Happy Mushroom Monday! 🍄

At a recent Deep Playa Campout event, I was fortunate enough to try a variety of mushrooms from PNW Mushrooms, and OH MY GOODNESS!!! Have you ever seen such pretty mushies!?

A huge thank you to William for gifting a bunch of us with these fantastical fungi. It was one of my highlights from that weekend, and such a nice treat. 😊

The pink oysters when fried taste like bacon. So good!

Pluteus cervinus - The Deer Mushroom     +12p

Habitat: Growing usually from rotting wood. If seen growing from the ground, assume it is growing from buried rotting wood. Grouped or solitary and can be found throughout the picking season  

Edibility: Edible! Smell and taste resembles raw radishes. Eat raw or cooked.

Spore Color: Pink, or flesh-colored

Gill Color: Starting white and maturing to pink, or flesh-colored

Cap Color: Dark brown and tan, resembling the fur of a deer.

∴ Came across this spooky bunch last year on my road. I love how shaggy manes tend to look like ghost, & that they start to show in all of October. If you notice the one off to the far left has two pine needles of debris on its cap, to me they look like eyes. Therefore I give you this Halloween Boo-a-shroom! 👻 ∴⁣

Went to visit Jack and walk around the forest for a bit. Found some mushrooms that looked so peaceful. This visit left me feeling so calm and soothed. ∴ I have finally found you. A #webcap, or #cortinarius the very distinct web like partial veil is something I have longed to get macro shots. The partial veil has such a delicacy to it, just like cobwebs do. I came across a gorgeous patch of these guys this year. I brought one back to the house for close up macro shots & I couldn’t be more happy with the outcome. Major plus when I find purple mushrooms. 💜∴
