#phineas and ferb#gravity falls#perry the platypus#bill cipher#crossover#heinz doofenshmirtz#major monogram#great googly moogly#And at this one stand there was this forest service guy#and he was selling these really amazing muffins#they had Dunkleberries and EVERYTHING they looked delicious but they had nuts in them so I didn’t buy them#(I’m not allergic or anything I just think that there is a time and a place where you don’t put nuts in food#like seriously this thing was STUFFED with pecans and I was like that’s gonna ruin the flavor! Pecan…. that’s a really weird word you know#like try saying it out loud a couple times. Pecan.. peCHAAANs. Pea-can. hm. hm.#anyway)#but this guy had some other really random junk lying around so I decided to take a look and I actually found something really msyerious!#there was this book with a big ‘2’ on it and I couldn’t find the other ones so I was like hey where’s the rest of these and he was like#we already sold them off and I was like WHAT that’s so crazy#like if you’re gonna sell a set of books#WHY would you sell each one separately cuz that would really suck to just like#start in the middle of a series or get hooked and never be able to continue it#and I was pretty wary anyways cuz it looked so CRYPTIC and WEIRD#but he said he’d give it to me for 92 cents and baby that’s a STEAL#couldn’t NOT take it#I mean it sat around on my desk for months and I mainly just used it as a paperweight until one night#they stopped broadcasting America’s Got Talent on my channel and out of SPITE I decided to find a way to defy American Tradition#and read a book#….what? ohhhh you though I was gonna build an inator over this#no at the time I was already working on a Tuesday Inator that would force every Calendar in the Tri-State area to always have every day#as Tuesday so I could ALWAYS have a discount on tacos! do you know how OVERPRICED those things are when they’re not on Tuesday?

Now that we have tackled the savoury food, let’s proceed to the sweet stuff as I headed over to the Dessert Station which was also next to our table; how convenient. The desserts were placed on marble counter surrounding a centre pillar.

I have not had Basque Burnt Cheesecake before so this is my first time trying. The burnt and caramelized surface hides a creamy interior that was so rich, creamy and velvety. This just begged to be eaten more than once and I did just that.

Beside it was the Pecan Tart topped with plenty of toasted pecan nuts and a cape gooseberry. The brown sugar filling that holds the nuts together was not overly sweet making this a plus point. I did not try the Carrot Cake so I can’t comment on it.

The New York Cheesecake was not as rich and cheesy as the Basque Burnt Cheesecake so if cheese is not your favorite thing, give this a try. Gave this Cream Caramel Custard a miss too as my tummy was almost at full capacity but my “son” took a scoop of it.

Pecan learnin
Hello everyone and welcome back to Fun Facts™ and since it is pecan season in the south and I am in full squirrel mode I will subject you all to learning things about the pecan tree and its most delectable nuts.

The pecan tree (Carya illinoinensis), of the walnut family, is a large species of hickory tree native to parts of the southern United States. Naturally it prefers to grow in riparian areas, and is prone to breakage and uprooting in high wind conditions when not sheltered.
Interestingly, it is one of the most recently domesticated major food crops, but “wild” populations have long been appreciated by Native American populations as well as later settlers.
The reason it is so appreciated is, of course, these.

The pecan is similar in many ways to its close relative the walnut, but is less bitter, more oily, and with a far thinner shell. This lends it to many preparations and simply eating them roasted or fresh, but they shine most in sweet deserts.

Unfortunately, this past year in Alabama has been extremely dry, which has led many of the pecans from our orchard to look like this.

Growing up, I picked many hundreds of pounds of pecans and at the time didn’t really appreciate them. As I have grown though I have come to enjoy the blessing that they are, and for all that the trees drop branches at the slightest breeze, they are great to smoke and grill things over.
