How to convert Sims 4 3D CAS Rooms to Sims 3

Disclaimer: If you’re not familiar with Blender/TSRW/UVs then this tutorial may not be for you. If you don’t have Sims 4 Studio which needs the Sims 4 base game (or don’t know how to extract the meshes without it) this tutorial may not be for you. Honestly it’s pretty straight forward, but there’s a lot of trial and error and going in game and out of game checking placement, etc. I use Blender 4.1 for this, but you should still be able to do the same things in the older versions. I'm trying to make this as easy as possible. I’m here to answer any questions though 💕 Tutorial below

Things you’ll need:

Blender (whatever version you prefer)

Sims 4 Studio

TSRW ( I use version 2.0.86)

My Christmas CAS Room here

My TSRW work file here

Tutorial:

Find a Sims 4 CAS room that you like and open it up in Sims4Studio. This is the one I'll be using for the tutorial.

In the Texture tab, export the textures. The only textures that matter are the first 3 diffuse. Go to the Meshes tab and export the mesh, it will save as a .blend file. After that you can close out of Sims4Studio.

Open my Christmas CAS Room in TSRW. You'll get this message. Hit ignore and don't send. We only need this file as a reference to resize the SIms 4 CAS room. Export the mesh as an obj, name it whatever you like. You can close TSRW for now.

Open Blender and open the .blend file you exported from Sims4Studio. Make sure to delete studio_mesh_0 as it's just the shadow map and we don't need that. This is what mine looks like after fixing the textures.

Then import the wavefront obj you just exported from TSRW. Again we're just using this as a size reference.

This is what it looks like after I added the obj. I scaled, moved, and rotated the room to match up as close as I could with my reference mesh. When you have it lined up to your liking you can delete the reference mesh. I usually import the sims 3 body to see where my sim would be in CAS as well so feel free to do that too.

Now we have to separate the objects that use transparency in the scene to their own group. The transparent objects will always be located on studio_mesh_1. I usually do this in UV mode. Make sure UV Sync Selection is on. Where the red arrow is, that's the UV Selection button. It's blue so that means its on.

Tip: If you're using the same Blender version I am (I'm not sure if the older versions below Blender 3.0 do this) you can disconnect the alpha in shader editor and then you can easily see what uses transparency because it has a black background like the plants. Don't worry about the one outside the window as that's on the backdrop image and doesn't show in CAS.

Important: Also, make sure you delete the back of the mirror frame or it will show through the mirror in game. I usually select it in the UV editor as well and delete it.

After selecting all the objects that use transparency, I go to the 3D viewport window and press P, then selection. Now they're on their own layer as you can see. That's a very important step so please don't miss it.

Sims 4 CAS Rooms don't have a closed room like ts3 and if you don't add walls/ceiling with planes you'll be able to see that it in CAS. You can do this in any way you're comfortable with. If you don't understand how to do it feel free to ask me. For this tutorial I will not be doing this perfectly lol I've done enough rooms and I'm just trying to teach here 😩

Okay now last is renaming groups to import into TSRW. Make sure it's in this exact order and uses the exact group numbers.

Group 0 - Mirror

Group 1 - Windows/Curtains

Group 2 - View outside the window

Group 3 - Walls

Group 4 - Objects with transparency

Depending on the CAS Room you convert, yours may not have a mirror you know. You can delete groups in TSRW, experiment, feel free to ask me questions as well.

After renaming the groups, select only the groups you renamed and export as an obj. Make sure that object groups is checked so that they can stay in groups.

Open TSRW and open the testroom_cas.wrk file.

After opening the file you'll see this exact room in this tutorial lol because I had to test some things first 😅

Import the CAS room you converted from ts4. You'll get these two messages. Click yes on the first and no on the second.

Disclaimer: Make sure you reduce polygon sizes or it won't import and give you an error

Import your textures (yours may be different than mine depends on the converter) but most have been the same that I've seen. Group 0 is the mirror it doesn't require a texture. Group 1 and Group 4 usually have the same texture.

Disclaimer: TSRW an be finnicky with textures sizes, I havent gotten any issues since using the 4GB patch, but just in case. Texture sizes from ts4 can run pretty big 4096x2048 even 8196x4096. I would resize to no bigger than 2048x1024 in my opinion, but whatever works for you.

After export to sims3pack or export as package file. Make sure you compress your files and you should be good to test your CAS room in game.

This is the finished product. Should look something like this or better lol considering this was quick 😅

If you would like to make your own from the original ts3 cas room, I would suggest watching this Youtube video (it's for TS4 but it still applies and is helpful) and the link to the original ts3 cas room is here. Since we can convert ts4 to ours you could probably just build your own and go from there as well.

Thanks to @mookymilksims for testing things for me and converting her own. If you would like to try this tutorial out and experiment with room placements using @boringbones Ultra wide CAS mod which changes the field of view in cas so that you can see the whole cas room, it is here. I didn't use it for mine, but that's only because I found out about it after from Mooky lol and I'm tired of converting them 😅 but feel free to ask me any questions if you need help 😊

Welcome to the One Piece Ship War - crack edition!

What is a crack ship?

A crack ship is a (in this case romantic/sexual) ship that has little to no basis in canon.

When will my ship qualify for this tournament?

They will automatically qualify (after having been submitted) when:

The characters involved have NO canon interaction*, and are not part of the same crew (no matter how popular the ship is).

The characters involved have 1 short canon interaction and less than 10 fics for them on AO3 (as a side pairing counts too)

They might qualify if:**

They have no canon interaction but are part of the same crew or organisation.

They have 1 short canon interaction but more than 10 fics on AO3

They have 1 long canon interactions or 2/3 short ones and less than 10 fics on AO3

They have multiple canon interactions but NO fics on AO3

It's an incredibly funny ship (but you gotta convince me it's crack!)

These ships will not qualify on principal:

ANY ship between Strawhats (honorary Strawhats don't count if they haven't met a certain Strawhat - examples: BrookNami does not qualify, SanjiVivi does not qualify, but BrookVivi would qualify)

The top 25 ships (or something, be sensible) on AO3.

*canon interactions include fillers, cover stories, specials, and movies (though I haven't seen the last 2 yet and I don't remember much of the other ones, so these might slip through, but I'm counting on you to honor this rule). Also, I won't know nor check interactions in the manga (that haven't been animated yet), so something might slip through there as well. Just honor the rules, please.

**Any ships in the 'might qualify' category will be judged on crackyness by me first, and when I'm in doubt, I will put them up for a vote - so expect a few polls for this.

All characters must be from One Piece (no OCs).

Must be a crack ship according to above guidelines.

Ships that were in the previous shipping war tournament are allowed in this one too, as long as they follow the previous rule.

No moral limitations. These are fictional characters, not real people. Go wild. (But be prepared for 'problematic' ships to be voted out in round 1 or 2.) I will not start discourse/moral discussions about any ships! (messages about morally questionable ship are likely to be ignored and deleted)

Poly ships are allowed! I will cap them at 5 characters, however, and at least 1 character should follow the interaction rules stated above. (examples: JinbeRobinBrook or KidLawLu are not allowed. RobinNamiKiller would be allowed, on grounds of Killer having no interactions with the other 2 (I think? 😂)) Again, be sensible here.

All characters involved have to be humanoid. No concepts, objects, or full animals (fishmen/merfolk, minks, and Chopper are allowed).

You can submit multiple ships, but use a new form for each ship.

Do not hate on other ships, just support your own.

You are allowed and encouraged to submit fanart! As a lot of these ship won't have official art with all characters in it, it will come down to fanart for the most of it ((bad) edits are also very much allowed). However, it needs to be your own or you need permission from the artist before submitting it! However, if you haven't gotten permission yet when submitting, you can always send me a link to the fanart later. Without picture submitted, there might be a chance your ship will have to compete without a picture.

FIRE EMBLEM FYI: Specifically for 3Houses/3Hopes because I need a separate one for this franchise specificially given how many crazy things I got due to being involved in this fanbase via my fanworks:

DO NOT try to convince me to like or tolerate Byleth/student ships, ESPECIALLY the ones with the lords (aka CIaude, Dimitri, EdeIgard). I already summarized why I don’t like FE3H Byleth ships with student chars here. While the spinoff game FEW3H has now removed that teacher/student problematic situation, the fandom keeps putting the FE3H elements into the FEW3H fanworks (i.e. remembering Byleth from “another life” trope)...so no thanks!! DO NOT SHOW ME IT!!!

As for the Byleth ships with faculty members, my response is here so don’t try to bait me about that topic either thanks.

I do not care whom you ingame S-support. 3Houses limits the dating-sim part of the game to that character, so I cannot care less about how you play the game. The main issue I have is when people treat Byleth the “character” as a legit ship material when I personally think they are a cool character ruined by fans who are too obsessed with badly executed self insert otome tropes bc they self-project super hard onto them. Just to be clear, any FE3H or FEW3H OC/Canon >>>>>>Byleth ships personally. Even Byleth-sonas that remove the teacher/student aspects are better than canon FE3H!Byleth

Ted and Tinky will have a very "tormented/tormentee" sort of vibe, and at most, Tinky will admit to really liking Ted, but more like a blorbo than a love interest. He likes Ted in that he likes to watch him suffer. It's like watching a mouse traversing a maze, only that maze is an ever-shifting labyrinth of pure nightmare fuel! :D

It’s been years now (crazy, I know) but this will be my only post about it all.

Disclaimer: I am not looking to start anything or fight anyone, so please, dont harass the people mentioned or send me asks shit-talking anyone. I havent talked about any of this, again, in literal years and I don't care to make this a new debate. I don't waste time leaving asks on anyone's blogs. If i leave an ask its only to my friends or people I like.

First off, Hi occultsimblr admin, I’m sorry you felt the need to delete your server and tumblr account because of me, genuinely. That’s not something I wanted. I’m okay with having been banned from the server. As much as it’s insisted by others I don’t, I do respect when boundaries are made. My only problem with the ban was 1) it occurred without proper research or private messaging me to talk about things 2) the ask being answered publicly where it would further reach people without proper context. I didn’t send anyone to harass you— my friends are their own people and the only thing asked for was an apology, nothing more, nothing less, but I can understand why it must have felt overwhelming, so I apologize for that on their behalf. If it’s any consolation, I'll just avoid ever joining simblr related servers again. 

Secondly, let’s discuss my ‘violent’ behavior and harassment. I was…19 and reasonably upset by insane amounts of disgusting anons and constantly being vagued about in regards to fiction at the time. Not to mention only a few months prior to that i was being harassed over cc (unrelated to all this- but I mean i was literally being called a necrophile on repeat in asks). Was my behavior a little over the top? yes and I should have refrained from insults, but what’s done is done. 

Third, since I've become an adult, I haven't spoken to any minors online nor have I ever pushed or forced any minors to look at anything sexual made by me or anyone else.

Anyway, in the end, my only problems with all of this is that: 

1) the reason this narrative began is because I posed a sim… as a character (who is 17)… making a face like he does in the series. Shockingly, I don’t get off to that face or the character lol. I knew it as an iconic expression he does and that it would easily be recognizable as said character by other BlueL-cke fans, that’s all.  2) The want for censoring and managing what others do online. My blog has always been 18+. Yes, at one point i said if it was just for CC then sure, minors could like my (cc!) posts and I regret that, but I am a grown adult and it’s not my job to monitor minors and what they do. Teens have the mental capacity to avoid 18+ spaces and the only adults that are responsible for said kids are well… who would’ve guessed, their parents! and only their parents! not the random stranger online. The only ones to blame are negligent parents that failed to provide proper internet responsibility and monitoring. 

Being uncomfortable with things, sexual or not, is normal and to be expected. There’s lots I'm uncomfortable with that I see people I follow post, but my immediate thought is not ‘gross, do they jerk off to that?’ or ‘I need to tell them to stop posting that because it makes me feel bad‘. What I do is, ignore it! scroll past it. Yes, things can trigger traumatic memories but the only one responsible for that is ourselves, especially as adults. 

*** Personal trauma talk: At my worst, there were large numbers of women I couldn't even look at, online, or in person, if they reminded me in any way of my abusive ex without going into a full blown anxiety attack for hours, so what did i do? look away, as hard as that was. and if that’s too vague, there were plenty of stories i would read that would remind me of my own traumatic experiences and because they were still so raw in my mind, i couldn’t stomach continuing them, but i didn’t comment how awful the work is or how harmful it is or the people who enjoy the story(s), etc, because inherently? it isn’t harmful, even if for me personally it was. It was my job to avoid it without making it everyone else’s problem. ***

so what i’m saying is, yeah, it’s okay to dislike me, and dislike all the ‘disgusting’ things i’m into (which, can any of you even make a list of what these terrible things are ? 🔵🔒 render aside?), but why is there the need to paint me as this awful person? If I remind you of anyone else that actually has harmed people, that’s your personal bias and something to be worked on just as I had to work on my own traumas that were triggered by normal people. It’s okay to block me and I’m happy to know you’re exercising your free will and self preservation, but please leave me alone. 

Lastly, for the love of god, please stop worrying about what I may or may not be jerking off to, it’s creepy and I’m a real person unlike these fictional characters who can’t feel uncomfortable or harassed. Please realize how one should treat and see human beings is a completely different matter to the treatment and view of objects. Killing animals or people in games does not mean you would actually kill a real dog or stranger on the street. 

brief mention: Xuehe, my 15 y/o OC who existed long before this nonsense? Yeah, his character-sheet render is based on Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour” album cover, so maybe leave him out of the ‘proof’ i’m a creep lol. it’s insane to equate tongue out = something sexual and maybe you need to figure out if the call is coming from inside the house with that view. 

I understand a lot of you will take this as me being disingenuous or avoiding responsibility, but please try to grasp the idea that I too can be reasonable and serious haha. I also would like to apologize to everyone completely unaware of this matter, but maybe this will give you the needed information to decide whether or not to block me as well.

A young girl was seen walking through the rain without an umbrella. Raindrops splashing onto her shoulders and head as she continued walking down the street without any care.

'..I need to head home' The girl thought, however her body did not move as she continued to stood in the rain as more drops splash on her, leaving her completely soaked.

'.. What am I doing..' She tried to forcefully move her legs into the direction of where her 'home' is, her mother must be worried sick especially since it was pouring heavily that day.

Due to the girl's dismay, her legs did not want to follow her commands. As she stood in the rain, alone, pondering on what to do next.

Only to feel the splatter of the rain on her head and shoulders coming to a halt.

"..Mafuyu?"

Mafuyu then turned her head around to see who was calling her name. It was familiar and not at the same time, however the case, she needed to put her 'good girl' persona back up again.

As she turned, she saw a familiar [e/c] orbs staring at her with curiosity, before beaming into a smile.

"Mafuyu! It really is you.. It's been so long since I've seen you." As they went and hugged her.

..Only why did it feel so stiff and cold? As the other person let go of Mafuyu.

"Ah.. Uhm, sorry to say this, but.. Who are you?" As Mafuyu took another look at them. It felt so familiar yet so unfamiliar to her.

"Ehh?! Well I guess it's because we haven't seen each other in years. Take another guess~"

As Mafuyu looked closely inspecting every detail on this person. Looking at their silhouette and how they said they haven't seen each other in years, it only could be..

"[name]?" As Mafuyu looked a little hesitant before blurting out their name.

"Oh? Finally remember me?!" As the other person looked really content on Mafuyu getting it right.

"Ah, I didn't know you would be back [name]. You didn't really send me a text about it."

"I wanted to surprise you~ Though it took you some time to figure out who I was."

"Ahaha.. Sorry, how was your studies abroad?"

As [name] was about to respond to that question..

"A..ah, sorry [name], give me a moment."

As Mafuyu took out her phone, she was a little hesitant on reading the message. Only to appear a little bit.. Terrified?

"Mafuyu? Are you alright?" [name] asked, looking concerned.

"Ah.. Yep! I'm fine.."

However before Mafuyu could reply she was on her way home, [name] gently gripped on her arm a little to prevent her from sending the message.

"I heard there was a nice cafe around here.. Mind showing me around? We could catch up in the meantime as well" giving Mafuyu a smile, although it felt reassuring to Mafuyu for some reason.

".. Sure. I could show you around and I would love to catch up as well" as Mafuyu put her phone away into her pocket, as she started walking. Only for [name] to grab her hand.

"..?"

"Ahaha, don't mind me, I get lost easily" [name] said. As they slowly began rubbing Mafuyu's hand as they walk.

Although Mafuyu doesn't realised it, she has gotten way too quiet for her 'good girl' persona and both were walking in comfortable silence.

"Woah.. Its appearance on the inside is pretty cute."

Just as Mafuyu was about to leave the building, [name] grabbed her arm.

"I hope you don't mind but could we have a chat over some tea? I know it's late but I'll really like to talk with you since it has been years."

"How long will you be staying here [name]? Since you are studying overseas."

"Actually I'm back for good! I wanted to ask if it was alright if we could hang out more? Just like the olden days~!"

"Ah, I'd love t-"

BZZZT BZZZT

"..Give me a moment." As Mafuyu dug out her phone to read her messages. Her face was scrunched up a little before she could type out a reply, a hand was placed on top of her phone.

"I don't mean to be rude.. However, if it is fine. Could I answer the message?" You asked, hoping Mafuyu would comply.

Mafuyu nodded her head as she let go of her cellphone so you could take it over to your side.

---------------------Mom----------------------

Mom: Mafuyu? Are you coming home now?

Mafuyu: In a moment. I'm busy showing my friend around

Mom: Please hurry up, it's raining. I don't want you to catch a cold. You don't want to make mom worry, right?

Mom: ..Mafuyu?

Just as [name] had expected. It was her mom, at least they could try and do something about it now.

Mafuyu: Sorry, this is [name], do you remember me, Mrs Asahina?

Mom: Ah it's Mafuyu's friend who went overseas. I take that you're with Mafuyu now?

Mafuyu: Yep! She has been a great help with giving me a small tour.

Mafuyu: However, could I make a request?

Mom: Oh? What is it?

Mafuyu: Could you let Mafuyu come over to my place anytime? Since you know I studied overseas, I would be able to teach Mafuyu a lot of things regarding her academics!

Mom: Hmm.. What days would it be?

Mafuyu: I should be flexible anytime, it's mostly when Mafuyu is free! Also, I am going to go to prep school to get a medical degree in the future. I think this will be beneficial to Mafuyu.

Mom: Okay, I'll leave Mafuyu in your care.

'It worked?!' [name] was a little surprised but was glad it worked out in the end. After years of studying overseas really paid off.

"Hey Mafuyu, you're coming to hang out with me at my place after school tomorrow~!"

"...?"

"Whew~ the food was really well made. We should come here more often Fuyu~!"

"..Fuyu?"

"It's just a little nickname I made up~ cute isn't it?!"

"..Mm I guess so"

"It's pretty late, you should get going now Fuyu, I'll see you tomorrow then"

"Ah right.. See you tomorrow [name]"

As Mafuyu smiled and waved [name] goodbye before turning around to walk home.

Bzzt bzzt!

This time the buzzing phone was not Mafuyu's but yours. You quickly open up to see your friend messaging you.

[Name]: It went well! I got to see her again! ..and her smile.

Friend: I just don't get why you want to see her smile so badly to the point of sacrificing your dreams..
