Random's Lore Drops - Canon Fall but in past tense Sans

Y'know, It'd be funny if I made a post about an Undertale AU character that I originally believed in the fanon version (mainly just the being edgy version). So, uh...

This is the Canon Underfell design, by Fella.

(Before we get started, here's canonfell brother relationship so i can cut away some of the lore that's already explained right here.)

I'll be going from the oldest post I can find from Fella, to the newest lore post I can find. Numero uno consists of...

Canon Fell Sans' sneakers. More specifically, why the hell does he wear them instead of slippers? Just design choice? Or maybe it's because he's not allowed to? Nah. According to Fella themselves, "he likes the squeaky sound it makes because everyone hates it". So basically, he likes to squeak the shoes on the floor like he's on a basketball court.

Second post, why the hell does mf sweat so damn much? Well, first reason, he starts to sweat when he's angry. Second reason, because of the Sick Ass Jacket™️ that he got from making Grillby laugh. I mean, have you seen how thick it is? I'd be sweating too.

Random post I had to find, how did Sans get his jacket? Well, it's obvious of course, I said it before. He made Grillby laugh (unintentionally), and when you make Grillby laugh in Underfell, he gives you a smaller version of his coat. Now Sans is kitted with Sick Ass Jacket™️ and was forced to dress better, wearing said Sick Ass Jacket™️, a turtleneck, a gold chain (that's usually under said turtleneck), basketball shorts, and squeaky squeaky.

Third (lore relevant) post, the brothers dynamic. They DON'T hate eachother. On the fucking contrary. They both care for eachother, and don't really express it all too well. Brother relationship post HERE.

Fourth post, he's got 5 rings. 5 sick ass (not trademarked) rings, and the reason he can wear them is because he uses his magic so they don't fall off. From Fella themselves, the reason he has them on is because "the guy wants to flex so hard he’s constantly using his powers to keep them there. He doesn’t even think about it, he has so much power to spare he might as well “live” a little." So yeah, he uses his magic to keep wearing his rings cause he can.

Fifth post? Sans canonically CAN ball (so can Frisk, but Frisk is scarier)

Sixth, he's capable of opening his mouth. But it's usually when he's in battle, otherwise it won't ever open, because he's never under enough stress to have enough power for such.

Seventh, mf's eye is always glowing, no matter what. Mainly because he's had so much stress and emotional trauma, his magic is piled up, so his magic sorta does some wacky shit, like make his coat look cool.

Eighth, an almighty lore post by Fella, explaining how Sans awoke his powers and also how Papyrus got scar. Long story short, Gaster went missing, Sans was to take the blame, his punishment was Asgore crushing his skull, Paps retaliated, got hired and had his skull scratched through for a scar, and Sans got pissed off and woke his magic.

Ninth (nineth? idfk) semi-unrelated one is that Sans is the ONLY character not directly affiliated with Asgore who wears red and gold.

The rest I find from a canonfell wiki. Such as, he likes mustard and relish more than ketchup, and prefers knock-knock jokes to puns. Supposedly one of his more favorite drinks is a green martini, either appletini or honey dew martini, with larger quantities being a margarita

oh shit there's an official ask about sans hates women underfell (or technically a nod to it), which then displays that "i sans underfell love woimen", by the very words of sans underfell himself. REAL!

Oh yeah, he canonically sells chimichangas instead of hotdogs. His provider is not the store, but instead Papyrus. And according to this wiki, he gave Papyrus a hang-in-there cat poster as a joke, and Papyrus hung it up on the wall.

alright, friends, it's time for a lil heart-to-heart.

for quite a while now, i've struggled with feeling like the rpc is an actual community. there's a few things that contribute to this feeling, but it mostly comes down to a lack of interaction and visible interest. sometimes i feel very one-sided in my interest and attachment to my mutuals bc when i see their ooc posts or headcanons, i like them or comment, yet this isn't reciprocated by everyone. i can usually guess who i'm about to see in my notifications, and to be absolutely clear, i'm very grateful for those people!! it's a handful or two of you, but it could be just one and i'd be grateful. it's not about numbers whatsoever but rather growing uncomfortable that not all of my mutuals are all that interested in my character or me.

i write on here to share the excitement of creating with other people. i write on here to create together, too, but i'm also here to share characters and ideas and lore with people i know are happy to hear me ramble. i'm just getting to the point in which i'm questioning how many of you are actually happy to listen, and that's just not a good feeling at all. i'm not a mind reader, y'all. if you don't tell or show me that you care about the things i talk about or even about interacting, there's no way for me to know. eventually, i'm going to question why you're following me if i never see or hear from you, and eventually, i'm going to softblock and move on. that's the only way forward i see right now because i just do not feel comfortable on my own blog. i feel like i'm retreating into this quiet bubble to avoid discomfort, and it really sucks. it's killing my muse.

i'm not perfect. none of us are, and we can't be online at all times to catch every little post. but if we're a community, then we should be supporting each other when we can and liking headcanons, liking/commenting on those lil ooc posts that remind us our writing partners are humans with lives outside this site, reblogging their promo posts, sending in that meme they've reblogged even if we're nervous to reach out first -- if we're a roleplaying community, then we need to act like it. " community " implies connection, and a connection doesn't really begin when you follow each other. it begins when you reach out, even if it's in some small way.

tldr: i think we can all do better to support our mutuals and to connect, and i'm going to softblock people rather than continue to feel unsure where i stand with my mutuals. i won't start until sometime next week, and i won't make one of those " like this to remain mutuals " posts. they're not helpful to me, if i'm honest. if you're worried, just reach out. i'm literally a 4'9'' gremlin who sleeps with a m.unchlax plushie -- i promise i'm not scary despite this post uvu

Welcome to I-just-realized-that-I-only-posted-4-times-in-the-whole-of-last-year. I was largely uncreative throughout 2023 and 2024, unfortunately, but I think I've finally compiled enough stuff for a short queue as a sort of apology to you guys. A lot of the art is over six months old, some of it from more than a year ago, which means I get to dust off my backlog tag again.

A majority of the queue is going to be stuff from my own original works, which I am aware is not the reason most of you guys follow my blog, but alas, the artist must be a slave to the muse. Last month I picked up writing again more than 5 years after setting aside my main writing project, so there's been a lot of character design and other worldbuilding taking up most of my free time lately. Which is exciting for me, but I know it's nothing compared to Tolkien's legendarium and I apologize for that. Unfortunately I haven't worked on much Tolkien stuff for quite a while, which is going to make this a very unusual and jumbled series of posts with artwork from all across the board. Some of it is going to be unfinished in a big way: stuff I meant to share here when it was done but never got around to finishing.

Notes on Recognition: Xiao Jingyan and Mei Changsu

This is a collection of thoughts that developed while I was making the ‘recognition’ video (x), and in which I reflect on Jingyan's unique position regarding knowing Mei Changsu's identity.

Jingyan is, of course, The Last To Know, and, in the scene with his mother, he speaks of how he was so close to recognizing his friend, and that he faults himself, that should have known. If we go back, however, and look at the circumstances under which the others find out, a few things start to emerge.

First off, the people who don't already know and find out, find out quite early on. Meng Zhi doesn't really count because he'd been contacted previously, but Nihuang finds out relatively soon after they meet, and Consort Jing also finds out fairly early once she has something to go on—and it's having something to go on that's the key thing.

Both Nihuang and Consort Jing are possessed of outside information—that is, external clues not originating from Mei Changsu's observed behavior—that lead them to draw their conclusions. In Consort Jing's case, she has the character missing strokes in the book, and in Nihuang's case, she has Wei Zheng (and since I'm sticking to the show here, I'll only briefly mention the original presence of Nie Duo, which made her even more keen to investigate in the novel) whose appearance, as with Consort Jing and the book, gives Nihuang hard evidence to work with, and with which to confront Mei Changsu, which she then does. Apart from these clues, Consort Jing has her medical knowledge to draw on, while Nihuang has the show version of the meeting with Tainainai, but while that scene does involve Mei Changsu's observed behavior, it does not arise unprompted, and is instead a reaction to Tainainai's actions.

So, to return to Jingyan, what does he have to go on? He doesn't have those outside clues—there is no known Jiangzuo assistance with a familiar face, or the right information to tell him what exactly is so revealing about the book he's borrowed. And, crucially, each time he encounters new information, Mei Changsu is there (with backup) to bat it down. What Jingyan is reacting to, then, and reacting to so strongly, is almost purely based on Mei Changsu's unprompted observed behavior, most notably the sleeve rubbing, the discussion of the grain supply, and the drawing of Jingyan's sword, all of which Mei Changsu does naturally and not in response to external influences. Moreover, the things Jingyan notices are not just instances of general familiarity, but specific things Jingyan recognizes as specific to xiao-Shu. The way he thinks, represented by the rubbing of his sleeve, the way he speaks, represented by the detailing of grain supply logistics, and the way he acts, represented by drawing Jingyan's sword.

The other side of this, of course, is that in these moments, Mei Changsu has neglected to conceal himself fully, which speaks to him, on some level, being comfortable enough in Jingyan's presence that he is simply existing as the person he currently is, which still includes many elements of the past. (And to expand on the concept of being 'comfortable,' I don't necessarily mean 'relaxed' although that's sometimes true, but that, however unconsciously, part of Mei Changsu's response to being in Jingyan's company and to working with him, is a tendency to let down his guard while focusing on the task at hand.)

This leads, then, to unique situations on both sides: on one side, Jingyan, without outside information, consistently recognizing xiao-Shu in Mei Changsu, and, on the other, Mei Changsu consistently becoming uncharacteristically unguarded around the one person who doesn't know and who he insists should not know. This combination (along with, again, the lack of outside information and the immediate unified dismissal of any other clues) leads Jingyan to be in a position where he cannot get the appropriate perspective to see the entire picture, partly because, in many ways, he is too close to it.

This is something I've explored elsewhere, but I think it's always worth revisiting that the other way in which Jingyan is unique is that he gets close to Mei Changsu without knowing he is xiao-Shu (unlike Meng Zhi and Nihuang et al), while also having been close to xiao-Shu (unlike Feiliu and Lin Chen) and this affects his perspective. Unlike those who find out Mei Changsu is Lin Shu in the early days of their acquaintance with Mei Changsu, before they have much of a chance to get to know his current self, Jingyan alone will ultimately have the unique experience of reconciling the memories of the companion of his youth with the man who is now so important to him.

While Nihuang and Consort Jing have the space to consider their outside evidence of Mei Changsu's former identity, Jingyan has the space to get to know Mei Changsu's current identity, even filtered as it is through Su Zhe, and to form a new picture—throughout the narrative we see how carefully Jingyan listens, even when he's seeming not to. It is clear Jingyan is interested in who Mei Changsu is—even before he knows There's Something About That Book—he reads it with a genuine curiosity about Mei Changsu's remarks and retains enough detail of what he's read to bring it up with his mother—he may not know what exactly to think of Mei Changsu, but he is genuinely listening to him, and as a person, not just a strategist.

So, to wrap up this reformatted collection of thoughts, while Jingyan is unique in the lack of information he is given, he is also unique in what exactly he's noticing and responding to. And, on the other side, Mei Changsu, who treats Jingyan uniquely in what he doesn't show him, also treats him uniquely in what he does.

Will there be a third book in Perth Shifters? I loved Braden’s and Aodhen’s stories.

Of all the kind of commercial-facing writing projects I've done, Perth Shifters did the worst, which is a shame, because Perth Shifters was meant to be the big money-spinner, which is why I broke with so many ways I prefer to write (more angst, longer stories, more character studies, etc.) to fit in with more conventional formulas to do so.

I enjoyed the experience very much! And I love the characters! If I ever tackle Hunter's book, it will probably be in serial format and a much longer story. I have learned that actually sticking to what I do best makes more sense in terms of both joy for the thing, and also income.

Perth Shifters was my first foray into hybrid publishing and it taught me an extremely valuable lesson. When I go back into hybrid publishing again, it will be with things I have already made work for me as serials, so whether they perform well as published novels or not just won't matter as much (and will be a bonus, so not as much is resting on its shoulders lol).

But for that reason, I can't justify putting the time aside to write a third Perth Shifters book. Still haven't ruled out revisiting the world one day though!

What if? Tom King’s Wonder Woman fix-it through bringing back Vanessa Kapatelis. She wakes in the Lizzieverse confused about where she is and trying to grapple with all of the changes. Gradually she realizes that something is wrong and in order to assuage her guilt over becoming an enemy of Diana she decides to stop whatever is causing the Amazon’s and general world to act this way.

While dealing with her pre-Silver Swan personality and post personalities clashing, she meets Lizzie Prince. Believing Lizzie to be an ally she tells Lizzie all she’s learned and they “team up.” Lizzie brings up all of her insecurities about not being good enough for Diana, bragging about being the biological daughter!!! And really messing with Nessa’s head. 

The climax comes when when Vanessa finally gets meet Diana again and is turned away. After seeing her mentor she once admired like… this, Vanessa is even more determined to save her. That’s when Lizzie betrays her. 

Lizzie admits that she sees what Diana saw in her but in the end, Vanessa is just a silly little kid who never got over meeting her favorite superhero. I picture Lizzie’s mentality probably being something like those tiktok trad-wives? She doesn’t want to be saved.

In the end there is no final battle that frees the Amazons, its conversation. 

Tom King has been pretty open about just making the Amazons into violent one-dimensional man hating misandrists. So I think it’d be cool if Diana were about to literally kill someone before realizing wait… why the fuck am I doing this? I am a diplomat?? A pacifist??

OR OR OR - ALTERNATIVELY Lizzie frees the other Amazons before finally getting to Diana. I think her dynamic with Nubia would be awesome, and I yearn for Vanessa-Donna interactions.

There would definitely be a lot of different ways the ending could go. Artemis could maybe appear to show differing opinions on handling a threat like this. I ultimately think Lizzie wouldn’t be killed. They would try to rehabilitate her but it would go poorly. She can come back as a supervillain at some point with a grudge against Vanessa. 

I don’t have an exact blueprint for how this could go but I hate Tom King and love Wonder Woman enough that it doesn’t matter.

I mean this with all the love and respect in my heart but you should be writing this in a Google doc and uploading it to Ao3 instead of sending it to me
