A design gift for my friend @nanogrem based on an orange dream ball python! :]

I had a lot of fun with the pattern design for this guy, those natural markings are something that I live for in designs and I haven't been able to draw something with that aesthetic in a little bit so it made my brain quite happy!

Not too much to yap about for this piece as this was just something on the smaller side to warm my muscles back up since I've been addicted to Final Fantasy XIV, which you will no doubt see art of in the near future...

This is Arthur. He is a baby boy!!!!! Just a little man. Actually tho hes my second child, a 4 year old Ball Python. His morphs are Orange Dream and Spider. My personal favorite mirph for ball pythons is Pied Ball Pythons

This is a Super Orange Dream Enchi pied ball! It’s also 66% percent Het Ultramel Pied Ball Python and het hypo. the hypo gene is basically for white, but since it is ‘Het’, that means it will not show through in the snake itself and if yoh want to see that gene you have to breed that snake to either another het hypo ball python, OR a hypo ball python

The pied morph basically gets rid of splotches in the snakes pattern, thus making it Pied! it’s a beautiful morph and is literally my favorite morph for a ball python!

this is a Mahogany Black Pastel Paradox pied ball python, this has to be one of my favorite color morphs for the Pied morph! it’s so pretty and UGHHH i love it

1. Are you named after anyone? ... unfortunately yes. queen elizabeth. my mum's family has been naming their kids that way for like 3 generations and the name aside from that has a lot of importance to me so i kept it

2. When was the last time you cried? i don't know, probably last week?

3. Do you have kids? no but i consider my pets my children (not in the annoying "i know what parenthood is like! i have a dog" thing but bc i love them very very much and i feel strongly like a mum to them etc)

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? not super i think?? i mostly tag along if someone uses sarcasm but i sometimes do myself. i prefer when sarcasm is either obvious in that it's suuuuper clearly exaggerated or when it's just completely nonsensical and probably only funny to me so i dont do it much organically

5. What sports do you play/have played? i never like, got on a team for anything, or did anything outside of gym glass, but i liked badminton. oh and in grade 4 i went to my school district's like cross country running thingy and i got in 101st place. one of the only non seizure/basically toxic shock syndrome related times i've fainted was next year's tryouts when it was too hot with a jacket but too cold without and i ran with a jacket on. oh and um i've played bloodbowl a couple times but also was never in a league but like i was gonna be

I DO i love to talk about them. lentug is my beautiful snake daughter, she is a ball python, she is about a year old now but i celebrate my pets' birthdays as the day i got them and it hasnt been that long yet. shes so sweet and loves getting water poured on her and shes SUCH a good eater. then theres gawi, my precious guinea pig daughter who is a sweet little angel baby with me and licks instead of biting and has Big Feelings and Issues and Particularities but she is a bully to the others just a little bit. then dr pepper, who just turned a year old recently also and is a weird little freak of a guinea pig. she's a himalayan rex so she's albino, colorpoint, and has weird curly/frizzy fur and she bites to maim and she's SO fucking tiny even though she was the biggest of the litter and from two of the biggest guinea pig breeds. then there's my new little beasts: bobo, my old lady guinea pig who is all rumpled and so sweet and soft and loves her cuddly houses, and caramel, my even weirder freak naked beast of a guinea pig, whose ears slap when she shakes her head.

Dream job? if i could publish my books and get like crazy famous without having to jeopardize my odsp til i'm solidly able to keep myself afloat for the indefinite future/at least longer than a few months so i can get back on odsp if needed... and i can use my money to travel across north america to write about weird little towns in different places... and to other places in the world to try all sorts of regional fruits and vegetables and snacks and do youtube videos about them. yeah that's it

Astrid chewed her lip and clenched and unclenched her hands, rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet. She looked like she couldn’t decide between staying and bolting.

I, on the other hand, had completely forgotten how to breathe. I just stood there, staring at my wonderful girlfriend of three years. I could feel the orange juice start to overflow from my cup as I stood frozen mid-pour but it felt so far away.

“…what?”

She swallowed, hard, “I…I’m a wyrm…”

“A…wyrm…like…like a dragon?”

“Technically, a wyrm is closer to a serpent than a dragon. We don’t have wings or limbs in our true form,” she said automatically then winced, “But, uh…yeah.”

I blinked and slowly set the now empty jug on the counter. I was vaguely aware of the juice dripping off the counter onto the floor but I couldn’t find it in myself to care at that moment. “Uh, sweetheart, I…I love you but…”

“You don’t believe me,” she said simply.

I didn’t know how to respond. What was I supposed to say?! Were it anyone else, I’d say they were crazy but this was Astrid. And by the look in her eyes, I almost wanted to believe her.

Astrid glanced around our kitchen, like she half expected some ninja to pop out of our toaster, then rolled up her sweater sleeve, holding her forearm out to me. Nothing happened for a second then her skin warped, like how heat from a campfire makes its surroundings distort, and then there were…

“Scales?” I breathed, staring at the deep green scales that now ran up the inside of my apparently not-human girlfriend’s forearm. I blinked once. Twice. Three times.

Nope. Still there. This was either the most lucid dream I’d ever had in my life or…

I slowly reached over and ran my finger down the length of the scales. Astrid’s breath hitched but she didn’t pull away. The scales were smooth. And warm. But definitely real.

“I should have told you before,” she almost whispered while I continued inspecting her arm then everything tumbled out, “I should have told you when you asked me out. I was just…I was just so scared. I’ve never let anyone get this close before. My parents always drilled it into my head that I needed to keep myself at arm’s length from everyone. I couldn’t let anyone close in case they figured out what I was. But with you…it was so…easy. You made me feel so safe and at ease and then you asked me out and I was so happy. Then I remembered and I was so scared. I didn’t want to lose you. I didn’t want you to be afraid of me. So, I just…didn’t tell you. But I love you so much and you don’t deserve that. You deserve the truth. I’m so sorry, I—”

“Show me.”

Astrid blinked, “Show…show you?”

“Your true form,” I clarified and looked up at her, “You said you have one, right? I want to see it.”

She bit her lip again, hesitating a minute before nodding and motioning me to follow her. She led me outside and through our backyard, into the woods behind our house. When we started house hunting, I couldn’t figure out why Astrid was so insistent on a house on the edge of town that backed onto the woods but now, it made so much sense.

She led me deeper into the forest before finally stopping in a large clearing. She walked the perimeter, scanning the trees, and as she passed me, I noticed how her pupils were slit now, like a snake’s. Deciding we were completely alone, she stood in the middle of the clearing and took a deep breath. She looked at me, a mix of fear and hope in her inhuman eyes before she closed them and let the breath out.

It was just like her arm. Her whole body warped, getting bigger and bigger and when the distorting settled, my girlfriend as I had known her wasn’t standing in front of me anymore.

She had no wings or legs, looking like someone had stuck horns and a back ridge on a forest green python. You know, if the python had been given steroids and was sixty feet long.

It would have been terrifying. If she didn’t look so terrified herself.

Astrid straightened, the top of her head easily passing the tops of the trees, and flopped the end of her tail back and forth in a very nervous manner, “So…what do you think?”

I craned my neck to look up at her and after a minute, I smiled, “You know, I was waiting for the perfect moment and something tells me there won’t be a better moment than this.” I fished the box out of my pocket and got down on one knee, opening the box and presenting the ring to her, “Astrid, I don’t care if you’re human or wyrm. All I care about is that I love you and you make me happier than I’ve been in a long time. So, will you marry me?”

She blinked, her mouth falling open and revealing her fangs and forked tongue, “Are you serious?”

I smiled and nodded. She stared at me for a long moment before she made a sound somewhere between a hiss and a laugh and shifted back. She threw herself at me, knocking me over onto my back, and wrapped herself around me like—well, like a snake and buried her face into my neck, chanting yes over and over again between her laughs. I managed to spit the ring onto her finger before hugging her tightly, “Just for the record, I would still love you if you were a worm.”
