★ fc: madison beer ☆ pairing: stark!oc x max verstappen (current), poly!max verstappen x stark!oc x charles leclerc (future) ★ summary: evangeline "evie" stark has been the subject of headlines even before she was born, subjecting her to much scrutiny over the years. ever since she became a teenager, the media has always speculated on who she was dating, whether it be her long-time best friend/colleague peter parker, or fellow billionaire's child, harry osborn, or whoever they can connect evie with. frankly, it was a little disparaging considering that she's been in a relationship with one max verstappen since they were 15. however, once their relationship has been revealed, will their relationship stay the same, or does a certain monegasque ferrari driver have something to say about it? (spoiler alert: charles wants both of them, not just one) ☆ notes: to those of you who are familiar with my work, this is a reboot of one of my old series, (not) moving on. however, this series is not going to be like (not) moving on, as i've changed a lot of things about the series and what's coming up. so i hope you guys enjoy it!

Evie's phone buzzed, removing her attention from what she was working on to grab her phone quickly. She smiled at the sight of Max's text and texted back.

"Is that lover boy texting you? Do I have to revoke your phone privileges or can you refrain from making puppy dog eyes at it?" Tony teased his daughter, fully knowing what was taking her attention.

Evie looked up to see that both her dad and Peter were looking at her. Her dad with the smug look he always made when he had caught her doing something, and Peter with a clueless expression, looking like he didn't have any idea what the conversation was.

She rolled her eyes, sending a response to Max's text before putting her phone down. "I was not making puppy dog eyes. And for your information, it was Max," she said, going back to her laptop.

"Lover boy, Max, same person," Tony remarked.

"Who's Max?" Peter asked.

"Max is..." Evie trailed off, not knowing if Peter was even allowed to know.

Despite her and Max getting together only recently, they had readily agreed to keep their relationship a secret. Not because they were ashamed of it, never because of that (if it had been Max's choice, he would've told everyone he knew he was dating the Evie Stark, future CEO of Stark Industries) (and Evie would've been telling everyone she was dating the Max Verstappen, future F1 WDC).

It was because of the media, for the most part. They both knew how vicious news outlets and gossip columns were, considering they had a few stories come out about them and they didn't even do anything. Evie was familiar with being rumored to be in a relationship with every billionaire son who was in a close age range with her, so she had her fair share of rumors.

"Just tell the kid, he might be here for long enough to meet Max anyways," Tony shrugged.

Evie turned to Peter and said, "Whatever I'm about to tell you cannot leave this room,"

Peter quickly nodded and said, "I won't tell anyone,"

"I have a boyfriend," Evie said.

Peter blinked. "That's it?"

"Okay, I am so not loving the enthusiasm right now," she said.

"I mean, everyone gets boyfriends," Peter shrugged.

"I missed it when you were scared of me and thought I was going to terrorize you," Evie sighed.

"The rumors called you scary! I thought if I looked at you wrong, you were gonna yell at me!" Peter defended.

Evie rolled her eyes and said, "The only reason why I don't want a lot of people knowing is because he's a driver,"

"So what, he drives? I don't have my license yet but that's only 'cause we're in New York and who drives in New York besides Taxi Drivers and Business Men?"

Evie already felt a headache forming. "Not just a driver, a race car driver,"

"Like Dom Toretto? Is that why you're hiding your relationship, because he's older and illegally drives cars? Is he bald too?"

"What—no, Peter, I am dating someone that's our age and drives cars professionally and in no way illegal. And not bald!"

"Oh, who is he? Maybe I know him,"

"His name is Max Verstappen and I highly doubt you know him,"

"Verstappen? Isn't he that driver guy that drove for F1 and Mr Stark talked to him once?"

"Ha, I want you to refer to Jos as 'that driver guy' and see how he reacts," Tony cackled.

"It's not Jos, it's his son. And don't say that ever again, I do not want that insinuation in my mind," Evie gagged.

"Did you guys meet when Mr Stark's nearly died in Monaco?" Peter questioned, the relationship piquing his interest.

It wasn't every day you'd be able to hear the relationship details from someone as well-known as Evie Stark, especially since she had made him swear he wouldn't say anything. Also since a driver wasn't someone he expected Evie to be interested in. Peter thought that she would be dating a billionaire's son or the son of a superhero.

"We met when we were kids, actually. His dad knew mine, and I'm pretty sure Jos was trying to get on Dad's good side using me. But now I'm dating his son and he can't get rid of me so that backfired on him since he and Dad just bicker all the time whenever they see each other," she told him.

"You don't like him, Mr Stark?"

"More like I don't like how he treats his son sometimes, but that's neither here nor there. I just try to make sure the kid gets to be a kid with Evie sometimes," Tony said.

Peter was about to ask one more question, but Evie's phone started to buzz incessantly, indicating someone was calling her.

And based on how Evie's eyes lit up and how she smiled, Peter could only guess that it was Max. "Can I..." Evie trailed off, looking at her dad.

Tony rolled his eyes and said, "Go,"

Evie stood up from her chair and gave a brief hug to Tony and a wave to Peter then said, "Talk to you guys later!"

"You don't have to watch every race. The time difference is too much, especially here in Spain and you're in New York," Max spoke into the phone.

"Nonsense, if I don't watch every race, then I can't say that I'm the biggest Max Verstappen fan since day one, can I?" Evie replied.

Max smiled at that. Despite Evie regularly insisting she was the original Max Verstappen fan, he still couldn't get used to how much faith she had in him. At this point, it had been 4 to 5 years since he had asked her to be his girlfriend, and she still was so confident in his abilities to reach F1 that he had actually managed to achieve it.

Being together this long was impressive, especially since they were still young and long distance for the most part due to Max's career. But both of them were willing to make it work and put in the effort that was needed to keep the relationship strong. Like daily phone calls and text messages throughout the day helped them.

"Besides, I was already awake so I might as well stay up for a little longer to watch your race," Evie casually said, but Max knew better.

"Did you stay up late again? You know how messed up your sleep schedule is," he lightly scolded her.

Evie had a habit of staying up to work on projects, which she got from Tony. From what he knew, she mainly worked on her dad's Iron Man suits and Peter's Spider-Man suit. There were many sleepless nights Max had spent with Evie when he was over in New York, trying to convince Evie to go to sleep. Most of the time it worked, but other times, he resigned himself to staying up with Evie so she had someone to be with, even if she was focused on her project and wasn't very talkative.

"I'll go to sleep right after your race, promise," she said to appease him, which it kind of did (he would've preferred she sleeps now but he'll take what he can get).

"You wouldn't even miss anything, I probably won't even finish the race again with my luck," Max sighed.

He heard rustling from the other side and Max could just tell that Evie had sat up indignantly, ready to scold him. "Max, you can't say that!" she said, sounding angry at him on his behalf.

"Look, Schat, I'm just being realistic. It's a miracle if I even finish a race," he told her.

"That's not very future World Champion of you,"

"World Champions would finish races," he countered.

"Maxie, you're not gonna win anything—"

"Well, thanks for the words of encouragement,"

"If you let me finish, smartass, you'll hear me say you aren't gonna win anything with that mindset. And do you think that every World Champion is going to win automatically? It's a process, and you'll get better with time,"

"And how do you know?"

"Because you're Max Verstappen, and when you have your first WDC, I'll be the one beside you to tell you I told you so, and this time I'll be the Trophy Girlfriend," Evie teased.

guys, it's finally happening. annalations is back in session, with today's yap being about...

REGULUS BLACK IN MY DRs

yeah. it's THE regulus post. IM FINALLY DOING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

so far, reg is in five drs of mine: marauders (duh), f1, asoiaf, twilight (bear with me), and kingsman. today i will be detailing what he's like in those drs because i am lowkey very proud of myself for being creative and fitting him in as well as i can. and also i love him. BLEUUUUGH!!!!

the BASICS about him:

he's a leo. his birthday is august 7, and he's a little less than a year younger than me (COUGAR ALERT!!! 😱). the original reason he's an august baby is cause i refused to have him be more than a year younger than me in my marauders dr... but now it's kind of stuck, and he is like 100% a leo in my head. Well yes!

he is in fact half french and speaks it fluently

in every dr he's in, sirius is his brother. i am not being responsible for separating them (again...)

he is also always bffs with evan. i'm not separating them EITHER!!

i don't have a specific fc for him - no one fits my vision. timothée chalamet is probably the closest you can get, but there are several people who have an element of regulus to them, those being: elijah hewson, alain delon, and (occasionally) mark eydelshteyn.

HUGELY IMPORTANT!!! he has grey eyes and faint freckles on his nose. FIGHT ME IDGAF

and now... drum roll for... the JUICY STUFF!!!

we are both in seventh year...

he's the slytherin prefect and seeker. Yay.

i am also seeker on the gryffindor team. Bound to be total, utter joy competing against him

MY SPURNED MORTAL ENEMY!!!.............. unless?

we've known each other since we were 6 and 7 years old, and from that point on we were great friends

he was best friends with evan, and i was best friends with sirius, but despite that, him and i were really close, and had a much more... tame? vibe

(sirius and i were/are crazy)

this, however, was until fifth year when he randomly decided to dump me. in front of the whole school. on the quidditch pitch. after i won. Soooo cool!

this dr is very much still in the works (so bear with me me if some of this doesn't make exact sense), but i am quite proud of it...

i made house black an actual house of the north. their land, or territory that they control, is called the blacklands, and it's known for being a freaking horror movie

in this dr, sirius was a (very good but very slutty) knight who suspiciously went missing... (ran away to the free cities), leaving reg as the sole heir...

regulus black, now lord of his family and house after his father was taken ill, finds himself in a living nightmare – aligned with house bolton, complicit in the betrayal of the starks, and surrounded on all sides by stark allies

guess what. motherfucker gets kidnapped

for less than 12 hours though!

somehow the shittiest mormont bannermen are tasked with taking him (they obviously know that regulus has never held a sword in his LIFE)

lucky for him, i stumble upon him in a bit of a pickle, and decide to help him out. you know, being a knight of valour and justice and all that

guys it's nothing! really it's just a day in the life of the best knight in westeros (jaime lannister i'm gonna end u).

this little run-in basically puts us on a tedious road back to getting him to his family

hilarity ensues, and ends with me swearing allegiance to him and ONLY him. NOT his family. romance is in fact not dead and neither is my undying devotion

sirius also comes back from the dead after hearing about regulus being in trouble, which adds MORE drama to everything

because vampires are technically dead, as soon as he was turned, he lost all his magic, and all connection to the magical world. it was basically as if he never had any in the first place

once he was changed, he had to learn everything from the beginning, because he knew nothing about non-magical society

it also caused an identity crisis because he spent his whole life being told that his family was superior because they were "pureblooded" but none of it mattered in relation to magic because. DEATH IS THE GREAT EQUALIZER!!

he basically hid out in the scottish highlands for a couple decades, learning how to assimilate with society and act human

he also pretended to be his own descendant and has inherited his own house twice by doing it. (i think edward also does the same thing from memory...)

once again, this is sort of a crossover dr between slow horses and kingsman

before i was part of kingsman, i worked at mi5, alongside river cartwright (before he was put in slough house)

i was one of their top agents, and seriously well respected

at this point, i only knew regulus as evan's best friend, and a pretentious rich kid

that is until, on an assignment, i was following a target, and ran into him doing the exact same thing. we were following the same person, for the same reason. it was essentially that spiderman meme of us pointing at each other (with guns unfortunately)

anyways uhh the run in was not friendly and shots were in fact fired (HE WOULDN'T TELL ME WHY TF HE WAS THERE!!!!!!!)

after this incident, i was put on leave. like Fine but WTF

i was contacted by a man called will green (agent Gawain (DEV PATEL!!!)), who said he'd seen the footage of my run in with regulus, reviewed my record at mi5, and wanted to talk

WHAT FOOTAGE?! i was bewildered, but agreed to meet (i needed a job)

anyways, this was my induction into kingsman. he nominated me as a candidate for the position of agent viviane, and i passed all the trials with flying colours

December 28th 1906 saw the rail disaster at Elliott Junction, near Arbroath, killing 22.

About 3.30pm on the fateful day, a local train heading from Arbroath was struck from behind by a North British Railway train which was also heading south with its tender in front, the driver George Gourlay having decided to turn around the Edinburgh to Aberdeen express because snow was blocking the line north of Arbroath.

An earlier derailment had rendered the line down to a single track, though that information was not passed to Gourlay due to signal box problems which also affected the signals themselves.

Running as a special train intended to stop at all local stops between Arbroath and Dundee, the express caught up with the local train which had left Arbroath 10 minutes before, but had been forced to stop at Elliot Hill Junction because of a train ahead of it on the single line.

Gourlay would later claim he was unable to see the signals in the “danger” position and added that he was only driving at 12 to 14 mph – other witnesses said much quicker – when his train smashed into the local train.

In all some 22 people died, 15 passengers and seven staff including the local train guard. Passengers assisted in the rescue, helping to free injured people – eight were seriously injured and 16 suffered less serious injuries.

Liberal MP for Banffshire Alexander William Black was severely injured and he died the following day. He was 47-years-old. Gourlay suffered a head injury but some witnesses said they smelled drink on his breath.

Arbroath FC player Dev Cargill was one who rushed to the scene and he helped get injured people out of the wreckage, but in the severe cold he caught a chill and died a few days later. His death is not included in the final toll.

Major JW Pringle was appointed to lead a public inquiry and his report was published the next year. He was in no doubt that Gourlay was chiefly to blame but there were mitigating circumstances. The question was whether Gourlay drinking whisky had affected his driving ability.

Pringle wrote: “He [Gourlay] was accustomed to work his train from Arbroath to Dundee as an express, without stopping at an intermediate stations. It is possible that he did not fully understand the special instructions given to him on this occasion.

“Confusion of ideas or deadening of faculties may account for his conduct. The evidence suggests no cause for such confusion, or lack of alertness, other than the bemusing effects of either extreme cold, or of alcohol. The cold, admittedly severe, more especially in the unprotected position of tender first, could hardly, in so short a time as two or three minutes, have alone produced such a serious effect on a robust constitution.

“I have therefore, most reluctantly, been forced to accept the alternative, and give it as my opinion that the lack of intelligence, or of caution and alertness, displayed by driver Gourlay on this occasion were in part at all events induced by drink, the effects of which may possibly have been accentuated, after he left Arbroath, by exposure to weather.”

Gourlay was charged with culpable homicide, the initial charge sheet stating that he had “driven the train in a reckless and culpable manner, whereby it came into contact with another passenger train and killed a number of passengers”.

A jury at the High Court in Edinburgh found him guilty but recommended leniency and he was sentenced to five months imprisonment, reduced to three months on appeal after 92,000 people signed a petition to free him. The North British company defended their driver loyally and he returned to work for them.

Gwon Haneul, (fc: Yeo H.wanwoong), he/they, gay, a witch (has a human verse too) & a spy. If I am gonna give Nao a spy verse, then I am gonna give them someone to work with too bc I can. Haneul used to work alone, he preferred it that way, but after encountering the unfortunate situation Nao was in with their ex. Nao was a spy too, but thing took a wrong turn after meeting with Kiji. They did manage to escape, but had a lot of wounds that could kill them if they weren't treated asap. Fortunately for them Haneul happened to investigate Kiji and was aware of their setback. He took pity on them and helped them out for some time until they could go their separate ways and so Haneul wouldn't feel guilty for leaving Nao in the dirt. But as time passed, they grew fond of Nao and eventually agreed to form a team with them. Says he's an only child while actually having siblings as a safety percussion.

Luis Perez (fc: E.van M.ock), he/him, bisexual, a professional basketball player who had to quit playing due to an injury, now he helps out aspiring athletes with tips and whatever he can do. Is in a bit of a (messy) situationship with Jasmine.

Intira 'Jasmine' Kaeomani (fc: Anatchaya Suputhipong, aka Natty), she/her, bisexual, a personal stylist. Is in bit of a (messy) situationship with Luis (it started out as a publicity stunt).

Zig (fc: Kim B.ora) - she/him, lesbian, werewolf, mechanic working in the same repair shop as Chul. She's a rework of an old muse of mine. She used to grow up quick after she got abandoned by her family. At some point she found where they lived, but stopped herself from paying them a visit. Zig wondered why it all happened to her, but as time went on, she decided to stop thinking about it. After all, her parents probably didn't think as much about her as she did about them. So in the end she got used to living on her own. Her working in Chul's repair shop was completely coincidental. After she got fired from her last job as a waitress she needed to find a new job quickly and Chul needed someone who could take over the shop when he couldn't be around. Thankfully Zig had some prior knowledge when it came to cars and motorcycles, the rest she learned on the move as she's the type to learn quick, she had no choice but to learn fast all her life.

Andrea Wells (fc: M.ikey M.adison), she/her, questioning, a secretary at day, a comedian at night, also runs a popular faceless blog where she puts some interesting things for those willing to pay, would honestly give up her job as a secretary in a heartbeat if she had that option

Saeki Kiyomi (fc: H.ashimoto K.anna/K.utsuna Sh.iori), slightly inspired by the game MiSide, DKDKLC, or any similar games where one of the characters of a video game seems to have gained consciousness and has tried to gain consciousness (especially that looks innocent on the surface at first but is much darker once you get into the thick of it and there's a bit of fourth wall breaking), and also slight insiration from the webtoons S.urving R.omance and Z.omgan. There were so many stories about normal people transporting to another much different world than theirs, a world that no normal human would believe actually exists. If they were true, then was it possible for those same characters from the stories to be transported into the world of the humans? Kiyomi didn't even think about that at first. She wasn't programmed to think about that at first. She was supposed to be your traditional love interest of the main character in any video game, a character without much depth usually. But one day something happened. A glitch, perhaps. Something that slipped through the developer's eyes and started to corrupt the files. By the time they have noticed, it have already been too late. That is when Kiyomi saw beyond the wall. She saw who the real player was. She realized that most likely she wasn't their top priority. That in her current form they would never have their true happily ever after. Who knows, the player could find someone else, someone real and abandon her. So then, when nobody was watching, she began her biggest experiment, the first thing that she did and that she wasn't hard-wired to try to do. It starter with the first player, the experiment continued with the second, and the third, and so on. One could never guess the darkness that was brewing in a game that was supposed to be just for fun. As people from the real world started to disappear, the police began to suspect that there's a serial murderer on the rise. But they couldn't find a lead that could lead them to a suspect, nobody questioned the fact that there was one thing connecting all of the victims - that they all had that same dating game app on their devices and the last thing they had opened was that same app. What? They went into the screen? That's too silly, unbelievable. There was nothing that could make the developer of the game a suspect either. So the cases quickly went cold. As for Love Bytes, the game all of the missing people turned out to be playing, while the game became quite popular, with people making their own urban legend of some sort connected to it that everybody who plays it will enter the world of the game and would never return, something else managed to get out. Kiyomi who managed to learn quite a bit through her experiments created a copy of herself in the game while she herself managed to transport into the world of the humans. Now she can go back and forth through both worlds, though the world of the humans is always more interesting to her. But one thing never changed. She never managed to overwrite her desire to find her true love, no matter what she must do to have the one she wants. (please keep in mind that this character takes on some yandere personality traits and there would be possible themes of stalking, violence and torture with her. You can proceed interacting with her with caution). In the human world, she's working as an accountant in a big company. Bostonian transplant when he and his sister were ten, they were present in town and old enough to remember what happened to Duncan Farley, only a year after their arrival. He had his own theories about what happened, but he was a child- he never spoke or acted on them.

Fell in with a rougher crowd in his late teens and early 20s, familial loyalty to a local biker gang led to Tilt becoming a runner and mechanic at only 15, initially just to get himself out of the trailer park they’d moved into.

He flourished in the art of violence and misleading others, and from 19 to 27, he was a prominent member of the gang, regularly running drugs and guns and building an impressive rap sheet until a bike accident late one night on a twisted, rain-slicked backroad nearly took his life.

After a couple years of recovery, largely only supported by his twin sister, after their single father’s death, Tilt found himself capable enough to reintegrate into society- but no longer the ferocious young man he had once been. He took a job at the Fun Palace as the mechanic, somewhere he adored from his youth, and put his general technical skills to good use keeping everything running- so well that when the owner retired when Tilt was 29, he was offered the opportunity to take over and buy the place out.

He spends most of his time now at the Fun Palace, and has a near-encyclopedic knowledge about arcade machines from the 80s to present day, and despite still requiring the presence of a carer in his day-to-day because of periodic seizures, Tilt Ward has quickly become a well-loved member of the boardwalk’s ‘regulars’.

Incredibly jovial with a kind word for everyone, Tilt is also a regular handyman, willing to use his technical and mechanical knowledge to fix things up for others, like cameras, TVs, Cars, and old equipment.

He doesn't talk much about his past as a biker, as many of those memories were lost in his accident, including much of the way he used to pressure, extort, and threaten the people of Greenview in the name of his former crew.

He has an open door policy for the young folks around town to come by the Ward place for anything- dinner, a couch to crash on, or a listening ear, and with his memory issues and general inability to really muster up judgement, many college students tend to take him up on this.

He has a quick alert button on his person at all time that notifies his sister Amelia and a handful of other trusted parties when he thinks he feels a seizure coming on, and this has allowed him to live somewhat free of a constant handler.

Capra is the youngest of two (technically three, though like their older brother, Scorpio, is not aware of having a half sister)

Like their father, Scorpio left, leaving Capra with the belief that one more person in his life had ultimately chosen something or someone else over him (and his mom).

Capra started acting out. Getting into fights at school, shoplifting from the local stores, etc.

His mom eventually started picking up extra shifts at work and even a second job on the weekends to be able to pay the bills and keep food on the table. Sometimes even making excuses that she wasn't hungry when they were in between checks and she hasn't been able to make it to the grocery store.

At 15 Capra ran away under the impression that if his mom didn't have him to worry about that maybe things would be better and easier for her. She wouldn't have to spend so much time and effort and money into taking care of him.

This lasted for a few months when Capra was picked up by the police on accounts of larceny and assault after getting caught shoplifting from a store in the upper district and getting into a physical altercation with the security guard that was there.

After getting out of the juvenile detention center he moved back home until graduating (winding up getting held back a year because of everything)

He did continue shoplifting and stealing from people, though sticking to the middle and lower districts where the police were less likely to care.

Atlas was born with the weight of his families legacy on his shoulder. The oldest of the two Briarwood siblings, Atlas would take over both their father's large horse breeding operation and the Briarwood family mob, an irish mob well established for generations both in ireland and America. as soon as he could walk, his father had him in the saddle, learning how to ride and care for horses, training him and them for competitions in both show jumping and dressage. their family had a specific bond with horses that seemed unnatural, a skill that dated back generations, yet the siblings seemed to embody it more than anyone.

In between training horses and training himself for the ring, he spent time with his father in his work, learning what he could about both sides of the business. when they were old enough, the siblings came to the agreement with their father that Atlas would head the family for the mob business directly, and Ari would handle the more discreet side wove into their competitions and the horse breeding / training. a double edged sword that would gaurantee a better functioning machine while both siblings still competed in competitions as they saw fit.

when Atlas was 15, he caught one of the trainers making his sister uncomfortable and making unwanted advances. he launched himself at the man but despite having surprise on his side, he was quickly subdued and held to the floor. the trainer struck a deal with him, that he'd focus his attention of Atlas, rather than Ari, and leave her alone completely. or he'd kill Atlas here, blame it on accident and then do as he wanted with his sister. Atlas agreed, and little did he know that a deal of the same kind was made towards his sister. neither spoke of it until much later.

Atlas found himself spending more time alone with one of their family's prized studs, and his competition horse, in the late hours of the night. it was there that a few men broke into the barn and tried to kill him, and the horse. the trainer it seemed, sold them out to the Vitorri family, who sent their own kill squad after the heir. the men beat him, taking a riding crop to his face, back, arms, and hands while another tried to inject something into the stallions neck, however both boy and horse fought enough to create a disturbance at the barn, and the dogs to start howling alerting those that something was wrong. during the small moment of hesitation, Atlas managed to grab a lead rope and strangle one of his attackers as the others fled. his father soon found him covered in blood and sent men after those that ran. unfortunately, they had succeeded in part of their mission, as the stallion did not make it through the night, Atlas feeling a pain sharp in his chest as it breathed its final breath.

it was played off as a riding accident, that the marks now on his body were from a fall into barbed wire, though the only things that scarred was a whip crack on his lower lip, and above his right eye. during his recovery time, he spent more time with his father and in fact headed some business deals on his own, growing more into the role he'd been raised for.

Atlas is older now, wiser, and has come into his own in both competition wise, and his place in the criminal underworld.

He is VERY particular about routine and is an extremely clean and organized person.  It is common to see him with a cup of coffee which he really should not be drinking due to his heart condition, but if he is sleeping then he is not reading.  However, even when he sleeps, he maintains lucidity, relives memories and reviews information while dreaming.  He is able to recall every second of his life since the moment of his birth.  Because he is so transfixed on studying, he often forgets to eat and will only grab a quick bite when he remembers or just so he does not take his medicine on an empty stomach.  He is insanely efficient with regard to research and finding the desired answers, practically a living Google search engine.  Physically, his health is tragically fragile, but he is extremely resourceful.

Adelheid Halvorsen was hiking with her sister Marta to see the Northern Lights, celebrating her recent retirement.  In the still of the Wednesday night, amid the silence of the cold, neither expected to hear the squawking of ravens.  They scrambled in the dark to find the lifeless body of what had once been a beautiful woman, her throat slit and eyes being plucked out by two large, black birds.  Beside her, an infant barely even clothed with a blood-stained blanket was almost as pale as the snow upon which he had fallen, still and silent.  While Marta shooed away the ravens and checked the woman for a pulse, Adelheid gathered the baby and examined him.  Finding him to be alive and the mother dead, the siblings rushed to the nearest town for medical assistance and police were dispatched to the scene.  It was a miracle the newborn was alive–not just from surviving cold exposure within hours of his birth, but also he had been born with a hole in his heart which prompted a prolonged admission to the NICU.  Upon discovering the mother’s identity, her own parents underwent a gruesome investigation.  They confessed their daughter had not wanted the child and had tried everything to rid herself of the fetus.  When the baby was born, she wanted nothing to do with it yet did not want to be tied to it in any way; if she could not kill the child, then she would let nature do it for her and leave the newborn in the freezing canyon to die.  Her killer, however, was never caught.

Never had she expected that in her retirement she would become a mother, but after learning the newborn’s own grandparents were despicable monsters themselves, Adelheid offered to adopt the boy after having no children of her own.  She named him Vitas, meaning “life-giving”.  Vitas was a very quiet and withdrawn child which was often attributed to his physical ailment, having undergone several operations as an infant.  Before the age of three, it was apparent to Adelheid that she had a prodigy on her hands because Vitas learned things at a frighteningly fast pace and was fiercely independent.  She likened living with him to having a very intelligent but finicky cat for a roommate.  While others were often unnerved by his presence and despite his biological grandparents insisting he was an abomination, Adelheid still loved him and reminded Vitas of this each night.  It was important to her that he understood he was loved–because a monster was not a monster when it was loved.  He could read, speak in full sentences, and had a nearly breathtaking knack for writing exquisite poetry for someone so young; in fact, he seemed wise far beyond his years and remembered everything with astounding accuracy.  Adelheid discovered fairly early on that the boy could not see out of his left eye which doctors attributed to a blockage in the vessels they had missed during one of his many procedures.  Due to his physical limitations, he spent most of his time indoors with his nose buried in a book.  However, she also noticed he did not have interest in playing with her grandnieces and grandnephews his own age.  He had no interest in making friends at school or on the playground, more interested in playing Chess and Go with the old men at the park or frequenting the library; but the only company he truly cared about was Adelheid.  She was the only person who mattered in his world. 

And then she was gone.  At the age of ten, Vitas woke to find Adelheid unresponsive on the bathroom floor.  She had been so concerned about his health that she had neglected her own warning signs, thinking the pressure in her chest was just heartburn.  Despite his best efforts with chest compressions, Vitas and the paramedics were unable to revive her.  After the frail boy over-exerted himself trying to save Adelheid, Vitas himself suffered a cardiac episode that landed him another extended hospital stay.  He blamed himself for Adelheid’s death–if he hadn’t been asleep, then he would have seen the signs, could have caught it early, could have saved her.  Suddenly, there was no one left to love him, no one left to tell Vitas that he was not a monster.  His grandparents still wanted nothing to do with him.  Marta took custody of Vitas, but was deeply unnerved by the boy’s closed-off demeanor and struggled to connect with him, especially since she was very outgoing and enjoyed her social life as well as time with her own children and grandchildren.  Vitas became more like a shadow of a person and she often forgot he was there due to his quiet and independent nature.

Marta barely noticed that Vitas learned languages quickly; his excuse was that he wanted to learn everything and he could not do that if he did not understand the language the information was in.  When his teachers began suggesting to Marta that he skip grades due to his intelligence, she finally took note of him.  He became more of a commodity to her, just a way to get attention from people by bragging about his academic accomplishments, but she still treated him more as an obligatory guest than family.  He graduated high school at the age of twelve and was accepted to Bifröst University to study linguistics.  However, as a minor, he required a legal guardian and Marta was unwilling to move but also unwilling to part with the accolades that came with having a young genius, so her son took physical custody of the boy while Marta remained his official guardian.  Her son, Jakoby, was not a pleasant person.  He did not like how Vitas always corrected him and called out his blatant lies; he didn’t like how Vitas never laughed or showed any emotion; he didn’t like how Vitas required so much medical maintenance; he didn’t like that his mother was more interested in Vitas’s accomplishments than his own; but he DID like how pretty Vitas was.  And with how weak the boy was, it wasn’t like he could fight against the assaults of a full grown man.

Until he did fight back.  The first night, he was a victim.  The second night, he studied.  The third night, it was his turn to teach Jakoby a lesson.  After inducing a cardiac episode at school, he stole ketamine from the hospital along with other supplies including a scalpel which he snuck out in his backpack.  He made a quick stop at the grocery for other ingredients and returned home.  That evening, Jakoby wondered why the kitchen floor was covered in plastic tarps just as he felt the sharp prick of a needle in his thigh.  He fell to the floor, still conscious but paralyzed and unable to speak.  Vitas had no expression on his face as he flipped the man over, removed his clothes, and proceeded to castrate him with surgical precision, coldly describing every cut along the way with a heartless monotone.  Feeling the man’s blood oozing onto his hands had been the first time those fingers had felt warm since before Adelheid’s death.  Once he had sutured the wounds, he taped Jakoby’s wrists and legs together and nonchalantly prepared a pot of dumplings out of his minced genitals which he then proceeded to feed to his tearful and fearful abuser once the sedative had worn off.  Vitas informed Jakoby that if he ever told anyone what had happened, if he ever touched Vitas again, then Vitas would kill him, that Vitas already had complete access to his bank accounts, his emails, knew enough about his work and work relationships to imitate him without anyone being the wiser.  His studies and adolescence continued without further incident from Jakoby, who now feared the little monster under his roof and could tell no one.

Once graduating with a Bachelor’s in Linguistics at the age of fourteen, Vitas continued his education to obtain his Master’s and ultimately his Doctorate, graduating summa cum laude at the age of 21.  Because of his fluency in several languages, the university hired him as a translator, putting him to work not just with classes traveling to other countries, but also with upgrading their website to multiple languages in order to reach a broader variety of students outside of Iceland; he even taught English to several business professors and did some private tutoring on the side for other languages.  While he was at it, might as well digitalize the entire university library and learn computer code for fun.  Who knew hacking would be so easy?  And boring, honestly.  But what he found to be most satisfying as well as lucrative was selling information.  People wanted to know very personal and private details that may be difficult to obtain, but Vitas rose to the challenge and excelled.  Studying international law would be beneficial, too, so that was next on his list.  Several successful predictions regarding financial investments landed him quite the substantial albeit secret wealth that he merely used to fund further research.  While accompanying a class to serve as translator in South Korea, Vitas noticed a pair of large ravens nearly everywhere he went.  Despite having been born only hours before their first meeting, he recognized the pair immediately, recalled the night he had been found in the canyon, recalled how it had been their talons that had slashed his mother’s throat, had been the ones to draw Adelheid near to find him.  Once the class had boarded the plane to return to Iceland, he noticed the ravens still on the wing of the craft and took it as a sign.  He excused himself, took his luggage, and followed the birds to a bridge.  That bridge led him to Mount Phoenix and ultimately the truth behind his heritage when the ravens, Huginn and Muninn, told him the identity of his father and Vitas found a new home as well as an opportunity to learn from the gods themselves.

anu's  the  eldest  of  the  rai  family  and  she  helped  raise  her  siblings  from  a  young  age  as  both  of  her  parents  worked  a  lot.  in  my  head,  anu  and  her  siblings  were  really  close,  even  when  she  moved  away  for  college  but  there  probably  was  some  resentment  and  maybe  her  sibling  ( possibly  the  youngest  one  depending  on  how  old  your  character  is )  didn't  quite  understand  why  she  moved  so  far  away  for  college  and  felt  rather  abandoned.  then  after  the  virus  outbreak,  anu  went  off  the  grid  and  though  utp,  i  imagined  that  her  sibling  had  to  deal  with  it  by  themselves,  possibly  having  to  watch  their  parents  succumb  to  the  virus  and  try  to  survive  even  though  they  were  basically  a  child  at  the  time.  so  when  they  finally  reconnect  with  anu,  there's  a  lot  of  complicated  feelings  because  they're  bitter  but  also  relieved  at  the  same  time.  they're  still  trying  to  mend  their  relationship  now  but  it'll  never  be  the  same  as  it  was  before  and  anu  feels  so  guilty  that  they  had  to  go  through  it  all  alone.
