am, you can't just walk in here, you have to make an appointment." The woman behind the receptionist desk was new, you'd never seen her in here before, she was practically sneering at you, her plastic, customer service smile held no warmth as she tapped her nail against the sign in sheet impatiently.
You laughed instinctually at the tense situation, trying to dispell the awkwardness, you didn't understand her hostility, "Oh my boyfriend works here, he's expecting me." You say offering her a friendly smile, trying to smooth over any unpleasantness.
"Well I'm going to need some identification." She says matter of factly, her body now blocking your path. "uh no?" You said not wanting the stranger to see your information, you'd come to the shop hundreds of times now, everyone knew who you were, everyone but this woman it seems.
She scoffed at your refusal her voice raising in anger as she glared at you, "If you don't cooperate I'll have to call security." She threatened not knowing how deep she was digging her grave.
"My love? What's going on." Ricky's deep, baritone voice suddenly called out from around the corner, he thought it was odd you hadn't appeared yet as his tracker app said you'd arrived at his work minutes ago, it wasn't like you to delay so he listened to his gut and went outside seeing you being harassed by the new receptionist.
His blood pressure rises instantly and he has to fight to keep his hands from yanking her away from you.
He'd only signed off on her hiring because he knew she was infatuated with him, they hooked up once a few years ago and she would do anything to have it happen again, of course Ricky had no intention of fulfilling her desires, he just needed someone he knew would keep their mouth shut if they happened to see/notice something funky with the shop.
But her value immediately diminishes the second she gets in your way, his glare could melt glass as he tells her a simple, but aggressive, "Move." He holds his arms out to you and when you curl into his touch he makes a point to kiss your temple, his focus completely on you. "Are you alright love? What was she doing?" He asks tenderly rubbing your face. The receptionist opens her mouth to respond but Ricky shuts her up with a single raised hand, "She was just asking for my ID, I brought your lunch!" You say excitedly, his gaze grows warm at the adorable sight before he turns to the woman, his eyes dead, his aura dark and imposing.
"Clean out your desk immediately, I want you out of my shop before I come back out here." His tone left no room for argument, almost threatening as he places a hand in the small of your back, gently leading you away. "You didn't need to do that for me-" he cuts you off with an intense, breath stealing kiss, "Of course I did, no one interrupts our time together."
Marcos had always been afraid of his promiscuous past coming back to haunt him, and his violent reaction to this shows.
The two of you had been at a club for a while now, both proper sloshed and sweating, hours of grinding on each other to every song that came on the thumping speakers, he's in heaven with his arms around your waist, his nose buried in your neck as he mouths needy kisses up and down your throat.
You motion towards the bar, your drunk body demanding more alcohol and he begins leading you towards it, his hands never leaving your body.
He all but pushes a guy out of his seat so you can rest there while he gets the bartenders attention. He freezes when the woman turns around. The bartender shoots him a knowing, flirty grin, leans over close and yells over the pounding music, "Hey Marcos baby, you come back for more? I can take my break right now if that's the case."
His eyes flicker to you and his heart stutters at the sad look on your face, be it the copious amounts of liquor you had in your body or how just how gorgeous the woman hitting on him was, you feel your spirits drop, your mind tortured you with images of them together, of him with another, and the insecurities bubble up faster than you can handle, "scuse' me." You drunkenly mutter clasping a hand over your mouth, your stomach felt queasy all of a sudden and you all but ran to the bathroom on shakey legs.
Marcos is seeing red, his mind panicking as he watches you retreat to the bathroom he feels sick himself at the thought of you leaving him, the fear that you may be comparing yourself to such a nothing person, the terrifying thought of this insignificant person making you see him different, it had his chest heaving in a barley concealed rage.
He fixes his burning stare on the bartender, his eyes holding pure malice as he holds himself back from pressing his thumbs into her eyes and slamming her into the bar until it broke.
He says nothing to her, his eyes making her so uneasy she baked away slightly, his mouth felt dry as he pushes and bullies his way past the crowd to barge into the bathroom where he finds you curled around the toilet, he's falling to his knees beside you in an instant, he keeps your hair from your face, a soothing hand on your back as you empty your stomach.
His words are soft and encouraging as he helps you to your feet, uncaring about his expensive clothes being dirtied, uncaring of how messy you look, his eyes are full of love, even a bit teary as he helps you to the sink, as you wash your mouth out he's wetting a paper towel and dabbing the cold cloth to your burning neck, "Oh baby, my sweet girl are you okay? I'm so sorry, come here let me see you."
The moment sobers him entirely, he's calling a deluxe Uber to pick you both up and sending a message to his twin about the bartender, he wanted the bitch dead for even momentarily causing you to frown, he's holding your swaying form against him protectively as he waits for the car, his mind swirling with thoughts of violence and revenge, how dare that waste of air upset you so much? The crime would be repaid in blood.
Manny has the most volatile reaction.
The two of you are a late night, semi exclusive car show, Manny loved watching the races, he stopped racing in them the second you said you worried for his safety but his love for the adrenaline filled sport remained, the classic cars were beautiful and he always smiled so brightly when you indulged his more risky interests.
He loved pointing out the racers he liked or hated, his favorite cars and why, sharing this with you was one of his favorite ways to pass time. You always looked so beautiful under the neon lights, the smell of gasoline in the air.
It's rare for him to leave your side when you're out and about so this happens in front of you, the two of you are cuddled up together, sat comfortably on the hood of his car, his arms around you as you leaned back into his chest, when a woman in leather saunters up to his car.
"Hey Manny, long time no see pretty boy." The woman coo's from her position, her eyes drinking him in, blatantly ignoring your existence.
"Yeah." Is Manny's only response, his grip on your hips tightening before he moves from holding you against him to stepping in front of you, keeping his body between you and what he felt was a threat.
His hair moved everytime a car whizzed by him, but he didn't flinch, his cold eyes trained on the woman from his past.
His voice was clearly irritated, tone leaving no room for friendly interpretation, and yet she persisted, taking a step closer to the tall man who had begun to clench his fists, his body trembling in unfiltered rage.
"You wanna' take another ride? This time if I win, I get my prize up front." Her tone was clear, her implication made more lewd as she looked him up and down.
"Don't talk to me like you know me. Don't talk to me like you're somebody." His voice was dripping venom as he spoke, and if he wasn't furious before, the sad, almost deflated look on your face at her comments made him see red.
The crowds of people were so thick and intense, the loud sounds of the revving engines and screaming spectators only added to his slip of control.
"Relax Manny baby! I'm just teasing you." She puts her hand on his chest and before you could blink the woman's body is flying out towards the road where a car smacks into her with a sick crunch, her limp body is dragged as the car speeds along, unaware of the carnage it caused, screams and shouts of horror come from all around you, people beginning to panic as Manny turns around, all malice gone from his face as he lifts you off the car and ushers you to the passenger seat without a word. "Time to go!" He all but sings as he peels out of the parking lot.
"Holy shit are you okay?" You asked him turning back to stare as the horrifying scene grew farther and farther from his rearview mirror. He placed a shaky hand on your thigh to calm himself as he spoke, "I'm okay baby girl, are you? I'm so so sorry you had to see that." He says, his only guilt came from your date night being cut short.
"Don't be sorry baby, no one could have known that would happen Jesus Christ." You put a hand to your chest trying to ease the fierce beat, he grabbed your free hand, bringing the back of your palm to his lips for a sweet kiss, his eyes crinkling in joy at the thought of her now crumpled body.
"Yeah, accidents happen."

Come A Little Closer
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Dean spent hours in bed. Not for the reason you may think. Research. Open books and scattered papers. You can visibly see how exhausted Dean is. So, you decide to give him a hand.
Warnings: 18+, minors dni!, smut, handjob,
A/N: Enjoy! Reblogs and likes mean the world to me :) Feel free to leave me requests! I know this isn't my best work </3 I'm also currently working on part two of "On The Clock."
12:43AM. Dean and I have been at this for six hours. Research for a single case. I was sitting against the headboard, laptop resting on my blanket covered thighs. Dean was originally resting against the headboard, now he's fully laid down with an open book resting against his chest.
I glanced down at him, grinning. "Are you just going to lay there?" He rolled his head to the side, looking at me with a tired green stare. “Yes in fact I am. We’ve been at this for hours, I think I’ve fried my brain.” He groaned, tossing his book to the foot of the bed. I softly laughed and tossed my own book aside, still looking down at him. “Just try and relax. We’ll call it a night and pick it up in the morning.” I slightly shifted under the blankets, attempting to adjust my partially numb legs.
Dean slightly shifted, planting his hand on my thigh. My eyes flicked to his hand. Watching as he slowly rubbed up and down my thigh. I turned to look at him again, just to find him already staring at me. Those tired green eyes quickly turned into fuck me eyes. “What?” I asked with a slight smirk. “You know what. C’mon.” He slightly tilted his head down, his gaze still piercing my soul.
“Two can play that game Winchester.” My smirk remained wide and devious as my left hand found his thigh, slowly inching more and more towards his crotch. I lowered my face to his, capturing his lips in a sweet kiss. His natural musk filling my senses. “Just relax.” I whispered, our faces still inches apart. His hot breath fanning against the crook of my neck, sending a series of shivers and goosebumps down my body.
Without breaking eye contact, my hand slowly slid past the waistband of his plaid pajama pants. His breathing slightly hitched as I began to palm his cock through his boxers, feeling him grow under my touch. "You're such a fucking tease." He groaned, letting his head hit the pillow. Dean was right, I am a fucking tease.
When we first started dating, I never intentionally teased him. I just slowly began to pick up on the little things I did, that drove him crazy. Wearing oversized shirts with only a thong underneath. The way my cleavage pops when I'm doing research at one of the library tables.
"Y/N- please." He begged. Oh god, he was begging. My core beginning to clench around nothing. My eyes met his, before flicking back down to his growing erection. I could feel my panties getting damper with every touch and twitch of his cock. He lifted his ass off the bed as he helped me slide his bottoms down to his ankles. His rock hard cock now on display, glistening with precum.
I slightly shifted my legs, squeezing them tightly together in an attempt to create any sort of friction. I could've sworn Dean's eyes darkened. He looked at me with lust filled eyed. A blush dancing across his freckled skin. Not wanting to make him wait any longer, I licked a broad stripe from the bottom of my palm to my finger tips. The vein in his cock pulsated as he watched this.
I quickly took ahold of his cock, slowly beginning to pump him in my fist. It felt like I was on fire. My core continuing to clench and throb, my nipples pebbling beneath my tank top. I watched his face closely as I continued to jerk him off, my hand moving a little faster now. His face was genuinely one of my favorite sights, especially during sex. The way his jaw goes slack, his lips forming an 'O'. His brows furrowed in pleasure, a series of moans and profanities rolling off his tongue. Fuck. It drives me up the walls- he drives me up the walls, in the best way possible.
I shifted a little closer to his cock on the bed, now using both my hands to pump him. My left hand continued to work his cock while my right hand snaked down between his legs to gently massage his balls, earning a moan from him. No guy would ever admit it, but it feels fucking amazing when you play with their balls.
"Fuck I'm gonna come," Dean moaned out as his eyes squeezed shut. His hips gently thrusting up into my hand as hot spurts of come landed on my hands and his stomach. I looked at him, waiting for him to open his eyes. Once he opened his eyes, he looked at me. "You continue to amaze me." He said in a breathless tone, still trying to recoup himself after his orgasm. I leaned back and snatched up a wad of tissues from the box that sat atop the nightstand. Carefully, I began to clean up my hands and his cock before laying down beside him.

Logan (X-Men Evolution) x Bartender!Reader
So I guess my writer's block is over. I suddenly remembered that X-Men Evolution was a series from my childhood that I truly loved and hoped they would make more seasons, I'm rewatching it because of how good it is. Ah, good memories.
This contains slight NSFW themes and mention of abuse.
Tumblr media
You can't stop looking at him, the handsome man on the counter. It was impossible to not notice him. Built like a lumberjack, with a rugged face and a five o'clock shadow, he was the kind of though guy you didn't want to mess up with, but somehow you found it attractive.
He always came at night, on time like a clock, not a second sooner or later.
He is a regular, but not much of a talker. That only awaked your curiosity, but you don't want to push him too far, the possibility of driving him away scares you.
He always asks for the same thing, a glass of whiskey. By the seventh time, you have it ready for him. He acknowledges you with a slight nod of his head, but never says anything else.
He is a smoker, not only you can smell it on him but you have caught him more than once lighting himself one.
He is the main reason you close so late, honestly. You just can't get enough of him.
You should be ashamed of yourself. After everything you went through with your ex-husband, after all the pain he caused you, now you were pining after a man who seemed nothing but trouble. When would you learn.
Yet, you feel a magnetic pull towards him. When you work, be it cleaning glasses, serving drinks, or just calmly enduring the tirades of some drunken idiot, you can almost feel his eyes glued to you, following your every moment. Like a predator, analysing his prey.
It took something tragic for you two to finally get close.
You had been so careful, so meticulous with your new life, that you had felt confident about your safety, too confident to take some preventive measures. Idiot.
It all started when a letter arrived in the mail, nothing unusual, maybe it was some bill. But you froze when you recognised the handwriting. No. It couldn't be. It had to be a mistake, he couldn't have found you so easily.
You carefully looked through the window, panicking. You nearly fell back on your butt when you thought you saw him, hidden in one of the alleways.
Your daily routine was disrupted, everytime you turned around you feared you would find him, staring at you with that diabolical smile plastered on his face. You seriously considered calling in sick to work, but you really needed the money and hopefully he wouldn't try anything in a place full of people.
As you worked, your hands trembled, your eyes darting nervously to each patron that entered the bar, silently praying you didn't recognise anyone else but your mysterious lone wolf.
You could sense his keen eyes on you. Observing and learning. You forced yourself to calm down and put on a brave smile, the last thing you wanted was to cause a conmotion over nothing.
The night seemed to pass quietly, no more problems than the occasional drunkard. Somehow this felt like one of the longest and most exhausting shifts of your life, each hour felt like another ball to your chain.
Closing time arrived, and there wasn't anyone left but you and your cleaning duties. For safety reasons, you locked the entrance and the backdoor, and settled a new time record for cleaning. You just wanted to go to the safety of your home.
Fate had other plans for you.
You felt a chill run down your spine as soon as you locked the backdoor when you heard his voice. He was there, waiting you to get out, perfectly knowing where this exit was. A knowledge that could only be acquired if he had been watching you for the last days.
Fear paralized you, The alley only had a way out and he was locking your only exit. Unlocking the door again would take too long, by the time you were able to get in, he would have already caught you.
You knew he was enjoying it, the sadistic bastard. This, among many other things, was the reason you had run away from your house, left your friends and family behind, swapped jobs, changed your address, your phone number, your entire identity. But it had been all for nothing, because he had managed to find you again.
Before you even knew it, he had forcefully grabbed you and thrown you against the wall. It had been so long since you had felt a mind numbing pain like this, you had nearly forgotten it. Your head was spinning, but you still could manage to make out the mocking insults and feigned concern in his voice. He was always good at playing the victim. It was you the one to blame, who made him act like this.
Tears burned in the corner of your eyes. This was it, if he didn't kill you there, he would drag you back into that miserable hole you used to call home and make you wish he had killed you right then and there.
The sudden bright light nearly blinded you and for a second you believed you had speedrunned into heaven. But the roaring motorbike and the heavy footsteps that followed suggested otherwise.
There he was, your mysterious stranger, in all his dark and broody glory. Standing like a man who had been in way too many fights and had won all of them.
You hear your ex shouting at him to fuck off, threatening him with violence. But he just stood there, impassively. He almost looked uncaring, but you knew better. You could see the way his jaw tensed, his fists clenched and the veins in his neck swelled. He was an animal ready to pounce, just waiting for the right moment.
And the right moment came, because is your ex husband was anything it was an arrogant asshole who as soon as he could tried to throw a punch that never landed.
It ended as fast as it had started. You could tell, by the way your protector's eyes were glowing he was left craving for more but was doing a tremendous effort restraining himself.
You barely noticed him picking you up bridal style and sitting you with him on the bike, barely heard him asking for your address and you giving it to him so freely, not even bothering to spare a glance at the unconscious body of the man that had made the last four years of your life a living hell.
The ride back home was made in complete silence. You knew he preferred it that way, and honestly, so did you. But the second you set foot on your apartment block, the spell was broken and replaced with something else.
You swear you didn't know what came over you, but thank God you did. Because before you noticed, both of you were locked in a passionate embrace.
Your tongue explored his mouth, hungry for more. You marvelled at the sharpness of his canines and wondered what he could do to you with them.
After a few seconds he pulled away, a silent question in his eyes, he was asking for permission, making sure you wouldn't regret it. You nodded so hard you thought your head would fall off.
The beast was unleashed, he lifted you with inhuman strength and while you barely managed to snake your legs around his waist, he attacked a sensitive spot in your neck with those sharp fangs that drove you crazy.
You never thought a man would make you feel this way. This primal feeling, this glorious beast of a man was showing you things about yourself that you never thought you'd love.
Because what you did in your bedroom was more than fucking, it paled in comparison. It would leave you sore in the morning and maybe this time you'd really have to call in sick, but as long as you awoke in the arms of your savior everything would be alright.
As you drifted to sleep, you heard him whisper his name in a low rumble that made your body shake. You hummed. Logan, huh? It kinda fitted him.

ミ★ {Can I get a Hug?}... ft: S. Gojo
⇢Pairing: Satoru Gojo x Gn!Reader ⇢Tags: Fluff & A little hint of angst ⇢Author's Note: I've recently gotten back into writing and wanted to take my hand at writing for tumblr, so this is my attempt at that lol. ⇢Word Count:1.1k ˜”*°•.˜”*°• ★ •°*”˜.•°*”˜
The night began like any other for you. After arriving home to your shared apartment, you started your usual post-work routine- cooking, cleaning and of course exchanging the occasional text with your boyfriend about whether he’d make it home on time. Unfortunately, tonight was one of those nights he would not. But you didn't mind, you knew how important Satoru’s job was. After all, his work was crucial—he was saving the world from curses. Though with that in mind, you carried on, sending a quick yet slightly sad text back saying ‘okay’ and that you loved him, before setting a plate for him to the side
Time seemed to drag after that brief exchange with your goofy sorcerer boyfriend, but you pushed through. With dinner eaten, the apartment spotless, and everything prepared for tomorrow, you found yourself in a rare moment of stillness. You glanced at the clock on the wall, noting the time before deciding to settle down on the couch with a book and wait up for him. But you hadn’t accounted for the unpredictable nature of his work. Just 30 minutes into your reading, you found yourself dozing off.
You had only intended to close your eyes for a few minutes, but when you opened them, you found yourself in complete darkness. Noticing the sudden change in lighting, you guessed Satoru was probably home by now. Slowly rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you sat up on the couch with a yawn. Your vision now adjusted, you couldn’t help but jump back in slight terror—there he was, sitting on the floor, just staring at you with his cerulean, blue eyes.
“Satoru?...” you called out, but there was no response. You tried again, with the same result. “How long have you been sitting here, love?” you asked, your eyes scanning his disheveled form before glancing at the clock. Still, no response. You knew that sometimes the cases he dealt with were hard, but you’ve never seen him like this before. Growing concerned, you slowly got off the couch, moving carefully so as not to startle him, and began to approach him.
But before you could speak, he tilted his head and looked up at you. “Can I get a hug?” he asked, his voice tinged with a mix of vulnerability and sadness. He sat there, arms slightly extended, his eyes searching yours for a sign of acceptance and warmth. The atmosphere thickened with unspoken emotions, the simple request carrying a semi-unsettling weight on your heart. Unsure of the reason behind this sudden shift, you give in anyway, wrapping your arms around him tightly as he pulls you closer to his chest.
You decide not to speak at first, not wanting to disrupt the calming atmosphere, but the rapid beating of his heart and the sound of his uneven breaths weigh heavily on your mind. Gently, you begin to stroke the vibrant white locks atop his head, hoping to soothe him. Gradually, you begin to notice the change—his heart slows, and his breathing steadies. Sensing this is your moment, you approach carefully. “Toru…” you coo softly, pulling away slightly to take his face into your hands. He hums in response, eyes closed as if he's trying to avoid you. “...Do you want to talk about it?” you ask softly, your eyes tracing his features. Even in distress, he looks beautiful, you muse to yourself as you wait for his response. But as the silence stretches on, you take it as his answer. Not wanting to push him any further tonight, you start to get up, intending to help him through his nightly routine, before just getting in bed and cuddling. Though just as you reach your full height, Satoru quickly grabs your hand. “...The case today,” he mumbles. “Hm?” you ask, glancing down at him. “The case today,” he repeats, a bit louder this time. “What about it?” you ask curiously, slowly lowering yourself back down. “They really got to me today…” he swallows before continuing, “The curse... it got in my head.” “Got in your head how?” you ask softly, trying to mask the nervousness in your voice. “It used you to throw me off… but it felt so real,” Satoru adds almost blankly, his gaze fixed on your thighs. “Toru… talk to me,” you murmur gently, placing your hand on his cheek in a final attempt to remind him that you’re real & right in front of him. Your heart aching as you watch the usual confidence in your boyfriend’s eyes give way to something softer, almost fragile. "You were so mean..." he mumbles clear enough for you to hear, "kept saying it was all a joke, and how you could never love a fucked monster like me," he continued, his voice trembling. "Said you were going to leave... I-I don’t want you to leave, y/n." He adds, his voice breaking in the process, 'I’ll do better! I promise! I love you… please, just don’t leave… please." he pleads, leaving you to sit in stunned silence as tears well up in your eyes. 'Oh, Toru...' you whisper softly, before encasing yourself around him once more.
You hold him tightly, feeling the weight of his fears and the depth of his vulnerability. The room is quiet except for the sound of his uneven breathing, gradually calming as he buries his face into your shoulder. "I'm not going anywhere, Toru," you whisper, your voice steady despite the tears that threaten to spill over. "I love you, and nothing will change that." His grip on you tightens as if he's trying to anchor himself in your presence. Slowly, you feel the tension in his body begin to ease. You gently stroke his hair, offering him the comfort he so desperately needs.
"Let's get some rest," you suggest softly, pulling back just enough to meet his eyes, still filled with a lingering sadness but softened by your words. He nods, the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Together, you help him up, guiding him through the familiar motions of your nightly routine. As you finally crawl into bed, he pulls you close, holding you as if he's afraid to let go. And there, in the quiet of the night, you both find solace in each other's arms, knowing that no matter what, you're in this together.

Attack Dog pt.2
Sweet Pea X Reader enemies to lovers
-------------------------------------
Hey wait up Brass Knuckles” Sweet Pea easily reached you in a light jog. You gritted your teeth to push down the pain of the spasm in your leg at the end of its contractions. You pulled your hood up before returning an arm to your thigh.
“So I'm not even gonna get a thank you Princess?” You stopped dead, if even to just give your leg a break from your weight.
“What do you want a fucking medal?” you shot.
“Listen, from where I'm stood, you need me a lot than I need you right now, so you wanna maybe try another tone? Let me help you home” You just rolled your eyes at him and began to limp along again. Sweet Pea went to put an arm around you to support your weight only to be met with the palms of your hands into his chest pushing him away.
“Do. Not. Touch. Me.” You snapped.
“Okay fine, hobble along, maybe I should go back and tell them where you've gone to or who you are?” You stopped again, your leg sending a shot of warning pain down to your toes. You exhaled loudly before stretching out an arm allowing Sweet Pea to pass beneath it and support your weight with his shoulders.
“What are you even doing out this far this late?” He didn't leave the silence between you stay that long.
“Trying to sort through my thoughts”
“Yes I hear punching the leaders of gangs is very good for that” you glanced worriedly at him.
“What do you mean by that?”
“I mean what I said, or is that rain jacket cutting the blood flow to your ears” he threw your early words back at you.
“I didn't know that's who he was, a weird man grabbed me, it was instinct”
“It's a real shame you hate Serpents so much, that was a very Serpent thing to do” you scoffed at him.
“Why'd you even help me anyways?”
“I was in between shifts selling drugs to children” he gave a small laugh and you fought away a smile. You both carried on along the road for awhile without speaking.
“This changes nothing”
“Whatever you say Princess”
“Stop calling me that”
“Fine, I'll go back to attack dog, seems more fitting now anyways” you didn't care about the pain in your leg, you snatched your arm back from over him and tucked it into your side. Your surroundings started to become more familiar to you as you got closer to the Northside once again. Sweet Pea slowed behind you and you turned, surprised he didn't badger you about not letting him help.
“What?”
“Nothing I just… I just don't like being over there without my friends” Sweet Pea nodded in the direction of where you grew up and you couldn't help but laugh.
“Afraid of the little Northsiders? Very surprising” you teased but he didn't quip back.
“If anyone asks, you weren't on the Southside alone, I wasn't on the Northside alone, everyone stayed where they're supposed to” you nodded in agreement, happy to forget this night. Your cadence evened as your leg finally relaxed after being electrified.
“Well….I got it from here, thanks I guess”
“Wow who knew Northsiders had manners?”
“Who knew Serpents even knew the word manners?” He scoffed at you before gesturing for you to keep walking without him.

Sweet Pea POV
Monday morning came around, the junior Serpents were alive with discussions of last Friday night.
“I heard a Ghoulie girl came up and clocked him”
“I heard it was a girl from New York”
“I heard it was his long lost daughter” I buried a smile at my friends and their theories. Thank god no one got a good look at her. Why do I even care? She's so nasty to us. It kept me awake all night. Why did I help her? Why am I still thinking about it? I looked out from my locker to ask Jughead a question to find him staring longingly at YN. I tried not to roll my eyes. Our friends lost in their theories.
“What's up Jones?”
“Nothing”
“Nah, you're looking at your attack dog more like she's a cuddly Pomeranian” I closed the locker and leaned on it alongside him.
“She's not like that normally, she just has a lot on her plate”
“And do you also wanna be on that plate?” Couldn't help myself, he pushed me sideways along the locker smiling.
“Maybe I did once but the way she looks at me now….she hates me”
“No no, she looks at me like she hates me, she looks at you like she's trying to figure out her next move with you. Just give her the time and space to figure it out” his head shot in my direction.
“And you know this because why? You look at her a lot?” If I was being honest I did find my eyes on YN a lot, every class we shared, she was more interesting that whatever the teachers were droning on about.
“No no, just an observation I made, part of my job to be….. observant” he looked at me like he didn't believe me. I didn't believe me. Lucky for me he didn't speak whatever he was thinking. I took a stolen glance at YN laughing down the hall with her friends. I wish I could make her laugh like that.
“Right I've had enough, I'm gonna talk to her today, I can't keep going on pretending I don't miss her”
“Careful Jones, that's not very Serpent of you”
“Yeah…but maybe I don't want to be a Ser-” I cut him off, my temper taking me as I caught his shirt.
“Don't finish that sentence unless you mean it. You're either with us or against us” our friends stopped gossiping and stared at us. I released my grip before pushing off the locker and heading down the hall. I don't like when people use me and my friends. Was he just using us until he got back to here? I met YNs eyes, she saw everything. Good job Sweet Pea I'm sure that'll help the situation.
-
I sat on the end of bleachers of the football pitch during lunch, the only place I could have a cigarette without a teacher freaking out at me.
“Yanno that'll kill you?” I turned to find YN sat a little distance from me.
“Funny, Jones said the same thing about you to me” I hear her give a half-suppressed laugh at me. Not quite the hearty laugh I heard from her this morning but I'll take what I can get.
“What was that with Jughead this morning? Tell him what happened with us on Friday?”
“Us? Oh no no Princess, you get all the credit for your right hook, all the blame too” I crushed the cigarette into the bleacher before chewing on some gum.
“You know what I meant” she kept her gaze on the field of football players doing their lunch time training as she spoke.
“Don't worry I didn't say anything. I was just giving him advice on what you need-”
“-And how the hell would you know what I need!”
“Well I think you need a good fuck cause that's the only thing I think that'll get you to stop being so up tight-” her head shot to me, no longer concerned with who saw us talking.
“-but I settled for the old reliable give her time and space” I watched her chest release the full capacity of air from her lungs before taking another deep breath. She shuffled slightly before zipping up her sweatshirt. Oh shit I was just staring at her chest.
“I didn't…I didn't mean that I want to be the one to….fuck you…I meant …” I didn't know what I meant so I shut myself up and waited for the bleachers to swallow me whole. She scoffed before returning her eyes to the field, watching Archie passing the ball around.
“I'm not normally like this, I'm just finding it hard to find my feet back here again. So much change here and when I was out moving house every few months the only thing that kept me sane was knowing this place would stay my constant. Now that's changed too” her head dropped down slightly with her lowered tone.
“I umm I don't know why I just told you that”
“The Serpents are my constant, I know you don't like us but they were the only ones to care about me growing up. I don't like when that's disrespected, that's what the thing with Jughead and I was about this morning”
“Careful there snake brain, your human side is showing” I grinned at her comment. The lunch bell rang out across the school, sending YN and me our separate ways for the day, the whole interaction not leaving my thoughts for the rest of the week

Feral
A/N: I'm feeling silly, so why not post an almost 3k little fic of TF141? I have literally no thoughts other than 'hey, why not' so no clue if I'll continue this or not. Just fooling around! This is my first time posting anything like this by me, so don't come for me if I got the terms wrong. Also, I'm a first-person girly, so forgive me.
Warnings: I'm pretty vague, but for full disclosure, possible SA mention? (Nothing explicit or even mentioned, but more a general vibe, sorry that's not more specific) shooting, guns, very minor character deaths, f!reader
Word Count: 2.9k
Read part two here.
Masterlist
I’m absolutely feral and determined to make sure everyone knows it.
Being in a male-dominated field hasn’t been easy and I’ve tried a lot of avenues before settling on this one. Something about being a female medic just really seems to set off everyone’s internal misogyny and nothing shuts them up faster than the little female medic literally punching their teeth in. I get into three fights my first month after being assigned to the 141.
The first fight I get into, I nearly bite a man’s finger off. (He was pointing it in my face and I warned him before going for it, so—deserved.) The second, I punch a man so hard while he’s talking that he bites off the tip of his tongue. (If he wanted to keep it intact, then he should have stopped wagging it.) During the third, I come away holding a chunk of a soldier’s hair. (He touched mine without permission and gave it a little tug. Enough said.)
After that, people seem to get the message. There are still a few smartasses that press their luck, but usually those situations are diffused without physical means. My relationship with my team however…that’s a bit more complicated.
I meet each of them when I arrive, the hulking soldiers lined up like pallbearers waiting for the coffin. I shook their hands, exchanged names, then didn’t say another word. None seemed to know exactly how to react to me and I wasn’t sure how to act around them. We’re supposed to trust each other with our lives, but I wouldn’t trust a single one to pour me a cup of tea. They struggle too, but for different reasons. They’re clearly close and know each other well, that’s why they’re such a deadly team, and I’m an outsider. A suspicious and cautious outsider, although I try to temper my attitude into passive indifference while I try to figure them out.
Naturally, Soap tries to break the ice first.
“You’ve got a thousand-yard stare that could rival Ghost’s, lass.” He comments one day in a charming Scottish accent as he risks sitting next to me in the mess hall. “You can bend my ear, if the fancy strikes ya.”
“I doubt that it will.” My voice is cool, indifferent, and I can’t keep myself from leaning away from him a bit. Too many times did I let myself trust another service member only for the friendship to quickly turn into something else. Something I did not want.
Soap quirks a brow and takes the cold shoulder in his stride. “But if it does. Don’t hesitate to find me.” He pats my shoulder before walking off and I feel the stirrings of something in my stomach as I watch him go. Loneliness, longing, the desire to be part of…something. I shake my head and throw away the rest of my food as I leave the mess hall, trying to ignore that little ember flickering in my gut.
*     *     *
Gaz tries next, but it’s a bit more subtle. Be it by luck or some other divine intervention, none of the team were ever present when I got into the fights. But they definitely heard about them afterward. There’s no judgement in their gazes, I’m sure they heard why I got into those fights, but there is curiosity. Gaz shifts a touch closer after a briefing about an upcoming mission and I clock the movement instantly, my eyes cutting to his. Gaz’s eyebrows pop up and the corner of his mouth lifts warmly. “Heard you were in a hell of a fight recently.” He starts, an elbow propped up on the arm of the chair he’s relaxed back into.
“Her last.” Price says with a pointed glance towards me and I nod, but we both know I didn’t start any of the fights. I simply ended them.
“The boys telling the tale were practically shaking in their boots.” Gaz presses on and I can’t help feeling a brief bit of pleasure at that. Price distracts himself with maps and papers on the other side of the table, but I’m not foolish enough to think that he isn’t listening. Soap perks up, turning to me as well while Ghost lurks near the door.
“Glad to hear the message got across.” I keep my voice low with little inflection. Usually I’m up and out the door after a meeting, but since everyone else is lingering, I figure I can give it a chance.
There’s a quiet hum from behind me that has my back straightening. “Trying to scare off the whole base?” Ghost asks and it’s the first time he’s asked me anything directly.
My head turns so that I can see his silhouette behind me. “Not all of us strike an imposing figure and wear a scary mask. Sometimes people have to see the blood on your teeth to know that you mean what you say.” I keep my voice soft to avoid the appearance of a threat, but let the words have an impact. Gaz and Soap glance at one another while Price’s hands stall over his papers across the table. A beat passes, then Ghost huffs what could almost be considered a laugh. The sound gives me a strange sense of relief as the tension over the room breaks.
“Can’t wait to see you sink your teeth into the enemy then, sergeant.” The corner of my mouth lifts and I nod, glad to have the opportunity to prove myself. I turn a bit more in my seat to see Ghost’s piercing eyes and don’t flinch away.
“I’ll save a blood-stained smile just for you, Lieutenant.” I promise and I think I hear Gaz swallow while Soap blinks. Ghost responds with a simple nod and I swear I see the fabric of his mask shift as he smirks before he slips out of the room.
*     *     *
The first real test comes when we’re sent out on our first mission together.
A month after I’m stationed with them, we’re sent out and it’s a bit jarring for all of us. They’ve been on their own for a while and introducing a new person into that dynamic…it’s enough to make everyone a bit off-center. But I’m used to sliding into places that I’m not wanted and I’m not about to be an idiot and risk everyone’s lives by being difficult, so I tuck myself into the small gaps left by the men. It’s not like they don’t want me here anyway, they’re just…apprehensive. Same as me.
We spend the first day trekking up a mountain through snow and I push myself hard, wanting to prove myself and leave no room for anyone to call me lazy or unfit. The entire day, I’m on Price’s heels as he leads us and I soak in his nod of approval despite myself as we file into an empty cabin for the night. I’m utterly exhausted, but I force myself to look through the house to memorize the layout before returning to the living room. Soap is eagerly setting up the hot plate for us to have a hot meal, even if it is an MRE, while the others are laying out their sleeping bags. They lay them in a row and I watch with trepidation as I put my bag down in a corner of the room, then sit alongside it as I rest for just a minute.
My eyes shut before I realize and I only become aware of it when I hear boots stop in front of me and they snap open. I look up instantly to see Price standing over me and I shove myself up onto my feet, teetering just slightly as I focus on his face. “Sir?”
“At ease.” He soothes and my shoulders lax just a touch at the command. “It’ll get below freezing tonight, so we’re huddling together. I’ve put you between Soap and I, but you can settle where you want.” Price chooses his words carefully with his clear eyes looking over my face for a reaction, but it’s clear that this isn’t optional.
“…yes, sir.” I respond, glancing over at the spot left bare for my sleeping bag. Anxiety gathers in my stomach and my hands clench at my sides. “Permission to take first watch?”
He considers me a moment, fingers smoothing over his facial hair. “Granted.” I glide away to the other side of the house and perch on a window sill as I look over the snowy landscape. Soap is kind enough to bring me my MRE and stalls next to me for a few moments.
“Feel free to snuggle close tonight. Or kick me if I start to snore.” He winks at me and my lips barely twitch at his effort to relieve the tension I know is clear throughout my body. After that, no one bothers me as night falls. The cold seeps into the house and I keep myself curled into a ball to conserve body heat even as I shiver. My anxiety about the impending sleeping arrangements keeps me awake and alert easily enough, but I can’t keep watch all night.
“Oi.” Ghost’s deep whisper disturbs the near silence and my head whips to my left, seeing him standing a few feet away. He moved quietly. Impressive for a man of his size. “I’m taking over. Get some sleep and get warm.” He flicks his chin back towards the others. I swallow and reluctantly leave my perch, brushing past him before I feel his gloved hand catch my bicep. My hand clenches into a fist automatically as I turn back to him to find his gaze locked on mine, his eyes dark and considering.
“I don’t know your story. Price has kept your file under wraps and we trust him enough to accept that. But whatever you’ve been through, don’t assume that you’re going to go through the same thing with us.” I’m pinned in place by his gaze and his words, my eyes widening slightly. I hadn’t known Price was keeping my file to himself, but the show of consideration and loyalty surprises me. It also hits me deep.
“I hear you.” I whisper back and he lets me pull my arm from his light grip. “But I’m not about to trust anyone blindly.”
He nods once. “Fine. But don’t rule it out either.” He quirks a brow at me pointedly before pulling away and settling in my place in the window, effectively ending the brief conversation. His words swirl around in my head while I head over to the others and gather my sleeping bag in my arms as I squeeze it. I kneel on the floor and roll it out between Price and Soap while my heart thunders in my chest. I’m still shivering as I do my best to be quiet while unzipping my sleeping bag, then slip down into it. My shoulders bump against Soap and Price before I shrink, curving my shoulders inward to try not to touch anyone despite that very much not being the point of sleeping like this.
Price shifts and turns towards me while I freeze, still shivering in place while I hold my breath until I see that his eyes are still closed. I release a small sigh of relief before choking on it as his eyes flash open. My teeth sink into my bottom lip as an apology perches on my tongue, but he says nothing. Instead, he shifts a bit closer without taking his eyes off mine, then lays an arm next to me before holding his other up a bit. An invitation.
I swallow and blink a few times as I take in the offer. Out of everyone, Price is the easiest for me to be around. He treats me like anyone else, he keeps his distance, and while he doesn’t hesitate to wield his authority, he wears it lightly. “Make a choice, soldier.” He murmurs with a voice gruff and deep from sleep. My jaw locks as a violent shiver wracks me before I force myself to shimmy closer to Price. I’m not about to freeze my ass off because of idiocy or stubbornness. He takes that as my answer and reaches out, hands wrapping around me and gathering me to him. The only noise I make is a small squeak as he pulls me against his hard body and I melt almost instantly into his warmth.
He cradles my face against the warm crook of his neck with his cheek resting against the top of my head. His other arm wraps around my waist and his hips shift slightly so his legs drape over mine while still in our respective sleeping bags. Like a heavy blanket. My heart is still beating fast as a hummingbird’s wings while my body fights my mind, but luckily, I’m so cold and tired that instinct wins out. My eyes shut and I feel my cheeks heat as his hand falls to the back of my neck, his gloved fingers gently kneading the skin. “Thanks.” I breathe and his grip tightens around me for a moment before he releases a long breath, draping me in the scent of his cigars. I don’t hear Price make another sound because I’ve fallen asleep before he takes another breath.
*     *     *
Price wakes early the next morning and I feel it the instant that he moves. I pull away without hesitation and his arms fall from around me while I avoid his gaze, my cheeks hot. I’m quick to roll up my sleeping bag and check over my pack while I cool down a bit. The morning passes and no one says a thing about our sleeping arrangements despite every soldier having to pass by Price and I while they took watch. Their eyes linger between us a bit, but I’ll take that over any smart comments.
We move out and the mission goes smoothly enough. Gaz and I perch on a cliffside while the others clear a town below. He’s my spotter while I keep a steady eye on the areas they’re heading into through my scope. Being a medic means I have steady hands, which makes me a hell of a sniper.
“So…did you know the Captain before being stationed here?” Gaz says quietly, the first words not mission related that he’s said to me today.
I scoff softly and keep my eye glued to my scope. “No. And if this is a way to get me to talk about the position Price and I were in this morning, it’s a poor segway. It was cold. We were all pressed together like sardines. That’s the end of it.”
“Right, right, sure.” He agrees and silence falls over us again. For a moment. “Ghost and I spoon all the time. Soap too. Like three little peas in a pod.”
I snort, unable to keep the corner of my mouth from lifting. “And leave Price out? Criminal.”
Gaz chuckles and the sound is warm, especially in this cold landscape. “Oh we invite him. He just doesn’t usually show much interest.”
“Hm. He is the captain. Maybe he has higher snuggle standards.”
“You saying the rest of us aren’t snuggle material?”
“Your words, not mine.”
“Ouch, newbie. You strike for the heart.”
“I’m a sniper and a medic. It’s kind of my job.”
Gaz chuckles again and I realize that I’m actually…having fun? At least a little bit, anyway. “I’ll get a laugh out of you eventually, newbie.” My mouth opens to reply before I see a flash of movement in the town below.
Two figures pass by a second-floor window and I spot a hatch on the roof. I focus and take a breath as I aim at the hatch, waiting. I take a second to flick on my coms. “Two tangos on the northeast roof. Hold position.” The hatch begins to open while I remain steady, all my attention on that roof and my gun.
“Copy.” Price’s voice comes over the coms before there’s silence. The hatch opens and I wait for them both to get out, making sure it’s closed behind them before shooting. My breath funnels out of my chest and I make the shots without blinking, the action practically reflexive after so long in service. Both fall without getting to fire off a shot. I’m pretty sure I hear Gaz curse quietly beside me.
“Tangos down. You’re clear to move forward.” I report, heaving a relieved sigh as I see them move through the last stretch of town without incident.
“Copy, move out. Nicely done.” Price responds and I finally get to move out of my horizontal position. I stretch just a bit, wincing as my muscles pinch from being in the same position for so long, before I pack my gun and turn to Gaz who is shaking his head slightly.
“You took out those guys like a damn surgeon.”
The corner of my mouth lifts again as we head out. “Sniper and medic, remember? Let’s get out of here. Your comrades are missing their third pea in their pod.” I comment dryly and he grins, following me down the path where we agreed to meet the others.
“Did you just make a joke?”
“Absolutely not.”
“You did. I’m flattered to be the first one to hear it. Was starting to worry you didn’t have a sense of humor at all.” I roll my eyes and we keep arguing playfully as we go. Gaz reports my shots to the team, talking me up while I shake my head, but from then on, he calls me Surgeon. It catches on and the others follow suit, but more often than not, they just call me G.

Birthdays? (Levi x reader)
Tumblr media
Cw: small mentions of negligent parent and sibling's death.
Note: Omg, reader is almost disgustingly optimistic here I'm almost cringing 😭. I found this as an old WIP and I'm too tired to even edit it lol. So it's kind of ew.
.
"Birthday?" Levi stared at you sceptically, unsure where the curiosity came from.
"Yes, sir. Birthday."
When Levi had stared at you silently, you looked up. Actually horrified. "Wait, no way. Tell me you know what birthdays are–"
"Of course I know—what the hell do you think of me?" He huffed defensively, scowling at you in annoyance.
"Yeah well, just in case you don't, it's the day when you're born."
"Shut up," he groans. "What do you actually want?"
"What? I'm just curious." You leaned back on your chair, raising an eyebrow at his accusation.
"Why would you want to know that? Why would you even care?"
"I don't know. I just do. Go on, tell me."
"No." He replies flatly. "You tell me what's actually your intent. You're always up to some shit. I don't trust you, this has to be a trick of yours of some sort."
"Ouch?" You gasp in mock offense.
Levi stared at you, searching your face. Then he sighed. "I'm not sure"
You were surprised. You didn't expect that answer. "Like..at all? You don't remember at all? What did you put in the forms when you joined the military?"
He hesitated, thinking about it. "....I remember. Sort of. Just..not sure." He shrugged. "I remember my mom doing something special for me on a certain day every year but it was so long ago I can't pinpoint which day it was."
"Pick a guess, go on." You leaned forward excitedly, eyes shining.
He scoffed at your eagerness, but then shifted his eyes downcast. And he was deep in thought, in a time long gone. "I mean.." He spoke in a low voice, his tone unsure. "If I had to guess, I'd say late December. The weather would be cold. And...a lot more people would come down here from the surface to for...entertainment because of new year holiday."
You remembered that his mom was a prostitute. You waited a few seconds, closely observing his face for any hint of uneasy or that he was uncomfortable before continuing again.
"So...like 30-31 December?"
"Nah." He shook his head. "A little earlier perhaps. Like around 25th I think. At least that's what I submitted in the papers."
You thought about it for a few seconds, eyes on him as he stared of to somewhere distant.
"So.." You said. "You've... never celebrated your birthday since..right?"
"Are you joking?" He huffed frustratedly, almost affronted that you even thought of it. "Look at my life, this seems celebratory to you? I try not to die everyday."
"Yes but...that's no reason not to celebrate a birthday." You spoke slowly, shrugging.
Levi shook his head. He couldn't even believe you thought he would celebrate such a... thing like a birthday. As if there wasn't enough shit in his life.
"What am I? 11? It's just a day. It's nothing special. The sun rises in the east, sets at the west. There are 24 hours and the clock ticks just regularly. Why should it be any different?"
"But.." You seemed almost surprised about how he viewed it. "That's not true. Birthdays are special."
He raises an eyebrow, unamused.
"Well, I mean," You add almost defensively, but also in an attempt to make him understand." It means that..many many years ago, a life was created right? In this very day, a heart started to beat and a pair of lungs took their first breath. A whole damn human being... how is that..how is that not special, captain?" You say, resting your head on your folded arms above his desk, staring at him.
He frowned at you, as if he can't quite understand why you're so insistent to convince him. Also slightly confused to hear the way you thought about it. "...you romanticize everything."
"That's because the world is a beautiful place."
"Not for people like us. For you perhaps."
"No, sir. You just need to know how to see." You grinned, rising from the chair. You walked to the window that was behind his chair, leaning over the edge as fresh air caressed your face gently. "Have you ever seen the sunset? And the sunrise? That smell when the first rain hits the ground, soaking up earth? The soft little sounds, and maybe if you're lucky a rainbow too? When stars glitter all over the sky and it's a full moon night? You see it everyday, and yet it's everyday you're left just as mesmerized than the day before."
"I don't like it when you're being philosophical"
You sighed. "Look..I'm not saying it's not cruel." You turned your head so you can look at him. His head was turned, eyes on his paperwork. "But..that's the price to pay. Being alive is a wonderful thing, sir. Being born, even more so. You may think your existence is a small thing comparatively, but that's so wrong, captain. Because just think for a second, what would the world do without you? What would've happened to humanity?"
"There would've been someone else to replace me." He replied nonchalantly, not even bothering to look at you.
"No, captain." You say softly. "Everyone has a reason. No one comes here without one. Being born.. that's a gift. That's a chance to live, love and laugh. And birthday's are a way to remind that to yourself when life becomes unkind. That many years ago, your mother held you in this very same day for the first time." You paused when you saw his shoulders tense, considering if you should say the next words. You hesitated. Would it be okay for you? Would that be crossing a line? Then after several seconds of silence, you parted your mouth, the next words soft but firm. "And I don't know how I know, captain." You sigh. "But believe me, and I assure you, you were the best thing that happened to her."
Somewhere in the room a clock ticked away, your heartbeat beating along with it. And with every second of silence, it got harder to breathe.
Have you crossed the line?
"..you've put a lot of thought into this." He finally responded. The same bored, monotonous tone, not a single hint that your words had affected him in any way.
You exhale in relief. "Not really." You said, shaking your head. "It's my little brothers birthday today. A reminder that he existed once."
Levi shifted this time, just the barest turn of his head towards you.
"...I'm sorry to hear that."
"Don't be. I'm not." You tell him, waving him away. "Perhaps it's better this way, the world wouldn't have been any kinder to him had he survived."
You stared at your feet. It had been years since you've watched your family die in Shiganshina. The pain was less now, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt. You swallowed.
"...so," Levi asked suddenly. "When's your birthday?"
You were surprised, completely caught off guard by the sudden question. He's the last person you thought would ask such a question. "Mine?" You thought. Then smiled. "I don't know." A nervous laugh.
"...you're joking." He turned to fully look at you this time, eyes narrowed.
"Yeah no." You say sheepishly. "I just randomly selected a date when I had to fill out the papers. I have no idea what my actual birthday is. I don't even know my age."
"How do you not know?" He says in disbelief. He didn't expect to hear this.
You shrugged, flexing your arms absent mindedly. "My mom wasn't ever really sober for me to ask such casual things. And I was too busy trying to keep us alive to care."
Levi observed you quietly. There was a strange sort of shadow in your eyes. Not quite sadness..it was more melancholic really.
"So all that shit, and you don't even know it yourself?"
"That's fine, captain. It's everyday I wake up and am grateful because I was born." You leaned back from the window, turning to look at him, your eyes gleamed in the sunlight.
"...I will honestly never understand where you get that energy from." Levi shakes his head, almost mortified hearing your answer. He never understood how someone could be this unbelievably hopeful.
I grin. "Look outside, captain. It's a beautiful day to be alive. Live it."
-
Levi hadn't thought much of the conversation. He had almost forgotten it. Until it was the 25th of December and he found a package of his favorite tea placed on his desk.
A note was scribbled on a post-it on top of it.
'Thank you for existing. I hope you smile a little today, captain.'
He did. Just a little.
He stood stiffly, staring at it, eyes going over the short lines and the small words over and over, memorizing every little curve. He almost snorted when he saw the little balloon you drew in a corner.
Maybe life wasn't so bad after all.
Perhaps the world was indeed, as beautiful as you had said.
How could it be not when you existed in the same world, right beside him?

requests are open !
Tumblr media
The ride is bumpy.
König’s sniper hood scratches the tip of his nose as the van moves along gravel, the vehicle shaking, the engine revving. The sweat-caked fabric scrapes against his lips, a familiar feeling, one that he’s gotten used to over the years here with Kortac. He leans on the wall of the vehicle, eyes scanning over his squad.
The mission had sent them to the middle of South East Asia, the humidity sticking uncomfortably to König’s skin. He hears the quiet murmurs of the squad, silently complaining about the heat. His eyes land on you, seated across from him. You have your hearing aids turned off, your eyes closed as you simply wait till the van stops or gets attacked.
Your colonel knows you like to take moments to yourself, to let the noise muffle out. Well, you’d told everyone on your first day, when you’d just been shifted from another base due to your battle-earned hearing loss.
Your first day, when you first met König.
===
König remembers it well.
He remembers his superiors introducing you to the team, taking an extra moment to specially mention that you were hard of hearing. It surprised him, though he didn’t let it show (he couldn't anyway). Usually, they’d let soldiers go if they lost something on the field, a limb, a sense. But he figured that maybe they had a reason to keep you around, and that intrigued him.
“Sometimes I take them off, at night or during down time,” you said, pointing to your hearing aids as the Kortac squad stared you down, whether it be to size you up or… other actions with other motives. You had clocked König in the crowd from a mile away, his head sticking up among the others like a tower in a field. He had a tilt in his head, which he held unnecessarily high. You could almost hear the whirring behind his eyes, the churning cogs in his brain, trying to figure you out.
“And so, if anyone would like to partner up with your new teammate here, it would be greatly appreciated,” your superior had said, and you almost sighed. Someone had to keep an eye out for you, in case there was a drill, or an alarm you couldn’t hear. It bothered you that you needed to be followed around, that you’d likely be assigned a caretaker, or god forbid, a roommate. You need privacy, everyone in this base needed privacy, and having to share that space with someone felt akin to an intrusion.
But of course, the military couldn’t take any chances.
When no one answered, König couldn’t say he was surprised. Nobody would want to follow someone around all day on the off chance that there was a danger to the base, and he figured that you wouldn’t want that either, especially not with total strangers.
“Alright, then I guess we’ll have to–”
“I’ll do it.”
Heads whipped back to König, who only looked at his teammates once before looking back at you. He didn’t know why he said it. Maybe he pitied you, like you were the kid that got picked last during a game, or maybe he just related to the silence that you were met with, all too familiar.
“Well, that’s settled then.”
===
The van came to a stop at the edge off the main gravel road, the hood of the vehicle poking into the forest. You turn your hearing aids back on, the soft hum of the world flooding back into your senses. The team filed out of the back of the van, dirt and rock crunching under your boots. König checked his rifle for the nth time, before looking over to you. You met his gaze, an unspoken understanding for you to stay close by him filtering between the two of you.
The squad started north not long after, towards the enemy base. König, as colonel, leads the team. His head is on a swivel, looking out for any stray enemy soldiers, or landmines and traps on the forest floor. He spares a half a second to glance at you, your rifle held tight in your hands, expression focused, almost unreadable. It’s the expression you wore whenever you were training with the team, the expression that engraved itself into König’s retinas during your first few days with them, with him.
===
To your luck, they still let you have your own quarters, but also to your luck, you had to spend every other moment out of your room with König. Protocol, you had heard him say, accent deep set into his voice. You hadn’t expected it, to be honest, for a man his stature and size to have that voice. By no means did you not like it, in fact, there was something mesmerising about it whenever he was out on the battlefield. Crazed, you would describe it, crackling, like radio static.
König never did hear your voice often, one of the many silent types in the team, him included. He’d figured he’d leave it alone, but it was rare to find someone that spoke less than he did. He found himself observing you most of the time, which he had a lot of with you.
He noticed that you spoke more with your actions than anything.
When you were tired, you’d stretch the muscles in your neck, sucking a breath in as it emits a satisfying pop.
When you were frustrated, you’d clench your jaw, or you’d press your tongue into your cheek. If it was the other teammates bothering you, especially with their volume, you’d turn off your hearing aids, which has made König chuckle on more than one occasion. You’d never hear it though, but you could see the creasing of his eyes, and you couldn’t help the smile that tugged at the corner of your lips.
===
The base is fairly barren, though most of the people who are there are heavily armed by the looks of it. That means it’s easy for your team to pick them off without getting seen, but it means a longer process and a more distance between the team. König can’t help but worry when you weren’t near, your presence having been a constant in his life for months now. At base or at battle, you would be at his side. So, when he sees you more than ten feet away from him, he breathes in a little deeper.
All it takes is one mess up, one wrong move, and suddenly the base’s sirens go off, the enemy soldiers yelling and firing. On one hand, König’s annoyed, because he’s going to have to find out who messed up and come up with a way to set them straight, but he can’t deny the adrenaline that pumps through his veins as he guns down enemies like target practice. The colonel watches their bodies drop with a twisted sort of satisfaction, the chaos of the moment fueling his hands as he slams an enemy into the brick wall of the building, a sickening crack and choked wail emitting from the now limp body.
König is a soldier, has been for a long time, and this is his element, his work, his life.
The static from his radio brings him out of the moment, and he ducks behind a wall for cover as he brings the device closer to his face.
“König?”
Your voice rings in his ears, and it would’ve bloomed a warmth in his chest if it wasn’t for its shakiness, the uncertainty in your tone. He doesn’t even get time to answer before you speak again.
“They…they’re broken, König. My hearing aids,” you say over the radio, ragged breaths and stutters punctuating your words. His eyes widen, but he doesn’t answer, knowing you can’t hear it anyway. He could hardly stomach the fear in your voice. You’re never scared, at least you’ve never shown it like this. But not being able to hear on the battlefield, not knowing if someone is behind you, or if a grenade had landed nearby; it scared König more than it did you.
“Nor–northern building, second floor.”
It’s all the information König needs for him to start running, sprinting to you.
===
It took a while for König to open up to you, four months, if anyone was counting. But König didn’t have anyone to really compare your time to, because you were the first one to ever try.
It was late in the night, König remembers. He forgot why he was even up, likely due to a nightmare, or simply the inability to even fall asleep, but he found himself in the common room, sat on the couch with a cup of tea in hand, the type that was supposed to help with sleep. He took a sip, sniper hood draped over his lap, his face exposed. The tea was warm, soothing, and König sighs through his nose as the liquid down his throat.
Training had been rather rough that day, with most of the soldiers already fast asleep by the time it hit midnight (a rarity). So, König hadn’t expected anyone to walk in, until you did, half asleep, feet dragging across the floors. You hadn’t noticed him, and he watched you open the shared fridge, pulling out the milk carton.
König hadn’t even considered the fact that his hood was off, and made no move to put it on either. He simply watched as you poured yourself half a glass, drinking it till it was gone. Your hearing aids weren’t in, he noticed, just as he noticed everything else. The scrapes on your elbow from training, the mess your hair was in, the dark circles under your half-lidded eyes… you looking right at him.
You tilted your head, empty glass in hand, the other holding the milk carton. At first glance, you had no idea who he was. Perhaps it was the sleep eating away at your brain, or the fact that he was sat in the dark, none of the lights on in the common room. But the electric blue of his eyes was familiar, and you knew.
The first thing out your lips was a hurried apology, looking away in favour of returning the carton into the fridge, placing the empty glass in the sink. You knew König never took that mask off for anyone, so to see the face under it felt like a violation of sorts on your part.
“It’s fine,” König had said, only to realise that his words couldn’t reach you, words that he was surprised he said himself. ‘It’s fine’? Was it actually fine?
Was König actually fine that you saw his face?
That your brows raised ever so slightly, surprised.
That you took a second to scan his features, despite the darkness of the room.
That your apology was so quick and so soft, that he swore his heart stopped for just a moment.
As you washed the cup in the kitchen sink, a hand finds itself on your shoulder, and you turned to face König, who was still unmasked.
To the untrained eye, he would’ve looked absolutely terrifying. Scars slashed across his features, his expression set and serious, but you saw the hesitation in his eyes, which were somehow the most expressive part of his face, yet the one feature he didn't hide.
König stood back a little, preserving your respective personal spaces as he drew his hand back to his side. You saw his lips part for a moment, as if to say something. You looked up at him, had to, because he towered over you, but you saw the indecision in his body language, and you gave him a nod.
“I can read lips,” you reassured. König heard you loud and clear, and his eyes look back into yours as he swallowed, adam’s apple moving along his neck. He thought for a moment, about what he wanted to say to you. A hard decision, considering the fact that he wanted to say everything in that moment, but he had a tendency to swirl into German if he got too carried away. So, he kept it simple.
“I don’t mind,” he said, aloud. He didn’t want to go out of his way to mouth the words to you, it felt rather condescending. But you got the message anyway, shown by the upwards curve of your lips, the single breath that you let out through your nose.
König breathed in. It was shaky, and filled his lungs to the brim. It felt like how he’d feel post-battle. The feeling of sinking emotions, of deep breathing and a mouth running dry. The feeling of pupils dilated, of his hands flexing and clenching at his side because god did he touch your shoulder just now? He didn't mean to do that.
“Are you sure?” you asked, cocking your head to the side with that slight grin, almost like you were anticipating, excited by the prospect of him wanting to share this part of him with you, one that he keeps so heavily guarded at all times. The thought made your chest ache.
Your colonel nodded, wetting his lips.
“I trust you.”
===
König runs incredibly fast for a bulky 6’10 man with tactical gear on and a rifle in his hands.
Fuck stealth, fuck sneaking and scouting around corners because every second he's not running is a second that you're alone and in danger. If any enemies are in his way, he simply shoots, not caring to make sure that they’re dead, he just needs them out of his fucking way.
He kicks in the door to the northern building, the sound reverberating through the building that he’s sure that you can feel. The colonel steps over the limp body of an enemy soldier, the puddle of red pooling under their lifeless corpse, soaking their camo maroon. His throat tightens when he sees your hearing aids sitting in that pool of red, or what’s left of it. Blood seeps into the shattered plastic, finding its way into the cracks, into the torn wiring of the device.
Making his way up the second floor, König catches a glimpse of the barrel of your rifle sticking out from behind a wall. Reckless on your part, but he could hardly blame you. He steps towards the corner, unsure of how to approach without startling you. The last thing he wants is for you to shoot him when he’s already so close to you; just behind a brick wall.
===
König found out why the military kept you around.
The first ever mission you go on together was his favourite. Before that, he’d heard the other Kortac officers talk about you, about how you'd snipe down enemies like candles on a cake, how you could scan a room in a single swipe of the eyes, how you’d saved their asses from more traps than they knew possible to put in one room.
He’d believed them, of course, because he never wanted to assume anything more than the best from you. But seeing was believing, and god, he was never more certain of anything in his life.
It was like coming face to face with an angel from a religion he didn’t know existed. He watched your steady hands, the rise and fall of your chest that held whenever you fired. You hardly missed, but when you did you’d pay it back by taking two more enemies out. König almost missed the grenade that landed by his feet, to which you kicked away before he could even react.
The two of you had to get shrapnel removed from your legs that day, but König smiles whenever he sees those scars, a reminder of you and your magnetic monstrosity.
===
He was right, you do try to shoot him.
König is lucky that your reflexes are just as good when retracting your rifle. He stares down at you, hands splayed and raised at his sides, firearm hitting the hard concrete floor with a cloud of dust. You’ve backed yourself into a corner where you had the best vantage point, where no one could see you through any windows or balconies. There’s a dull ache in his chest when he sees you like this, reduced to frantic breaths and wide eyes.
“König,” you say, his callsign slicing through your breathlessness as you lower your weapon. The relief sends chills down your spine, stirring together with the adrenaline in your blood; a boiling broth of feelings. You had half-expected that König didn’t hear your radio distress call, that someone had gotten to him before you’d gotten through. It was an imaginable thought, that someone would be able to take down this hulking boulder of a man, but you thought the impossible.
You watch him lower his hands, reaching them out towards you instead. You push yourself from the corner, your back killing you as you grab onto his wrists. His hands clench around nothing, the muscles in his wrists flexing under your grip.
“König, I can’t… can’t hear you. I-I can’t–”
Without a second thought, König slips his arm from your hands and lifts his hood over his helmet.
“You’re safe,” he says aloud, making sure you have your eyes on him. Eye-black mixes with his sweat, a trail of ink running down his pale skin. He’d lowered himself to your eye-level, definitely straining his back. He holds onto your bicep, giving it a squeeze. The pressure is comforting, grounding you to reality, to König’s presence.
You nod, movements stuttered. König smiles, and so does his piercing blue eyes.
“You’re safe with me.”

Night Gallery
Various Yanderes (F, M, G.N) X G.N Nightguard Reader
A concept story for a haunted art gallery that branched past what I originally wanted. Feedback is appreciated.
An art collector with a taste for the abnormal opened an art gallery comprised of the world's most bizarre works of art fifty years ago; just a week before his death. The gallery remained open and in the care of his family due to a sudden boost in popularity the following month.
Prior to when you applied for the job, the gallery had never needed a Nightguard in its entire lifespan; but a recent string of break ins lead to the new owners change of heart. It was for their safety, rather that those who residing with the galleries walls. As most have grown accustomed to their new lives, they will do anything to protect them; finding solace in the one paid to do the same.
-
You begin your shift in the garden. On top of your guard duties, you also tend to the plants after one too many gardeners quit over being bitten during the day. The roses nipped and hissed at you when you first started working here, but now they purr at your feet or wrap around your ankles so that you couldn't move; allowing you to shower them in a nutritious bath. Greedy little things, but with good reason.
"Ahh... Thank you, my dear."
Behind the patch where the flowers grew, there was an elevated stand on which the statue of a rose bud stood. With enough water, the stone flower would blossom. A wriggling mass of stems gather in its center, forming the upper torso of a human made of thorns and roots. Its face splits open, a living, red rose blooming from the crevasse. Its singular eye stares down at you; body craning over its podium to get the best look it can.
"It's so nice to see your face again, Y/n. Makes up for the lack of sunlight those awful artificial lights try to replicate."
You smile. Rosebud was one of the easier inhabitants of the gallery to deal with; mainly due to the fact they couldn't move on their own. They were mostly gentle in nature, and normally just chatted the ear odd of you - the only human both it and its roses tolerated.
"Your petals are as healthy as always, Bud." You reply, pouring the remaining water in the can on a rose that nuzzled your foot. "You still get sunlight while you're asleep."
"Yes, yes, I know, but I'm far more beautiful in the sun. You should have seen me when the park was closed for a week. I was a masterpiece! But enough about me for now at least. Since you can here so early, you probably have to visit the others now.
You glance at the clock; confirming their theory. The roses shoot up your legs at the comment; thorns crawling at the ends of your pants.
"Sorry, boss asked me to come here first."
"Well ignore the man next time. I do not mind waiting, if it's to spend time with you. Let's welcome a new dawn together, Rosetta."
You shake the last flower off your leg. "Will do, Rosebud."
"Thank you. Please take one of the little ones with you before you head away, they miss you so much when you're gone."
Rosebud plucks one of the roses, and hands it off to you; careful not to prick you with their thorns as your hands meet. The rose's petal lips kiss up your hand andover your cheek before you're able to put it in the water can for safe keeping.
"I need to get going. See you later, Rosebud."
-
You reenter the gallery through the main gate. More of its residents seem to be awake, but no one left their habitat yet. A mermaid splashes you with water to get your attention; blowing a kiss as they beckon you to their painting. A star shoots across a night sky in the stained ceiling of the central hallway. Despite the many dangers, your job definitely was one
"Heyy. Hey, Y/n come 'mere. I have found something~"
A shadowy hand waves you over to a painting frame; your uniform hat tossed back and forth between the silhouette's many hands. The room behind it was filled with junk; most stolen from the lost and found box a few feet away. The plaque beneath it read: "Finders Keepers."
Enticed by your missing cap, you walk over; knowing it wouldn’t be easy to get it back. "What do you want now?"
The scavenger giggles. "I want to make a trade. Y/n found something, and I found Y/n's hat."
"Is snatching my hat when I wasn't looking really finding it?"
"No, but I found Y/n so I found it."
The scavenger was one of, if not the most active paintings. It would search around for things people lost to take back to its frame, and on occasion chased you around to do the same. It leaves the prettier items of its collect out for you either as a lure, or present for you. You even found a watch stuffed in your locker once. Thank God the gallery didn't have working cameras.
The only way to get the scavenger to go back on its own other than going yourself to give it something you owned. It claimed your items were the highlight of its collect. Even candy wrappers were enough to please it. With nothing else on hand the last time it hunted you, you had to give up the hat off the top of your head. The only problem was that your boss was upset over you losing it.
"Give me that pail."
Your face scrunches in confusion. "Why do you want this?"
"Y/n held it, so it's something that's theirs. Therefore I want it. You want your hat back, right?"
"..Fine, but if I get in trouble for losing it, I want the wallet you stole last week."
"Deal."
You hand it the watering can, remaining at arm's distance as you snatch your hat back. The scavenger giggles in glee at its new treasure, and you take it as your cue to leave. As soon as you leave, it pulls the rose out of the pail; its many hands crushing the flower into a bloody pulp.
"I found them first, pest."
-
Continuing your night leads you to the second floor. Your job didn't require you to inspect them all, but you had to remain active - for more reasons that one. This is the moment when you really had to be on your toes. The higher the floor, the more dangers its residents were. Since most knew you weren't there to cause trouble you were safe from harm, but with that came their obsessions with you and wanting you to join their world. The shift was almost over, so you should be fine.
"Y/n? Is that you?"
Shit.
Down the end of the hall, a woman turns in your direction. Blood stains the collar of her long, once white dress; the fabric now an off colored pink. She smiles beneath her veil - the woman in red.
"Hello, my love."
Her official title is "The woman in white.". A classical oil painting of a young woman in front of a cottage sitting in a bench swing tied to the tree outside; her beautiful laced dress blowing in the wind as she swong forward. At least, that's what it look like in the beginning.
Over time, she grew closer to the ground; sitting stationary in the bench in today's time. Her clothes as white as a dove's wing became stained; another splatter added with each missing person's report that came in.
"Welcome home. Just give me a moment, and I'll be with you." She turns back to the painting in front of her, a scream ringing through the hall as she slashes it with her palette knife. Not all of her victims were human.
There were many more changes to her than just her attire. What once was a dolce painting who only caused the occasional disappearance now was one with a vicious strike against any who tried to interfere with her objective.
You were already gone the second she took her eyes off you, booking it around the corner and off to any place you could hide. You dive for the receptionist's desk and squeeze beneath it just as you hear her heels stomping away in the opposite direction. She was after you right after you ran away, but unfortunately was one of the slower one and lost you as soon as you were out of sight.
"Careless again, were we Y/n?"
You look up at the man leaning over the desk, smiling back at you with a perfect row of pearly whites. You hear the tap of his foot against the tiles as you both watch each other.
"She'll come back soon you know.."
You nod. He unclips the pocket watch from his belt.
"Two others are active tonight as well.. I'd say about three hours is fair for this round. That should give you enough time if you hurry."
You nod again, slower; unsure of your safety of you didn't take his help.
The Director grins. "Shall we head to the fifth floor?"
-
He leads you up to the fifth, and final floor; and exhibit that had yet to be unveiled. Stepping over the velvet gate, you walk through the darkness with only a faint light in the distance. You take a sit at the table at the end of the room; him taking the opposite. There's a pot of tea brewed between you two. He was waiting for you. As he always did.
"Let us have another wonderful time together, Y/n. And if you aren't so lucky in the morning, a blissful eternity."
There was only one rule your boss gave you when you first applied. Always leave the gallery before the second hour of dawn. You didn't need to him tell you why that rule was in place.
It's currently 3am.

It’s 3:46 a.m., and I am still wide awake. I slowly lift my head from my pillow. I could see that it was still dark outside. A little light was starting to seep through the curtains, indicating that the night was about to end. Thank god.
I didn’t even realize how much time had passed since I'd been lying here. I stare at the clock again, trying to make sense of what has happened. The events kept replaying over and over in my head, trying to figure out where it went wrong.
It was just like any other case. Jay and I were on a stakeout, waiting for our suspect, who was believed to be involved in a string of armed robberies. We spotted him near a convenience store with a backpack and something under his jacket, and he was headed straight for the store. We knew we couldn’t wait for backup, so we radioed in for some help and went after him. When we entered the store, the robber had already been waving his gun around. Jay and I immediately sprang into action. I started clearing out the rest of the store, helping the remaining customers to the back, while he engaged the suspect. When I turned my attention back to the robber, my heart went cold. He was pointing his gun at Jay.
Jay, meanwhile, had drawn his gun out and was shouting at the robber to drop his weapon, trying to deescalate the situation, but the robber didn't listen and, in fear of getting arrested, fired a shot at Jay. My heart raced as I watched the bullet hit him.
Everything happened so fast after that. It's all been a blur. Jay, stumbling backwards, lying on the floor..... Me, tackling the robber, and then trying to help Jay…. The screaming customers... Patrol arriving…
Later on, when the adrenalin faded, I realized what a close call it had been. He was lucky that the vest caught the bullet. If it had hit him even an inch lower, he would've bled out on the floor—he could have died.
And as I was lying here beside him, the realization hit me again hard, and I felt a chill run down my spine. I almost lost him today, and I didn't want to believe it. I just can’t imagine my life without him. Not seeing his beautiful eyes looking up at me, his infectious smile, not hearing his voice, or not feeling his warm touch on my body ever again. The idea of losing Jay was too much to bear; it made my heart ache. From that moment on, I just couldn’t close my eyes, afraid that when I opened them again, he wouldn’t be there next to me.
The thought terrified me and seeped through every bone in my body. I realized I was shaking, and it wasn’t from the cold. I looked up at his face, my eyes drinking in his every feature, trying to calm myself down.
He was fast asleep, his bare chest rising calmly with every breath. I could see the purple bruise from where the bullet had hit his vest; the blanket couldn’t cover it up completely. I reached out to touch it gently, but I stopped myself.
I shouldn’t disturb him; he needed his rest after the day he had, but then I knew I needed him more. I know it sounds selfish, but in this moment, I didn’t care. I needed to touch him. I know that without it, I would fall apart. I needed to make sure that he still existed.
So I carefully shifted to his side and put my head on his chest. With my arm around his waist, I pulled him as close to myself as I could and nuzzled further into his neck.
He slowly started to stir, and on instinct, he pulled me into his embrace.
Lying there and listening to his beating heart, I just couldn’t hold back my tears any longer. What if he had died? How would I survive without him?
He probably heard me sniffing in his ear, because the next thing I noticed, he started slowly caressing my arm.
"Hey, babe, is everything okay?" He asked, his voice raspy from sleep. I couldn’t find my voice, so I just shook my head.
"What’s wrong?" He reached for the lamp, and in a moment, our bedroom was filled with light. I still couldn’t speak, so I looked up at him, and I saw his face filled with worry.
I probably don’t look so good right now; my eyes are red and puffy from the lack of sleep and crying, so I can only imagine how much I scared him with that.
"You okay? Are you in pain? Please talk to me. You’re killing me over here." – I heard the desperation in his voice, so I had to pull myself together, at least long enough to give him an answer.
"Jay, I’m so sorry; I should have had your back,"  I whispered, my eyes filling with tears again.
"Hey, hey, hey... "What are you talking about?" his eyes pleading.
"This afternoon, when he shot you... It shouldn’t have happened." My voice trembled.
Realization struck him. "No, listen to me; hey, look at me," he says, and he cups my face. – "It is not your fault; it’s not on you; do you hear me? You did everything right today. You cleared the store, you helped the customers, and you took down the suspect. You couldn't have done anything more."
"I still feel like I should have done more to protect you. You could have been seriously hurt." If you died… I can’t lose you, Jay; I just can’t." – I violently shook my head.
Jay's eyes softened as he looked at me, his hand still cupping my face. "I know how you feel," he said gently. "And I can't imagine what I would do if something happened to you either."
"But you have to remember," he continued, "that we're in this together, and we look out for each other. And today, you did everything right. You were amazing out there."
Jay leaned in, planting a soft kiss on my forehead. "And I'm always here for you, no matter what. I'm not going anywhere."
I let out a deep sigh, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Thank you," I said softly, turning to face Jay. "For being there for me."
Jay smiled, wrapping his arms around me. "That's what partners do," he said.
I leaned into him, and I closed my eyes, letting myself sink into his embrace and feeling the tension and worry of the day slowly melt away. I was thankful for Jay’s presence, his touch, and his words of comfort.
"I don't know what I'd do without you," I confess to him, my voice barely recognizable.
Jay looked at me, his eyes filled with warmth and affection. "You'll never have to find out," he said firmly.
"I love you," I whispered, feeling the words tumble out of my mouth before I could even think. "With everything I have".
Jay smiled, pulling me even closer to him. "I love you too," he said softly. "And I always will."
He slowly laid back down on the bed, pulling me along with him.
"Now, try to get some sleep, alright"? I nodded, and he switched off the light.
As the darkness began to take over, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and support I have in my life. And as Jay's steady breathing filled the room again, I knew that he was right—he wasn't going anywhere. We were in this for the long haul, and together, we can face anything.
