Thinking very deeply about magic systems!

I think I've finally settled on some ideas for how the one I want to use for my own story will work - evoking a little bit of 'equivalent exchange', alchemy type vibes (note to self to read up on real world alchemy practices and beliefs).

"Magic is an act of sacrifice", and the morality of the user is really what decides if that is a personal sacrifice, or if they steal/haggle/murder for the necessary resources (some form of life energy? Or magical energy inherent to monsters? Or maybe even all life forms have it to some extent, but what is worth harvesting and is legal to harvest and barter for...)

Lots for me to think about here. But do any of you have a magic system in your story that you've created? Just interested in hearing about some and how they work!

Every therapist I've had the past 15 years has told me that I have keen insight into myself and they seem confused about how to help me because I clearly am capable of self reflection and growth from that and tell me that I'm "so close" to happiness and it's like.

Rewrite: Who is your fave U3 warrior, and if you have one...do you have a headcanon of em?

(Rewrote it bc most answer Eyre or Camparri, in which I'm not exactly asking about them-).

It's the one with a smirk xD I hope you enjoys these headcanons, I tried my best.

Dr Paparoni himself is the biggest fan of Universe 3, he is proud of his universe as it is his home and even if his universe lost the T.O.P, he still view his universe with the most potential. I'm fond of him being the mastermind and he enjoying that role so much, this is true happiness for Dr Paparoni.

He is a daydreamer and his plans are inspired by he daydreaming with lots of details.

Though Dr Paparoni's younger years, his dreams and his daydreaming can be extreme that he lose himself in those complicated daydreams, but his creations and his work grounds him that it is a minor issue that he can manage. He is thankful that his creations (including Borareta, Koitsukai and Pancea) exists, partially they help him by existing.

His creativity and inspiration are from reading journals written by other doctors/academics and his occasional travels across the universe to pick up an invention or a element he wants to investigate that he finds it himself interesting.

He won't do things what he doesn't find interesting, he need to have an interest and passion to do what he does.

He love to dunk his hands in slime, it give great comfort to him, he likes Universe 7 for their variation of slime and that's it, he still don't like Universe 7.

Dr Paparoni used to work with Eyre before he went independent and wanted more freedom to make his own inventions like working freelance.

Even when he became an independent scientist and doctor, he did have maintain good relations with Eyre (they often make projects together) hence Dr Paparoni have some connections with rest of the deities though a bit distant compared to his relationship with Eyre.

When Dr Paparoni announced a new invention he made, sometimes Eyre come around to "check" as his official excuse to be there but he is interested what Dr Paparoni does this time.

He puts a tracker on his creations to see where they are and if they are going anywhere dangerous, he can keep an eye on them and help them if needed. He does not want them to be hurt.

His fingers can detach from his hands and fly like mini rockets, sometimes to alert his creations for a meeting (most of these "meetings" are Dr Paparoni wants to spend time with them, catching up with them and do any awaited maintenance)

Dr Paparoni could eat food but as more as last resort if there is nothing else is there. He consumes fuel and diluted cosmos in liquid form.

I've been watching/reading Apothecary Diaries lately so this is perfect.

As time passed and these, unfortunate, events continued; Silver just started memorizing and keeping a book of poison.

It wasn't something he did intentionally, it just happened. He started recognizing the taste of some when they are used again and again, and then be somewhat surprised when there is a new one.

Malleus and Lilia would help him identify the poisons after torturing capturing the culprit. Then as time goes on, as part of his training as a knight, he started learning about them as well.

After all, what better way to be a retainer than to know potential poisons and their cures?

Of course, the other three would prefer him not getting poisoned at all. But Silver being Silver, thinks its a great asset.

You could hear thunder in the distance whenever these events occurred. It seemed as if the shadows themselves moved eerily when these incidents occurred. Even Sebek seemed bigger and more protective as well.

I can imagine all the four Diasomnia boys have cures and panceas on hand. I imagine Silver's animal friends would also help as well in finding plants and such that are potential poisons or can be used in remedies.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if at one point, Silver just randomly spouts facts about them and people would be shocked about it.

Vet Bills and a Sick Kitty Boy

Hello all, over the past month and a half I have incurred some medical bills for my cat Alistair, that while one bill hurts but isn't world ending. Multiple have put us in a bind.

The Story:

So my sweet yet very hungry boy Alistair, had been having stomach troubles. He's 12 years old, so not uncommon for a cat his age, and he has always had a bit of a sensitive tum, but this was different. He was projectile vomiting mostly water, and I had noticed he was loosing weight. He is a long cat, and his healthy weight sits at 15-16 pounds.

So we take him to the vet and the do a initial blood panel with a special panel to check a for a heart protein, it is here that I learn my asthmatic cat also has a heart murmur! But because of the special check it had to be sent to THE ONLY LAB IN THE US THAT CHECKS FOR IT, which meant it was pricey

Good news, blood came back fine. His heart and kidneys weren't failing but he was still vomiting water at this time. At this point we were moved to a different vet who noted his long term tum issues. Informing me that long term inflammation can lead to Gastrol Intestinal Cancer. (Maybe) They only DEFINITIVE way of checking was to slice him open and do biopsies, which wasn't ideal. Instead we opted for an Ultrasound, it would check for inflammation, which would say absolutely yes or no on inflammation, but would still be a maybe on the cancer (however its the same treatment either way). But could also check Liver, Pancreas, and Gallbladder. I of course chose this because it was far less invasive to the boy. Alistair did need to be sedated. He isn't a violent cat, but he is a squirmy noodle.

This is when things got really spicy for us financially. You see this happened RIGHT before my birthday. Like legit I found out my cat had maybe cancer the day before. And my husband a few weeks prior had bought me a rather nice gift of storage drawers? IDK what you would call it but furniture for my art supplies to be stored in. It was a bit pricey but I was having a rough time and a history of astronomically shitty birthdays. (As you can see, the universe has a sense of humor)

So the Ultrasound came back. Yes there are signs of inflammations, so cancer is still a maybe. However, what had the doctors eyes and was concerning her more was the pancreas. It was, extended and incorrect. She believed that it wasn't producing a enzyme to help break down food, particularly fat, for absorption. Essentially, on top of the inflammation, Alistair was slowly starving to death. However before just popping some pig panceas pills inside my boy, she wants to make sure. So more blood work, TO THE ONLY LAB IN THE US OF COURSE, an another bill.

Now we are waiting on this information. He is on some pro and prebiotics that have stopped the vomiting entirely. However his weight is still quite thin. I am unsure if we will have more hefty bills. For reference a checkup at this vet is 50 bucks. So normally its not to rough on us, and check up plus vaccines is 100 which is a planned event. None of this was planned to say the least.

AND NOW THE SAPPY SHIT

Alistair saved my life. I know logically getting a cat as a means to not kill yourself isn't the best thing to do, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Ive had him since September of 2012. I love that fluffy biscuit stealing bastard with my entire heart. I have a tattoo on him on my arm, my first and currently only tattoo. Because of him, I was able to live a longer and healthier life and I want that for him.

Despite being a cat, he loves biscuits, potato chips, and the tops of muffins but only the tops. He can and will open cookie jars for cookies. I have explained he is an obligate carnivore and he has explained like a good southern he cant turn down a carb.

He will fist fight you for cheese. Love to play fetch with a hair tie. Isn't a lap cat with the exception of me. LOVES NAPS, and likes to watch Markiplier.

He's a very good boy with separation anxiety, and tummy issues who just wants to nap and eat and I think we can all relate.

So I've been lucid dreaming for awhile, using whatever random shit the dreams give me to come up with lore. Which means every time a fictional character appears in this world, they have to follow the world building rules. Effectively making it a crossover AU. For this post I will be sharing the Dream Realm counterparts to Precure characters from Futari wa to Fresh. Made this first on Twitter and will be fleshing it out here.

Explanations

The Races

Dream Realm inhabitants are divided among these groups:

Human (0% magic at birth, 50% gaining it during puberty)

Hybrid (Humans with animal features, 50% of magic at birth, 100% gaining it during puberty. Hybrids can have mythic forms, they're not actually hybrids as they can be born by two humans or two mythics)

Mythic (They're just furries, 100% magic at birth)

Lyrical (Elves, witches, zombies. 0% magic at birth but can be raised to 100% through training)

God (Gods can look like anything they want. 100% magic, they control aspects of dreaming. Half of the gods are born from stones, the rest are mortals who managed to ascend)

Superheroes

In this world toy companies have superhero branches. You have to be a sponsored hero in order to save lives legally... For examples:

Sonic and NiGHTS are owned by Sega in real life. Sega makes toys and games, giving half the profits to their heroes.

Precure, Super Sentai, Kamen Rider are owned by Toei.

Avengers and Spider-Man Marvel.

You get it, right? You can also try being an indie hero by hiring a manager. But it can get pretty pricey and some managers can be quite sketchy. To get a license for heroing there's an exam where you'll be thrown into a pretend scenario, several lives will be in danger. It's a chance to show off your powers and how you'd do in intense situations. Once you have your license you could get scouted, find a manager or search villains to fight on the Hero's Battle App. (This app is basically tinder for heroes and villains who wanna fight). Most people fail the test somehow, including my sona. Making me an illegal superhero...

Powers

They have every power imaginable, but most people only get one. You're also not born with the nohow to use them. Children born with powers are usually sent to special training classes from the age of 5. The strongest and rarest power is telekinesis, in this world it can be trained to do absolutely everything.

When a power is used a color will surround you or what you're aiming at. This is the color of one's very soul, it's not the same as theme colors. You can't choose the color and it's not your favorite color. In the afterlife spirits are their magic color from life.

Languages

All real world languages exist even if I don't speak it. Fictional languages such as Simlish, Psariin, and Samanian also exist. The main language across this world is Landrian, everyone seems to have it as at least a second language. I'm the only one who can't read it.... Any language I don't know the dreams somehow give me subtitles.

My actions can have severe consequences (i.e: if a character dies they're dead forever, if a building is destroyed there's no fixing it) so I be careful. My protagonist is Rin Linette T. Foxington. The majority of dreams are from their perspective as they are my fursona and avatar on the internet. However sometimes to see other perspectives I will assume the role of another. Taylor Hebert Dead By daylight

My brain is rotten and I'm thinking about this for some ungodly reason. For this post I'ma make Bonesaw the killer and Skitter the survivor, because no matter what Emma says, Taylor is the one that survived :) Bonesaw "The Surgeon" Bonesaw is a 4.6 Short killer with a 20 meter terror radius with a 40 meter lullaby, the sound of a small child speaking, though muttered and distorted.

She can hold right click in order to mask her emotions to prevent pesky masters from controlling her. During this time she moves at 3.8 and is undetectable.

Once The Surgeon has downed a survivor she can operated on them. This takes about 3 seconds and its effects can be changed with Addons. By default operated survivors die 50% faster both by bleeding out and on the hook. Once operated on there is no way to remove the implant, much like tier one madness, but all effects are disabled when at full health. Addons: 5x Rare Jack's Knife - Common - Operating on survivors takes only one second Manakin's Plan - Common - Operating on a survivor causes you to break the next object 50% faster. Siberian - Common - Operating on a survivor gives you 50% haste for 10 seconds. Corona Pollentia - Common - Survivors scream when they see you operating on a survivor. Hookwolf's Core - Uncommon - Implanted survivors die 50% faster (total of 100%) Shatterbird's shards - Uncommon - When operating on a survivor all survivors within 50 M scream. Crawler's Flesh - Uncommon - Gain enduring for 10 seconds after operating on a survivor. Cherish's Hope - Uncommon - Implanted survivors are blinded Contessa's Aid - Uncommon - Survivors auras are revealed when within 2 meters of an implanted survivor Labyrinth's Photo - Rare - Implanted survivors suffer a 3% hinder when outside of your terror radius Panceas Madness - Rare - When implanted survivor is healing another survivor, heal checks are 100% more likly and more difficult. Failing a skill check causes the broken status effect for both survivors for 60 seconds. Defiant's Betrayal - Rare - When implanted survivor is working on a generator, if another survivor is working on it, block that generator for 60 seconds. Noell's Cage - Rare - Leave your terror radius in place when you mask your emotions. Imp's Beartrap - Rare - Survivors inside your terror radius when you mask your emotions scream and have their aura revealed for 3 seconds. Bitche's Tongue - Very Rare - Implanted survivors are mangled and haemorrhaged. Tattletale's brain - Very Rare - Implanted survivors reveal their aura to you for 5 seconds whenever they aren't moving and aren't inside your terror radius. Cooldown of 10 seconds. Regents Nerve's - Very Rare - Implants cause survivors to be exhausted Shadow of Grue - Very Rare - Implants cause survivors to echo your terror radius. Skitters Rule's - Iridescent - Implants can be removed by other survivors, taking 24 seconds. Survivors are broken during this time, this counts as healing for the purposes of mangled, nurse's calling ect. Golems Heart - Iridescent - You cannot operate on the obsession, whenever you operate, add the effects of two random addons.

Her teachable perks are: Trigger Vision - Whenever you down a survivor, all survivors within 16/18/20 meters scream and become incapacitated for 30 seconds.
