TROPE-TASTIC
Tumblr media
So I'm trying something I saw on rumble. Basically, I'm making a list of the prompts I'm using for this story challenge.
Problem is... I need 30 prompts I can work with... I've only found 19.
Anyway...
This is what I'm working on. I'd love to see others interpretations of these prompts, so feel free to use them in your own chapter or one shot stories!
If you do, please link them to keep so I can read/promote them! If you post them here, add the hash tag #AWBsesskag
Tumblr media
Genre: Humor/Romance/Angst
Twist: Try to use as many tropes as possible
Universe: Canon
Fandom: Inuyasha
Pairing: Sesshomaru x Kagome
Rating: M
Description:
A few weeks have passed since Sesshomaru & his group joined the Inutachi. No one knew why Sesshomaru started following them around. Nor did they understand him seeming obsession with their naieve miko.
Prompts!
(In no particular order)
Tumblr media
Hot Spring: Much to her mortification, kagome winds up accidentally giving the males of her group a peep show.
Swordplay: Inuyasha & Sesshomaru argue over who's "sword" is bigger & who "swings" it better.
Plum Sake: Poor Sesshomaru is at a loss when drunk Kagome comes out to play
Fairytale: Kagome wakes up from a yokai induced sleep to a kiss from Sesshomaru while the kids cheer about her bedtime stories
Sleep: Sesshomaru watches kagome sleep, lost in thought. Meanwhile, Inuyasha watches him, jealousy building with every second that passes.
Instinct: Sesshomaru protects Shippo, Sango, & Miroku in Kagomes absence
False Claim: When Kogas antics go to far, Sesshomaru steps in to set things straight once & for all.
Liar: After an argument, Inuyasha leaves to be with kikyo for the night. Leaving Sesshomaru behind to pick up the pieces of a broken miko.
Acts of Honor: Sesshomaru captures Kohaku during battle, but instead of leaving him for dead, he returns him to Sango as the brother she remembers... not Narakus puppet.
Dishonorable: Sesshomaru scolds Miroku for his unfaithful & lecherous ways, much to the Monks embarrassment.
Festoval: Sesshomaru takes pride in spoiling the pack at a yokai celebration in honor of the balance between earths power, humans, & yokai.
Stormy Eyes: Injured, but furious... Kagome not only scolds but challenges Sesshomarus mother to a dual.
Healing: When Kagome is Injured, Sesshoumaru protects & cares for her in a way only a inu should care fot their mate, causing confusing feelings for Kagome.
Revelations: Sesshomaru opens up about his upbringing. Not realizing what he's describing is manipulation & abuse. His is when kagome decides her feelings for Sesshomaru are stronger than friendship.
Shame: Sesshomaru & his mother argue over his feelings over lagome, not realizing she overhears his lack of denial when his mother accuses him of being as shameful as his father for loving a human.
Enough: After finding Sesshomaru comforting her... Inuyasha goes too far with his insults towards kagome, resulting in an all out brawl.
Penis: Anyone who wants to visit the future kagome comes from, needs to be subjugated. Kagome decides on a word she would NEVER say to the kids.
Whore: Word around Tokys is that Higurashi Kagome is an unwed, teen mother whos getting kicked out of middle school for lying about being suck to chase a gangster two timer, only to turn around & switch to his brother. Her families reputation is in ruin.
Chickens: Sesshoumaru is HIGHLY unimpressed with Kagomes friends & the boy Hojo who couldn't take no for an answer.
Submitted by @anastasiaskarsgard
Control: Kagomes power has been compromised & she can no longer control it. When her reki violently lashes out during a disagreement, she fears she's hurt Sesshomaru
Collections: Poor Jaken. Once a leader in his own right, he abandoned his people to serve the most feared yokai in Nippon. For years, things had been wonderful. But recently, his master had taken up an odd hobby. Jacken just couldn't fathom why his master kept collecting human females!
Rawr: Ah-Un are in charge of watching over the children. All seems well & the large dragon is able to eat their grass in peace. But serenity never lasts & if Ah-Un wants to get back to their lunch, they'll need to teach the yokai attempting to sneak up on the camp a lesson.

I still need 8 more prompts (minimum to hit 30. The max is 45 chapters) I figure I should add some battle scenes somewhere, lol. If you have any Prompt ideas... especially funny ones... PLEASE comment them below. 💜

Found Family Tournament Round 1 Part 22 Group 106
Propaganda and further pictures under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hayakawa Family: Denji, Aki Hayakawa, Power
Submissions are still open!
Hayakawa Family:
They are so special to me AUGH I love them so much. Denji and Power are the chaos siblings and Aki is the older brother who has to deal with their shenanigans. They canonically live together and Denji just straight up said that he views Power as his younger sister. They are so Family it's painful. Denji's dad committed suicide and no one knows his mom, Aki's whole family died tragically, and Power is a fiend which means she wouldn't have any relatives anyway. Then they got put in a devil hunting division together and Denji (who lived in a shed) and Power (who had no home) were assigned to live in Aki's apartment, and from then on it's history. I don't expect them to win, as much as I hope they do, but I'm glad I found this tournament that I could submit them in!
whats better than coworkers being forced to live together until they love each other? sometimes a family is a 16 year old boy that was kidnapped by the government for having a chainsaw head, the most egotistical possessed corpse in existence, and an overworked 20 year old with depression and homemaking skills. they have one last name between them and thats all they really need.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
InuYasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, Sango & Kirara:
They're from my childhood, one of my first real animes, this poor unloved child ends up with a family and a happy ending (we will ignore the sequel...like..reallllly ignore it) he finally has a chance to grow, to love without rebuke. It's just wholesome 🥺🥺

He walked down the short stretch, and Kagome’s eyes widened as she saw the cage that Shippo sat cowering in with a bowl of human fingers sitting just inside the door. Ch.2 Finger Foods, I'm Only Human
Poor Shippou. I actually grossed myself out painting those fingers.

A favor for a favor?
A demon lord, a hanyo, a two headed dragon, two humans, a kit, and a very loud and annoying kappa.
Their party unfortunately had somehow attracted a band of demons, hellbent on robbing them.
The sacred jewel was long gone, couldn't they catch a break?!
Apparently not. Somehow Inuyasha was thrown into Sesshomaru, slamming into a thick tree. Not a good move on their part, but hey they tried. Key word being tried.
The half brothers by some miracle ended up working together, probably unintentionally but at least the deed was done.
All seemed peaceful, well at least for a moment. Inuyasha cursed loudly, "God damn it! Fuckin' bugs!" He began to scratch profusely, cursing the entire time.
Kagome sighed loudly as the children laughed at his antics. "I swear," she rolled her eyes, "For Pete's sake Inuyasha! You're not a bear!"
He rubbed harshly against the trunk of a tree, "I am today damn it!"
She ushered the kids to follow, finally making camp a ways down the road. She swore she had a twitch in her eye, "I told you if you need itch cream, I have some-"
He scoffed loudly, "Fuck no!" He continued to scratch his poor skin raw, "That shit smells horr-"
Sesshomaru's fist connected to the boys head, knocking him right out. Shippo snickered, returning to the writing practice book Kagome had brought him and Rin.
Kagome watched as he lifted him and set him atop Ah-Un, tossing Jaken on for shits and giggles, "To a river. Far." The dragon took off with the unconscious Inuyasha and now bellowing kappa.
Kagome watched him sit stiffly, he was clearly uncomfortable. "Hey," she approached him, "Are you alright?" He had the gall to look at her like she'd been the reason for his discomfort, "Don't look at me like that."
He held out his hand, waiting.
"I don't have anything in my hands," she spoke showing him her palms.
He snatched her hand up, seeing her teal painted nails. "Assist this one," he grumbled.
She nodded, "I have medication." He shook his head, "Err, what then?"
He pulled his robes off his shoulders, silk pooling around him. She frowned seeing all the red spots on his pale skin, "Sit."
She sat behind him, "You want me to scratch don't you?" She saw the slight nod of what could barely called movement, "Err, you need to tell me if it hurts. These are acrylics, they're harder than-"
"You will not harm this one," he grumbled.
"Alright then," she mumbled and began scratching across his speckled skin.
He groaned breathily after she'd been at it a while, "Harder." Her hands stilled a moment as blood rushed to her cheeks.
She resumed her itching, trying to ignore his husky tones urging more from her. He brought his clawed hand to his face, muffling his groans.
Again his deep timbre called her, "Harder woman." When she apparently was not aggressive enough he scooted further into her lap, "What is it you want from this one?"
"Pardon," she nearly chocked, saliva thick in her throat. "This isn't you scratch my back, I scratch yours," she spoke flustered, "You asked, and I don't mind. You don't have to pay me back."
When his eyes rolled into his head as she itched a particularly prickly spot. "Perhaps not," he moaned, "But this one is willing to scratch the itch you have."
Kagome froze, forgetting how to breathe.
How delightful. 🖤

Note
people always say kagome is the best candidate for inuyasha and the anime was pro-inukik but in the manga we see that kagome actually enjoys making inuyasha jealous with koga (she basically admits it to shippo) meanwhile kikyo tells inuyasha hes the only one for her when he seems to get pissed over naraku desire for her. they say anime is pro inukik but they actually made kikyo the bitchy romance novel rival and kagome the martyr and victim who "deserves" inuyasha more. at least thats what i see
Yes. I know they think the anime is pro InuKik. many of them read the manga and they must have seen those scenes between InuKik and the other personality Kikyou. For me it's absolutely abnormal to say something like that, or I have a second explanation… they like Kikyou from the anime more than the manga, because in the anime Kikyou is presented, as that classic mean rival for a boy, while the manga Kikyou is much warm and loving and kinder than her anime version.
Unfortunately, they only repeat how kagome is treated in the anime/manga, she is always a "victim" and Inuyasha is the worst one who deserves punishment because he hurts such a poor girl kagome, and in reality she is the perpetrator and not the victim.
kagome's friends only confirm that "poor kagome, bad Inuyasha"

InuPrompt 2022: Any Ship Day (11.12.22)
Song Inspiration: Little Lion Man - Mumford & Sons
Summary: Where Inuyasha goes when he goes full demon.
Tumblr media
------------------------------------------------------------
Weep for yourself, my man You'll never be what is in your heart Weep, little lion man You're not as brave as you were at the start
------------------------------------------------------------
This was getting remarkably old. Truly it was. After everything they’d been through, after everything they’d done, Inuyasha was still the same old stubborn ‘go it alone’ bastard that he was when they first met.
Or, at least, that is the way everyone interpreted Inuyasha’s weird reaction to Kikyo being kidnapped. Again. The way he sat all rigid and declared that he’d do it himself. Miroku laid into him. Sango joined in and Shippo placed the ‘what makes you think you’re so special’ cherry on top.
Kagome made a face but knew calling a duck a duck wasn’t going to do Inuyasha any favors. Of course, all of them had a bone to pick with Naraku. Everyone wanted to defeat him. They all wanted revenge of some kind. What their friends didn’t understand, though, was that Inuyasha wasn’t planning on going alone for some selfish glory related reason.
After all the loss that poor man had suffered, Kagome understood that he simply couldn’t handle more death and he was terrified of being alone. Kagome had been sure of that from the moment they’d beaten the Thunder Brothers and he’d come crying after them. The panic and desperation that’d been in his face? Can’t really argue against the evidence.
In any case, Inuyasha wanted to go alone not because Inuyasha felt invincible or because he wanted glory. He wanted to protect his friends. The only thing of worth he possessed. And he’d die for that cause if need be. Which was irritating and terrifying.  Inuyasha’s willingness to take every blow and fight against insurmountable obstacles alone was extremely troubling. But that’s what he’d gotten into his mind needed to happen.
Despite the fact that, ya know, facing Naraku on his own should not happen. Talk about suicidal plans.
“Look, we all know what happened between you and Kikyo,” Kagome tried a different more direct approach as she crouched down to get on his eye level, “But you don’t have to run around trying to fix everything behind our backs.”
Inuyasha bristled even as he saw Kagome subtly cringed upon realizing what she’d implied. She should’ve known better than to even hint at betrayal. If anything, he’d proven time and time again that he was loyal. That they could trust him. All of which had been at expense of his own sanity. Half the time he felt like he was ripping himself into pieces trying to balance both and, up until now, he’d been doing a pretty damn good job. If they didn’t trust him…
He watched her in the split second it took his rage to bubble over. The silent plea for forgiveness in her eyes. Like she was trying to impart how deeply she trusted him in every area save one.
And she didn’t even need to worry about that one but that was an issue he couldn’t address quite yet. Why put a bigger target on her back? It was hard enough trying to protect her as is.
“I don’t sneak around, okay?” Inuyasha snapped defensively and Kagome wilted as he continued, “I have never ‘snuck’ in my life.”
“Inuyasha, I-“
There was a collective eye roll from the others that got Inuyasha’s heckles up more and he was very ready to go scorched earth to prove that he, in fact, was trying to protect them. That nothing about Naraku was safe and victory sure as hell wasn’t guaranteed. That ‘saving Kikyo’ – a woman who had done none of them favors – was an extremely dangerous and stupid way for anyone but him to die. That he’d be damned before anyone he loved died over her. For that matter, none of them were allowed to die period. Before he could launch into his full offensive, however, Miroku noticed something in the near distance and then the topic of whether Inuyasha was selfish or not was forgotten.
“It’s soul collectors…”
Letting out a relieved yet miserable sigh that was missed by literally everyone, Inuyasha felt a little grateful that he could rip this particular bandaid off early and without a fight. They’d go. Save Kikyo. And then he wouldn’t have to think about her for a while. He’d have a chance to catch his breath and recharge from the emotional drain.
And, to be honest, as much as it scared him, he was glad he wasn’t going in alone.
------------------------------------------------------------
Rate yourself and rake yourself Take all the courage you have left And waste it on fixing all the problems That you made in your own head
------------------------------------------------------------
Awkwardly coming to a full stop and launching upwards to get a better vantage point, Inuyasha stared at the flames which had burst into existence before his very eyes.
What on earth happened here? Where had this village come from? Why hadn’t he smelled the smoke on the way in? And why was it so dark? Up until now, it’s been day and all he’d seen while he was-
Wait, what had he been doing before he came upon this veritable funeral pyre? Whatever it had been felt important. Couldn’t tell you what it’d been but it was important. Had he been alone? That too didn’t sit right.
Where was he?
Inuyasha took in a shuddering breath and tried to stay calm. Any efforts to collect himself, however, were unfortunately shot to hell before they’d even had a chance to be successful.
“That’s him! That’s the one who attacked us! Inuyasha!”
For a brief moment, Inuyasha forgot how to breathe as he glanced around the burning village in sheer panic and despair. Everything leading up to this moment had turned to static and, for whatever reason, his mind came to the seemingly bizarre conclusion that he’d been sent back fifty years. Either that or he was in his full demon form and this was just one of those dreams, ya know?
Letting out a choked breath, Inuyasha found he didn’t like either option. Usually his dreams weren’t quite this vivid or detailed. Maybe…maybe he had gone full demon and this was the aftermath of a time he couldn’t remember. That would explain why he was confused.
After all, this couldn’t be fifty years ago. A part of him knew that was wrong. Despite other things missing, he very distinctly remembered being sealed to a tree with zero casualties. He’d been very careful to do as little damage as possible. Aside from the betrayal by Kikyo, the men and women of the village had shown him more kindness and acceptance than he’d ever known. They hadn’t been in on Kikyo’s plot to string him along. They’d been every bit as convinced that she loved him as he’d believed up until a few hours ago.
Jumping a fair distance away from what remained of the angry villagers, Inuyasha took a few seconds to look more closely but the more he looked around, the more he was terrified. Had he gone full demon? After all, this place was completely unfamiliar but that didn’t bring the relief he so desperately sought. How could it? Everyone was yelling his name and that he’d done this but he-
Taking in a panicked gasp of air, Inuyasha tried his best to keep from screaming as his eyes locked into the lifeless stare of a dead mother who was still cradling her equally lifeless baby. He knew her face.
He took an involuntary step back and his heel cracked a skull he hadn’t registered was there. A development which did nothing to calm his nerves.
He knew her. This wasn’t his village but that was one of his villagers. She’d…she’d let him hold…
That’d been the first baby he’d...
One hand flew up to his mouth despite himself as he tried to make sense of this all. Her body was mutilated. Throat ripped straight out, and claw marks ran alongside her face. And the baby…
The face - the little one which had smiled at him without fear -was gone.
Tearing his eyes away, Inuyasha bit his hand, trembling, mustering everything he had inside to stop the panicked scream that wanted to escape. It occurred to him, however distantly, that he needed to explain. A part of him hoped that would make a difference. That someone would admit they’d gotten the wrong demon. So, he lowered his hand and tried to steel himself for an argument that would go nowhere.
“Wasn’t me…” he tried to yell back over the din as he took a few more steps back but his voice wouldn’t come. His breath wouldn’t come. Even his heart struggled to keep beating. S-someone else must’ve done this and he was the scapegoat. That was the only thing that made sense.
A light weight suddenly settled into his palm. Wavering amber looked down at the the completed Sacred Jewel and his worst fear was realized.
This was the village.
This had been him.
His full demon form had taken over. Which would explain the odd memory of being shot and feeling betrayed without any real point of reference. The villagers had defended themselves.
But that couldn’t-
He wasn’t a monster. He hadn’t become one. This was not one of the times...
“It can’t be,” he managed hoarsely as his heart struggled to beat and he tried to make sense of it all. But none of it made sense. Never would he have done all of this and he sure as hell did not go full demon. All his life he’d made sure to never kill anyone who wasn’t trying to kill him first because he would never give the assholes who’d made his life hell the satisfaction by becoming what they-
Point being, all of this bullshit wasn’t right. It simply didn’t make-
“INUYASHA!” was the only warning his shellshocked mind got before an arrow collided solidly with his chest and he was flung backward. Despite a part of his mind recognizing that this couldn’t logically be real, the arrow embedded in his flesh sure as hell felt real. The heat from the flames were suffocating and oppressive. And that was Kikyo…
Which...he’d been looking for her, hadn’t he? Why had he been looking for her? Not that it mattered. No amount of trying to explain or defend himself was going to save his sorry ass.
That didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try to convince her that this wasn’t what it looked like though. Especially because realization dawned and why none of this made sense suddenly made a whole lot of sense.
This wasn’t real. None of this was real. It must be an illusion of some kind.
But why would he be in an illusion?
For a brief second, his eyes once again glanced at the corpses littering the world around him and tried to remember how to breathe.
Why did it feel so real?
Being thrown back fifty years and landing in a situation made of nightmare fuel could only mean he was full demon right now. In the real world where there were real consequences. This, right here, was what he feared most in the world but…but he wasn’t a monster. He wasn’t.
He just needed to wake up. He needed to get out before he went insane. There had to be a trigger. A key of some kind. He just needed to play along. That’s all.
His whole body flinched as the mother’s vacant eyes once again locked with his own.
A trigger...
Amber eyes widened as a memory or thought fought to the forefront of his mind. That must be it.
“Kikyo, wait, it was all just a trap!” Inuyasha tried to fight against what the illusion clearly wanted him to do, “Kikyo don’t do it!”
But his words did nothing. Had no effect. She wasn’t even listening. Just advancing as more and more corpses appeared all around them. The flesh around their wounds bubbling and popping like bacon on a frying pan.
“Is this hell?” Inuyasha breathed as he looked down and saw the bloodstains on his hands. That made a modicum of sense. This was the only village he’d ever attacked and maybe he did cause all of this damage but just never knew. This was his punishment. To be confronted with the reality of what he’d done. Of what he was. A monster even his own mother couldn’t love.
He'd killed them. He killed them all.
“I never meant…” Inuyasha tried to say but the apology simply wouldn’t leave his lips.
This had to be hell. Question being, how the hell did he get here and how the hell could he get out?
------------------------------------------------------------
But it was not your fault but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time Didn't I, my dear?
------------------------------------------------------------
“No,” Inuyasha breathed as he stumbled forward and then leapt the distance into the pit hoping his senses were wrong. Miroku was fine. Sango was fine. Shippo was fine. He’d saved them all so why-
Pushing her onto her side was his first mistake. The second was checking for a pulse that wasn’t there. Oxygen whooshed from his lungs and his body gently recoiled like he’d been hit. No sound got over the heartbeat pounding in his ears.
Her eyes...
There was nothing there. Nothing left.
Empty...
A scream rose from the core of his being and poured out with such ferocity, it was impossible to stop or contain. He tried though. One hand clapped across his mouth. He sank to his knees. Unable and unwilling to tear his eyes away from her broken body. She’d died. Alone. In this miserable ravine which was cold and damp and barren.
Please let this be hell. Just part of the illusion. Maybe he was still there...
Please…
“The roots,” Miroku mumbled – his voice numb and dissociated, “Maybe…maybe she fell. In the illusion. Maybe she fell.”
Breathing heavily, Inuyasha glanced over at the monk with large, horrified eyes before whipping his eyes toward Sango who was staring blankly at the body while shielding Shippo in her chest.
Please let this be hell…
“N-no,” Inuyasha finally managed – his voice mostly gone after the scream he’d made. Clumsily, sluggishly he stumbled forward before cradling the corpse in his arms, “N-no. T-this is j-just another i-illusion. That’s…that’s all. No. No.”
“Inuyasha, it…I’m sorry but this is real. She is-“ Sango tried – her voice eerily calm and mechanical – but her words fell on deaf ears. Up he went with the body hanging limply in his arms. The limbs laying stiffly and at irregular angles.
But what killed the little he had left was seeing Kikyo standing there with the bottle of shards in hand.
“Y-you did t-this?” Inuyasha breathed as his legs gave out and he crumpled to the ground, “Please. Please t-tell me y-you didn’t. L-lie if you gotta.”
“Why is it that I feel you’re unhappy to know I’m well?” Kikyo taunted and Inuyasha let out a faint cry in response. His arms cradling the corpse a little closer like he could protect the soul that was no longer in its vessel.
“W-why?”
“What do you plan on doing about it? Will you kill me?” Kikyo crooned as she inspected the bottle of shards and Inuyasha found whatever strength he had left fled for the hills. Everything he had left in him evaporated. It was all he could do to simply kneel there and clutch at the cold body in his arms. Maybe…maybe once upon a time he would’ve been able to bounce back and immediately avenge his fallen…his…
A whine escaped him, and he pressed two trembling lips against Kagome’s clammy forehead. This was all his fault. She was gone because he wasn’t strong enough. Even now he was failing her. Unable to let her go so he could avenge her death. Kagome would never know how much he loved her. And he did love her. He did. Just because he…he never planned on saying anything didn’t change that. Maybe that was why this happened. Why he always wanted to do everything on his own. Everyone he loved died because of who he was. Just by existing he damned them to death.
A few tears streamed down Inuyasha’s cheeks, and he softly sobbed into Kagome’s blood-soaked hair while Kikyo continued taunting him. Each word entering one ear and pouring out the other. All his mind was capable of doing was taking in the little details of her face. Trying to find a smidgeon of that scent which had always made him feel invincible. But it was wrong. Everything was wrong. The slackness of her face – eyes wide and mouth open in a silent scream – made it almost impossible to remember how it'd looked in life. The scent of death quickly replacing that of her life in his mind.
“I’m sorry,” he finally managed to mumble – not even realizing there was an arrow pointed at him. Even if he had seen it coming, he would have welcomed it. He wanted it. Wherever Kagome went, he wanted to follow. He couldn’t do this without her. Any of it. Even taking in air was hard.
He needed…
He needed…
He…
“HIRAIKOTSU!”
Inuyasha breath caught several times as he watched his fiends do what he could not. It was literally all he could do just to watch. Kikyo had managed to do what hundreds before her could not.
She broke him. For a reason he’d never understand and never know. With Kagome’s death avenged, Inuyasha rocked the corpse slowly and continued sobbing until he’d cried all his tears.
------------------------------------------------------------
Tremble for yourself, my man You know that you have seen this all before Tremble, little lion man You'll never settle any of your score
------------------------------------------------------------
They said the body should be burned. They were going to burn her. With fire. Which…which made sense. It did. It’d only been a day and she was already rotting. They said…
Inuyasha curled his knees tighter against his chest and buried his face. A part of him hoping beyond hope that maybe Sesshomaru would show his brother some pity for once. Just a little bit of mercy. But how would he know to even come here? Wasn’t like they talked literally ever, and the bastard wouldn’t care even if he did know. No one knew how much Kagome had meant to him so, even supposing Sesshomaru cared on some level, why would Sesshomaru think for one second that his little brother needed this miracle? Why would anyone?
“Inuyasha, you must let me do her rites,” Miroku’s tired voice whispered as a hand rested on his shoulder, “We need to burn-“
“No,” the half-demon sniffled as he shook with negative emotions, “Not yet. Please.”
“Sesshomaru isn’t coming,” Miroku sighed bluntly – his voice cracking and betraying how he’d been crying himself, “There is nothing we can do other than give her a proper burial. Before Naraku finds a way to use-“
“M-maybe Urasue had a sister?” Inuyasha managed to squeak out before feeling infinitely more miserable when that awful suggestion bubbled over his lips. Why would he want that? Hadn’t he caused her enough pain? No one deserved that. Especially someone who had been kind and loving and beautiful and-
“Kagome wouldn’t want that,” Miroku chided in a very hard tone, “You must accept what has happened.”
“Who said?” Inuyasha clipped back – half joking and half deadly serious. It was honestly a miracle his mind hadn’t fractured completely. That he wasn’t running around as a full demon murdering everyone in sight.
For the first time in his life, imagining that existence didn’t terrify him. In fact, being completely unaware and blank sounded absolutely wonderful.
Inuyasha pulled his knees tighter against his chest and sniffled loudly.
“T-tomorrow. J-just give it ‘till tomorrow,” Inuyasha pleaded amidst growing sobs, “Maybe...maybe she’ll wake up. He could c-come. H-he could.”
“Inuyasha, she isn’t going to wake up,” Miroku sighed heavily before kneeling down and forcing Inuyasha’s chin up, “We are all hurting. We are all grieving. But we must be strong. That is what she would have-“
“She’d want to see her f-family again,” Inuyasha whimpered angrily as he ripped his head away, “T-to smile a-and l-laugh a-and have a pulse. I n-need to give h-her a c-chance.”
“Inuyasha, he isn’t-“
“You should have just let me go alone, dammit,” Inuyasha spat hatefully before firmly planting his face back into his knees and shaking with negative emotion, “This is why I wanted to go alone. This. She’s gone. She shouldn’t be g-gone. Should be me. It should’ve been me.”
Lips parting in newfound understanding, Miroku found himself quite lost for words. But one thing he did know was that Inuyasha should not be left alone.
“Tomorrow then,” Miroku acquiesced gently before running a sleeve beneath his weeping nose and settling against the wall. Wrapping one arm around his friend, Miroku guided Inuyasha so the man leaned on him for support. A gesture which Inuyasha shockingly allowed.
“I’m sorry,” the monk whispered as he gently rubbed his friend’s arm, “I’m so very sorry.”
------------------------------------------------------------
Your grace is wasted in your face Your boldness stands alone among the wreck Now learn from your mother or else Spend your days biting your own neck
------------------------------------------------------------
The next year was a blur. Miroku and Sango had decided to continue the quest best they could. Shippo had gone with them. Inuyasha was allowing himself to wither away as he sat religiously next to Kagome’s grave to ‘protect’ it. Staring ahead with blank matted amber. While he would drink and eat if someone handed it to him, he never sought out sustenance for himself. Hadn’t bathed in god knows how long. Hardly ever slept and when he did, he was restless. Plagued by nightmares of the corpse when he found it.
But it didn’t matter. None of it mattered. There was so much he should’ve said or done differently. So much time wasted. Things should’ve been different. Maybe…maybe if he’d just said something this wouldn’t’ve happened. Maybe if he’d killed that cold undead bitch instead of trying to protect her….
Why had he tried to protect her? She’d been very blunt about how she felt but he thought-
“Inuyasha. I will take over the watch if ye wish to rest,” Kaede offered kindly and sluggishly Inuyasha raised his face to look up at her. A moment passed then two and Inuyasha slowly shook his head before taking his former position.
At first, the elderly miko had avoided him for fear that he blamed her or the sight of her would hurt rather than help. But her behavior was not due to her condoning what her sister had done. If anything, it made her resent her sister for managing to screw her little sister yet again. The first death was so avoidable. So avoidable. Using the jewel has been such a foolhardy and idiotic plan in hindsight. Why did Kikyo want Inuyasha to change anyway? If Kikyo had truly loved Inuyasha or even thought it through beyond desperation, she would have realized she was going to bring doom upon their heads. Inuyasha had enemies as did Kikyo. With them both powerless…
Well, let us just say that would have been a very short lived marriage.
Still, despite all the pain, she was grateful to have a sibling again. Even if Inuyasha did not reciprocate the feeling, she claimed him anyway and loved him as any sister should.
“Ye need to rest,” Kaede insisted with a sad little sigh, “Please. We are all concerned for ye.”
“Why?” Inuyasha muttered numbly – his amber eyes glanced at the small grave and his posture deflating impossibly more, “M’okay.”
“That is not true,” Kaede huffed before kneeling down and forcing Inuyasha to make eye contact, “Kagome was a sweet child who loved ye. We all miss her smiles dearly but she would not want ye to die.”
“Why does what she’d want matter? She’s not here,” Inuyasha mumbled in a dissociated tone as he gently lifted his face out of her wizened hands and kept his face averted, “She can’t want anything.”
“Inuyasha…”
He shook his head and started playing absently with his hands.
“M’fine Kaede. M’fine,” he offered in clear dismissal as his largely vacant eyes stared at the dirt, “M’not tired. M’not-“
Inuyasha made a face which betrayed more emotion than it had in months.
“M’not...”
His nose twitched a few times as he frowned and cocked his head to the side in confusion.
Blood…
He smelled blood…
Her blood...
“K-Kagome?” he mumbled as his eyes both went out of focus and focused on what was actually happening around him. The two images blending together in a confusing swirl. Vaguely, very vaguely, he could piece together where he was and what they’d been doing.
Naraku. They were inside Naraku, right? And...
Shit, everything beyond that was a freaking blur. Didn’t help nothing that the ground was spinning beneath him and it was all he could do to stay upright. A bloodied palm pressed against his forehead as he streched out his senses as far as they’d go. Focusing on what always brought him back and steadied him. A heartbeat. A voice. A scent. The fact that Kagome was very much alive. Letting out a grunt, the sight of her lifeless body once again blossomed in his mind’s eye.
And that was all the motivation he needed to break (mostly) free of Magatsuhi’s grasp.
------------------------------------------------------------
But it was not your fault but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time Didn't I, my dear?
------------------------------------------------------------
It was years before Inuyasha finally got up the nerve to broach the subject of what had actually happened with Kikyo all that time ago. Before he finally admitted what had been happening his head while he was trapped as a full demon within Naraku’s body. For so long, he’d been terrified of so much as mentioning Kikyo’s name in his new wife’s presence. Terrified that she’d remember all those times he’d gotten her hurt or almost killed and leave him forever. Terrified that she’d die – for real this time – and never know how much he’d loved her. How much he’d always loved her. That she wouldn’t believe him even if he did say as much.
But the conversation did come up. Naturally. Kinda.
“When you’re a full demon,” Kagome hummed curiously one night as they were snuggled up beneath the covers on a warm summer night, “Do you realize what’s happening?”
Inuyasha inhaled deeply and let out a controlled exhale.
“No,” he began slowly, “Its like I’m…I’m asleep. So I, um, dream. I guess.”
“Nice dreams I hope,” Kagome offered affectionately and Inuyasha groaned.
“No,” he offered softly as he stared up at the ceiling with haunted eyes, “Never nice.”
Kagome propped herself up and looked down at her husband with concern. It was blatantly obvious that whatever ‘dreams’ he had weren’t your run of the mill nightmares.
“What?” Inuyasha laughed in a way that didn’t quite reach his eyes, “I’m fine. Don’t look at me like that.”
“What types of things do you dream? You know. When you’re like that,” Kagome asked wearily as she stroked his cheek. Against his will, a few tears began welling in the corners of his eyes as image after image of her broken body flashed before his mind’s eye.
“You die,” he managed barely above a whisper - his throat growing tight as a tear slid down his cheek, “You d-die m-most of the time.”
“You kill me?” Kagome breathed as her eyes grew wide. Inuyasha sniffled lightly as he rolled onto his side and buried his face in the sheet so he didn’t have to see her reaction.
“N-no. S’just usually my fault...”

The Boy Who Overcame Time
Inuyasha was digging through his backpack looking for his textbooks, to no avail. "Shit," he whispered. "Ma's going to kill me if she has to buy these again."
His first set of textbooks worked as kindling on one of Kagome's first human nights alone with him. There was a snowstorm, he found shelter in an abandoned hut and they’d be approaching hypothermia if he hadn’t acted quickly. The second set of textbooks eventually reeked so badly of miasma after a run-in with Naraku that grandpa Totosai said a prayer over them, his bugging eyes watering before he burned those too.
He could not afford to lose these.
He dumped the entire bag onto the grass unceremoniously, as if it would make 3 heavy books materialize.
"Now you're just making a mess." Sango crossed her arms somewhere behind him, and he turned his head to see the miko looking down at him with a disgusted expression.
"Leave the kid alone," Miroku called from where he was sprawled out on the ground. "This homework thing sounds scarier than an entire horde of demons."
"Oh? Not too keen on being held accountable for your choices?" She cocked a hip and didn't wait for the slayer's response, "Inuyasha, your textbooks have to be somewhere, nobody is going to steal books they probably can't even read. Have you asked Kaede?"
"Maybe she's using them in place of rocks to weigh down her stew. Wouldn't put it past her." Miroku sat up in the grass. "Do you think Futaba has them?"
"Stop using anything you possibly can to harass poor, unsuspecting women—" Sango stomped over to him, which made Miroku smirk, as if he'd been aiming for that the entire time—
"Shut up!" Inuyasha grouched. "Your theories mean nothing to me. Where's Kagome?"
The half-tengu girl couldn't be harder to keep track of. She stuck her nose in everything and helped people who didn't even want her to because they were bigoted fucks. It gave 15 year old Inuyasha the vapors. He was way too young to be getting the vapors.
Inuyasha left the miko and the demon slayer to hash out their unresolved sexual tension by themselves and went off to find Kagome.
He ran deeper into the very forest for which she was the namesake, looking for a set of raven wings hidden in the treetops.
"Kagome?"
In return, the wind blew, rustling the tree leaves around in a gentle caress. Sunlight dappled down through the gaps in the foliage, the image before him so serene he could almost forget why he was hanging out in Feudal Japan in the first place. People paid good money for this kind of scenery in his time.
Deeper within, he found Shippo napping in a patch of sunshine, which meant that Kagome wasn't far away. She looked after the runt like he was her own. The fox kit smelled him approaching, nose wrinkling as he roused.
"Hey, stinkbutt," the 2 foot tall entity of pure irritation groused. "Got any lollipops to give me?"
"Not with that fuckin' attitude, shrimp. You seen Kagome?"
Shippo huffed. "She's off readin' somewhere. Beats me."
She's reading, he thought to himself, that tells me everything I need to know.
"Back at camp there's ninja snacks," Inuyasha nodded behind him as he began to jog away from the fox. "Thanks for the intel, shitbird!"
Behind him, Shippo brightened with excitement and made to scurry off to where Inuyasha left Miroku and Sango before he stopped abruptly. "Hey, wait! I'm going to tell Kagome you said that!"
"I dare you! Hope you don't walk in on our friends making out!" Inuyasha yelled without turning back.
"Yuck!"
-
Once Inuyasha made it to the well clearing, he skidded to a halt. He looked down to the hem of his uniform trousers and winced at the dirt trailing up his pant leg. He'd started wearing normal sneakers in Kagome's time, but maybe it's time to start coming in sweats or something.
Either way, he's going to get an earful from Izayoi ("I'm not mad sweetheart, just disappointed"), and then Toga's going to nod half-heartedly behind her like the loyal puppy he is.
Gods, his parents were so embarrassing.
Inuyasha looked up, and sure enough, he could see Kagome's large wings hanging over one of the higher boughs. He sighed and walked right under the tree's impressive branches.
He whistled for her attention. When she didn't respond, he did it again, saying "Hey, pretty bird!"
Inuyasha continued to call her as if she were an actual pet until a burst of black feathers flooded his vision. He was scooped up and firmly planted on that same branch he saw Kagome sitting on in a matter of seconds.
"I resent that!"
She had a veritable nest building on the expanse of corrugated bark, a little nook being created by an adjoining section of sturdy wood where, bingo: his textbooks were piled next to an open bag of chips, one of them open to a page about the Heian period.
"Only birds steal things to make nests, y'know. I'm just callin' it like I see it."
Kagome's wings flapped irritably as she scoffed, waving his comments away with a flick of her taloned fingers.
"You can't just take my books without mentioning it. Ma'll wring my neck, and you'll be out one shard detector."
She loved his mother. Every time Kagome got even a flicker of praise from Izayoi, she'd brighten.
"I'd never let you go home without them," she said defensively. "You just weren't using them and there were things I wanted to see."
"I carry them to use them."
"Why don't you ever take them out?"
"Uh, does the constant threat of power hungry demons ring a bell to you?"
Her brow crinkled at that. Inuyasha reined in that blooming affection he felt at the sight, it was creeping up far too often for his liking.
"Fine," she replied softly. "Not like I can decipher it all anyway."
At her sullen mien, Inuyasha gestured to her pile. "Hand it over. We'll look at it together. That cool?"
Kagome plucked the heavy textbook one-handed and with lots of enthusiasm. He set the book between them on their legs.
"Tell me what you don't understand and we can go through it together."
She blinked at him in awe, a gentle smile curling on the side of her mouth.
-
"Oh, the sun's starting to set."
"I was supposed to be studying math this whole time."
"Ew, math!"
"Tell me about it."
-
Midterms came and went.
He had to retake his math exams.

How To Tame A Sorcerer (27)
Tumblr media
"Alright, this is where we'll be staying," Gojo says, parking the last-minute rental car. The hotel is surrounded by trees and on top of a mountain. Surrounding the area is a fog to give it a more secluded feel.
"Ah! Gojo-sensei, this is so cool," Yuji says, getting out of the car. He bounces on his feet as he grabs his bag.
Gojo grabs his and Kagome's suitcase from the trunk and reaches for her hand as they make their way to check-in. He can't wait until Yuji sees the room he picked out for him. "Just wait until you see the rooms." He squeezes Kagome's hand. She's so much softer than him, even with the callous on her palms. If he's being honest, then he loves how she can protect herself and yet still depend on him.
The first thing that greets him is how bright the chandelier is and the golden fox statues. He closes his eyes and focuses on the low hum of demonic energy.
"Can you feel it too?" Kagome whispers to him.
"They really have been hiding in plain sight," he says, walking to the front desk. After spending hours in the car, he's not about to turn around and try to find a unique spot just because the hotel has a couple of foxes running it. "If they try anything, we could just kill them."
"The worst is that they'll play some tricks on us. Foxes aren't that bad."
Yuji huffs behind them. "What are you guys whispering about?"
"Nothing," Gojo says, before turning his focus on the red-haired receptionist. "Reservation for Gojo." He smiles. His glasses slide down his nose, giving the fox a peek into what will happen if they mess with him.
The woman squeals–and he fights back the urge to flinch from the high volume. "Oh, my goodness! You must be Kagome-sama," she says, pointing at Kagome and completely ignoring him and Yuji. "Yakeru told me all about you. I'm so happy that you will be staying with us."
Damn fox. Gojo groans as he sets down the suitcase to pull out his card and ID. He places the items on the counter and signs the paperwork.
"Yakeru has been talking about me?" Kagome asks.
"Oh yes! We are so happy that you are here." The woman snaps her fingers and two attendants appear from the air. "Please take their belongings to their rooms. I must show you the playroom, the little ones will be so happy to see you."
She's still ignoring me, Gojo thinks. He follows anyway, well more like Kagome drags him along. Gojo looks back at Yuji. The poor boy is just as confused and put off as him. "Do we have to see this playroom right now?"
"Yes," Kagome says, gripping his hand tighter, and he swears she picked up the pace. "This cannot wait."
"Alright, alright." Compromise–he read that in an article.
"Ooh!" Yuji exclaims behind them as they enter a room with tan carpet and towers made of wood. Several small red foxes are playing with one another. Some stand at the top of the tower. Yuji rushes past them and squats down. "Kagome-san, Gojo-sensei, look at them!" He picks up one, snuggles it close to his face.
It's so… cute. Gojo looks over at Kagome, who's gathered a small crowd around her. He wishes they were in the hotel room. Compromise, he reminds himself, he'll have plenty of time to show her how much he's missed her.
"Come here," Kagome says, patting a spot next to her. "They remind me of Shippo-chan." She rubs their red fur; the kits bask under her affection. Gojo takes a seat next to her, his legs brush against hers. The kits paw at him, not quite reaching him. As cute as they are, he's not dropping his infinity for even a second in this demon hotel. Kagome cuddles one close to her chest and then places the kit back down. "You probably need to rest." She leans over and brushes a hand along his forehead. He turns away, his cheeks heat up. "Are you blushing?" Kagome laughs, poking him in the side.
"That's just from my allergies," he says, standing up.
"You don't have allergies, silly."
"C'mon on Yuji-kun," Gojo says. The fox woman gives him a wide, fang-filled smile. He narrows his eyes.
"Let me show you all to your rooms. I'll have the staff prepare a meal for you." She motions for them to follow.
"We can put a barrier up around our rooms if it'll make you feel more at ease," Kagome says, walking next to him.
"I'm not afraid of some foxes." He frowns at the lack of response from the fox. The woman hands a key card to Kagome and another one to Yuji.
"Thank you so much, Kagome-sama for brightening our humble hotel." She grabs Kagome's hand, her eyes mist over. "It is such an honor, truly."
"Um, you're welcome?" Kagome pulls her hands back.
"C'mon, I got gifts for you two." Gojo plucks the key card out of Kagome's hand and opens the door. He shuts the door in the woman's still smiling face. "Y'know, not once did I encounter a demon on my trip. There's nothing you can say that will convince me that you aren't a demon magnet."
"I think there was a demon the other day, at the school," Yuji speaks up, as he walks around the room.
"Yuji-kun! There's a private onsen," Kagome yells.
Gojo shakes his head. Of course, she could care less about how spacious the room is or the very thoughtful gifts he got for them. He stretches, taking in how the first room is an eating area. Further down is the bedroom. He follows the sound of their squeals to the private onsen with a small makeshift cave.
"Your room has a private onsen as well," Gojo says, looking at Yuji.
"Really? You got one for me?"
"Can't have you using ours the whole trip." He pulls his shades down and winks at Kagome.
"Gross," Yuji says, fake gagging.
"Stay here," Gojo says, leaving them to retrieve the gifts from the suitcase. "Here ya go, Gome-chan." He hands the doubled wrapped gift to her and the one covered in cupcake stickers to Yuji. He smiles as the two share a look with each other before opening their gifts. His heart hammers in his chest, anticipating their reaction. He coughs, swallowing down his laughter. He can't give it away just yet.
"Seriously?" they both say, opening their presents.
"Hey! I put a lot of work into those." He bites down on his lip, but the laughs slip past.
"Not that I don't mind a new swimsuit, but really you had to put your face on them?" Kagome holds up the green bikini top with his face winking back at him on it. She pulls out the bottoms and glares at him.
"I see nothing wrong."
"They have your name on the back."
"I just got a bunch of Sukuna's fingers on my swim trunks," Yuji cuts in.
"See! I was thoughtful." Gojo nods to himself. "Yeah, I could have stopped at a souvenir shop, but this–this is much better." Kagome shakes her head as she places the items back in the box and gathers the wrappers.
"Thanks, Satoru." Kagome raises herself up and pecks his cheek. "Dinner is here," she says, walking towards the entrance.
"How do you know that?" Yuji asks, his voice joking.
"Woman's intuition."
Gojo opens the door on the second knock. Behind him, Kagome teases Yuji about how right she was. "Surely, you have actual room service," he says to the woman.
"This is a special occasion," she responds, pushing a small cart in with their food and drinks. She serves them at the table. "Kagome-sama, please enjoy this special blend of tea. It's a kitsune specialty."
"Oh, what's so special about this tea?" Gojo asks, leaning over, causing Kagome to lean back and the tea to slosh out. "Careful, Gome-chan," he says, taking the cup from her. He makes a show of how hot the cup is, pretends to fumble with it, as it spills out on the table. "I am so sorry, receptionist-chan."
The woman grits her teeth, her eye twitches, but she cleans the mess up all the same. "I can bring you some more," she says, gifting Kagome a genuine smile. Gojo narrows his eyes at her over the rim of his glasses. She lacks any murderous intent, but he still doesn't trust her. "I have a gift for you, Gojo-san. But I ask that you please open it until later."
"There's no need to bring any more tea. Perhaps we can all try that special tea some other time." Gojo dismisses the woman. Once she leaves, Kagome pinches his cheek. "Hey–ow, easy on the merchandise."
"Why are you being so rude to her?"
"She put something in that drink. Who knows what it would have done?"
"I thought foxes liked Kagome-san, though?" Yuji says, stuffing some sashimi into his mouth.
"That's even worse," Gojo says, throwing his hands up. "What if it was something to brainwash you?"
"You watch too much anime," Kagome says, pouring herself some green tea. "But I will be more cautious, if it makes you feel more at ease."
"Yuji, after you get done eating, get some rest. Your room is the one next door. We're going horseback riding tomorrow. Supposedly it's all the craze around here," Gojo says. He stuffs his face and uses his free hand to rub circles into Kagome's thigh under the table.
"You really put a lot of thought into this trip." Kagome flashes him a smile. His breath catches in his throat, and he swears his heart is trying to claw itself out of his chest and into her palms. His brain short-circuits. For once, he can't come up with a witty remark.
Yuji yawns as he stands up. He grabs his gift and pulls out his key card. "I'm gonna go relax in my room. Thank you so much, Gojo-sensei!" Yuji waves, walking out of the room.
"I want to see what they got you," Kagome says, after a beat.
"Maybe another fox statue, since they seem to love those so much," Gojo says, standing up and retrieving the box off of the cart. He sits back down at the table. "A cursed object, maybe?" It's surrounded by protective writing. Gojo opens the box, Kagome leans over to get a better look.
"Is that?"
"Yep," he says, picking up the finger. "Wanna purify it?" He holds it out to her.
"Must be a peace offering," Kagome says, taking the cursed finger from him. She purifies it, leaving behind a paler finger. "Are you going to give it to Yuji-kun tonight?"
"Nah," he says, taking the finger back and putting it in the box. "Maybe we should stage a scene? Like we found it somewhere."
"You think Sukuna is catching on?"
"Well, you haven't been subtle with your powers lately." He shrugs. "But who cares about that?" He turns to her, pulls her flush against him. "Don't you want to try out the onsen?"
He kisses her slowly, taking his time. Each breathless moan belongs to him. His hands cusp the sides of her face as his tongue demands entrance. There's no place he'd rather be than where he's at with her.
"Heh. Looks like someone missed me." Satoru teases, pulling back and trailing a finger down the column of her neck and across her hardening nipples.
"S-shut up," she groans out, "you're the one all over me."
"Not yet, but I will be." The water sloshes around them. "I really like your swimsuit," he says, undoing the strings.
"Because you bought it or because it has your face on it?" She tosses the bikini top behind her. "What was the point in even putting them on?"
"Man's intuition?"
Kagome laughs, cupping his face and pulling him in for another kiss. He sucks her bottom lip into his mouth and bites down before swallowing her hiss. His hand slides down and dips into her bottoms. He cups her lower lips, his finger slides into her.
"Gome-chan, you're so naughty. This wet and I've barely touched you." He hisses this time when her hand wraps around him, teasing his head. "Just like that," he says, thrusting his hips into her. He adds another finger, slowly pumping into her, not quite giving her what she seeks.
"Stop teasing me," she says. He removes his hand and kisses away her protests. He wraps an arm around her and walks them to the bedroom. His lips never leave hers, not even when he lays her down and removes the last barrier separating them.
The bed smells of lavender but is soon replaced with the combined scents of him and Kagome. He takes his time rocking into her. Even with her pleas begging him to move faster, he will not be rushed this time. He bends his head, taking a pink nipple into his mouth. Her hands grip his hair, it's nearly painful and for a moment he wonders if he'll have any hair left.
"T-toru," she calls out, her hips moving against his frantically. He lets her nipple go with a soft pop and splays his hands on her stomach.
"That's it," he coos, still edging her on. He bites down on her shoulder. When she tightens around him, he swears as his hips stutter. He clenches his eyes shut, his chest rising and falling with each ragged breath. Gojo imagines that this what it feels like after drinking all night. His mind is hazy, drunk on her touch. She bucks her hips when he finds that sweet bundle of nerves.
"I'm gonna-" her voice breaks off, as she lets out a low moan. He kisses her again, his hips moving erratically now as he chases his own high. He's rambling around her mouth, placing kisses along her face and down her neck. He bites down her shoulder again, as his balls tighten and he's releasing inside of her.
Gojo rolls off of her and pulls her close, his hands comb through her damp hair. "Lazy sex," he says with a sigh.
"Lazy sex?" Kagome doesn't look up at him instead she snuggles in closer, her hand resting on his chest. He can barely detect the scent of lavender now.
"Yeah, we just had lazy sex."
"Most people would call that making love." She snorts. Her words hit him in the heart. His hand stills for a moment before going back to combing through her hair.
Love, huh?

*Shippo
I hate auto correct
Ah, Shippo! He’s the only one in the original group who’s super easy to place in the role reversal (he was orphaned because his father was killed for his pelt, and not the jewel.)
So Naraku would be a more involved person than Inuyasha was, but he’d be a fairly poor influence on Shippo (keep in mind, Naraku used to be the bandit Onigumo.) Kagome would want to still treat and raise Shippo like the kid he is, while Naraku is trying to teach Shippo what he learned. What he teaches is (mostly) coming from an good place, but it’s still very much “your traps should be lethal, so you can beat anyone who is stronger than you.”
Now, both Kagome and Naraku are in their teens (Onigumo has a broad age range, so I opted to just make him only a couple years older than Kagome. And Naraku doesn’t have those 50 years to grow and get used to his new form. He had *weeks*, and that’s being generous.) so they’re less parenting Shippo then Kagome saying they can’t just abandon him, and Naraku only putting up a minimal fuss over it (because they’re both struggling to keep themselves alive. Inuyasha was way more experienced than Kagome and Naraku are.)
They’ll get through it though! Naraku and Shippo’s relationship is going to be different from Inuyasha and Shippo’s relationship from canon.

As promised, here's my girl, Kouko!
Kouko Yoshida, Also known as 'The Sapphire Swordmaiden', is a stoic demon slayer wandering on her own with nothing but her sword, her horse, and her wits. Though her height, with her standing at about 6'2, and her closed off demeanor can make her look a bit cold if not downright intimidating, deep down she's actually just a warmhearted softy with a habit of feeding fish and other animals she comes across on her adventures and picking up pretty rocks. She's more of a gentle giant than anything else when it comes to people or animals, even if she harbors a deeply set grudge against near all demons for reasons she refuses to share.
She meets the main cast through a misunderstanding started through her having a jewel shard or two on her person that ends in the crew gaining two more shards, and a new party member.
She sticks near Kagome and Sango a majority of the time when she isn't alone, mostly because they seem the most trustworthy, with her being terrified of Shippo, and giving Miroku a near constant silent treatment after their first interaction. Though oddly enough Inuyasha seems to be more on her good side than either of the other guys on the team, with her seeing being half demon as being more trustworthy than a fullblooded demon.
They do end up falling in love, but that's only way later down the line after a long buildup- But that doesn't mean I won't post content about how they get there and what comes after LMAO
(I'll make a backstory post for her soon! :D Poor girl has baggage LMAO)

YASHAHIME REWRITE OUTLINE
Since I’m probably not going to make a season rewrite, because I just don’t have the energy for that, I thought I might at least share my outline.
So the jumping off point is my Sesskagu fic “Now She has a Heart” which depicts a post series romance between a newly returned human Kagura and Sesshomaru having Setsuna and Towa. Kagura’s human body has poor health, and so she doesn’t have long to live. A few years after the fic, she dies of her weak body and is revived by the Tensaiga.
Shortly after this, when the girls are all around seven or eight, her health starts declining again. Sesshomaru leaves to find a cure, but while he’s gone he attacked by the villain of the series. The villain (not sure if I’ll use the one from the show, or if I’ll pull a rumiko and have a bunch of rando villains before the end one) mind controls Sesshomaru who will now act as more of an antagonist.
Kagome possesses two of the pearls because she was using them to visit her family on occasion (she was gifted them in the fic). The villain wants revenge on Toga’s bloodline, so he attacks Inuyasha and Sesshomaru’s family. This guy is just too powerful, but Kagome thinks she can maybe take him. Inuyasha is severely wounded and Kagome is able to seal him in the tree (because, idk, it would parallel the original series and it makes a little more sense).
Kagura is also mortally wounded in the attack and with the last vestiges of her power is able to send her children away. The twins are separated, and Kagome finds Towa. She gives Towa the pearl and sends her to the future as a last ditch effort to protect her niece. Moroha is with Sango and Miroku who are fending off a demon hoard. Setsuna is picked up by Sesshomaru’s mom. Kagome faces off against the villain, and is able to severely wound him, but is sniped at the last minute by a secret villain and captured.
Okay, so to recap: The girls are all around 6 or 7 years old. Towa is being raised in the future by Kagome’s family who know who she is. Towa has some trauma related amnesia and sort of just forgets about where she came from. She knows she’s adopted and that Kagome is her aunt, but she can’t recall anything else. The Higurashi’s decide to raise her normally, and her demon powers seemed to be sealed with her memories.
Moroha is raised by Sango and Miroku. She is determined to avenge her parents (as they all believe them to be dead), and in general has a strong dislike of demons. She’s largely the same except she doesn’t have a debt to pay off. She’s a demon hunter because that’s what Sango’s clan does. Rin is also here, and she's the only one to have any contact with Setsuna.
Setsuna is raised by her grandmother. She becomes a warrior maiden who has sworn revenge on the villain who killed her mother (and to her knowledge her sister). She keeps in some contact with Rin whom she sees as an older sister of sorts. Rin is the one to try and appeal to her humanity, but Setsuna sees humanity as weakness both due to her grandmother’s influence as well as her own inability to protect her mom and sister.
Fast forward to the start of the series, seven years later. The villain has been recovering from his wounds all this time, and with the help of a pearl decides to try and attack Moroha. Moroha has a pearl from the rougue, but doesn’t know it. Setsuna, senses the villain has come out of hiding and comes out to meet him. Together, the two girls fight but are over powered. They escape to the future, Moroha not aware that she has the ability (and not trying because she doesn’t want to inform her maternal family that Kagome is dead).
Once in the future they meet Towa and it largely goes the same from there, except that Hsui and maybe Koga’s kid and shippo or someone like shippo will accompany them when they go on adventures in the feudal era. I feel like this will round out the cast a bit more.
I don’t think Koga has a son in the actual show, but in my version he does have a son. I can’t really think of characterization besides a funny dynamic with Moroha. I think it’d be funny if initially he comes onto her like how Koga came onto Kagome due to her abilities, and then once her personality comes out they start clashing real hard.
What rubbed me wrong about the show is that it needed to get the parents out of the way, but it didn’t do it in a way that respected them. I like aspects of it, like someone being sealed in the tree, Sesshomaru being an antagonist again, and the idea of the next generation having adventures. but the way all the characters acted like they didn’t know each other didn’t make any sense.
Anyways, If you got this far, how’d you like it? is there anything you would change? Anything you would add?

I’m Team #Sesshomaruisgayorace (in fact all the evidence lines up with this pretty hard, as I heard like Jakotsu Sesshomaru was originally intended to be female and Inuyasha’s sister but Rumiko changed him into a queer-coded man instead because she was uncomfortable with Inuyasha beating up women. Hence the makeup and why his Obi is tied the way a prostitute’s would) but I can’t deny that if Sesshomaru had to be with a woman Kagura is the most likely choice, definitely not Rin. Because she actually is a woman for one unlike Rin the eternal child.
I have my own preferred gay ship for Sesshomaru but Kagura’s definitely the only canon woman for him, Rin was always a non-starter and you know how I know this? Because anyone who’s familiar enough with Rumiko’s works knows that she loves her messy love triangles/squares and jealousy flare ups in order to indicate romantic interest. Rin not only never got jealous of Kagura over Sesshomaru but she was outright shipping them herself! Raisins will try to argue “Oh she developed feelings for him later, she was too young at the time to realize how she felt!” Miss me with that shit! If Rumiko could make her previous kid characters get crushes (We even have an in-series example with Shippo who’s exactly around Rin’s age) then she could’ve had Rin develop a crush on Sesshomaru and display jealousy over him. She didn’t though, what does that tell you?
Furthermore, Sessrin is just so outside the usual dynamic Rumiko does with her couples. She is a feminist and has never once written the woman in her couples to be completely meek and subservient to her man, her couples always have this passionate and dynamic push-pull energy and like even if you take away the age gap and made Rin an adult when she first met Sesshomaru while leaving everything as is it would make for a totally bland and boring ship. (Also Rumiko has in the past made fun of mocked Lolicons with her character of Ran in Urusei Yatsura, look it up, so no she’s definitely never had a favorable view of them considering she’s an extremely mainstream/“normie” mangaka whose works are enjoyed by the general Japanese public in general rather than the loser incel otakus.)
Spot on, Anon! SessRin falls outside RT's classic couple dynamic, in which BOTH PARTNERS ARE EQUAL. Typically they're in the same age range and neither has the other under their thumb - they're independent characters, and while they may bicker and fight there's never an outright "victor" who squashes the other partner.
Of course Rin and Sesshomaru don't fit this mold at all, but Kagura and Sesshomaru do. Kagura is the only character who regularly gets away with badmouthing and standing up to Sesshomaru, even kidnapping his ward.
RT has also mentioned that she's fond of having her couples express their love through their actions, rather than "I love you"s...a while back someone posted panels from the manga that showed Kagome and Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku, and Kagura and Sesshomaru uttering/thinking variations of "I wanted to see you", which seems to be RT's substitute for "I love you".
In Kagura's case, she thinks to herself that she wanted to see Sesshomaru before dying, and he famously tells her "I knew it was you" when he goes to see her one final time. They're older and more subtle about their feelings compared to the other couples in Inuyasha, but they fit RT's classic couple dynamics to a T!
That said, any interpretation of Sesshomaru's sexual and romantic orientations is totally valid!! Just as long as it doesn't involve making the poor guy a stinking groomerpedo! ☠️

INUYASHA: HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF
It’s a regular day at the village and Inuyasha is watching over his twin kids along with Shippo, whose is showing off his tricks. While Shippo is a bit annoying, he did give Inuyasha a idea and ask Shippo, “Hey Shippo, can you look over there?” pointing to the opposite direction. The kitsune ask, “Why?” and Inuyasha only reply a bit annoyed, “Just look that way.” Shippo did as he is told to do and Inuyasha whisper to his son Akio and daughter Moroha while handing them sticks, “Now, this is how you fight demons, kids. Not all of them are dumb to turn their back on you like that kitsune, so you have to find a different exposure spot to strike. In any case, ready your weapon.” Akio and Moroha are shown how to hold their sticks like swords as their father instructed, “Prepare for the right moment,” as Shippo cry out, “Inuyasha, what am I even doing?” which Inuyasha shout, “and strike!” Shippo turns around just as the two kids tackle him and give light hits on him with sticks. The kitsune cry out, “Ow. Ow. Ow. Stop it!” which catch Kagome’s attention from the garden that she run to the scene and order her children, “Akio! Moroha! Stop it! You know better than hurting poor Shippo!” As the kids stop, Moroha said to her mother, “Mommy, daddy teaching us how to fight demons.” which cause Inuyaha to be nervous. He quickly look away as his wife give a angry look at him.

I think the episode that really bothers me is episode 10 of the final act, Flowers Drenched in Sadness. The demon said Kagome was sadder than Inuyasha. Kagome said the whole team was sad about Kikyo's death not only Inuyasha. It felt like it was invalidating how Inuyasha felt. I hated how Inuyasha apologized to Kagome because he didn't realize she was hurting too. The only reason she was hurting was because she was upset that Inuyasha was grieving Kikyo. Shippo and Sango had no sympathy either. Sango telling Kagome to make Inuyasha sit. Only Miroku seemed a bit sympathetic. Inuyasha felt like he failed Kikyo. You would think his friends would try to be understanding about that.
This is scary Anon! I can add to your words, not only sad! This is something I can't understand. How could she be sadder than him. She is Kagome Higurashi who throughout the series and in her marriage to Inuyasha still hates Kikyou and how Inuyasha loves her. kagome wasn't sad and that's a lie! Everything in this series is to make Kagome "pure of heart" and "forgave Kikyou for bad deeds", but in fact she never really liked Kikyou because she considers her a rival and still is, her jealousy of Kikyou is downright possessive. She was more scared that Inuyasha would go to Kkyou and she didn't want to let him go. She didn't want him to go to the woman she loves and SHE must have him.
Tumblr media
she expresses concern that Kikyou is alive! Knowing that he loves Kikyou more than anything in the world, she expressed concern that she was alive instead of dead.
Tumblr media
She doesn't want to let him go to her because he has to stay with a possessive and jealous kagome who considers him her own property and thinks of her own selfish feelings instead of his feelings.
Since she "loves" him so much, she should let him go with the woman he truly loves, and all she can do is take Inuyasha away from Kikyou and be with him.
Rumiko very often shows and expresses that Kagome is the saddest and her feelings are more important than Inuyasha's even about Kikyou. The feelings she has are sadness, but that inuyasha will go with Kikyou and leave her. What is the true sadness of kagome, not about Kikyou. She never cared about Kikyou. She hates Kikyou with all her heart, she hates that inuyasha loves her more in the world this realization drives her crazy, she can't stand being second, she's also hurt after getting married because she knows that Inuyasha loves her even though he's herhusband and her goal was achieved and she won him but she really failed to get Kikyou out of Inuyasha's heart.
Her sadness is the loss of Inuyasha, not Kikyou.
It annoys me that kagome's feelings to be the most important and inuyasha always to show as stupid heartless idiot who "hurt poor kagome, even with Kikyou. Rumiko did such a disgusting thing, really it's Inuyasha who suffers and his feelings should be the most important here, and his suffering should be in the center and love, but not Rumiko wanted to make kagome so "pure heart" emphasizing how her "sad she is, more than Inuyasha" BS
As for sango, shippo, miroku… they are kagome's friends, they will always stand by her side. No matter what kagome does, it will always be inuyasha's fault, even if kagome is wrong, because HER feelings are the most important here, not him and his tragedy he experienced twice. Miroku had some respect because Kikyou saved his life.
So Rumiko loves to emphasize and focus on kagome's feelings and insulting inuyasha's feelings saying that kagome always suffers more and inuyasha is an idiot not seeing how she is hurt by him and when it comes to Kikyou how sad she is when her actions and words contradict.
