LOVE when a video game protag is called a title. The Warden, the Watcher, the Exile…. Yessss be defined by a concept greater than yourself that will ultimately overtake your life

...ok, but imagine if we had the option to actually tell people that the gods aren't real in Deadfire.
like. it doesn't really have to change anything. actually, I kind of would have loved having that option and having it be completely useless. no one believes you. you are a Cassandra-like prophet, possessed by one god and chasing another, telling everyone you come across that those entities are not what they seem, and no one will listen to you until it's too late

My Watcher doesn't really have a great relationship with the gods but I'm noticing a theme here and it's making me feel some kind of way for sure.

the most overdressed woman in all of eora
(please click for better quality!! + design notes under cut)
Variel's clothing is very Vailian-inspired as she has spent most of her life on Vailian ships. She's also a big fan of puffy sleeves and the general opulance of Vailian clothes.
Doesn't ever bother to blend in, since no matter what she does her godlike features are going to make her stand out. Variel decided she might as well embrace it and dress unusually.
In the 1st outfit, the long skirt is also replaced by more tight fitting trousers (more practical), but i prefer the silhouette with the skirt. She's also wearing almost a full armour suit under all the fabric.
The only gems she wears are moonstones and opals and the only jewellery colour is silver.
Favoured weapons are swords and maces, with buckler shields for defense. Generally relies more on mobility and dexterity in combat, but is still able to take a few hits.
The marks below her eyes, on her arms and thighs (which i forgor to draw lmao) and back resemble pearls in appearance and touch. Her eyes are also pearlescent, often shifting hue depending on the light.
The moon on her forehead is not attached to her head, floating an inch or two away from her skin. She can put a finger between it and her forehead, but it's still a part of her body and can feel pain.
Scars - large one on her back and a smaller one on her forehead from a shipwreck before coming to Dyrwood, after fighting the Adra dragon: lightning damage up her shield arm, a deep cut on her jaw and chin after the end of poe1
