I genuinely think you guys should tell your aunt about your roommates behavior and threats, especially if she thinks of this woman as a good person and safe friend and trusted her to be good to you guys.

we have told our aunt, and it was actually kinda nice. she was very receptive and fully acknowledged that this is not a safe space for us and that we don't feel comfortable here. and she 100% validated that and has not once denied the abuse or tried to defend our roommate's behavior

but it doesn't really solve anything. she can't do anything, because if our roommate knows we were talking about her to our aunt she's likely to lash out and we can't take that risk. we still can't move out. we can't afford it and there's no one to take us in. it just feels extremely hopeless :(

I was trying to do the mental math on the previous poll to figure out how $50/h compared to my actual salary (I'm bad with money), and then I realized it was probably in USD which is like $1000/h CAD. (JK. It's actually $68/h CAD. I looked it up.)
