So, in my adventures across various platforms, I started a journey on Bluesky. I found a discourse on the twitter post about waffles and pancakes (iykyk). One of the under comments listed how the communities of various platforms would process the waffle/pancake discourse. Someone under commented that with a take on how this beloved hellsite would handle it.
Thoughts?

Btw, I like pancakes, waffles, French toast, AND crepes.

Idk I feel like we as Franco fans shouldn’t need to walk on eggshells and apologise for all the nasty fans constantly, considering no other driver fans have to do the same to get any form of decent respect or acknowledgement on tumblr 🤷‍♀️

This video is why I don't believe the pro-Palestinian movement really cares about Palestinians.
If it did, it would be centering Palestinian peace and human rights activists. It would be coordinating with protests in Gaza. It would know that protests and activists in Gaza exist.
I wouldn't have to dig to find people like Hamza Howidy, Moumen Al-Natour, Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, Bassem Eid, the Center for Peace Communications, or the people Hamza mentions in this video.
People would care that Hamas actively threatens, tortures, and executes them. They would care that Hamas has controlled all media in Gaza for 17 years, actively and violently silencing Palestinian voices. They would fight for those voices.
The message I've gotten from this movement for nearly a year, from the first rallies celebrating October 7 through today, has been that Hamas is somewhere between "unimportant" and "goals," Israel is the supreme and only evil, and Palestinians? They're only important when they're dying.

i think sharing a published academic paper on wag pages on the subject of a very niche part of engineering that lily z just happens to be co-author on is incredibly invasive behaviour actually

I don't know how "ask box trick or treat" works, but hi, I bring you a photo of my most beloved plushie since I was about 4, in return for a trick or a treat perhaps? Their name is Finke
Tumblr media
(Pls excuse the fact that I managed to accidentally unfollow for a moment while trying to send an ask, whoops)
Ohh thank you for the trick or treat, you did perfectly! I love your little plushie, they are so cute and the name Finke is really sweet. I also have a very old killer whale plushie however they don't have a name. For you I made this painting as a treat:
Tumblr media
"You were my friend"
It's about the killer whales from long ago who lived under human care, when marine parks were just starting out. And the things they went through because people back then didn't really know what they were doing yet. Pools too small, healthcare very subpar, training not up to modern standards. Whales were regularly manhandled for procedures, or the pools simply drained for cleaning or vet checks. And yet these animals placed their trust in the people they met. Even if those only stayed a while, came and went, put them through painful procedures, took care of them only as a summer job.
It is strange, looking at those old grainy black and white photos. Like a different world back then. All these whales. All these people. The blurred face of the trainer is supposed to represent the anonymity of the people they met. Contrasted with the delicate trust they received from the whales regardless.

i am a little annoyed at the silence from so many streamers and cc's about the whole twitch labeling queer people as politics or 'sensitive social' issues thing.
like, so many of these streamers were very vocal about how bad kick is so i don't get why they're not speaking out here? the biggest streaming platform just said 'your identity is politics' to all queer streamers and i've heard very little about from streamers who certainly were vocal about other things. it's just a bit frustrating.

Was your Safe Spaces post discord-(or any closed forum I guess) specific, or do you think the same should go for fandom-themed blogs on tumblr? Like, if I follow someone for Doctor Who content, I'd rather they didn't put real world issues on my dash, but otoh, it's their blog and they get to decide what they post on it (preferably tagged so I can curate). I've observed that people that run themed blogs that become popular often seem to feel an obligation to use their platform for activism (or, in the case of crypto-radfems, deliberately built their platform to recruit), and it stresses tf out of me for the reasons you mentioned, but it's not like the maintags are much safer because there will be spam relating to real-world issues, or antis trying to relate fiction to real world issues.
Realistically; the same outlook can and could be applied to any social setting. Be it online, private, public, face to face, ect.
Your point about obligation in terms of platform scale is something I've also noticed and have been dabbling about raising. Mostly because you see it a lot with celebrities or public content creators who receive a large following. Its often less that they feel obligated and more than they're usually bullied into it.
For example; I follow a trans (FTM) vlogger on Instagram. His entire online presence is based around being trans and helping to educate people and support people in regards to learning about being transgender, transgender health, his personal transitional journey, ect.
He's got a modest following, nothing ridiculous but I think right now he's sitting at around 75,000 followers.
And as of late, there are random people who don't follow him and aren't at all interested in what he has to say flooding his comment section with things like:
Why didn't you mention anything about Gaza?
All these followers and no shout outs for smaller creators?
What are you doing to raise awareness for X?
All these views could've been used to raise awareness for X.
And its fucking ridiculous. People are pressuring a middle class trans man with 75,000 followers to accept responsibility for counter-responding to a literal war when there are actual celebrities and billionaires with both the actual reach and money to make a difference who simply refuse to because they won't personally benefit from it.
I used to run a really popular fandom blog here on Tumblr. For an actual fandom, not just what I do here and now. It started off small, but I eventually grew it to the point where my follow count was creeping toward 10,000. Which for Tumblr and for a fandom-specific blog was not at all insignificant.
And the moment my notes count started going up, the demands started flooding in. People expecting me to reblog their donation links, demanding I share their friend's aid post, asking why I wasn't reblogging awareness posts or donation drives, ect.
Its largely because its easier to harass accessible people over it than it is to harass someone like Kim Kardashian, but its also because again: we have such a skewed understanding of what is actually effective in terms of activism and circulation of information.
Most of it comes down to shaming people and trying to assert that they're a bad person for having the privilege and benefits of a large following but not doing anything for other people or to 'deserve' that following. They're 'a bad person' for having 75,000 people's attention and not using it to force them to be aware of X.
A good example of proper audience targeting and activism is the page We Rate Dogs.
We Rate Dogs will share awareness posts and donation drives.
About dogs.
Because their followers are there for the dogs. Their followers like dogs. They want to enjoy dog content and help dogs.
If they started sharing posts about war and death and rape, the people who are following them to see cute dog videos will simply unfollow them.
They're using their targeted platform properly.

Anyone saying Jack and them are obsessed with dream and these dramas are truly not grasping the point. JACK AND THAT WHOLE GROUP WERE THE ONES ACTUALLY INTERACTING WITH DREAM! THEY WERE THE ONES INVOLVED!! I DON’T CARE HOW MUCH YOU PARASOCIALLY LOVE DREAM YOU WEREN’T IN THOSE CALLS!! AND DREAM IS THE MAIN GUY STILL BRINING IT UP LIKE HE’S THE VICTIM IN ALL OF IT!!
If he can’t take true accountability and acknowledge the real wrongs and fucking get off the internet to fucking grow as a person, then this is no reason to bat for his defense.
You don’t get to dictate how they talk about it or how long their healing is. Just shut uuuuppp your value to this conversation is as much as moldy fucking bread

hiii!!
assuming you're an "og" swiftie or sm, stans from which era would you consider as new swifties? also, i saw a lot of people on tumblr/twitter saying that new swifties don't deserve rep tv and the ones who were not around in 2017 should stay away from it etc. and just wanted to know, do you feel the same? because i feel like, as swifties who were simply too young to truly be around in 2016-2018 era just get pretty easily dismissed and very often.
Hi anon! I'm actually not an "OG" swiftie on social media, or even in the fandom, so I'm the wrong person to ask. I've listened to Taylor's music since Debut, would consider myself a fan from about 1989, and hardcore Swiftie from probably around Lover or folklore. And only joined the tumblr side of the fandom around Midnights/Eras. So I'm likely considered a new fan as well despite being familiar with her from the start.
I think the frustration longtime fans feel is that newer fans (not necessarily you anon) are clamouring for Rep TV but completely misunderstanding what the era was really like or about. There's a faction of fans who want Rep TV because they want the easter eggs and the "bad bitch" vibe and want to fuel their tiktok conspiracy theories. When the reality was: it was not a "bad bitch" era. Taylor was in recovery from several things, she was finding her footing personally, professionally and in the public eye, and she was rebuilding her life after an extremely traumatic experience (that almost cost her everything if you catch my drift).
Fans who were around then are extremely protective of the original rep era for that reason, because the fallout from the "cancellation" cannot be underscored enough. Like, I wouldn't consider myself in the fandom at all at that point, but even I was extremely aware of what was going on. Taylor was absolutely pilloried everywhere. She was persona non grata during snakegate. It was relentless. So I think the fans who were around then take offence to people being like "fuck yeah Taylor is going to own all these assholes!" like when the chronically online think she's embracing being targeted by the president or the right wing zealots or Blake's legal case. The reality was that it was a very vulnerable time for Taylor, and Rep is a very vulnerable album because despite the imagery of it being this badass revenge album, it's actually about her opening herself up to love when she felt like the world hated her. So the commodification of Rep by the newer fans who completely ignore that and just want all the "bad bitch" songs I think rubs people the wrong way and feel like it treats Taylor like a sim, when she is a person who went through a life-changing experience that set her on a very difficult and painful path for years.
I do feel for younger fans who are experiencing all of this for the first time, because I do think some corners of the fandom are very prickly and dismissive. And as someone who is no longer young, but still newer to the full fandom experience, I do empathize with that because I have felt shades of that myself. I think all newer fans are welcome, but I think newer fans also have a bit of a "duty" to understand what Taylor is about and what she's experienced. It's great if you are excited for Rep TV to experience a new album launch! I've loved being around for the re-releases since 2021! But I think it's also understanding that Taylor isn't Easter egging her life, and the TikTokification of discourse has made it impossible for many fans to enjoy any of it because of the constant search of conspiracies and/or misunderstanding Taylor's music or her life experiences.
My rule of thumb is to just stay away from Twitter fandom in particular, but also tiktok and reddit lol. It's made for rage bait. Enjoy what you want, and have fun learning about this stuff all over again. :)

Sorry to send another ask, but what on earth is happening on Sunnytwt!?
I feel like the majority of “sunnytwt” isnt even Sunny twitter. It’s just like. Rob hate twitter at this point. No one there seems to actually even care about the show or the characters, they just want to fight and gossip about whatever the fuck Rob may or may not have done until they turn blue.
Logging on to Twitter to tweet about new info about the show or fun script stuff or just make a silly little Sunny reference that relates to my life and instead it’s just incessant fighting literally makes me go like this:
Trying to engage about the actual show or characters there is like pulling teeth, and that’s why Tumblr remains superior in almost every respect ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

going to throw my hat into the ring and say i dont?? rlly see flowey and asriel as the same person?? idk lots of people (used to?) see flowey as a means to an end to get asriel back in lots of fancontent, but i believe they're deeply different characters and if you like flowey you should like them for the little bitch he is and not as a "pre-asriel" phase you know
