breaking the DC streak to go to Marvel because fun fact I've been into DC for six months and into Marvel comics for eight years so

anyway a majority of my spideypool bookmarks are from 2015 and I have no idea if most of them are any good which is an interesting problem to have but I still have a solid list for y'all

Say Anything...Except That - I was following this from the first chapter and I'm now mutuals with the author which was very fanboy moment for me (if you're seeing this, hi!). it has a lot of old school fanfiction.net quirks to it which might be a bit difficult to swallow if you've only been reading fic for a few years, but honestly I think this fic is really good and holds up to this day. it's been a while since I read it last but iirc Deadpool has to protect Spider-Man or Peter from assassination attempts and there's a lot of pining involved. also mattfoggy ended up having a nice arc because this was 2015 and Daredevil had just aired (this is technically incomplete there's one chapter left but if I had to reread it multiple times when there were only like ten chapters you can handle it)

under attack - more fics by people who are wayyy too cool to have followed me back and yet somehow did? anyway this is part of stackthedeck's team red slash series (ELITE ship fyi) but this one is spideypool focused and has some nice fluff. fighting as flirting idk what else to say it's golden

#NoPlaceLikeHome - do y'all know ask-spiderpool? you should it's one of the best blogs on this damn website and a must-read for spideypool shippers. anyway this is that version of spideypool's first time together which is cute :D short and sweet basically. sciderman has a lot of fics for the spiderman fandom in general and their ask-spiderpool au in particular and they're all worth reading

Dissonance - another longfic that took half a decade to write about deadpool protecting spider-man from harm. I actually don't know why this trope is so good peter really can defend himself but there you go

Perfect Enough - ohm y gOD this fic series is so good. this au hinges on such a tiny difference in peter's history but it makes ALL the difference. anyway in this world basically nobody has a functional secret identity anymore except for spider-man. meanwhile, wade wilson and peter parker start dating. so much plot, two separate longfics each around 140k, good luck this CONSUMED my life

speaking of consumed, rippling - this is part of a series called Into the Multiverse and is based on the Spiderverse film so it's Peter B. which I LOVE (spideybpool FUCKS). the series spun out of the authors' other series and it is, in fact, a pain to read the main entries in the series without reading the other serieses which means that I did spend two weeks doing little to nothing except reading deniigiq's work, but a. it was worth b. this one can be read as a standalone! wade jumps in front of a bullet for peter b and he angsts about it I love it

finally ahem speaking of Peter B, did you know I've been writing spideypool fic since 2015 and I wrote one specifically for spiderverse? I'm a mess (but I'm the mess that you wanted) is really a mix of spiderverse and comic canon like, five years into the future, and deals mostly with like, depression and suicidal ideation on Peter's behalf, but hey there's also a plot AND a happy polyam ending which, what else could you want really

anyway sorry the list isn't longer I didn't bookmark so many of my favorite spideypool fics and now they're lost in the void forever :/

Me when I see a CaFae Latte video today and it inspires me an idea that contains various elements like witch Virgil, protection charms, pole dancer Remus (who is looking for a protection charm.) And a boyfriend. Gets a little two for one deal at the local coven's shop.

I‘m sorry, but this is very exciting news to me.

YES YES YES YES YES! I actually put down my PJO hyperfixation in favour of Life because of Secret Life being released and got way back into MCYT in general and a ton of people I never watched before! I watched every single perspective of Secret Life it was so so so so so good and I have so many animatics I watch daily now!

I was super huge into Hermitcraft 6 and watched almost all the Hermits at that time but I had a break from it for other interests for a while and now I'm catching up again!

I've been a fan of Etho and Bdubs for over a decade :D and Joe and Cleo I've known about since Race for the Wool. I love MCYTs soooooo much, and Life series is the best thing ever!!! It reminds me of Mindcrack Ultra Hardcore but more tailored to longetivity, better pacing, and better entertainment value in how it's recorded and edited.

I'm going back and watching all of the other Life seasons now because previously I had only watched Etho's Last Life and Double Life POVs and I didn't really know the non-Hermits or understand how the series worked very well. Now it's all I talk about, I live and breathe Life. I'm pulling theories out of my ass and I even started reading FANFIC again. I opened ao3. This is like huge for me. I even drew ART wtf

My younger sibling actually got me into Secret Life by telling me about it when I visited and the tasks sounded so funny I had to watch. And apparently my other brother watched some of the previous Life serieses too which surprised me?? But my 14 y/o sibling and I put it on TV and watched a bunch of the episodes together, and then a bunch of Scott's episodes from previous series while waiting for new SL episodes.

This weekend though we're gonna watch the PJO show! I bough blue candy and koolaid, I'm forcing them all to have some.

Make It So Friday

A lot of Star Trek serieses can sorta be read in any order, and at anytime. And, while that’s sort of true of the Double Helix series also. On the other hand, if it’s read all at the ‘same time’ (i.e. over a few days or weeks or months) it’s such an amazingly awesome and epic story that really holds together well.

It starts with a plague on a planet where there’s also quite a lot of civil strife too. The Enterprise-D and Beverly Crusher are on the case though. It seems simple enough, but, it’s not actually simple at all. We then get four more books that are set mostly in ‘present’ time with all sorts of awesome characters like Montgomery Scott, Gul Dukat, Pulaski, Kira, more Beverly, and of course Bones from TOS. Then there’s the final book, which, actually goes all the way to the beginning with Jean-Luc Picard on the Stargazer and why the rest of the books and the through storyline actually happened to begin with.

It was set up so well. A slow burn as for who was doing this behind the scenes, and why it was happening too. Each book stood on its own merits, but, also had this really interesting and awesome through line. And then the final book was just…. Amazing. Although, to be fair, I’m a sucker for a good Stargazer story (that series is on my list to read too).

Tbh reading through some of the chapters with the Gems in it where they try to deter spider from Pearl because Pearl is a demon and is dangerous is kinda funny in hindsight when you think about the fact that throughout the serieses they share is that Gem was the one that got possessed by a demon and that Gem has a collection of Pearl's (and many others) heads for no reason other than she felt like it, not to mention the casualness of all the murder and decapitation- if Pearl ever meets HC9!Gem it's either gonna end up in angst or extreme awkwardness with Gem having no idea what's happening in both, probably

Gem from HC9 is a special case of (what I like to call) a Cottagecore Murderer. She maybe has many heads and killed many Hermits (some more than others), yet you will never think of her the same way you would with DL 5am Pearl

But honestly, more funny it would be for the Afterlife Gems meet HC9 Gem with her blood-covered wooden sword surounded by the heads :D

3. My favorite fic that I've written so far... is a tie! I really love M&YMT, but I also have a very soft spot for a vignettes fic I've written for the [instrumental] series, which has yet to be posted (EVEN THOUGH I WANT TO POST IT SO BAD)

9. Usually I at least pick at my writing every day! I have a 10-month position for my grown up job, so I have two months off right now to write as much as I want-- haven't written yet today, though, because I only just finished my coffee 😅

15. I don't name chapters because I'm lazy but fic titles are a whole thing. For the [like classical music] and [instrumental] serieses (??), I picked a song for the ~vibe~ to help me write and then I just used it as a title, too. The others are sort of a toss up! Sometimes a song, sometimes just an applicable phrase :)

17. I learned a little bit about oil rigs while writing [in the shadow of ghosts]! Truly knew absolutely nothing about them or how they worked, so I had to learn about the different types and how spars work and all kinds of nonsense. Then I looked up their ambient noise to see if the spook factor was right. It was neat!

AH thanka you ajdjkckdkda !! im actually really surprised too , im not tht familiar w precure but i know it has a lot of different serieses and a huge fanbase plus i got SO many pretty cure submissions it was insane sjkdkqhfksijekcka . but even tho they arent sweeping i still think they can win , miyuki and ruru are currently in tha leads as i type this !! and theyve already been winning rounds , i thought xinyan would win because im moar familiar with genshin than precure i guess , but miyuki won that poll !! :D

C-Show - My My My : this one was made for maimai! it's fairly different from c-show's usual work imo, but it's fun :) and i like the title being a joke on maimai with an extra syllable

t+pazolite - Oshama Scramble! : another maimai original, one you'll see pretty much everywhere! has an absolutely infectious energy to it

TAK x Zekk - MIRINAE (Original Mix) : my dedicated arcaea shill. this one's an original made for the latest arcaea sound collection album! just a fun time and a fun listen all around :)

lapix - Flying Castle (Extended Mix) : konami may suck but you have to admit their sound library is insane. this one i can give you an actual genre for too; colorcore! i love color- subgenres, they have a particular sound that scratches my brain

i meant to get to this like, 3 days ago, but my computer chose the wrong moment to decide its tummy hurts, and then there was The Woozy Hour. But now... now should be an epic time... and this time you'll be hearing first impressions rather than after-the-fact recollections!

SATELLITE - I started trying to listen to this one, and then i realized, "oh, I still have windows music player and windows explorer open. i should close those." Then my computer threw up from me trying to close them. ...Proper opinions now... unfortunately i cant come up with anything super thrilling to say about this one aside from "is good." And good instrumence... all in all, if i had to give it a real rating, it's probably a 7/10, if that even means anything. Which in my personal scale is real good!!!

E=mc2 - Album serieses!!! I've never heard of tano*c before so why oh why would I know such things! But I love trivias! There's like... sort of radio-scratchy vocals that kick in a little bit into this one that i think is one of my favorite things that people can add to music. sprinkle some radio chatter in there. Takes a song from D rank to A rank, to use an esoteric scale. Why do I keep scaling things?! Oh bother!

COMPLETE aside. Im eating sour candy right now. Its very sour. I think it fits this type of music though. I needed something to eat, and if refrigerated candy that hasnt been covered what we got, it's what we eat. I'm not one of those people who can taste music, but the stuff i've been hearing in my inbox thus far has been sour candy coded.

Meta-Mysteria - This song literally punched me in the face. It very much earns its title of being meta and mysteria. Songs that fill me with whimsy and nostalgia... I used to listen to music like this a bunch in my youth, before i decided that... hm... how do i put this... well, before i decided that i didnt like music like it. Tastes come and go like tides... Now I've got a soft spot for this-core music again, even if I like ambiance and whatever the hell you call Present World Overhaul more. Ah, if a song makes me tangent, you know its good.

My My My - I'm willing to admit I don't like this one as much as the other stuff I've seen thus far. It does have the bones of a song that I really would like though!!! "What do you mean bones?" I don't know how to explain it. I'm better with explaining why I like songs I like...

Oshama Scramble! - Ohhh, you introduced me to something famous, I can tell... It definitely is VERY infectuously happy. I too have been drinking a bunch of milk lately, though for very different reasons (all the soda's been making my health act up but i still want something tasty to drink :[ ) This is one I'll have to come back to later to study it like a bug....

MIRINAE - Hey. I know a Mirinae... shes the one who does augury kick strength stacking... This one's got me closing my eyes and paying attention... I am now nodding in a sagely manner. The Arcaea Shill has passed the vibe check. hell yeah boss!!!!

Flying Castle - They most certainly didn't lie. The castle flies. The castle flies!!! My ass loves pianos... Theres piano in this one! Too, too easy to please... Well, a piano does not a song make, but yknow.

Summerblue - I know Twinbee. Vaguely. There's a Kirby character who gets remodelled constantly because of Twinbee. This one's another one that gets a smile and a nod. Quite the fun one, this. This is very close to one of my very favorite vibes. Stuff that causes one to feel endless joy and whimsy!!!! Joy! Whimsy! Hell yeah!!!!!

...Am I allowed to go on my own little autism attack moment? Because I saw "camellia" and I remembered, "oh hey, she did some stuff for Yume 2kki, right?" And then I checked the wiki, and it's true! As far as similarities go, nothing close to anything i've seen in this little list, but any time I get to talk about 2kki is a good time, and it's probably kinda obscure. 2_38 / Lorn Tower - I love this one! Mysteries... It fills the heart with mysteries. And it sounds kinda underwater, but not like, muffled, but just underwater in general.

2_40 / Power Plant - What if you were stuck in a tube? And people looked at you? Now imagine it funky. Presto!

2_13 / Fairy Tale Woods - It's an eerie drone but with a very, very, very slow beat. But I love eerie drone type beats!!!!!!!

2_16 / Techno Condominium - It's... another eerie drone, but without any frills. Eerie drone enjoyers... ASSEMBLE... ...This one plays in a lot of different places in different speeds, but I'm picking places that I like.

6_3 / Pink Honeycomb - Imagine if a Sylveon was scary. Now imagine music to go with it. Presto! Again!

cave_2 / Realistic Beach Glowing Cave - Nuts! It's nuts! This theme has no right going this hard for the area its in! But I'm so glad it does. There's also enter_2 , which is the same without the crazy beats. Couldn't find it with a good quality on youtube, but the wiki has it.

Okay, before we get distracted: while I do so, I'm constantly thinking about what I would and wouldn't want to emulate from them if I were a player or GM in my own campaign. I have a couple of mostly-unrelated thoughts on this topic:

Obviously, it's clear to me that there's a big difference between the ones where there's a set output format and in some sense it's heavily preplanned/"scripted" (live stage shows with a time limit; shows with elaborate physical props like dimension 20) and, you know, the shows that don't have those, but I'm sure there are much more subtle things that you do only when you're recording something for an audience that I wouldn't easily pick up on.

Even though the amounts of each roleplay group I've experienced besides the one I've watched hours of are like [two episodes, four episodes, about 10 minutes, one season], it's really obvious that everyone's strengths and weaknesses are different, to the extent that "actual play D&D" really doesn't fundamentally describe the same thing. Some groups seem, besides the DM, actively bad at the D&D part itself and the "rules" are more of an inspiration source for some professional-tier storytellers/roleplayers who are really using that skill. Contrast, I guess, with critical role, who seem to more actively be playing the game itself (neither of which is better or worse, obviously; it's just different).

My biggest pet peeve, that I'm really curious about the prevalence of, is when the GM presents the players with a problem, multiple players come up with ways to solve it that don't really engage with each other, that's kind of the end of the thought, and they say "okay each of our characters does their plan" and they all roll separately. I dunno, like... I guess when you say it that way it sounds fine. But it doesn't lend itself to, I guess, stuff like narrative drama? I thought I had a better way to describe this in my head. But, I guess, coming up with a plan that involves everyone's idea makes the successes or failures dictated by the device create a coherent narrative that everyone can contribute narrative ideas to, while everyone splitting up to (let's say) sneak into an area and one person getting caught usually just leads to the invalidation of the potential storylines of all of the other potentially clever ways to get past the challenge.

Related to that, and more generally: I like to think I would run tabletop in a very specific way: that of "the best, most compelling story is the one we're trying to create." For example, I would actively want my GM to decide how many wolves are around the corner based partially on the current state of the party, not necessarily because they wrote that down beforehand. To me, that's not a betrayal of the system we decided wherein the better my character is built the more successful they are! I would want to play tabletop more as a collaborative writing exercise than as a video game, I guess. I find "clever ways to skip boss encounters" actively annoying unless the clever way is cool, and makes a cool story, and feels good, which it often does but often doesn't! If not, it's just wasted story potential, wasted emotion potential really. The goal is to feel something. I'm not saying de-weight the dice, to be clear; the dice are also a way to feel something! I'm saying, engineer the scenario so each time you roll the dice, you have the maximum chance of feeling something because of it.

Yeah, I think about this a lot for someone who will likely not experience these things any time soon.

(If you're looking for recs: I don't think Oxventure is the sort I'd do a specific rec for since a lot of the draw is enjoying the people and just how they interact, but I do really like all of them and have watched it by far the most; the early bits of TAZ I've listened to give me similar vibes but I hear the worldbuilding gets pretty good later; I don't like how crit role does combat descriptions and I don't have the time to commit to understand the melodrama so I passed on it; I haven't gotten into friends at the table but I bet I would find them the most compelling if I did; their creative abilities seem off-the-charts but I have trouble parsing the voices...

...and I watched the first dimension 20 season and that one does get a straight up recommendation, because wow they are good at what they do; I would say the high-energy style is not actually my style but if you're gonna do that they do it in a way that I bet almost no one can
