The Awakening

Chapter 7 (Part 1)

Motionless, everyone watched El and Will with bated breath. Holding onto Will’s hand as if it were a lifeline, El seemed to take the same position he had: a firm stance, arms outstretched, head slightly down. Both of their eyes remained shut. The only difference was Will’s face was calm, almost stoic. El’s face twitched as if she were fighting something. It was all too familiar to Mike and Jonathan as they recalled being in a similar situation at the pizza kitchen not too long ago. But this time, Will was leading the way.

Mike continued to hold onto Will’s shoulder. He felt on the verge of tears not knowing what he could do to help him. All he truly knew, was that his heart was breaking. Even though Will was right here in front of him, he still felt that he’d lost him. And he was too late. He wouldn’t be able to let him know he found out about the painting. He wouldn’t be able to tell him that he felt the same way; That he understood they would always need each other. He couldn’t say the one thing that was always bubbling to the surface but never had the courage to face. Crushed, Mike ran his hand through his hair feeling defeated.

“Please, Will. I can’t lose you. If you can see El, listen to her, she’s trying to help.”

A small twitch flickered at the corner of Will’s closed eyes. Everyone was astounded. This was the first response Will had since being in his trance. It had to mean something.

Jonathan glanced furtively from Will to Mike. He knew how his brother felt about Mike; he could always tell. He also had a suspicion that Mike held deeper feelings for Will than he had let on. Either way, Mike was his brother’s best friend. He knew he was able to reach him before when Will was possessed by the Mind Flayer.

“Mike! You need to talk to Will,” Jonathan insisted, “tell him what you told him before, when you were younger. I think he can hear your voice.”

Stunned, Mike looked at Jonathan then to Will.

“Are you sure?” Mike asked, his voice wavering.

“Mike,” Nancy cut in, “Will’s your best friend, you need to try!”

Joyce choked back sobs as Dustin worriedly held onto her arm.

“Oh, Will,” Joyce cried, “come back to us, please!”

So…I started rewatching TMNT 2012 and you know... it's a lot better than I remember. I still place 2003 and 1987 above it but I'm definitely seeing more of its pros this time around.

I'm interested to see how the rest of the rewatch goes but notes so far:

Still not a fan of April (though I don't hate her) and I definitely prefer the episodes without her.

Season 1 is pretty rough (But that’s true for a lot of shows) and I don't really start liking the show until Season 2

Splinter I like a lot more this time but we'll see once Miwa comes back in as that's where I remember not liking him as much.

The boys really act like teens and I kinda love it. Makes me realize how much older the 87 and 03 turtles act. Does any crossover really address the maturity gap? (Especially with 03)?

Mikey still gets the short end of the stick and I wanna slap all 3 of his brothers upside the head at times.

But overall...having fun!

Final Timeline

The Awakening

Chapter 8 (Part 2)

The vines started to relax a bit as Will attempted to fight back tears. His hand buzzed with electricity and warmth as he struggled to block the image of Mike’s face from his mind. He shook his head violently as a tempest of anger sprung forth.

“I told him! I told him the painting was from YOU!” Will bawled as tears sprung from vacant eyes. A dam of emotions unleashed from deep within. Even though he’d spent days perfecting his gift, it stood for so much more than that. And it meant nothing to Mike. Will collapsed from the sheer pain of unrequited love. Years of built up adoration and anguish cried out from fractured memories. With each shudder he made, the vines around El’s neck eased.

Barely able to focus on Will in front of her, El wept in sorrow. Her brother’s heart was breaking right in front of her. This whole time, Will wanted nothing more than to help her. He sacrificed his own feelings for herself and Mike, not realizing that they never truly loved each other. Not the way he and Mike do and always have.

“Will...” El began weakly. “Will, Mike knows it’s from you. I told him,” she coughed as the vines tightened once more. Trepidation darted from her eyes.

“A lot of good that did, El!” Will spat out. “Mike obviously doesn’t care. It’s plain to see that no one wants me around.”

“My dad was right,” he muttered, looking at the ground in disgust.

Will resolutely began to walk towards Vecna.

“Will!! Will please!” El cried in desperation.

“I’m sorry, El,” Will said flatly, “it’s too late.”

Mikey struggled making a last attempt to reach the surface of the water. He managed to cling on to some wood. Sucking in gasps of oxygen as he looked down at the water, before something pulled him back down.

Mikey took in one last gasp of air before the thing pulled him under water, Mikey had tried to fight it but it was no use, he needed for it to let go, he couldn't hold his breath for long, except it wouldn't let go, not even as Mikey was struggling and fighting.

Mikey struggled more, managing to kick the thing away and swimm up to the surface, gasping for air, clinging onto the wood. He couldn't keep doing this, he needed his brother, where were they when he needed them.

He felt the thing grab him once again, taking in another deep breath before it pulled him down. He hopped his brothers would help him soon.
