Hiiii I have a community question I wanted to ask!!

Abed mentions all sorts of movies and tv shows through out Community, but I just wanted to know if maybe you have like a list of which ones are real and which ones he seemed to like more than others.

I can only think of the dark knight because of the dvd Annie broke, and the Star Wars movies (except he apparently hates the prequels) and cougar town!

so, he mentions/references an insane number of movies and tv shows throughout the series, and I unfortunately do not have a list of every single one. although, I am (VERY slowly) working on an in-depth episode-by-episode analysis of the entire series, and listing every pop culture reference is a subsection in that. but that's not helpful right now. moving on

I don't have the picture, but there's this questionnaire abed filled out (outside of the show, it must have been uploaded to a website as promotional material for the show). he says his favorite movie is a tie between:

I believe this is a list he apparently made in 2009, either in the first few weeks of school or right before the school year started. so it's possible he would answer differently as the series progressed. also, I do take some of these extra-canon things with a grain of salt, as on the same form he said his favorite place on campus was study room D or something, when obviously they definitely meant to write study room F. so, the credibility of my source for this information isn't exactly rock-solid. although, he does mention a lot of these movies on screen, and expresses love for many of them (the most notable ones probably being star wars episodes IV-VI, the breakfast club, and pulp fiction)

as you can see from the list, abed particularly loves american movies from the 80's. just a trend I thought I’d point out.

at this point anyone who has seen community knows there are some really really big ones that I haven’t mentioned yet. pieces of media that are INTEGRAL to abed as a character. I was saving them for last lmfao. they are:

if I had to pick a holy trinity of media for abed, it would be these three things. these are EASILY the things he talks about the most, which is interesting, as both the kickpuncher movie franchise and the inspector spacetime series are completely fictional, and only exist in the community universe. (this is probably so they can show abed actually watching some of the shows/movies he talks about, without the obvious copyright issues that come with playing clips from an already existing movie/tv show on your screen. they kind of do that with blade in 3x15, but they only play vague fighting sounds, and never show their tv on our screen. anyway. not relevant.) to answer one of your questions from the ask, I believe those two are the ONLY fictional pieces of media abed talks about. as far as I know, everything else he mentions is real, including cougar town.

kickpuncher is obviously reminiscent of sci-fi/action films from the 80's, like robocop. like I said earlier, taking their place so that they could have a more substantial role in abed's on-screen life without any copywrite worries. it's a whole franchise, so there are multiple movies: kickpuncher, kickpuncher 2: codename: punchkicker, kickpuncher 3: the final kickening, kickpuncher: detroit, kickpuncher: miami (?), and kicksplasher (?). kicksplasher is apparently shown as a poster on abed's wall, and I’m assuming it's from the same franchise, although that could be wrong. the point is there's a very elaborate universe for kickpuncher, and it's a big part of abed's, and later troy's, film taste. the first time they mention it is in 1x15 romantic expressionism, when abed, troy, shirley, pierce, and chang all get together in abed's dorm room to make fun of stupid movies together. it's funny that it was introduced as a stupid movie to watch ironically, then troy and abed both end up genuinely loving it lmao. classic

inspector spacetime is obviously reminiscent of doctor who. they're both british sci-fi series that have been running for decades. doctor who uses a police box to travel the multiverse, while doctor who uses a telephone box. doctor who has malicious daleks who chant "exterminate," while inspector spacetime has blorgons who shout "eradicate." the concepts of the shows are obviously the same, with the actor for the doctor changing every season, etc etc. they're essentially the same exact show, but, like I said before, changed slightly so they can world-build without getting copywrited. there is something a little bit silly about this, though. it's definitely a continuity error and it's up to everyone whether they want to accept it as canon or not, I guess, but there's an episode where abed is actually wearing a doctor who t-shirt. (it also references bill and ted, but the doctor who part is what's relevant.) here's some pictures:

awesome shirt tbh, but it is a little bit funny that is essentially makes it true that doctor who and inspector spacetime both exist in the community universe. and, these pictures are from the cold open of 4x11 basic human anatomy, which is way after inspector spacetime is introduced to the show (3x01 biology 101). so, is inspector spacetime just a rip-off of doctor who? is abed a fan of both shows? if he is, clearly he likes inspector spacetime better. anyway. I would guess that this wasn't intentional. but that is definitely a tardis on that shirt. maybe it's just a classic season 4 continuity mistake. oh well. I guess that's just how the cookie crumbles. anyway.

cougar town time! yes, it's a real show. I didn't think it was but it is. what's not real is cougarton abbey, the short-lived british remake that britta gets abed into in 3x01 biology 101. but yeah. it has 6 seasons and is streaming on hulu, if you're interested. I’ve heard it's not good but who knows for sure. something cool about cougar town is that abed is actually in an episode. let me be clear: not danny pudi. ABED. it's similar to the story abed tells about being invited to the cougar town set and shitting his pants while having an existential crisis about the layers of reality. here is a youtube clip of the scene. I found out about it while stalking danny pudi's wikipedia page months ago, you know, a typical sunday afternoon activity, and I saw a cougar town credit on there. I didn't even know it was a real show at that point so you can imagine my surprise lmao. anyway. idk if you knew that already but it's one of my favorite community easter eggs. so funny.

You Can't Be a Fox and a Wolf

This work is for @teenwolf-meta's Meta May Monday, for the prompt transformation.

In The Divine Move (3x24), working from the clues found on the Shugendo Scroll, the pack defeats the nogitsune. While Derek, the twins, and Chris Argent destroy the commandeered oni outside, Isaac brings in the Nemeton-wood cannister that can serve as its prison, Stiles and Lydia distract it, Scott bites it, and Kira delivers the coup de grace with her mother's katana, reducing it to a fly. The key to its defeat is weakening it enough to be imprisoned, "changing the host." As Stiles triumphantly says, "you can't be a fox and a wolf."

Yet, in Teen Wolf: The Movie, the nogitsune taunts Scott in the climactic fight with the consequences of his earlier defeat.

Nogitsune: Do you remember, Scott, the gift that you gave me? The bite of the alpha, the power of the werewolf.

Immediately, this seems like a significant plot hole, or at least a contradiction in the lore. If Scott's bite gave the nogitsune the power of a werewolf, then the Shugendo Scroll was wrong, and changing the host was not the key to saving Stiles and defeating the nogitsune. While it may seem to contradict the entire finale of Season 3B, there is a much simpler and more well-established alternative answer.

The nogitsune was lying.

That declaration was a stratagem, designed to weaken its opponents. It was a trick, and one it had played many times before. Of course, it changes its appearance, but it has done that before, even in the same movie, assuming Victoria Argent's form and manipulatively directing a newly-resurrected and quite confused Allison against its enemies. It seems this particular trick is one of its favorites: turning the fears of its opponents against them, causing them doubt and pain, which in turn strengthens it. How do I know this? Because it has used it repeatedly.

In Riddled (3x18), the nogitsune stages a takeover of Stiles while the boy is undergoing an MRI. It plays on Stiles's terror about the possibility of having frontotemporal dementia, because as the Sheriff points out later "You don't take away their courage, you take away their hope." The nogitsune torments Stiles with its riddles and then says:

Nogitsune: "Your friends. Your family. Everyone who ever meant something to you. We're going to destroy all of them, Stiles. One by one."

It's only then that nogitsune reveals as face: Stiles's face, similarly to the reveal in the movie. Doing so implies that they are the monster. Stiles already doubts his own virtue as a person, which is only implied in his words and his actions, and originates in the past, we learn about later in Required Reading (5x06):

Claudia: He's trying to hurt me. I don't care if you don't believe me, but he is. He's trying to kill me.

The nogitsune doesn't use "we" just to be cool. By tapping into Stiles deep-seated trauma and misapprehension that he's a threat to those he loves, he weakens Stiles and strengthens itself enough to allow the fox to take over fully, confront Noshiko, and leave the hospital. The fact that it's not true -- that it's Claudia's illness that made her afraid and nothing in Stiles's nature -- doesn't matter as long as it digs at Stiles's doubt.

Similarly, in De-Void (3x21), a "captured" nogitsune in Stiles's body talks to Melissa while she is trying to tend his wounds after fooling her to remove his gag.

Nogitsune: Really, Melissa? I shed one tear? That's all it takes? Come on. You can't crumble that easily. How are you going to hold up when Scott knows the truth?

Melissa: What?

Nogitsune: When he finds out why his dad really left? You know he overheard it, right? You had no idea. You called Stilinski right after it happened. You didn't tell Scott, but you told the Sheriff. Hmm. But Stiles heard it like he hears everything. But you want to know why he never told Scott? Because he knew that Scott would never forgive you. He knew how much he would hate you.

This time the trick is designed to unsettle Melissa and to sow confusion and dissent, moving pieces on the board so it can kidnap Lydia. We already knew at that point that Melissa was worried about Scott's reaction to his father leaving, and we learned that all the way back in The Tell (1x05):

Melissa: Oh. Well, trust me, we're much better off without him in the picture. Harris: Well, does Scott feel the same way? Melissa: Yes. I think so. I hope so.

It doesn't matter that we know that the nogitsune is lying about what Scott's reaction would be. Scott literally does not blame his mother even for rejecting him in a jail cell in Fury (2x10); his disdain for his father being absent is completely focused on Rafael But the nogitsune is playing into Melissa's fears about her own decision and its consequences.

The same way it plays into Lydia's fears and doubts in Insatiable (3x23) in order to feed off her pain and keep her unbalanced. While its got her trapped in the tunnels beneath Oak Creek, it has to keep Lydia, an intelligent person, from figuring out why he kidnapped her.

Lydia: They'll find me. My friends are going to find me. Nogitsune: You think so? I myself, was kind of wondering what they're doing right now. What useless lead they're chasing. I wonder if maybe some of them have bigger problems to deal with right now. Are they really spending every minute looking for you?

While that speech did serve to point out to the audience what was going on with the others, it also managed to attack Lydia at her weakest, the reason she felt she had to play dumb to get a boy to like her, and only started revealing her intellect when she was appreciated for it. But she still has worries that no one cares that much about the real Lydia, as shown in Restraint (2x06):

Lydia: I don't need anyone to hang out with. I need someone to talk to. Allison: I - I understand that it's important, but if it can just wait - Lydia: Why is everyone always telling me to wait? Why can't anyone have "right now" available?

The fear of Lydia being rejected, of not being important enough to people, of being made to stay in the car and out of the way, of "Nothing in this room is valuable." has been with her since the beginning of the show and stayed with her.

As I said, this is nogitsune's primary weapon -- turning the fears and doubts of its prey into sente, the advantage, as well as its food -- and its excels in its use. Which is why I'm pretty confident that the taunt delivered to Scott in the movie was just that: a baseless falsehood. And nothing convinces me of that more than the word choice that the nogitsune use: "gift."

Scott: Us? You mean you! You did this to me! Derek: Is it really so bad, Scott? That you can see better - Hear more clearly, move faster than any human could ever hope? You've been given something that most people would kill for. The bite is a gift. Scott: I don't want it.

This is from the pilot, episode 1 of season 1. The Bite has been the source of everything that Scott has suffered and every loss he has endured. Even fifteen years later, Scott cannot escape its consequences. The nogitsune, as it was made clear, considers winning the game if Scott dies in Allison's arms this time, after the nogitsune makes his best friend lover kill him. By evoking where it all began, the nogitsune lays the foundation for Scott being willing to do this, being willing to end his life by sacrificing it. So, yeah, it was a lie based on a transformation, lying just like it did with Victoria's face, like the MRI results, like Melissa's dark secret, like Lydia's worry that she's not valuable.

But Scott didn't fall for it, because he's more than just the pain, strife and chaos that has filled his life, something a monster who sees pain as food and only wants 'more' could never hope to understand.

I kinda touched on my decisions for the recent arc of tbbw in my last update but I had more to say (i totally ran out of words in the last authors note, so had to delete like two paragraphs lmao), especially on chapter 35 and 34, so here it goes. [spoilers under the cut]

Firstly, I've mentioned this before but the whole arc of Damon disappearing was not originally planned in the first plot line. Initially, I'd discarded giving any justice for Caroline because I couldn't see a way of keeping her, Klaus and her friends all in character without utter carnage following in the fallout. If anything happened to Damon, Stefan and Elena would flip out and Stefan's whole vendetta against Klaus would be re-ignited. Similarly, Caroline, in this point in time, isn't one to exactly condone cold-blooded murder or torture. And there's also the very messy and difficult art of accurately presenting Caroline's trauma respectfully when I myself have never experienced anything like it. But then I think I was writing chapter 12? Chapter 13? And suddenly I had a HUGE epiphany.

I was rewatching the end of s3 tvd to help better draft out the scenes I was currently writing and plan future chapters in more detail, and I got to the scene in 3x21 where Stefan and Damon are driving out of Mystic Falls to dump Klaus' dessicated body somewhere. In canon... Damon literally promises to leave Mystic Falls if Elena chooses Stefan (he doesn't make good on his word later - no surprise there really) and seeing that, it hit me.

It fucking hit me.

What if the Mystic Falls gang never even realised Damon was missing? What if they never even suspected Klaus when it came to his disappearance? Stefan and Damon haven't always kept in touch over their decades as vampires, would Stefan really be surprised if Damon 'left' Mystic Falls and didn't text, didn't call? Damon wasn't suspicious in canon either, when Stefan spent a summer in a safe at the bottom of the falls while he got to be with Elena. I'm not saying Damon and Stefan don't care about each other - they obviously do, to a passionate extent, but unlike the Mikaelsons dynamic, they're a lot more independent of each other and haven't spent their entire vampiric lives together, tied to the hip. They're used to not seeing or hearing from one another for long periods of time. Hell, Damon even spent years? Decades? Imprisoned by the Augustine Society and Stefan never noticed, so like, it's technically canon the two aren't great at communicating their current whereabouts. So, if they never realise Damon is missing, never even suspect Klaus... Stefan's characterisation is sorted. I can do whatever I want to Damon and it doesn't matter because Stefan won't be out of character leaving Damon to the wolves, because he doesn't even know Damon has been thrown to the wolves in the first place. Elena's characterisation is similar to Stefan in some regard as she's in love with Damon at this point, but she does still care about Caroline and her anger at Damon and guilt complex over what happened to Care would probably outweigh the niggling feeling at the back of her mind that something is wrong for the most part. Bonnie's Bonnie - she'd be down for murdering Damon lmao, so like I don't even need to find a loophole for her.

Keeping Klaus and Liz in character were harder. In a perfect world, I'd have Caroline exacting her own revenge - like that would be the perfect plot line and perhaps would work if she was freshly turned, shunned from her friends and met Klaus then. Except she didn't meet him then, her friends are still her friends and any revenge against Damon now would be OOC. Which is where Liz comes in. We've already seen in canon she's capable of taking out vampires, or at least motivated to do so. Caroline is her daughter, and like the night of Caroline's birthday, she'd do anything to protect her - even make a deal with the devil. So she approaches Klaus, plots with him to take out Damon in a cunning, quiet way...and Klaus goes along with it because although he is impulsive and has a flair for the dramatics, he's cunning too. Manipulative. Tactical. Traits that are often forgotten in the later seasons and TO.

I don't ever show what happens to Damon, except for that 'Hello Damon' and the blood decorating Klaus' socks, and that's on purpose. I wanted it to be vague. Is Damon dead? Is he alive? Is he forever locked in the Mikaelsons' basement? Is he free, but compelled with a horrific list of instructions, never allowed to lay eyes on Caroline ever again? No one knows.

It's up to you to decide.

And if, maybe, he's still alive in a hundred years - well. I'm sure Caroline wouldn't mind then exacting her own revenge. Perhaps Klaus will hand Damon over to her gifted wrapped for her 118th birthday as an anniversary present, who knows.

I found this Glee game around Tumblr but the creator's profile is disabled. If anyone recognizes it let me know and I'll mention it!

1. Favourite season 1 episode: The Power of Madonna (1x15) I literally love everything about this episode. Especially the introduction of cheerio!Kurt and the 4 Minutes performance! Pure gold.

2. Favourite season 2 episode: Original Song (2x16) Do I need to specify that? The beginning of klaine 💘💖💞

3. Favourite season 3 episode: I'm undecided between The First Time (3x05) and Nationals (3x21) The first one because, of course, klaine. The Nationals episode is too good, though. It shows their coming together as a group and the songs are beautiful. And then they win! Nothing else to say.

4. Favourite season 4 episode: I'm not a fan of season four, so it's hard to choose. I would say I Do (4x14) because of, again, klaine scenes which are BEAUTIFUL (horny!Kurt is what I love most). But I would say maybe Wonder-ful (4x21) for the positivity of the episode. Super cute.

5. Favourite season 5 episode: Here I feel I must necessarily mention two episodes. Love, love, love (5x01) and Tina in the Sky with Diamonds (5x02). The first for the most beautiful marriage proposal in history. The second for Hey Jude. What happened to Tina is atrocious and their way of consoling and support her is wonderful. This is the real Glee!

6. Favourite season 6 episode: Am I repetitive? Who cares! A wedding (6x08) because "There's no one else" makes me scream every time. I loved the idea of them getting married just like that, out of nowhere, without some couples therapy first? No. But they love each other and I'm okay with that.

7. Episode that makes me cry: The Quarterback (5x01) enough said. But also Grilled Cheesus (2x03) I see myself very much in what happens to Kurt. It makes me cry every time.

8. Episode that makes me laugh: Previously Unaired Christmas (5x08) I'm probably the only one but the silliness and surrealism of this episode makes me pee my pants.

9. Favourite tribute episode: again, The Power of Madonna (1x15) this is seriously amazing. Just iconic.

10. Favourite Christmas episode: A Very Glee Christmas (2x10) OBVIOUSLY because of Baby It’s Cold Outside. But I also really like Glee, Actually (4x10) if it weren't for the Jake and Puck part that I find very boring... please don't hate me.

11. Episode with the best songs: I would say Nationals. And Rachel sings what I think is her best solo of the series. I get goosebumps thinking about it.

12. Favourite sectionals episode: Sectionals (1x13) because of Don’t Rain on My Parade and My life would suck without you.

13. Favourite regionals episode: Original Song (2x16) nothing can beat it (we pretend that Candles does not exist)

14. Favourite nationals episode: Nationals (3x21) of course!!!

15. Episode most people like but I don’t: Blame It on the Alcohol (2x14) okay. Here I think I'm going to get a lot of criticism. It is definitely funny and hilarious, but I CANNOT accept Rachel's selfishness toward what she calls her best friend. I'm sorry but that's the way it is. I also cannot stand that Kurt is called biphobic. He's not biphobic: he's just a 16-year-old boy in love and jealous who couldn't give a good speech at the moment, that's all.

16. Episode most people dislike but I like: The Hurt Locker Part 2 (6x05) I literally love everything about this episode. It is INSANE and just so funny. That klaine kiss... *swoon*

Glee episode 3x20 “Props” and 3x21 “Nationals” aired.

The former was written and directed by Ian Brennan and originally watched by 6.09m viewers in the United States, while the latter was written by Ali Adler and directed by Eric Stoltz, and originally watched by 6.03m viewers in the United States.

3x20 featured 4 new cover songs- I Won’t Give Up, Because You Loved Me, Mean, and Flashdance… What a Feeling, whereas 3x21 featured 8 new cover songs- Edge of Glory, It’s All Coming Back to Me Now, Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Starships, Pinball Wizard, Starlight Express, Tongue Tied, and We Are the Champions.

3x20 featured the final appearance of Eric Bruskotter as Cooter Menkins, while 3x21 guest starred Lindsay Lohan and Perez Hilton as themselves and Rex Lee as Martin Fong.

There’s one thing that I don’t get though. At the very beginning of 3x21 there’s a scene with Robin and Regina where they have like a little indoor picnic and talk about losing their past loves and Robin says this one line that “her death was [his] fault” which completely threw me off because… in this very episode we learn that Marian (originally) died because she was executed by the EQ for helping Snow White. Which begs the question… Did Robin not know how Marian died? Why does he blame himself? Did he see her get arrested? Wouldn’t the link between black knights and Regina be obvious? Did he not know she was executed by Regina? Why would he never talk to her about it if he did know? It really bugs me because why on Earth would they never have a single conversation about this? That seems like something he should have more of an issue with. Correct me if they did talk about it later and I just forgot but I think this issue should have been given more attention.

G: "And of course, there's always Major Kira." B: "This is serious, Garak." G: "I'm being serious. I don't think she likes me." O: "She doesn't. But if she wanted you dead, you would be." Everything about this is 👌👌

Another five Cardassians were assassinated? But I'm almost certain Garak faked his! 

"I am not Doctor Bashir and we are not sparring amiably over lunch." Love this outside perspective on Garak and Bashir's lunch dates.

"You blew up your own shop, Garak!" The shock on Garak's face! And Odo's pleased, "Welllll, heh heh."

Ohhh, so there was a real plot to kill Garak

"He retired some years ago. He was, I might add, the only head of the agency ever to live long enough to do so." The fact that Garak is still showing pride at Tain's accomplishment

The emotion on Garak's face seeing Mila :3

"Is there anything you need me to do while you're gone?" Oh, sweetheart!

Aaaand I've only just realised that this isn't just setting up for The Die Is Cast, TDIC is the next episode! I'd thought it was the end of the season for some reason ..

"Ah, Garak. It's good of you to come. It spares me the trouble of having to send someone else to kill you." ... Whoops

"Like I used to say. Always burn your bridges behind you. You never know who might be trying to follow." I always find it fascinating when aliens have a twist on an English proverb.

Dr Parmak mention - "When we get back, you should look him up." This is where all those fanfics start?

"Mila may not be around much longer." Garak's quick head turn. He's so easy to read?

"Is this a request I hear?" "Not at all! Just an observation :)" oh Garak. I guess protecting Mila is another reason you want to stay on Tain's good side.

G: "And believe me, if it were my decision, things would be-" O: "I don't believe you, Garak..." Yeah, legit

"You are imaginative, Constable, I'll grant you that. But I would suggest that you put those creative powers to better use. We would like you to share your unique insights on the Founders." Garak's trying to tell Odo to make it up, tell him anything.

"It sounds like you're hoping Tain will succeed." I mean, I can see why - the Dominion bring home would be beneficial, probably.

"I'd like permission to take the Defiant into the Gamma Quadrant and try to determine if he's still alive." No of course not. But you tried, Sisko <3

"I am not going to just abandon one of my officers." YES, Sisko, I should have known you'd not take no for an answer

"I consider this a volunteer mission, but don't volunteer yet. There's a good chance you won't be coming back." But it's still worth it to him to try to get Odo :3

Eddington is Not Enjoying This. I guess he wants to fly under Starfleet's radar and not get court martialled? I wonder why he volunteered... It would make more sense to me for him to remain on the station and get more entrenched there

Ah, so that's why Eddington came, to sabotage the mission. He IS sucking up to Starfleet

"You've turned us into sitting ducks for the Jem'Hadar!" Miles trying to attack and Sisko restraining him.

"Because I give you my word." "I make it a policy to never question the word of anyone who wears that uniform. Don't make me change that policy." Oh Sisko.... This hit harder knowing what Eddington will do

"Ohh, no, you're going to torture me, aren't you?" The sarcasm, Odo's so confident Garak can't do anything to him

"Tell me, what will happen if you can't revert to a liquid?" "I don't know." The fear in Odo's face.

"I can wait. The question is, can you?" Chills

"Major, leave the chief alone." XD

"Odo! Talk to me!" The emotionn. "Lie if you have to, but say it now!" He's saying the quiet bit out loud?!

Garak is so transparent! He cannot hide his need to keep Odo alive!

There's definitely something about Garak quoting the Shakespeare he disdained just a few days ago to Tain.

"Why are you doing this?" "Because no changeling has ever harmed another." You kind of let Odo be significantly hurt though... Like, that is a thing that just happened.

"To the Bridge, to get Tain." Odo's bewilderment, yeah we're all with you there!

"Odo, I hope you will accept my sincere apologies for all this." Always with the quest for forgiveness.

Odo's breathless, astonished "What?" as the Defiant appears! 

What a pilot! Jadzia dodging all those phases like they're nothing!

"It's good to see you again, Constable." "Likewise, Major." They are both looking at each other with heart eyes I swear.

This is very similarly shot to Odo's conversation with his Cardassian informant last episode, I like that choice. 

"Do you know what the sad part is, Odo? I'm a very good tailor." Oh, Garak.

We start in the very first episode, the pilot.

Look 1:

Our first glimpse of our leading lady is when she’s watching the particle accelerator be turned on. Though it’s nothing especially exciting, I love this look. All of it feels like it couldn’t be worn separately- which is very, very Iris. Yes, she can be impulsive and emotional, but at the same time, she doesn’t make a move without considering everything, and such details are woven into her outfits.

I love her moto jacket!! I REALLY wish she got to repeat it in the show. Wornontv informs me that it’s the Montesson Jacket in Navy Marine/Everest by Wilfred.  It’s gorgeous on her. The dark purple and red combo looks great. 

In future, the purple and red would reflect Barry and Iris as a superhero power couple so while I’m sure it was unintentional, A+ for unintentional foreshadowing with Iris’ outfit. Also the fact that it goes so well with Barry’s outfit? Soulmates.  

Candice said that Iris rarely wears flat shoes and this is reflective in the Pilot where she starts off by running in heeled ankle boots.

Not pictured, but she also has cute little red bracelets and studded earrings which look great, not overpowering her look but adding to it. And this is the first time she wears rings! Rings are Iris’ go to accessory throughout the series so it’s neat to see where it all started! Unfortunately, I can’t find where to find them. 

Also love the bag with her psych dissertation in it. For as much as Iris ribs Barry about his nerdiness, she is SUCH a nerd. Yes, Iris, the particle accelerator unveiling is the best place to work on your dissertation and not something you could go back to when you get home!

Look 2:

Not much of a look- it was very briefly shown but it looks like casual wear. Which is very exciting- we don’t get to often see her casual garb this season! Looks like a pink top, green or black jacket and grey pants. A chaotic colour combination that is more chaotic than others, but still looks good on her. 

This is probably due to the fact that this is one of the most chaotic moments of her life so far- her best friend just got struck by lightning.

Look 3:

Not many pics since this is one of her most recurring outfits, so you’ll def see it again! It is the Wilfred Free LISIÈRE DRESS in CRS Dye/Mykonos BL. I think it’s one of her simplest looks of the season. 

She’s grieving Barry, but she has to get to work, smile and be friendly and that is reflected in her costuming. I love that her necklace is off centre- her head doesn’t seem to be tilted and the shot is straight. Off centre necklaces are Iris’ thing in early s1 and honestly, I wish they would make a comeback. 

Look 4:

In her next Jitters scene, she wears an army green jacket, a red floral dress (Talula: Lipinski Dress), burgundy tights and of course, heeled ankle boots. There was…a lot in this outfit lmao. I love the jacket- the gold accents, the scalloped back, the collar. 

It’s a very cute dress too! And I love the way scoop necks look on her. The daisy necklace is adorable and matches the dress. Still, very cute and very fitting for the outfit. I love the silhouette of her outfit, too.

Look 5

This look is cute and I’m so surprised it only has .4 seconds of screentime considering it was the main promotional look.

Regardless, it’s a short reddish purple dress which is a really unusual shade for her in that she doesn’t get to wear it that frequently. Which is a shame, she looks great in it. She also has a bracelet which looks gold and red in the photoshoots. I’m unsure if she wears it in the show, given the short amount of time she’s in it. 

And another off center necklace! Another circular necklace though this one has points. I originally thought it was a locket but no. just a circle.

It’s really cute but I can’t get over how close the West family home set looks to Barry’s lab set. Also Barry’s  perspective with Iris glowing golden is very, very cute.

This doesn’t seem to have Iris vibes to it which might be why this is only in a “blink and you miss it” scene in the trailer. She rarely wears polo collars, and she very rarely wears burgundy and black.  That being said, she looks cute.
