I didn't know that a simple ceremony would be this complicated. It's been weeks of this repeating marching and sitting and we are still practicing the same flow of the events—Well mostly, it's the fault of the host because they keep changing their script for the ceremony and pronouncing certain names or whatnot.

    

First of all, it's summer already and the weather is furiously bothering me and this place is a hot mess. Bunch of sweaty people, too much noise, and on top of that we just have this gigantic ceiling fan that barely gives air and it gives me a major flashback to the final destination, making me think that this sharp fan circling above our heads will suddenly fall and slash our heads.

    "Bear"

   "Bear!" I felt my whole head palpitate caused by the scream directed to me while a tug somewhere in my left sleeve. I turned and saw Wanda grinning, her face so close could see her pupils dilated.

    "What the hell—" holding my hand to my chest and the other to stabilize myself from the clutch of hers. "I keep calling you but your head is out in the space again"

    "Well you sure do got my attention now," shaking my head then smiled at her. "What's up, buttercup?" I took her hands and moved her beside me when I saw an instructor doing rounds to the student seating in our area to check if someone was doing any misbehavior.

    She keeps on moving beside me, so I ask her again...and again.

    "Wands, what is it?"

    "Oh right, yeah about what I came here for—do you still remember the student we sent to our neighboring country for the linguistic program"

   I turned to her and gave her a bored look, "Are you high, Wanda?—Not sure,  maybe we know those people we spent like 10 years of our lives and just gone for like 2 months, what do you think?" sarcasm laced in my voice. I still feel hurt that they won't be able to join us for our graduation because even though they just spent like 2 months there, the university that took them made a mandatory inclusion that their official graduation will be with their school and not here in this hellhole. Well, lucky for them they not only avoid experiencing this extreme heat however shitty for me because I really miss them—especially wolfie.

    "Don't get cranky, bear. I know you're still salty for it but what I'm about to say will take all your bad juju away" my eyebrows raise as she keeps smiling at me weirdly. "Uhuh, is it? Do tell?" I told her while moving back my attention to the stage in front of us.

    "Well, I think some dog really missed their home and flew back here" my neck hurt a bit as I looked into her quickly. "What the fuck?! For real?!"

    "Yeah, your wolfie is here, but please pretend that you don't know- it's supposed to be a surprise for you" she took my hands and caressed it.

    "—but I can't help but say it to cheer you up with all the drama you experience being the only one who does your thesis yet your groupmates can graduate with flying colors because they mooch off you like a damn leech and still get full credits included in 2 major courses and have full grades."

    Her voice is now getting loud and full of huff, I move a little closer to her and give her a nudge to keep her voice low because she doesn't need to say it anymore the whole batch in our program already knows what the situation as I can be seen few months ago, solely defending the thesis and on the verge of breakdown when the instructors called my groupmates to talk to them in front of the students that day asking for the reason why I'm the only one who did all the work when they assigned it as groupwork.

    "I still can't believe our instructors didn't allow you to drop them because it's not they are lazy they just don't have brain cells to use."

    "I know, I know—it's really fucked up but it's done, at least I'm still able to keep myself included in the High Honor Awardee"

    "At least?! you, girl, deserve to be seated here with us in Highest Honor Awardee", Tasha, as we call her, she's the girl called Nat from another class who I got close to a few months before wolfie left, she almost shouted after swearing one after another. I put my pointy finger in front of me signaling her to keep her voice down as I hear a brief grunt coming from one of the instructors monitoring walking past me.

    "It's not that I do not deserve to be there but I know I had moments that I wasn't able to perform well because of my fault too, maybe I got distracted, and with all the other stress and I shouldn't have put all the blame to them, okay?" I gave them a small smile to appease them for a bit.

    A loud echo coming from several taps on a microphone done by the host of the ceremony took all of our attention. The rehearsal begins again—and again. I keep singing the songs we are required to do, it's been 17 minutes but I feel I've just done it for an hour already, my throat is getting dry and scratchy added to the heat that even the fan beside our seats cannot even subdue with thousands of students cramp into this average size covered court. I groan and aggressively wave my hand towards me creating a little blow of air.

    Repeated pulls in my hair startled me and I quickly turned around to look for the impertinent creature who tried to mess with me. My hands prepared to hit their annoying ass when I heard a familiar voice, "Getting hot in their, petal?"

    His blue eyes, I often wonder why those blue eyes gave me this different comfort I've never had with someone. I tried my best to scour my brain and think how I managed to befriend him but all I can remember is during one of our group activities when we needed to shoot a video, I was the assigned writer and he was in the creatives, with all the tauntings, bickering, and jabs directed to each other something just blossom there—I think?

"Your mind has been wandering for like a millennium, are you imagining some crude scenes again from your smutty books?", I can feel his breathing closely into my face. I felt my cheeks heat and sneer at him.

"I'm not!"

"You did really enjoy those books I gave you, with all the vivid covers that match the insides of it, even the priest will blush and call for all the saints when they read the content of it

"Well, I didn't know you have a great taste when it comes to those books, especially with all the tension in it. I didn't think of you as someone who enjoys stories pulling the hair of someone they like and then kisses them after", my stomach grumbled before he could even bicker back. I felt my head being patted gently, unsure of what I just felt.

"Hey, Wanda just fix my hair" my lips immediately contorted into a pout. I look sideways to focus my attention on him more when an abrupt loud noise cuts in.

Before I can even register what has been announced I am already being escorted into the exit and side of the covered court.

"Do you have food with you? I'm getting hungry and the line is already long when we get there. Lemme chat with Wanda or Nat, maybe they already found a seat in the cafeteria, or maybe they have gone outside and already bought something" I took m phone out of my pocket and started to construct my message using my notes before sending it to them.

"I still wonder why you do that, you know"

"What do you mean?"

"That, you often write messages into your notes first before sending them", his face is now close to the phone I'm holding as he leans towards me.

"Well, I do— I feel like it's more comfortable to write here first so before sending I can check first if there's something wrong and if there is I wouldn't have accidentally sent it even if my phone suddenly froze up or I just accidentally touch sent because there's no sent button here in notes. Like I can edit it first and construct a proper message and rethink it before sending." my eyes already left my phone while I was explaining it to him and now gazing at the hallway.

"Did you have fun while I was gone?", my attention drifted back to him and I saw him looking directly at my eyes with his blues for the second time.

"Fun you say, I just felt like I got beat up by a thousand men simultaneously with all the stress and pain I felt—", I look into his eyes before continuing "—although Nat introduced me to her friend back from her hometown, he's quite a charmer", we started to take a walk towards the small hut situated outside the library, taking a rest and the breeze coming from the tree soothes the extreme heat, while we were seating I thought of breaking the silence that surrounds us however Bucky beats me first, "Tell me more what happen while I was gone?"

I saw him getting food out of his sling bag with my favorite drink, my attention quickly drew back to the food presented to me before I could even hold my hand out, he waved it first in front of my face before drawing it back. Gaining my attention, he repeated himself, "What is it huh?"

I took a sigh and gave him a quipped smile, "Seriously? I mean Steve might have already told you everything, you've been in contact since you went to another country for an exchange student program, anything you wanna know he might have told you already"

"I mean I'm just curious what can happen as you see it through your eyes, you know Steve, he likes to censor a lot of things, our man can't even swear without blushing," he said while finally handing out the food he has been holding. Silence surrounds us again as I indulge myself with a deluxe treat. "Heyy, don't just eat the food I brought you, I missed your knucklehead you know and you are just acting like I just grown two heads and we don't know each other"

I took a bite before looking at him again, he nudged my arm while I continued to swing my feet as I ate, "Do you miss me, petal? Because I do"

He finally said the words I've been wanting to hear to come out from his mouth, "You really miss me? dude, don't know if you're kidding me right now" I glared at him, maybe he might still realize what have he done before I spilled all of it to him.

"I do, I really miss you, petal. Do you miss your wolfie?" I felt a gentle squeeze in my thighs.

"Let me think—" I put the food on the table in front of me and faced sideways to him, I put my fingers to my temple and acted like I was thinking.

I gave him a sweet smile before answering "I think—No" I said and picked up my food again to start to eat, before I could feel the savory taste of the cheeseburger he bought for me, I felt a cold hand touch my arm stopping me. My movements stalled and I quickly closed my mouth as I scrunched my nose for his insolence to stop me from eating a delicacy. Like who in their right mind would stop a woman and her food. He just went to another country and charmed multiple beautiful women and now he has this audacity, would I allow it—HECK NO.

"Hey! Don't roll your eyes on me" he took my food out of my hand and set it down himself. Now he's just asking for a beating.

"Why do you even want to hear my answer" before he could even answer I muttered in a scratchy voice abruptly "Heck, why are you even asking me that now, you didn't reply to my messages when I was trying to talk to you8 while you were there. You are busy parading yourself out of the country and you talk to our friends except me, so excuse me—you are getting on my nerves. One more interruption while I am eating, I will not think twice to swing my arm to your fucking face, understood?"

"Yes, ma'am" his voice laced with a smirk as I continued to glare at him. A few moments later after I finished eating and now just passing the time by looking at the other students walking back to the covered court. Bucky is now facing my back and his hands are now caressing my hair I can even feel how he twists each strand, braiding it, I think.

He knows how to make me weak, he brought me food and now he is braiding my hair just like before he left me, I will not be able to keep my facade if he continues acting like this. I know to myself that I need to be strong because parting with him is inevitable.

    "I just noticed something, my petal" he broke the silence as he continued to play with my hair, and I hummed asking him to continue. "—where did you hear that I'm parading myself out of the country? like do you— I mean are you jealous?"

    I can feel the chills that just run down my spine, "What do you mean jealous?! Of your knucklehead? Freaking NO" I quickly faced him and for the second time today I can see from his eyes flashes of thoughts running while still unable to comprehend what he was trying to say. Before he could even answer, I heard Wanda's loud voice telling us to go back inside and Sam's yelling to wait for him.

    "Let's continue this conversation later, okay petal?" when he didn't hear my answer he gave my hand a few tugs, "Yeah—okay" I whispered before Wanda whisked me away from him.

hello and welcome to another episode of Shi Has Strong Opinions on Niche Canon with Citable Sources, this time focusing on something that technically isn't canon one way or the other — my preferred fan-transliterated name for Raven's hometown in Tales of Vesperia, which is never referred to by name in any officially translated material.

anyway it's spelled Pharihyde and in this essay I will die on this hill

Context

In case you clicked the read-more with no stake in this game just because you want to see me being pedantic, let me recap the relevant facts of the argument:

Raven's backstory is never fully explained in the base game, but it was elaborated on in official side materials. The same story, titled 虚空の仮面 (Kokuu no Kamen, commonly translated as Empty Mask), was released in multiple formats: light novel[1], manga[2], and drama CD[3]. None of these have ever been officially translated, but fans have made their own attempts at each over the years.

The town in question here does not appear in the original game, due to having been obliterated during the prequel events. It's also never mentioned by name in the drama CD, leaving only two sources for a name: the light novel and the manga.

Officially, it is named ファリハイド (Farihaido).

The first translation the English-speaking fandom ever saw of any Kokuu no Kamen material was when one fan (whose identity was regrettably lost to time) took a stab at summarizing the light novels, not long after they were first published back in 2010. This fan transliterated the town's name as Pharihyde.

Tumblr user dokidokimaster was commissioned to finally translate the manga in 2015. In this translation, the town was spelled Farryheid.

By the time the manga was being translated, the web page that hosted the light novel summary had tragically gone down. Luckily, I was active enough in the fandom at the time to have had the link to the light novel bookmarked, so I was able to find an archive via the blessed Wayback Machine, but I can't fault dokidokimaster for the inconsistencies.

tl;dr of section: OG town name is ファリハイド; LN calls it Pharihyde; manga calls it Farryheid. Rest of essay is about why me preferring the name that came first isn't just me being a cranky fandom elder I swear

It's About The World It's In

In the world of Terca Lumireis, on the continent of Ilyccia, somewhere far from the capital city, Zaphias, there was once a town called... Farryheid? No, Pharihyde. The latter fits better with the precedents set by the official names around it, and I will literally break it down letter by differing letter to prove it!

'Ph' vs 'F'

Among officially transliterated locations and other "made-up" names in Tales of Vesperia, there are 3 that include 'ph' to represent an 'f' sound (Zaphias, Zopheir, Phaeroh). Only a single name uses an actual 'f' for that sound (Ghasfarost), and it also still has an 'h' as the second letter in the word.

Single vs. Double 'R'

After a ctrl+F pass through the entire list of location names in this game[4], not a single one contains the substring 'rr'. Only one R at a time in Terca Lumireis!

Vowel Choice and Lexical Stress

So, English has this neat little feature where some syllables in a word get more emphasis than others! And that plays heavily into this section, because 'i' and 'y' can sound identical when using 'y' as a vowel, but the existing place names stress them differently.

Now, as the Drama CD doesn't give us a spoken example of ファリハイド to work from (and Japanese doesn't do stress the way English does anyway), where the stress goes in either "Pharihyde" or "Farryheid" is technically unconfirmed... But my default reading is with primary stress on the first syllable, and secondary stress on the last (FAR-ee-hide).

In the precedent-setting place names, based on the English dub of the 360 version*, a lone 'i' is seen unstressed in at least 16 distinct names, including the ones I referenced in my intro scene-setting sentence (ZA-phi-as, TER-ca LU-mi-reis). To my knowledge, lone 'i' is never pronounced with stress in dialogue (and potentially appears only once, in the plot-irrelevant Niffel Lake).

In contrast, whenever 'y' is used as any kind of vowel, it always gets at least secondary stress, as in Hypionia (high-pee-O-nee-ah) and Rhybgaro (RIB-ga-ro). Thus, "Pharihyde" using an 'i' for the middle vowel and a 'y' for the last one lines up with established precedent.

Also, the double vowel 'ei' is consistently and exclusively used to represent an 'ay' sound, as in "day", not as in "hide"! Deidon Hold, Keiv Moc, and again Zopheir and Terca Lumireis — none of these 'ei's sound the way "Farryheid" wants you to pronounce it!

Silent 'e'

I did say I'd break down every different letter between "Pharihyde" and "Farryheid", but this last one's not for flavour, it's just to get the 'y' to act as the right kind of vowel sound. Just a normal feature of English pronunciation rules here (though not entirely without precedent: Halure, Relewiese, Laulyse). Sorry to go out with a whimper ^^;;

Conclusion

The base content of Tales of Vesperia sets up some implied rules about how its made-up-for-the-game words function. "Farryheid" may be a perfectly reasonable transliteration of ファリハイド in a vacuum, but "Pharihyde" follows the rules of the setting, literally to the letter!

Terrible Fic Idea #61: The Old Guard, but make it Stargate

One of the very few things I dislike about the 2020 TOG movie is how little forethought the escape from Merrick's headquarters appears to show. We see dozens of samples taken... and as far as I can tell, all those samples and the doctor who took them survived the firefight. And if her results were being pushed to the cloud? That's one big problem left unresolved. Not to mention a firefight in the middle of London's business district - inside a business that does dealings with the US military at that - is bound to be thoroughly investigated regardless of the strings Copley pulls to cover it up.

All of which came together in my head to ask: What if, six months post-Merrick, The Old Guard gets picked up by Stargate Command?

Just imagine it:

One of the things I love best the Stargate universe is that it takes place so very definitively in the 90s. It's settled in its time period, not some hopeful, impossible future. But for that sake of this AU let's push everything forward 20 years make it so the events of SG1 S4's "The Curse" happen in the same week as the escape from Merrick.

From the outside looking in, there's a lot about the Old Guards' flavor of immortality that looks like having a goa'uld symbiote. This means when the SGC goes looking for other possible goa'uld on Earth after Osiris' escape, they think they find five in the shape of the immortals, with Nile possibly being the latest host for the symbiote that Quỳnh once carried.

The more the SGC looks, however, the less clear it becomes. Daniel is able to recreate most of Copley's research and then some, stretching as far back as written records will allow. Their next thought is tok'ra, but those haven't been around long enough to account for Andy. Maybe she's the queen of a similar group that's been stuck on Earth for a long time and the others are her surviving offspring? There are records of a god matching her description on the Western Steppes in ages past...

With that assumption in mind, six months post-Merrick SG-1 is sent to make contact with the guard, hoping to gain more allies against Apophis.

The meeting itself is both extremely tense and a comedy of errors. Both groups are on completely different pages as to why they're meeting and what's at stake, and it very nearly ends in a firefight before Daniel goes into an impassioned speech (at gunpoint) as to why the guard should help humanity fight the goa'uld... to which Andy goes what the fuck are you talking about?

Once every gets on the same page and assurances are made that there will be no human experimentation whatsoever, the guard end up joining the SGC as independent contractors. Officially they are SG-21, assigned to search and rescue/covert ops, but mostly they continue to fight for what we think is right, just on a galactic scale. They nominally check in every few weeks, but are largely left to their own devices. This makes the rare occasions any of them are in the Mountain memorable.

A selection of those memorable visits include: 1) Daniel being hogtied, left in a closet, and not found for 15 hours after asking Andy one too many questions about ancient cultures; 2) Sam stumbling upon Joe and Nicky having a deep conversation in a patois of languages in the middle of the cafeteria about how much the Earth and their place in it has changed in their lifetimes, from Jerusalem being the center of ancient world maps to an ever expanding galaxy inhabited by people just like them. It should take vaguely the same tone as Sagan's Cosmos before being completely derailed by one of them asking so, do you think endlessly asphyxiating in the vacuum of space is better or worse than endlessly drowning at the bottom of the ocean? This too should be discussed at macabre length, possibly going into their personal ten worst ways to die lists - but in mostly English, throughly disturbing their fellow diners; and 3) Nile encountering someone she once knew in the Marines for the first time during the events of "Heroes" and having to do the say, I can get killed but don't stay dead speech for the first time herself after dying midway through the mission and coming back to save the day.

Once again, that's all I really have - just lots of scenes of the characters of both fandoms interacting but very little change to the plot lines of either.

Bonuses include: 1) The guard initially being offered commissions in the US Marines for their work at the SGC. These are turned down for a variety of reasons, the last one jokingly being that Joe and Nicky have never gone longer than a week without saying something unbearably romantic to each other and it'll save them the trouble of having to immediately cashier them both out. Extra bonus points if this leads Nicky on overwatch to send a warning shot past the speaker's ear before anyone can bring up the DADT repeal. 2) Booker having been grounded rather than exiled. This should be paired with Nile occasionally slipping into an exasperated yes, Mom whenever Joe and Nicky get overprotective, leading to much confusion as to the guards' family dynamics when they first join the SGC. Some Marines convinced for years that the immortals are, in fact, like the tok'ra and that one of the men is the host for their queen; and 3) The base quartermaster having absolutely no fear of any of them and publicly chewing them out on multiple occasions for the sheer amount of clothes they go through.

Honestly, I have tons of little scenes of this crossover in my head and no coherent storyline to it all, so it may end up as a drabble collection if the bunny stays around long enough. Otherwise, feel free to adopt this bun. As always, link back if you do anything with it.

1. Lavender: How do they calm down in moments of major stress?

- physical touch is a great way to calm Theo down if he’s upset! one of his caregivers picking him up or laying with him on the couch should help a lot

2. Vanilla: What is a food or scent that carries a lot of nostalgia for them? How do they feel if they smell it now?

- those sandwich’s you can buy at grocery stores for a few bucks are super nostalgic for Theo, he ate a ton of them while he was still with the dread doctors and now it’s a 50/50 if he likes them. occasionally he’ll want one while regressed and eat it just fine but when he’s big he steers clear of them as the smell can make him gag

3. Bergamot: What gesture of kindness made the biggest impact on them, and why?

- when Stiles apologized for being so cold towards Theo after he was revived. It wasn’t a huge gesture or anything, just a simple conversation, but by the end Theo was a teary eyed mess & regressed and running full force into Stiles to hug him (stiles ofc reciprocated & maybe got a little misty eyed himself)

4. Mint: What is their sharpest sense, and how does that impact their life?

- his sense of smell. It was strong when he was a kid anyways and then when he became a chimera it only got stronger. It can cause a few issues while he’s regressed, normally he can handle all the scents around but while small he doesn’t like how strong everything is

5. Lilac: Of all the new beginnings in their life, which one was the most important to them? How did they celebrate it?

- becoming a part of the pack was a really big step for Theo and he eventually when they found out about his regression it became an even bigger deal. he likes to celebrate the date that he was “officially” committed to being part of the pack, the pack of course find it adorable and all agree to host a movie night or something every year

6. Cinnamon: What’s their favorite fall tradition?

- trick or treating!!!! as a kid it was one of the only holidays he could celebrate without upsetting the dread doctors, he’d scrape together a costume and take a pillow case to go out and fill it with candy! and even now as a teenager he really loves the holiday, especially when he’s regressed and can tug Scott or someone else from the pack along to get candy at houses (even Derek gets roped into it and he definitely doesn’t flash his eyes at the people hesitant to give Theo candy, nooo not at alllll /sar)

7. Lemon: What is something seemingly inconsequential that can put them in a bad mood for the rest of the day?

- the sounds of drilling. It instantly takes him back to the experiments the dread doctors would preform and all Theo wants to do after hearing it is curl up into a ball. most times his caregivers will catch on and be able to cheer him up, but if he’s alone he gets pretty scared and can fall into a non-verbal state

8. Musk: What do they usually smell like, or what does their home usually smell like?

- the detergent he uses is un-scented and made for sensitive skin, as is his body wash, so his scent isn’t strong at all. It’s mostly a mix of faint pine cologne that Scott uses as he’s at his house a lot, and the vanilla that Lydia always smells like. anything harsher gives Theo a headache, especially when he’s little, the pack are all sure to dial back their perfume/cologne use when Theo’s going to be around

9. Berry: What makes them happier than perhaps it should? Do others know about it?

- head pats/head scratches, he blames his wolf side but he adores getting his hair played with or genuinely just getting pet. especially when he’s little, he often full shifts when he regresses and it only heightens his love for head scratches. I think a few people in the pack know. Scott, Malia, Lydia & Liam definitely know and play into it alllllll the time just to see Theo blush a little

10. Patchouli: What sort of outdoor activities do they enjoy most? Do they get the chance to do that activity often?

- hiking/runs. he loves to run around trails or just freely in the woods! Okay, this may be a bit long from the questions, but I will do my best to answer them! Answers are below the cut!

1: Shinrei met the Matsu's from seeing them around the Akatsuka ward, but Totoko "introduced" her to them! (They begged to know who her new friend was and why she was a popular idol)

I have the scenario in mind that, in the standard fashion of the sextuplets, they were sort of watching Totoko (and eventually Nyaa) hang out with Shinrei from the sidelines much like when they stalk each other to see what the other brothers are doing. Eventually, after gathering enough information about Shinrei from watching and Todomatsu looking up information about her idol career online, they eventually get Totoko to agree to meet them formally at a mixer.

Totoko was a bit worried at first because obviously if they acted weird enough around herself already who KNOWS how they would've acted towards Shinrei, but she was surprised when they pulled through and restrained themselves for the majority of it!

(By the end though you could tell they were physically restraining themselves a lot tho lol) 2: Shinrei, much in a similar fashion to how Totoko and Nyaa were in the first two seasons, works as an international idol! She started her career while living with her mom in the US after she moved there post-high school-graduation, posting some of the music and songs she had begun composing and writing throughout her early adult years. (The reason why I made Shinrei an idol was in part of me wanting to make the girls a trio, but also because of the symbolic nature it could have, with Totoko using fish, Nyaa using cats, and Shinrei using skeletons for their branding. I mentioned this earlier in the tags of a post, but I didn't elaborate on it further than that until now.)

She moves back to Japan not only because she misses home, but she is hosting a mid-summer concert to celebrate the new season a few months later! The fanon season 4 would follow the events leading up to the show, in which it went from a one-idol concert to 3 idols and 6 sextuplets performing near the center of the Akatsuka ward. 3: Much like with the rest of them, it was a pretty slow-burn relationship process with Jyushi and Shinrei. Like AGONIZINGLY slow.

Shinrei was very skittish when first introduced to the Matsu's, and coupled with Jyushi's excited and energetic personality, it made getting used to things a bit harder than she anticipated. I don't see Jyushi being too inconsiderate or oblivious to the fact, so I do think he notices things he does that would ward her off, so he does try to be as gentle as he could at the beginning of their friendship. The fake-official art I posted earlier last month is sort of a demonstration of this, where they took a day to spend time together and outline things that they weren't okay with the other doing or would make the friendship a bit less rocky. I do have a semi-finished relationship chart with all the Matsu's that helps define their dynamic together (along with Jyushi) a bit more, but as I said it's semi-finished since it was done a little bit ago.

Ohh but when they did get closer than friends though... Jyushi definitely likes to walk around with Shinrei and do various physical activities together, like hiking or playing some favorite sports of Jyushi's. They would definitely have that "we hold hands, hug a lot, sometimes kiss each other on the cheek and say I love you but we aren't considered official" dynamic later on (BECAUSE IM A SUCKER FOR THAT TROPE) As for when it does get more serious, I think Jyushi would be the one to say it first out of the two. Jyushi doesn't end up mentioning this fact to ANYONE though until his brothers see him running up to Shinrei and kissing her straight on without hesitation (Which would be considered context for that kiss doodle I posted earlier). 4: She does! Well, partially.

She lives by herself a couple blocks outside the main area where the main cast lives, closer to the outskirts of the town.

-Josh “Schmitty” Schmitistein (I hope I spelled his last name right) was born and raised in Chicago in the 1970′s

-Before being a YDKJ host, he breifly worked at a phone network company (This fact was based off of his voice actor voicing the AT&T customer service bot look it up)

-When he heard his rival from highschool was working for the show, he joined out of spite

-Spite never even imagining being famous at all, hosting the TV edition of YDKJ got a lot of attention, which put a target on his back.

-Before Vol 3, a group of illegal scientists kidnaped him (and a few other small celebrities) in order to test their Quiplash serum in order to artificially create magic and figure out how desperate does one have to be to be funny 

-They did this by turning them into quips and having comedy competitions and the winner get’s food, the loser is more likely to die of starvation.

-A few months in, Schmitty figures out how to completely control Quiplash, and escaped to Cookies house, and called 911.

-The police search the abandoned lab and found the only survivors were the earliest tests of quips that lost all humanity, the others that were there were either killed or taken somewhere else.

-Schmitty, reluctantly took them in order for them to have a chance to turn back into a human in the future

-In the mean time, Schmitty discovered that he can change one of his hands into a quip form, he can defy gravity in his quip form(as in if he jumps mid transformation, he doesn’t fall down), he is pretty much indestructible in his quip form, and being in the quip form for long periods of time hurts....a lot

-In YDKJ:The Ride, when he fell to the bottom, he hit his shoulder on a rusty piece of metal, causing horrific scarring. (don’t worry, he got a tetanus shot afterwards.

-After hosting a few more YDKJ shows, he realized it wasn’t working out for him so he retired and just read sponserships.

-He also picked up videogame dev as a hobby, when he thought of an idea.

-As a big fat “Fuck You” to the people in charge, he made a non-serious videogame based off of the event called well Quiplash. 

-When the game went viral, he quit completely and focused more on being a game designer.

-Around the time the sequel came out, he, Cookie, and his writer friend, Spencer Ham, met up again a year after YDKJ’s final season, meeting a government official Adal.Thus began Trivia murder party.

So for me the most interesting thing about this prologue is that it took me from “almost sure” to “fairly certain” on my theory that Chanarach the Herald is Shallans mother. I’ve been kicking this around for a while and I think it fits a lot of clues, but this last piece slotted into place with the events of the night Gavilar was killed.

1. I attached official art of the two of them. Usually I wouldn’t think resemblance means anything, but in this case with all of the other clues I think it’s intentional. They’re the only redheads mentioned in the series as well, which is pretty distinctive.

2. Shallan killed her mother in self defense when she was young. She had just bonded her first spren, Testament. She heard her parents fighting about Shallan being “one of them” and then her mother attacked her with a knife and she turned Testament into a shardblade and killed her. There are a LOT of questions there. By “them” her mother presumably meant a Radiant. How would she know that? The knowledge of how the Knights Radiant worked has been lost. How would she even notice the signs? Almost no one prior to the events of the series is aware of the implications of bonding a spren. And why does it upset her to the point she wants to kill of Shallan? The Knights Radiant are believed to be long gone, and while they’re regarded as traitors, most people wouldn’t panic at the thought of them coming back.

3. Shallan has a lot of buried trauma that she doesn’t know how to deal with. Killing her parents to save herself is one for obvious reasons, and breaking her bond with Testament out of immaturity and ignorance is another. There’s a third secret though, more terrible than anything revealed so far. Her psyche has worked incredibly hard to keep her away from it. What could be so horrible that even the revelation she has killed her family can’t compare? What if she indirectly caused the Everstorm by returning Chanarach back to Braize after she had abandoned the Oathpact? We know Taln never broke up until the bitter end. He was confused that he was back on Roshar, and I’m inclined to believe that isn’t a case of unreliable narrator and it really was someone else who gave in.

4. We know what most of the other Heralds have been up to recently. We’ve seen some of them and others have been definitively located. We know nothing of Chanarachs whereabouts since the Oathpact was broken. We do have a WOB though that a character in the story has met her, even if they aren’t aware of it. The caveat that they may not know it’s her seems very meaningful.

5. How does this relate to the prologue you say? The “Stormfather” (I made it clear in one of my other hosts that I think this is one of the Heralds using an illusion to fool Gavilar, whose vanity has made him easy to manipulate) says abruptly that a Herald just died. We know they can feel each other’s deaths because of their bond; this is something we actually see when Jezrien is killed. Shallan would have been 11 at the time. This is the same age that she is confirmed to have been when she killed her mother. That is what cinched it for me. The Herald who died was Chanarach and her death was what ensured the Last Desolation, and that is the memory Shallan is too afraid to confront. Dramatic!

I let out a heavy sigh, relieved to finally be at home after such a long day of standing around in the Georgia heat with only a thin layer of fabric to protect my eyes and head from the scorching sun. Yeah, anyone who says that tent did well at protecting everyone under it today is nothing but a liar. I was in a short, strapless white summer dress, the fabric of which barely had any weight and consistency to provide heat of its own yet I still damn near melted. Ok, I’ll admit, some of the roasting heat probably came from the energy and force I put into singing the songs of my band’s new album ‘Starting At The End’. 

The mini concert we held in this large open field was meant as an introduction to the city of Savannah where all the band members - myself included - are actually from but we all moved to the West Coast to pursue our music career. And now that we’ve grown, and the majority of us are married, one of us is a father now as well, we’ve decided to return to our hometown. The decision was so spontaneous and was executed so quickly due to no one objecting to it that it still hasn’t me that I’m no longer in LA. The heat isn’t helping my ‘processing’ process but I’ll get to it eventually. Do I miss LA though? Not sure I do - I think I more miss the people I was closer to while I was there.

Suddenly, as if perfectly timed, my phone dings, notifying me that I’ve received a message. I don’t have to look to know it’s from - there’s only one person I actively text and his name is....

Corpse and I met on the charity livestream Jacksepticeye organized and invited our band to so we could play Among Us with some of the best gamers and streamers on the internet. It was a huge honor and a ton of fun, definitely an event I’d like to repeat in the near future because I had such a good time and I know all my bandmates did too. We all got acquainted and even became official friends with the gamers that were practically our hosts, Corpse becoming the closest friends I’d earn. That livestream happened months ago and we still text just as consistently.

This is OUR THING trademark, mine and Corpse’s and no one can take it away from us. It’s a significant element of our friendship that enables us both to understand one another when one of us feels the way I described in my message - a popped tire or a deflated balloon. I’m usually the exhausted one - blame the many shows we do and the many meet-and-greets we organize for our lovely fans. It’s the type of exhaustion none of the band members mind at all, but we definitely need some time to recover from it.

As I go to sit down on my couch, the flower crown I’ve been wearing slips off the top of my head, falling on the floor, creating a soft noise that attracts the attention of one of my many cats - Sasha. She’s the youngest and most curious kitty in the family, always protected by the other four - Luna, Cassie, Silver and Lynn. Those four are far lazier and a lot more disinterested in comparison to Sasha who immediately runs over to see what’s fallen.

I smile to myself, taking the flower crown and undoing it to lessen it by a few stems to make it smaller, all the while being watched by the curious Sasha whose interest is rewarded in the end when I put the now adorably tiny flower crown on her head.

While she still hasn’t shaken the thing off I manage to snap a pic which I send to Corpse who opens it mere seconds after it was delivered.

I burst out laughing for two reasons - 1.The message itself, damn it! It’s hilarious; 2. Corpse has learnt the name of each one of my cats and never mixes them up - not even Luna and Lynn who look almost identical. That amount of attention to detail is astonishing and very meaningful to me, it genuinely warms my heart and that may or may not be dramatic but it’s definitely not exaggerated.

He’s referring to the e-girl look I did for one show the band had in downtown LA one night. I was drunk and looking forward to trying new things so I improvised the hell out of my outfit but I apparently looked presentable enough to leave a good impression on Corpse despite the pic I sent him being a bit blurry and being a mirror selfie in the bathroom of the very bar we were performing in. It goes without saying that the mirror was dirty too - had a bunch of writing on it which Corpse said only added to the aesthetic. Looking back on it now I kinda agree, and luckily so did the fans in the comments of that same photo when I posted it on Instagram.

As if sensing that we’re talking about her, Sasha hops on the couch, poking her head over my phone to look down at the screen.

It’s times like these that the butterflies in my stomach remind me just why I’ve started catching feelings for this man despite all the distance between us and despite barely knowing him - he knows me more than I know him but I don’t mind it, oddly enough.

I’m fond of our connection and though I sometimes dream of something more, I’m also content with what we already have considering that ‘something more’ seems rather unattainable as of now.

My phone dings again, clearing the fog of thoughts and presenting me with a new message from Corpse.

My breath catches in my throat as a wide grin spreads across my face. The thought of having Corpse so close to me sends those aforementioned butterflies in my stomach into a raving mood and they practically explode my insides with excitement and joy like I’ve never felt it before. I can’t wrap my brain around the fact that we’re about to go from having an entire country between us, to being just some ways away - him in the audience and me on stage without a single clue of who to look for. That’s part of the excitement though, I guess, part of the guessing game that’s gonna make our meeting all the more interesting.

He’ll be a stranger in the crowd and I’ll be a performer on a stage - seemingly two people who have no relation whatsoever. But damn does it go beyond that: No one has to know how hard I’m falling for that stranger in the crowd.

Dream SMP Recap (December 6/2020) - End of Week

What started as a sad but calm day ended with a revolution where morality was questioned and blood was shed. The server’s first canon death since the three lives rule was implemented occurred, and all hell broke loose.

Dream’s motivations have started to be laid bare, but whether or not he’s in the wrong or right remains foggy as ever in a world where everyone’s morals are gray.

Also, the prison’s construction continues and some strange red corruptions called “Blood Vines” have sprouted up on the server.

A short summary of the week’s total events is at the end of the post.

- HBomb hosts Niki and Wilbur’s L’Cast

- Fundy continues work on the chess board

- Ranboo is leaving a book with messages to communicate with Tommy

- Fundy and Ranboo visit Tommy and help him through the Nether to find blaze rods. It’s a very...interesting...time... Fundy fills Tommy in on the fact that Dream is officially recognizing L’manburg as a country.

- Tommy falls in lava and loses all his stuff

- Then he burns to death

- Then he falls in lava and loses all his stuff again

- He FINALLY gets an ender chest

- Lazar asks him for help since he’d fallen in lava and needed help getting out. As Tommy does so, Lazar questions why Tommy hasn’t turned against L’manburg. Tommy says it’s because Tubbo is there, but Lazar points out that Tubbo was the one who exiled him.

- Ghostbur comes on and says he has a gift.

- Tommy attempts to rescue Lazar from the depths of the lava pit. Techno starts arguing with him.

- Tommy falls in lava and loses all his stuff again. He gives up on helping Lazar, who is understandably annoyed at him.

- Philza joins the call wondering wtf is happening and why Tommy keeps dying, but Tommy just ends stream

- Psyche! After credits scene. Ghostbur asks Tommy to return to Logstedshire so he dies in lava to fast-travel back. Ghostbur gives Tommy a lodestone compass named “Your Tubbo” that points back to L’manburg at all times. Tommy puts the compass in his ender chest right next to the discs, saying he’ll keep it close to his heart.

- Thunder’s frustrated that Tommy got exiled exiled because the Prank War he was setting up between Dream and Tommy can no longer happen and Thunder’s great villain arc has been cancelled - he is no longer a villain now.

- Now, he wants to do the clay prank to George instead to try and get Dream and George to turn on each other as revenge for Dream burning his house.

- Puffy builds Tommy a second Christmas Tree.

--- Note: From this point on I tried to include more specific details than normal since it’s an important and confusing event ---

- Quackity declares war on the Dream SMP from Mexican L’manburg. He gets George, Sapnap and Karl on to help. He’s rigged TNT under Eret’s castle bridge and wants to invoke the same ideas as the Mexican Revolution. He wants to put M.L. on the map by staging an assassination and using George’s dethronement as an excuse to start a political movement.

- Sapnap wants to take on Technoblade but Quackity tells him that they have to take things step by step and that it’s an extremely bad idea to do it now.

- Eret asks Hbomb to be one of his knights. HBomb agrees.

- George wants his kingship back 

The explosion goes to plan with H and Puffy as witnesses.

CANON DEATH: KARL 

Cause: Death by explosion and falling

- George distracts Eret while Quackity, Sapnap and Karl steal his throne. Punz joins Eret’s side as one of his other knights.

 - The M.L. side reconvenes in L’manburg and drink invisibility potions. Dream is in Mexican L’manburg. He is tearing the dirt to shreds. Meanwhile, Eret gives a speech to his Knights as they head to Party Island. Dream, alone, is invisible in Boomerville.

- Sapnap gets Dream to log (he says it’s lag). The Dream SMP faction blows up M.L. with TNT. The Mexican L’manburgians kill Puffy. 

- They want to head to the Holy Land. Dream says he wants to talk. They collect at the Church.

- They argue. Dream threatens to kill Quackity permanently and make sure Mexican L’manburg can never rise again. (Also Karl’s acting is genuinely good holy shit)

- Sapnap tells George that he thinks Dream has completely turned against them, and that they’re better off disowning him.

Dream: “You’re painting me as this tyrant when I’m just trying to maintain peace.”

He refers to it as his castle, his throne. He calls the people of M.L. “terrorists.”

He says that in his eyes, Mexican L’manburg does not even exist, and that he’ll speak to Tubbo about making sure he sees that it doesn’t exist as well.

M.L. argues that putting a human life above a few blocks of gold is more important.

Dream refers to himself as the “ruler” of the Dream SMP, the “leader,” letting it slip that “king” is a meaningless title.

He says that Quackity is causing the most problems, the number one “enemy” of the SMP right now. Similar to how he referred to Tommy defying him.

He says that Quackity is not like Tubbo, who is a “fair, just ruler” and that is why New L’manburg is recognized and Mexican L’manburg is not. Tubbo would never do what Quackity did. Wilbur and Jschlatt and Tommy would. He says that he waited until New L’manburg had a reasonable leader to recognize it.

- “Un-killing” is implied to be a thing, where the person who gave you your canon death can take it back.

 Dream: “The king is a figurehead and he knows that!”

Eret: “I do.”

Quackity: “So that’s what you are Eret -- a puppet--”

Dream: “Yes! -- no he’s not a puppet-- h-he has no power and I have - and - it’s the same thing and--”

(Dream proceeds to deny Eret being a “puppet”)

- Quackity decides to dissolve Mexican L’manburg for a clean slate and call it something else. He wants the server to have a precedent of establishing new countries without having to go to Dream for recognition every time.

- Eret agrees to recognize Quackity’s new country if they apologize and return the throne.

CANON UNDEATHING: KARL (?)*

* Dream says that the death is still canon later since plot was based around it. I don’t know what Karl considers his death count to be?

- Sapnap declares that he no longer wants to fight Techno but Dream instead. He says he wants to slay Dream in front of everyone.

- Overall, Dream and Eret declare it a “failed coup” and say that the destruction is just a consequence of “what happens when you don’t plan anything” but Quackity is satisfied that his new country has been “put on the map.” 

- Quackity declares the country to be named “El Rapids” in honor of Cedar Rapids.

- Punz no longer wants to be an official Knight.

- Quackity misses Ghostbur and wants to speak with him. He tells Ghostbur about the war. Ghostbur asks if it was a revolution - Quackity says yes! Ghostbur also informs Quackity that he burnt the sacred texts - How to Sex 2 - in lava.

- Karl streams with the intention of rebuilding and preparing for Pokimane’s visit

- Karl steals Eret’s Museum Llamas and gets caught in the act. Fortunately this doesn’t spark up the war again. They take a llama to Party Island.

- They get into trouble at Boomerville and Lazar joins.

- Dream comes online and asks Sam about the prison’s progress. Bad gets annoyed at Sam for destroying the beachfront property value, and he didn’t authorize the seizure of the land. Dream is there helping to shovel but Bad wants him to stop. Bad is angry about the prison being built and starts shouting at Sam.

- Bad tries to negotiate with Dream. Dream refers to the prison as containing a “prisoner.” Singular. And that the prisoner would have nothing, and Bad would be in charge of helping to guard it. There are going to be multiple “layers.”

- The prison will be in the middle of the ocean bit, and Bad would have a terraformed beachfront property. All of the land would be considered property of the Badlands - including the prison.

- People are going to have to go through PORTALS to escape the prison.

- Bad starts to come around to the prison idea. Dream tells Sam he thinks they need more hands to help, potentially Ant and Eret.

- A strange, giant red “egg” has appeared in the corner of Bad’s statue room. He feels a strange aura coming from it, and he’s unable to bring himself to break it.

- Dream says Eret can’t help with the prison but he can help make the beach nicer. Bad says he might want to put Tommy in the prison but Dream says no, Tommy’s already exiled. So the prison isn’t for Tommy.

- Once the prisoner is in there, Dream says they would only be able to be let out “by the server.” It’s got certain secrets that only Dream and Sam know about. Sam says that he could potentially escape from it, but it will be so impenetrable that even if you know the secrets it would still be difficult to escape from.

- Bad shows Dream the Egg. Dream gets creeped out by it.

- Another Red Corruption has appeared near Hutt’s Pizza, and another at the Mansion. Everyone swears that it wasn’t there before, and there wasn’t enough time for someone to place all of it manually in the time that they were down there.

- Bad stabs Dream for trying to “hurt it.” He likes it for some reason.

- Bad asks Dream about who the prison’s for. Dream says “if you can’t kill somebody, you need to lock them up.” He mentions that it’s one of the more powerful people on the server, someone who either provides a threat now or in the future. He has someone in mind.

Dream explains to Bad and Sam that the reason he switched sides in the Manberg-Pogtopia War was because Schlatt gave him something.

And that thing is “a card up his sleeve” until he needs it.

A book of great value.

It puts Dream in danger if people know of it, but also gives Dream power.

The “most valuable thing on the server.”

Something pertaining to the prison.

Something where they wouldn’t believe Dream if he told them what he was given.

- The corruption grows AGAIN despite Dream, Sam and Bad all being in the middle of the ocean

- Another corruption appears on Tommy’s Power Tower

- The water level in New L’manburg has risen again, covering George and Quackity’s mushroom house

- The prison is going to be as tall as a MOUNTAIN

- Dream proposes the idea of Bad giving him the disc to piss off Tommy. Bad says that Skeppy has it so he’ll have to ask some other time. He might trade some information about Schlatt’s book in return for the disc.

- Bad says he likes the name a dono came up with for the corruption -- “Blood Vines”

- Dream and Sam removed the Blood Vines on the Mansion to Bad’s dismay. Sam burns the Vines and Bad goes on a murderous rampage against him.

- Technoblade got a “Bee our guest” achievement

- Dream burns down the Eiffel Tower again.

- The prison will be reinforced with 15 layers of obsidian, and the guards will have Ender Pearl Stasis Chambers that are alarm-activated.

- The Blood Vines have sprouted up from Schlatt’s Grave.

The prison’s unofficial name as of right now is “Pandora’s Vault,” but it is subject to change.

Soutaicho’s Secret Admirer (Shunsui x Reader) — Part 3/6

I know I said I’d have something for you this weekend, but all the love ya’ll showed Part 2 of this story had me super inspired that I just sat down and wrote this out. After all, feedback is what fuels writers xD There should be a few more parts left after this. I know I know...the 2-parter story has evolved into a 5-parter :P

As much as Nanao-chan strictly insisted that today was just like any other day, the bits of pink and red popping up all over the black and white of the seireitei said otherwise. Of course, Squad 1 was devoid of such nonsense, despite Shunsui's several clandestine operations to host a party in the 1st for the last decade. He had been sternly thwarted by his fuktaicho who did not believe this day to hold any meaning at all.

Maybe that's why it was that much more fun to bother her thoroughly with something she would definitely think to be too extravagant.

"Happy Valentine's Day, my sweet, sweet, Nanao-chan," Shunsui said with a cheeky smile, plopping the gift down on her desk.

She stared at the little teddy-bear donned in red bows and holding a red plushy heart saying "sweet, sweet, Nanao-chan!"

Her gaze turned upwards towards him. "This is a highly inappropriate gift to give to your fuktaicho."

"Ah, but we are practically family. And you are my sweet, sweet, Nanao-chan after all..."

"Hmm..." was all she said in response.

Even if she said she hated the gift, she dared not move it. She allowed the fluffy thing to take space on her desk and carried on working.

Shunsui continued to stare at her, waiting impatiently and expectantly. She continued to look over another expense report from the 11th for property damage, but Shunsui didn't move.

Finally she looked up. "Did you need something?"

He pouted at her. "Did Nanao-chan forget?"

She wanted to pretend and feign ignorance but she just couldn't do it. She has clearly gone soft in the past couple of years if his pouting face could make her cave this easily.

"Fine," she sighed, and reached into her desk drawer. In her hand was an assorted box of chocolates all complete with a white ribbon tied into a bow. "Happy Valentine's Day, Taicho," she said.

"Why, thank you, Nanao-chan! You really shouldn't have," he said making Nanao snort a bit. He was already opening it as he sauntered towards his side of the office.

On top of his desk was...well, nothing but paperwork, and he had to say he was just a little bit disappointed. He had been wondering what his beloved Secret Admirer would give him this Valentine's Day. Truthfully, it was all he had been  looking forward to this week. But there was no love letter hidden beneath other official mail or left on top of his window sill.

He sat down at his desk and pulled out his latest project. He popped in one of Nanao-chan's chocolates, the taste of salted caramel teasing his taste buds, and spread out the fancy lavender colored paper.

After all, she wasn't the only one with a way of words.

Even after becoming the Soutaicho, he continued to write a few chapters for "Rose-Colored-Path." Sure, that was mostly erotica but writing a love letter couldn't be that difficult, could it?

He already had a bit written out. He was still trying to figure out how to tell this sweet Secret Admirer he would want to get to know her, without making it sound like either its a command from the Soutaicho, or as if he was a complete and utter lecher trying to score a night or two of fun.

Then of course there was the bigger problem. How in the world was he to get this love letter to her? He still had no clue who she was let alone if she was actually serious about the things she said. It was both frustrating and romantic.

Right now, as things were, it was mostly frustrating.

It was in times like this that he desperately wished Juu was around. He was certain his best friend would have had some kind of solution or at least some words of wisdom to offer to this heartbreaking dilemma. Or maybe he would have admonished Shunsui for falling for someone he hadn't even seen yet. With Juu gone, and with the position he now held, he had no one to talk to about things that bothered him.

He had no peers after all. Being the man at the top was not easy. He knew it would be a difficult job when he stepped up to it, but he had no idea that it would be this lonely.

All of his quiet sighing and restless shuffling naturally drew Nanao's attention.

"How difficult is it to read through a missive and stamp your seal of authority?" Nanao asked, stepping up to his desk. He tried to hide what he was working on, but Nanao's sharp eyes would not be waylaid. "Unless...you are not working on the paperwork as you were supposed..."

"No, no!" Shunsui insisted, knowing the lavender paper was peeking through his hands. "It's just a bit of difficult paperwork. Strictly official business, I assure you, my dear Nanao-chan."

"Oh I see," she said, and Shunsui hoped she really didn't see at all.

"What is it?" he asked warily.

She had a strange smile on her face. One that had Shunsui wanting to run for cover. It did not bode well when Nanao-chan bared her teeth like that.

"Does this have anything to do with...your Secret Admirer perhaps?"

Shunsui could swear he tried to remain expressionless as to not give anything away, but maybe his heart stopped a little."I don't know what you are talking about."

She raised a brow at him. "Really? Do you really think anything would get by me in this office? That I wouldn't notice the fancy little letters you've been hiding from me?"

"You knew?" Shunsui asked, a bit shocked. And here he was thinking he was being so hush hush about the whole thing.

Nanao rolled her eyes and returned to her desk. "It offends me that you thought I didn't."

Interesting turn of events this turned out to be. He couldn't help but wonder. If Nanao-chan did indeed know all about his Secret Admirer...maybe...

"Do you know who it is?"

Nanao, who had picked up her paperwork again, smiled down at the form before her. "Maybe I do, maybe I don't," she said non-commitedly.

"Please, Nanao-chan! Don't be so mean to your Taicho. Just tell me."

She shook her head, denying his request. "I'm not telling you anything about anything. Now, please either do your work, or run along and let me do my work in peace."

"So mean," Shunsui mumbled, picking up the brush once more and dipping it in ink.

However, the whole conversation planted a terrible thought in his head. What if there really was no Secret Admirer? What if it was some elaborate prank on the poor lonely Soutaicho by someone? Maybe the SWA was having a laugh. He wouldn't put it past Matsumoto-san honestly. Or even his own Nanao-chan. The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. And the more it made sense, the more it made his mood plummet.

But he didn't want to believe it. He longed for these letters to be true, for it was too late now. He was halfway there...falling for a nameless, faceless woman who had romanced and seduced him with just a sweet words. How cruel would it be for it to now turn out to be nothing more than a prank?

A few minutes passed by, the silence broken only by the scratch of brush on paper. Then a commotion outside startled Shunsui out of his reverie.

A sharp knock, and a bid to enter, was followed by an officer of the 1st relaying some strange information of something or the other that Squads 11 and 12 had gotten up to. A fight or a brawl.

Nanao sighed, standing up from her desk. "Not again."

"It's alright, Nanao-chan. I'll take care of it. You carry on with whatever it is that you were doing," Shunsui said making a move towards the door already. His mood was feeling low and this was the perfect excuse to get out of the office for a while.

Once he was gone, Nanao cleared up the completed paperwork on his desk to be sent to the relevant divisions. If the little lavender paper got stuffed between some forms and approvals, it was purely an accident. If that specific set of forms ended up in Squad 13, it was surely unintentional. If it was found by the third seat of Squad 13 it was only because their squad was without a fuktaicho still and all the paperwork fell upon her.

Nanao definitely couldn't have predicted any of that after all. But then again...Ise Nanao almost always knew exactly what was going on, did she not?

Shunsui was in a glum mood when he finally returned to the office. Nanao had left a message with another officer to let him know that she had a SWA meeting so she would be leaving the office a bit earlier than usual to attend that before the Valentine’s Day Party at the 8th.

He almost thought to go straight to said party. Lisa had continued with his silly tradition as the current Taicho of Squad 8, and she went all out. He dared not be too late and risk all the good sake provided generously by Squad 6, and the cellars of  Kuchiki manor itself, running out. But he had to finish his love letter, even if he knew he might never get to send it to the relevant individual...if there even was an individual in the first place.

When he stepped in, he couldn't see the lavender paper on his desk. Truth be told, he couldn't see anything on his desk at all.

It was covered with a huge, and by huge meaning gigantic, bouquet of red roses. He shunpoed to see if there was a card left for him, and there definitely was.

Dear Shunsui,

I have to say I don't need a special day out of the year to show you how much you mean to me. Still I know how much you enjoy this day. I used to love the parties you threw back then. Yadomaru Taicho carries on the traditions but I feel it's not just the same. Not without you.

Every day feels like a day dedicated to love when thoughts of you haunt me always...but what a beautiful way to be haunted indeed.

Happy Valentine's Day, Shunsui!

These roses may one day fade, but my love for you never will. I've loved you for a lifetime already, and I know I would love you for another lifetime more.

He picked up the box of chocolates he hadn't noticed earlier as it was hidden behind the elaborate bouquet of roses. It was an elegant box with a pretty pink print of sakura blossoms, tied together with a pink bow. It almost looked too pretty to undo. Almost.

He slowly opened it and popped a cute heart-shaped chocolate into his mouth, savoring the taste of delicious chocolate mixed with the mild bite of the sake. It tasted absolutely divine.

He was floored. If this was a prank, it was truly an unnecessarily elaborate one.

But he allowed himself to cherish this moment in the solitude of his now quiet office. Handmade chocolates and flowers...it was something he would do for someone he was romancing. Now to be romanced by someone so extravagantly, it felt truly amazing. He couldn't believe someone made these with her own hands just for him. He didn't think he had something so sweet done for him in a very long time...maybe not forever.

He was the one who had always played the role of the romantic, the seducer, the lover...it did indeed feel nice to have this kind of charm turned on him.

But as much as he devoured the attention, he also felt strangely dismayed. Instinctively, he was a giver. It applied to his family and friends, and it definitely applied to his love life. Even if it was a summer fling, he still treated his companions with respect and adoration. In whatever way possible, he tried to give everything he could to those he loved and valued. It was not in him to not reciprocate. He didn't know how to not be a giver. It wasn't in his nature.

I COME BACK WITH THOUGHTS/THEORIES ON ITADORI AND HIS RELATIONS- I THINK.

anyways, so i'll just point this out: i'm not good at speaking my thoughts in an organized manner. i absolutely suck at it, i speak on how my brain brings up the thoughts so i might ramble, get over my head in a thought, etc. i can't control it so i apologize in advance for the jumpiness of the texts. i will spell a lot of things wrong and not everything will be correct, as i read translations and on a manga site. don't worry it's not illegal, i believe.

MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD.

i apologize for my absence! last week or two weeks ago the tower to my computer completely broke and will not turn on. i tried to repair it and follow my fathers instructions but nothing worked. even cleaned off the fan and went through countless nights readjusting things. it's not my cords either so to help me out my father is working extra shifts to get me a new pc. so in the meantime i'll do small posts like these but not full writing/head canons until i have a computer tower lol. a family member was kind enough to allow me to have their phone while we work throughout this issue.

now onto the actual topic:

kenjaku and itadori's relationship. ( family wise ).

for context in the most recent chapter, 160 "colony" kamo shows up in sasaki's home and talks to her about the culling game and a barrier. but that's not the point, the point is as he's guiding her to the barrier inside her "dream" at the end he says "oh right. i almost forgot to tell you. thank you for getting along with my son." and then she is awakened inside the barrier, in her pajamas beside iguchi. when sasaki and iguchi look at the barrier and gather themselves they bring up kamo.

sasaki asked iguchi if he mentioned his son and he says no. this leaves sasaki in a state of confusion when itadori flashes in her mind. she says his name aloud like she finally connected the dots. now. why am i bringing up this whole kenjaku thanking sasaki for being his "son"'s friend. it throws me off because why didn't he thank iguchi?

did he not think iguchi meant their friendship? because sasaki was the one uninjured and still counted itadori as a friend? does iguchi not consider itadori as a friend anymore?

because we haven't seen these two at all since the incident. that raised many questions in me. as well "how can itadori be related to kamo?" and itadori is related to choso.

because kamo's technique is explained ( vaguely. we are aware he can create barriers, take over bodies, and has incredible cursed tools. chapter 134. this is also where choso makes his connection ( i believe. ) to itadori yuji as his brother. but because we saw this with todo many thought itadori just had another unconsious technique that allows the person who is hit create false memories and believe of a completely made up relationship with itadori without his knowledge. but alas, i was wrong. ) and we're given more hints shown than told ( imo ) i tried my best to make sense out of the situation and what he said. i think my conclusions are pretty solid, so continuing on.

we're given very little history on itadori, his past, and family. at the start of the manga we know that itadori's only family he knows is his grandfather and that he is ill in the hospital. at the very very beginning we learn that itadori is your average cute, fluffy, laid back but strong and goofy protagonist. in smaller words: itadori is kirby but even cuter and dumber.

my first impressions of him is a pineapple. if you're confused to this saying: it's calling a person prickly on the outside but sweet on the inside. and this is true, itadori's grandfather seems prickly and cold on the outside but he genuinely cares for itadori.

he raised itadori for all we know and did that with his all in assumption. but this ends up backfiring onto itadori, because he cares so much for his grandson - he ends up leaving a " curse " on yuji.

help people. save them.

itadori takes this to heart as his grandfathers speech is his last one. when he looks over to his grandfather the man is dead and now yuji is left alone. then the following events occur.

at this point in time i assumed itadori was an orphan ( he technically is if we're connecting the dots. his parents has not been shown, he doesn't speak of them, they aren't in the picture. we can conclude either they disowned itadori or died before he could make complete memories of them. )

but when we are shown in chapter 143 itadori's parents we see this "woman" jin ( yuji's father ) and his grandfather talking about has the same scar pattern. this scar pattern is either stitching ( assuming that is how kamo keeps the top of the opened skull from coming off. this is also how kamo revealed his cursed technique / body of sorts ( the brain, assuming that is kenjaku in his cursed technique and not the body / puppet he is controlling " getou suguru " ) to gojou. )

this is the only way i find kamo being able to assign itadori as his son. why is that you might be asking this dumbass here.

we do not have the full story, exact date, location, and full context of the memory/dream itadori is having. this cannot be fake either because kamo would than have no reason to call itadori his son. or is there? anyways.

take a leap of faith with me. imagine that before itadori is born ( he seems no more than a few weeks or days old in this memory. hence why i am thinking my conclusion is pretty solid in theory. but yknow gege, there might be something different. ) anywhooo.

TW. D3ATH/IMPLYING ANTI LIFE ATTEMPT

kamo had to have taken over yuji's mothers body after an accident OR after she gave birth to yuji. his grandfather is interrupted by her before he can finish his sentence but it seems to be leading to the conclusion that either kaori ( yuji's mother ) died while giving birth to yuji or kaori could not conceive and tried to take her own life or cause an accident that would take her life. ( i read a fan translation for this part but im pretty sure i also read the official translation today too and it added up to the same. )

i believe in the first idea, but since kamo's cursed technique wasn't explained in detail i don't know the conditions of his body technique. does the original host of the body have to be dead? can he regenerate body limbs ( i highly doubt. getou lost an arm during his fight with yuta. overconfident dick. reminding me of an ex ANTWAYS. i forgive him for being overconfident smooch. he learned. OFF TOPIC but continuing on i promise.

this is being continued from the cut off point. i'm so upset so it'll just be summarized. i can't believe this shit lol i took three hours just to finish it for it to literally cut off the bottom half.

continuing on in a sadge mood. kamo must not have the complete ability to take over a body. after all getou took his only arm he had as he was dying and choked his own body to his full ability. getou was willing to die ( possibly, you never know he could be alive if he killed his own body. moving on. ) just to have the chance to save his friend from being swallowed by a damn box.

so there has to be a chance that kamo cannot fully take over the previous persons complete consious and memory of their body. if getou still had his other arm after losing the fight to yuta, he could've choked kamo with both arms. in theory kamo wouldn't be able to control the right arm and die to the previous host choking him to death.

so why wouldn't the other hosts do it? after all, kamo did say it was his first time experiencing such a thing. assuming kamo has lived throughout many bodies in his 150+ lifespan none of the previous hosts could take control of their body.

i believe getou was completely influenced by gojou and his six eyes. there is no way gojou would even try to speak out to his friend unless he had an inkling or saw getou still in there. helpless and without the ability to save himself from the cage he's in.

being used and puppeteered in his own body by an external force. laughing in the world he could not. putting getou into a constant misery and defeat that he couldn't escape his hell. the one he tried so hard to fight and get out of. even if it was the wrong path.

gojou was the last person to witness getou dying. he had to watch getou bleed out after their conversation because he couldn't bring himself to kill his friend. the one he spent his whole jujutsu student life with. so for gojou to say such a thing to getou despite all that he did had to break getou out of his misery and give him that small sliver of hope that he could do something. of course he failed, but i doubt that's going to be the end of that.

the only way i see kamo being related to yuji is if he took over kaori's body before the pregnancy. assuming that when kamo takes over a body he becomes one with said body and is that person for however long he lives in said body. my only thing is, can he take over a persons body whilst they are alive? i would go more in depth like i did the last time but i am extremely upset about my work being erased so that's the end of this part.

the last time we see sukuna in a manga page after the shibuya incident is where he is on his throne and in his domain. this is after yuji is stabbed by yuta and is presumed "dead" at the time. he seems to be interested in yuta and i can think of 2-3 things. I would love to hear your theories too so don't be afraid to barge into my dms like the koolaid man.

A - sukuna is interested in Yuta because of his ability to use the reverse healing technique ( only a few sorcerers know this. sukuna being the first. shoko being the second one to be told that she has this power and then gojou. ) because of this he sees potential in yuta as well or has added this boy into his plans. after all, there is very few that can make sukuna make an expression that isn't an RBF. aka megumi and possibly gojou. I was looking at the page of him stabbing yuji and noticed we only see the entry point of where the blade enters. it's smaller because some got chunked off so its a possibility yuta used this to his advantage when "killing" yuji and instead hit an artery that could kill him but quickly healed him afterwards. or just his heart. the ideas.

B. Rika, Yuta is able to completely control Rika as shown. Even though he claims he is on the weak side, these two combined seem like an unstoppable force. He may be interested in Rika as she is a curse that has been put on someone that can fully control it. Not many people is shown to be able to control their curse. As we haven't met many.

Style Guide: Wang Yibo

His personal style through the years. from clothes, shoes and accessories. I will include “concept” styles from his UNIQ days and variety shows. As well as a few from awards show & fan meets he attended. I honestly just want to see how he changed so here it is. plus an excuse to look at his pretty pictures. 

I. Early Years and Idol Life

Yibo’s initial style was pretty much divided into his idol life and his personal style. His clothes were leaning more into a blend hip-hop and Korean/contemporary style. He went through various style changes as an Idol with his group, UNIQ and really adapted the KPOP idol style. from changes to his hair color, make up on his performances and elaborate stage clothes. The transition from the innocent/delicate looking blonde to his EOEO look -- he just proves that he can represent any concept well. 

II. Solo work as Wang Yibo

Things started to speed up with his popularity from late 2017 to 2018. Juggling his work as a Musician, Actor, Host, Model, Brand ambassador- everything else. Famous brands started to notice him and his magazine covers are coming one after the other. This is the time where you can see him move fully into the skateboard / streetwear brands as his go-to. Airport photos also show him in ripped skinny jeans and his shirt of choice with a matching cap. he went onto say that he choose the clothes carefully, knowing a lot of people are looking even at him even at the Airport. 

It’s a stark contrast to how people see him in his Produce 101 mentorship stint. A common favorite among fans, every episode shows him in an interesting style. From the hair to his clothes and accessories -- He would always gain attention. You can ask any fan and they will definitely find it hard to rate all of his looks.  

notable brands he loves to wear ( either personally or at events) : off white, stussy, supreme, evisu, wasted youth etc. 

III. Rise to Fame

It’s 2019 and Yibo’s name is everywhere, not only in his home country but on international platforms. His transition to an Actor is finally complete. Keeping his other roles still intact but people noticed a few things missing. No earrings. Dark colored hair with no more highlights. However, his style during fan meets show him in very interesting pieces. Yibo’s airport style remains the same with his go-to streetwear brands but the slew of fans following him around definitely dampened the urge to stroll around the airport. 

His clothes on red carpets and fan meets were always on point. 

IV. The Black Panther

Wang Yibo established himself as a strong player in the entertainment industry with hard work an pure talent. At this point, everything he does and wears is going to be on display for everyone. There is little change to what he prefers to put on during his off time, predictably seen with his favorite brands. sometimes with loose pants on and signature hoodies. No more “instagram” style airport fashion photos as people gathering where he is became a security risk. He was sporting a military cut for his role in BAH most of the time but continued with his laid back style in TTXS episodes. 

A real treat for everyone was when he decided to be a Captain in SDOC3. Every weekend, fans were anticipating what style he was gonna wear. Yibo-official also posts photoshoots for every look/episode. This brought us back the highlights, eyeliners and a combination of street and idol look.

Also he can forget this situation with his pants! 

HIS STYLE QUIRKS

1. His love for personalized things- his love for one of a kind things is not a secret. from his limited edition Legos and shoes, him, wanting to put his names on things is not new. His collaboration with Evisu launched clothes that have his name on it and Audi even has special edition cars dedicated to him.

2. The earrings - He’s not been wearing one lately as he moved from the “idol” image to being an actor. However, it’s one of the most notable fashion accessory associated with him early on. In his Vogue Film cover last year he was wearing one for his role as a bartender. In an interview, he said he liked the earrings he was wearing.

3. Beekeeper hat - This actually went on trending as netizens did not get this type of style. In an interview, he explains that it is “hip hop style”. we don’t see him with this style anymore but it’s a notable one that gathered attention. 

4. Wearing caps  - Yibo’s signature accessory ever since, a combination of fashion and to keep his anonymity nowadays. What everyone really likes though is his 85 cap merchandise and hopefully, he release his own line soon. 

5. Skateboard - If there is anyone who can make holding a skateboard and having it with you all the time a fashion statement - then it’s Yibo. He is often seen carrying it in airport photos and using it on his breaks. As CHN’s ambassador for it, he truly represents the culture. Yibo is also known to influence the people he works with with trying to skateboards. 

BRANDS HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES.

1. Nike - The brand loves him and sends him stuff as their partner, but aside from the shoes--- he definitely influenced his fans in buying his white Nike bag that he always uses. More recently, he started using a black one instead. There is even a joke going around in weibo that people hate it when he wears a specific type of shoes they like, cause it ends up getting sold out.

2. VLONE- He truly is a trendsetter as he is the first artist in CHN who started wearing this brand. You can see him using it on his personal time as well as in some appearances. It’s a brand by one his favorite artist, Asap Rocky. like him, Asap is a style icon and in an interview said he does not shy way from wearing what he wants even if it’s against the norm ( wearing jeremy scott’s adidas collabs at the time that it was considered not masculine to do so.). The brand stands for “You live alone, you die alone” from this quote 👇🏻

3. PeaceMinusOne - Yibo is a fan of G-dragon and like everyone else, is excited and waiting for what he brings out next. He famously posted this brand’s collab on his social media platform twice. He was seen with a phone case from them. G-dragon goes onto say that this project is an extension of himself ; A utopia that we have not reached. He wants peace, but we are not there yet. These pairs of shoes are very hard to get especially since the competition are from celebrities, collectors and fans.

4. Chanel - Do I even need to explain this? He’s been wearing this brand on numerous events. not to mention his love for his chanel coco crush rings. His recent photoshoot for his single had him decked out in Chanel accessories. He started wearing the Chanel women’s blazers around 2019 and has been rocking it ever since. This just goes to show his unconventional approach in fashion & this is why the brand loves to work with him too. 

5. Palace - This is a London based skateboard and clothes shop that he frequently wears during his off days. Yibo is very into the skateboard culture & it’s a perfect fit for him. I cannot count the number of times I saw him wear this.

6. Rolex - I have a whole collection post about this but what he’s been sporting this from very early on. limited editions mostly. 

That’s it for now. This boy’s evolution in his style will continue. He will have more great fashion moments. More brands to collaborate with/ He is sure to bring something interesting every time and his one of a kind choices are always a hit.  ヽ(・∀・)ﾉ

More About Friendsim 2

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the response to this project, and now that our teaser is out and we’re moving into production I’d like to take a minute to say a little bit more about the project!

Who’s Involved?

Friendsim 2 is being produced by Studio June, an independent artists’ collective formed by a group of Homestuck fans and dedicated to creating meaningful, thoughtful content in a post-canon landscape.

Our core creative team consists of the following folks:

Jonaya Riley: Director/Narrative Director ( @transkanayamaryam​ ) A woman who’s written over a million words of Homestuck/Hiveswap-related fiction, including two Hiveswap novels. She’s currently the narrative director for Studio June’s post-canon visual novel, New Game Plus, and has worked on a number of other fan-projects, including the Pesterquest Fan Dub, the Will it Homestuck? podcast, and numerous other projects.

Bucky Grant: Art Director ( @thinglikerbucky ) A long-time Homestuck fan and content creator, Bucky has been involved in a wide range of fan projects. They’re the director for New Game Plus, main host of the Will it Homestuck? podcast, and are prolific writer, artist, and voice actor.

Anna: Voice Director ( @articulately-composed ) Another long-time fan creator, Anna has been heavily involved in the Homestuck music and voice acting scene, and has been responsible for projects such as the Time’s Apprentice musical, the Broadwaystuck 2020 panel, and countless comic dubs and other voice-acting projects. She was a writer for Distantquest, voice-actor for the Pesterquest fan dub, and much more!

In addition to the core team, we’ll be working with a number of writers, artists, musicians, and voice actors from throughout the Homestuck fandom.

When is this coming out?

The game will be released episodically, with the plan being to release the first two routes in the Spring of 2022, with new episodes releasing every few months after that until the game is all done!

What’s the plot?

I don’t want to get too spoiler-y, but the basic plot revolves around MSPA Reader heading back to Alternia to pick up all their friends from Friendsim and take them to safety.

That’s simple, right? Nothing could possibly go wrong with that... right?!

Will this have Xefros and Joey and all them?

No, this is a timeline where the events of Friendsim definitely did take place (which it seems that Hiveswap Act 1 and 2 is not) but Hiveswap Act 1 and 2 definitely did not happen. This will be important for reasons I won’t reveal because they’re major spoilers.

What kind of game is this?

Although this will be a visual novel similar to the original Friendsim in overall presentation, the narrative structure, writing, and stakes will be quite a bit different than the original game.

In addition to the main visual novel gameplay, we’ve got some fun surprises planned for the player!

What makes this special?

Not to brag (okay, maybe to brag just a little bit), but we’ve got some absolutely amazing writers and artists involved in this project. The work being done, even at this early stage, is really highlighting the love and dedication that our creators have for these characters and this world.

Outside of the basic “this is gonna be well-made” thing, we’re planning to introduce a number of things to the Friendsim formula to make a game that’s got some real depth to it.

We’re also planning to record full character voicing (that is, MSPAR and the narration will be un-voiced, but everyone else will talk)! Our team includes not only a voice director who’s written, produced, and recorded an entire Ancestor musical, but several Pesterquest dub voice actors and editors, and we really believe in the added immersion that good voice work can bring to a project.

So... “officially unofficial” what does that mean exactly?!

It means that this is absolutely, definitively not an official project! We have no connection to What Pumpkin or anyone affiliated with What Pumpkin - this project is being produced, written, developed, and financed entirely by the fans.

We’ll definitely be starting from the canon established by Friendsim and Pesterquest, but we’re not beholden to it!
