He has not been allowed to do much, in his time as a vampire. He doesn't even know if it still exists.

Orlando isn't sure if it's a punishment or a choice, recently.

The world has changed, he is sure.

But he has not moved on.

Seth knows his former wealth shows in all the little things, things he doesn't tend to think about.

His shoes, for example. The ones he's wearing now are the ones he'd been wearing when his mother had kicked him out; they'd been a 'gift' from her, for a dinner party he hadn't cared about but was required to attend anyway.

He'd learned to be careful about where he wore them very quickly. It had gotten him jumped more than once, his empty wallet stolen.

Not careful enough, apparently.

He's not wearing them today. Or his good coat, which is wearing thin from use. He keeps a hand on his heavy flashlight; it's not quite dark yet, but he doesn't want to be surprised.

If he gets another hospital bill, he'll have to leave behind what little he has built up here.

“Greetings, Tumblr. I’ve been out as genderqueer for about five years now, and have worked here for absolutely ages. During the pandemic, I lived in the middle of nowhere for a bit, without any queer community. I was working on our Share Your Pride campaign, and honestly? What’s a gif or screenshot of a moment that brings you joy in any game, movie, show, book, or play?

Hands down, this would have to be the labyrinth scene from Sally Potter's adaptation (1992) of Virginia Woolf's Orlando (1928). It collapses different connotations of a man's solitude and a woman's solitude (and inherently also, for me, questions solitude for anyone of any gender and how that exists in society) in such a short, beautiful sequence. I love how the narrative toys with and traverses time. It's playful, it's hella camp, and it's the first time I watched something and thought, huh. Maybe there's something more to this than me just liking it. (I obviously love the book, too, especially that image of the woman with her apple basket, caught by the freezing Thames, apples suspended in ice, in time. Just? Wow.)

What shape is your gender euphoria?

My gender euphoria is home-shaped: on my front stoop in the early morning. The bees are reeling pollen-soused through the thyme and lavender pots, and the birds are piping a Jackson Pollock soundscape, and the cat is keeping watch over it all. ...Or, ya know, failing that, there’s this helly hanson men’s long sleeve sports top I got in a charity shop years ago which always made me feel Very Good, even Before I Knew.

Spouse and I were going to take a trip to visit their dad in Tennessee in February, but now they're thinking they should go by themselves again (they went in August).

They also think I should do a solo trip somewhere.

Part of me wants to go back to Denver in the winter and visit my BFF. I really had a fun time when I flew out there to see Hanson with her in 2019. Especially when we went to Hot Sulfur Springs. Highly recommend going to a hot springs in the winter. I also found 2 yarn shops I really liked and since I was there for a 4 day weekend, I used public transit to go to them by myself while she was at work and had lunch at some local places. If I were to go, I'd kinda rather go while she's on break (she's a teacher), but flights are so expensive because it's the holidays. Plus she might have plans to go somewhere else (her and her daughter like to take road trips).

Spouse has been suggesting I go other places by myself, but I have no idea where to go.

I don't really want to visit either of my aunts. My hippie aunt lives in Austin and the last time I visited her, it got weird because she's weird. Like turns off the wifi at night because she's afraid of the energy doing something. My other aunt and her daughters live in Orlando, but my cousins are both married with 2 kids. Their kids are a little older (10 and 8, and yes they both of their kids are the same age and they also got married the same year), but I'm just not close to them and not really interested.

I could also go back to Baltimore/DC (I went during the government shutdown last time, so I didn't get to see any of the DC sights) and visit my friend Sarah, but she also has a smaller child. I'm not really a kid person, if you couldn't tell.

Where (in the US, since I don't have a passport and definitely can't afford a trip abroad) would you recommend going on a solo trip? Bonus points for somewhere with good yarn shopping.

I am well aware that I have a type, and it's rather noticeable. However, with that being said, I still wanted to know just how similar my childhood obsessions are to one and other. So, I present 10 of my crushes from when I was roughly 13 and younger. I may have aged and matured since then, but I have found my taste in men to have remained the same.

Ardeth is a badass Medjai, who evidently has trouble guarding Hamunaptra and the Creature.

2. Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman) in Underworld (2003) and Underworld: Evolution (2006).

Michael became the first of his kind and he looked good doing it.

3. Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) in Van Helsing (2004).

Gabriel, oh Gabriel! He ended up killing the girl, but he also ganked Drucula while he was at it.

7. Tom Hanson (Johnny Depp) in the series 21 Jump Street (1987-91).

Officer Hanson is a pretty boy and a by the book kinda guy, but he can probably teach you a few things about handcuffs.

8. Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (2003-17).

Aye, avast! Will's father was indeed a bloody pirate - a scalawag.

9. Jimmy Hickok (Josh Brolin) in the series the Young Riders (1989-91).

Jimmy's a good boy, but hot-headed with a quick draw. queue the song bad company by bad company.

10. John Bender (Judd Nelson) in the Breakfast Club (1985).

Bender's a criminal, but you can always share your jewelry. Particularly your earrings.

What can I say? I liked what I liked, and I still do... I obviously have a thing for beautiful long-haired brunets. I will not apologize.

***I am aware that some of these movies may be considered violent with coarse language and mature themes/content - essentially unsuitable for young children, but I watched them and I turned out just fine. At least I think I did.

PAVEL VOROBEI AND ROSHEN JASWAL SIGN WITH JACKSONVILLE ICEMEN By: Alex Reed, Jacksonville Icemen JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defensemen Pavel Vorobei (pictured) and Roshen Jaswal. In addition, the Icemen have also signed forwards Jake Pappalardo and Adam Berg and goaltender Austin Lotz to professional tryout contracts (PTO). Vorobei, 25, returns to the Icemen, where he posted 11 points (7g, 4a) in 22 games played last season. Vorobei added two assists in ten other ECHL games last season, split between the Orlando Solar Bears and Indy Fuel. In addition, the 6-3 194-pound blue liner registered 23 points (7g, 16a) in 118 games played with the KHL with the Podolsk Vityaz, Kunlun Red Star, and Novosibirsk Sibir. The Minsk, Belarus resident also played one season in Finland with the Lahti Pelicans (SM-Liiga) in 2019-20. Jaswal, 27, registered a goal in eight outings with the Icemen last season. Jaswal also appeared in an additional 21 games in the ECHL in stints with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Maine Mariners, adding three points. The 6-3, 209-pound defenseman played collegiately at St. Olaf College from 2016-2020, totaling 42 career points (13g, 29a) Pappalardo, 25, joins the Icemen after logging a goal and an assist in 16 games played last season with the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL).   In addition, the 5-10 180-pound forward also recorded 25 points in 25 games with the SPHL’s Birmingham Bulls. Before his professional career, the Salem, New Hampshire, resident played two seasons at Holy Cross College and the University of Maine. Berg, 25, joins the Icemen after playing at Brock University (OUAA) for the past three seasons, where he totaled 39 points (20g, 19a).   The 6-1, 190-pound winger compiled 46 points during his major junior career with the WHL’s Regina Pats and Edmonton Oil Kings from 2014-2017.
