This is my timeline, and while yes is still canonically I’m going to take a few creative liberties in between the lines. It’s not like the series is canon anyways, because the series narrators are either 1. liars or 2. incompetent (I’ll link the post explaining later) and they tell Brooke “take us to the next scene” meaning they control when scenes happen so the series could canonically be misleading

Food Headcanons

-since duchess is a ballerina and (assumingly) needs alot of energy, she eats things full of nutrients like nuts, fruit, boiled eggs, and avocadoes

-apple eats incredibly clean. I've said this one before but she would have a private chef that only packs healthy foods and encourages others to do the same

-sparrow only eats junk food like pizza pockets, pop tarts, and chips

“We have to announce your debut!”, Sister Imperator declares cheerfully as they walk through the Ministry’s corridors 

Copia blinks and quickens his steps to match her pace. 

“I thought we already did? Did we not? With the Webisodes?”, he gestures vaguely. 

“Yes, but not everyone watches those, Cardinal.” 

“If they’re fans, they will.” 

She doesn’t stop but rather moves to walk even faster, her heels clinking on the marble floor. 

Copia curses under his breath and runs the short distance to reach her side. 

The halls are cold today. Icy breezes seem to brush past them and Copia wishes his cassock had an extra layer. He’d always gotten cold easily. Ever since he was a child, he’d had to wear five layers of clothing during the winters. It’s unusual for the Ministry’s heating system to be turned off and he wonders if there’s a reason for that. He shivers and wraps his arms around himself, trying to keep up with Sister. 

“It’s decided, we have to make it official. And I have just the idea for that! A big announcement that will leave everyone shocked!”, she says, making a round gesture with her hands, as if showing him the masses that will see. 

Copia nods and gives a small shrug. 

“Eh, if you think that’s what’s best. You’re the boss after all, no?”, he chuckles awkwardly. 

They pass by the ghoul den and move further down to the building’s cellars. With every step and staircase they take, Copia’s confusion grows. He’s never been this far down and really wishes it would have stayed that way. It’s even colder on the lower floors and he shoves his hands into his sleeves to keep them from trembling. 

“Eh, Sister?” She doesn’t answer but doesn’t shoot him down either. “Where exactly are we going? why do we have to make the announcement down here?” 

“Don’t worry, dear”, she waves him off like a pesky fly. “You’ll understand in a moment.” 

They stop in front of an old, wooden door that looks like a surviving relic from the Middle Ages. Artistic carvings, depicting demons, punished souls and hellish pits adorn the wings. Each corner is enclosed in metal, the doorknobs made of bronze in the shape of snakes. 

Copia blinks and looks the gate up and down. 

“That is… very unsettling. Are you sure we didn’t come here to have me sacrificed?”, he gives another uncomfortable chuckle, trying to hide the serious anxiety behind his words. 

He’s seen doors like this before. There are a few rooms with similar gates on the upper floors. It’s where they usually hold banquets before and after sacrifices. 

Sister lets out a chuckle as if his concern is ridiculous. 

“No, Cardinal, we’re not here to sacrifice you. How would that make sense, if we’re trying to make you Papa?” 

“Yes, yes, silly me, hah.” Copia wants to throw up. 

They stand in front of the gate in silence for a moment until Sister nudges his side. 

“Well, aren’t you going to open it?” 

“Me?”, he points at his chest. “Open it?” 

“Yes, who else?”

He swallows and pulls the door open, revealing a wide, rounded room. There is almost nothing inside, safe for an old table in the middle. The floor is made of marble, just like everywhere else in the Ministry. Pushed up against the walls are a few drawers and cupboards and if the rest of it wasn’t so empty, he would’ve mistaken it for a storage room. 

Atop the table lies… something. It’s round and about as big as Copia’s head, covered in a black cloth. 

He blinks.   

“What is that?” 

Sister marches past him and stops behind the table, across from him. 

“It’s a gift for you, and the fans. Something we’ll use to show the whole world who took over!” 

“Oh, a gift!”, he feels his shoulders relax and his lips quirk up. Call him childish, but Copia wasn’t one to say no to a little something-something. He closes the door and walks over, putting his hands on the table. 

“May I?” 

Imperator nods, motioning for the cloth covered… thing in front of him. 

“Sure. It’s yours now.” 

His hands move to tug the black fabric off and freeze the second he sees pale, painted lips emerge from underneath it. Skin. Hair. A face. Copia’s fingers start to tremble again, but not from the cold. 

He takes a step back, his heart pounding in his ears. 

Terzo’s eyes lack any life, they used to hold. They look empty, hollow. Like mismatched stones, put in his skull. He doesn’t know why they’re still open. Why they stare at him with this much hatred. Copia feels bile rise to the back of his throat and he lets go of the cloth to clasp a hand over his mouth. 

“What have you done..?” 

There’s some dried up blood on the stump that used to be Terzo’s neck, staining the wood beneath him. 

Imperator inhales and straightens her back, interlocking her hands in front of her body. 

“What was necessary. There’s no better way to state one’s power. You are going to take this head, pose with it, and then we discard it. All I ask of you, is a simple photoshoot. Can you manage that?” 

Copia turns away and projectile vomits onto the marble floor. 

It earns him nothing but a condescending click of the tongue. 

“Will you please pull yourself together? It is a necessary procedure. You’ll thank me for it later.” 

“You killed him?!” Copia straightens up and points at her, motioning between the.. head and her. “HE’S DEAD! YOU FUCKING KILLED HIM! HOW THE FUCK- HOW- I- W-WHAT?!” 

He feels his tongue twist, his words warping together in the familiar stutter he never managed to get rid of. 

His ears ring. Terzo is dead. How long… how long had Terzo been dead? How had he not noticed? Why had nobody told him? Did anyone even know? Did Omega know? 

“The others…”, his voice is shaky and he has to brace himself against the table to keep his legs from giving out. “Are the others dead as well..? How.. Why did you do that?” 

Imperator looks at him as if she can’t understand his reaction. As if he’s acting ridiculous. 

“Cardinal, you have to calm down.” 

“CALM DOWN?! He’s fucking dead! You- you- You cut his head off!” 

He feels his stomach start to twist again and has to close his eyes to not vomit once more. 

“It will be reattached later on, don’t worry. You just have to do one shoot.”

”I DON’T WANT TO - TO TAKE P-PICTURES WITH.. WITH HIS- WITH HIS HEAD!”

Sister marches over to him and grabs his face, keeping his head forcefully still. 

“Copia. Cardi. Look at me. Calm down, dear. Breathe”, she inhales and exhales, as if to show him.  

He moves his shaky hands to hold hers, trying to ground himself and breathe with her. 

“He’s dead-”

“I know. Breathe.” 

He squeezes his eyes shut and opens his mouth to let the air flow in and out. This is bad. He hadn’t panicked like this in a long time. But… could he really be blamed? He was facing his dead brother’s decapitated head and was expected to take fucking photos with it. Who would stay calm in that situation? 

Sister Imperator, apparently. She rubbed her thumbs over his cheeks and for a moment he managed to forget what was happening. 

“Why did you do that..?”, his voice is still shaky but he manages to keep the stutter at bay. 

Imperator sighs. 

“How were you to become Papa if they were still alive? The Clergy would not have allowed someone… like you to rise up. Not, if heirs of the bloodline still exist. It was a necessary step towards your reign, do you understand?” 

He feels himself nodding. Can’t really do much else. It does make sense. Somehow. He’s sure it does. 

He wets his lips and opens his eyes, nodding and leaning into the woman’s touch. It feels comforting, like a mother’s hug. Makes him feel a little better, despite the dire situation. 

“Okay”, he murmurs and inhales deeply, letting his eyes flit towards the table again. If he squints very hard, he can almost delude himself into thinking Terzo’s head is just a painted cabbage. 

Satan, that’s sick. 

He steps back and composes himself, squaring his shoulders, eyes set firmly on Terzo’s. It seems to be less horrible, if he keeps eye contact. If he imagines it’s one of the staring contests they used to get into all the time. 

“Good. Now come on, we don’t have all day. Pick it up and follow me.” 

Imperator nudges his shoulder, as if to shove him in the right direction. It’s still gentle, but firm. Showing him that she’s done with his bullshit. 

Copia moves with shaky legs and reaches out, his hands hovering awkwardly to either side of Terzo’s face. How does one pick up a human head? By the jaw? The neck? Copia shivers at that thought. He definitely doesn’t want to touch the wound directly. 

Maybe he should lift him by the hair? No, that’s dishonouring. Terzo would have never allowed his hair to be messed up like that. 

Awkwardly he shifts around until he manages to cup the man’s cheeks and support his chin with the majority of his palms. 

Lifting the head turns out to be harder than he anticipated. It’s heavy. 

Don’t get Copia wrong, he was used to seeing gore and coming in contact with it. During their rituals and sacrifices, mutilations and disembowelment were no rarities. He’d never thought he would have to face Terzo’s severed head though.  

It feels so wrong. Incredibly wrong. Copia wants to do something. Anything, to undo what has been done. 

He lifts the head to eye level, tries to turn it a bit.. and drops it. Drops it face first onto the table top. He feels his lip start to quiver as tears fill his eyes. 

“No, nonnonono… Fratello-”, he bends down and turns Terzo’s head over, checking for any scratches or dents. “I’m so sorry. Sorry, sorry, forgive me.”  

Imperator clicks her tongue again. 

”Breathe. Steady hands, Cardi.” 

“I’m trying, I’m… I’m trying… fuck.” He inhales deeply and grabs Terzo again, this time a little tighter, digging his thumbs into the man’s cheeks to keep him secured. 

 He sways a little but manages to balance the head and turns around again. Sister Imperator smiles and gives him a nod. 

“Good. Now come, we only have to move into the next room.” 

Copia follows her, the weight of Terzo’s head heavy in his hands. He forces himself not to look down, to imagine it’s a treasure chest he’s carrying. Or one of his rats. Anything but the Papa’s head. 

When they leave the room, he’s once again met by icy air. The cold makes sense now. It’s to keep the corpses fresh. They must be in the Ministry morgue, just a few floors above them. He has no doubt that all previous Emerituses have been killed. It hurts to think about. He wasn’t really close with any of them, besides Terzo, but it still awakens a weird, uncanny feeling in his chest. 

Primo: dead. 

Secondo: dead. 

Terzo: dead, beheaded. 

Three lives, three fates and three careers, snuffed out in a matter of seconds. As if they never even existed in the first place. Death is scary. This is a realisation Copia has now come to, at the ripe age of 49. 

Sister stops in front of another, less beautiful door and Copia does the same. His hands grip Terzo’s head like a life buoy. 

“In you go”, she instructs, motioning for him to move. 

Copia nods mechanically and moves to awkwardly open the door with his elbow.

The dead eye of the camera lense stares at him in unblinking silence as he stands stiffly in front of Nihil, cradling Terzo’s head against his chest. 

Imperator is behind the camera, adjusting the settings and making sure the lighting is right. Copia has been fighting the urge to vomit again for the past ten minutes and Nihil breathing down his neck doesn’t really help his case. 

“Just a moment, I need to make sure the lense is focused”, Sister announces and Copia can hear Nihil yawn. 

He himself doesn’t say anything. He just stands where he was told to stand and tries to not move a muscle. He’s not even sure when he blinked the last time. He found that disassociating and acting like everything was okay makes the fact that he’s holding Terzo’s head in his hands a little more bearable. 

No. He breathes in. Don’t think about it. It’s a cabbage. Sister gifted you a painted cabbage and you’re holding it. That’s it, that’s right.

He’s going fucking insane. 

“Would you loosen up a bit? Your shaking is going to ruin the photo”, Nihil barks and Copia lifts his chin, forcefully relaxing his shoulders. 

“Sorry, Papa.” 

Sister shows them both a thumbs up. 

“Alright, get into position. Cardi, chin up, smile. It’s your debut!”, she shows him a quirk of her lips and he nods but doesn’t mimic it. He can’t. How could he smile while holding Terzo’s head? 

He feels Nihil move behind him, probably to do some fucked up pose and somehow make the photoshoot all about himself. Good. The more the focus is on the old fuck, the less it is on Copia and Terzo. Hopefully. 

Copia wants to close his eyes and will reality to change. To turn back time to when he was a small boy, playing dolls with Terzo after his ballet classes. He wants those days back. Wants to sit down on the floor of the Psaltarians’ house and show Terzo his medal collection, his posters and his action figures. Wants to go back to the times Terzo had put on new vinyls on the old record player the Psaltarians had. It had always been some shitty gospel trash he had played to piss Ministry members off, but Copia had genuinely enjoyed it. He’d liked playing with Terzo. 

He feels his lip tremble again, his hands tightening their grip on the dead man’s jaw. 

The camera clicks and for the first time in what feels for forever, Copia allows himself to blink. 

Sister clicks her tongue. 

“Well, you didn’t smile, but I’m sure it looks nice either way. Maybe even better. You could look imposing! Fans love a strong leader.” 

Nihil mumbles something incoherent and starts waddling towards the door, leaving the room without sparing him another glance. Copia is glad. The last thing he needs is Nihil seeing him have a breakdown. 

Sister walks over to him and puts a hand on his shoulder, rubbing her thumb into the fabric of his cassock. 

“Dear. Are you alright?” 

He’s still staring at the camera without actually seeing it and shakes his head weakly. She sighs and pulls him into a hug. It feels comforting but at the same time like it’s a chore to her. Copia has never doubted that Imperator loved him. He still doesn’t. But he also doesn’t believe that she knows how to show love. She wasn’t a good person and certainly not a good parent. But she was a good leader. So he did what she said, without question. 

He lets his forehead drop against her shoulder, cradling Terzo’s head against his chest in a tight hug. 

“I can’t do this. Please… please fix it”, he murmurs, voice shaky. 

Imperator doesn’t say anything and they stay quiet for a long while. Eventually, she gently takes Terzo’s head from him and moves away, leaving him alone in the room. As the door clicks shut behind her, Copia feels himself sink to the floor, kneeling down and clutching his chest. 

What had just happened? This couldn’t be real. It wasn’t. It wasn’t real. A dream, yes. A dream. He was going to wake up and then he’d go and ask Terzo to listen to his dumb gospel songs on vinyl. Yes, that was a good idea. 

“I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry!”, he sobs and buries his face in his hands, tears running down his face.

He wants it to be a dream. But it’s not, is it? Not even his subconscious would come up with something horrible like this. 

Copia breaks into deep sobs and sits down, pulling his knees to his chest. 

Terzo is dead. 

Primo is dead. 

Secondo is dead. 

Copia is Papa.

What do you think of the show's seeming obsession with everyone (the leads especially) being the best and the top? Like, Marinette's parents don't just run a good bakery, they run the Best Bakery in all of Paris! Kitty Section gets a record deal with the city's top producer! Marinette is the personal designer of Jagged Stone! Alya runs a super popular video blog! Max isn't just the resident smart kid, he can make AI with real feelings!

Oh, but actually, Marinette and Adrien are also top of the class (the webisodes straight-up state Adrien is best in class, surpassing Max and Sabrina, and Marinette gets top grades in Chameleon despite all the workload), because how dare our leads be not good at something?

And that's not getting into "Marinette and Adrien are the best LB and CN ever" stuff. That part is best chalked up to Tikki and Plagg being encouraging, because otherwise the show dunks on all the historical figures they made holders, all at once.

Anyway, with everyone in class being a) hyper talented and famous or b) related to some big nabob, it's not surprising that fans thought it was some elite private school. But no, it's apparently a regular state school (holy smokes, why would Andre and Gabriel send their children to a regular state school??)

That would work in a story where comical exaggeration was the absolute norm, but seems like Miraculous tries to be grotesque and realistic at the same time and fails at both.

Oh look, it's time to talk about Kim Possible again! Phineas and Ferb, too. I'll even use My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to really drive this one home.

It's incredibly normal for episodic kids shows to have the cast be ridiculously talented and connected. They do this for a couple of reasons.

The first reason is that the characters are meant to be stagnant. Every episode stands alone so there's no time for true character growth. That means that the characters need to be their best selves right from day one. Kim Possible doesn't have time to let Kim learn to fight and be awesome. That's just her default state.

Small life lessons may be taught as we see in both Kim Possible and My Little Pony, but you can miss an episode and still understand the characters because those life lessons didn't really matter to the characters. They weren't there as part of some major character journey. They were there for the kids at home.

The second reason is that kids shows star kids and teens. You don't want adults to be too involved, but sometimes you want "adult" powers and so the kid and teen characters get ridiculous upgrades. A great example is Wade from Kim Possible. Wade is Kim's tech guy. He's also 10-years-old. Absurd? Yes, but they wanted Kim to have cool teach while also keeping the reoccurring hero cast mostly teens and kids and so we get Wade. Phineas and Ferb is another example of this. The titular characters are shown doing things like welding even though they're around 10. This happens because they need to have ridiculous skills for the show to work.

The third reason is that the more connected the characters are, the more stories you can tell. If Marinette's parents don't have a successful and popular bakery, then they can't be hired to cater major events like a movie premier. If Kitty Section isn't wildly successful, then they won't get invited to appear on TV.

This is why Kim Possible made Kim's dad a rocket scientist. It let the show use rockets and advanced tech in several episode. There's at least one where they go to space! The main character of My Little Pony is the student of the kingdom's ruler, allowing the show to include princesses and have plot lines around things ranging from royal balls to diplomatic missions. Things they couldn't do if it was just about some random ponies with no connections.

Some kids shows keep the characters more normal and stick to more realistic hijinks, but when your show is about magic and superheroes, it makes sense to go big.

The reason Miraculous' version of these things doesn't work for some people is probably because of our ever present issue: Miraculous feels too serialized. There's too much connective tissue for the characters to get away with being stagnant. The lessons they "learn" are too big to just go away never to be touched on again. They are not their best selves from day one. They actually do need to grow! This makes the things they're good at feel hollow to some because the show didn't set Marinette and Adrien up the way Kim Possible set up Kim and Ron or the way Phineas and Ferb set up its leads. The character's adult skills don't fit their very real flaws.

Similarly, the show has added all these celebrity connections and then done stuff that makes it feel like those connections should matter to the plot when that's not the way this is usually played. My Little Pony kept Princess Celestia well removed from the things Twilight and her friends were getting up to. It never felt like she should step in. She had a kingdom to run! The show also never treated Twilight's connection as a big deal. Celestia might be the country's ruler, but she's very down to earth. She doesn't feel all that special.

Meanwhile, in Miraculous, the celebrities are treated like celebrities, they often have close ties to the cast, and they are actively around, making it feel like they should play a part in the story at times. The big example is, as always, Lila's lies. Many of them should fall apart because of who the cast knows or, conversely, the cast shouldn't care about Lila's celebrity friends because they have those friends, too. Princess Fragrance was a season one episode and gave Rose a close friendship with Prince Ali that is confirmed to be ongoing in season four's Guiltrip, making it deeply confusing when Rose never catches on to Lila's bullshit. You're really telling me that Rose never once talked to her good friend Ali about her good friend Lila? Really? Rose? Little miss loves-to-talk-about-her-friends-and-how-much-she-love-them? Sure, writers. Sure.

In summary, the problem isn't that the characters are too cool, connected, and talented, it's how those ideas were executed. There are versions of the show where the characters are fine being the best things ever and versions of the show where those elements should have been toned back. I can't really say which canon should have done because canon is a mess of episodic stories and serialized elements that has no idea what it's trying to be.

I wrote down any info that I thought was even remotely relevant or interesting, because I need all of it to be able to write my made up S3 and 4 versions of the show.

All of this info is a mix and match of all of the Making Fiends stuff that is available to us, aka:

The webisodes + the alternative versions of them + the character commentary ones. The Nickelodeon show, the Making Fiends website and the Making Fiends fan wiki.

Why am I showing you this? Because some of these are funny to me and about 70% of this info sounds like I'm just making shit up... to be fair, take some of these with a grain of salt, cuz sometimes I made assumptions about things rather than writing down the obvious.

Anyways, let's get into it, I put it into a Google Doc to make it easier.

Ever After High hot take: how come in that one webisode where Raven does her guitar solo, Sparrow says that practice is for losers, but then is seen interrupting Raven’s practice…. but he was playing his guitar and practicing every time he interrupted her.

“It pays to practice” like actually he did practice, he’s almost never seen without his guitar.

I am bingeing the EAH webisodes right now using Athena's post. We had Netflix growing up, so I only watched what was available there, and I have the books ingrained into my soul, but this is my first time watching EVERY webisode, which are far more lighthearted in tone.

I have come to the tragic realization that if I went to Ever After High, I would be friends with Sparrow Hood. And not just in the way that the other boys are friends with him in the "I tolerate him" sense, I would have been literally in his main friend group.

Obnoxious music kid who Could Not Care Less about whatever school drama is happening and is the resident overachieveing gifted kid's (Duchess) friend? Yeah, that was EXACTLY my crowd in high school. Literally, I just described my high school friend group. We were RUNNING the anti-prom. I would have been ditching True Heart's Day to eat pizza at Sparrow's rehearsal.

I love that for you. I wish they didn't make him like fake punk though. We need to make Sparrow a real punk.

Ok, so I've been obsessed with Monster High since it came out, and my favorite character has always been Jackson Jekyll. And you know what? Not only is he an underrated character, but like, they made his background super detailed and complicated for like no reason. I couldn't tell you how many times I've gone on long rants trying to explain it all.

Think of this like a combination of different wikis. This is based on Generation 1, the movies from Boo York Boo York and previous, the diaries, the webisodes, and some of the books. I have not watched anything from Gen 2 or 3, which really doesn't matter because Jackson isn't in any of the reboots.

Basic Information

Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde are two people in the same body. They have different memories and different personalities.

Jackson Jekyll is 16 years old. His favorite color is yellow, his favorite food is mac & cheese, and his birthday is May 30th.

Holt Hyde is 16 years old. His favorite color is orange, his favorite food is hot wings, and his birthday is May 30th.

They both have a pet chameleon named Crossfade.

Jackson is a bit of a nerdy type. He enjoys wearing bow ties and sweater vests. He likes to play video games. He's crazy smart, and his favorite subject is Mad Science.

Holt has a rocker style with his everyday outfit being a red leather jacket and purple pants. He also shows more of their fire elemental side than Jackson, so he incorporates flames in all his outfits as well. He loves music, so he always wears headphones (not to mention that later becomes his trigger), and music theory is his favorite subject. He has a hot temper and can become angry very easily.

Jackson Jekyll is their default character. However, he transforms into Holt due to different triggers. His original trigger was it being either day or night where he was Jackson during the day and Holt at night. Later, his trigger changed to music with a 4/4 time signature, which is most music. In the diaries, Jackson states that his doctor believes the trigger will change at least one more time, and he is deathly afraid it will be something important that he can't avoid like taking a shower.

Jackson and Holt did not know of each other's existences until they were 16. Since their memories were different, they thought they had consistent black outs. Holt considered it just a way of life and how it was, but in the books, Jackson (thanks to the suggestion of Melody Carver) thought is was due to his extreme anxiety.

Family

Jackson Jekyll is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jekyll.

Holt Hyde is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyde.

Jackson was born half normie (mom) and half monster (dad). The thing is, his dad is not the Jekyll/Hyde. That's his mom. His mom is the normie half of the Jekyll and Hyde combo. His dad is a fire elemental.

Holt is a full monster. His mother is the Hyde, and his father is a fire elemental.

This makes Jackson and Holt half-brothers. They have different moms but the same dad.

They know they have different moms or at least more than one mom. They call her Moms in the books and diaries. Their mom (in both versions of Jekyll and Hyde as far as I can tell) is named Sydney, who is a science teacher at Merston High and likes to go by Mrs. J.

That adds on another layer because that means his dad took his mom's last name, AND his dad's last name changes depending on who his wife is because he married both the Jekyll and the Hyde. So does that mean every time he is asked his name, the dad has to be like, "I don't know. Let me call my wife,"? Like, does he just change his name every day or is he just Dr. Jekyll by default and then changes his name if he gets a call from his wife? And he's not Dr. Hyde but Mr. Hyde, so does he loses his doctorate when his wife goes crazy?

Anyway, Jackson and Holt are cousins with Heath and Harmony Burns. Harmony is Heath's older sister. Their mother is Jackson and Holt's dad's sister aka their aunt.

Friends

Jackson's best friend is Deuce Gorgon.

Jackson first met Deuce in the diaries where they played some pick-up casketball. Then, they met-met and actually started to hang out after the webisode Fear Pressure. In the episode, Jackson had started to attend Monster High but was being bullied for being a normie (or at least appearing as one), so Deuce decided to take pity on him and let him sit at his and Heath's lunch table. Later on, Deuce introduced him to others like Gil.

When they first moved to their neighborhood, which made them change schools and start attending Monster High, Jackson only became Holt during the night, so Jackson was the first one to meet their neighbors. One time, Draculaura made him a welcome-to-the-neighborhood cake, and when he returned the tin, he met Dracula of which he was not afraid and actually made a joke about stakes. This was considered weird because both normies and monsters were afraid of Dracula, for in the diaries, he was described as being like a creepy, no-nonsense Nosferatu. Later, Draculaura invited him to Clawdeen's Boo-B-Que where he met The Wolfs.

During the night, Holt would come out and walk around. There, he studied his neighbor's houses and saw them very occasionally.

Holt actually went and became a DJ with the nickname DJ Hyde. While working a party, he met Draculaura. She was dancing the Transylvania Trance. He thought she was attractive and approached her by calling her Ula D, but she became confused because they had never met before.

That adds on another thing. Apparently, they can share some memories.

Romances

Jackson and Holt had many romances.

In the books, Jackson went to Merston High. There, he met a siren named Melody Carver. They started to date, but Melody met Cleo, because Cleo also went to this school for some reason, and they hated each other. So to get Melody jealous, Cleo ended up kissing Jackson. But he felt nothing for her. Then Melody started a band and revealed Holt, which started a love triangle except Jackson didn't know about Holt, so he didn't know what she was upset about. They ended up breaking up where she then got with a gargoyle named Granite who was also into music, but unfortunately their relationship never went anywhere, and Melody and Granite never became official.

Then there was Draculaura. Jackson and Holt both liked her, but she only ever tried to date Jackson. She said in one of her diaries that they ended up "breaking up", even though they were never officially dating, because he never went to their evening dates and could never remember exactly why he didn't the next morning. Little did they know it was because of Holt.

Then there was Frankie. She slowly fell in love with him over the course of Volume II of the webisodes in episodes such as Miss Information, Hyde Your Heart, and Hyde and Shriek. She originally liked Jackson because he was the new kid, and she was fairly new too and remembered how hard it was. She even stood up against his bully, Manny Taur. But then she met Holt and became conflicted because she thought she liked both of them and had to choose between them. After she found out they were the same person, she introduced them to each other, which is how they found out about each other in the first place. She then would record them talking on her phone so that they could talk to each other, but that got old fast, so she gave them separate phones specifically for texting each other. She decided they couldn't date until they got over their differences.

There was Operetta. In the diaries, Holt said that he liked that she liked music, so they went on a date at a concert. But then Holt got angry at someone, and due to his anger issues, he got into a fight. He and Operetta were kicked out. Her dad did not like that, and they weren't allowed to date anymore.

Then there was Clair. Clair is my personal favorite and is my OTP. In the movie Ghouls Rule, Holt got arrested while he and other monsters were vandalizing the normie school of New Salem High. He transformed back into Jackson while in jail, so they let him go thinking that Holt somehow kidnapped Jackson and swapped places with him. He became a fugitive, so Jackson hid by attending New Salem High. There, he met Clair. She stood up to bullies for him and even later defended him against the police after they captured him and tried to behead him (and no, I'm not joking). They had a discussion at the end where Holt commented that while Jackson and him don't agree on much, at least they can agree on women. He tried to kiss her, but she swapped him to Jackson first and then kissed him because, well, she didn't know him that well yet. She's an anti-police, anti-racism/speciesism, goth baddie, and I love her for that.

Side Notes

Despite being a huge nerd, Jackson is actually really good at sports. Jackson and Deuce only initially became friends because of a game of casketball. In Deuce's diary, he went to the court to play, but only saw "a lame human kid" aka Jackson. He was initially going to ignore him, but then Jackson asked to play. Then it turned out that Jackson could play very well. Quote, "I was gonna slide out of there, but he asked if I wanted to play some one on one. I figured it wouldn't take long to make him look like a statue out there, but I was wrong. He had a scary good jump shot and even crossed me over a couple times. I had just started to play really hard when my glasses got knocked off and broke. Now I have to figure out a way to get home without stoning someone, but dude just took off his shades and handed them over to me. He said to keep them until I got home and he'd get them later. Told me his name is Jackson Jekyll. He said he wants a rematch. I told him any time, any place. Not a bad guy...for a human." Also, in Friday Night Frights, Jackson attempted to join the roller maze team before he was stopped by Manny Taur. Edit: I just remembered he also plays volleyball in the Gloom Beach line.

Additionally, Jackson and Holt have facial piercings and tattoos. This is very rare and somewhat strange given they are only 16 and would at least need parent's permission for the tattoos. The only other G1 characters that have tattoos, that I know of, are Operetta and Wisp from 13 Wishes. The only other characters with facial piercings, not counting ear piercings, are Clair, Cleo, and Manny Taur as Cleo has the gem under her eye, Clair has a classic lip piercing, and Manny has a septum piercing. Jackson has one tattoo of a Ying & Yang symbol on his back, and he has an eyebrow piercing on his left eyebrow. Holt has two tattoos with the same Yin & Yang tattoo and an additional face tattoo around his eye. He also has a left eyebrow piercing.

The tattoos admittedly confuse me because the fact that Jackson doesn't have one of Holt's tattoos may imply that they got the tattoos separately, so they both just so happened to pick the same tattoo and then Holt got one extra. Also, their parents had to sign off on allowing their 16 year old son to be allowed to have a face tattoo.

Edit: Some people have mentioned that Holt's face tattoo may actually be a birthmark due it being mentioned in one of the diaries. However, this doesn't make sense to me because Jackson does not have a birthmark. So like many, I believe this mention of it being a birthmark was only added after they made the design as an excuse, and it should be left up for interpretation.
