DREAMWORKS TROLLS: SUPER UNPOPULAR AND CONTROVERSIAL OPINION!!!

DreamWorks Trolls Opinion #1:

Branch's dynamic with Cloud Guy could have been great, if not for how they severely mishandled it for the sake of making Branch the punchline in the show.

Now hear me out!

Cloud Guy is an absolute menace to Branch who loves to prank and humiliate him, but in the end somehow makes Branch overcome something. This is putting a very toxic relationship on screen and making it seem like it's fine when it 100% is not. Now, I've never been a fan of Cloud Guy, but I do know the turning point of where Cloud Guy went from being a character that mildly annoyed me to a character I genuinely hate, and that was Apple Of My Ire. To understand this, let me give you a rundown of my feelings every time Cloud Guy is in an episode.

Laugh Out Cloud: This wasn't too terrible, seeing as how Branch was sort of intense in that episode, but that whole flood thing was really unnecessary.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Hugs: This was just funny. Only thing was Keith in the end. I love Keith, but Branch worked really hard, and Cloud Guy may have been the most annoying wingman ever, but he still got the job done. Although, he really needs to not break into Branch's house and respect his personal space.

Rainbowmageddon: This was just Cloud Guy unnecessarily humiliating and undermining Branch, but honestly I'm more upset with the Trolls because THEY'RE the ones the rainbow is affecting the most, and they're the ones who aren't taking anything seriously. Also, they were fine with just leaving Branch up there? Laugh Out Cloud was fine because I do think Branch was way too uptight about the drought, but here he was rightfully worried about the rainbow, and Cloud Guy and the gang were just goofing off. What's worst was the whole deathbed confession that proved unnecessary. In Laugh Out Cloud, it wasn't exactly a deathbed confession (and it would have been way better if Cloud Guy wasn't faking being scared) and Branch really didn't suffer all that much over it. But here, that was just mean. But honestly, it was the Trolls (Snack Pack in particular) that were the most frustrating.

Two's A Cloud: Now, this episode had potential. It was SUPREMELY irritating when Cloud Guy just moved in. It was also equally horrible when he was being an inconsiderate roommate, purposeful or not IDK but IDC. But them working together to get Cloud Guy's parents to leave was great. And even if Cloud Guy decided to ultimately not move in the bunker, it was still a pretty sweet episode. The Trolls just randomly bursting in his home, though, was awful.

Apple Of My Ire: This episode had me just screaming, and not in the good way. I don't know what in the world Poppy was thinking in finding someone new for Cloud Guy to harass, when she should’ve talked to him about reevaluating and changing their dynamic into something better. You know, something more healthy, or borderline brotherly. Because Branch is so little brother coded, and Cloud Guy honestly seems like a guy who would definitely mess with his siblings out of love. Not to mention, the last time they interacted was to team up to fend off Cloud Guy's parents. That's basically a brotherhood right there! But no. This episode ruined it. Because Branch was emotionally growing, and Cloud Guy pulled him right back to his old ways. And Poppy did NOTHING!!! What's worse is that the other Trolls were also in on this! Like why??? Do Trolls not understand harassment? They have a holiday dedicated to pranking one another, but constantly being bombarded by pranks seems like that would be terrible. Like, in Prank Day, POPPY was getting fed up with the pranks. And sure, she may have planned the prank she pulled on Branch, but she really wasn't taking being pranked constantly well, so why would she be okay subjecting anyone else to that treatment on a day that isn't a day dedicated to pranks? Better yet, if she cared so much about finding Cloud Guy a troll he could annoy, why didn't she volunteer herself? There have been multiple instances where Poppy has proven to be just as temperamental and easy to annoy as Branch, so why couldn't she be that Troll? She already had some practice when she was trying to help DJ with wrangling CJ's wooferbug. But what really took the cake was when Cloud Guy just openly admitted to planting a tracker INSIDE Branch, and no one did anything. Also, was that bit really necessary? When has Cloud Guy ever had to use the tracker? Rainbowmageddon aside, he always first interacts with Branch near or in his bunker. This episode turned their dynamic from frienemies-that-can-be-potential-brothers who annoy each other, to outright bully-victim where the victim gets shamed constantly for defending themselves. This episode made me hate Cloud Guy, and gave me such an ick, I can't even watch any of the previous episodes with Cloud Guy in them without feeling rage.

I have not seen Trollstopia. I do not have access to it. But I have seen people discuss the show online. More specifically, they discuss the episode Cloud Control. And what they discuss... I thought Apple Of My Ire was bad, this episode was infinitely worse, and I haven't even seen it yet.

The takeaway here is Branch's and Cloud Guy's dynamic had so much potential, but then Apple Of My Ire came along and every episode with Cloud Guy after that just cemented Cloud Guy as an antagonistic bully who gets away with it due to victim blaming and finding ways to make it seem that he was "helping" his victims all along, as well as a large dose of full on guilt tripping.

It all comes down to DreamWorks and their love of making Branch the punchline to everything. Even his trauma isn't taken seriously, as evidenced by Trolls: Band Together. Branch deserves better. Cloud Guy's character arc was brutally murdered so I guess he deserves better, too. Poppy and the Trolls need more character development and a crash course in healthy character dynamics. And DreamWorks needs to stop making Branch needlessly suffer for the sake of a joke.

Alrighty lovelies. It's been another busy day. Lots of clowning, lots of hope, lots of emotional roller coasters. I hope you had a good time and generally it was more positive than negative. I have a lot I want to say, but my brain is still pretty foggy. So I'll make this short.

Sometimes when things go well, our brain gets excited and then they overcompensate when we calm down. It starts to think a lot more negatively because it had so much extra dopamine for a time. When that happens, little things can be really devastating. I just want you to remember that we all make mistakes and YOU, you beautiful imperfect being are not your mistakes. They hurt, and we learn from them, but they don't define us. Try not to listen to your brain if it's telling you otherwise. You are so very wonderful.

As a quotev veteran of 7 years, someone who watched their friend get dogpiled on by big blogs 3 years ago in the Sonic fandom bc how dare a minor be uncomfortable with public porn of minor characters on tumblr, seen kids purposely catfish adults in the MHA quotev fandom so they could frame them for pedophilia any time their advances were put to a stop, the entire Revie and Jasper situation in the FNF vs Sonic.exe corner of twitter where one adult was partially framed once again by a kid that couldn't handle being told no, meanwhile the other had legit CP on their computer come to find out and was the Actual danger in the fandom 

So imagine my reaction of trying to escape to the fnafsb fandom and to tsams. Here 👏 we 👏 fucking 👏 go 👏 again. It's like everyone was born yesterday and baby spanking new to the Internet. How has No One learned the consequences of their actions. Adults included btw, just as childish if not worse than the teens that haven't learn basic internet etiquette. All I can say is thank God I've decided to grow and mature as a person. And by that, coming to the conclusion that everything is ultimately ✨none of my fucking business✨

In no scenario with strangers is that ever fucking okay. 2) I ain't gonna let the little fibs slide. I've seen the screenshots in the newest doc, I've compared the posts. But again I acknowledge that's a personal decision. 4) I did not fucking like seeing people stalk the gore anon victims once again just so they can dig up scraps to support their persecution of their past abuser. 5) I am in no way denying the abuse they did infact go through. It was horrible to see, and I can only empathize with my own trauma from abusive relationships. 6) I am also however acknowledging that trying to drive them off of social media is not a realistic solution and is infact anti-recovery. So some of you are infact a hypocrite for wanting to abolish prisons and then pulling This kind of shit. Revenge is not justice. 7) if you wanna cut someone out of your life, you have to stop talking about them and 'looking out for their potential victims' or you're just going to feed the flames of drama. Be the bigger person and put down the stick if you're tired of the burn. This goes for everyone btw. 8) for the record I would not be Nearly as on the fence as I am rn if it weren't for [redacted] having learned this behavior from also being a victim of somebody else. It is incredibly common for those that have been groomed and/or abused in the past to then continue to seek out those same types of relationships. Especially if they never learned the why or how said relationships were fucked up in the first place. 

9) it is no one's place to decide if other people are allowed to give someone a second or third chance to be a better person. Idgaf if they're a victim or not. You do not have the right to dictate who talks to who. That is red flag toxic yaoi shit my dear friend. I, do not agree with a few of my mutuals chosing to befriend or forgive them. But I also know it is not my fucking place to tell them to do different. It is not my place to control who is with who for whatever reason. I don't like it, I don't agree with it, but I ain't gonna start shit talking left and right, throwing my opinions all about, and force them to do as I do. 

This is where the maturity clarity thing comes in btw. I don't like it. I have a bad feeling about it. I don't agree with these decisions my mutuals have made. She was often busy with extra assignments from professors, but still took the time to go and visit Anne every few days with a basket full of sweets.

Imelda laughed, " You boys look like someone swiped your chocolate frog. Did you think you were the only ones interested? Garreth has been sniffing around the new fifth year since the first potions class."

"Fucking Weasley" Sebastian froze at that thought. What in Merlin's name was wrong with him? He always thought Weasley was a fine chap. A little annoying but tolerable for a Gryffindor.

"Speaking of potions class, we'd best get going or we will be late. I'm barely passing as it is." Ominis tugged Sebastian's sleeve to go to class.

Sebastian followed in silence until they got to the classroom door and Ominis turned to face him. "You're my potions partner and I would very much like to pass, so please do not wallow or brood and pay attention. Unless you want me to accidentally add bobotuber juice instead of Horklump oil. Or need I remind you the ingredients are not labeled in braile"

Weasley was already sitting next to His Hufflepuff. Putting dittany in her hair as she slept. Thakkar was across the table snoring with a mustache already drawn on. Sebastian slammed his books down on the table behind them and woke both up with a start.

"Orion!" She shouted in her startled state.

Weasley laughed while the new fifth year looked around with confusion. She rubbed her eyes and yawned. "Is it ready?"

"Just finished. Added the cinnamon like you said. " Weasley poured out something from the cauldron into a mug through a sieve. She took the mug and turned towards Thakkar, then sighed. "You really couldn't help yourself Garreth"

"Nope." Weasley began to prepare another mug while his Hufflepuff friend gently woke the sleeping Ravenclaw. Amit mumbled a bit before waking up and taking the mug from her with a grateful smile. The new fifth year pulled a handkerchief from her book bag and began to wipe Amit's face. Amit was shocked and stuttered in confusion, until she showed him the ink rubbing off onto her handkerchief. He chuckled and started to pull the dittany from her head. Garreth handed her a mug with an apology and started to help undo his work.

Sebastian's grip on his book tightened. He knew that she was easy going and friendly, but people would misunderstand her and spread rumors. She was all easy smiles and always willing to help others. Add that to the fact that she was undoubtedly beautiful so no matter what she did tongues would wag. . Hell, he saw a fourth year walk into a column when she bent over to pick up a book she dropped. He would have decked him for looking if the column hadn't done it for him.

"Can you please stop brooding and be a little less obvious about your jealousy. She's not beholden to you, and you know it. "

"I'm not-"

"OH please shut up, you're not fooling anyone."

"Ominis. Are you alright?" Y/N asked from her seat.

"Yes, just scolding Sallow for sneaking in after hours."

She gave Sebastian a smile and shook her head as if to tell him he shouldn't upset Ominis like that. Garreth nudged her and motioned to her bag and she smiled as brightly as Sebastian had ever seen.

Sebastian's favorite Hufflepuff approached their table, pulling a roll of leather from her satchel and handing it to Ominis. “I made you a gift I thought you could try today”

“What is it Ominis?” asked with some surprise. She rolled out the plain leather and took Ominis hand gently in hers, to Sebastian's surprise Ominis let her. “ she fanned out his fingers across the leather then pulled some dittany from her hair and gave it to Ominis in his other hand, “place this on the leather pad.” Ominis followed her direction and the word Dittany was spelt out along the leather roll along with the braille version. Y/N guided his hands along where the braille was and allowed him to feel the change. Ominis smiled in amazement.

“Now you’ll always know if the ingredients are right, it should also work in herbology for the seeds. The Professors really helped when I pitched the idea. Garlic, Howin and Sharp all helped with the recognition and testing, Ronen helped with the charms work and professor Weasley supervised. Garreth and I came up with this last week.”

Garreth waved, like an idiot, realized his mistake and said “It was mostly her idea, I just recruited a few people.”

“This is very kind y/n, Thank you. You as well Weasley” Y/N very much looked like she wanted to hug him but kept her hands to herself. She was often hugging her female friends and admitted to Sebastian once that it was hard to hold back and be proper with others so she would often clasp her hands to hold back. She was gripping her satchel tightly to her chest practically vibrating with the desire to hug Ominis.

“Your welcome Gaunt, you should hug y/n as thanks.” Garreth, ever the pot stirring, egged them on.

“What?” Ominis asked incredulously, completely oblivious to y/n’s blush.

“Well if you find it so objectionable I will.” Weasley hugged her from behind and grinned while she squirmed. He made eye contact with Sebastian and looked surprised for a moment, then laughed and plopped her back on her chair. Y/N straightened out her cloak and grumbled a bit smacking Weasleys shoulder. He crumbled in fake pain and terror, begging for mercy while Amit chuckled.

Ominis was testing his gift with the ingredients and phials at his station. "This is magnificent."

Sebastian gave a noncommittal hum. Ominis sighed in response. "Really, you are too transparent" Ominis turned towards the other table to speak to Y/N.

"By the way, the school is buzzing about your late night excursion. Care to speak as to what happened?" Ominis blessedly asked the one question Sebastian couldn't voice.

Y/n opened her mouth to answer but Professor Sharp walked in " after class " she whispered and turned her attention to the professor.

“Today we will be covering a very precise potion , The Draught of Peace can either help those with extreme anxiety and stress sleep and relax or send them into a permanent sleep, there are several in the sleep ward at St Mungos, in case you need an example”

Sharp pulled out a vial of a milky white liquid with a dove shaped stopper, “The instructions are provided in your cauldrons, assist each other, because you will be testing this draught on each other. And Weasley, no straying from the recipe, or I’ll have you drink it yourself.”

Weasley grumbled a bit about the lack of “trust in the creative process” when y/n elbowed him and told him to hush.

“The mandrake you began stewing yesterday should be sufficient for today, be very precise with both your ingredients and stirring directions. You can help each other but remember this is a time sensitive potion. Begin.”

There was a shuffle as students began to pull their ingredients and instructions and prepared for the position. Today's lecture was for three hours with a blessed break in between. Everytime Weasley came up with a "brilliant" idea Y/N would write it down and redirect him to the actual instructions.

Y/N was very good at potions and most other classes. She claimed to struggle with arithmancy and transfiguration but he usually saw that she did very well in class too. Most of the teachers also seemed to have a soft spot for her as she was willing to take on extra assignments to catch up and stayed after class for questions. Sebastian knew that she was insecure about being behind everyone else so she over compensated with extra assignments. Sebastian was pulled from his thoughts when Ominis pinched his underarm.

"If you are quite finished brooding, I still need you to tell me if the color is fine."

"Hells, wait let me check. Is this your first step? Yes it's green. Stir. It's blue, add more. Good, it's purple, turn the heat down"

Sebastian turned to start his potion, he needed to focus lest he put Ominis into a coma. He told Ominis when the color was right, but other than that his friend seemed to have a lot more confidence in class. He used to have to hand the ingredients to him.

The students worked together in relative silence. Occasionally you would hear a groan from a student when their potion turned gray or curdled. Sharp would come by and explain their error, summon a new cauldron and tell them to begin again.

Sharp allowed the students a break during one of the longer simmer periods giving them leave to visit the lavatories or simply close their eyes for 15 minutes. Amit and Y/N chose to sleep while Weasley kept watch over the cauldrons. Sebastian made eye contact with Weasley and a shit eating grin spread on his face. Sebastian wanted to knock his block off. Weasley started to play with the sleeping Hufflepuffs hair, she mumbled a little and leaned into his touch.

Before Sebastian could toss his cauldron at the grinning fool Sharp called the class to attention. "You should be starting the next stage, for those of you who had to restart, continue to prepare and catch up, but do not rush, overheating will ruin the integration of ingredients. "

Sebastian turned his focus to his potion, “after class” echoed in his head. The potion class finished and for once with no explosions. Sharp went from table to table inspecting each potion for clarity and color, pouring out a bit of each to test the viscosity.

“Excellent work Gaunt, I’m glad the new tool helped. Sallow, this is just slightly thick. This will not put anyone in a coma, but you may sleep over 24 hrs, you were too liberal with the unicorn horn.” Sharp leaned in and muttered. “Perhaps next time you should keep your back to your favorite distraction.” Before Sebastian could react Sharp made his way to the next table.

“I’m glad our new student seems to be a stabilizing influence on you Weasley, your potion is near perfect.”Sharp held up a hand to hush Weasley, “Experiment on your own time with your own knuts. Thakkar , despite sleeping for half the class your potion is well done. Y/N excellently done, this would get you an outstanding in your O.W.Ls” Sharp moved on to the last table. Once he was finished delivering his last assessment he turned to the class.

“You may take your work to the common rooms and test it out, for those of you who made a stronger draught , I suggest you administer with drops instead of drinking the phial. Ms y/n please stay after class for your extra assignment.”

Weasley whispered something in her ear that made her laugh and smack his shoulder, he messed her hair and ran off before she could hit him again. Y/N waved goodbye to Amit and made her way to Ominis and Sebastian.

“Did the identification pad work? Was it helpful” She asked leaning in to see Ominis expression

“It worked perfectly, I only had to ask for help to know if the color was right, thank you.”

She beamed , “so you're not cross with me anymore?”

A look of shock flashed across Ominis’ face “When was I ever cross with you?”

“When Sebastian showed me the Undercroft and I tried to lie about it.” y/n whispered, eyes darting to the side to make sure no one was listening. .

“That was a month ago. Did you really think I was still cross about that?”

“A little” she sheepishly looked down at her shoes.

Ominous laughed while she buried her face in her hands in embarrassment. “Honestly if you were any more agreeable I would fault you for it. I am not at all cross with you, I may have been aggravated by the situation the someone else caused” Ominis nodded in Sebastian's general direction, “but I was not at all angry with you.”

Y/N smile in relief “Does this make us friends?”

“I dare say that it does” Ominis said with a broad smile.

She hugged him quickly, stunning both Ominis and Sebastian , She back away quickly and apologized, “I got a bit ahead of myself, wont happen again.”

“No it’s perfectly alright, just a little surprised.” Ominis blushed and suddenly Sebastian’s ire was directed towards his friend for a moment before he buried it.

Professor Sharp called out to her and she ran off for her new assignment.

"Ah, I forgot to asked her about the Amit incident. "

"No worries, I'll track him down." Sebastian bolted out of the room to catch up with the sleep deprived Ravenclaw.

Amit was speaking to Samantha Dale in the hallway sharing notes when Sebastian caught up to him.

"Excuse us Samantha, we have something to discuss." Sebastian said as he dragged Amit to a secluded corner by the scruff of his collar.

Amit babbled in surprise asking if this was about potions class or tutoring. As if Sebastian needed tutoring.

"What did you drag my friend into last night?" He growled with barely contained anger.

Amit stared wide eyed at him "Last night? We were just stargazing. "

Sebastian leaned in, "And you had to drag her along and get her in trouble."

"Y/N invited me. I showed her an astronomy table last week and she brought me to a few she found around Hogsmeade and in some of the other hamlets. She even brought a picnic basket and baked cookies." Amit pulled an astronomy chart and showed Sebastian along with some cookies in a handkerchief embroidered with a mooncalf.

"We didn't even get detention after we showed the charts we filled out, Professor Shah was very impressed."

Sebastian grabbed the bundle of cookies and suddenly felt someone smack the back of his head with a book. He turned and looked at Ominis who glared at him. "You cannot seriously be stealing sweets from our classmate. Are you a Goyle?" He snatched the cookies away and handed them back to Amit.

"Sorry about my friend. He's a little protective. And there were rumors flying about that you and Y/N were on a date. We're just concerned about her reputation."

"We were merely stargazing. She is not great with astronomy and I help her with her charts. She helps me in herbology. Garreth helps us both with potions. And I don't see why he needs to care. She's my friend too." Thakkar said as he packed his cookies away.

Before Sebastian could retort Thakkar left in a huff. Samantha, who had been watching from afar shot Sebastian a glare and accompanied her housemate to his next class.

"You really are a menace Sallow. You couldn't wait for her to finish speaking to Sharp. You had to steal cookies from a classmate."

"I know I just..."

"Became so overwhelmed with jealousy that you acted without thinking. Do yourself a favor and just ask her out."

" I can't, I need to focus on Anne. I'm running out of time and can't handle any distractions."

Ominis sighed and he started to say something when Y/N called from across the courtyard.

"There you two are." She rushed over, "I thought you wanted to talk about last night?"

"No worries. Amit filled us in." Ominis responded with an easy smile.

"Oh that's wonderful." She beamed, " did he tell you about our study group? We were talking about inviting you two."

"Study group?" Sebastian asked, feeling a bit of foreboding.

"Yes, Garreth, Naty and Poppy are also in it. At first it was just me asking for help from my classmates but then I figured we could help each other. There's a room behind the fireplace in the library that we meet in. Naty helps with divination, and transfiguration. Poppy with herbology and magical creatures. Amit is our Astronomy and Arithmancy tutor. And Garreth is potions. I told them that you could really help with DADA, and I know Omnis gets great marks in Magical history. Amit was really excited to learn from you."

Sebastian held back a groan and grit his teeth in a smile. " No he didn't say anything, but I'll bring it up next class."

"I'm sure you two will enjoy it. I'm bringing miniature pies this Friday. Apple if you'd like. Oh and I made too many cookies with the elves yesterday." She pulled two bundles of cookies from her bag, each embroidered.

"Thank you, these smell amazing. We would love to join the group if you'll have us ." Ominis took the bundle of sweets and handed one to Sebastian.

"Brilliant. Oh, I have to run, I need to feed my cabbages before the next class." She waved goodbye and ran off towards the greenhouse.

"I have to talk to Amit."

"You need to apologize to Amit."

Sebastian groaned in frustration while Ominis chuckled. "Come now, I'm sure Thakkar will be forgiving, but if Ms Dale is there you might have to grovel."

Do you want to talk about how, since the stills of bridgerton s3 dropped showing Kate with Anthony and Kate with her Bridgerton family, all you and the Edwina stan accounts you reblog have talked about is Edwina and Mary? Has it ever occurred to you that desi women, like me, are so excited to see a dark skinned brown woman, like us, be happy and adored and loved? A whole desi romantic icon in the flesh in western media. Here you and your buddies are, the majority of whom openly hate Kate, (and are uncomfortably possessive over Edwina (I don’t include Mary because y’all don’t actually care about her nearly as much as you state)) and are vitriolic about her in their posts, are now concern trolling with “Kate Sharma deserves her own family, Kate Sharma deserves her own friends, Kate Sharma deserves a better man”, when hardly any of you gave a damn about her until you didn’t see the desi woman you wanted to see. If I’ve missed even one comment from you (your own or reblogged), saying ok Kate Sharma we see you, this brown girl deserves her happiness after all the trauma she went through, we love to see it! Please correct me. So determined to be the Sharma white knights we didn’t ask for you all forgot to do any uplifting at all.

Okay now you're taking a lot of stuff that I post out of context and, personally, I feel like you're pushing something on me that was never there. I'm happy that you are excited about Kate being loved, especially as a dark skinned brown woman, but my issue was never her being loved or saying that she didn't deserve it over Edwina. I can wish for BOTH of these women to be happy and loved, rather than piting them against each other, without overshadowing the other. I don't know why people think that it's impossible, or that having Edwina interact with the Bridgertons within itself is taking away from Kate. She's still viewed, by myself and many other Edwina fans that you say you know, as the viscountess and is perfectly loved and happy with her family even if Edwina is there (because she also is Kate's family). It's not uncommon for siblings to be cool with their siblings in-laws, there's nothing adherently wrong with that and it doesn't come from the guise of wanting to outshine Kate, at least for me and the people I follow (we also include Mary a lot of times into the family but not many hate on that idea or drag her character, and it leads me to believe a reason why that's directed at Edwina so much is because you view us as wanting her to take what Kate has which is far from the truth because many of us want Edwina to have something for herself too---for me, it's a prince). Correct me if I'm wrong, but your point of view seems like you just want Kate separate from Edwina (+ Mary) in regards to their family now that she's married to the Bridgertons, and want to keep that family all for herself, and that you don't like them (as par your "Sharma white knights" comment which is a choice). That's fine if you want that, and I'm sure that you can find others who do, but please don't come here to my page, or others who don't want what you want and send stuff like this even though it's completely untrue.

Because if you view being critical over some choices that a character does as "hating" them then I can't help you with that and you should just block me. I don't hate Kate, and I'm perfectly able to be critical of her while still wanting her to happy and loved. She isn't perfect and that's fine. If I did hate a character, as by example of some of my other posts outside this fandom, it would have an anti character tag but it doesn't. Because I don't hate Kate. I don't know where you also tied this into me hating to see a Desi woman having a happy relationship in Western media because, respectfully, that is a very big stretch. I'm happy about the Kate and Anthony stills (which I've reblogged but I've never been one to get up and excited just by a few pictures, from any fandom, until actual video content drops but that's just me) but that doesn't mean that I can't be critical about their relationship, specifically how Anthony treats Kate and is given more scenes to his backstory in comparison to her. We see more about him, are able to see more of him on a deeper level more than we ever see with Kate, which I've called out before. Many anons that I receive, similar to yours but also different, always assume that I hate Kathony or Kate because you don't like some of the stuff I say, but it literally calls out Anthony's behavior and how he acted towards Kate (which was wrong, never got a full apology for, but some of y'all skip past that). Him calling her the "bane of his existence", or constantly making her seem like she didn't know what she was talking about (pretending to be someone different in front of her sister and mother) or putting her's and her sister's reputations at risk by playing with their emotions. Me calling all that out makes me hate Kate? Makes me not want her to be happy? And I even call out the writers, multiple times might I add, about how unnecessary the drama that they added ends up being pointless and takes away time from what's actually important. Some of you are quick to hate on Edwina and her storyline, saying that it's overshadowing Kate but that's to blame the writers, who also added more plot for Penelope and her family which was not needed (especially since she's getting her own season, this one should have been about Kate solely as similar as it was to Daphne's). I'm happy for Kathony, but the writers irk me because they didn't have to shove so much angst onto us from the beginning. If they wanted to portray them as a happy couple from s2, as I said, they should have cut the "I'm planning to marry your sister" plotline short by the bee scene (which happens in the books) or scrapped it as a whole. By doing that, plus removing the Featheringtons, you could have more opportunity for Kathony to be together without so much angst falling over them (adding Anthony apologize for his behavior and make him seem like less of a prick, as well as provide more room for Kate as a character and a look into her own backstory). Back to the Sharma white knight thing, listen and I mean this with respect, I don't care whether or not you "asked" for me or any other page to be (just like I didn't ask for you to be in my inbox), because it was never about trying to adhere to what anyone else had to say. It was about us calling out poor writing choices, making better plotlines and finding ways to give these characters better respect than the narrative did. If you can't see that and just view it as me mindlessly supporting the Sharmas (which, when I say that name I also still involve Kate, even though many of you want to remove that aspect from her now, correct me if I'm wrong if you don't) then I can't help you.

And the line "hardly gave a damn about her until she didn't fit what I wanted to see" is very wrong, and while you have a personal connection with these characters that I won't understand and do respect, I won't tolerate you painting what I say in a different light just to fit what you believe. I never put Kate on a pedestal, especially not as a woc, and even put out multiple ways that could have relieved her stress and given her more scenes for happiness. Some of which does include being with Edwina and Mary because they are her family as well. If you don't like either of them, which it reads like you don't, and just want the Bridgertons to be her new family, fine, have at it. But don't come here, or to other pages, expecting them to do the same because some want the Sharma family to heal and be happy together alongside the Bridgertons, not without. That doesn't even remotely mean that we want to take away anything from Kate, as has been said before. If you don't like anything that I've ever posted about Kate or the Sharmas or Bridgerton at all, then why did you come here and send me an anon when you could have just blocked me? Here's a quandary I've suddenly found myself in: where do you stand on writers deleting their own works, fanfiction or otherwise? I've had this happen to me on more than one occasion - I go to look for an old favorite and find it's since been deleted from whatever site I read it on.

On the one hand, I'm inclined to think that, "Sure. The author wrote it, it's their call. I don't own the work - I certainly didn't pay for it. It's their decision, even if it's disappointing."

But at the same time I can't help but consider the alternative - if I believe in death of the author (and I do), that an author's work fundamentally isn't solely theirs once it's been published, posted, etc., then it also seems wrong to have a work deleted. Stories aren't the sole property of their creator, after all.

But then I circle back. D'you think there are different obligations between authors and readers and the works being made in fandom space? I know if I had bought a book and the author decided they wanted it back, I would feel pretty comfortable telling them no, given I'd paid for it and whatnot. But that's a different world from fanfic and fandom space generally.

So. You're insightful Clyde, I'm curious as to what you'll have to say here (and to all y'all thinking about it, don't flame me. I haven't decided where I stand here yet - haven't heard a good nail-in-the-coffin argument for or against yet).

Honestly, I’m not sure there is a “nail-in-the-coffin argument” for this, just because—as you lay out—there are really good points for keeping works around and really good points for allowing authors to have control over their work, especially when fanworks have no payment/legal obligations attached. In mainstream entertainment, your stories reflect a collaborative effort (publisher, editor, cover artists, etc.) so even if it were possible to delete the physical books out of everyone’s home and library (and we're ignoring the censorship angle for the moment), that’s no longer solely the author’s call, even if they have done the lion’s share of the creative work. Though fanworks can also, obviously, be collaborative, they’re usually not collaborative in the same way (more “This fic idea came about from discord conversations, a couple tumblr posts, and that one headcanon on reddit”) and they certainly don’t have the same monetary, legal, and professional strings attached. I wrote this fic as a hobby in my free time. Don’t I have the right to delete it like I also have the right to tear apart the blankets I knit?

Well yes… but also no? I personally view fanworks as akin to gifts—the academic term for our communities is literally “gift economy”—so if we view it like that, suddenly that discomfort with getting rid of works is more pronounced. If I not only knit a blanket, but then gift it to a friend, it would indeed feel outside of my rights to randomly knock on their door one day and go, “I actually decided I hate that? Please give it back so I can tear it to shreds, thanks :)” That’s so rude! And any real friend would try to talk me out of it, explaining both why they love the blanket and, even if it’s not technically the best in terms of craftsmanship, it holds significant emotional value to them. Save it for that reason alone, at least. Fanworks carry that same meaning—“I don’t care if it’s full of typos, super cliché, and using some outdated, uncomfortable tropes. This story meant so much to me as a teenager and I’ll always love it”—but the difference in medium and relationships means it’s easier to ignore all that. I’m not going up to someone’s house and asking face-to-face to destroy something I gave them (which is awkward as hell. That alone deters us), I’m just pressing a button on my computer. I’m not asking this of a personal friend that is involved in my IRL experiences, I’m (mostly) doing this to online peers I know little, if anything, about. It’s easy to distance ourselves from both the impact of our creative work and the act of getting rid of it while online. On the flip-side though, it’s also easier to demean that work and forget that the author is a real person who put a lot of effort into this creation. If someone didn’t like my knitted blanket I gave them as a gift, they’re unlikely to tell me that. They recognize that it’s impolite and that the act of creating something for them is more important than the construction’s craftsmanship. For fanworks though, with everyone spread around the world and using made up identities, people have fewer filters, happily tearing authors to shreds in the comments, sending anon hate, and the like. The fact that we’re both prefacing this conversation with, “Please don’t flame” emphasizes that. So if I wrote a fic with some iffy tropes, “cringy” dialogue, numerous typos, whatever and enough people decided to drag me for it… I don’t know whether I’d resist the urge to just delete the fic, hopefully ending those interactions. There’s a reason why we’re constantly reminding others to express when they enjoy someone else’s work: the ratio of praise to criticism in fandom (or simply praise to seeming indifference because there was no public reaction at all), is horribly skewed.

So I personally can’t blame anyone for deleting. I’d like to hope that more people realize the importance of keeping fanworks around, that everything you put out there is loved by someone… but I’m well aware that the reality is far more complicated. It’s hard to keep that in mind. It’s hard to keep something around that you personally no longer like. Harder still to keep up a work you might be harassed over, that someone IRL discovered, that you’re disgusted with because you didn’t know better back then… there are lots of reasons why people delete and I ultimately can’t fault them for that. I think the reasons why people delete stem more from problems in fandom culture at large—trolling, legal issues, lack of positive feedback, cancel culture, etc.—than anything the author has or has not personally done, and since such work is meant to be a part of an enjoyable hobby… I can’t rightly tell anyone to shoulder those problems, problems they can’t solve themselves, just for the sake of mine or others’ enjoyment. The reason I’ve been thinking about this lately is because I was discussing Attack on Titan and how much I dislike the source material now, resulting in a very uncomfortable relationship with the fics I wrote a few years back. I’ve personally decided to keep them up and that’s largely because some have received fantastic feedback and I’m aware of how it will hurt those still in the fandom if I take them down. So if a positive experience is the cornerstone of me keeping fics up, I can only assume that negative experiences would likewise been the cornerstone of taking them down. And if getting rid of that fic helps your mental health, or solves a bullying problem, or just makes you happier… that, to me, is always more important than the fic itself.

But, of course, it’s still devastating for everyone who loses the work, which is why my compromise-y answer is to embrace options like AO3’s phenomenal orphaning policy. That’s a fantastic middle ground between saving fanworks and allowing authors to distances themselves from them. I’ve also gotten a lot more proactive about saving the works I want to have around in the future. Regardless of whether we agree with deleting works or not, the reality is we do live in a world where it happens, so best to take action on our own to save what we want to keep around. Though I respect an author’s right to delete, I also respect the reader’s right to maintain access to the work, once published, in whatever way they can. That's probably my real answer here: authors have their rights, but readers have their rights too, so if you decide to publish in the first place, be aware that these rights might, at some point, clash. I download all my favorite fics to Calibre and, when I’m earning more money (lol) I hope to print and bind many for my personal library. I’m also willing to re-share fic if others are looking for them, in order to celebrate the author’s work even if they no longer want anything to do with it. Not fanfiction in this case, but one of my fondest memories was being really into Phantom of the Opera as a kid and wanting, oh so desperately, to read Susan Kay’s Phantom. Problem was, it was out of print at the time, not available at my library, and this was before the age of popping online and finding a used copy. For all intents and purposes, based on my personal situation, this was a case of a book just disappearing from the world. So when an old fandom mom on the message boards I frequented offered to type her copy up chapter by chapter and share it with me, you can only imagine how overjoyed I was. Idk what her own situation was that something like scanning wouldn’t work, but the point is she spent months helping a fandom kid she barely knew simply because a story had resonated with her and she wanted to share it. That shit is powerful!

So if someone wants to delete—if that’s something they need right now—I believe that is, ultimately, their decision… but please try your hardest to remember that the art you put out into the world is having an impact and people will absolutely miss it when it’s gone. Often to the point of doing everything they can to put it back out into the world even if you decide to take it out. Hold onto that feeling. The love you have for your favorite fic, fanart, meta, whatever it is? Someone else has that for your work too. I guarantee it.

So take things down as needed, but for the love of everything keep copies for yourself. You may very well want to give it back to the world someday.

I know I'm feeding a troll but, oh the so called arguments nalu antis make are so stupid, doing this is actually kinda enjoyable. I'm going to discuss the profound bs that a nalu anti spewed on this post. I'll be honest, I want to do this.

So first we have this.

Wow. Just wow. So first of all, in my post I mentioned antis don't like that Lucy has other male love interests or male friends but it's okay if the male protagonist has a lot of love interest. I specifically said male protagonist because this thing isn't limited to Natsu and Fairy Tail. Whether Lisanna is over him or not is really not the point here. A girl had a crush on him. That's fine. It's both normal and realistic. Just like other male (and female, let's not forget Mimi) characters having a crash on Lucy is realistic and normal. How does Lisanna being over Natsu makes it okay to judge Lucy for just simply interaction with other guys? What does Lisanna being over Natsu has to do with anything?

Second, you have to be a special kind of idiot to actually believe that Lucy is actually Juvia's love rival. For most part I find Juvia's love rival obsession funny but overdone. It feels like fairy tail is mocking the trope of two love rivals fighting over a guy. One can argue that before Grey started seeing Juvia in a romantic way he had a small crush on Lucy. I can see that. But not once have I ever seen Lucy show romantic feelings towards him.

Third, who is Gerald? I assume they mean Jellal but like how does someone make that mistake? Their English seems good enough. So what gives? Also I kinda resent the implication that there only reason Erza doesn't see Natsu romantically is because she has another guy in her life. I mean they grew up together and he is like her little brother but no sure it's because she has Jellal, that's good enough reason I guess.

Next we have this.

I happen to ship GreyLu and even if you don't it's pretty clear that this person absolutely do not. It would take me maybe half an hour to find some actually cute (and canon) GreyLu moments, as opposed to whatever this is.

Here we have Juvia's paranoid fantasy. An unintentional magical mishaps on which they made a love rival joke. Was this necessary? No. Was it romantic? Also no. Lucy and Grey gossiping about blue Pegasus. Lucy teasing Grey about Juvia. And lastly are picture of Lucy standing next to Grey. I'm sorry was this supposed to show Lucy loves Grey? Were these moments supposed to be romantic?

I might be new to anime but I'm not new to fandoms in general. What makes ship wars so toxic is a lot of antis use a rival ship as an excuse to spread hate on the ship they don't like. This gives that ship and it's fans a bad name. I know this person is not a GreyLu shipper so please don't think all GreyLu shippers are like this. Antis use Lisanna in the exact same way they use Grey. And honestly she deserves better.

Oh the horror! Two entire moments of Nalu being annoyed with each other.

Not that I think this person has taken actual efforts into selection their most likely stolen screenshots but I'm really not surprised by the choice. Like I mentioned in my original post, antis don't like it that Lucy isn't meek, submissive little girl who just sits there and gets pushed around. Showing a screenshot of Lucy getting annoyed because Natsu asked her to summon a boat or a train spirit, the spirits that she doesn't have, just proves that point. I mean she is a person who has right to annoyed and angry. Plus fairy tail has 328 episodes, some 8-ish ovas, 2 movies, 3 crossovers, a bunch of side stories and a sequel which at the time of writing this post has 81 chapters. So if someone tried hard enough they can very easily find a shot ton of moments like these.

What's the point of taking random screenshots and posting them as a proof that NaLu is a bad couple. It will take me five minutes to find a dozen screenshots of Nalu being sweet. But whats the point. (beyond harassing nalu fans that is). We can do this all day. It proves absolutely nothing.

And Mashima has drawn a lot of art about NaLu. Pictures of then bickering and of them being sweet and cute. Nalu is not something you can sum up in two or twenty or even a hundred screenshots.

Grey's girlfriend? Seriously? Again how stupid does one has to be to believe that?

and finally the new obsession of antis edo NaLu.

I was puzzled about this one. Like edo Lucy was pretty rough with edo Natsu. If they had a problem with Lucy being annoyed with Natsu for five seconds then how come edo NaLu is better. Until I realized of course, since we only met edo Lucy for a very short time we don't know if she had other love interests.

Also please don't drag Juvia into this. The girl is a catch and she has dated another guy before she met Grey. Let's not pretend you give a damn about gruvia or Juvia's feeling when you called Lucy his girlfriend and used GreyLu to hate on NaLu.

I've said this in my original post and I'll say it again. Anti NaLu arguments are extremely misogynistic. This whole thing can be summed up by saying natsu-fan-nalushipper wants female lead to obsessively love the male lead, and have the male lead the only important guy in her life. Female lead should not have male friends let alone love interests. They want the female lead to be reduced to one of the many love interests male lead has. They don't like that Lucy doesn't fit that backwards misogynistic view of what a female character should be. She is not ""pure"" enough for Natsu. Hence the hate.

I skimmed through your rejoinder and I get where you are coming from. But it seems the point of my response to you flew right over your head too.

You know what gaslighting is great but do you know what whistling is and how the erroneous use of reductios- reductio ad absurdums, the act of reducing another's argument to absurd extremities in order to critique is a form of whistling- exposing a person to online attacks or placing a target on an individual's back?

I really, really don't believe BigHit would HIDE TWO PEOPLE interacting within the group either you know?

I don't think asking two people to tone things down or slow down because they are acting risqué is the same as HIDING those two peole. That's gaslighting and is tacky.

Are you aware that by intentionally misconstruing and misinterpreting my theories in the way that you are doing in your reblogs can subject me to unwarranted negative attention and could potentially lead others who come across your reblogs out of context to attack, disparage and critique me harshly unprovoked?

Cyber Trolls and bullies looking for attention on the bird app often use this tactic to direct hate and abuse towards individuals they've tartget.

They intentionally distort their targets words, twist it around, reduce it to something absurd that they know will inflame passions or take it out of context, and post it online to incite and direct mass hate and violence towards people knowing full well that not everyone who comes across the content they've posted would grasp the context or go out of their way to find the right context of those texts.

These people try and often succeed at weaponizing the mass attention by appealing to the crowds sense of 'cancel culture' as a means to suppress and oppress people they've targeted on the internet.

I have been subjected to this form of online abuse one too many times, I'm used to it by now. But I don't find it funny at all. People will intentionally distort and reduce my theories to extreme absurdities or take certain bits out of context and would post these to Twitter, facebook, their GCs or whatever platforms they have in order to fuel or direct hate towards me either because they don't like me as a person or they don't like the things I say out here.

And their go to code word of attack is always, Taekook_lives because they know how passionate half the fandom is about that person.

You refer to your statement, 'BTS are ashamed of ships' and 'Jikook gets punished whenever they look at eachother' as a literary resource, whatever you mean by that, but you made it seem in your post like it's a theory coming from me or one I had espoused when in fact it's a reductio from you.

Am I the author of those statements? No. Have I said or implied those premise. No. But you have. Those are your assumptions about my posts. The emphasis is yours not mine. It's your interpretation of my work and like you said YOUR opinion on my work.

Also, I believe BigHit is aware they are dating and they are well aware of instances where Jikook gets negative attention too like whenever Christian organizations in South Korea lead online protests against them for promoting homophobia in South Korea because of their 'fan service.'

Side note: People are out here screaming Jikook is fan service every day but apparently South Korean Christians disagree. Lmho.

As for how BigHit manages Jikook in instances where they attract negative attention, I think their approach to JK's Tattoo girl scandal says it all.

The company asked the shop to lay low until it all blew over. I assume this is the protocol. I don't think it's crazy for me or anyone to assume that BigHit does the same with Jikook and ask them to tone things down when they are recieving negative attention or are moving in a way that is likely to attract negative attention.

As for my theory on JK and Jikook getting punished when they breach company policies or come close to breaching their glass closet- actions have consequences.

They are employees at the end of the day and as much as they have self autonomy they are required to honor their contracts, terms of service, and obey company rules in order to continue to be employed by the company.

BTS themselves have talked about recieving punishments for defying company rules every now and then. Tae Kook have said they are partners in crime because they often get into trouble with the company and get 'scolded' for it. Jin have said he got into trouble with the company for cutting his hair himself or something. He's said he was pulled into a long meeting with staff over his hair once when he dyed it by himself- cross check, I don't remember accurately what that long meeting was about.

Jimin have said the same thing- getting in trouble for doing certain things that defy company polieces. BTS have said they aren't allowed to do certain things like drunken tweets, drinking or even swearing on VLive.

Do I think they get pulled into long meetings for a word or two when they act risqué yea. Do I think sometimes drastic measures are taken to serve as a warning or deterrent to others yes.

I really don't know why you find it absurd that I assume Jikook get punished for certain actions or that they get regulated by the company.

The look on RM and JM's face in the Be. TS Vlive when JK talked about preferring white to black to me is indication JK was going off script in that moment and was acting defiant as fuck. I don't think it's far fetched for me to assume JK wasn't supposed to say what he said or that he was going against the collective will of the group to uphold the kumbaya image of the group in that instance.

It's equally not far fetched for me to assume JM or RM would ask him as politely as possible to check his attitude next time during a VLive.

Hell, we've seen Hobi advice Jikook to be careful the way they conduct themselves on stage.

We've seen RM glare at, tap, and touch JK and the others several times on stage or during interviews and awards to get them to behave themselves and Tae has explained its because RM wants and tries to get them to act and look 'cool' in front of the cameras most times.

Tae did say he wasn't allowed to record a song with Jimin now didn't he?

Aren't all these a form of regulation? Why then do you think it's absurd for me to believe Jikook are sometimes regulated?

Please listen to BTS's song, A Typical trainee's Christmas to understand in what ways the company controls them. They've said it themselves, not I.

I recommend you watch Rookie King to understand the relationship between the boys and the company. Tae and Jin were not complaining about the company for no damn reason.

Of course they've matured now and their success guarantees them more status and freedom within the company as they are royalty and shareholders of BigHit but they are employees nonetheless.

Listen to RM- the leader of the group talk about that the company disregards their ideas and their creative inputs into their visuals and marketing I presume during the TaeNamKook YouTube live in 2020.

I'm literally crying as I write.. R/dale is going down faster than the rating for my other fave The Walking Dead now and that's saying a lot! Between the two I'm devastated. Where is the kick anymore in the storyline, with the characters? Why are they taking so long to get BH back together? I really feel that this is what is missing & also that we are being misled by the WRITERS & that is so not cool! Okay, so this is only a few of the messages, in the general theme of the mess that is my inbox. 

And I get it! I seek reassurance from others as well when the show disappoints me, which is often. 

Bottom line: Bughead is endgame. Point blank, period. There is no two ways about it. They are 100% the end pairing, and I am not just talking about this show. They’re the endgame pairing this season. Now, do I think that they’ll be fully back by episode 10? No. I do not. I really never have?

But the more and more I think about it, the more I think that Jabitha is not a thing. And if they do kiss once, so what? Betty slept with Archie...this is not a competition, nor is it a situation of having to get back at someone. They aren’t together. 

That said, I get the frustration. We’ve had the Barchie cloud over us for a solid year, during one of the hardest years we’ve been through, and this show just sucks at being an emotional support show. And then when it’s finally lifted, they don’t even let us have a week before trolling us with Jabitha. Rest assured, RAS will be trolling Jabitha leading up to episode 10. 

But I’ve long said they won’t be a thing, and I still stand by that. They won’t date. That’s yet another person of color passed over for Bughead, and Bughead are the story. The writers have to know people are getting frustrated. Many, see above, are on the verge of giving up. To usher in yet another love triangle? Even they aren’t that dumb. 

Very rare to see a show actively shoot itself in both feet though.

I've listened to the podcast and I agree a lot with what you said. I feel like Isayama is just trolling us at this point. It's a great trolling, but a trolling is a trolling, and it's annoying. People say he is rushing but we haven't even got an important plot point out of the way in this chapter. Okay it's a set up chapter but we really need to start moving.

And he keeps introducing new elements like Falco's Flying Titan or the experiments of the Female Titan.

Where is Historia, why did she do nothing ? Ackertalk ? Betholttalk ? Eren's current situation which I don't know how can anyone be pleased with, or make sense out of it...

Levi's growing fingers now ? That makes sense but it's so ignored.

It all just feels like he's waiting for the new basement twist and make everything explode all at the same time but what was so good with the basement event is that some plot points, important plot points were already resolved. And by the time we arrived, we knew things and when everything was put together: it made the whole picture much more cohesive and it was more pleasing rather than everything blowing up your face.

Here almost nothing is resolved and some things in 133 don't feel natural unlike the other chapters with the Alliance.

And on top of that he's giving us an Evangelion type of ending which would make this whole situation justified which I hate because this whole thing could've been easily avoided. Especially with so many elements not fitting together.

The "we are the same" is a good concept but this wasn't handled very well.

I can't put the 104th, on the same level as Reiner and I certainly cannot put Reiner on the same level as Eren.

There is a context to the actions they have done. It's not a matter of who's worse or why. It's how... Yet we still don't have this how. We are just here seeing people hating themselves for things that in retrospect is not as horrible as they make it out to be and I'm talking about the 104th. Reiner and Eren are a very different case. This is probably the first time I see a flaw in Isayama's writing.

I also think that's why he is so scared now after GOT Season 8 because there was so much wait and build up to something greater that when season 8 aired, it's no wonder the fandom was so dissapointed because nothing that was presented at the start seemed to lead to that conclusion.

And seeing what's going to happen the next chapters with again another problem with Marley. The story will drag on if not done properly. It reminds me of One Piece with the Wano Arc which is so lackluster compared to what was teased or even The Walking Dead ( and that's a lot blow from me ) who got worse after each new season because of plot points that were dragged endlessly.

Sorry for the long rant.

Anyway, Mom, you are brave to do these polls because sometimes this story is not easy to process. I hope the story gets a move on now and we start exploring something new especially Historia because I cannot take another 133 great in some part but exhausting especially with a 132 that was so amazing compared to it.

A long rant but a good one. While I’m still optimistic that it’s all going to work out, I find myself mostly nodding along while reading it.  I think it emphasizes what I was trying to say in my ask about why people are feeling a little more panicky and dissatisfied recently. @linkspooky put it colorfully in the podcast. The story has been swirling around the drain for too long. It feels like it’s time to finally flush the toilet. With 134 being a volume closer, it feels likely that will happen.

Because I don't hide from things like this, though my solution was to report it, so if anyone wants to see it, better be quick, or slow, depends on how fast tumblr moves I guess.

As a point of fact I get between 50-100 asks every day. Every. Day. I answer as many as I can. Some need more thought so they sit for longer and I do say sorry for that, but I'm one person with a job and health issues. I currently have 32 in my inbox, some of which have been there for months because they're analysis asks and I haven't found the time to get to them yet.

I get several troll messages, multiple pages long. I delete as many messages as I post. That's not me hiding anything but the absolute hatred some people possess. I don't want to spread that around the fandom.

I'm really not sure what this person thought they'd gain from making an entire blog to troll me, but even if every follower left after seeing it I'd still post the same content as before. Because I don't do it for attention. I do it because it's fun.

I'm not doing this for sympathy or any other reason besides I'm aware of this and don't want anyone to think I'd hide things. The only asks I delete are hateful, insulting or rude and that's the same reason I block people.

If that's wrong then, sure, ok I'm wrong.

One thing I am sorry about is them tagging the fandom in a personal grudge. I don't expect people to be happy about that, and even though I use different tags, I can't stop people from dragging ridiculous off toopic bs into the fandom. Hyunsuk vs. Junghwan: 'LIE' (orig. BTS Jimin) 1:1 cover

Believe it or not, this video harbored the very comment section which made me open my Tumblr after almost a year of inactivity.

Disclaimer: The comments shown are not meant to be targeted to any fandom. Remember that there are many more respectful fans than hurtful, and to never generalize a fandom from several toxic ones. These posts are written in order to help people diffuse fanwars, recognize their part in it, or how they can help. If you strongly disagree, send in an ask!

Background information: Choi Hyunsuk, 19 (at the time of this performance), has trained at YG for three years. He entered the company with his rap, and now also dances. He also has vocal skills, well showcased in this cover. He was a finalist in Mixnine before this show. He has blonde hair in the video.

So Junghwan, 13, has trained at YG for half a year. He specializes in dance, and is recognized for his visuals. He is also a vocalist. He has brown hair in the video.

Context: Hyunsuk and Junghwan are contestants on YG TREASURE BOX, a survival show of 28 trainees, with an initial final group count of 5-7. This performance was a 1:1 elimination battle. They had a week to record and prepare for this. The song was Junghwan's choice.

The exposé begins!

Jimin is well-known for his smooth dancing. He has trained for a little less than a year before debuting, then has been in the industry for over six years.

In the comment section, there are two common "points" which hate comments make:

1. They chose the wrong song/They are riding off BTS' popularity.

2. They did not put effort into the performance and are lacking skills.

Before resolving the themes stated above, this is an example of hypocrisy which is oft repeated in countless fanwars. This commenter has also replied under many other comment chains with hate, and in fact, most of the following screenshots are hate from this user. It is quite evident that she is not a Treasure Maker, yet trashes their performance. Strangely enough, she also says that Treasure Makers can't review their own group's performance.

Alright. As said in the "Context" section above, these boys have prepared this dance for a week. Junghwan is 13 and trained for half a year. Hyunsuk wasn't a dancer when he joined the company, and therefore has much less experience than Jimin in dancing.

One of the parts of this comment which instigated a fanwar was that "they deserve the criticism". Most of the hate comments and never watched the show don't know how little time they have to prepare.

Additionally, this is a song which Jimin himself created. His performance is going to be much more personal, and that goes for just about any cover out there. If you truly believe this line of thought, then that also means that no covers should be created. Wild.

As a former Jimin bias, I have basically watched any predebut video of him available. I can safely say that no, he was not at a professional dancer at that time, though he was extremely good for his age. The same goes for these boys, especially Junghwan. This comment, again, is made on the premise that other fandoms have no right to like a cover if they haven't seen the original.

A similar comment. Yes, it can be acknowledged that BTS' dance line is well-respected for good reason. However, this does not mean that they are above the rest of K-pop, it does not validate any superiority complex, or that they get special treatment on the people that cover their song.

I find it regrettable that some fans drag the group they like into the argument. Remember, fans do not define the group. The group does not deserve hate because of their fans, because they have no connection with their actions.

There have been many comments alike this one, that they tried to ride off BTS' fame. Yet again, these boys have more potential than what they showed here. I promise you, if Jimin practiced this dance for only a week, he likely wouldn't look as phenomenal as he does in his performances. I hope this whole "Cloud abusive" thing be something of a small section of the fandom only. This is serious, it can get the whole fandom in trouble. Makes me think about how to proceed if I find any comment or post, hinting at this. Ignore it? or report it? I am scared to this will get bigger cuz I've seen many times people take an argument and go around repeating it in order to support their ship, without thinking twice what they're saying. Cleriths, please don't go any far with this, please.

Either way it's wrong. If they tried to force a bunch of revenge trolling they didn't get what they wanted because people are sickened, but not surprised by this because this is just them. This is the kinda thing we expect from them. We're not gonna grab the pitchforks and light torches over something that's not much different to their typical flavour. We'll just defend the characters, same as always, because they're the ones being dragged through the mud.
