I mean I get that’s it’s not the only contributing factor, but I’m curious exactly how much of the shelter dog over-population problem is actually due to poor dog ownership/management vs the housing crisis and economical stress. I’d be willing to bet by investing in social programs that give people the resources they need to care for their pets (cough cough affordable and free housing cough cough) that the amount of pets in shelters would dramatically drop. We can all sit here pointing fingers and screaming at each other until we are blue in the face, but if the owners basic needs are not being met, how can we hold them to a basic standard for their pets?

hey! I see your posts about immigration, especially it being decreased under the new administration, and wonder what you feel the dangers are that immigrants pose?
Legal immigration? Very little. Illegal immigration? Tons. Rapes, murders, welfare fraud, terrorism (remember all these people being let across the border were, for the most part, released into the country unvetted and never tracked), increased gang acticity (MS-13, TdA, and other gangs are almost exclusively made up of and/or run by illegals) human trafficking (60% of the children that are brought into the country come with adults who aren't related to them. we have 400,000 children that came across the border that we lost track of and most of them, if they're still alive, are most likely being sex trafficked), slavery (I think it was two or three years ago that we found a bunch of illegals being used as slave labor on a farm in the US). And before you go "but that's happening to the illegals!", yes. Illegal immigration harms Americans and illegals alike. Illegals are mostly trafficked across the border by cartels. Their journeys here are perilous and women and children who make them are routinely subject to sexual abuse by the people trafficking them across the border. Oftentimes they get close to the border and are told, in addition to the thousands of dollars they already spent, they now owe thousands more. If they can't pay, they are either killed, sold into indentured servitude, or sold for sexual purposes.
There are also the economic factors to consider. Many illegals don't pay taxes and work for well below minimum wage. They send their money out of the country and into foreign hands, so that money never reenters the US economy the way citizens' money does. Every job held by an illegal is a job that won't be held by an American, increasing unemployment. And yes, Americans will very much "do those jobs" as long as they're being paid real wages.
And then there's the cultural factor of importing masses of people from foreign cultures that are largely incompatible with western liberal democratic cultures. Granted, we don't have as big of a problem with that as the Europeans do since South American and North American cultures have more in common than European and Middle Eastern, but the people who come here illegally aren't the cream of the crop where they come from. They're often uneducated, unskilled workers that immediately become a drain on our already overstrained welfare system.
I got to see the town next to the one I grew up in destroyed in real time over a period of about 15 years because of a mass influx of Guatemalan illegals. What was once a well off New York City suburb became almost a slum. Businesses closed. It wasn't safe to be out at night. The streets were teeming with unwashed masses that spit and pissed on the sidewalk. Violent crime went up. Vandalism went up. Drug dealers moved in. It got to the point where people would drive 30 minutes out of their way to catch a train so they didn't have to commute to the city using the train station in that town. There were some good people included with the trash, but even they were contributing to the problem. Me and my dad, before it got really bad, were at a restaurant (one that my dad had been going to since he was a child and that closed about a year after the owner retired and turned it over to the guy I'm about to talk about) and we were ten feet away from the Guatemalan bartender talking to a middle aged white couple about how they were going to smuggle the rest of his family into the country. They were talking about flying them up to Canada and crossing the border up there. This guy was nice and friendly, well dressed and clean. Our family was on a first name basis with him and he always talked with us when we went to eat there. But he was still paying people to bring in more illegals. And he wasn't ready to run a business. We moved out of NY before the restaurant closed, so I don't know what happened to him afterwards, but the town never recovered despite efforts over the years to revitalize it. You can't revitalize something when the people that live there don't care or don't know how to maintain a nice, American suburban town.
Illegal immigration, especially mass illegal immigration, helps no one. It only causes harm.

Opinion on the US's Cogs damn obsession with corn?
don't know what you're talking about specifically but my understanding of US agricultural policy in general is that being a farmer in capitalism sucks and has since colonization and for a long time the US government tried to make it suck less with subsidies which sometimes work (because people get paid predictably regardless of demand and its less like gambling with crops) but sometimes go over really badly (because then too many people grow it and the price per bushel goes down and then government has too much corn) and then a couple times they got rid of all the subsides and related regulations and that REALLY didnt work (because then the price just crashed hard and with nothing to compensate them a bunch of farmers, many of whom were in debt for other farming-related reasons, couldnt get paid and actually had to foreclose their farms, which accelerated the long-standing trend of farms getting foreclosed on and then being bought out by bigger farms that then ended up running INSANE multi million dollar operations, sometimes even on farms in other states where the owners do not live, in communities they do not contribute to) and they had to backpedal on it and then eventually they just started on the current system where you simply pass a farm bill every 10-12 years instead of yearly or biyearly and that way you simply dont have to think about it, and then when it is election time you go stand by a cornfield for a while for tv. it does not fix the huge enormous farms buying out smaller farms problem or any of the complicated related problems but it DOES put it off for longer which is more important.
sometimes also you (USAID for instance) can give the too-much-corn you have from farm subsidies to a foreign country as a 'gift' and say youre just being a helpful little guy, but in the process of doing so undercut the local farmers in that country because they cant compete with free stuff but that's cool because then the foreign country can't really survive as well without US agricultural aid and you can manipulate them to do imperialism better AND you have more demand for the corn which might raise the price per bushel in the US. also sometimes the corn is fed to livestock en masse because the meat is worth more and sometimes its made into gas or high fructose corn syrup, and sometimes the price is so low per bushel that the insurance on the field is worth more than the actual corn.
but. i CANNOT stress enough that the most important thing about corn is that you can stand next to it on tv and if you cant do that, maybe you can stand next to a guy who is around it a lot and say you are helping him.
in my relatively uneducated opinion the most epic way to solve this complex multi-century interdisciplinary push and pull of supply and demand would be to just pay farmers a salary through the state since youre already paying out massive state subsidies for crops you dont need anyway and the farmers are performing a vital service and that way you can guarantee people a consistent salary AND control how much of each thing gets planted so you dont have a massive stockpile at all times AND you reward individual people instead of paying out large amounts of money to whatever massive operation sells the most corn by virtue of being big, but if you dont want to do that then the second best thing is to just pass another mediocre farm bill whos inflexible 10-ish year lifespan makes it impossible for it to respond well to changes in market demand and that way you can just put off making tough decisions and instead stand next to a guy and a cornfield on tv again. which as we have covered is the most important part of american agriculture

Okay I’ve been brought up to speed on a bunch of stuff that’s been happening with close friends and I want to unpack it with what I experienced under this person. I’m not going to name them but they’ll find this and turn it into my fault somehow. Fuck off in advance.
I found a blog on tumblr dedicated to stopping the stigma and spread of misinformation around Dissociative Identity Disorder. I was really excited because all I’d experienced on tumblr surrounding the disorder I’d been diagnosed with had been conjecture and fantastical. It was genuinely refreshing.
This person advertised a discord server to get away from syscord and actually promote real information. I liked that and I supported it, so I joined. I lurked at first, but towards the end of its run I really started enjoying it, so much so that I overlooked a lot of problems with it and the owner.
I’d look in on arguments this person had with other members and would side with the owner, whether it was warranted or not. I was under the impression that this was someone diagnosed and in active treatment for their disorder, as well as significantly older than me. I really wanted this person to like me and I respected them a lot. (I would later find out that this person was freshly an adult, undiagnosed, and apparently used the server to validate self diagnosis while talking about how harmful it was on the misinformation blog).
I remember a few arguments in particular that rubbed me the wrong way. One was talking about the idea of transmisogyny. This person (transmasc) at one point claimed that the idea of categorizing a new type of misogyny was playing oppression Olympics in the trans community. They also claimed that they were oppressed as a transmasc who passed very well because women are scared of men. I don’t have a screenshot or proof for this, which I know means nothing. I’m also paraphrasing a lot. I would have had screenshots had the server not been deleted.
This person participated in a harmful bait blog pretending to be a 15 year old trafficking survivor in witness protection program. They went on to tell everyone in the server that no part of cult abuse or the like was real, and it was all RAMCOA nonsense. I believe that trauma exists, but that the wide spread conspiracy does not. For about two days, I made a similar bait blog. I’m saying this so it doesn’t get brought up as a “gotcha.” In this blog, I pretended to be several introjects from a video game I really like, and the owner’s bait blog would fake harass my bait blog for being anti-endogenic. It was the Zelda one, though I’m sure it was obscure enough that most people don’t remember it. It didn’t get much attention at all.
I deleted it very quickly because of the harm I realized I was causing. It made me feel gross. I wasn’t claiming anything extreme, but I didn’t like how it made me feel. I figured if the owner found so much joy in it, if I stuck with it long enough I could too. I didn’t, so I got rid of it.
But about the server nuking.
Earlier that day (day of server deletion) I’d vented in the server about how rough the day was for me with ptsd and flashbacks, and how I was struggling with my dissociative symptoms that day because of a particular trauma anniversary. This person sympathized and honestly made me feel better. I had let the server know that it was really hard for me to feel like anything was real at all and that I was struggling with unreality.
A few hours later there was an argument in the server around the term “functional multiplicity.” The argument was between the owner, who had only learned about the term “integrated functioning” a few hours prior (and was subsequently getting angry with everyone for being uneducated about it despite how recently they learned of that term) and someone who was relaying their own personal experiences with functional multiplicity as a way to heal from DID. Everyone in the server saw how heated it was getting and the owner wasn’t happy with everyone suggesting they take a step back and evaluate, especially since they had insisted the other party do the same thing. They deleted the server without warning.
I reached out to some people on tumblr that I knew from the server to reconnect and we made a backup server quickly to try to recalibrate after the argument. In the meantime, I dmed the former owner on tumblr to see if they were okay, because they seemed really emotional and upset.
They proceeded to tell me that I didn’t exist, none of what was going on was real, and everything would go away in a few hours. This was after the context of them comforting me and validating how dissociated I felt all day. I don’t know whether they were in an episode of psychosis or not, but I’m still hurt by what happened and I was still badly affected for about a week.
After the server was deleted, the new server tried to figure out what to do. In this time, one of the members was in contact with them to try to work something out between the group. I was a bit shaky from the unreality stuff but I was genuinely willing to hear them out. We were waiting for an apology from them.
I got a personal apology for the dm conversation, which I genuinely do appreciate. While I don’t completely dismiss everything as forgiven and forgotten, it went a very long way in helping me get to a place where I could see them as a friend again at some point.
The apology to the server was fine, I don’t remember much about it and I think everyone was alright with it for the most part.
What didn’t help was their continual stalking and spam liking of our blogs before that initial apology. That was weird and stressful and made the server feel super uneasy about them.
We all moved on after that. The server became a haven for me, and I felt and still feel like that group has my best interests at heart. If you guys are reading this, thank you for the support you’ve offered me despite how little we knew each other. It means more than you could ever know.
At some point I saw this person come back as pro endogenic, something that bothered me pretty intensely due to why I respected them in the first place. Nothing new happened besides the discord server being frustrated that they switched up so quickly after the fallout. It felt sudden.
I posted something to the endogenic community warning them to not believe everything they hear, especially after the bait blog and the misinformation blog were so heavily anti endogenic. I share these views, I am completely anti endo, but I sent a message out so that someone wouldn’t get caught in the crossfire like I did. They direct messaged me and asked me if my post was about them, and I chose to ignore it.
Not even two months after the discord server deletion and my dm conversation with them, they started another blog in which they frequently interacted and argued with friends of mine, claiming to be pro endo and partially endogenic. No one (at least I didn’t) realized it was them. None of us realized they were choosing to engage with us knowing our histories. Finding this out today has been alarming. I don’t look closely at blogs and side blogs, so I maybe could have caught this sooner, but it made me feel like my privacy was invaded. After deciding to leave us all behind after deleting the server and doing what they did to me, they decided to still engage with us without being forthcoming.
If you read this, which you likely will, since that blog of yours liked to argue with me, it feels so disingenuous and gross. I would have rather you told me.
The way this person treated @ratinacoat on this separate blog was also horrific, and considering that they weren’t forthcoming about all of this, it really comes off as stalking.
They are now turning around and acting like scary anti endogenics are harassing them. This is after they wanted to be systemcringe’s favorite “one of the good ones,” after getting rid of an entire server over semantics and then sending me into an unreality episode after I tried to help, after they continuously stalked and harassed one of my friends. I’m so grateful I only found out about this tangentially. I cannot imagine how my friends are feeling right now. This was disgusting.
So to every blog
To the original reblog main
To the misinformation blog I adored and became friends with you from
To the bait blog that was larping a trafficking victim
To coming around as pro-endo and pretending your friends are evil monsters.
To the half endo half trauma blog used to stalk and engage in syscourse with my friends without our knowledge
To whatever you’re doing claiming a victim mentality now
A massive fuck you.
-Prose
Adding a small edit:
I’m so disappointed that we couldn’t be friends. It’s embarrassing to say that but it’s true.

Hey!
I may be a terf, but a well mannered one, so here goes the pinned post :D
33 years old in fact but granny inside, neurotypical with little kwirks, 1 year of personal therapy, higher education, IT career, married, no children, post-ussr countries of origin and current residence.
Created this blog to write down thoughts I can't share in most of my pal groups because of obvious reasons.
Went a path from uneducated homophobe to bisexual radical feminist. There was a lot of mental work, so my position is well honed and isn't inherited from mainstream narrative. It would be so much easier to be woke and conforming, you can't even imagine.
My hot (not really) takes:
Woman is adult human female;
Radical feminism goes from "radix" — root, and the root of women's problems is patriarchy;
Sex is why women are opressed, gender is how women are opressed;
Gender reinforces gender stereotypes which hurt both sexes, thus we need to get rid of it;
TRAs show cult-like behavior;
Sex work is rape;
Abortion is human right;
Women's sport is females' sport;
Children can not consent to puberty blockers;
Transwomen breastfeeding is child abuse;
"Menstruator", "birthing person", "uterus owner", "cis-woman", "non man", "bonus hole" are insults;
"they/them" is horseshit;
"not all men" but somehow always a man.

Whatever you do don't think about young mid 20s Trent Crimm having been bullied so badly for being different and gay that he can't stand it anymore, shoves it all inside and marries a woman, tries to leave the gay life behind. And she loves him, but she doesn't know him at all, not the real him, and how can he risk losing her by telling her?
He grows more bitter and unsatisfied every day, and his articles show this. Soon, he becomes cruel- these athletes are strong and manly, it all comes so easy to them, people adore them, shower them with love, and then he goes home to an unhappy wife, and she's unhappy because of him, because he just can't make himself right, can't fit into this life, can't be who the world wants him to be.
So he tells her, and regrets the words as soon as they come out. But she chuckles, "Come on, Trent, you're not serious. I know we've been having some problems lately, but I love you, okay? We can work on it. We can be happy again." It's an out, an option to take the words back, and so he does. And they decide to work on their marriage. They decide to have a child.
And for the first few months, his daughter is all that matters, and he's happy. This precious human being, she deserves a good father, and he wants to be that for her, to give her a happy, united family. A mom and dad.
But the high highs are followed by lows lower than he's experienced in a long time. His wife's kisses leave him feeling hollow. His heart is weak and empty, and he yearns for something to make it beat again.
One day, when his wife is at the park with their daughter and he's reorganizing his closet, he stumbles upon the purple American shirt, the one he got from his summer boyfriend in university. His hands tremble as he picks it up, presses it against his nose. He hasn't washed it since. It still smells like him.
He sits at the edge of his bed and cries. He remembers his kisses, the days they'd spent together at camp; the nights, too. He longs to have them back, just for a moment. But then he remembers his father's face when he found out. He remembers what followed.
He has a family now, a responsibility. He's made his choices, and they're wise. His father invites him over for Christmas, congratulates him on his promotions, plays with his granddaughter. Respects him, despite his failures, his many mistakes.
He shoves the shirt back in the closet. He will keep thinking about it for a few days, but then he'll forget about it again.
He's had his job at the Independent for a few years, and he's grown a bit bored of it. But news come of a managerial change at AFC Richmond, and he knows it's about to get interesting. The new owner must be losing it after her very public divorce; why else would she hire a dumb hick from God-knows-where USA, who's never touched a real football in his life, to coach her Premier League team? This guy is uneducated, dumb, undeserving of this privilege. This guy is going down.
An interview is arranged, and he's the man for the job. He'll give the fans what they want. He'll eviscerate this clown in the papers. His boss will give him a pat on the back. His colleagues in the press room will look up at him with respect. His father will call him and they'll have a laugh about this clown together. Who does he think he is, to come all the way to England and take this job from someone who knows a damn thing about the sport?
But Coach Lasso is, to Trent's surprise, competent. He knows how to work with people. He wants Roy Kent to be a leader, and he knows what to do to get that result.
He's also kind, genuine, warm. He spends hours at the school, kicking a ball around with some kids. He stays there longer than any other coach would have. It's not just a tactic to come across as sympathetic in the article, to soften Trent's perception of him. He actually cares.
And then he invites him to dinner.
Trent is starving, of course. Hasn't eaten anything since his plain breakfast that morning. They walk to an upscale Indian restaurant. Interesting choice. He wonders why he picked this place, in particular. It all becomes clear when he introduces his friend Olly.
The food is too hot. He can't eat it. Curse his middle-aged stomach and his eating habits over the years. Now he can't even handle a bit of spice. And by the looks of it, neither can Ted, and yet, sweating profusely and gasping for air, he still eats both their meals. He can't embarrass Olly in front of his family, he says. He has to show his respect.
"To me, success is not about the wins and losses."
What a stupid thing to say, and twice in a day, no less. They were in his office hours ago when this dumb phrase last came out of his mouth, and Coach Lasso was getting changed, his shirt unbuttoned- but Trent can't think about that right now. The American just gave him exactly what he needed for the article- a reason to mock him.
"It's about helping these young fellas be the best versions of themselves on and off the field."
Oh, God. That's all he wants, to help these young men, and here Trent is, attempting to take him down. But this man doesn't want to destroy this club, he just wants to help. To help them get better. Most of all, that's why he's here.
Who has he become? The man in front of him has been nothing but generous, considering, inviting all day. Strike that, actually. Since he's arrived in London. And what has Trent done, besides being cruel to him? Hurting him? Bullying him?
"I really should go. Deadlines and all."
"Yeah, gotta do the work. I'll say this, though. I really enjoyed getting to spend this time with you, Trent".
And he actually means that.
He writes the article as soon as he gets home. He admits to himself how much he wants Ted to win. He probably won't, but he desperately hopes he will. Why shouldn't he? Why shouldn't a kind, good man like him prevail? Why was this world built for the Rupert Mannions and the George Cartricks of the world, and not for Ted Lasso? Why is Ted the one being called a wanker on national TV, in stadiums, on the street ?
Prove them wrong, Ted, please.
His wife and his daughter have already gone to sleep when he sends in the article. The apartment is dark, quiet, and a chilly breeze is coming in through the window that's been cracked open in the bedroom. He climbs into bed, careful not to disturb his wife. The rush of the interview has worn off, and he feels strangely at peace. He closes his eyes, allows himself to think about Ted in the office, getting changed. About his warm voice, about the gleam in his eyes in that Indian restaurant. About "What do you love?" and "I'm about to hallucinate from this heat here".
He thinks about that press room, about seeing him up there, in the light. He falls asleep to one certitude.
He can't wait to see Coach Lasso again.
oh anon now you have me thinking about it!! so much!! how are you gonna casually drop this absolute masterpiece in my ask box?? I don’t feel that I’m even deserving of this, it should be on ao3 or something??
The way you put all the little bits and pieces of backstory James Lance has given us together to paint this perfect image of season 1 Trent is so incredibly impressive to me. Like this is exactly how I picture his journey and you put it together perfectly.
The little bit about him finding the Ashland University shirt in his closet and yearning to have that young love back again, despite repressing himself so deeply all these years… so incredibly heartbreaking and beautiful.
And then Ted comes in and suddenly Trent remembers what it’s like to find real, true joy in what he does. For once he’s not garnering his satisfaction from putting other people down, and writing scathing pieces about them. Instead he finds himself smiling down at his screen as he sends that first article in, Ted’s kindness and compassion for others lingering in the back of his mind. Ted’s undying enthusiasm leaves him genuinely excited to see what comes next, makes him go against everything he’s ever conditioned himself towards. And he can’t let anyone else know, not yet, maybe not ever. But he holds the beginnings of this change close to his chest, while he decides what to do about it. While he waits to see if Ted Lasso really can succeed with kindness alone. Maybe if he can, it’s possible for Trent, too.
thank you for sending this piece of writing in anon! honored that you chose to share it with me. if you don’t write fic on ao3 already you should!! I’d love to read more of your thoughts/ideas.

starting January 1, owners of XL bully breeds will face restrictions on their ability to own their dog.
Owners will need to apply for an appeal to even keep their dog. This costs over 90£.
The dogs will need to be leashed and muzzled when in public. This includes cars.
Rehoming XL bullies will be illegal. This means that if you cannot keep your dog, it will be put down. And most likely every dog that qualifies as an XL bully in the shelters across the UK will be euthanized.
A bully is not a registered dog breed. It is a classification of dog that looks a certain way. Determining wether or not a dog is considered an XL bully is subjective because there are not breed size standards.
I do not live in the UK, but Im trying to spread awareness. This is not going to fix the problem. This is going to do nothing but increase the fear that uneducated people already have of these dogs. The problem is not the breed, it’s the owners. Place restrictions on people, not the dogs. And to anyone in the UK who’s dog is never again going to be able to play with another dog in the park, who can’t run freely through a field or swim around in a lake ever again, Im sorry.

sysmedicalism is an objectively pro psych stance. The fact that you're identifying as it is extremely disturbing, as a DID SYSTEM that has been harmed by the medical institution.
This post is highly related to this post, and I hope you'll read both. This was written first.
Mod Quill here, automatically done with this entire conversation about the term sysmed. Let’s just break this down.
This blog is pysch-critical. Because we believe psychology is beneficial and we are. In therapy. For our psychological problems. I’m not sure where you thought we were anti-psych? No false advertising here. Mod Dude is quite literally on all sides of psych; patient, trained SSW, proud DSM-bootlicker, you name it. The other mods are in similar positions. We can acknowledge the flaws of the medical system while also acknowledging the need for it. If you can’t, then you’re not going to like us.
Sysmed, as a term, means basically nothing at this point. Yes, it had a definition. No, the definition is not agreed upon. Until the Holy Pro-Endo Prophet who invented the damn word comes down from the heavens and announces what it actually meant, I’m going to continue to be a little bitch about a word that’s hurt me (and you can ID with it all you want). Fun fact, I actually don’t agree with Mod Dude using the label sysmed — I think he’ll reach a point eventually where he drops it in favor for some other label, or maybe no labels. But I also cannot bring myself to give a single solitary shit about it. Why would I? The word has as much meaning now as half the labels I see in system spaces. It’s not a useful word. I have literally never understood the desire to cling to it when it’s not ever used usefully. When is the last time someone actually used the term to *properly* critique the associations of the systems who feel plurality is medical to those who feel gender identity is medical, a flawed argument in of itself?
Lastly, I’m so sorry that the constant correlation between “CDD Focused” and “Sysmed” has made me and many others accept that we (DID systems) are sysmeds to you all. I’ve been told countless times that my beliefs are “sysmedical,” despite those beliefs being things that have nothing to do with medicalizing plurality. Dude is far further on the medical spectrum than I am, and yet I’ve been called a sysmed more times than I can count. Traumascum, too. Because I’m a CDD system speaking up for CDD systems.
Look. Anon. I’m sorry for what you’ve faced. I’m sorry you’ve been hurt by the medical system. That sucks.
It’s also not our fault, and something some of us have also experienced. It’s bold of you to think you’re unique in those struggles.
I hope you can find healing outside of the psych system, and that you can recover on your own, or else one day perhaps find solace within a medical system. Who knows?
The fact is, this blog has always been psych critical, and will continue to be. And that shouldn’t matter because the thing about this blog is, it has been and always will be dedicated to focusing on CDD systems. If that bothers people, there’s a million other blogs out there. May I suggest pokemon-cards-hourly?
---
Everyone getting in on this.
Mod Dude, here, OG blog owner
To reiterate, I am on both sides-- patient and clinician in the psych field (NOT LICENSED).
I really just want to pop in and say something myself.
I am psych-critical, and I always have been. I have had some terrible doctors. Fatphobia, transphobia, homophobia, ableism abound, and a large population of uneducated people parading as doctors. I was sanctioned once by a doctor who didn't like that I was gay. Yes, in Canada. It took the threat of legal action to get me released, and then they tried to purge my file and say I had never been admitted.
I've had more amazing, wonderful doctors that have gone and above and beyond to help me than bad ones, though. I want to be one of those doctors. I want to change the landscape of psychiatry to be what it SHOULD BE, not what it is now.
The psych system is a necessary evil, and I have a very complicated relationship to it as, eventually, my father will need to be forcibly confined and treated for his disease. The world will be very lucky if he doesn't kill someone before then.
I don't think it will always be evil, though. I don't think every case is evil. I don't honestly think a system is capable of being evil, only the people within the system and using it to further their own gain.
I feel for anyone who has been abused in the system, or that has suffered because of it.
I see anti-psych as giving up. Rather than fight for change, it's rejected entirely for talking points that are already available and need to be improved within themselves anyways.
I have HOPE for the FUTURE of the psych system, and can acknowledge its many current flaws while simultaneously engaging with and promoting its positive aspects and work, and by encouraging more people to get into the field and specialize. Releasing the backlog and increasing the number of specialists with lived experience that actually care is step number 1. I want to reduce the fear of stigma of engaging with the system.
I support the medicalization and treatment of systems that WANT to engage with psychiatry (hence sysmed). I support systems that have no desire to engage for simple reasons, or for no reason at all. I equally support and care for those who have been so hurt by it that they can't engage anymore. Those are real people with real stories. I hope that the things I post can help those that can't engage directly.
It's not the full picture, though. Hence "critical".
I have never WANTED or TRIED to force medicalization on anyone, and I never will. I can understand that in some cases it's not so black and white. But this may not be the space for you. Good luck elsewhere, genuinely ❤️
Also I'm going to follow Pokémon hourly now.

You know, I'm reminded of this from the BJD hobby, just generally.
You guys call it the noble savage trope, I call it people being infantilizing dumbasses. Hahaha... hah.
Anyway, the BJD hobby has had drama about Nazi BJD's. Full on outfits that could have been taken straight out of history. Long story short, yes there are some Nazi scum in the hobby, but most are in hiding because that shit doesn't fly, and most of the hobby is incredibly aggressive about this shit.
But guess what. A much bigger issues with the Nazi dolls is that there have been issues with a lot of it coming from the Asian side of the hobby, that includes are 3 Asian companies that sold full on Nazi dolls, one of them including a big fat flag in a photo-shoot reminiscent of the 3rd Reich flag. The company was actually recently mentioned, it's Ringdoll. There's also another company, where the owner made a doll that looking far too much like it was based around Nazi aesthetics, and when a Jewish person pointed out how the pictures, in combination with the hand gesture and the commentary under the picture was a really bad look, he blocked the Jewish follower instead. He used language like "The undesirables." and "Eradicating the entitled."* Doll was wearing a black uniform, red armband, and the half raised arm. Maybe separately people wouldn't have said anything, but the combination makes the poison.
*the entitled is his word for people who criticize the company in any way. Even when it's literally about a doll, $500+ coming with defects and other QC issues. Or even people who, during 2020 asked how their orders would be fulfilled... they got banned btw for asking that.
Anyway, the hobby has a pretty huge problem trying to excuse these things by playing "Let's pretend these Asian companies are too stupid and uneducated in history to know who the Nazi's were. Meanwhile we on our side of the hobby will bark at anyone who uses any symbolism that we can pretend might be offensive to some hypothetical person we can't prove exists."
It's not as common anymore, but you can still easily find Nazi, and I mean straight up actual Nazi recreations armband included, just doll sized, on some of the Asian doll markets. And dolls dressed up to look like Nazis presented in parts of the Asian hobby spaces.
It's honestly incredible to see how people twist and bend to justify why it's ok for a Chinese, Japanese or Korean company to create Nazi clothes, dolls whatever, but then in the same doll-group you'll have someone explain why any doll based on Viking aesthetics makes them assume the person is a white supermacist at heart who's one second away from going on a rampage.
This doesn't even cover the fact that for some reason some people from the Western hobby believe that it's the duty of the Western hobbyists to make sure you don't use offensive military Asian depictions, eg Japanese Imperial soldiers. Which they of course assume everyone knows about as well, because Westerners are definitely more educated. (I don't think I've ever actually seen such a doll in the wild either.) But for some reason the assumption of knowledge just can't be extended outside the Western borders, and we have to assume they just don't know.

What I say: I'm fine.
What I mean: did you know that coal miners had to lease their equipment from their employers? It was taken out of each paycheck. That men had to crawl and lay on their sides and attempt to swing a pick ax and then place dynamite to get to the coal and would light it hoping they had managed to get far enough away. Or that the mine owners rigged their carts that the miners put what was supposed to hold 2,000lbs of coal in a cart that actually held 2,500lbs but they only got paid for the 2,000. Or that their "pay" was essentially just script that was only good at the company store because the company owned the store, the houses, the people, the whole town. That if they were suspected of unionizing the Baldwin-Felts agents would come and evict whole families from their homes, forcing them to live in make shift tents that they would then burn to get them off the property. That they also black listed said miners to other companies so they couldn't get jobs. Or that majority of the Appalachian coal actually fueled the industrial revolution but people still looked down on the area bc the people were "poor and uneducated" but they failed to realize it was because of them that they had electricity and transportation. Or that people still blame this region for certain problems (i.e. Trump Hillary election) when we're still one of the poorest parts of America and theres still people that live in company towns in the year 2023 who die of black lung each year because even though there's a union overall the region is considered a "waste" by majority of politicians.

i saw a post recently that made me want to state my opinion on something.
i do not hate doodles. in fact, i would say i'm pro doodle. as long as the doodle is bred or acquired ethically, i have 0 problem with them existing.
obviously doodles can have problems much like many other breeds. many. most of them. but that doesn't mean they shouldn't exist! and uninformed/uneducated buyers will unfortunately always be a thing. it doesn't mean that whatever they're buying shouldn't exist.
i don't anymore, but i worked in the animal industry (pet retail, shelter, and veterinary) for about 3 years. i NEVER saw a doodle that was as awful as so many people paint them to be. i'm not saying they don't exist! just anecdotally, i interacted with plenty of doodles that were totally fine. not my cup of tea as far as dogs go, but non problematic. in fact, most of the nervy messes i can remember were purebreds (looking at you schnauzers). that does not mean i think that schnauzers should not exist or that we should witch hunt the people who breed or own them.
in my experience working in rescue, i very rarely saw any dogs that could've been a poodle mix (think curls or furnishings) - and when i did, they wouldn't last more than a day there before getting adopted. people like doodley dogs! i understand this may differ regionally, but where i'm located, we don't have an overpopulation problem of doodles. we DO have a very clear overpopulation of pitbulls and bully breed mixes.
but back to the point. people hate doodles for all sorts of reasons - they're designer dogs, they're a fad, they're bred for money, their coats are bad, etc etc. okay fine, you're entitled to that - but you CAN'T hate doodles for those reasons unless you also hate all the other breeds or mixes (sport mixes!!!) that fall under the above criteria as well. doodles aren't special. they're not different. they're just another type of dog and people like them. popularity isn't a sin. lots of breeds have had their time in the spotlight and yet their owners aren't verbally flogged for having them.
i'm pro rescue and adoption. i'm pro ethical breeding. i have a rescue mutt from a shelter and i have a purebred dog from a breeder. and i believe that doodles fill a niche in a lot of homes that other breeds don't. hence their popularity. if you hate doodles, i think you should really try to think deeply about WHY. like, i'll most likely never own a doodle because they're not what i want in a dog - and if you groomed them and thought they were always annoying and you dislike them - fine! but when you think that every single doodle is the scourge of the earth and people should be ashamed for owning them, you need to sit down and think about that, because chances are you've fallen prey to some sort of anti-doodle propaganda without truly examining the facts.

very long rant about horrible experience in a selfship discord below
Shoutout to the time (very recently) I joined a selfship server that did not advertise themselves as being fictionkin friendly in any way, no problem I thought. I join, mention that I'm fictionkin and wait to be allowed in. Apparently in my adhd "get things done as fast as possible" stupor I failed to notice that homestuck was a blacklisted media, and my display name was a reference. Again, no problem, I've been meaning to change it for a while and its only for f/os (of which no homestuck ones exist for me), so when the owner asked me I was honest in saying I didn't like it (at least not anymore) and I was just a person with a kin from it.
Now this guy was. Uneducated, to the extent they and everyone else in their server were going off the TIKTOK DEFINITION and as I would also soon find out were not very fond of Tumblr users (aka, the only people you should trust if ur uneducated) and asked me a bunch of questions, the obvious "do you like homestuck" and also what fictionkin meant. They then asked me ABOUT EQUIUS, to see if they'd "be comfortable with your (my) kin", like I would be mentioning a 13yr old I don't selfship with in a 16+ selfship server (people don't like that type where I come from, but that's besides the point)
I did not think this at the moment and just answered hoping to get it over with, they do not allow creepy or bigoted f/os which was the point of contention for be being this literal child I do not ship myself with. He is the equivalent of a douche going into a pride game on roblox, seeing a rainbow, going ew, and then immediately leaving
Eventually I was just like "this is what fictionkin is, feel free to not allow me access but this is what it is to me and just because I'm a character doesn't mean I like the media" and they let me in, the owner also added fictionkins to the exception list (which I thought was for f/o medias?? Dunno why that was looking back, I don't even get it for fictives like did you assume they liked their problematic sources, why do they get a pass for liking it I'm confused) and the server FLIPPED THEIR SHIT. Going off the kff meaning and not listening to reason, going "do what you want but EYE think it's a bad idea and I don't like it!" And then bringing up selfshipping being spiritual in some cases too and that's when I just left. Like no argument makes it better.
Spiritual selfshippers don't get a pass? I'm not selfshipping with this character because it's gross, don't like the media and have no reason to bring the kin up. Some selfshippers.... are spiritual or have spiritual ties? WHY DON'T YOU THINK FICTIONKINS ARE VALID THEN also WHY DO YOU THINK MY MAIN F/O IS MY MAIN F/O, GET REAL.
I also saw in a vent channel that they were being overly critical of who people selfshipped with (and again, kin), namely AM from that one thing I won't mention so it doesn't show up in searches for it. Buddy this is a horror selfship server, why are you hating on people for thinking a villain is hot, your bf is probably just like it but without the extinction of the human race in their list of crimes.
Then in another selfship server that is fictionkin friendly (run by one who's super cool too) and has both me and the owner in it, I saw the previous server's owner KINPOSTING AB9UT POKEMON WHEN I SCROLLED UP TO EARLY MESSAGES IN A CHAT, HOW ARE YOU AS A FICTIONKIN BY DEFINITION "UNEDUCATED"
Selfship discord, to phrase it like another selfshipping fictionkin did (thank you crow, you're never going to see this), is like 2020 kincord. And that says enough.

Traditional Hoodoo vs. "Marketeered" Hoodoo.
The culture and practice of Hoodoo was created by African Americans. Hoodoo includes reverence to ancestral spirits, animal sacrifice, herbal healing.
During the twentieth century, white drugstore owners and mail-order companies owned by white Americans changed what African Americans created into there own version and culture of what they think is hoodoo. The hoodoo that we see practiced outside the African American community is not the hoodoo created by African Americans in the south. It is called "marketeered" hoodoo. This fake version of hoodoo is a commercialized version or tourist hoodoo.
Hoodoo was modified by whites and replaced with their practices and tools. While traditional hoodoo may not be practiced in secret. Now this new hoodoo spread from southern African American community's into this product that's marketed on the internet.
There are a shit load of videos on the internet of people fabricating spells calling themselves Papa or Mama, root worker and others claiming to be experts on hoodoo and offering paid classes for the uneducated to writing books. As a result, people outside of the Southern African American community think this marketeered hoodoo is authentic Hoodoo. Like the Luck Mojo company.
Now people thinks that this new Hoodoo is just spells and tricks. That Hoodoo is all about how to hex people and candle spells for love and money etc. Which is a problem. For example, High John is a black man maybe or not from Africa enslaved in the United States whose spirit resides in this practice (not the root) is how the story goes.
But It's crazy how white americans replaced root workers in African American communities, and began putting an image of a white man on their High John the Conqueror product labels. As a result, some people do not know the African American folk hero High John the Conqueror is a black man and goes as far as changing the story.
This is takes away our spiritual beliefs and makes white spiritual merchants the authority on hoodoo.
Hoodoo should be examined from the Black American experience really southern black culture, and not from the fake crap that is found in books, online and published by people don't know the culture.
Like the people who built a big business in hoodoo and learn from books by Harry Hyatt. Now I'll tell ya those book are are mostly inaccurate and not complete.
Basically it's great to see anyone from any race who want to know about this practice and this culture. But learn the right way.

Inanimate objects aren’t a danger. It takes a person to pull a trigger or stab a knife. I don’t see anyone trying to ban spoons to save America from its obesity epidemic. Why? Big pharma would lose a bunch of money, AND it doesn’t work. It’s a heart issue not an implement issue. Banning guns is like banning responsible drivers because drunk drivers are at risk of dying from accidents. Makes no sense.
Tell me whose insurance is changing from gun ownership. It’s not. That’s a fear tactic for the uneducated. Gun owners aren’t the problem. The criminals are the problem.
Tumblr media
Gun are the problem. Always will be.

The Real Estate Management Concern Is Education And Learning
Capitalists seeking diversity have actually frequently counted on a rental residential or commercial property or a collection of rental buildings to even out and spread danger throughout their investment portfolios. As with any financial investment individuals need to think about all of the concerns, issues, as well as risks together with the prospective returns. However, a great deal of investors aren't familiar with the potential issues and do not put in the time to investigate these concerns before they close escrow. A building administration course and a training course in fundamental realty investment would certainly be terrific investments of time for someone considering rental residential or commercial properties as a resource of investment income and long-term investment. Some of the issues and problems are gone over below.
Unskilled Agents and also Uneducated Investors Make a Deadly Concoction
Rental property financiers often make use of the solutions of an unseasoned real estate professional that does not completely comprehend rental buildings, that does not completely recognize return on investment, https://upravlenienaimotibg.com and that does not completely comprehend what cap prices are. The majority of the moment these financiers just rely on their friend 'the realtor' or utilize any kind of real estate agent they recognize with or are comfortable with to buy these kinds of properties sad as that might appear.
The fact is most property representatives are not savvy adequate to understand rental properties, cap prices, return on money, roi, leveraged investing, and also the usual terms associated with financial investment residential or commercial properties. To compound this reality most capitalists initially are just as inexperienced as well as lack the correct experience to situate as well as acquire a high efficiency investment property. No person needs to look better than this concern: Why would an owner be marketing a high efficiency financial investment building? That inquiry must be the very first of lots of asked by both the agent and also the capitalist. One problem is that some financiers are so excited to enter a building they look beyond the fact as well as the numbers as well as just intend to get control of the property. Sometimes this is a flawed technique because a lot of representatives will certainly be reluctant to quit the eager buyer for fear of losing out on a healthy payment.
The Residential Or Commercial Property Management Profession is an Equalizer
After a capitalist has actually closed escrow, if the inexperience representative hasn't used to 'manage' the home for them, a lot of them determine to manage the property themselves (just certified property brokers can manage rental residential or commercial properties). When these innocent owners are confronted with the subtleties of Fair Real estate regulations, Equal Opportunity issues, civil liberties concerns, anti-discrimination issues, bad occupant screening issues, notification of default issues, eviction issues, as well as lastly collection concerns many times they turn to a professional residential or commercial property supervisor or residential property administration company to help save their sinking ship.
If rescued timely a specialist residential or commercial property manager can turn around a financial investment building and also help make the financier's decision pay rewards. With a skilled residential property supervisor the return on investment can really be recognized and the proprietor really can have time to delight in the financial investment, not dote on it or worry about it. The residential or commercial property monitoring firm will certainly look after the financial investment, the upkeep, the occupants and all of the concomitant concerns related to the building.
Residential Or Commercial Property Administration Education And Learning Program
Enlightening both inexperienced property representatives and beginner investment property owners about prudent residential property monitoring is essential for taking full advantage of the financier's return on investment. It is rare for an owner to efficiently handle their home or homes and also make the maximum possible return offered in that specific industry. The factor it is rare is due to the fact that the common manager-owner is not utilizing the most up to date and also best residential or commercial property monitoring strategies, software, evaluating procedures, as well as most importantly is not staying on par with the ever changing landlord-tenant laws. Each January there are a number of apparently ever significantly tenant-debtor favored laws established which most individuals are not knowledgeable about. When a brand-new law takes effect that is one more potential risk for the lone-ranger proprietor to go against and also wind up on the incorrect side of the complaint.
The excellent method around this potential problem is to work with a residential property management business to take care of as well as secure the owner's financial investment, and also most significantly make best use of the roi. Another method around this trouble is to have every owner take a residential or commercial property administration training course and also learn the occupation from scratch without experiencing the hard knocks of experiencing occupant problems very first hand.
Lastly, a proprietor might work with a home administration firm that in addition to all of the regular team additionally has a realty lawyer on team who can fix and respond to all of the legal questions that relatively end up front and also facility. This would certainly be a truly informed decision and a simple one for the proprietor to make.
