Tumblr media
sometimes you block every spoiler tag you can conceive of and mute every single character name & ship name to try and avoid spoiling yourself before you can watch the episode but then you stupidly open social media thinking you’re safe and this is the first thing you see and you just know Something Happened

weekly dorym moments and other stuff in no particular order !!!
dorian casting foresight. liam fanboying.
liam sneezing and then robbie’s little “bless youuu” was so cute for no reason
robbie’s facial expressions this fight… he was so scared
orym being the only one dodging the big predathos fist, the excited cheer of robbie and the rest of the table.
“shadow-walk underneath me baby”. WAS A CRAZY LINE FROM IMOGEN HELPPPP IM SCREAMING
TRAVIS SAYING “if orym dies it’s robbie’s fault” IS SO FUNNY TO ME LIKE GOODBYEEEEE THE WAY THE WHOLE CAST IS DORYM LOVERS
awwwh robbie and liam making faces at each other the entire fight like cmon bro. when orym gets hit by predathos’s maw the first time, robbie shakes his head and laughs when liam looks over to him after saying “don’t worry guys! my potion- nope i take all of that damage.”
WHEN ORYM GETS EATEN BY PREDATHOS THE CONCERNED FACE ROBBIE DOES OMG
laudna getting that crit is INSANE BTW (with the beau dice))
crown of stars on dorian storm… what a beautiful sight tbh omg omg omg… the whole table fangirling and fanboying over it. “only son of the silken squall” MADE ME CRY SO HARD
“i have a wood chisel!” - chetney
oh my god orym pulling dorian in with seedling, healing him with a potion desperately, “we need you… i- i need you! can you get up? we need you!”. is cutting into my heart
THE FIRST THING DORIAN SEES IS ORYM GETTING KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. TRAUMATIC ASF.
the mass cure wounds coming out once again in clutch holy shit- the image of everyone coming back to life with dorian flying into the air, casting healing on everyone but himself…
“i can hold my breath, *forever*.” says dorian. orym with a brow raise, “tell me more…” STOPPP OMG THEY DESERVE TO BE HORNY BUT THIS IS INSANE
witches be bitches. witches be bitches.
the relentless rage was so badass from ashton damnnnnnnnn meowww
okay next episode they boutta talk to the gods and i better see a bitter dorian throwing up a middle finger at lolth.

CritRole Fighting Game Masterpost:
I have this ideas for movesets for characters from Critical Role for a Fighting Game and I've made some movelists based on the fanart I've seen... I DO have to do a lot more characters so far, so I'm gonna put the ones already done here:
Grog and Yasha! (Art by @marie-claire-art)
Scanlan and Avantika!
Beau (and eventually Ashton!) (Art by @oddthesungod)
Characters I still have planned:
From Vox Machina:
- Grog
- Scanlan
- Vax
- Keyleth
- Pike
- Vex (w/ Trinket!)
- Percy
- Tary
- Tiberius (Fuck his player, but the character was fun.)
- Bertrand Bell (Obligatory joke character!)
- The Briarwoods (Delilah main w/ Sylas install!)
- Anna Ripley
- Raishan
From The Mighty Nein:
- Beau
- Yasha
- Fjord
- Jester
- Mollymauk / Kingsley / Lucien (It'll make sense, I swear!)
- Caduceus
- Nott (She'll get a drunk meter!)
- Veth (Essentially "Akuma Nott"!)
- Caleb
- Essek
- Lorenzo
- Avantika
- Obann
- Astrid (and Eadwulf)
- Trent Ikithon
Obligatory Wave 1 DLC - Friends of Vox Machina:
- Gilmore
- Kash
- Zahra
- Kerrek
- Allura & Kima
DLC Wave 2 - Friends of the Mighty Nein:
- Pumat Sol
- Calianna
- Shakaste
- Keg
- Twiggy
- Reani
DLC Wave 3 - The Crownkeepers:
- Opal (and Ted!)
- Fy'ra Rai
- Dariax
- Morrighan
- Dorian Storm
DLC Wave 4 - Bell's Hells:
- Imogen
- Laudna
- Orym
- Fearne
- Ashton
- Fresh Cut Grass
- Chetney
- Braius
DLC Wave 5 - Hellish Villains:
- Otohan Thull
- Sorrowlord Zathuda
- Ludinus Da'leth
- And Matt Mercer, as the Dungeon Master.
That's all! I was debating putting Yussa in there, but I realized bro just stayed on his tower and occasionally needed rescue...
Hopefully I don't take another YEAR to complete the next character on the list... Spoilers for the campaigns in the move lists, btw! Just in case!
If you're interested in hearing about any particualr one, lemme know!

been getting a lot of comments on my post about how someone needs to talk to fearne but i hate to be the bearer of bad news but i genuinely don't think anybody in bell's hells acknowledges she's not okay. they're all convinced she's fine and has no problems.
to the extent of most of bh's knowledge the only problem fearne had was during shardgate. "she was just upset at ashton for lying to her and scared about taking on power but she's okay now! see look they kissed and her powers are really cool!" and i've given up hope that anybody asides orym or chetney actually cares about her deeper feelings. i know ashley just brought it up that fearne wears a mask and usually that means they're gonna talk about it next episode but it's going to feel weird and unearned if someone out of the blue goes "oh btw hey you good fearnie" and it's not one of those two because nobody has acknowledged that she's sad or is hiding behind a mask unlike laudna, orym, ashton, and dorian.
i fear it's looking like caduceus at the end of mn where everyone brushed off how he felt or made jokes about him being constantly high 24/7 and he ended the campaign miserable with a burned down house

Let’s talk about Laudna, cuz lbr this witch is in trouble!
When Fearne used the harness on the shard, Laudna couldn’t even watch. The next time that the group pulls it out, no one in the group even takes into consideration that Laudna is in the same room, Orym uses it, and it results directly in her sucking out the Willmaster’s soul. The very next day, Laudna puts the harness on herself, and uses it to absorb a magical item, and not one person in the group spoke up to say, ‘hey wait, that’s maybe not such a great idea…’
Like honestly, it feels like Laudna had more social interaction with the boat and the rope that she animated herself with a spell that only lasted for one minute, than she has had with all the members of her party combined, over the last forty-eight hours in-game. Her girlfriend has been shamelessly flirting with a bombshell of a druid, who she’s intimately sharing magic with, and is connected to with an actual visible red tether. And the only member of the group who seems to have noticed is the annoying fucking robot that’s whispering in her ear, “Are you jealous? Are you jealous? Are you jealous?” Worst therapist ever btw—honestly, that would make me wanna rip someone’s soul out too.
So, it’s really no wonder when Imogen and Laudna go to bed without speaking, that Laudna reaches out to Delilah for advice and comfort. The whole group knows that Laudna is an insecure fucking mess. They know about her recurring issues of her self-loathing and self-worth. And they know that she’s hyper-sensitive to feelings of betrayal. Like, the whole group has admitted that any one of them could be a ticking time bomb, but imho, Laudna right now is a ticking time bomb, that is just intermittently beeping, and it seems like they’re all just pretending they don’t hear it.

Ok, now that I've had time to process and think, I am of the opinion that Thursday night's tpk was not only planned, but LONG overdue.
Ok that might sound crazy, because no sane dm would ever force a party tpk, but I think there's something more going on here.
I've made jokes that this campaign seems MUCH more deadly than previous ones by wide margins. Almost every single fight has had someone going unconscious or near death. At the very least, every major fight has. Let's run through them: the Dugger fight knocked out 3 witches out, the mimic wall nearly got Orym and Imogen (and would have if Robbie didn't nat 20), the Ira fight knocked Dorian and Orym (which would have been worse if Ira didn't dip), the Shade mother fight was hopelessly unwinnable but no one got knocked unconscious, the plant on the way to the Heartmoore got Laudna and almost Ashton, and while the party never fought Yu/Dusk, that could have been REAL bad.
The encounters this campaign have been beyond deadly, and imo the reason we haven't seen a tpk yet is because some of the best DND players are the cast of cr. They're smart with their abilities and know when to run. I think Matt has been trying to cause a tpk but this was the first time when it succeeded.
Why Matt has been trying to cause a tpk might have something to do with the luxon and Imogen's powers (I am of the opinion the luxon is in the moon btw). I think that Imogen accepting her powers will cause a rift in time and they will start the next episode some amount of time in the past. We know dunamis is capable of time travel and if the luxon is connected to Imogen's powers, it's a semi logical conclusion. Besides, fights like the shade mother and ira would probably be winnable now at level 7, rather than level 4. Additionally, there were a TON of plot threads Matt threw out in early game, a lot of which are going to fall away in favor of chasing down the moon. But what if the cast is going to be reliving the same 2(ish) months running up the solstice and tpk-ing every time they get too close only to get thrown back a few weeks, power up, learn more info, and return stronger than ever.
This theory is kinda pulled out of my ass, but I had this idea and I kinda love the idea of trying to tell a story this way. Time loops provide an interesting way to get through every plot thread the cast wants to without taking any player agency away. Anyways, maybe I'm super off base here but I think I'd be more fun than "it was all a dream".

Summary:
Laudna visits Imogen's dreams
[Major spoilers for Episode 34]
-
She was in a field. The wind was gentle against her hair and the tall grass caressed her calves. It was strangely calm.
Imogen looked around her, trying to find anything.
Where was she?
“Imogen?” That voice.
Her neck almost cracked at the speed.
She was there. She was there, right in front of her. She’s here. She’s okay. She’s here. She’s standing. She’s here.
Her legs started running towards Laudna.
“Laudna!” Her arms wrapped her, relief flooding every vein. “I can’t believe- You’re here. You’re okay. You’re okay. You’re here.” Her throat tightened.
She heard Laudna exhale through her nose.
“I’m not here for long dear.”
Imogen’s heart stopped. She looked up. “What do you- No, you can’t- What do you mean? You can’t leave m- us. We need you. I need you.”
Laudna’s smile warmed her heart. “You’re more than capable to be by yourself.” There was that teasing voice. Imogen rolled her eyes affectionately.
“You know what I mean.”
“I do. I do.” Laudna looked in the distance and right back at Imogen. “Shall we sit?”
Imogen smiles, remembering their travels together. Those evening where it was just the two of them in a field filled with flowers, the warmth of the sun tanning her skin and the breeze caressing their cheekbones.
Soon they were sitting in the dirt, Imogen’s head on Laudna’s lap as she played with her hair. Imogen couldn’t get her eyes off Laudna.
“I thought I lost you.” Imogen’s voice shy, scared of going back to the nightmare.
“I’m always going to be with you. No matter what happens.” Silence washed over them again for a couple of seconds until Laudna spoke up. “Imogen, it isn’t your fault.”
“What?” She was confused. Genuinely confused.
“It isn’t your fault. Fearne, Orym, me. It isn’t your fault.”
Flashes of that day ran over her like skirmish crawlers. She sat up to look her in the eye.
“I should’ve done something to stop her. I shouldn’t have ran. I-”
“You did everything you could do to protect us. That’s who you are.” Her cold hand cupped Imogen’s face. “And you did great. You saved them.”
Imogen’s hand covered Laudna’s. “But I couldn’t safe you.” Tears welled up in her eyes again. “I should’ve done more.”
“You did everything you could.” Her face was so close, her breath brushed against her lips, “You did great, sweetheart. I’m so proud of you.” Her cold lips kissed Imogen’s burning forehead. More tears streamed down her face.
“This is a dream, isn’t it.”
Laudna nodded. “It is.”
“I wish it wasn’t.” Her voice was trembling, her eyes struggled to stay open and her throat hurt with each sob.
“Me too.” Their foreheads touched in the most intimate embrace. Both pairs of eyes shut as they enjoyed each other’s presence. “Promise me you’ll stop blaming yourself?”
Imogen shook her head, her eyes still closed. “I can’t. I can’t. I- I just want you back.” Her forehead felt cold as Laudna took distance. Her free hand took Imogen’s chin and lifted it up, making her look her in the eyes.
“I love you, okay?” Her words felt stable, grounded. Imogen felt the truth behind them. “I don’t want you to blame yourself over this. You did nothing wrong. It’s not your fault.”
“I love you, too.” Her tears distorted her words. “I don’t know what I’m gonna do without you.”
“You’re not alone.” Something cold was pressed against her hand. Some cold metal. Imogen looked down at it. It was the ring she had gifted her. “Keep it for me?”
More tears and more sobs, but she nodded in agreement. “I miss you so much.”
“I’m always going to be right next to you.” Laudna kissed Imogen’s hand, the ring inside her fist. “We’ll meet again, I promise.”
Imogen opened her eyes. Tears stained her face and the bed under her.
She looked next to her, only to find an empty bed.
She cried again.

Also throwing critrole s3 at you for the fandom ask thing, I wanna hear your opinions
thank youuuuu (though given the recent spoilers I kinda feel like you just gently placed a landmine at my feet)
The first character I fell in love with: I mean, Ashton ? I just saw their character art and immediately went "oh shit" because I'm easy like that, but I also really loved their introduction so I was on board with them from the start.
A character that I used to love/like but now do not: FCG I guess ? But it happened pretty fast.
A ship that I used to love/like but now do not: RIP Orym/Bertrand you could have been something, if only in my head.
My ultimate favorite character: right now it's Chetney, I feel like there's so much to explore with him, and it's always nice seeing Travis flex his sense of comedic timing.
Prettiest character: Imogen.
My most hated character: I don't hate anyone yet ? maybe that will change next monday.
My OTP: I still don't have any, but I ship Ashton with literally everyone but FCG and Imogen, and Fearne with everyone but Orym.
My NOTP: way too strong a word, but I don't jive with Orym/Dorian. Idk, I just don't feel it.
Favorite episode: Heart to Heartmoore : so many good late-night conversations ! Absolutely love it.
Saddest death: Well. I guess I'll tell you next monday ? (it will probably be orym's)
Favorite season: Loved the whole Heartmoor mini-arc to bits.
Least favorite season: The whole thing with Yu should have been super exciting but for some reason it didn't work for me ? Same with Fearne's parents, and since the two are linked I guess this is my least favorite mini-arc.
Character that everyone else in the fandom love, but I hate: I don't hate them, and I don't think everyone in the fandom love them, but I mostly dislike FCG. Like, I love Sam's jokes, but I find FCG irritating a lot of the time. But then, it was the same for Scanlan when I first watched Cr1. (also I'm. very ambivalent about the Greenseekers. and a bit surprised that the fandom latched onto them like that)
My "you're a piece of trash, but you're still a fave" fave: Miss Jiana Hexum please call me back <3 <3 <3
My "beautiful cinamon roll who deserved better than this" fave: no clue ! None of them are cinamon rolls and I can't think of a NPC who fits the bill.
My "this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul but I still love it" ship: hahaha so. Fearne/Birdie is a thing. that I wondered about. I wouldn't say I love it though, it's more of an idle thought.
My "they're kind of cute, and I low-key ship them, but I'm not too invested in them" ship: pretty much everyone still ? I'm gonna say Laudna/Asthon because while I think the ship has a lot of potential, I'm still more interested in Laudna/Imogen.
aaaand that's it ! I do feel like the fact that I had a truly hard time answering many of these questions at like, episode 32, tells something about the show, but I'm still not sure wether it's a bug or a feature (would love your take on that btw). I'm still curious to see where things go, but that may change with episode 33 and the next. We'll see !

Do you take Exandria Unlimited requests? Could I have some EXU crew x reader where their crush (the reader) suddenly pulls them in close in the middle/end of battle to give them a *smooch*? Just some mutual pining finally resolved? I love your writing btw! 💙💙💙
Some nice smooches in as much of an ExU disaster like way I could muster coming right up! Hope it turned out the way you wanted. 😘
(Dorian)
Remember what they say about not waking sleeping trolls? Yeah, that goes for real life too and no lullaby will put it back to sleep. Lesson of the day; trolls are not the right creature to ask for directions, Dariax… And trying to reason with it does not work if you do not speak the same language.
Dorian tried to calm it down, distract the troll enough for Dariax to get away but the fight was unavoidable at this point. Club and claws swinging at your group, dodging attacks left and right you did your best to keep the squishy spellcasters out of reach as best you could but there’s only so much you can do.
Dorian sings you a song strumming the strings of his lute as you have your legs wrapped around the troll’s neck and try to stab down but it’s moving too much and clawing at you to get you off. You give him a wink in thanks but are forced to release your hold as a flat palm swats at the back of the troll’s neck right where you’re hanging on. You let yourself glide off and land back on your feet, cutting at the creature’s legs.
“Dorian! While I appreciate your singing and epic battle music to accompany this whole fight; Get your ass over here and fight!” You shout over to the genasi as you dodge another claw swinging at you. In your dodge, the blow goes to Opal instead who’s knocked back a couple of feet into Orym. Both of them are out of range leaving just you in the thick of it. Great.
“Right with you, dear.” Dorian gulps. Guess he’s getting his hands dirty after all. As long as the creature’s filth doesn’t permanently ruin his clothes… He gets up next to you, you pull him down just in time to avoid the club coming for the both of you. The troll roars loudly.
“So what’s the plan?” Dorian asks readying his weapon.
“Attack.” You swing up but miss as the troll steps out of the way.
“That is a terrible plan.”
“Because serenading it to sleep wasn’t.” You sass. The troll swings its club again, overhead this time. You jump out of the way. Dorian gets the cue and dodges the attack, swings with his scimitar cutting the arm of the troll as it struggles to get its club out of the ground. You slide between its legs to the back, flanking. With a nod you slice at the back of its legs, Dorian slashes at its torso. The troll recovers, standing on its last leg, steps back nearly trampling you as it tries to put some distance between it and Dorian.
Seeking revenge for the scimitar to the chest from Dorian the troll frees its club and swings hitting him full force. The genasi is thrown off his feet onto his back looking at the raging troll dripping spit leaning over him to finish him off. Dorian crosses his arms in front of him in a final attempt to deflect as much of the incoming blow he can. That blow never comes.
Peaking through he sees the troll’s body collapsed on the ground, your blade sticking out of its back and you strutting over to him satisfaction and accomplishment written on your face. You offer Dorian a hand, pulling him to his feet. You don’t let go just yet.
“Good work.” You pat his cheek giving Dorian a quick peck on the lips leaving the genasi starstruck, a fury of questions directed at the both of you that’ll have to be left unanswered. It won’t be your last kiss so they’ll find out for themselves in time.
(Orym)
Let’s just get this out of the way, when you’re with a group of people that tend to piss off the many, you’re going to end up being chased by all sorts of people and creatures. While this may be a red flag for many, it’s not for you. Keeps things exciting and keeps you on your toes. If anything it’s great. Orym had gotten used to this fact and by the point he realised he needed to run before being sucked up into the chaos it was already too late.
So, when a banderhobb showed up in the middle of the night trying to steal you away and bring you to its creator, yeah… the event in the moment may have been a surprise but trouble catching up to you was not. The warm slimy embrace of a banderhobb wasn't exactly something you were looking forward to as it managed to grab you, one target to bring back to whoever sent it to gather up you and your crew.
“This is disgusting!” You squirm trying to free yourself from the creature’s hold on you before it can swallow you whole. You definitely do not intend to become the creature’s next meal nor are you going to come along easily. Seems like the orders are bring back alive or dead at this rate. The creature pulls you along into the shadows of night with it and you feel yourself fading into them and emerging on the other side of the battlefield.
“I can’t see it!” Orym shouts with every intention of getting you away from the creature. He needs you back on your own two feet, preferably somewhere you feel safer and out of the banderhobb’s reach.
You struggle against the creature, getting one of your arms free to reach for your components, speaking the words you touch the banderhobb’s frog-like throat area and it lights up revealing it, you and illuminating the surrounding area.
“This better?” The creature’s arms tighten around you, the words more like a squeak. It tries to pop off back to the shadows but finds itself unable to step back into them, illuminated by the light of your spell.
Orym takes his chances, runs at the banderhobb, blocks the incoming tongue with his shield, spins his sword and cuts at the creature’s arm. It squeals the grip on you loosens and you take your chance allowing yourself to shimmy out of the undesired ‘hug’ of the creature.
Orym offers you a hand and you allow him to pull you behind the safety of his shield as another strike comes for you both attempting to get you back within its reach. Eldritch blasts fire overhead as Orym cuts at the creature again.
“You good?” Orym asks watching from the corner of his eye to make sure you didn’t sustain any heavy damage, while keeping his focus on the fight. You nod. You’ve taken some hits but you’re still relatively fine. You focus on casting your next spell. Time to get rid of this thing.
With some difficulty you fight off the banderhobb. It takes it losses and runs before you can kill it. You’re sitting around the fire with the others and are doing your best to clean off the layer of slime left on you from the banderhobb but it’s not exactly going great. Orym comes up offering you a soaked rag to make your life a little easier and sits next to you offering you a quick smile and begins cleaning his own weapons and shield. A few minutes in you turn to him.
“Hey Orym?” The halfling looks at you, waiting for you to continue. “Thank you, for saving me.”
“It’s nothing…” You stop him.
“Not to me. Thank you.” You lean in and give him a kiss. The halfling blushes, clear for you to see even in the low light and looks around him to make sure no one caught on before giving you a kiss of his own. Despite the prior events, tonight was a good night. If it takes saving the day to earn more of those kisses of yours he’ll do it for the rest of his life, day and night.
(Fearne)
Lesson of the day; night hags? Not at all like the sweet old grandmothers living in that cottage in the middle of the woods you heard about. Learned that the hard way but mark your curiosity sated and regretful as you’re now dealing with a hag wanting to take some of your souls and turn your skin into a bag. Not so great. Today’s been a bad day for all of you.
When Fearne joked about her home and how in general you do not want to approach places like this found in the Feywild because you’ll be suffering for the rest of eternity or end up as a guest at the table you probably do not want to be at, you countered no such things really happen on this plane, they’re just stories to scare children to come home before dark. Not reality. You were proven wrong and as per the consequences, you get to fight off the night hag but you got this! It’s only one hag and there’s six of you!
Okay… five of you…. four…. three… two…. There’s two of you now. How did this happen? Turns out the hag is part of a coven. But hey at least you are still kicking and Fearne’s an expert on all things Feywild right? Then again, night hags were excommunicated to the lower planes…
You’re surrounded, your not so comfortably asleep friends are suffering from night terrors.
“Fearne, what do we do?” You’re a bit desperate, the hags closing in on you.
“Uhm… Oh, I don’t really know… Fight?” Fearne suggests, the indecisiveness clear. What are you supposed to do? Mister’s got an idea and that’s smudging excrements into Dariax’s hair. You feel another wave of sleep hit. This time you begin to feel weaker and weaker.
“Fearne, I don’t feel so good.” You lose balance and drop. You’re trying to fight the sleep but it’s too strong. Fearne feels the wave too but remains unaffected as of now. She looks at Mister, the hags and you sleeping. What is she supposed to do? She’s all on her own now surrounded by hags.
You told her about stories before, the fairytales, and as shown today they hold some truth. What was your favourite again? Right, the one where the hero saves the dragon after they were separated by the princess, and the hero kisses their dragon lover to wake them from their curse. Is that right? So if the stories at least has a core of truth maybe a kiss with wake you up?
Fearne debates, it’s not right to just kiss someone and while you’ve been close and had shared plenty of displays of affection, you’re stuck under a sleep spell now. But would you really want to be awake before a hag devours your soul or turns you into a stew or a bag? No, you’ll have to get out of here, all of you.
The Faun kneels down, brushes her hair to the side and hesitantly places her lips on yours. She pulls back but your eyes remain closed.
“Okay, maybe it just takes a second to work…” Fearne waits but still no response. She pats your cheek, shakes you and when you breathe in sharply, you open your eyes staring up at the faun, her face close to yours.
“Did you kiss me?” You ask more as a joke but when you see her grow more flustered you raise an eyebrow. Okay, you’re not at all opposed to that. The hags grow more frustrated and begin closing in on you and Fearne. Meanwhile, Mister slaps Dariax a little too hard and the dwarf sits up straight scared, seeing the hags and accidentally pushing Mister off him. The monkey gets the clue looking between Fearne, you, Dariax and the others. With a screech he rushes off and shakes, slaps, does anything to violently wake up the others. You’re back in the game.
You glance up at Fearne, make eye contact and place your lips on hers remaining, just a little longer. A little in the heat of the moment, but really, you kinda got robbed when she kissed you first and you didn't even get to experience it. A do-over seemed appropriate.
“Let’s do this more often, preferably without the audience?” You suggest.
“I’d like that.” Fearne helps you to your feet. With the others awake it takes but a few moments before the spells fly, weapons swing and you make your grand escape leaving the night hag coven far behind you. No more approaching cottages in the woods for any of you if you don’t know who or what lives there.
(Dariax)
You simply had to break into this building. You needed to steal some documents and of course you were the one sent to keep Dariax in check. Yes this is his thing, breaking and entering, and it would have been easy had you not accidentally stumbled upon the entrance to a secret lair. Despite all better judgement, not that you think you could have stopped the man from going in in the first place, you went in to see what was up.
What you found is a private collection of artefacts of all kinds from eccentric jewels to magical items and pieces of art this place is a treasury and of course some of these nice and shiny objects caught your attention. Now usually it’s very clear that you’re not supposed to touch anything and check for traps everywhere. That didn’t really drop for Dariax and of course he picked up the first fancy looking vase he saw.
What was previously a lovely metal statue of a bull became a fully moving, green smoking monstrosity. Bull meet china shop. You took cover behind any pedestals, stands and displays you could trying to make your way to the exit and avoid the angry bull but it’s cutting off your exit.
“Okay, you go left, I go right. We meet in the middle and book it back up the stairs.” Dariax suggests. You look around the corner and see the pacing gorgon.
“Look, I know we’re in a bad place but splitting up is not going to do us any good right now.” You glance around the room. There’s plenty of magical items around here. Something should help right and since Dariax already set off this trap, how much worse could it get at this point really?
“So you have a better plan?” Dariax is open for suggestions, clutches his spear. He’s not going to leave that baby behind and if this smoking bull comes at you two he’ll give it a taste of metal. Who knows, maybe it’ll be glorious.
“Magical items?” You gesture to the room around you. “There’s bound to be something useful.”
“What happened to the don’t touch anything rule?”
“That went out of the window when you set of the angry-definitely-trying-to-murder-us bull.” Dariax has to concede there.
“You make a solid argument. Take what we can and make a break for it.” He nods already eyeing the many objects in the room. He’s got some plans brewing already.
Those plans quickly went out of the window as the moment you two made a break for the nearest items the bull came charging at Dariax. Not having the space and opportunity to move out of the way the bull gores the dwarf up sending him crashing into more display cases and getting ready for a second attack. You grab a fine cloak from a display rack, jump onto a display counter and shout at the bull waving the cloak that already mysteriously blows in the nonexistent wind. That’s pretty neat.
“Hey you big ugly hunk of metal! Come and get me!” You shout at the gorgon who turns its attention to you with a puff of green smoke. You avoid the breath cloud it releases by jumping from one display to the next.
Dariax gets up and with a brief moment of eye contact and a nod you both rush towards the exit as quick as you can. You toss the clock over the gorgon’s face as you go, disorienting it for just enough to make your grand escape, closing the secret lair entrance as you go. Breathing heavily you fall against the door, arms full of objects.
“I’d say that was a productive venture.” Dariax nods to himself looking over the hand full of objects he took. You’re inclined to agree solely on the stuff you got.
“Maybe next time check for traps before touching anything?” You laugh.
“With all the stuff we got? I think you owe me for my ingenuity.” Dariax jokes. Yeah you got some possibly cool stuff but you’ll have to wait and see if it was worth him getting gored by a mechanical bull.
“I got a reward for you.” The corner of your lips lifts as you move your lips against his. Dariax drops a couple of the things he was holding and they clatter to the floor as he happily returns the favour, a little caught up in the moment. You pull away.
“That’s a pretty good reward.” Dariax breathes as you pick up the dropped items. Time to leave this place before you get caught.
(Opal)
Opal was already having a terrible day. Travel took the group through the swamp and she’s not having it. The humidity is terrible for her hair, the mushy swamp ground wreaks havoc on her shoes and don’t get her started on the bugs. All in all Opal and the swamp do not vibe at all. Can’t swamps be a little nicer? Sadly the answer, generally is no. You’d been trying to cheer her up but the mood was soured when a heap of rotting vegetation decided to try and eat Opal’s shoes.
“The swamp is trying to swallow me! Get me out! Get me out! Get me out!” Opal squirms as you rush over to grab the woman and pull her free from the vines beginning to wrap around her. The vines fight back and she tries to help you by cutting and stabbing at the vines wrapping around her legs and pulling her down.
“I’m trying, Opal! Will you stop squirming for just a second!” You grit your teeth and pull at the tendrils of forestation but you get next to do leverage as Opal keeps squirming. With an exasperated sigh you step back.
“What are you doing? Don’t let me get eaten by a sentient plant!” Opal’s half afraid you’re just going to leave her there but of course you won’t. You grab your sword take a few steps to the base where the vines sprout from. Smaller less developed vines begin to wrap around your own legs so here you grab your sword in both hands, count; one, two and three! You strike down with all your might into the ground. A pained squeal comes from beneath the muck and the vines go limp. You help Opal get out of the vines, no longer resisting and get her to her feet, pulling her along.
“Come on, hurry up. We need to get out of here.” Opal staggers as you pull her along mindful of any pools and tricky areas as you do not need the events of before to happen again.
“Why the sudden rush? I know I wanna get out of here as soon as possible but why the sudden change of heart? I thought you liked the swamp.” Opal complains. She’s fully aware you like the swamp just as much as she does but you’ve just not been vocalising your distaste.
“Look, it didn’t take much to kill one. Makes you wonder, if that was the baby, where’s the momma?” Opal pulls her nose up in distaste and picks up her pace a bit falling in line besides you.
“Wait! You didn’t know that would work?” Opal refers to your actions before in getting her out. What if it didn’t work and she got pulled below?! She could have been swallowed by the earth and gotten covered in the swamp muck!
“It was a calculated risk!” You pull to a sudden stop. “What’s that?” You whisper. Opal listens too but doesn’t hear anything. The ground pulses, with what can only be compared to the footfalls of a large creature. She looks around frantically. A large vine, more like tree trunk flies out at you and you pull her down.
“The swamp is trying to kill us! Why’s the swamp trying to kill us?!” Opal panics watching the huge hulking shape of twisted rotting vines and forestation glide in your direction.
“Less talking more running.” You take her hand in yours once more and take off running. Sometimes it’s better to avoid the fight.
In your run, Opal takes off a little ahead of you as you keep your eyes on the creature. Turning your gaze back up ahead you notice she’s almost about to run right into a bog. Since you’re already mid run and won’t be able to stop her in time you grab the back of Opal’s coat and pull her back. She stumbles but remains on her feet. As you do, a vine wraps around your leg and sends you falling into the dirty, wet, and stinky bog.
You’re covered in mud and duckweed and drenched to the bone. You’re not a happy camper as you quickly reach out to untangle the vine from your leg. Opal looks at you.
“You saved me?”
“No time to stick around. Thank me later.” You wipe your face as much as you can slapping the excess mud into the bog and lift yourself out back onto the ground. Two hands encase your cheeks and soft lips find yours. They pull back just as quickly as they came and you see Opal there smiling at you.
“I’ll thank you now. Shall we keep running? Because that thing is getting closer.” You both squeal and dodge as another tree trunk impacts not too far from you. You grab her hand and take the lead this time. Normally Opal would have squirmed at the muck covering your hands but she’ll worry about it later. Besides, isn’t mud like, so good for your skin?

CR Campaign 3 Episode 1 Liveblog 1/2
Probably gonna put the first half in one and the second half in another.
-Is that Mary Elizabeth McGlynn being his wife????? like that also doesn't really look like her but it has to be
-The set looks so good absolutely fuck off my friends
-Marisha???? why are you wearing that??? are you trying to kill me????
-Matt looks sooooo young 'cause he shaved his beard
-Travis and Marisha next to each other? big brain moves
-Ashley and Laura next to each other???? gonna fucking die
-is Matt talking faster than normal because i need him to slow down so i can take in every. single. detail
-DUET already????? someone was gonna be related, I SAID IT
-Laura is not a southern bell i swear to god
-Marisha's character is a Yasha cosplay lmao, and her accent/voice has absolutely fucking killed me
-i'm already shipping them and it only has to do with their character voices lmao
-call Imogen "darling" one more time, Laudna, istg
-is this leonin npc just John Mulaney? lmao
-Laudna is giving me BIG sara jessica parker in hocus pocus vibes
-ASHTON IS SOOOOOOO GENDER (also a Gen Z-er?????)
-a cleric warforged?????? (inserte BEYONCE???? meme)
-the fuck gender duo is something else
-we've got 2 southern accents which is one more than last time so my only theory so far is that in campaign 4, there will be 3 southern accents
-Somewhere in Exandria, Beau is bursting with pride and doesn't know why...its Ashton btw
-not to bring everything back to the Mighty Nein but currently we have off-brand, Yasha, Fjord, and Beau. I said what i said. do not come for me
-I know Sam (or Liam by proxy) is trying to troll, but Fresh Cut Grass is beyond the pale
-ROBBIE?????? ROBBIE????? THEY’RE ALREADY DOING GUESTS????
-love that they brought in an EXU character
-IS ASHLEY PLAYING FEARNE???? THE FUCK
-which would mean Liam is Orym???? honestly good for them
-not to be on my bullshit, but you give me Fearne and goth Laudna in the same campaign and i'm NOT supposed to ship another Marisha/Ashley pairing. okay, okay, okay fuck off
-the fact that this actually cements everything Aabria did in EXU and all the canon she made is sooooo awesome. like i know they said it, BUT, seeing it is come through is awesome!
-Fearne's hand and Laudna's hand. what is the connection???? the spider queen???? the raven queen???? need to know thank you very much
-Fearne just collecting the emblems of the gods as she goes
-Surprise! Travis isn't in this campaign
-was i expecting a battle in the first half? absolutely not, no way
-TRAVIS NEEDS TO BE A GODDAMN ARTIFICER BECAUSE SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE
-also, not to be throwing shit on Liam, but i'm really tired of him playing a moody boi, and Orym was the worst of them all. cause like Vax was moody af but charismatic, and Caleb was moody but intelligent and had cool magic shit, but Orym felt like fighter version of Caleb which is just a more boring moody boi and i don't know if i can do it for a whole campaign without losing my goddamn shit
-Matthew "snaps a mini in half in episode one" Mercer
-a grandpa???? in CR???? more likely than you think
-Bertrand Bell making a nice comeback????
-we straight up have not been paying any attention to this combat because we've been talking about our own game lore lmao but fighting furniture is by far a first game combat if i've ever seen one
-its wild for them to have pitched this as the easiest campaign to enter CR world and then have 4 PCs who were involved in previous stories lmao
-we were having a drinking game about what our character guesess were but i guess the three of us watching have to take a shot together now because we've been completely bamboozled by their lack of creativity. 2 fighters and 2 sorcerers? the fuck are we doing my dudes
-i lose my shit every time matt says fresh cut grass. don't know how he does it with a straight face
-not to be rude to travis but bertrand bell is the same accent as fjord right now
-"your fingers were drippin'" LMAO ROBBIE WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
-the fanart for Bertrand is just Travis in like thirty years
-one thing i never expected, this fucking presidency thing to come around again NO WAIT ITS GALE I JUST ASKED FOR THIS AND PRAYED FOR HER THANK YOU
Okay, well these are my thoughts on the first half. I'll add my thoughts on the second half as we go.

Okay spoilers for Ep 33/34 of Campaign 3 so it's a read more kinda post :) Rambles ahead, feel free to ignore.
You have been warned!
So I haven't watched the episodes yet, I'm still playing catch up, but I was partly spoiled by a YouTube recommendation (thanks for the spoiler in the vid title btw /extreme sarcasm) and partly curious so I just had to look up WHO DIES BC THEY ARE MY FAVES (they're all my faves at this point ngl)
And ooooooh boy. For some reason I expected Orym to die. He'd be with Will and other fallen friends and family again, be able to rest his head and not have to worry so much anymore (ofc I do not want any of them to die bc I love them all, but in my head it made sense y'know)
But Laudna. My fun scary girl. I love her so so much.
She's barely had a life and it's already been taken from her. I really want her back, but I'm unsure how that will go. (Keep in mind I don't know the full context yet of the tough battle Matt threw at them yet :))
There's gonna be so much potential for spiralling morality narratives and angst and revenge and unrealistic promises. Would she even be the same person if she came back? What could this spark within the party and their values? In Laudna herself? Would Delilah still be clinging onto her mind, would she have a stronger or weaker control over her body?
Or will the party just... Move on. She stays dead, hopefully finally finding some peace after years of loss and loneliness, after meeting a rag tag group who genuinely cared for her, after protecting people she loves. She won't become someone or something else, like Mollymauk and Lucien and Kingsley. She'll just remain as they remember her, as simply but amazingly Laudna.
That said, despite me being in mourning a few episodes behind the inevitable, I am excited for whenever whenever Marisha returns to the table.
Be it an NPC, guest character, or PC - I always look forward to an introduction. Whether Marisha will come back as Laudna (who in my opinion was her best character yet), or a completely new character, I am excited to see how/who she will play next.
