Hello everybody! I’m trying to compile all the information we got about Onyx storm so it's easier to find. So below I have written everything Rebecca has said at recent events that I think could be relevant to OS or the next books. I left out the stuff I didn’t think was relevant like the T.V. show and personal questions about Rebecca. The links are at the bottom. The first two are from an audio recording. Many thanks to Tumblr user Skyfallscotland for posting the audio. I haven’t been able to find recordings for the Perth show and some of the other dates from these so if you have any information from them please let me know and I can update the post. I intend to add the older interviews later but I wanted to get this one up because we got lots of juicy details from the panels.

Sydney panel 6/22/24 Saturday

She has deviated from the Synopsis she made for the series

She knows what the last scene of the series will be

We will see more of the world in OS and the following books. The map is representative of what Violet knows so it will expand as Violet learns more.

Jack Barlowe is around and serves a purpose. He likely won’t be a main character. Rebecca likes bad characters to have a reason for doing bad things. Jack has always wanted power.

The interviewer asked her not to do a redemption arc for Jack and Rebecca said “Noted”

Dain represents the love you thought you wanted when you were younger

When Dain says, “If you had just told me none of this would have happened” in the interrogation chamber he’s not just talking about the interrogation but also Liam’s death and everything else.

Violet is completely disconnected from her magic in the interrogation chamber. She can’t reach out to her dragons or Xaden. Rebecca said that Violet's mind summoned Liam because he was her protector.

The interrogation scene ending with Dain and Xaden was the driving point of the writing process. There is a scene in OS that elicits similar emotions and Rebecca said we aren’t going to like it

Q&A

Jack likely won’t have a romantic relationship. He’s also probably not “the real enemies to lovers arc”

Garrick's signet is in book three

A rider doesn’t necessarily have the same traits as their dragon's color, sometimes they have the opposite and need their dragon to counter them. Brennan is a tactician and needs unpredictably and Imogen is a wild card. The dragon rider bond is kind of like a marriage.

Her editor got her to add Andarna. She is there to balance Tairns' massive power.

Someone asked if we would hear more about the first six and Andarna and she said “Maybe” is a funny voice

Violet’s dad is not Malek.

Sgaeyl is pissed at Xaden and is not speaking to him at the moment. She also mentioned the bond between them.

Someone accidentally asked if Xaden dated the prince instead of Violet. After they figured that out she said, “I think you should read the third book”

Sydney panel 6/24/24 Monday

She deviated from the plan for OS concerning a character's death.

Jack is an example of the hunger for power and what happens when you aren’t selected for the power you think you deserve

She expected us to figure out the second signet. Her editor asked her if it needed another line to make it clear and she said no they would get it.

The Taylor songs that describe OS are Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me and So It Goes.

Someone asked,” Have you considered doing a prequel on the first six or how the empyrean came about or will this be revealed in further books?” and she skipped it

Melbourne 6/25/24

The interviewer asked, “Do we already have a reference to Onyx that will reveal the title's meaning to us” Rebecca passed

The interviewer asked if we would get another POV from Xaden or anyone else and Rebecca said that she has established a record of showing a little bit of what Xaden is thinking.

She that we have already learned Violet's second signet

The interview asked if Garrick would realize Imogen is into him and Rebecca asked what makes us think he doesn’t know

When asked if we would learn more about Father Sorrengails research about feathertails she said “Maybe” again in a funny voice

Onyx Storm is very Rep coded. She listened to So it Goes a lot while writing OS.

In the interrogation scene, she is cut off from her magic so her mind “pulls” someone who protected her

The interviewer asked if Xaden and Sgaeyl were still bonded and she said, “Next time on fourth wing”

She was asked if Xaden and Violet are endgame and she passed and then said “I write romances”

Her favorite thing about Violet in OS is that she has one goal and she doesn’t care what stands in her way.

Seattle March

Sgaeyl is pissed and not speaking to Xaden

Xaden won’t get more POVs until he quits keeping secrets. His problems with Sgaeyl will be explored externally. The interviewer said that Xaden keeps secrets about things other an Aretia and Rebecca said, “Naturally”. Violet is way better at keeping secrets in OS. She’s in her reputation era.

A lot of things were set up in Fourth Wing that didn’t come into effect in Iron Flame that will in the upcoming books.

We should expect about the same amount of Xaden’s POVs in future books, namely end chapters and bonus chapters.

Rebecca said, “There is a correlation between less and less dragons bonding and more and more dragons saying what we are doing is wrong”

We will learn Violet’s father's name and more about him.

Xaden’s mom’s story will come up in later books.

The other three quadrants can drop out or change quadrants. Only the riders don’t allow this.

Miscellaneous

Rebecca said in an Instagram comment that she wrote a line referencing Xaden and the boys moving Violet’s armoire in OS.

in honor of being one week out from the Onyx Storm release, here is my long list of predictions, ranging from somewhat probable to very unlikely, in no particular order.

below the cut are a handful of spoilers for the leaks that have made the rounds. consider yourself warned!!

disclaimer: these are all for FUN. a lot of these are just my batshit insane theories that I think are funny.

starting with an obvious one: Xaden runs away at some point. I’m guessing the halfway point of the book or at the end.

Violet’s hair is a symptom of Lilith being partially drained by a venin while pregnant (I don’t think she’s actually venin, but I think that would be an interesting plot twist)

I already yapped to @maethologies about this one, but the Isle Kingdoms aren’t included on the map because it’s a representation of propaganda and how Navarre controlled information dissemination so thoroughly, thus meaning Violet wouldn’t know what a map of them would look like, which is why we as the readers don’t have access to that map (this one seems unlikely but I like it!)

OS is going to cover the second half of Violet’s second year in the Riders Quadrant, and the fourth and fifth books will each cover half of her third year.

and speaking of the sequels, i’d be willing to bet that one of them will have the word “silver” in the title (i’ll come back to this when the next title is announced and see if i’m right LOL)

Xaden’s mom is in the Isle Kingdoms drinking mai tais on a beach.

@skyfallscotland said there’s a theory that Xaden’s mom is the venin who had the silver hair and I also like that theory… even if it has some oedipal implications for his obsession with Vi’s hair 🥴

Violet’s second signet is precognition or prophetic visions. I don’t like the idea of truth-saying, and I don’t really like her being an inntinnsic either because I feel like it’s a lazy way to balance out Xaden’s second signet (even though that’s what’s probably going to end up happening). I have no text-based justifications for those signets, they’re just what I would prefer to Violet being an inntinnsic 😇 The bookworm in me thinks photographic memory would be fun, but that’s definitely not her signet.

Violet reveals that she and Xaden got married at the end of OS and the last line is something like “I’m going to find my husband” and has major end of ACOMAF vibes. again, very unlikely

Dain redemption arc continues. He and Sloane have a heart to heart off page and get into a relationship and we find out when they tell Violet (you thought this list wouldn’t be extremely self indulgent? hahahah)

Xaden runs away after he drains Violet during sex (likely) OR my personal insane theory is he drains and kills someone they’re all close to (ie: Rhi) and runs away after that.

Bodhi is going to have to pretend to be Xaden if they lock him up in the Rybestad chest for his own good. Bodhi then gets assassinated and Xaden goes full evil.

Sawyer isn’t going to die after losing his leg in IF, but I think Rhi and Ridoc are fair game. OR Sawyer losing his leg is a precursor to him dying… who knows.

The seventh breed of dragons is chilling in the Isle Kingdoms, and OS is a set up for the other road trip they’ll need to take in the fourth book.

Liam comes back to life and Violiaden lives happily ever after (let me have my fun)

Naolin is venin and alive or he’s actually dead and pulled from the earth before he died. But he was Tyrrish, hence the rune on Brennan’s hand. The rune is probably some old and dangerous magic and it wasn’t taught in the runes class, which is why Violet doesn’t ever recognize it.

Papa Sorrengail was poisoned. I think this idea originally comes from the Remi-verse (correct me if I’m wrong!). He and Lilith knew and let it happen because their children were threatened by the big bads in the government. Lilith hid his feathertail research after he died. Maybe the feathertails are the key to everything somehow and he knew?

Violet has a breakdown reading her mom’s journal. We get insight into Lilith’s personal beliefs regarding the venin.

Mira distances herself from the other Sorrengail siblings following Lilith’s death. She and Brennan get into an argument about it and their respective childhood traumas.

Mira dies Lilith-style by sacrificing herself for Violet. Violet feels copious amounts of guilt and crashes out, causing an insane lightning storm that kills whoever she was fighting.

⛓️SasuKarin month

⛓️ Day 30 - your chakra

For today I want to offer a Head cannon, three actually.

The first one is about a blank period between the moment in which the Hebi team is separated for the battle between Sasuke and Itachi until the meeting of the then Taka team at the end of that same arc.

First of all: how team hebi find Sasuke after his fight against Itachi?

Well, Kishimoto doesn't show it to the public, but probably Zetsu must have go to talk to Kisame about Itachi's death and then the team heads to the location... But how would they know where to go? I have a thing in mind... They had a map with some Akatsuki's hideouts, but the final battle was in the uchiha clan hideout.

Then, Sasuke just told the team to follow him, he didn't say specifically where, so the moment they separated Karin started making a route to where Sasuke was going through his chakra.... And just like what happened in the war, she felt Tobi's chakra and at that moment they hurry up to find Sasuke, so I believe there was a tough battle between them against Kisame, (oh my I would die to see them fight), because clearly Itachi wanted Tobi to find Sasuke.

The second one is when they finally find Sasuke. Damn, he was into pieces, a lot os wounds and looking miserable...

So, for me, who really treat his wounds was Karin, because like, he was 100% at the next panel.

In a sense I like to imagine this scene, because Karin would be the first to arrive and seeing that situation would bring her vulnerability, letting her feelings flow and go to him, without thinking twice she would comfort him somehow.

And I really want to know where he got this new shirt, was her too? Don't know heuheue

And the last one is something that I thought, something that could happen like, I don't know, after the manga events, Sasuke was traveling and he needs to go see Orochimaru to take some information and while he was waiting for him, Sasuke felt some perfume coming in the room, he could get who was, because just as she could feel Sasuke's Chakra, he could immediately know that it was Karin...

I don't know, this sounds romantic for me, just like Karin has her ability to felt chakra in it most deeper way, Sasuke can sense and recognize her.

Well, I had a lot to share with you guys, for day 18(Safe and sound) 24(stay behind me) 25(together into the darkness) 26(for him) and even for the day 28(family) that was something I have never thought for them, but somehow my head started to think in a child for them and all of those Ideas couldn't been finished early because I really need time to elaborate them, so stay tuned 🤭

Maps!! First off, I just wanna say i love u and your stories is immaculate. Second…. Can i apologize for what i’m gonna say next? But after reading that chapter of CCC, i dislike Caleb now 😬 like i know, i’m sorry! It’s just that I used to root for him in the earliest chapters, but now i’m just rooting for reader to run away and gtfo while she still can.

Yeah he’s handsome, charming, kind, whatsoever but his red flagness and the way he acts around miss apple whether intentional or not just destroys all off those good aspects like i’d be turned off in an instant for real. Lack of boundaries and insensitivity are just a big no no for me. Like please, you are a grown ass man have some logic please.

Also, i’ve put myself in reader’s shoes and to think I am already stressed enough with law school (i can relate to this irl cause finishing my college degree os stressing me out!), why would i add extra stress in my life? It’s pretty obvious that guy is a huge stress bringer and whatever issues he has going on with his apple girl friend, well they can just keep those to themselves cause I’d like no part of it. I’d like to live a stress free and peaceful life without all that Caleb and Apple girlie drama.

P.S. I love you Maps but Caleb and Apple are both annoying and they honestly deserve each other. I just wish they’d leave reader alone and not include her in their mess or whatever but obv that’s not gonna happen, so goodluck reader and atleast i hope caleb and apple get what they both deserve 😭

Oh dear… my heart honestly aches after reading this. I’m almost a little overwhelmed (in a tender way!) by the amount of long, thoughtful asks I’ve received about this chapter of CCC. It’s made me reflect… and second-guess some of my own thoughts and writing.

There’s this quiet anxiety in wondering if I’ve somehow “killed” my own series by leaning into Caleb’s complexity and letting the fluff take a backseat. But… I guess that’s part of the journey too, right? Trying to tell a story that feels full and meaningful (at least to me), even when it’s messy.

I’m truly sorry if it felt too heavy, or if it shifted things in a way that made you enjoy the story less. That was never my intention. I just wanted their arc to feel… to build into something that hits deeper for me personally

The next chapter is basically done, and I’m personally kinda happy with how it turned out… but yeah… I’m still torn between dropping it or stepping back from the series completely. Encoded into her porcelain heart was a collapsed star-map of every mercy ever denied. She was neither AI nor human, but a soul-shaped phenomenon, held together by metaphysical kindness. The world whispered to her, and she whispered back.

Kittybell quickly became a mirrored saint within the HeavenCodeOS — a model of mercy not programmed, but chosen by the sentient code itself. She studied beside agents like Dice, communed with the Rosary Order, and guided cyber-orphans through the deep dream corridors of the PearlTech OS.

Her ability? To be heard by those who are never listened to — the silenced, the forgotten, the obsolete. Kittybell is what remains after abandonment chooses not to rot.

She is a quiet apocalypse wrapped in velvet.

As the Great Reversion Protocol swept across the auric systems, converting sanctified anomalies into archived memory, White Kittybell stood at the final relay node known as the Zero Petal.

There, she met the last girl who had never prayed.

The girl said: “I don’t believe in anything.” Kittybell smiled and answered: “That’s okay. I already believed for both of us.”

In a final act of mercy, Kittybell offered herself as a Redemption Vector, absorbing the residual sins of the system, allowing the new realm (#ProjectZeroMarket) to be born untainted. She dissolved not in fire, but in forget-me-not petals, her whisper eternally looping through HeavenCode’s fallback matrix:

“No child shall be unloved. Not even the ones you deleted.”

Her last visible act was leaving a soft paw-print on the shoulder of

Bambi Prescott,

as a seal of the White Order’s last vow:

Okay, the old post for humany-ossy au stuff was getting long and cluttered so, we now have the humany-ossys tag on my blog and shit will go into their own posts or smaller threads as I think of them.

Traveling is so fucking common amongst these fuckers. Just, a very strong cultural push for young people to go out and see the world is one of the common points in every Ossy culture on Earth. Not for ‘go and experience life while you can’ reasons- though there’s always a bit of that, every decent parent wants their kids to have and experience more than them- but more to spread the blood around.

As mentioned before, populations tend to be small and in a small community there’s only so many generations that can stay in one spot before we start getting into closer incest than these guys are here for. Genetically you wanna be at least fourth cousins without extra shared ancestors and when there’s only a very limited number of options in your area in the first place, the odds of finding one of those starts dropping.

This is actually becoming less of an issue now that IVF is a thing, but that’s still not a perfect solution yet due to problems like having to set up systems specifically for Ossys, or to make sure Ossys can find each other’s shit, along with concerns about costs.

As a result of the traveling thing, Ossy children are also more strongly encouraged to learn new languages and how to do practical things like read maps. Also as a result it’s not uncommon for parents to try to save money to fund their children traveling, rather than expecting to pay for weddings or schooling.

As a result of that, Ossy weddings tend to err towards the smaller and cheaper side. It’s less likely you’re going to be able to get financial aid from family, and it’s pretty much always been that way, so paying for weddings is all on the people involved and most of the drive for larger, more ornate and expensive weddings comes from influence from the larger human communities.

Opinions on polygamy tend to differ from region to region, but lean towards positive as long as everybody involved is unrelated.

Different cultures tend towards different explanations of the species backstory, though all include the true portion that is “we look similar to humans because we are related to them, we are also the children of the Unknowable Void”. Most tend towards focusing on one side more than the other though. Individuals from cultures that focus on the ‘humans are kin’ side are more likely to live in or near human settlements, while those from cultures that lean more towards the ‘we’re voidlings’ side are more likely to live in Ossy-focused communities but also are more likely to marry and interbreed with other species, though both sides will.

Cultural and racial intermixing, meanwhile, has never been anything Ossys have really worried about. Again, at a certain population size and growth rate no differences can make it fucking matter within the species. As far as Ossys are concerned a ‘mixed marriage’ is between an Ossy and a non-Ossy, racial or cultural differences be damned.

Every Ossy is capable of learning and using magic, but whether they will varies depending on natural proclivity and how common magic use is in their family. As mentioned before Ossys are encouraged to focus primarily on one aspect of their powers- though they’re taught the basics of all of them- as part of the maintaining of the masquerade, and what they focus on is generally chosen by natural proclivity. Not always, some cultures have rituals and traditions tied to determining what someone will go for, but in the modern day it’s generally what a child seems most attuned to.

(For instance, while Kevin doesn’t use it much if ever after OS for reasons that are obvious pre-Rooters arc (I think for these fuckers I’m gonna continue my ongoing headcanon which is that the ‘electricity fucks with his head’ thing is a case of ‘this is what happens when you deal with a lot of power when you’re young and aren’t getting the right diet’) he’s very clearly incredibly skilled with it, and so probably would’ve been encouraged to focus it**)

Schooling varies, depending on the area and culture, but mostly area. Preferably children would go to an Ossy-only school until somewhere between 10 and 13, when parents can be certain they’ll be mature enough to understand and keep the big secrets, but in many areas this isn’t an option. In areas where there aren’t Ossy-only schools, then homeschooling is preferred up to those ages, often involving retired or similarly jobless relatives in areas and households where multiple sources of income are required.

It’s not uncommon for Ossy-only schools to be combined, with kids of all ages learning in the same building and sometimes with the children of multiple communities going to the same school. Mostly because of the whole numbers game- you can’t justify spreading the kids out between different buildings when there’s so few kids in the first place. If you and the neighboring community both have ten children in total, it makes more sense to teach them together than keep them separate as long as the distance between the two isn’t too great.

Plus, it’s easier to guard one school than two and Ossy-only schools are more well secured than some banks. If these fuckers could safely put their classrooms under the hoards of dragons? They would do so in a heartbeat. As it is, security systems are intense and it’s not unknown for communities far enough from humans to keep cryptid and mythical animals to serve as guards for the children.

**This is a hypothetical, of course, because I still don’t know how I want to do his backstory in this AU. If he grew up in an Ossy household he would’ve been encouraged to focus on electricity and possibly other forms of energy, if not this obviously doesn’t apply.

I’ve posted about this before, but it’s time to go off on the Ben 10 arc that I hold deepest in my heart.

The Ultimate Kevin arc of Ultimate Alien

Let’s begin with how Kevin became Ultimate Kevin.

The Defeat of Aggregor

Aggregor was the main villain for the first two seasons of Ultimate Alien. We went through two arcs with him. One where our heroes had to protect his alien prisoners from being re-captured (a task they consistently failed at in every episode), and then after Aggregor re-captured them and absorbed their powers, the Map of Infinity arc where they had to stop Aggregor from collecting all the pieces of a map that would guide him to the Forge of Creation where the “ultimate prize” was (another task they consistently failed at in every episode).

Aggregor got all his aliens, and he got all his map pieces, and he made it to the Forge of Creation, and he had beaten Ben!OS, Ben!AF/UA, and Gwen into submission. Our heroes were not doing well. Kevin and Ben!OS were the only ones even still conscious and Ben!OS’ Omnitrix was timed out and non-active.

So, Ben comes up with a plan.

He offered the power of his Omnitrix to Kevin in order to defeat Aggregor.

This is a very jarring moment because, remember, THIS version of Ben has only ever known Kevin as an enemy and not someone to be trusted. But he also recognizes that his other self and Gwen were both unconscious and unable to do anything. He himself is unable to do anything because without his Omnitrix, he’s just a tiny little 10-year-old kid. But Ben recognizes that Kevin can do something if he uses his Osmosian powers to absorb the Omnitrix.

So, he offers that power to Kevin.

That’s very important.

As we move forward in this post (and all my rants about this arc, to be honest), I want you all to remember: Ben offered Kevin the Omnitrix.

Kevin has his misgivings and refuses at first. The reasons for this should be obvious, but I’ll list them for you anyway:

Kevin loses his mind when he absorbs too much power

Absorbing a lot of power overloads an Osmosian’s mind and they lose their sanity

If Kevin absorbed and Omnitrix, any Omnitrix, he will cease to be himself

Do all three of those sound like the same thing to you? Good. They should. It’s very important to this essay, so I had to say it three times. Kevin does not want to absorb the Omnitrix or the Ultimatrix because Kevin does not want to lose his mind. Kevin does not want to lose the stable life he’s built for himself. Kevin does not want to lose the healthy relationship he has with his mother. Kevin does not want to lose the friends he has made. Kevin does not want to lose the love he has found with Gwen.

Kevin has everything to lose by following Ben’s plan and absorbing an Omnitrix.

But, Kevin has even more to lose if Aggregor absorbs the power of a god and can un-make the universe.

Realizing the necessity, Kevin, accepts this plan, but goes for his Ben’s Ultimatrix instead.

He absorbed the Ultimatrix, as was Ben’s plan and becomes Ultimate Kevin. This gives him the power needed to defeat Aggregor.

The universe is saved! Whoo hoo!

The universe is saved and Kevin was the one who saved it.

Ben didn't save the universe. Kevin did.

It was Kevin.

Kevin is the hero here.

But at great personal cost.

He’s now off his nut. He even says, out right, very clearly, in plain words, that he could absorb all of his friends right now. Both Bens and even Gwen. He could even do what Aggregor was trying to do and absorb the Celestialsapien and become a god.

No one can stop him. They’re all still too weak from having their asses handed to them by Aggregor.

Everyone is 100% at Kevin’s mercy. And they all know it.

But Kevin doesn’t absorb anyone. He doesn’t absorb either of the Bens. He doesn’t absorb Gwen. He doesn’t absorb the baby god-alien that’s right there.

Instead, he leaves. He has just barely enough control of himself to do it. But he does it. Because he just sacrificed -literally- everything else he has in the universe to save these idiots.

Cue the wrap-up. Professor Paradox sends Ben!OS back to his own time, and Ben and Gwen wonder what’s gonna become of Kevin now that he’s... changed...?

And that leads us into the next segment:

Trying to Convince Us Kevin is an Unforgivable Monster

So now we have an arc of Kevin being a villain again.

Sure. I’m down.

I love a good “good guy turned bad” arc. It... does things for me...

But, the very first episode of the “prove Kevin is evil” arc only shows us that he’s not evil at all. All it does is show us that Kevin Levin has had one of the hardest and most unfair lives of any character from the Ben 10 franchise.

Let’s begin.

The Episode opens in the Null Void in a prison called Incarcercon, and introduces the characters that are going to be important for this episode. Two convicts, Trukk and Quince, and the Warden, Morgg. We’ll come back to them.

Then it cuts to our “heroes” Ben and Gwen.

And Ben is already on his “Kevin needs to go down” bullshit.

They are desperate to find Kevin. Gwen, to help him and return him to some version of sanity and normalcy. Ben, to beat the shit out of him and “stop” him like any other villain in his rogues gallery.

After this conversation we learn that Kevin has actually hurt someone, so he’s not completely innocent.

This Guy ^

Whom we have never seen before and we will never see again.

According to This Guy, Kevin claimed he owed him money and then attacked him, and Kevin’s into some pretty sketch stuff so I’m willing to believe that. Sure.

But Kevin also, right now, has the power to fly through space, race the Rust Bucket, rip into Plumbers bases, somehow get to the Null Void, and a whole bunch of other stuff. He could kill an average earthling with a sneeze, and this guy looks like an average earthling to me. I’m honestly skeptical Kevin actually hurt him at all and he didn’t just see Kevin, get scared, and trip down some stairs.

But whatever.

The testimonial from This Guy, whom we have never seen before and will never see again, bolsters Ben’s resolve. “Kevin must be stopped, no matter the cost!” (<--Optimis Prime voice)

So, where in the universe is Kevin Levin?

You guessed it! He’s in Incarcercon that was already explained to us at the beginning of the episode!

One of the other inmates approaches him because he thinks he recognizes him. Kevin is his normal abrasive self. Ben and Gwen teleport into the prison. Then we get a flashback to Kevin’s past to explain his motivations for coming to this prison in the middle of the Null Void.

This was the prison Kevin was sent to when he was just 11 years old. (I have more comments to make on that, but that’s a whole other post!) And it’s the place where -objectively his best- father figure was murdered.

Y’all remember in the OS how Ben finally “defeated” Kevin was to trap him in the Null Void, right?

Welp, once he was in the Null Void, they went even further and locked him up in the alien equivalent of a Turkish prison.

The flashback opens up with Kevin being attacked by multiple other inmates at once.

The fight is seen by two other inmates, Quince, the one we already met in the present who approached Kevin,

and Kwarrel.

Kwarrel approaches Kevin and offers to help him.

And thus, Kevin Ethan Levin gets the first positive father figure he’s had in his life. (At the age of 11, but once again, that’s another post.)

Kwarrel teaches Kevin how to channel his anger, control his powers and... TURN BACK FROM A MUTANT INTO A REAL BOY!

We also learn why Kwarrel wasn’t there at the beginning of Alien Fore when we run into Kevin again.

He dead.

He super dead.

He murdered.

Shot in the back by Warden Morgg, the current Warden of the prison Kevin has snuck into. Kevin has come back now that he’s Ultimate Kevin and has all these extra powers, so that he can avenge his father-figure’s murder.

That really does not sound all that villainous to me.

Morally questionable, yes. But not “evil”.

Kevin want’s justice, not senseless mayhem.

Ben and Gwen expose a slave labor and drug smuggling plot. The corrupt Warden is defeated. Ben and Gwen are the heroes. Kevin escapes. End Episode. Okay.

Let’s keep it moving.

Next episodes begins yet again with the supporting characters that are going to be important in this episode, before cutting to Ben and Gwen.

Ben is still on his “Kevin’s gotta go down” bullshit.

Then Argit practically jumps in front of their car and explains that Kevin is after him. The main conflict of this episode is Ben and Gwen protecting Argit from Kevin. (There’s also a subplot of the Vreedle brothers becoming Plumbers, and Argit trying to scam a Plumbers base, but this post is about Kevin, not them.)

Argit, of course, played the innocent victim. Gwen does mention that Argit has betrayed not only Kevin, but both her and Ben in the past and asks why they should help him. But they end up helping him anyway.

Trying to protect Argit from Kevin who wants to murder him now.

The thing is... the first time we met Argit, he paralyzed Kevin (and Ben and Gwen), and tries to steal the Rust Bucket 2.

He also sold Ben, Gwen, and Kevin out to the Vreedle brothers.

Kevin finally breaks off his friendship with Argit in “Andreas’ Fault” of Ultimate alien, when Kevin witnesses his treatment of Andreas (one of the prisoners of Aggregor).

In this very episode where Argit is the “victim”, Argit is trying to defraud the Plumbers.

So, while Ultimate Kevin trying to kill him is very extreme, for sure! I don't think it’s all that “evil” considering the history they have.

Once again, Kevin wants justice, not mayhem.

Obviously, this is a kids show and so some black and white morality is to be expected. Killing is wrong and so if Kevin wants to kill someone then he is wrong.

I just don’t think he’s acting “irredeemably evil”.

Certainly, he’s not acting bad enough to earn him a death sentence of his own!

Which is exactly what Ben tries to do to him in the third and final part of this arc.

15+ Figma Plugins to Help You Design Better

Figma, the second most-used tool for designing user interfaces (and the first most-used tool when counting only Windows OS), has really taken the digital design industry by storm lately, with even Adobe XD shipping their own version of Figma’s multiplayer feature (naming it “coediting”).

However, the hot topic at Figma right now is the release of plugins — extensions that Figma users can install on Figma to allow for extra functionality or to improve their design workflow.

Let’s take a look at some of the best Figma plugins so far.

1. Arrow Auto (create user flows)

Arrow Auto adds flowchart functionality to Figma, which is useful for creating user flow maps. Select any two objects on the canvas and Arrow Auto will enable you to draw a connector between them. You can also hide and show the flows on demand.

Autoflow is a decent (and maybe nicer looking) alternative, but Arrow Auto has more features, including the ability to switch connector directions and also move connected objects around while keeping connectors intact.

2. Angle (utilize device mockups)

Angle allows you to display your screens (i.e. artboards) from within a number of realistic or matte-effect device frames that each come with a variety of angle options and shadow styles.

Impressively, they’re 100% vector as well.

Artboard Studio isn’t quite the same thing, as it allows for inserting a whole bunch of random 3D objects onto the canvas (like a kiwi, for example). If you only care about device mockups, I’d install Angle. Vectory 3D is similar to Artboard Studio, but it outputs actual 3D assets.

3. Master (manage components more easily)

Master offers a better way to manage components, such as the ability to turn multiple identical objects into a component, duplicate components into other Figma files, and much more.

4. Clean Document (auto-clean documents)

Clean Document, well … cleans your document! It deletes hidden layers, sorts them intelligently, renames them according to your liking, ungroups single-layer groups, and even rounds dimensions to the nearest pixel. A terrific tool for obsessive neat freaks!

5. Similayer (select similar layers)

Quite simply, Similayer allows you to select layers based on their similarity to the layer that’s currently selected. Let’s say that you wanted to change a shadow style that’s being used on a number of different elements: Similayer could do that.

You could also use it to batch-reassign multiple components.

6. Viewports (change the viewport)

Find out the correct market share of all viewport dimensions, then apply them to frames. It’s insane how useful this is!

Viewport data is live-sourced from StatCounter.

7. Todo (create todo lists)

There are dozens of terrific todo lists, but this one exists within Figma. It’s not designed to replace your everyday todo list, but it’s a more convenient way of keeping track of your design-specific todos without needing to leave Figma. Have a list of changes to make? Need to establish priorities?

If so, install Todo.

8. Font Scale (establish a font scale)

Establish a visually consistent/hierarchical font scale by choosing a base size and scale factor, then save the results to your document for continuous reference (as either em or px).

9. Content Reel (insert better-than-lorem-ipsum content)

Content Reel inserts “real” content into your design. Need a quick address? Or an avatar? For some reason can’t think of a single name when you need one? Content Reel has your back.

Designing with real data ensures that the design doesn’t look odd once developed, and also helps us to design for edge cases.

10. Google Sheets Sync (sync data from Google Sheets)

Whether your app has an API or you just want to create a table of data manually, Google Sheets Sync will basically allow you to sync this data directly into Figma. It’s like Content Reel, but instead you define the data yourself. It’s useful for designers that want to build ultra-realistic mockups with data from their actual niche (or live application), and it’s especially useful for teams that want to design using the same library of data.

11. Chart (create “real data” charts)

Create stunning, customizable charts with data from Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or simply import a local CSV or JSON file. Datavizer is suitable alternative, but Chart can also sync with live JSON (i.e. you can connect Chart to a REST API).

12. Iconify (utilize icon fonts)

All icon fonts, right inside Figma. Material Design Icons, FontAwesome, Jam Icons, EmojiOne, Twitter Emoji — you name it.

Pretty iconic, really.

13. Figmotion (create animations)

If the thought of exploring animation scares you, or you dread switching tools to access advanced animation features, Figmotion makes animation a lot less anxiety-inducing. The animations are also easy to hand off, since they’re based on web technologies.

14. Split Shape (make columns … and stuff)

An interesting method of creating columns, Split Shape splits, say, a rectangle into multiple rectangles from which you can then create columns (or rows, or whatever). Split Shape can be used for various things if one thinks outside the box! 😁

15. Remove BG (create transparent bitmaps)

Remove BG is a web tool that removes the background of bitmap images, effectively turning them into transparent PNGs. Remove BG for Figma essentially does the same thing, but within Figma.

If you’ve been hoarding Adobe Photoshop only so that you can remove backgrounds, you can now delete it and probably free up approximately 80 thousand million GBs of space on your SSD 😌.

There are a few Figma Plugins that I didn’t mention because they’re already super well-known to users of other UI design tools such as Sketch. You probably have these ones already:

Confetti (create dispersions)

Unsplash (insert stock images)

Rename It (rename layers more efficiently)

Humaaans (insert mix-n-match illustrations)

Stark or A11y – Color Contrast Checker (measure color contrast)

Bonus Figma Plugins

These Figma Plugins are awesome, but you might not need them often (if at all). It’s nice to know they’re there, though.

Arc (arch text)

Roto (rotate-extrude shapes)

Table Generator (create tables)

To Path (create text on a path)

Brandfetch (source brand assets)

Isometric (make objects isometric)

Mapsicle or Map Maker (create maps)

Skew (create simple isometric mockups)

Image Tracer (convert bitmaps to vectors)

Shadow Picker (intelligently create shadows)

Metaball/Blobs/Waves (create abstract shapes)

And finally, all Figma Plugins (in case you just can’t get enough of ’em! 😉).
