From Windowsill to Wellness: My Experience with the Medicinal Garden Kit
I've always been curious about growing my own herbs, but the thought of starting from scratch felt daunting. Enter the Medicinal Garden Kit – a brand new product that caught my eye recently. This kit promised a simple and rewarding way to cultivate a selection of beneficial herbs at home, and I was eager to give it a try.
Tumblr media
A Complete and User-friendly Kit
Upon receiving the kit, I was impressed by its comprehensiveness. It included everything I needed to get started: a variety of high-quality seeds for medicinal herbs like chamomile, lavender, and echinacea, along with organic potting mix, biodegradable pots, plant markers, and a detailed instruction booklet. The instructions were clear, concise, and easy to follow, making the process accessible even for complete gardening novices like myself.
The Joy of Seedling Growth
Planting the seeds was a surprisingly therapeutic experience. Each tiny seed held the promise of a future herb with unique healing properties. Following the kit's instructions, I carefully planted the seeds in the provided pots and meticulously watered them. Within days, I witnessed the magic of germination – tiny green shoots pushing through the soil, a testament to the life force within them.
Learning and Growing Alongside My Herbs
Watching the herbs grow was a constant source of delight. The kit's included plant markers ensured I knew which was which, and the booklet provided helpful information on each herb's specific needs and potential uses. I learned about the calming properties of chamomile, the soothing benefits of lavender, and the immune-boosting potential of echinacea. It was incredibly rewarding to witness their growth and better understand their medicinal value.
Fresh Herbs: A Delicious and Functional Addition to My Kitchen
The real joy came when the herbs reached a point where I could begin to harvest them. Adding fresh, homegrown herbs to my cooking elevated everyday dishes to a whole new level. A simple cup of tea transformed into a calming ritual with a sprig of lavender, and homemade soups and stir-fries gained a depth of flavour thanks to fresh thyme and oregano. It was a delightful way to experience the bounty of my own little medicinal garden.
More Than Just Herbs: A Sense of Accomplishment and Connection
The Medicinal Garden Kit has been more than just a way to grow herbs; it's been a journey of learning and self-sufficiency. It's fostered a sense of accomplishment as I witness the fruits (or rather, herbs!) of my labor. Nurturing these plants has given me a deeper appreciation for nature and the cycle of life.

i have been in community with profoundly developmentally disabled peers and peers with brain damage my whole life, bc i had a childhood diagnosis. i have also been leftist my whole life; my mother was a marxist and raised me that way, and while their politics were absolute dogshit, they were lefty dogshit.
my entire life, i have seen leftist educators throw mentally disabled people away as "lost causes" because they couldn't engage with the material the way it was being presented. leftist outreach and education does, genuinely, have a massive lack of accessible material. to be blunt, people are not interested in retrofitting their leftist outreach to be accessible to people who learn best through episodes of sesame street.
as in, i have repeatedly faced outright laughter and cruelty over the idea that this could be a priority. or even something that we consider doing at all.
"people who are that mentally disabled don't need to know about these things," the kindest interpretation goes. ("people who are that mentally disabled don't interact with the world, anyway, they're all in institutions or monitored 24/7 by their parents," the uncharitable underlying assumptions go. "they wouldn't be a worker who needs a union. or a library attendee. or a member of the community garden. or a volunteer at the food bank. or or or")
the people i have seen this hurt the worst, over and over again, are profoundly mentally disabled people of color whose lack of access to accessible antiracist education is causing real danger in their lives. institutionalized disabled people of color who have learned racist ideology and behaviors from white authority, whether they were adopted by white families or incarcerated in care institutions run by white staff. who are treated lower than garbage by leftist educators, who view them as "lost causes," as unworthy of time and effort and attention, as deserving of their abuses because they... what... internalized the abuses that make up every aspect of their lives since birth?
i see people saying things in this conversation like "disability isn't an excuse for racism or transphobia or whatever, people have the obligation to improve themselves." oh, believe me, i have seen again and again how many privileged disabled people utilize their disabilities to punch down on others, try to escape accountability for their punching down by citing disability. but individual weaponization of identity is just that: weaponization of identity.
the power structures at play are what they are. it is a noble and admirable goal to want leftist outreach and education to be more accessible to all. if that is truly your goal, you must eventually reckon with the existence of people who do, actually, really need it presented in a picture book. or an episode of bluey. or a conversation where you only use examples of people they know in real life, using things that happened to them personally. the existence of people who cannot grasp forms of abstract reasoning, who need information presented as rules, or as guidelines, or as categories. the idea that yes, fully grown adults who need daniel tiger to explain racism to them are human beings who not only deserve access to that very thing, but who also deserve to be a part of leftist spaces and benefit from leftist organizing. are people for whom it might be INTEGRAL they get to be a part of leftism. are victims of racism themselves and suffering without access to antiracist spaces and community and support.
and you will need to reckon with the abject cruelty of your peers who laugh and mock the very idea of this. you need to reckon with the fact that a lot of people you respect, a lot of leftists doing genuinely good work, will respond to this by making fun of the people you're serving, even outright telling you their violent fantasies about these people. that is the experience of organizing in leftist spaces for profoundly disabled people. that is why so many of us burn out so fast. there IS a structural problem with mentally disabled people being seen as disposable and not a part of community. and it is EXTREMELY present in leftist organizing and outreach efforts.

Tumblr media
How to ground yourself
There are many ways to ground yourself. Some of the most common methods include:
Walking barefoot outside: Walking barefoot outside is one of the best ways to ground yourself. The direct contact with the earth helps to transfer electrons from the earth to your body.
Sit or lie on the ground: Another way to ground yourself is to sit or lie on the ground. This allows you to connect with the earth's energy and feel more grounded.
Garden: Gardening is a great way to ground yourself. When you work in the garden, you're directly connected to the earth and its energy.
Hold a grounding crystal: Holding a grounding crystal, such as a black tourmaline or hematite, can help to ground you. These crystals help to absorb negative energy and promote grounding.
Take a grounding shower: Taking a grounding shower can help to ground you. The water helps to wash away negative energy and promote grounding.
Grounding is a simple and effective way to improve your health and well-being.

"Any good gardener knows what a good de-weeding can do for a vegetable garden. As it turns out, it’s much the same for coral reefs.
Following a volunteer “sea-weeding” program launched in Australia, scientists are witnessing compounding coral recovery both in quantity and diversity, and suggest that this simple method has the power to transform degraded reefs overrun by macroalgae.
In a balanced ecosystem, macroalgae is kept in check by the size and health of corals, but as extreme weather events or coral bleaching causes some sections of reef to die, macroalgae has no other neighbor keeping a check on its spread.
Over a period of three years, the joint Earthwatch Institute program led by James Cook University Senior Research Officer Hillary Smith and Professor David Bourne, also at JCU and the Australian Institute of Marine Science, has organized volunteer citizen scientists to help remove macroalgae at two experimental reef sites.
The results of the first three years of work and study have now been published in the Journal of Applied Ecology, and they show a 600% increase in coral recovery rates.
“It’s just like weeding your garden,” Smith said. “Every time we return, the seaweed is growing back less and less, so this method could provide lasting benefit without requiring endless effort.” ...
The importance of the study, Smith details, is that a lot of reef recovery efforts globally are powered by expensive, high-tech, and experimental solutions. The study hoped to show that manual de-weeding was just as effective, and thereby encourage organizations or nations that lack the tech or funding of a country like Australia to pursue sea-weeding as a way of protecting their corals.
“We have yet to see a plateau in coral growth within these plots at Magnetic Island, which is characterized as one of the degraded reefs on the Great Barrier Reef,” Smith said. “We also found an increase in coral diversity, so this method is benefitting a wide range of different coral types.”
Smith said her team are now scoping other locations where the sea-weeding technique could be useful, including the Whitsunday Islands, which are home to a different species of predominant seaweed.
They also want to employ them in French Polynesia, Indonesia, and even Singapore, where experts have identified out-of-control macroalgae spread along coral reefs."

I really underestimated the power of networking but thanks to just existing in a crowd once after a big fashion show I've made friends with a chairman of an international nonprofit organization who is probably singlehandedly the reason why my proposed project to spearhead the creation of an ecological garden on my college campus is getting actual attention from the dean's office and assorted higher-ups.
Y'all don't need to fuck around with LinkedIn (or at least I haven't needed to yet) but genuinely don't ever forget to be an opportunist. Fuck grindset culture, and fuck always being in that sort of productivity-seeking mode, but definitely always be paying attention to how your surroundings and choices could benefit you by being in them. Take the chance. The worst that happens is nothing.

The Palestine Sunbird Persists
The Palestine sunbird, also known as the orange-tufted sunbird (Cinnyris osea) is the national bird of Palestine, and often seen as a symbol of resistance and hope. This species occurs in dry climates, particularly desert, scrubland, and savannahs, but can also be found in orchards and gardens where flowers are abundant. In addition to the Levant, C. osea occurs throughout the southwest cost of Saudia Arabia and the coasts of Yemen and Oman in the south.
C. osea is a small bird, 8 to 12 cm (3.1-4.7 in) long with a wingspan of only 14 to 16 cm (5.5-6.2 in). Males weigh on average 7.6 g (0.26 oz) and females are slightly smaller, at about 6.8 g (0.24 oz). Males are quite easy to identify due to their striking plumage; their feathers are iridescent, appearing dark until they shimmer glossy blue or green, with orange tufts at the side of the breast. In contrast females are fairly drab; grey-brown with a lighter underside. The beaks of the Palestine sunbird are also noted for their distinctively long and curved, which they have developed to efficiently feed on nectar.
Although not directly part of the hummingbird family, the Palestine sunbird shares many similarities with the group. Its diet consists of nectar, and is supplemented with insects. Their tongues are long, and brush-like, and the shape of their beak allows them to reach down to the base of the flower. For flowers that are , they will use their sharp beaks to pierce the side and access the nectar directly. All this is done at very high speeds, but unlike hummingbirds the Palestine sunbird cannot hover in place, and must land in order to feed. Because of their primary reliance on nectar, the orange-tufted sunbird is an important pollinator in its native region. Adults are rarely predated upon, but eggs and young are often targets for lizards, snakes, and birds of prey.
Reproduction begins in June, and continues through October. Males establish and defend territories, and court females by singing to attract a potential mate, then chasing her until she perches to signal her acceptance. Following the pairing, the two construct a purse-like nest, sometimes with a porch-like structure, that hangs from a branch. In this nest, 1-2 eggs are laid, and are incubated primarily by the female, while the male provides her food. The eggs take 13 to 14 days to hatch, and chicks are taken care of by both parents for an additional 14 to 21 days. Individuals can live up to 5 years in the wild.
Conservation status: The Palestine sunbird has a large range and population, and is thus considered Least Concern by the IUCN. Its primary threat is habitat loss due to agriculture and urban development.
If you send me proof that you’ve made a donation to UNRWA or another organization benefiting Palestinians, I’ll make art of any animal of your choosing.
Remember, the donation can be in any amount– every dollar counts!

Armand really likes playing with dolls. He throws Lestat around like a rag doll when he meets him, he ties people to his slab and sets them on fire. The theatre is his dollhouse, and all the cast and crew are his little toys he puppets (he literally does, when he makes them all pass out at the dinner table and when he manhandles Santiago and Claudia), and he directs their little plays and dresses them up in little costumes and has them act out his fun little fantasies every night (“no pain,” Claudia falling out of a window and dying, etc.). He even sets their bedtime. Then he’s got his morgue, where he keeps all the parts he doesn’t feel like playing with anymore. Still organized, still catalogued, still clearly owned by him. In little boxes with their names written on them. In San Francisco he buys houses and fixes the slanting floors and flips them for profit. He rips newspaper off the windows to let the light in when he’s arguing with Louis. Then he restricts Louis’ movement and leaves him immobile and in pain on a bed instead of feeding him or putting him in his coffin. He cuts the strings of his favorite marionette. You see it in how he feeds Louis. He drips his blood into Louis’ mouth and then removes his wrist once he decides Louis has had enough. Then he puppets and contorts Daniel’s body for his own amusement, and then he sets Daniel in front of the television and leaves it on like he’s babysitting a child, and then he gently cleans up Daniel’s wounds and holds him like a child and convinces him he wants to die. In Dubai he controls all the windows in the penthouse, and he’s made some interesting decisions about their wardrobe (it’s all black athleisure, unless Armand’s wearing a dress shirt). The shelves are out of Louis’ reach, the only one ever shown leaving the apartment is Armand. He sells their paintings. He’s planted his magnolia in the zen garden he built for Louis. It’s literally his dollhouse he keeps his favorite doll in. Their bedroom is made of bars. He’s wiped some of Louis’ memories, he’s put Fred Steins in with Louis’ photos. I think Armand conceptualizes all of this as servitude, things he does for someone else’s benefit at the expense of himself because he’s dutiful and self-sacrificial, and I think there is some truth to that, but on another level, he really enjoys playing with dolls. He’d probably be better off if he started playing the Sims or something. He’s such a little perfectionist with a control freak streak. He’s actually very easy to please. As long as everything goes his way 24/7, 365, without failure or exception, he’s happy.

web of wyrd: goals you should set to become your best self
this is just a theory of mine because these bubbles of the matrix should represent your higher self. i feel like it could work for the outside numbers too that changes yearly... anywho - this is not to say that you can't accomplish goals/resolution not listed in your category / under your energetic number nor that your efforts not listed in your selection don't make you a better person. this is simply what i believe people with these numbers would benefit from doing and how they can gain new found confidence in themselves.

TAMAKI AMAJIKI DOMESTIC HEADCANONS PLEASEEKKDKEKEKEKD
Tumblr media
Here you are, I hope you enjoy them. Let's give Tamaki some much-needed love!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's used to being the first awake because of his job, but he enjoys the peace and quiet the early hours bring. It gives him time to organize his thoughts as he prepares breakfast, letting the house fill with the savory aroma of eggs and rice.
He usually makes lunch for everyone at this time. Because his quirk enables him to use food to his advantage, he has gotten pretty good at cooking through the years and enjoys experimenting with different foods to see what dishes he can make for everyone, and which ones would benefit him the most at work.
His best friend Mirio is a frequent visitor, and on occasion, will join your family for game nights. Usually, this involved everyone playing a classic board game, or a family-themed card game. Mirio usually wins, but Tamaki tries to take pride in being a proud loser.
He's most tired after work and prefers quiet evenings spent at home. Cuddling with his loved ones on the couch or watching a movie together makes him happy. Although he often falls asleep during these times, he enjoys knowing he's with his family and everything is safe and sound.
He enjoys gardening on his days off and has a small patch of flowers in the backyard. He also enjoys growing certain herbs and spices to add to his cooking or to experiment with. Although he's not egotistical, he takes pride tending to his garden and watching his plants thrive.
Tamaki tries his best to be a supportive partner, always willing to lend his ear or offer a comforting embrace. He puts open communication first and tries to make the house a loving and nurturing environment for his significant other.
All in all, he tries his best to give his family everything he didn't have and keeps working hard to support everyone's dreams. He takes pride in making sure there's always a loving and comforting feeling in the house.
