NejiNaru it's a pretty cute & sweet couple, but Im curious, Why do you like this shipp & amoung the other Naruto's ships it's your favorite one?

I like them a normal amount as you can see. And yea they are my favorite ship, my otp, the ship ever to me!

Why do I love this particular Naruto ship? Well my brain latched onto this ship first before I even considered the other Naruto ships I liked (like kakagai), no joke. Them being a bit of a rare pair brings me pain tho cause half of the time i feel like I'm talking into an abyss w/ like 4 other people about em but what can you do haha.

NOW for the reasoning for this ship? I for one think they complement eachother in a way that isn't overbearing, if that makes sense? Neji's more stoic mellow personality blends nicely with Naruto's more upbead louder one in an almost perfect manner. Like yea those clash a bit, but not in such a way that hurts the relationship.

Both of them would also just get eachother in terms of curse marks and what they brought for the two. And I find that the mutual understanding over that and the support they would give eachother endearing. I mean c'mon Neji being there for Naruto so he wouldn't have to feel lonely or judged solely because of the tailed beast? Naruto comforting Neji and reminding him he's more than what his clan and mark dictates him to be? Reminding him that his destiny isn't set in stone? A tier stuff to me!

I mean Naruto was the one who opened Neji's eyes and pulled him out from his own darkness. Neji himself during the Sasuke retrieval arc literally tells him that and is shown having a great regard for Naruto and what he's done for him, you cannot tell me the Neji didn't at least have a bit of a crush on him.

I love em okay? They would absolutely understand and support eachother whenever needed. I can just *see* the vision and I almost feel my explanation isn't quite enough to convey why I love em sm,,,

One of my personal favorites, one of my two OTP JayRae. Jason Todd + Raven

Hello,

Ah... yes, my ship, my beautiful luxurious dinghy ship! I fucking love them. I would go to war for them. I would die for them if there was ever a ship to die for. I think we can all agree this is my OTP as well.

I think JayRae is by far the most underrated, beloved ship in the robrae line up. They have the best shot at a long term, steady, loving relationship of all the robraes in my opinion.

Ultimately though, while I love this ship they are flawed, and they aren’t perfect, but they are working at it and that is a dynamic which makes it real. Jason is a wild card, he’s a walking textbook of issues, and unresolved tensions, while also having a temper on a hair trigger and the patience of a fucking god. He’s witty, funny, temperamental, mental, cunning, resourceful, fucking fearless, loyal to a fault, emotional, Shakespeare nerd, literature lover, cooking efficienado, marksman, explosive loving, died and got better, most realistic and grounded bat with crippling self worth issues and a superiority complex to put dear old Luci to shame. Raven is a calming force, steady personality, a rock of a person, witty, funny, quirky, quiet, literature lover, pink wearer, cautious, practical, socially awkward, trying, lonely, lovely, cannot cook to save the multiverse, life giving, death defying, destiny thwarting, stubborn, tea loving demoness who is a goddamn Queen with crippling self worth issues and massive insecurities about being accepted, loved or liked by those nearest and dearest to her.

Together, on paper they do not work, however, they are just contrasting enough to actually last. Jason and Raven have the best clashing personalities that fucking work because they are both outcasts wherever they go. It’s been eluded to that they were friends, and close before Jason’s death, I could see them bonding over classic literature, their love of learning, a mutual friendship forged in hellfire and battle,  and a simple yearning to just be fucking accepted. The best part is that they are both so independent by nature that they could make a serious, committed relationship work; whether it’s long distance or they are together. They have that base in their personalities which makes it possible.

I think that Raven will temper Jason while not smothering him and nagging him, and in turn I think Jason will ignite Raven while not letting her fall into danger or controlling her. They are or rather would be a healthy dynamic in both their lives.

throwback time! Break down Two, please

How I feel about this character: honestly my interest in this series just like. dissipated somehow but, I still really do like this iteration of the doctor! he’s just a delightful imp of a guy with that character type I Love: the enigmatic, rebellious, grumpy, airheaded but capable parent. it’s like, surprisingly prevalent. basically any character that can be summed up with the “guy who starts fights and goes 'heyyy i’m just a little guy nooo it’s also my birthday i’m a little birthday boyy’” tweet.

it’s always nice to see a protagonist who just loves life and being in the moment. they don’t have any grand destiny, he’s just exploring for the thrill of it and feels he has a duty to help people. that’s a fun character. he’s also a very gay little man. if you haven’t seen it, search second doctor who. bring up any clip.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: lmao well, it’s jamie isn’t it. I know a lot of their tender interactions were played up for comedy to the british audience of the time like “look they accidentally held hands it’s funny”, and are basically the precursor to baiting but with the intent of getting laughs instead of clout, but dammit I’m not immune. (I mean. I also wouldn’t be shocked if it came out that one of the series’ writers actually did intend the subtext, considering the same guy wrote a lot of their closer scenes and episodes. like, the episode that has dialogue in it that’s essentialy a break up. but ig we’ll never know).

seeing these two guys bicker like an old married couple, but be absolutely devoted to and clearly fond of each other is really enjoyable. the actors had a great chemistry. also it’s very fun how some creators in the expanded universe material clearly thought this, too. like the audio story where they essentialy go on a honeymoon to a resort before the conflict breaks loose. and the beginning of “the wheel of ice” where jamie wakes up and walks into the room, and zoe notices he’s wearing slippers. then two walks in wearing socks but no shoes and it goes “and zoe realised where he’d gotten the slippers from”. oh my god they were roommates shared slippers. related to that:

My non-romantic OTP for this character: this is another parent-and-child dynamic haha, but zoe! I love how they bounce off one another with their similar self-assured personalities.

god there’s sooo much potential in there, with them both being extremely clever people subject to punishing experiences by an academy to hone their skills, which left them emotionally stunted in some ways, their rebellious streaks and desire to see more of the world causing them to run away. I also like how quietly proud he is that she blew up a supercomputer once. I think it’s funny how she forcibly got herself adopted by stowing away on his house-machine and once he’s satisfied that she can handle the risks he just lets her,

My unpopular opinion about this character: man does two even have a strong enough online following for there to be clashing opinions?? I dunno like. I guess I don’t see him as one of the darkest doctors? he’s usually tops those lists for being eesily underestimated and doing some powerful stuff like just... sending a large fleet of villians of the week to their deaths once for trying to take over a planet. but his general philosophy seems to be the whole, good will prevail, have hope etc.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: why was he travelling around with jamie in a seemingly post-jamie time, creating that Entire “oh they had more adventures off-screen actually” theory. I know I knowww it was the 80s and they didn’t care about the continuity of some children’s show, and sometimes it’s good for a series to not answer all its loose ends and let fans interpret things for themselves, but also answer this.

Richie can usually pair so well with people that I’m fighting not to just name him with a bunch of BtVS characters.

Oh, you know who’d make an interesting ship? Freddie/Faith. After she’s started fighting for her redemption and with her record, and having broke out of prison, I can see him not knowing where to place her at first. Then learning her connection to the supernatural, and a bit like him what with the destiny and drive and a certain level of immunity to the vampires/culebras, and now he doesn’t know what to think. The differences between a Peacekeeper and Slayer would keep them from really clashing in their callings, but also allow them to understand each other in a way. The fact that he’s fallen for an escaped convict and wanted fugitive would have him cursing his luck, lol.

I don’t think they’d get along, in fact I think she’d find him very annoying and he’d either think she was delusional or arrogant, but I think Angel would be good for Kisa. Not in a romantic sense, but in many ways he knows what its like to have to find yourself again and have this role thrust upon you that you don’t want. It’d be impossible to get them to actually talk, but I feel like if you did, she’d really benefit from hearing from him and he might, because Angel is a stubborn bastard who refuses to change his ways, learn that its OK to be a little selfish in your path to healing sometimes.

I really want Spike to meet the Gecko brothers. I think he’d irritate the shit out of Seth, but Kate would find him easy to get along with, in the affectionately annoyed while also amused and entertained sort of way. I think Spike would be delighted with the whole thing, calling Kate “poppet” and other affectionate nicknames, while ripping on Seth for being so wound up all the time and poking fun of the idea of vampire politics. He and Richie would swap stories, and while they aren’t exactly bosom buddies, they find just enough familiarity in the other that they don’t have any friction either.

Todoroki Shouto

I felt like doing a character meme!

Favorite thing about him:

Is it cheating to say everything? It is? Okay… I love how he’s painfully kind while also painfully bad with people. I love how he swore not to use his fire half, and he took that oath so seriously that he felt pulling Midoriya aside to apologize and explain (in depth) was necessary. I love that his hand trembled when he went to see his mom—especially that he was so afraid of being like Endeavor, he couldn’t bear to show his face to her for years in case she mistook him again. I love how he learns from his mistakes, whether it’s combat-related like blocking his field of vision against Stain or emotional like realizing how his spiteful focus on Endeavor has blinded him to the needs of people around him. I love how he doesn’t feel the need to posture and act like he has the answers: he can openly admit he doesn’t know and that he needs to reflect more to find the right path for him. I love how rude he is. I love how he unquestionably leapt to Midoriya and Iida’s aid in Hosu. I love his fight against Midoriya.

Least favorite thing about him:

Hmm…most of my problems are with Horikoshi, not Todoroki. I like that Todoroki’s reaction to Endeavor vs the nomu was complex, that he was afraid for Endeavor, cares about him, and is ambivalent about the idea of Endeavor’s “redemption,” but I wish his love for his dad had more of a foundation—from what Horikoshi shows us, I have no idea why he cares about Endeavor other than a vague, dissatisfying “he’s my dad” feeling. Why are Todoroki’s feelings more complicated than flawless loathing? What’s the basis for his ambivalent affection towards Endeavor? I wish I knew more.

Okay, for about Todoroki specifically in-universe…I guess I wish he would talk a little more. He seems like he struggles with finding a middle ground between saying nearly nothing and oversharing.

Favorite line:

That’s a nasty scar you got there *SLUUURP* and are you All Might’s lovechild. I also loved it when Todoroki glared dramatically at Endeavor and then failed hard at introducing himself to the kids.

…And I love the line where Bakugo stridently claims no, he will not tell stupid Deku his brand-new, top-secret hero name, and Todoroki cluelessly asks, “Could you tell me, then?”

BROTP:

Midoriya, Bakugo, Yaoyorozu, Iida—I think those relationships really speak for themselves <3

This fic made me love Todoroki and Kaminari, please give me Todoroki working on his sense of humor and he asks Kaminari for help, only to repeatedly and ignorantly roast Kaminari while attempting to learn.

Also, Asui and Todoroki are really underrated; I feel like they’d have understated but interesting chemistry. They’re both exceptionally blunt, and unlike some of the others, Asui is perceptive+grounded enough to notice how awkward and uncertain Todoroki is (instead of the coolest, handsomest boy in class image). I’d LOVE to see them talk about their siblings, since Asui is the oldest and she takes care of her mini frog siblings, and Todoroki is the baby of the family who’s trying to figure out his relationships with Fuyumi and Natsuo (and eventually, Dabi). Oh, and Asui has more respect for authority than Todoroki does, so also seeing them clash over that would be interesting.

Or! Maybe Todoroki finally, accidentally catches Hagakure in one of his area ice moves and feels really bad about it, so Hagakure teaches him to watch out for her by making a game out of sneaking up on him. She also exercises some teenage flirtation in his direction and he has no idea.

Or imagine Jirou trying to figure out if Todoroki has feelings for Momo and accidentally becoming friends as she susses him out and realizes he’s an irredeemable dork instead of ice prince badass. She’s appalled he doesn’t know much about music!

OTP Rarepairs:

Todoroki/everyone basically, so it’s more interesting to talk about my todo rarepairs than run of the mill ships. 

Todoroki/Shinsou is cute…they both enter class 1-a with the attitude “I’m not here to make friends” and get hit with a match versus Midoriya in the Sports Festival—oops! They both became heroes partly from antagonistic spite, to defy Endeavor / the stereotype of brainwashing, which throw long shadows over who they fear they could become, and despite being on the quiet side they’re both pretty dramatic. Idk much about Shinsou’s backstory, but he definitely has a bit of a depressed, wary aura about him together with his fiercely idealistic, “I will never be like that” attitude, a combination that would resonate with Todoroki.

Probably at first Shinsou would be pretty cold to Todoroki, since even after being accepted into class 1-a he’d have some lingering resentment for those who are naturally blessed and admission was a slam dunk, and, in an effort to prove himself against the quietest of the strongest students, he’d make it his mission to provoke+brainwash Todoroki. Despite himself, Shinsou gets attached as he tries to figure Todoroki out, and he realizes the sorts of obstacles this “naturally blessed, slam-dunk admission” student had to overcome to get here.

In short, I’m a sucker for it ok, brotp or otp i’m down, but also in this case the romantic element of seeing themselves in each other gets to me bad.

Second rarepair, Todoroki/Hawks—hear me out ok!! These two would have the funny elements of Hawks/Endeavor but without Endeavor’s grossness. Even after he makes pro, Todoroki admires Hawks as the number two hero whose playful, casual MO is radically different from his own, more solemn style, and Hawks delights in being obnoxious and pokes fun at the straightforward, a bit dense Todoroki every opportunity he gets. Todoroki recognizes Hawks’s playful demeanor and knows he’s joking, but…being a dork…he doesn’t know what to say, so he just responds with total seriousness. Hawks is perceptive enough to know Todoroki noticed the joke, and Hawks’s awareness of that transforms Todoroki’s awkwardness into a dry, deadpan sarcasm, and the two of them can actually, like…have banter.

Working with Hawks semi-regularly, Todoroki has to rise to the challenge of meeting Hawks’s quips with enough insight and empathy to intuit the bleaker truths behind Hawks’s facade as this guy who doesn’t want to work too hard. Todoroki grew up as Endeavor’s tool, Hawks grew up as the hero commission’s tool; Todoroki responded with defiance, Hawks responded with salty compliance; Todoroki prioritizes his personal moral compass over the law/government, Hawks prioritizes the government over both his moral compass and the law; and Todoroki admires All Might, whom Hawks professes not to be so fond of, while Hawks admires Endeavor, knows Dabi, and all the obvious issues that brings up—so I think these two have tons of common ground to build a rapport and also clash with each other in ways that would be interesting for their development. For example, Todoroki can tell Hawks it’s your power and encourage him to take hold of his own destiny instead of being used, and Hawks can help Todoroki work on the shortage of social acuity he inherited from Endeavor.

I love the brotp but the otp has such comedic potential fused with such tragic potential, like by taking hold of his fate Hawks makes some choices Todoroki can’t forgive, and by helping Todoroki learn to connect to people Hawks opens him up for a world of pain when things go south, I can’t resist.

NOTP:

As long as the execution is good, I’m good. A ship that I hate in one person’s hands, I might love in another’s.

Random headcanon:

Todoroki is the #1 cockblocker in Class A. Nobody kills romantic tension like Todoroki wandering in, oblivious to what he’s just interrupted.

Also, Fuyumi gave him The Talk.

Unpopular opinion:

Hmm…not sure how unpopular this is, but while Todoroki understands that Endeavor abused Rei, but I don’t think he understands that Endeavor abused him too. Clearly Todoroki understands that it was bad, but now he’s one of the best students in one of the best high schools in the country instead of on a psych ward (Rei) or in the ground (Touya), so he doesn’t realize just how bad it was. Sort of a, “I was strong enough to take it, so it wasn’t really bad, not like how he was to my mom.”

Also, I love tododeku and I love dadzawa, but I’m frustrated by the number of fanfics that portray Todoroki as meek and crushed under Endeavor’s boot, in need of rescue.

Okay, one last one, because I’m not sure how unpopular any of these actually are. I think Todoroki is actually pretty anxious to fit in with his peers? Like he seems pretty aloof and doing his own thing, but I think it’s more due to uncertainty over what to do than because he’s that naturally withdrawn.

VS Midoriya – Todoorki’s whole awakening, self-actualization sequence is beautifully, beautifully animated. I love the flashes to black and white and the graceful, profound arc of Todoroki raising his left hand.

Ch43 – His haunted expression when he extinguishes his fire, forfeiting to Bakugo.

Ch63 – He looks so sweetly earnest when he realizes he screwed up by disregarding Yaoyorozu’s opinion, and he immediately takes action to fix it.

Ch112 – His badass expression when he and Inasa wordlessly team up.

Ch164 – His sour, cross expression when Endeavor embarrasses him.

I had to make some painful choices on which scenes to leave out, but I think five is enough.

Top 10 RWBY Ships Redux

When it comes to ships, RWBY has some of the most creative and unusual pairings in history. Even though it’s a show about badass Huntsmen fighting the terror of the Grimm, we all like a bit of romance every now and then. Luckily for us, RWBY has some really nice pairings to cater to our romantic needs. Here are my top 10 favourite RWBY pairings.

10. Arkos

Jaune and Pyrrha’s relationship was a sweet one. She was one of the few who believed in him and devoted much of her time to training him to become a better fighter. Needless to say it paid off. Jaune, while dense as a brick, really does care for her. Hell, he even humiliated himself by wearing a dress just to make her happy. Not a lot of guys would do that. Probably one moment that stuck out to me was during Volume 3, where Pyrrha has a talk with him about destiny and whether or not she should go through with what she needs to do. It really is a shame that this got cut short, they would’ve made for a cute couple.

9. Iceberg

Weiss and Neptune don’t have that many moments together, but I do like the idea of them two being a couple. I find them bonding over being “intellectuals” (Neptune’s words) rather amusing. Plus, Neptune’s s charmer and Weiss definitely has a weakness for charmers.

8. Ladybug

Now I’m not usually one for yuri pairings, or shipping Team RWBY togther. But recently, I’ve developed a soft spot for Blake and Ruby. I think these two would have a good dynamic together, plus red and black always make a good combination. I can see these two bonding over their love of fairy tales and becoming heroes. Ruby’s idealism would clash with Blake’s realism but I think that would add more to their dynamic. I think Ladybug would make a lovely friendship/relationship. We need more of these two in Volume 7.

7. Yang x Nora

These two would fit perfectly together! Come on; Yang’s temper combined with Nora’s prowess? I would definitely love to see more of them together! If anyone has any fanfic of these two, send them my way!

6. Crosshares

Their dynamic would be a simple one to me; Coco flirting with Velvet daily to just to make her a mess. It’s simple, funny, cute and it works and it fits well with my headcanon for Velvet (bisexual).

5. Blacksun

Ah Blake and Sun. What more can I say about them that hasn’t already been said? Their dynamic is just amazing to me! Sun brings out Blake’s more joyful and fun side and their adventures together are some of my favourite in the show. I also love how Blake melts anytime Sun flirts with her, it’s so adorable!

4. Renora

They’re so sweet! Ren and Nora have one of the best dynamics I’ve ever seen. They bounce off each other perfectly and sync well during team attacks. Ren’s tolerance for Nora’s antics is something that should be awarded for. The way they care for each other just makes me happy, showing that they’re always there for each other no matter what. Strong bonds last a lifetime.

3. Knightshade

I know how much of a crack pairing this is, but I find it to be one of the more interesting ships. I think these two can bring very different sides to each other, Blake being more easygoing and relaxed while Jaune being more focused and determined. I also headcanon that Blake can teach Jaune about different styles of swordfighting, mainly based on eastern style. I think these two would mesh well together and I wish they had more moments in the actual show. Here’s hoping for Volume 7.

2. Dragonslayer

Another crack pairing but I absolutely LOVE Dragonslayer. Since Jaune is best friends with Ruby, I always thought that friendship would extend to Yang and have a spark develop from there. With their dynamic, Yang can bring out Jaune’s more rebellious side, while he can bring out her more caring, softer side. I also like the idea of them joking and making puns together as a form of flirting. These two need to bond more in Volume 7.

1. Lancaster

Of course this was gonna be number 1! In all seriousness though, I think Jaune and Ruby are perfect together. Everything about them works! Their friendship, their struggles, their banter, their teamwork. It’s just so cute! They would be the more “lovey-dovey” couple of RWBY, spending most of their time cuddling together or playing video games. One of the things that made me ship these two is their deep trust in one another, how they lifted each other up in their darkest moments, how they believe in each other. If someone were to ask me what my OTP is, it’s Lancaster hands down! I love these two together so much, and while I would be more than happy if they remained friends, I’m hoping that they do become boyfriend and girlfriend by the end of the series.

Ten Fandom Questions

I was tagged by @wondrousdianas - thanks bb! This is gonna be a ramble, so get ready! I even included gifs!

Ultimate otp: OUTLAW QUEEN. I wrote two novel length fanfics about these babies. And I did it out of pure spite because I was mad my ship ultimately sank. It doesn’t get more ultimate than that. I may never reach this level of dedication for another ship ever again.

Ship you’ll always love: probably Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter. I loved reading/watching their slow burn finally come together (although the burn wasn’t so slow for me because I came late to the Potter party.) I was also trash for Tonks/Lupin back in my Potter days. But if I had to reach further back into the archive... I shipped Tom and B’Elanna from Star Trek: Voyager and Mary Poppins and Bert before I even knew what shipping was.

Current obsession: I’m trying to be low key about it because I know we’re heading into a world of angst in the next movie, but damn it, I love Newtina. They’re so cute and awkward I want to fling myself into the sun. 

But I recently watched the second season of the remake of The Worst Witch and I kind of love Hicsqueak? Their personalities and the whole goth/pink aesthetic they have going on is so Gelphie. Pippa’s only in two episodes, but I’m here for it. (Also I’ve been trying to figure out where I recognized Miss Hardbroom from and I finally got it. She was in Downton Abbey! WTF.)

Ship you never thought you’d like: ooh. Maybe Avalance on Legends of Tomorrow? Don’t get me wrong, I freakin’ love Avalance. But I was pretty gung ho about Sara and Nyssa and I held out hope for a long time that Nyssa might come back. But when I started to see the sparks flying between Sara and Ava, I got on board with it in a big way.

Also: Peraltiago! I had my doubts about these two because Jake was so immature in the first season, but he’s grown so much. And their dynamic is so healthy. They communicate. They respect each other. They’re just so... noice.

Ship you liked but don’t anymore: ouch. Belle and Rumple for realz. I think this was the first time I actively stopped shipping something that I was really into. The thing is... Skin Deep was the episode that turned me from a casual fan of the show to an uber fan. Even though I didn’t watch OUAT all the way to the end, I would still rank Skin Deep very high on my favourite episodes list. But boy did this pairing descend into a toxic mess. I couldn’t take it. Then OQ happened and I decided to ship that instead. I had no idea what I was about to get myself into. 

Ship that should be canon: Ichabbie, Ichabbie, Ichabbie. We were robbed. They had everything: the chemistry, the lingering looks, the skeptic/believer dynamic, the tol and smol, the gradual build of trust, the fact that their destinies were tired together.... we could’ve had it all. What happened to Abbie was complete BS and I’ll die mad about it.

And on another note, Supercorp! Now that’s a ship. Two powerful, capable women being awesome together. Supergirl believing in Lena, Lena overcoming her family’s dark legacy... it’s all so good. 

Canon ship you hate: does Kara and Man-hell still count now that he’s off the show for good? Because that was the worst. 

Pair I’ve been shipping for years: I’ve been in love with Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy since I first read Pride and Prejudice in high school. The whole P&P relationship dynamic is something that I love in fiction. Two people meet, they get off on the wrong foot, they misunderstand each other, they fall apart, they come back together, they learn about themselves and each other in the process. I live for that stuff.

Ship everyone loves but you don’t: I don’t really care for Jane and Rafael on JTV. Raf is the dream guy in a lot of ways, but whenever he and Jane clash over important decisions, I just feel like he doesn’t always respect her point of view? Idk. I thought Jane and Michael had a healthier dynamic. 

Fav rare pair: Does Mergana count as a rare pair? I feel like there was a decent amount of content for them back in the day, but 90% of that fandom was Merthur, so it kind of got lost in the shuffle. But ugh. They were so cute and magical before it all went wrong. I blame Katie and Colin. They’re the kind of actors who just have chemistry with everyone. 

Oh wait! Morgana and Gwen! Now that’s a rare pair. I really wish we could’ve seen more of their relationship before Morgana’s descent into villainy.

Why I like them

She has a tragic past, and I feel bad for her that she is the one that truly doesn’t have a place to belong. Even if she is able to exist as her own person, where does she go? With Sora, Riku, and Kairi to Destiny Island, or with Axel, Roxas, and Xion? She doesn’t really fit into either group fully, and would stand out as a fourth wheel. I like that even when she felt weak and trapped by the Organization, she still never broke completely. She tried her best to right her wrongs and give Roxas a bit of happiness before he rejoined with Sora. I also like how she doesn’t blame Sora at all for choosing Kairi over her. I only wish she wasn’t so self-depreciating about it. 

Why I don’t

She is basically a blander version of Kairi. The only thing going for her over Kairi is that she has more “story” and notable screentime. It also annoys me how easily she gives in to what others tell her. Not only does she believe that she has no right to exist, but she pushes that belief onto Roxas as well. I know that some people see it as cruel, but I just find it harmful. Roxas should be able to decide whether or not he deserves to exist himself.

It used to be Sora/Namine since she definitely has a stronger connection with him on-screen, however, now I’m leaning toward Riku/Namine. They spent a lot of time together while Sora slept, and I think they would understand each other well. They have both done things they’ve come to regret (to Sora), and both deal with hating themself to a degree as a result. They can understand how the other is feeling much better than anyone (except maybe Lea). Plus, Sora’s loud, rambunctiousness would clash with her quietness, while Riku’s silent brooding would mix better. Riku’s protective nature would also work well with her supportiveness so they could team up together to take care of everyone else.

Being the shipping whore I am, my unshakable head canon is that Namine can’t help being drawn romantically to Sora, Riku, Kairi, Roxas, and even Xion because of her connection to Sora and Kairi’s hearts whether she wants to be or not.

Unpopular opinion

I don’t want her to ever wield a keyblade. If she is sharing Kairi’s body, then maybe I can get on board, but the amount of keyblade users is getting a bit out of hand (given that the first game made us think Sora was the only wielder). Plus, I feel that out of everyone, it is least in her nature to be a wielder. She fits better into the role of sideline cheerleader. 

A wish

I want her and Sora to have a reunion and for him to remember what happened in Castle Oblivion. I would also love it if he told her that she is just as real as Kairi even though he chose her over her. And it would make me super happy if that made Namine believe it even a little.

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happenI don’t want her to end up in a relationship with Roxas just because Sora and Kairi end up together. I don’t mind if they do get together, but give them a reason to. How I entered/learned about the said game/show/movie/etc of that fandom: So like, when it first came out I heard about it and thought “a Disney and Final Fantasy crossover? That sounds stupid” and I was also a nintendo bitch, so I didn’t play it. Fast forward to my second year of college, my good friend @dappington was a long time fan of the series and she got all the rest of us playing it. Anyway, I played like, 5-6 games in as many months and reached top-tier obnoxiousness, and then managed to chill out a little. I just recently put khux on my phone so I’m back in the swing of it XD

Fave character: Sometimes I’m unsure - like, I really love Xion, my brave girl. Saix is who I probably headcanon about the most. I also love the Destiny Trio, so maybe it could be one of them?

Anyway, other times I stop lying to myself and realize my fave is 100% Xemnas and there’s no escaping this fact.

Least fave character: This one I’m unsure about all the time. Maybe DiZ? He’s kind of an asshole. But also I find the quickness with which he jumps to the conclusion “I should turn this into data/put this data somewhere” is kinda funny to me. Need to get Roxas back to Sora? Turn him into data and put him in a simulated Twilight Town. Got some important info on this flash drive? Just stick that data right in Sora’s heart. Like, what the fuck?? Anyway, that’s not even relevant to the question.

OTP(s): #1 ship is definitely SoRiKai OT3. Good shit. Also have a lot of feelings about Xemqua, but that ship is the size of a pinprick and I’ve got specific hcs that seem to clash with the hcs of like, half of the Xemqua things I can even find. Also AkuSai. And if I wasn’t so very into sorikai you would probably hear more KairixOlette babble from me, but rest assured the feelings are still there. Pairing that everyone likes but I don’t get: Okay look, it’s not that I don’t get Akuro/ku, it’s just that there was a period in which I was very thirsty for akusai fic and like, a bunch of shit in the akusai tag was actually akuro/ku and saix was axel’s shitty ex, and wading through all that made it become my notp

Fave thing about the fandom: lots of fandom content, lots of creativity. There are some fan artists who make shit I really love. That Xemnas shitpost meme I reblogged earlier. I was laughing about that for like, a solid minute.

The most despised thing: Okay, I know I’m a super latecomer, but it used to drive me up the wall when people would whine about how KHII came out over a decade ago and KHIII still wasn’t out while completely ignoring that the series has had multiple titles come out in the meantime (especially since I dived in right about when KH 3D came out. Like okay, I know everyone wants the big shebang, but also there is a brand new title out right now)

If there is something I would change from said game/show/movie/etc., what would it be: I mean, probably just smoothing out some lore inconsistencies. Also, I’m not super impatient about khIII, but if the game had been able to come out well-polished and shit a few years ago before some key voice actors died, I’d change that too.

The Mathematically Ideal Pairing

I have two main types of OTP: impossible and inevitable. My favorite is when it somehow feels like both on some level, of course, because they're both expressions of the same ideal. I think I always loved the 'obvious' ones, the inevitable ones, which is often the same as the canon pairing, but only the good canon texts. While homophobia ran rampant, obviously any queer ship was never inevitable (even in 'Brokeback Mountain', which is rather recent, you have the tragic gays' tragedy being what's inevitable). But anyway, Kirk/Spock, Sherlock/John-- it's not like there's an alternative.

It's funny to me that some people don't get this. I mean, that's inevitable, but I just think, wow. I can't help being amazed and bemused, no matter how well I understand it intellectually. I mean, in *theory*, I get that people just get very different things from fiction, full stop. But in actuality, let's be real, some things are really obvious. And I'm talking about what happens when you control for heteronormativity; plenty of slash-friendly people (some friends of mine, haha) ship Kirk/McCoy. Shipping is all about personal preference, right? Well, I always thought, yeah, but. OK, except not entirely, because some things are built into the story at a really deep level. Like how Achilles felt about Patroclus. How are you going to tell the story of Achilles and Troy and pretend Patroclus is not, in fact, Achilles's driving motivation? How would his motivation even make sense without that absolute importance, the hold Patroclus's death had on Achilles? Everything turns on that bond, the same way the whole thing starts with jealousy, and Paris choosing Helen over a goddess. You could start the story of the fall of Troy in many places, but you can only talk about Achilles if you also talk about Patroclus. That's how it is with Kirk and Spock, Sherlock and John. That's what inevitability is. Stories-- real stories, at their heart-- seem endless and infinite, as infinite as the heart of each listener, but in fact stories too have a singular heart. A thing that makes them turn. Stories about great friendships are just like stories about great love, because in terms of motivation and the driving force of the narrative, they are the same.

I don't think most people would like many of the most popular, famous and legendary stories if they really understood them, especially if they understood this unyielding part of them at heart. The legends always have this sort of iron core; that's why and how they become true legends. Usually you know it's true 'cause you can change anything in retelling *except* the core (like, King Arthur needs Merlin and Guinevere to fulfill their roles, for example, and Achilles needs Patroclus and Hector). People are drawn to stories 'cause they reflect their own hearts, their own experiences, in telling and retelling. I understand that. I'm just saying-- that may be so, but the fact is, the truth is the truth and you can't escape its inevitable bend. A good story certainly pleases the audience, but a great story turns upon this inevitable iron axis of the characters' clashing and/or coalescing drives.

So what do I mean by 'impossible', then, and why do I like it if I'm so obsessed with the One True Reading in all things?

Well, I feel like when you take a certain kind of non-canon pairing, like Heero/Duo or Harry/Draco (or even Thor/Loki), what you have is a unique, poignant feeling of an unfulfilled destiny. A story untold, a story that *wants* to be told, to be given the chance to be itself, to *live*. There's usually some serious obstacle in the canon-- I'm not referring to pairings where the canon went three quarters of the way and then stopped at 'just friends'. That may suck for the shippers and for that story, but it's not what really feels powerful to me. What's really powerful is the feeling of thwarted inevitability never even tapped. Always tantalizingly out of reach, but potentially absolutely transformative. I get the feeling like there's some perfect universe, some perfect fic, where the True Story is finally told, and I can rest. I can be at peace, because the canon would be finally overwritten in a satisfactory manner. Of course... that's never happened. I've never read anything even close to said 'perfect fic' that can really replace or even just supplement a flawed canon, in any fandom, and I've read a *lot* of fanfiction. Most fics don't dream so big; fanfic is almost always too different from the canon style and genre to really compete while *also* being transformative, and that's on purpose. But the dream is there, for me, and it's what ultimately drives me to read and/or write fic for those pairings.

Anyway, so really I always see my OTPs as inevitable, even if they're impossible. In the 'One True Story', the story with the ideal shape and meaning, the One True Pairing is at the inevitable heart of the narrative, just like Patroclus is at the heart of Achilles's story. Consequently, this doesn't mean happily ever after, by any means. It just means that I think every story *can* certainly mean endless things, potentially, like how you can write endless plots in fics for your favorite OTP and they'll coexist and even feel true if they're in-character, right? At the same time, I can't help feeling like there's some deeper, underlying *intended* meaning that fits the starting points of characterization and motivation and the historical context best. Like you put all these factors together, like constructing a mathematical theorem from a bunch of given values and axioms, and you're left with the most elegant, neatest solution. The Perfect Solution, the simplest and most complete expression of all the emotional and social factors you started with at the beginning of the story. And sometimes-- maybe even often-- that story is never told, and never understood even by the original author, let alone fanfic writers. But that potential fulfilled is how you create a masterpiece.

In retrospect, it's no wonder I never wrote that sort of fanfic myself, given that true masterpieces are a bit difficult to come by, let alone produce on command by an inexperienced writer. And it's also why I'm so protective of the stories where the canon works just how it's supposed to, following a perfect narrative logic with mathematical precision. It's not that this always necessarily makes for consistently happy stories, as BBC Sherlock has always shown, but it is the only kind of narrative worthy of legends.

fuck it i'm posting a snippet of the swtor fic i'm working on because i am obsessed with the energy i have given these two (left = kavrix; sith inquisitor // right = lyrijan; imperial agent).

The trip off-world was uneventful. Upon reaching the Spaceport, the pair took a brief detour to the Agent's hangar, with Kavrix lingering outside her companion's shuttle as she'd stepped inside to dispose of her belongings. A brief display of grace, for she knew having Sith security obtain these belongings could open a can of worms neither were in the position to bargain for. As promised, Lyrijan was quick with the disposal, stepping down the grated ramp and brushing past the Inquisitor.

"You're more than welcome to search me now. Part of me would almost prefer that to the alternative."

There was a subtle purr to the woman's voice that caught the attention of the other. She studied it for a moment, trying to sift through the potential meaning in her shifting tone. When she could not pinpoint it, Kavrix merely shook her head and raised a hand, beckoning for them to continue on their mission.

"That makes one of us. I personally would prefer simply putting you down, should you show your hand." The threat was spoken casually, the Inquisitor's tone steady as she simply looked ahead. Spoken with the cadence of someone merely observing the weather. To her, it required the same level of attention, even if the latter brought her leagues more satisfaction.

Lyrijan simply sighed and shook her head, gaze fixating briefly on the floor as she steeled her own nerves. A part of her knew giving the Inquisitor the reaction she'd sought would only fuel whatever thoughts ran rampant in her mind. A part of her knew that she was ill-equipped to deal with such a confrontation, should it arise, and that it would surely lead to her death. And, beyond that, a part of her felt a simmering intrigue at the amusement that hid in her tone. She enjoyed the idea, but why? What was going on in that dangerous mind of hers? The question made her heart race, brought her mind to equally dangerous places. Still, she couldn't help the way her eyes fell back onto Kavrix as they'd walked together again. Crossed the well-traveled paths of the Spaceport's lobby to join the Inquisitor on her own ship. There was just… something about her. And the Sith was more than attuned to it.

"You act as if you've never seen a zabrak before. Wouldn't be surprised given how the Imperials tend to view alien species." The observation was spoken casually as focused eyes scanned over the star map. Fingers worked deftly to input the coordinates to their destination—somewhere uncharted. Way within the depths of the Outer Rim. Had it not been for the comment, the Agent would find herself intrigued.

"It's… not that." A lingering hesitation as she dug for her excuse. There had to be something she could use to save her dignity. "I suppose it's just you don't often see an Imperial in blue, let alone a Sith. It… compliments your skin."

A pause from Kavrix as she set them on course. Hand lingering over the ship's control panel as her brows furrowed and an inquisitive expression crossed her features.

"Yes, I'm sure that's it." She didn't buy it for a second; her tone made that much clear. "And here I believed your kind were trained to be convincing. If it were genuine, I suppose a thanks is in order. I did tailor these robes myself."

joking, of course, but i was pleasantly surprised that lyrijan's most characteristic dialog options were what would have lead to a peaceful resolution to the mission.

i personally imagine (not knowing the inquisitor's storyline, i want to finish one at a time so my details are straight as can be) that kavrix was here, too, and would have been the one to find lyrijan in the shadows and bring her forward. this would be the introduction point for the relationships to set off.

kavrix has done work on the side of her main mission for darth jadus for a little while now, having proven herself a capable enough recruit into sith inquisitorship. nothing official, of course, but learning of his plans through whispers and such, she realized that maybe... maybe this could be her way at getting back at the same empire who'd enslaved her and made her life a living hell (even if that meant the same for others; to her, humans (especially those blindly serving the empire) are all the same, so there were no tears shed for that part of darth jadus' plan).

meanwhile, lyrijan is the type to not just... let something like this go. where does darth jadus go? would he try to start something again? they're amicable, but she still distrusts him. the events of chapter 2 (which i haven't finished at the time of posting; either way, finding out the empire took advantage of your cybernetic nature and programmed you to be an effective machine is... a sour experience) distract her, but if/when she breaks free from that? nothing can stop her from poking her nose where it doesn't belong. why should she care? as long as she appears to do her job, nobody will bat an eye if she decides to go dark every now and again whilst hunting down darth jadus and his seeming apprentice...

and of course, they have eyes on her, too. the cycle continues, and there is potential for the trio to reach... interesting agreements 👀
