my #1 biggest problem with the Monster High fandom is that nobody understands what "canon" means lmfao. the creators saying something doesn't make it "canon". it doesn't mean you can't embrace what they think! but wow. you guys are so desperately focused on needing things to be "canon", so that you can justify liking them, when you could just enjoy those things anyways! not everything needs to be "canon", it's okay, you can like those things despite it (or in spite of it)

If I think that epic winter should take place soon after dragon games and not have the 20 whatever episodes that go in between them im going to do it.

This is my timeline, and while yes is still canonically I’m going to take a few creative liberties in between the lines. It’s not like the series is canon anyways, because the series narrators are either 1. liars or 2. incompetent (I’ll link the post explaining later) and they tell Brooke “take us to the next scene” meaning they control when scenes happen so the series could canonically be misleading

it is kinda funny thinking about how monster high is the interest ive had for the longest.. like. its been 12 years. what am i still doing here.

especially because other interests of mine tend to die off after a few years at most, or just become background noise after losing the intensity they had before. monster high never like. went through that loss of intensity? at least not permanently. it comes and goes in waves but even at its lowest its still there. its always there

i know that the eah books frame apple, briar and blondie as the 'main' royal trio and ashlynn is sometimes the plus one. then the webisodes sort of switches blondie and ashlynn's positions which i think makes it so much better.

here's my reasoning. boling it down to the basics, apple and blondie's future stories are both short tragedies followed by a long happy ever after. apple gets three trials from the evil queen and essentially gets poisoned for a week and her survival is ensured through all of it. blondie's story with the bears takes less time than that. heck, blondie barely suffers through it. the bears go more tragedy than her.

but briar and ashlynn's stories are much more darker and tragic than those two combined. briar falls asleep for a hundred years. when she wakes up, all her family, her siblings, her friends and everyone she's ever known are gone are long gone. she's displaced from her own time and saddled with a prince she has never met before. ashlynn's going to lose her mother and then her father and then has to suffer through years of abuse from her stepfamily and she just has to bear it. she's going to have lose to lose contact with her friends and break up with her boyfriend and go through all of it alone with just birds and mice to talk to. they both have to make it through so much hardship before they get their happily ever after.

(their ever afters aren't even 100% happy. when ashlynn gets her ever after, she'll eventually go through the last part of her cinderella story and knows that she won't live long enough to see her child reach adulthood. briar knows her child will be cursed too and she'll have to accept the fact that there's going to be that event where her child will fall asleep for a hundred years. they won't be dead, but it's close to a parent burying their own child. since snow whites aren't related to the evil queens in the world of ever after, only apple gets a perfectly happy ending to her story)

the webisodes deciding to surround apple with ashlynn and briar makes apple look so much more naive with her way of thinking. the extreme contrast with her path to her happily ever after compared to her 'bffs' portrays apple as someone who doesnt' think about other people's stories and just focuses on her own. the lack of compassion from apple (and other royals) towards ashlynn and briar is even enough to make ashlynn and briar rebel. apple's blinding excitement toward her future clashes extremely with ashlynn and briar's anxious dread towards theirs.

surrounding apple with briar and blondie just doesn't give the same effect.

in contrast to the royal side, there's the 'main' rebel trio where you have raven, maddie and cedar. maddie and cedar are happy with their stories and like where they end up. raven doesn't. rightly so because her fate isn't a happy one. but maddie and cedar feel so much love for their friend that they're willing to throw away their destinies, their potential happiness in the hope of being able to help her. they're willing to risk their happily ever afters so raven won't ever have to suffer.

what an interesting comparison between two groups when one is descirbed to be 'good' and the other as 'bad' when it's definitely the other way around.

the webisodes may be just marketing for the dolls but they do make some incredibly fantastic writing choices.

They're about this nurse, nurse Jeffery who is sick if house and is trying to get evidence against him to send to HR but it's going no where

Felt like redesigning Holt from monster high after going thru some old sketches

I had ALOT of fun with Holt that I just had to do Jackson. I love to think this mad scientist kid wears his nerdy horror video game shirts to class. As for Holt I like to think he loves make up and painting his nails for the feeling of freedom.

I also like to think that they would go by He/Him before they became aware of each other and once they learn of each other they fight like in the webisodes, but in the end get along and go by He/They ( yay! self acceptance!!!)

Clawdeen's family is from Brooklyn and got chased out.

spectra and Twyla run into each other in the walls of MH all the time (Twyla sometimes lectures Spectra for spying on people)

Clawdeen started getting feelings for Toralei during the sport webisodes when Toralei joined all the sports due to being competitive.

Howleen's straight pink hair is a lace-front because her mom doesn't want her to dye it yet (is jealous of Clawdeen because of it)

Clawdeen dyes her hair constantly but because her fur grows so fast its back to normal in just a few days, she is constantly trimming it.

Werewolf's commonly tuck their tails into their clothes or trim the fur because they don't like altering clothes and their tails are thicker than were-cats

Frankie is poly

Frankie is also intersex (franken monster)

Deuce and Cleo have spa dates because their skin dries out and they need extra moisturization.

Venus and Clawdeen had a fling

Clawd's mom cuts his fur for him because he always butches it

Lagoona and Gill sneak out every other friday

Lagoona taught everyone how to understand zombie and has her own class/ study group for it at MH

slow-mo has a speeding problem

jackson and holt didn't know their grandfather's story until Frankie and the ghouls took him to the library and showed him the documents (Dr.jekyll and Mr.hyde)

Clawd and Clawdeen are from the same litter but Clawd was premature and Clawdeen was late. Clawdeen kicked him out of the womb (originally twins meant to be born at the end of February, beginning of march)

toralei beats up other bullies (especially ones she deems takes it too far) but no one ever knows because it "could ruin her rep"

draculaura has to be reassured about her and clawd's relationship consistently bc of their age gap

Clawdeen struggles to not chase balls and whistles like clawd, the whistles hurt her ears

ghoulia is acesexual

Food Headcanons

-dexter can easily eat the same thing everyday and never get bored

-cupid is allergic to every nut on the planet. considering she has so many allergies in the webisodes I find this fitting

-alistairs stomach is a bottomless pit where he can eat 5 full pizzas and still be hungry

-since duchess is a ballerina and (assumingly) needs alot of energy, she eats things full of nutrients like nuts, fruit, boiled eggs, and avocadoes

-apple eats incredibly clean. I've said this one before but she would have a private chef that only packs healthy foods and encourages others to do the same

-sparrow only eats junk food like pizza pockets, pop tarts, and chips

-briar loves spicy food and will try every challenge

-bunny eats the weirdest food combos. not even weird but disgusting like banana and ketchup

-ash will say shes 'not hungry' but then when someone has food she'll dip into it regardless if they offered or not

Hi everyone! As you may know, I run an external blog for the show that, among other things, is mainly being used to layout and report new Season 17 information (there's not a lot right now, let's be real).

My main drive for creating this blog was two fold: (1) I wanted a place that would be a "one-stop shop" for people to be able to find a lot of the things I was constantly getting asks about (scripts, DVD extras, webisodes, stills, etc.) and (2) I wanted to be able to recreate the original Paddy's Pub Blog, which was a production blog existing during Seasons 4 through 9 to post updates, bts, new episode recaps, etc. for when the time comes (nigh!)

Obviously I modelled the look of my blog completely off of that OG Blog...

And now, in furtherance of honouring the OG Blog (or, leeching from it), I've gone ahead and bought the original domain:

If you have any page from the site bookmarked already (awe, thanks!) the links will automatically redirect to the "clean" URL, so this isn't, like, a necessary FYI, so to say, but I'm telling you all anyway. From now on, you can just type paddyspubblog.com and boom. you're there.

Also, because it's been a while since I've mentioned this, if anyone wants to contribute to the blog (in any way! posts, feedback, you want a link added, etc.) please let me know! I't's still under construction (mostly the Episode Guides tab) I'd love to be able to flesh out the Episode Guides tab, especially, and that really just kinda needs more than myself to bounce a conversation around and compile some lists.

And if you aren't familiar with the Paddy's Pub Blog just yet, the blog has a lot of fun stuff to check out!
