Original Jewish interpretation -> Samael is the name of an angel. This angel holds the title of 'Satan'. Not an ENEMY of God but an executioner of those who don't truly respect God and God's will. Is permitted, by God, to test God's followers and then punish them as Samael sees fit. That's why he's the tempter and the adversary, but Judaism ultimately regards him as a force for upholding Good.

Christian interpretation -> Samael was the name of a cherub who opposed God and was stripped of his status for it. Usually the opposition is because he didn't want to bow to Adam and acknowledge mankind as God's perfect creation. Upon Falling, he becomes the Adversary, Satan, and plots against God. Rules over Hell and his fellow demons.

How does Helel/Lucifer come into play here -> Lucifer is the Latin translation of Helel. Here it's used as sarcastic and derogatory, to remind someone once great of how far they had fallen from their upstanding position. Around Medieval/Renaissance times, Christians began to use Lucifer as another name for Satan. Even though it doesn't refer to Satan in the original context, the sentiment is the same, so they felt it was fitting.

Examples: John Milton gets this messed up, and uses Lucifer as Satan's angel name. Neil Gaiman does NOT get this messed up, and his Satan takes up the name Lucifer after becoming the Devil, with Samael being more or less treated as a deadname.

So. @quasar-crew made a post about all the fun fic ideas they've been thinking of and within that was an 'Everyone gets infected funtimes' au. It has consumed me.

Ashleys mutations mostly focus on allowing her to GET AWAY and doing it QUICKLY. Most of her time while infected with the Plaga is spent trying to get away from threats, so it responded to that when developing its 'improvements'. She's mostly based off of the Novistador enemies found in the later levels.

Her clawed feet allow for climbing and perching on small objects. Armor extends up the leg because lets be real bro. I saw Jacksepticeyes playthrough theres no way her legs didnt at least get OCCASIONALLY grazed by wayward bullets from Leon trying to shoot whoever is carrying her away. NEVER AGAIN. Her armor is not as strong as I would imagine Leons is because it needs to be light enough to allow her to fly.

The Novistador's only have three fingered 'hands' so that translates over by only mutating three of her fingers. She has mandibles but they're mostly meant as a last resort self defense, along with her new sharp teeth (TEEF. TEEEEEEEEEFFFF). They don't move much beyond slight up and down motions. She also has a nictitating membrane that rests on the edges of her eyes when not in use. It activates after she blinks (think like a windshield wiper clearing away debris) and also covers her eyes when she's flying. This does impede her vision a little bit, so its best for her to find somewhere to rest if she's up there to spy.

Ashley has considerably less armor than Leon because 1. thats not the focus of her mutation. the focus is allowing her to get away from threats and 2. because she needs to remain light enough to actually get in the air. Her wings are extensions of the Plagas legs that have shifted to rest more on its back than its sides. That way its less strain on her back muscles (shoulders are already so fuckin complicated bro). They move in more of an x motion than an up and down. The best thing to compare them too would be a hummingbird. I briefly considered looking to dragonflies and their flight, which led me to this very cool video but I think she's just too large for that to work. Her wings have no bones in them, instead relying on the Plagas strong exoskeleton (carcinization strikes again) to keep her lightweight but strong. In theory, if she practiced enough, she should be strong enough to just. Pick an enemy up, lift them into the air, and then drop them.

Her antennae are controlled by a small tendon anchored just above her ears. They act to gather extra sensory information. They can detect smell, temperature (fire chaser beetle style babyyyy), and they are sensitive to touch which allows her to sense wind direction when she's flying up high. When in a situation where too much is going on, they will flatten back to try and avoid sensory overload. It's like when you turn down your car radio to see a parking spot better.

Also, because I forgot to draw it sometimes, the armor on her back wraps around her neck to protect more of her main veins and arteries. Plus, no more choking so thats a bonus.

And heres just. Some random doodles because I ended up really enjoying drawing her (bonus Leon with an awkward cutoff because idk how I want to draw his feet yet. Some kind of fucked up digitigrade deal most likely I just haven't figured out the details.)

First of all, I just want to say. I called it lol

Finally an sskk face off since the sacrifice. I am going insane. I can’t articulate all my thoughts rn but something about the way Atsushi aimed a kick at Akutagawa that he fully expected the guy to block (because they know each other’s usual fighting styles!!!) only for it to connect and hurt him; Atsushi begging Akutagawa to recognize him because even if he still can’t consciously admit it, Atsushi has become convinced that Akutagawa wouldn’t be attacking him like this if he knew it was him; pleading for him to snap out of it and demanding to know why he saved him aghhhhh I’m going feral we know the reason Atsushi we know whyyyyy

I can’t believe it actually. We are at the point where sskk do not want to genuinely hurt each other. Atsushi attacked only out of self defence and was taken aback by actually breaking his wrist. Akutagawa refused to kill Atsushi in the Fukuchi fight and Atsushi is now convinced he’d stop attacking if he recognized him. Holy shit. Oh my god.

And Sigma badass moment! My boy, he pulled through! Either him or Chuuya had to break the stalemate; hell yeah, validation. Wasn’t there a meme someone made? “Prison arc -> prison arc if Sigma still had a gun”? Well Sigma’s got a gun and things are picking up babyyyy! His retort to Fyodor was quite possibly the funniest thing he could’ve said in response. Just completely shut him down. Using what he’s learned running the empty home Fyodor previously tried to buy his trust with. Beautiful. ADA Sigma real??? (I think the story will have to acknowledge his very public involvement with Taneda’s shooting and the acts of terrorism the Hunting Dogs now know he is responsible for… so I’m not sure how that will go but I’d like to see him end up with the Agency tbh… so long as it makes sense.)

Things I did not expect:

Mysterious note left in Russian??? It could be Mykola I suppose but… why? What happened? If he’s actually in trouble I doubt he’d need help escaping. Is it a trap? But what for? Alternatively… could it be Pushkin? He was in Meursault initially right? We never found out what his connection was. It could be a new Russian author too! Intriguing! There’s also the matter of it being written in Russian in the first place - who is it meant for? Sigma specifically? Or is it meant for someone else who speaks Russian?

Dazai is actually injured! I was certain he had something ready to get out on his own but I like this much better. Tbh I know this sounds bad but I’m actually way more invested now that Dazai has a broken leg and Fyodor was just shot. There’s higher stakes, you know? Damn though. I think Dazai’s injuries are. Worse. He’s being terribly self-sacrificial, and is apparently going to face off against Chuuya next time we see him. I do think now the stakes would be too low if Chuuya was completely free of the brainwashing tbh… I’m hoping for a double “I know you’re in there” fight between skk and sskk. Not that Dazai can do much physically but his strength has always been with words anyways, and I am certain Chuuya’s already fighting back. And I know Atsushi will reach Akutagawa. Manifesting sskk reunion where they challenge Fukuchi again and win this time via the power of unbreakable trust (delusional).

Sigma asks Fyodor “WHAT are you?” Which is interesting, and I’m hoping will acknowledge the way Fyodor doesn’t seem to age… but also intriguing is the “getting closer” part on the side which implies he’s not quite right. I think Fyodor will still turn out to be human tbh (it’d be weird otherwise, thematically), but now I’m starting to lend a little more weight to that theory about a Fyodor double…

Well anyways. This was a lot. I’m going to helplessly whir about it for a bit now.

I was rewatching the bad batch s3 trailer when I noticed a few things, more notably the background here:

That's Pabu, note the large mountain- but how could the empire find it? It's simple. They didn't. Episode 5: The return hints that we see an old friend or enemy, my guess is that it's tech. Hemlock saying that the goggles were all he could salvage must have been a lie. He **stole** Tech's body and has done something to it, leading to his "identity crisis" (episode 10). Back to talking about Pabu though- How did they find it? Tech did. Tech's brain is being used similar to that of Echo's for information, but with the host body (Tech) being used by a false identity forged by Hemlock as an experiment. This is why he's past the "Point of no return", he's trapped inside his mind like a virus that's taken hostage of the body; he's stuck and he needs CF99 to set him free again. I've seen people say that the person in the front is Crosshair, but he's being held captive on whatsitcalled so it can't be him.

Okay, so I've been thinking---what if the "treasure" that they're supposed to be finding, is this coffee shop itself???

It is a "Hidden Gem," after all....

You know how, when the thief first showed up, he said that most people couldn't recognize what a true treasure is? I think that can apply to this coffee shop; it isn't super well known, and because it hasn't been getting as much business lately, its true worth isn't being recognized.

So, what if this Phantom Thief guy (who might be a yokai and thus have known about this coffee shop for a while) put together this whole game to bring attention to this place, so it will get more business again, and the old guy running the place will find a decent apprentice?

Idk, just a theory. We'll see if it's completely wrong or not.

Custom!AU was co-created by me and my (platonic) husband EZM !! (check them out on YT, they make cool content!!), starting out as a simple silly roleplay over in the Eddsworld RP game on ROBLOX! I was.. Definitely not expecting it to turn into a full fledged AU with lore, but here we are!

The AU revolves around two things! One being Clone Theory and the other being the Multiverse! Their main issue at the moment is the clones, who have definitely screwed their lives over a bunch..

Currently in lore, Red Leader (Clord) has begun his attempt to take over the UK, having already taken over a few surrounding countries such as Norway, Sweden, Finland and (I think) France. Not fun at all!

I'll definitely talk more about it later, but I feel like this is enough for now!! :3

First of all, you are a genius! I can’t believe the way your words were converting to an actual TV scene in my mind d, with cut and editions, the whole thing!

I could see Carmy finding the file with Mike's writing and the pictures and I could feel and see his distress with every picture he saw! My friend you are a genius 🙌🏽

Ok on to the theories:

After reading it again, because the first got me too angry to process anything, it is clear that Tony was pretty involved in Mike’s recovery program, but how much? I didn’t connect the nickname “Chip” until I read in one of the comments that it was because of the chips the program gives to the person once they get to a certain goal, so this makes me think that she was in the program (being a first respondent puts a lot of stress, anxiety and trauma on those poor people) and that is how they met.

And I think they were so close because either she was his sponsor, buuuut, those photos give me the tingles because if he was the one getting the goals then Chip would have made him carry the cupcake. After all, it’s his celebration, so maybe he was his sponsor? And she being in recovery could be the reason she is no longer a paramedic, maybe she got busted and could no longer be one? And would be also the reason she disappeared when Mickey died because she didn’t realize how bad was it for him because he focused on her recovery. Not to mention the hero complex Chip probably has, there is a reason Chip was a paramedic and now is a fix-it-all all 🤷🏽‍♀️

Oh god the next but is going to be so hard and painful… ok last comments:

I didn't believe everyone over here theorizing that was the secret, despite the signs, until the episode aired and all hell broke loose over here in fandom.

This time I have learned my lesson and I'm mentally preparing myself for them to make stupid choices.

I actually thought the secretly married for the insurance theory was plausible but then people talked me out of it.

But like... I just don't see Carlos happily getting married right after his father died? Or Andrea being all happy if her husband just died? Or Carlos' sisters and their families? A wedding is the LAST thing on your mind after losing a loved one - especially in Carlos' case when he's always had such a complicated relationship with his father.

Stars Fading But I Linger

Auron has been referred to as a “dreamer of dreams.” He has a passion for writing and creating stories. However, the Auron we know now is jaded and unmoved (or at least that’s the impression he wants to give off.) “Life has not been fair to any. Fairness is a dream conjured up by those naïve enough to believe we live in a world where things don’t have to be taken if you want them.” He rose to his current position through ambition and holds high standards for himself and those he surrounds himself with. This height of hubris may give us clues to where this character came from and where he's going.

Auron is associated with tower imagery. The most obvious is the large painting of a tower behind his desk, as seen in the Holiday Party episode. However, there are other mentions and hints of towers as well. Auron’s office appears to be high above the city, mimicking the lofty space. His listener is referred to as “Rook,” short for rookie. The rook chess piece resembles a tower. After their argument, Faust muses “I wonder, brother, from your ivory tower can you see anything down here? You’re so out of touch.” 

Around the world, tower’s are symbols of hope and promise. They signify wealth and act as waypoints as well. However in media, towers can evoke a sense of isolation, loneliness, and foreboding. They may also represent the hubris and ego of a character or group of characters. The tower card in tarot holds the meaning of “sudden change, upheaval, chaos, revelation, awakening,” as well as “unforeseen catastrophe.” (Also of note: The tower card immediately follows the devil in the major arcana. The devil is associated with “shadow self, attachment, addiction, restriction, sexuality,” in addition to “disruptive revelation.” This may tie into Faust’s “deal with the devil” that gets references a few times. Thought that was neat.)

Auron's entire operation is beginning to show cracks. His head of talent has been fired after several failed ventures, and both Derek and Jessie threaten the power he holds over his illegal activities. On top of that, Auron has closed himself off, an example of which is distancing himself from his coworkers during social gatherings. He is just now beginning to open up to Rook. Auron's cool veneer slips after a brief argument with his brother. He admits he has a habit of indulging in temptation behind closed doors, and during the ride home from dinner with Rook he states “I would choose me over everything else.”

These story beats parallel Source Finn’s struggles and current state of mind. Finn is overworked and under scrutiny by the highest power in his realm. He keeps himself busy with his duties as a steward, remaining isolated in his tower to continue his work. After he begins meddling with the Dreamers—an act which he reprimanded his partner for long ago—he can’t stop himself. Left to his own devices, Finn persists. Both are avoiding close relationships, and both became involved in the Bittersweet trio's unexpected Christmas roadtrip.

We can even take a step further into speculation territory. All of this can be used to make the argument that Auron has a strong connection to Finn and the magics he has been experimenting with; if not the Auron in the story at present, then a Source Auron prior to passing on to the world Bittersweet take’s place. He could have been responsible for creating or first discovering the garden of dreams that Finn continues to tend to. This would give greater gravity to him being a "dreamer of dreams" that created worlds with second chances. However, the responsibility or the effects of indulgence became too much, and eventually he became a dreamer himself. Maybe he was Finn’s predecessor, or maybe he was that fellow steward that worked alongside Finn, and all that remains now are unconscious memories of lost dreams and a tower that foreshadows inner and external turmoil.

Anyway about Liam

I've just.....I've just been feeling so insecure and feel like I'm numbing and as I'm uncovering more of this trauma more of the suppressed stuff I'm realizing how much of my childhood, my parents, the way my parents dealt with things, the way we dealt with our parents it translates so much into how i turned out and why i hate myself so much. Now im remembering times with Liam and seeing him in a new light

Because when we started getting stoned together it was some of the first time he had talked about that stuff about his childhood and his family and we were getting so deep. And I thought I was too.... but regardless

He was going back to his place and calling his sister who also smoked and they were having 3 hour cry sessions rehashing everything

So now I'm picturing him in the same numbing state that I feel myself in now and it makes so much sense as to why things played out the way they did

I always thought I understood bc we're so similar and I was also so depressed and healing insecurities

But....lmao I don't know how to explain it. It was a DIFFERRNT kind of depressed and dealing with insecurities

And at the time of course I saw him in flashes of color while in front of me in tears. I wondered why life felt so hard on his shoulders. Why couldn't we just relax and have fun and smoke and make stupid jokes while the sun goes down every day forever.

Why can't he just realize that he doesn't have to DO all this and FIX all this ?? He's fine now, ill help him do it

And now I feel like I've never hated myself more, I have so much to process, my thoughts scare alone scare me, I'm foggy and blurry and permastoned, and I've lost my meds, I HATE my body and I can't shower and I still live with my parents

The idea that he even could've thought I had it all figured out scares me

And i can understand why, when he felt like this he couldn't get into a relationship.....with me

I know I know it's a hard sell. The evil morty in my head is always gonna keep him from sucking his dick too hard

But idk I really do believe I was a victim of the "cab theory" or whatever when boys meet someone they know they'd marry and do life with but they just aren't ready.

The idea that he even could've thought I had it all figured out scares me

Ok, now that I've had time to process and think, I am of the opinion that Thursday night's tpk was not only planned, but LONG overdue.

Ok that might sound crazy, because no sane dm would ever force a party tpk, but I think there's something more going on here.

I've made jokes that this campaign seems MUCH more deadly than previous ones by wide margins. Almost every single fight has had someone going unconscious or near death. At the very least, every major fight has. Let's run through them: the Dugger fight knocked out 3 witches out, the mimic wall nearly got Orym and Imogen (and would have if Robbie didn't nat 20), the Ira fight knocked Dorian and Orym (which would have been worse if Ira didn't dip), the Shade mother fight was hopelessly unwinnable but no one got knocked unconscious, the plant on the way to the Heartmoore got Laudna and almost Ashton, and while the party never fought Yu/Dusk, that could have been REAL bad.

The encounters this campaign have been beyond deadly, and imo the reason we haven't seen a tpk yet is because some of the best DND players are the cast of cr. They're smart with their abilities and know when to run. I think Matt has been trying to cause a tpk but this was the first time when it succeeded.

Why Matt has been trying to cause a tpk might have something to do with the luxon and Imogen's powers (I am of the opinion the luxon is in the moon btw). I think that Imogen accepting her powers will cause a rift in time and they will start the next episode some amount of time in the past. We know dunamis is capable of time travel and if the luxon is connected to Imogen's powers, it's a semi logical conclusion. Besides, fights like the shade mother and ira would probably be winnable now at level 7, rather than level 4. Additionally, there were a TON of plot threads Matt threw out in early game, a lot of which are going to fall away in favor of chasing down the moon. But what if the cast is going to be reliving the same 2(ish) months running up the solstice and tpk-ing every time they get too close only to get thrown back a few weeks, power up, learn more info, and return stronger than ever.

This theory is kinda pulled out of my ass, but I had this idea and I kinda love the idea of trying to tell a story this way. Time loops provide an interesting way to get through every plot thread the cast wants to without taking any player agency away. Anyways, maybe I'm super off base here but I think I'd be more fun than "it was all a dream".
