A little PSA About Theatre!

Seeing that Jack Wolfe is doing Next to Normal is amazing!! Literally SOBBING!

However!! I feel it's really important to remind people of like stage door etiquette! These are not characters, they are humans. Next To Normal is an incredibly heavy and emotionally challenging musical, and there's going to be nights when the performers need to just go home and rest.

While I get it can be upsetting not meeting them, they are all still human at the end of the day. Doing a show eight times a week, plus rehearsals, and they deserve to rest!!

So I just think people need to be mindful of this, support local theatre and actors but respect their boundaries! ❤️

Danny Jacinto absolutely killed his choreography and performance in The Acolyte. He did most of his own stunt work and you can tell how much love he poured into preparing for the role. It seems we need to have a little chat about theater etiquette, especially concerning "notes"

You do not say a singular bad word about the show until you are in the car on your way home in private. If you're taking public transportation, not until you get home. Not a word.

I wrote little notes (a thing i do as a form of my appreciation for the arts to ensure i keep my full attention on the show and dont zone out. I rarely share them with anyone) during an intermission for a show I saw with my friend at this really small playhouse and he leaned over and read (very loudly) "why did you put *something critical about the opening number*" like DUDE THAT ACTOR'S MOM COULD BE SITTING IN FRONT OF YOU??? DON'T SAY SHIT WHEN YOU DONT KNOW WHOS GONNA HEAR IT

Even if the people around you don't know the cast/crew personally, they could have really enjoyed it. Say you thought an actor was pitchy and you said that out loud during intermission or after the show (God forbid you say it during the show) and the person next to you thought it was incredible. You're now diminishing that person's experience and making them feel stupid for thinking it was good. Their whole night at the show is now devalued because you said something bad and changed their perspective.

And these same people are going to be out in the lobby, by the doors, in the parking lot, taking the same bus as you, walking part of your route, going to the same restaurant... hold your tongue until you're somewhere completely private. It's just respectful.

I know I have been watching too many BLs when I see Reddit posts claiming surprise when they saw Mark Pakin in IPYTM since "he is a GMMTV actor" (nvm that IPYTM was obviously released way before Mark's very first GMMTV appearance in Bad Buddy 😅) while somebody claims they have never saw Drake kiss someone in a BL before Only Friends.

I'm leaving this PSA up in support of my friend who's received some questionable anonymous asks. Reblogs are fine if you wish to spread the sentiment.

As a roleplay community, we have to recognize to separate art from the artist. Roleplayers are real people & we are not the fictional characters behind the screen. It can be VERY UNCOMFORTABLE, especially if we are on the asexual / sex-repulsed spectrum, for us to receive flirtatious or sexually charged anonymous asks from a user crushing upon a fictional character. ESPECIALLY a fictional antagonist, which in some aspects is very problematic, abusive or violent. Unless otherwise noted by the individual, roleplay blogs are NOT for fulfilling OOC personal fantasies. Above all, please ask permission BEFORE sharing very personal details, especially sexual details(!), about yourself anonymously to a stranger online.

Secondly, the fictional character is not the actor. Actors are real people, & it is unwise to place them upon a pedestal, especially if it comes to light they are a very bigoted individual IRL or have interacted inappropriately with fans. Writers, also as fans, have a parasocial relationship with actors. We don't know them, & we separate them from our characters. Actors, ultimately, are hired to perform a job & do not represent the characters they play, even if they use their face / body for motion capture. Fictional characters ARE NOT REAL, & they are NOT THEIR ACTOR.

Please separate art from the artist & fiction from reality. ❤️🙏 & please respect roleplay writers in the community.

I want to preface this by saying that I'm desperately trying NOT to sound like this is coming from some kind of a high horse, and that I am aware that everyone gets to make mistakes, especially when we're young - because we are human - and then grow and learn from them. I did plenty of my own when it comes to crushes and hot actors.

but.

There are certain lines you still shouldn't cross, particularly when you are of a certain age where you should know better.

One of those things is deliberately seeking out compromising pictures of an actor you claim to love, only for the sake of getting off and satisfying your morbid curiosity. And then posting about it and getting other people to do the same.

I get that things are complicated and messy when you have a crush that borders on obsession, and that curiosity is a bitch, but these pictures/video - no matter how publicly available - were shared without the consent of a (at the time) very vulnerable and emotionally compromised person, and to me they're no different than revenge p**n. Please think about that.

So if some of you claim to be in love with this man as much as you profess it (and I include myself here most of the time), I at least hope that you would give him the same courtesy and compassion you would to any other human in your life that could have such terrible thing happen to them, and try to preserve their dignity and privacy from taking any further damage.

I get it. I am not the moral police. I know that you can do whatever you want in your life and on your blog.

However, what I also know is that by doing so on your blog, you are repeating this huge violation of his privacy on a bigger scale, and I'm begging you not to be that person. Please do not enable other people, or normalize that kind of a behavior. Nobody deserves to get their shit plastered on the internet over and over, not even hot celebrities.

One more thing: sexualize characters to your heart's conent! Write the filthiest fantasies, publish them on your blog or send it to your friends. Put them in the weirdest AUs and most terrifying situations. Publish an essay about why xy would be the best at [insert sexual act of any kind]. DO IT ALL. I might even read it and leave you kudos for it. But leave actors, real human beings out of it.! At least on your dash. (idc what you do or don't do in the DMs. It's your life and your own set of moral and ethical standards.)

I'm not going to attack anyone personally, nor do I want anyone to do so. I just want us all to maybe in the future think before we post, and to have the empathy and be kind to each other. And if we cannot, the block button is there for a reason.

Naughty little Vikings commentary clip because I was in a mood. 👑 Don't get me wrong, I outright ADORE what Ivan has done with King Aelle and wouldn't want to miss his heartbreaking performance that overrode the huge storytelling flaws. He somehow managed to make this sudden and complete break of character with no lead-up or explanation whatsoever still look genuine and deeply touching.

I just dislike that they withheld any scenes from us in between that would've shown how this was even possible as it insults the intelligence of the audience and also deprived us of the profound experience of fully grasping and relating to the tragic dimension of King Aelle's character.

And I strongly dislike that such a shattering and gruesome end to a life of thorough integrity despite all adversities and a deeply moving struggle with spiritual uncertainty was presented in a way that invited gloating mockery, hence undermined any respect for King Aelle's heroic sacrifice, his virtues and good intentions and even for his suffering and agony.

King Aelle deserved better, we as the audience deserved better, and Ivan deserved better for all the love and care and thought and work he had put into his character - and for all the opportunities he had to let pass while bound by this contract. The range of his performances in this show, not least in this episode, shows what Ivan is truly capable of doing. He deserved not to be wasted just to fix conceptual flaws within a few minutes of screentime, but to be given the space to show us the compelling depths and layers of his character much more elaborately. Above all, he deserved his vision to be heard, his input to be considered, accomplished and experienced an actor as he is, and the end of his character, teased and highly anticipated from season 1 onwards, to be portrayed with due care and without haste.

Would you write some cute fluff how Thena and Sprite are visiting Gil, spending a nice and fun evening with cooking and then watching a movie and Gil ( he has taken his medication after dinner) falls asleep on Thenas shoulder? Sprite noticing the beautiful chemistry between them?<3

"Hey."

"Hey," Gil smiled as a wisp of blond drifted into his view as he loaded the dishwasher (slowly).

"Thanks for dinner," Thena repeated from several times earlier already, bringing over hers and Sprite's plates from the table. "It really was incredible, Gil."

"Aw," he blushed. "It's the least I could do; you've been such a help since the whole arm thing."

Thena's eyes drifted down to his broken arm in his sling, as it did often. "I wish I could do more."

"Trust me, Thena," Gil closed up the dishwasher and patted her shoulder ever so gently, "it's plenty."

She smiled up at him. The soft lighting of the kitchen really brought out his handsomeness.

"Go sit down with Sprite," he nudged her with a grin, "make sure she doesn't pick something with me in it--I can't bear watching myself with people."

"I know the feeling," Thena laughed, drifting off into the living room as Gil reached for the painkillers he'd been prescribed.

Sprite barely looked away from her scrolling as Thena sat down on Gil's large sectional couch. "You two done flirting?"

"Sprite!" Thena hissed at her sister.

"I had to sit through you two making eyes at each other all through dinner," Sprite pointed out liberally, despite the murderous look on her sister's face. "Not bringing it up until now is a testament to my restraint."

"I mean it," Thena pointed her finger in her sister's face. "You are making him uncomfortable and he is our host, who has been nothing but very sweet with you, may I add."

"You may, but that only makes you like him more," Sprite pointed out. As much as she wasn't really into the idea of hearing about her sister's obvious crush on her co-star, part of her couldn't help its curiosity.

Unfortunately, Thena was so in denial about her feelings for him that she was underwater.

"Don't pick anything with Gil in it, says he can't stand watching himself," Thena murmured, eyes drifting down to her lap as Sprite scrolled through the options on the tv.

Sprite just nodded. Thena had the same problem, although Sprite never had any real desire to watch stuff with her in it. She really did think Thena was a great actress, but it was still just her sister--she saw her everyday.

"Okay," Gil mumbled as he sat himself on the couch with him. "What'd we find?"

"Still looking," Thena sighed, loudly enough for Sprite to know it was expressed just for her.

"Okay, okay," the teenager grumbled back, settling on a thriller. "Oh, this is Sersi's new thing!"

Thena smiled at Gil on the other side of her, "Sersi is our cousin."

"I heard about this movie," Gil nodded as the opening logos began. "Apparently there was a lot of drama onset."

"Unfortunately, although Sersi managed to escape a good deal of it," Thena sighed, unfolding her crossed legs and relaxing her stiff posture. "It doesn't surprise me, with Eros in its cast."

"Have you worked with him before?" Gil asked more quietly as the movie began.

"Once or twice," Thena whispered in reply, even shifting to angle herself more in Gil's direction. "He's...interesting."

Gil raised a brow at the diplomatic choice of words. "What am I--the press?"

Thena let out a little giggle, still trying to keep quiet for Sprite's sake of watching undisturbed.

Sprite wasn't paying attention anyway. She only really cared to watch Sersi's parts. And besides that, the little display happening on the couch right next to her was way too distracting to be ignored.

"I've read stuff about him," Gil whispered, leaning his head down closer to Thena. "He's pretty vocal about having a thing for you."

Thena rolled her eyes, missing the visible amusement - and maybe something else - on Gilgamesh's face as she did. "I think part of his image is being a bit of a stud. But he's closer to Sprite's age than ours."

Sprite rolled her eyes too. That was a bit of an exaggeration, not that she thought much of the slightly pompous actor from the once or twice she'd met him.

"I don't see how that'd stop him," Gil shrugged, his words running together slightly as his eyes drooped. "If you're beautiful, you're beautiful--and you are."

Sprite resisted the urge to call her sister out on her visible fluster.

"He's said so," Gil mumbled out, although it ran right into his yawning. "Said he wishes he could have the opportunity to work with the beautiful 'Goddess' herself."

Thena blinked as Gil leaned - slumped - even closer.

"I think even that's an understatement," Gil practically slurred. His back slid further and further down on the couch until his head collided with Thena's shoulder.

"Gil?" Thena blinked, whispering to him but not daring to turn her head to actually look at him.

Gil just adjusted his position, nuzzling even closer into her.

"Thena, please, I'm right here."

"Sprite!" Thena hissed at her again.

"Sh, Thena," Sprite laughed as she leaned back on the luxurious couch and pointed at the tv, "trying to watch."

Damned menace of a sister. Thena rolled her eyes, not moving a muscle as Gil fell into an even deeper sleep with her for a support. It was a good thing that he was also up against the back of the couch. Although his heaviness wasn't quite too much--it was almost kind of nice. He was solid, but not sharp edged, and he was bulky, but there was some softness to it that was nice too.

Thena smiled to herself as Sprite lowered the volume to barely audible, even turning on the subtitles. For all her surliness and general teenaged attitude, Sprite still had a warm heart under all of it. "Thanks, Sprite."

"Sh," Sprite smiled back at her, "watching."
