This panel was PRECIOUS, I never expected a collab panel with Jojo’s sister, and yet here we are! It’s so adorable! Poor little Sky 🥺

“That’s not what happened!” seems to imply that the “Wahh- I can’t run” was Hyrule or Legend’s impression of Sky, teasing him for his lack of stamina. Typical younger brother behavior 😆

Legend and Hyrule were so mean this update 😆 Nice to see Warriors talking charge of keeping the youngsters in check. Time is too tired for that.

Speaking of Legend… the pink hair is gone! Repeat! The pink hair is gone! It’s back to the single streak on the side like before 😭

We see the postman running past the helmet from the boys’ recent fight… And we saw the monster (dink?) leaving it behind several updates ago. Good continuity

Reacting to their S/O getting surgery (+ Eri & Kota)

A/N: The surgery can be anywhere you want (Hip, leg, back, stomach, arm, etc). With Kota and Eri, you can decide if you're related to eachother or not.

Tenya Iida:

He would visit you whenever he could while you were in the hospital.

Iida would spoil you with small gifts (flowers, plushie, etc).

If you had to miss school for a while, he would bring you school work you missed.

If you need help catching up he would help you.

After you got out of the hospital he checked up on you making sure you were eating the foods you were supposed to and make sure your hydrated.

Denki Kaminari:

Denki would try to visit you while you were in the hospital.

Even wanting to miss school just to see you.

But you insisted he go to school and not skip, which made him pout.

Brings comics and video games when he does visit.

Would bring you missing work.

Would apologise when he can't help you with the work he doesn't understand.

After you got back to school, he was excited to see you recovering well.

Eijiro Kirishima:

Kirishima would visit you 24/7 if he could.

Unfortunately he can't because of being a hero student.

So instead he would visit you after school.

He'd bring you things you like to do/read/watch to make you happy and to see you smile.

He loves seeing you smile, especially if he's the one who made you smile.

Kirishima would bring you the work you missed.

He would force Bakugo to come with him to help you catch up on work he didn't know how to do.

After you got out of the hospital, Kiri stood by you a lot to make sure you were fine.

A bit worried that you'd strain yourself.

Eri:

The little girl would be bugging Aizawa to go see you.

She looked up to you as an older sibling so of course she would be worried for you.

The first time this child heard you were having surgery, she hugged you asking if you will be alright while crying.

She brought Mirio and Izuku with her sometimes when she visited you.

Eri also brought you a stuffed animal as a get well present, saying they comfort her so now you have one as well.

This precious angel even wanted to spend the night with you sometimes but Aizawa said no to the idea.

Eri got a little sad but agreed.

After you are out of the hospital, she would be happy your doing better, getting you a caramel apple with a big smile.

Kota:

This kid will not admit it but he was worried for you.

He already lost his parents and didn't want to lose someone else.

When the surgery went good, he was relieved.

Kota tried to hold in his tears but failed at it.

He hugged you but admittedly let go if you said ow.

The times he visited you, he talked to you about everything going on.

One time he fell asleep beside you on the hospital bed while talking to you.

You held him, playing with his hair before falling asleep as well.

He slept good that night.

After you are out of the hospital he would be protective of you.

Even acting like he is the big brother of you (Which is ironic since he's younger).

Koji Koda:

Poor baby was so worried for you.

He'd visit right away, probably stay at the hospital during your surgery.

Koda's sweet mother would be with him as support.

She also worries for you since she sees you as a daughter.

Koda brings you his bunny as a support animal for you.

He is shy when with you but he truly cares for you a lot.

Tries his best to help you with things you need.

After your out of the hospital, Koda was gentle with you.

Watched you to make sure you were okay.

Fumikage Tokoyami:

Tokoyami would be at the hospital during your surgery or else he would be worrying about you.

The boy would be with you through it all.

Dark shadow would be with you too, happy to see you awake and well.

Tokoyami and Dark Shadow would both enjoy talking to you about things for hours. Or just enjoying your company.

Tokoyami would play his music and you both listen to it.

He'd bring things you love so you won't be bored. And if your up to it, your school work too.

This bird of darkness is very paitiant with you.

When you are no longer in the hospital, he watched you from afar and made sure you were being careful. (Then stopping you if he thought you were straining yourself.)

Shoto Todoroki:

Shoto would visit you when he could.

He already visits his mother Rei so he is the most calm in hospitals.

If his father doesn't like Shoto visiting you so often, he'd ignore Endeavor.

Not caring if his father was angry, he's gonna see his wonderful partner.

There are times when he doesn't visit since he is busy a lot.

Would stay in the hospital for hours just talking with you.

He'd bring his friends with him(with your consent first) to help you with school work you missed. You all being a study/catch up group together.

After your out, he'd watch you carefully.

He may not show it a lot, but he does worry your going to get hurt.

Katsuki Bakugo:

Visits you occasionally.

Would bring you food he cooked, saying it's "way better than shitty hospital food."

If you are limited to certain foods, he'd complain but make you food you can eat.

He'd help you with the work you missed, getting mad or complaining when you don't understand something.

He would be more gentle/softer with you when alone.

After you are out of the hospital, he would be protective of you more.

Protective boyfriend mode activated.

If you had surgery done to your stomach and jeans bothered you, he'd lend you his sweatpants.

Maybe a hoodie also.

Izuku Midoriya:

Izuku would want to visit you all the time but between hero studies and All Might, he'd be caught up a lot.

Still managed to visit you.

Would write down notes about everything (limited foods if any, your condition, how the surgery went, what you can/can't do, etc).

Worried about you at first but calmed down after a while.

Help you with anything such as missed schoolwork and other things.

Like Shoto, Izuku would bring his friends with him.

He'd talk to you about his days and events that happened to him and stuff.

After you are out of the hospital, he would moniter your condition and how you feel.

Baby is in mother mode.

Prologue: Calm of a normal life

Long ago up in heaven there was an angel whose love shined brighter than the stars above. Her kindness for the poor lost souls was known from far and wide even the little demons in hell longed for an ounce of pure love. And so she shared it with them.

Yet she still had time to love something else over the many others she took under her wings, a small angel whom she cared for deeply, her own son. Soon enough the child would take more of her, it was only natural! But you see her love wasn't something one could forget easily, Its absence was noticeable.

And many indeed noticed. Envy is a poisonous thing truly and the ghoulish creatures embraced its sinful teachings, after all why should one angel receive so much?

They were quick to spread that seed of envy in heaven, dark whispers to drive others to do their bidding until one fateful night someone fell to the temptation, he stole what was so dear to her, he took her child and subsequently fell from the heavens dragging the poor little one down with him.

Her sorrow was felt from the brightest corner of heaven to the darkest pits in hell. Her anguish was the only thing that made the demons run with their tails between their legs.

Yet it was too late...to this day her little one is nowhere to be found, her own broken heart filled up with unbridled rage that cannot be quelled. What the demons and that fallen angel took was far too precious one can only wonder what she'll do when her heart can't take the pain anymore.

Hell will tremble before her if it means her son gets to come home.

Dewdrop was a ghoul of many talents, charismatic and a little shit by profession, but he by satan isn't a patient ghoul. Everyone knows this, his flame can spark to life in an instant and it’ll be everyone's problem and yet that seems like a reasonable risk to the two terrors that are playing with his tail and hair.

Both Phantom and Aurora still acted like kits and lord knows they have the energy of one, but he's still tolerating the claws digging into his tail of the playful bites to his hair “You two are going to give me grays before i turn 40.” the ghoul grumbled while pushing Aurora away from him.

“Aw but we love playing with you!” Phantom chirped from behind him before rubbing his cheek against Dewdrop’s back, a loud purr rumbled from the younger ghoul “yes but i like my tail without any bite marks and my hair to still be intact before noon”

Dew huffed, smoke coming out from his nostrils. “Aw don't be like that Dewy, we promise we won't be rough on ya.” Aurora chirped while laying across the older’s lap, her puffy cat-like tail swishing around in contentment . “Yeah yeah you always say that you little devil” Dew replied before shoving both ghouls off him making Aurora screech and Phantom whine at the sudden lack of warmth.

“I'm done being your personal jungle gym for the day can't you go bother Aether or something?” A small whine in protest “Come on shoo i have better shit to do.” Dew heard Aurora huff before leaving the den, probably off to bother Mountain or another poor soul but the baby bat remained, looking at him rather intensely.

“What is it? Do I look funny?” Dewdrop looked at the other taking a good look at the ghoul for a bit, Phantom shared the typical ashy gray skin of any ghoul but his was spotted by pale lilac splotches all over his body, some even went up to his hairline making his fluffy dark hair to have streaks of white all over it.

But most importantly his wings, they resembled those of a bat, black inside with white specks that resembled stars. The only odd thing was the small patch of feathers at the base of them. Phantom said it was his air ghoul genes and Dew wasn't really one to judge elemental fuckery.

His eyes though were definitely something, one was purple and it shimmered like the starry night sky and the other was a pale silver and it shined like pale moonlight. “I think you’re lonely.” The young ghoul replied “You feel lonely.”

Dew scoffed while rolling his eyes “I told you to not use your powers on others, you're still getting the hang of them.” Phantom looked offended, his wings flapping and his tail lashing unhappily “I'm getting the hang of ‘em! I swear, Aether said I'm making good progress!”

Dew still wasn't convinced “Accidents involving quintessence magic are more common than we would like, i'm just warning you, if it goes wrong it will backfire on you.”

Dew could feel his tail lashing, he was worried Phantom was still new on topside, a magical injury can be lethal on new summons, their bodies still recovering and getting used to topside “Just be careful okay?” Dew sighed walking away from the other ghoul “Go off and don't bother me” and with that he left, his mind settled into one ghoul.

The walk there was silent, no siblings out as many huddled off into their rooms to avoid the colder temperatures in the halls, winter can be such a blessing at times. His step perked up when he saw the familiar door of the infirmary’s office, his tail wagging a little.

He didn't even have to knock before it opened, letting the familiar scent of sage flood out towards him “Hey Aether..” The fire ghoul purred while the larger quint smiled at the sight of him “Hey firefly, what brings you out here today?” Aether moved to him inside.

“I'm just looking for some peace, the two kits got their paws on me. Fucking mites they are” He flopped onto the couch, his body instantly relaxing against the cushions. “I had to shove them off me Aeth, they need something better to release that energy” The fire ghoul groaned while his mate walked around the office doing Satan knows what.

“Have you thought of maybe actually playing and roughhousing with them, love?” He grunted while

Looking at Aether whom is checking some files “Expecting them to be quiet as a water ghoul is kinda foolish of you Dewdrop”

“How dare you, why does it have to be me anyway.” His tail thumped against the armrest “Why can't Swiss or Cirrus deal with them when they're feeling extra kit-ish” Aether only chuckled while shaking his head clearly amused “Because they like you firefly. You were there when they were torn out of the pit alongside the whole pack, and you were the first ghoul whom they smelled.”

Aether left the files in his desk before sitting next to Dew, letting the other immediately snuggle against him “They're still young and adapting, let them have some sense of security with you. I'm sure they'll open up to the others in no time” He paused looking down at the other ghoul with tender eyes “And leave you in peace.”

Dew wasn't expecting the sudden disappointment at the idea but he ignored it “I hope so. For now though you are stuck with me.” He purred while snuggling against Aether who chuckled at the others advances, Dew wondered if this is how the new summons felt when bothering him.

“I told Phantom he should be more careful with his magic.” Aether hummed signaling him to continue “He wasn't happy. He said that you told him he was making good progress, I want to know your opinion.” Dew looked up to his mate who looked deep in thought “He is alongside Aurora but they still have much to learn.” His tail thumped against the cushion.

“Why did you tell him that?” Dew sighed looking up to the ceiling “He used them on me. He said I'm 'lonely’ and I mean I guess I wanted to come hangout with you.”The fire ghoul huffed “Still I told him to knock it off, it's still dangerous especially to the caster or the recipient, if magic backfires on him or someone else…i don't want to imagine how bad it could be.”

Aether gave him a small nod in agreement “Im sure if that ever happens we will be there to help him, but even so you should give the kid some credit, him and Aurora are progressing well and im sure they will be great magic users, just give it time”

Dew only frowned, looking unsure “I hope you are right Aeth.”

I have so much that I want to say about this film.

There will be spoilers.

First and foremost, Ben Dalton is THE MOST useless character I have ever seen in any horror movie ever made, and that is saying A LOT because have you SEEN some of the useless bitches in horror movies?

Ben is worse. Here is a list of his transgressions.

Loses his daughter's stuffed bunny (to be honest, I think the other family stole it, but still) and then criticizes her about having it in the first place like???? She's an 11yo with anxiety; LET HER HAVE HER BUNNY.

ALLOWS HIS 11YO DAUGHTER TO RIDE THE BIKE OF AN UNFAMILIAR MAN DESPITE HIS WIFE'S OBVIOUS DISCOMFORT. Like, Louise is clearly Not Okay with her preteen child getting on this strange man's bike, no matter how hot y'all think James McAvoy is. Even with his "family" right there next to them. YOU JUST DO NOT DO THAT. AND IN EUROPE OF ALL PLACES.

Just generally acting like his wife is overreacting every single time she doesn't feel comfortable with something weird this other couple does. And I think he only gets away with it partly because she feels so guilty about cheating on him. But she's reacting pretty normally for all the weird shit they're pulling. And he is obvs in love with Paddy (James McAvoy; legit had to look up the name).

There's a line that Paddy says when Ben asks him "why?" and it is actually super good: "because you let us." Because yeah, Ben is such a fucking pushover, but only when it comes to Paddy. Because he thinks Paddy is cool and because he's a bit in love with him, I swear to God there should have been a kiss scene. And, yes, Louise is also a bit of a pushover, but she's constantly receiving pressure from her husband and sometimes from her daughter and she has that cheater's guilt, so she's inclined to do what they want, unfortunately.

ALLOWS AN UNKNOWN MAN TO BABYSIT HIS CHILD. Like?????????? Louise is also guilty of this, but he convinced her it would be fine. Like no??? My mom and dad would have started packing immediately.

DOESN'T GRAB A HAMMER WHEN THEY ARE GETTING SUPPLIES TO FIX HIS TIRE. LIKE YOU KNOW THESE PEOPLE ARE SHITTY AND MURDEROUS. TAKE THE HAMMER. BRAIN THE MANIAC.

He didn't do SHIT during any fight scene in this movie. It was all Louise as far as I remember. Literally. All he does is drive and hold a ladder up AFTER breaking his knee. He helps move some furniture for barricades but that is the bare fucking MINIMUM. Louise is the one that sprays acid in Paddy's face. Louise is the one that brains Ciara (creep wife) with a brick that ultimately kills her. Agnes is the one that stabs him with a needle. Agnes also finds clever ways to get her parents in private to talk by faking her period. And then ANT is the one who kills Paddy with a hammer. BEN DID FUCKING NOTHING.

That last thing - not killing Paddy - pissed me the fuck off. He could have at least done that one thing. This man has KILLED dozens of people and tried to take your daughter as a child bride AFTER trying to also kill you and you were just gonna let him live??? Poor Ant took out all his trauma with that brick. He's gonna need so much therapy which hopefully is covered by Britain's healthcare system because they live in London and, oh yeah, BEN HAS NO JOB. HIS WIFE QUIT HERS TO FOLLOW HIM. SERIOUSLY FUCK BEN.

There's probably more, but onto the movie.

This couple ignored way too many red flags. The first would have been Paddy (who was an abject stranger at the time, let's not forget) offering to give their daughter a ride. The daughter, Agnes, is eleven, let's not forget, and so probably doesn't have a strong concept of stranger danger, especially for the man who found her precious bunny, Hoppy. The Protagonist Wife, Louise, is uncomfortable with this (presumably because she is a normal human being and mother/woman) but Dad/Ben is like, yeah it's fine. They'll be right back. Look, his wife and child are here. Surely, he wouldn't abandon them.

Bro what

I mean he brings her back, but that's obviously just to build trust. I'm not sure how they continued to actually hang out with this weird af couple because I would have probably blocked them after the whole toilet paper debate IN PUBLIC because I'd be so embarrassed.

But that's just me.

This couple ignores so many red flags. And Ben pressures Louise into not acting like the normal human being that she is. Because he's in love with Paddy. Obviously.

On their first night at the Creep Family's house, Paddy force feeds Louise (a vocal vegetarian) meat. She is too polite to remind them that she doesn't eat meat. This is definitely another test.

Paddy convinces them to jump into a lake in their underwear which??????? They are wearing coats as they go on a walk. Is it not cold??? What the actual fuck? Red Flag

They invite them out to dinner and all three of them get dressed up in nice clothes, only to be told that the kids aren't coming with them and "hey look, it's our random neighbor with a tragic backstory who's gonna watch your preteen daughter and nothing bad is gonna happen at all, look he did a magic trick surely that means he's a swell guy, right?" Red Flag.

Once again, Louise is uncomfy, but Ben convinces her Agnes will be A-OK. Thankfully, she is.

They pull even more weird shit at dinner. Ciara pretends to give Paddy a BJ under the table and Ben and Louise just watch. RED FUCKING FLAG.

At some point, it comes out that Paddy and Ciara have been married for 17 years, which is insane because Paddy is so clearly much older than Ciara (sorry James, but you are aging, my friend) and Ciara doesn't look like she would have been legal SEVENTEEN FUCKIN YEARS AGO. R E D F L A G

While they're away doing that, Ant shows Agnes the watches and tries to make her understand, but he doesn't know sign language (or English, bc I'm so certain that his real parents were from a Norse or Germanic country) and she doesn't really get what he's trying to tell her, so it's all for nought. They move that one watch, though, and that raises a flag for Paddy later.

A red one.

Back at dinner, they saddle Ben and Louise with the bill. Another test that is failed. Also a major red flag.

Louise's cheating plotline comes out because Ben is being a lil bitch and I sort of understand why she cheated because this man is the definition of Small Dick Energy. They have some kind of convo and make up and go to sleep. Then she wakes up a few hours later and goes to check on her kid and finds her - gasp - missing!

So she goes searching and finally finds her in PADDY AND CIARA'S BEDROOM. My theory is that they drugged these kids because as Louise is pulling her daughter out of their bed (like a normal fucking human being), she is just so lethargic. She carries her to the other bedroom and places her down and she just flops over. She could be tired of course, but that's just very weird to me so I'm gonna throw down another red flag. Also I don't think Ant would willingly climb into bed with those two. Neither would Agnes.

So they leave for the first time.

Or they try to.

Agnes forgets Hoppy. I believe she dropped it in Paddy and Ciara's bedroom when she was being pulled out of their bed, but it could have been lost somewhere else. I just cannot believe that somebody who is so dependent and anxious without that bunny would actually forget it like that. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT MEANS THEY HAVE TO GO BACK.

Tbh, my parents would have kept driving and stuck to that "we'll ask them to send it" and if I had kicked the back of the driver's seat like that? I would not be alive anymore.

But of course, despite Ben being a dick about her bunny, he finally turns around and they go back.

There, he gets out of the car and tells them to stay and he'll be right back.

Do they stay in the car? No ofc not. It's a horror movie.

Louise doesn't wait like twenty seconds before she gets out, too, leaving her daughter. That's a red flag on her this time tbh.

They go in and talk to the family and Ciara says she was just trying to soothe Agnes because Louise wasn't coming (as if you have no idea where she was, bitch? please) and the family is placated and convinced to stay longer.

Fucking. Idiots.

Paddy takes Ben for a walk at some point and I cannot remember when but I think it may be after they come back. They scream into the woods, which is super weird and a lil gay tbh. I expect a kiss here, but I am disappointed. Sigh. Red Flag behavior.

Agnes and Ant show the parents their dance to Cotton Eyed Joe (a song about an STD that already has an agreed-upon dance, remember?) and Paddy just goes insane. Because of his meltdown, Agnes says she doesn't want to dance anymore, but Paddy convinces Ben who convinces her to dance again. Louise is trying to stand up for her daughter (because, once again, she is a normal human being and loves her child) but Ben is like "it wouldn't hurt" Fuck off, Ben. I hope Agnes goes no-contact with you as soon as she's old enough.

They start to do it again, but Ant is awkward and Paddy loses his shit. Again. So they stop. This whole scene is such a red flag idk how they didn't just leave. Especially after he throws something at Ant. Like???

There's also a scene where Ciara tries to parent Agnes and Louise is rightfully like???? Don't parent my child. And they make another BS Red Flag excuse. Fuck them.

Paddy goes and passes out bc he apparently drank too much and Ant sneaks in and grabs his keys.

This kids is smart as fuck, okay? He does EVERYTHING he possibly can to help this dumbfuck man and his family. He gets the key and plays horrible catch with Agnes, leading her into the basement of the shed where he finally shows her the horrible truth about his "parents", including a picture of him sticking out his tongue with his REAL parents behind him. Agnes, smart child that she is, understands immediately and then makes a plan with Ant to escape.

As she's coming back up the hill, she asks her Asshole of a Father to play catch and he's just like no I'm talking, so she goes and stabs herself in the thigh and pretends to get her first period, which obviously warrants her mother taking her into the bathroom to talk her through it. Then Agnes shows her the photos she took of the photo album and the shit really starts.

They try to escape, I'll give them that. If it hadn't been for fucking HOPPY the damn bunny, they would have been safe and sound (not Ant but tbh RIP). But nope. They make an excuse to leave bc this is a big moment for their daughter so they should be home now.

Nope. Flat tire.

They change the tire.

Hoppy is missing. It's up in the gutter ofc.

Ben climbs the ladder with Paddy at the base. Grabs bunny and throws it down before climbing down.

Oh no. Hoppy is destroyed pretty much. Mom says they'll get it fixed at home haha let's go!

Ben does a very nice thing and tells Ant to get the gate for them, presumably so they can take them with them when they leave. Unfortunately, Paddy has a remote for the gate. So they leave. Finally.

Agnes watches out the rearview window as Paddy just shoves Ant (who cannot swim) into their little pond. Ben, being decent I guess, jumps out of the car, telling them to drive away without them, and into the pond to save this poor, traumatized child.

I'll begrudgingly give him this one. It's the penultimate useful thing he does.

The last one is holding the ladder for them to climb from the house after his wife kills Ciara. He barely holds onto his daughter when she's about to fall off the room.

He. Is. Useless.

This is when the family drops all pretense and shit starts to go down. Louise is a Boss Ass Bitch for the majority of the time. She is the Brains, Brawns, and Badass in this relationship. Agnes is also very smart grabbing the needle and stabbing Paddy with it when he holds her hostage.

This is Ben's fault, by the way. When she climbs down the ladder, he tells ONLY HER to run to the car. Not stay with us so we can protect you. Run to the car when we have no idea where the homicidal maniac who has been nonstop trying to kill us is.

DUMB. FUCKING. BITCH. ASS. BEN.

Agnes paralyzes him, though, and they start to walk to the car. Ben stops to stare down at Paddy. He has a gun. The logical conclusion is to shoot him. Everybody in my theater is chanting "shoot him! shoot him! shoot him!"

Ben does not shoot him. I can practically hear his internal monologue going "it would make me the same as him" bc that's what so many dumbfucks SAY instead of doing what they should.

Ant does not have that internal monologue. His is more like "fuck this fucking motherfucker who fucking killed my motherfucking parents" but he cannot say all that so he just screams as he brains Paddy with a brick (probably the same one that Louise used to kill Ciara).

They watch in horror but, to their credit, they don't stop him.

Good. Green Flag.

That child is gonna need some serious therapy.

Anyway, they finally leave in their Tesla, which has bullet marks in the windshield so I cannot imagine how that's gonna look when they get back to civilization. Oh, btw, the bullet marks were put there by the guy who owned the restaurant they'd eaten at. He was also part of this whole thing. I do not remember what happened to him tbqh.

But as they drive away, shocked by the violence they just witnessed at the hands of their new adopted son, Ant stares straight ahead, numb. Agnes, ever the Empath, gives him Hoppy, as torn up as that poor bunny is, and he finally sheds some tears.

He is gonna need therapy. And Louise needs a divorce. Stat.

This movie was so fucked up, but I know it could have a worse ending.

Worse as in more bleak, not as if actually cinematically bad. The original ended the way it probably would have in real life, unfortunately. But they still have that line:

"Why are you doing this to us?"

"Because you let us."

Which is honestly fantastic. It feels like it's their justification for why they keep targeting these people. They're always wealthy. They force them, at gunpoint, to transfer all their money to them and then they kill the parents and the old child, and then they cut the tongue out of the new one so they can't say anything. Rinse and repeat.

But they do allow them to get away. They do allow them certain freedoms. They continuously push the boundaries of what each couple will take until they can't anymore. Then they strike.

"Because you let us" is such a great line because it is victim blaming at it's finest, but the audience who is watching this movie, seeing the dramatic irony of every boundary push forward, is almost inclined to agree with the antagonists.

Like yeah. You didn't have to go to this farmhouse.

But you did.

You didn't have to eat the meat because you're a vegetarian.

But you did.

You didn't have to pay for their dinner.

But you did.

So many times you could have said no, but you didn't. Because you didn't want to break societal norms and be rude, even though you were so uncomfortable. Because it's not that serious. But it was. You had so many chances to just walk away. You did, but then you came back and allowed yourselves AGAIN to be drawn in and have your boundaries crossed. And then it was too late.

Obviously, we, as the audience, know what is coming so it's so much more frustrating for us to watch them make these mistakes over and over again, but they don't. Still, the decisions they make are so questionable and it's a wonder if we, ourselves, wouldn't have made the same decisions.

There's another line in the film: "You give in when it's Paddy, but I see you have no trouble standing up when it's me."

Another reason why I despise Ben. He placates Paddy in all the ways he wouldn't do for Louise. She is visibly uncomfortable with so much, but he needles her into just accepting it. He pressures her into it. And, as previously stated, part of that acquiescence is her guilt over cheating on him, but it's also just him being a fucking asshole.

These characters are done so well.

James McAvoy, as always, embodies his character so well. He's in his thriller era and he's doing so well.

Mackenzie Davis is also amazing in her role. I feel like Louise's character was used to kind of being in charge of certain things, but her cheating thing is just making her more lenient to her husband, but she obviously like things done a certain way. And she has a lot of empathy and understanding toward her child.

Scoot McNairy plays Ben as this kind of not-tough guy. Like he obviously wants to be the leader of his family and has a complex. He idolizes Paddy for being very rugged and manly and wants to be like that (and also wants to be with dat ass). He is easily talked into doing shit because he thinks that's what he's supposed to do and doesn't want to upset his new (boy)friend.

Aisling Franciosi is really good at Ciara because it's so clear throughout the entire film that she is pretty much just an extension of Paddy. She probably wouldn't be there if Paddy didn't need her to play as his doting wife. She clearly has her own issues, which are probably borne from the fact that she is Paddy's first victim. She didn't deserve her life, but she certainly deserved her death.

The kids, Alix West Lefler (Agnes) and Dan Hough (Ant) were so good. Dan Hough had the hardest role in the movies because he couldn't speak and he had to act like he couldn't speak, but he also had to act like he was acting. He had to pretend to be their son while also trying to alert this family. And Alix was so good at Agnes, as a anxious little girl who is on the cusp of growing up, but still kind of socially anxious. She did it so well.

All the actors really acted their asses off for this film and I was very impressed. 10/10 honestly. This was a great film.

Yuta sits on a toilet lid while y/n stood in between his legs, tending to his wounds. Yuta can sense his girlfriend's disappointment. The pout on her face says it all. He knows that she hates his line of work now, but what else can he do? Once you're a part of a mafia, you're in it for life.

When y/n finished adding the bandages, Yuta placed one hand on y/n's waist and the other on her cheek. She leans into the warmth of his hand. Yuta looks in awe at his beautiful love. How was I able to have someone so ethereal to be mine?  He thought to himself.

"I'm sorry." He says lightly, "I know I make you so worried about me. If I could leave the crew I would. You know that right?" Y/n nods. Yuta sighs, "How about I make tomorrow about us? I'll order us some take out and we can watch movies and play video games all day. Sounds fun right?" This brings a huge smile to y/n's face. She quietly responds, "I would really like that."

"No, Yuta! You cheated!" Y/n accuses as she threw her controller down. "You cheated on the last game!" Yuta fights back. "NO I DIDN'T!!" "Button mashing is cheating in my book honey!" "Whatever..." Y/n pouts and crosses her arms. Yuta rolls his eyes, "Fine you big baby, I cheated. I'll buy you an ice cream from the convenience store." Y/n cheers with a cute smile on her face. Yuta chuckles at his child like girlfriend.

They left their home in their pajamas, not really caring about who sees them as they walk to the closest store. As soon as they make it into the store, Y/n rushes to the ice cream and almost trips over her own bunny slipper. "Hey! Be careful." Yuta laughs. Y/n thinks deeply about what ice cream to get. She finally chooses the one with vanilla and chocolate swirled together. "Yuta I want this one!" Silence. Y/n turns around confused. "Yuta?" He was no where to be seen. Before she could call out to him again, she feels an intense pain on the back of her head. Within seconds she sees nothing but darkness.

Y/n wakes up in a daze. The back of her head throbbing, but the only thing she's worried about is Yuta. Where is he?

Yuta fights against the ropes that bounded him. "I told you that you can't escape." A man states with an annoyed look on his face. Yuta stops struggling and looks at the man. "Who are you?" No answer. "Why are you doing this?" The man sighs at the question, "Your cute little gang owes me something." "What do they owe you?" "They know exactly what they owe. Maybe them getting a video of their precious member all beaten and tied up would make them work faster to give me what I want." The man gestures to the other men in the room. They move toward Yuta and start to beat him up. They punched him, kicked him, slammed his head to the ground, anything to make him draw blood. Soon the man told his goons to stop. He takes his phone out and starts recording Yuta.

"Poor guy. If only his friends just did what they were told. Tsk tsk tsk. What would make this all stop? Hmmm...oh I know!" The man turns the camera to himself. "Give me what I want or I would hurt him more." The man pauses, "Actually, I don't think I can hurt him more than I already have. New proposition, you have 1 hour to get here before I hurt his precious lady friend." Yuta's pain went numb at the mention of y/n.

"No...please..." He weakly lets out. The man just chuckles. "How cute. She's an adorable girl, isn't she? Her innocent bunny slippers. Would be a shame to see a bruise on such a soft face, huh? Anyways, get here when you can!" He sends the video to Yuta's boss, Taeyong. "See you in an hour, Yuta." The man walks out of the room, his goons following behind.

Yuta doesn't even care that he's going in and out of consciousness. He just wants to know if y/n is okay. Where is she?

Y/n sits with her knees brought up to her chest. She's been trapped in a dark room for who knows how long. She tried to open the door earlier but it was locked. She gave up a while ago and just sat in a corner.

BANG

Y/n jumps. Something just hit the door of the room she's in.

BANG BANG BANG

The door burst open. "Y/n?" "Mark?" "Guys I found y/n!"

The rest of the NCT 127 members, excluding Yuta, show up in the room. Y/n gives the closest member, Mark, a hug. That's when she realizes something. "Where's Yuta?" The members look at each other. "We haven't found him yet...we were kinda hoping you would know where he is." Taeyong answers. "Oh no..." Y/n starts to panic. "Hey don't worry we'll find him!" Taeil reassures her. "Yeah we can split up and look for him. Um...here y/n take this gun and search the hallway." Taeyong says. Without really thinking, y/n snatches the gun from Taeyong's hand then rushes out of the room.

Yuta tries to sit up multiple times, but he's too weak. Come on Yuta...we need to see if y/n is okay... He tries again then falls back down. He groans in pain. He was about to give up when he heard the sweetest sound known to man. "Yuta? Yuta are you in there?" She's okay? She's okay! He musters up all his strength to say, "I'm in here..." "Okay honey hang on!" y/n started to kick the door with all her might. Freaking bunny slippers. With a few more intense kicks, the door burst open. These doors are way too weak. Y/n runs to Yuta. She puts his face in her hands. "I should kill them for hurting you like this." Yuta lets out a weak chuckle. Y/n smiles slightly and starts to untie Yuta's hands and legs. She wraps his arm around her shoulders and her free arm around his waist. "Okay baby let's get out of here.”

Y/n and Yuta walk through many halls trying to find an exit, but no luck. Eventually they saw something. Sadly it wasn't an exit. It was Haechan. The man that caused all of this had his gun pointed at him. The man's goons were on the ground with bullet wounds. His back was faced towards them. Haechan sees the two, but tried not to look at them for long so the man wouldn't notice them. By the way that Yuta was looking at him, y/n knew for sure that that was the man who did this to them. "Where's your group now Haechan? They left without you? How sad. Maybe if you just did what you promised then this wouldn't be happening." The man scowls. "We didn't promise anything!" "Tsk. You really should learn how to keep your word Haechan. Now I'll have to kill you." The man turns the gun's safety off and was about to shoot Haechan when he heard someone speak. "Not on my watch, bitch." Y/n shoots the guy on the back of his head. Yuta and Haechan are in shock. The members came running in that direction after hearing the gunshot. They looked at y/n with wide eyes because she still had her gun raised. She looked so cool.

On the car ride to the NCT 127 safe place, y/n couldn't stop talking about what happened. "Yuta did you see me? The guy was all like 'don't break your promises' and Haechan was like 'wahhh don't shoot me' and I was like 'not on my watch, bitch' and the guy was all like 'ndihnfuinawebbdd'. Yuta I cursed AND shot a man! Didn't I look cool?!" The guys smile at y/n's cute excitement. "Yes darling, I saw." Yuta says with a chuckle. "What a rush! Yuta we'll be like Bonnie and Clyde!" Y/n rambles for the rest of the car ride, making the guys laugh and less tense after what all went down. Yuta stares at his love and can't help but think, that's my bunny slipper hero.

Don't really consume original batman comics, can't have acess to this things but I started to read and watch batjokes stuff. I'll say that I consume from the dark and reflecting to the wholesome peak, and one of that keeps heartwarming me is Telltale batjokes. Love how John can go from scary smiling creature to a precious sweetheart. Also like to see different versions of Joker interactions with the batfam in the various fancomics and fanfics. What makes think how I don't see many fics about John Doe with the batfam. Of course I see that is because the Telltale universe doesn't have the Bruce's kids, what is really sad because I think that "collision" could give us some truly great things.

What scenarios do you think it could be treated on these stories that you haven't saw being made yet?

Also, I saw once a post a person made talking how they'd like about John exploring more his sexuality. Like, that would focus more in the John's experiences out of Arkham BEFORE meeting Bruce again. Trying new clothes, talking with new people, discovering makeup (that I think he wouldn't get acess in Arkham). Do you have any thoughts about that too?

Recently I watched some videos that talk about John's possible disorders. How looks like he keeps switching from 'John' to 'Joker' and how he was way more "Joker" in Arkham, maybe having a kind of personality disorder. Sure, must be in that way because they wanted a different John from the one that we have in season one, but we can dream about this a little bit, can we?

John Doe and the Batfam

I think one of the reasons not a lot of people (including me) have incorporated the batfam into Telltale fic is that a big selling point for writing it is that the Telltale-verse is its own thing. There's much, much less history to complicate matters if you want to write a canon-compliant story, which includes there being no children to distract Bruce from his relationship with John, which a lot of fic focuses on. The batjokes is certainly what I enjoy! I don't have anything against the batfam (and I'm actually trying to read a little more about at least some of them), but since that interest has never been super high, my fic ideas never went in that direction.

If I do think about bringing in batfam, well, I get a little stuck.

While John is a lighter flavor of Joker, he's still a Joker, and Joker is not a parental person. In the comics he has had some interesting nonviolent interactions with kids, indulging or even protecting them, but that's not the same as being responsible for them. And one of the stronger Joker characteristics John has is his obsession with Bruce and wanting his attention. I don't think John would go all "Death of the Family" on a kid brought into the manor, but he would be wildly jealous. Like, my first plot bunny is John getting a visit from Bruce, who tells him about witnessing this tragic accident at the circus that left a poor child acrobat orphaned, and wanting to help him. Then over more visits, we get a story of little Dick Grayson insisting on investigating his parents murder, so intently that he becomes Bruce's vigilante partner. And John, who's been gnawing on his jealousy over Bruce spending all this time with some kid, loses his shit that an 8-year-old is a better vigilante than he ever was. Just spiraling about how Bruce is forgetting about him. He breaks out, insisting he can help, but just gets thrown back in again. A tragedy!

Okay, let's try one with John out of Arkham, and let's go non-chronological this time and say Bruce meets Jason Todd first. Jason's trying to steal the batmobile's tires, of course, but he's also a witness to a murder or something, so Bruce brings him home. This time John directly witnesses Bruce bonding with a troubled kid, and the jealousy is worse because John recognizes all the ways Bruce calms him down. John and Jason don't get along at all because John is constantly trying to get Bruce to shuttle this kid off to a nice foster home, but similar to the scenario above, Jason's moxy earns him a Robin spot. Then a twist! Jason has leaned into Bruce's mentoring because he wants to find his mother, who he's sure is alive! And John is like, well dang, I'll help you find her if it gets you out of my house. And in some eerie parallels to Jason's comic death, they end up overseas and find Sheila Haywood, who it turns out is defrauding the aid organization she works for. On being discovered, the men she's working with attack Jason, and John has this terrible opportunity to take his jealousy past the brink and let whatever happens to Jason happen-- but he doesn't. He saves Jason instead, not just because he knows Bruce would be wrecked but because he sees parts of himself reflected in Jason. There, that's sort of nicer! I still don't think John would be parental after that, but it would be nicer??

John's Self-Exploration

See, the thing with John having new experiences after getting out of Arkham is that they have to be limited, because that's key to what happens with his character in the game. He's really struggling with finding who he is, because he keeps trying to emulate other people rather than figure out what he personally wants to do with this life. (Which would be understandable even if he was the average person. It's easier to model yourself after somebody else than to put yourself out there again and again to figure out what works for you.) Before Bruce reappears, John is focused on being who he thinks Harley wants him to be and having a place with the gang. It ties into his hatred for Riddler, who just outright disdained of him instead of simply tolerating him like, say, Freeze.

He still naturally does some exploration, of course. He has to dress himself outside of Arkham, and he's a talkative guy so he managed to find, uh, acquaintances outside of the Pact at the Stacked Deck. It probably would have helped him a lot if he'd done more of that, but as much as he seems to act independently in the game, all too often it's in service of impressing Harley or then Bruce. If I were to write about John's exploration, it would probably be about restraint. He would be full of curiosity about the ways other people express themselves, and he'd stifle it because he's not sure if that's what Harley would want. Makeup would be a big curiosity for sure, but I can see John not indulging either because he doesn't see a lot of other guys wear it or because he asked Harley if he could try her kit and she decided to psych him out about it because she could.

Is it too drastic to say that a John who had even trepidatious confidence for self-exploration might have found more balance and avoided his fate in the game? Maybe, but I have to wonder.

John In Arkham Versus Outside Arkham

Personally I tread lightly when it comes to assigning specific disorders to John. It's one thing if someone recognizes their own diagnosis in him and uses that to inform a fic. When it comes to the writing in the game, as far as I can tell, it was just working off characteristics common to the Joker: impulsive, manipulative, self-important, and infatuated with violence, with a poor sense of boundaries and an inappropriate sense of humor. Those traits may be consistent with certain disorders, but there aren't that many fic scenarios where I would feel the need to specify what applies to John, and in those cases I would be extremely careful. When it comes to pure speculation? I'm just not qualified. Heck, I have a fic where I gave John a heart diagnosis and I'm still hoping I wasn't super off-base.

As for the shift from "Joker" to "John," I ascribe to the fish-out-of-water explanation (which, yeah, papers over how Telltale simply needed to change his character for the story). John learned a more aggressive way to navigate life when he was incarcerated in a corrupt asylum, and when the rules he lived by there did not apply outside of it, he had to re-map. Not only did he have to learn different ways to behave, but he had to do it while feeling more off-kilter than usual, exposed and vulnerable. Make a mistake when living in Arkham, you just get put in a deeper hole in Arkham. Make a mistake outside of Arkham, you lose all your newfound freedom and get thrown back behind bars. I don't see a "switch" in John, just him reverting to more aggressive behavior at times, especially when he's under stress.

The fact that Adrien and Félix are sentimonsters in my mind has helped me placing the Shanghai Special. I mean, I'm surely wrong, but I suspect that the Shanghai special is set right before the episode "Félix" in season 3.

Think about it.

Gabriel was wearing his wedding band. If the special had been set AFTER Félix, then when Gabriel disappeared with the ring, then ADRIEN, aka Chat Noir, would have vanished in thin air. But this doesn't happen, and you know why? Because his ring was safe at home on mama Agreste's finger. The one who died the second Papillon vanished in thin air was...poor unsuspecting Félix somewhere in London.

I can imagine the scene (and if some artist wants, hey can take the bunny and make a comic out of it!):

😀 Lawd help us. If you thought Joker was a drama queen before Chile.. This grown man acts like a child staying home from school with pneumonia rather than a cold.

J has transformed himself into a blanket burrito with only his freckled face exposed. And he look so pitiful.

He can't breathe out of his nose anymore which has turned scarlet red since he doesn't use the tissues you bought him, (you yell at him to stop using his sleeves!) and he takes random naps as his immune system tries to fight off this infection. It’s doing a terrible job.

A common cold last a few days at most. A full week and a half later, and Joker is still in the trenches.

This is when you start to worry and take his illness more seriously.

Feed a cold, starve a fever so you work overtime to nurse your man back to health. You prepare the best homemade soups, arrange all the tv marathons J could ever want, you even sneak him medicine with tried and true motherly tactics.

J refused to take medicine so you cave and buy him jello, applesauce, pudding etc. as a compromise.

Little does he know, you crushed the pills inside 🤫 In short, you watch over Joker like a hawk.

He orders you to stay away stating, 'he doesn't want his Bunny getting sick' but in the same breath, he makes you cuddle with him on the couch. J falls asleep using you as his personal teddy bear and you are totally okay with that.

Anything to help him sleep and recover faster.

The worst phase comes along when you wrestle out of Joker’s arms to grab the thermometer, and his voice stops you in your tracks.

"Ma? Is... is that you?"

Joker is delirious and you shouldn't take advantage of him when he's so out of it but what's the harm in feeding into his delulu? Its not like he'll remember anyway..

You weakly smile and reply. "Hush baby, I'll be right back."

J begins another coughing fit and has air remaining to steal yours with a single sentence. "No, I don't wanna be alone."

He sounds so weak, like a child confessing their worst fears to an adult. What kind of person can ignore a plea like that? You can't that’s for sure.

You’ll check his temperature later. Right now, Joker needs you. You crawl back into Joker's arms and he immediately wraps them around you.

"Don't... l-leave." His voice is breaking your heart, he sounds so scared!

You smooth J’s hair away to cup his face. You washed away all the harsh makeup and sweat days ago so you’re free to admire his natural beauty in all its glory.

Even fighting a cold, he's so handsome looking up at you with those glassy eyes of his. You doubt he recognizes you right now. Only you are allowed to see Joker so vulnerable.

Only you can take care of him and it’s an honor you’ll never take for granted.

"I’m not going go anywhere." You promise.

Oh, what a precious lil bunny you are!

As a gift of being good kid, The Harmony has granted Robin and Sunday a best friend.

Robin treasure the rabbit like they are her other-half, Sunday however,since a child wary of new people.

But both gradually realize since you are a doll blessed by an Aeon, you are practicqlly their imaginary friends, this is proven by how everyone in the mansion, the maids and butlers unable to see you.

Thankfully,you are an imaginary being, you don't need to eat anything. However,they learn that you thrive from sweet dreams,if one of the siblings having a nightmare you'd get a tummyache which the siblings won't like it when seeing you in pain.

As their bestfriend, you always be the middle ground for the siblings, they will bicker on smallest thing like children do and you just insert yourself in and giving a solution to them.

You stick more to Robin, because she was the first person you see after you come into being. You slept on her bed more, play tea party, and always become her singing audience if Sunday is busy with Mr Wood.

That's why when Robin decided to travel and couldn't bring you, you are entrusted to Sunday, the grey-ish one.

A news of fallen ship reached the Family, usually the Hounds will take care of it, but Robin obviously can't stand the idea of a outsiders guest to be hurt and especially in an unfamiliar planet.

A sole survivor, you, with some bruises and traumatize with your experience. The Hounds offer to take custody of you however Robin already beat them to it.

She knew she should've asked her bother first, but seeing you trembling and frozen in fear reminda her of the bird she took care with her brother. So, she brings you home.

Sunday is quite upset, you are not some stray dogs easily being taking in. You just survived a crash and confused with everything. Do you have ID? Family? How about a - oh...you don't speak the IPC language.

Sunday insisting on teaching you by himself, he knows it will be more controlled in what vocabulary you would use, and besides, perhaps he can get to know you more, nobody knows if you are a spy or not,right?

Besides, Sunday loves it whenever you speak in your language and the accent you have.

While Sunday mostly teaching the formal language, Robin gave you the casual everyday converstation. Your outfit was chosen and dressed up by her.

Robin really loved you and cared for you. Whenever you are near her, she would purposely using the Harmony to humm a song to make you relax and make you stay with her.

You are the bird they found wounded, alone and scared. However,the bird they have taken care before died, slamming itself to a window as it flies away. This time however, Sunday will never let that happen.

The bird wouldn't hurt itself flying if it has never left the cage in the first place, right?

It wasn’t hard to see that your husband was struggling. His age was getting to him, showing in the grey hair on the short-shorn sides of his heads and the wrinkles beside his blue eyes and the glasses that he now always wore, but he was as agile and limber as ever. Tommy was always running around the house and garden with little Edith Violet, the tiniest little three year old that Tommy had ever seen. She was born earlier than expected, in the dark middle of the night the night before an important race at the tracks, and your husband had stayed with you and held your hand as you gave him his daughter. Edith looked exactly like her father, high cheeks and black hair and stunning blue eyes, and, even as a babbling infant, Edith (or Edie, as Tommy and the boys called her), had her father’s temperament. There was absolutely no denying that Edie was a Shelby girl. But Tommy wasn’t struggling with keeping up with his daughter. No, Tommy’s struggles were much more concerned with his swearing off alcohol. He claimed that it made him calmer, a better father for Edie and your incoming second child, but it certainly took a toll on him.

“Edie,” Tommy said gently, pulling up the legs of his pants a bit as he sat down in his chair in front of the fire. Night had already fallen, but you and your husband were due at a gala celebrating some American politician— which one, you didn’t really care, but Tommy had bought you a new dress for the occasion and, being as heavily pregnant as you were, you would take any excuse to get dolled up. Your little daughter was already in her precious white nightgown, clutching her tiny stuffed bunny that she had named Alfie, after her “uncle” that had given her the toy; Ada was set to watch Edie for the night while you and Tommy were out. “Come here, ladybug, let me braid your hair up.”

You watched as Edie flounced to her father and was lifted into his lap, and she tugged out the golden timepiece from the pocket of his vest as Tommy deftly took sections of her hair and started to braid it so that it wouldn’t tangle as she slept. You could see in her little eyes that she was sleepy, and she clicked the timepiece open and closed for a moment before her voice came, her accent just like her father’s: “Daddy, who’s’it inside your clock?”

Tommy chuckled lightly. “That’s a picture of your mother,” he said. “The day I married her. I’ll tell you, Edie, I’ve never seen a more beautiful girl than your mumma.”

“Not even me?” Edie asked, and Tommy rolled his eyes jokingly.

“Obviously, excluding you, ladybug,” he said. “You two are my best girls, I’ll tell ya.”

Edie yawned and, as she closed the timepiece, you saw the small photograph that she had asked about. True to Tommy’s word, it was a photograph that had been taken of you on the day that you and Tommy had gotten married. It was a rather shotgun affair— you didn’t even wear a proper white dress— but you were smiling in the picture, and you knew that Tommy coveted the memory. Tommy finished with Edie’s first braid, and he smoothed his big hand down her head and kissed her little nose. According to Polly, God rest her poor soul, Tommy had been a small child too, but he eventually grew into himself, and you knew that Edie would grow to be a proper Shelby in size, attitude, and reverence.

“I think it’s time for the little ladybug to get to bed,” you said softly. “You’re yawning an awful lot, baby. I think Auntie Ada tired you out today, huh?”

Edie nodded, and Tommy started on her second braid. As you watched him, though, you saw his hands shaking a bit, and you sighed. Struggle, struggle, struggle. With this family, it was always something, and it broke your heart to see Tommy struggling as a result of something that you’ve done. If you hadn’t given him Edie and, soon, little Thomas, he wouldn’t have sworn off drinking, and he wouldn’t be shaking and tense and aching from the absence of the drink. You could see his illness in his face, just a little pale around the edges, and you could tell that he was nauseous, even as he sat still. Your heart hurt and you slowly stood from your chair, putting a hand on your swollen belly as you crossed over to the fireplace. You watched over Tommy’s shoulder for a moment, hearing his heavy, steady breathing, the same breathing that lulled you to sleep every night as he held you, and you watched Edie sway as her eyes stuck closed for a moment. If Tommy held the girl for even five more minutes, she would be asleep in his arms.

“Are you alright, love?” you whispered softly, lightly brushing Tommy’s salt-and-pepper hair back to lay in its proper spot.

“Just feeling a little…” Tommy started and shrugged. “It’ll pass.”

You clenched your jaw as you tried to think of a way to help, and you leaned forward and wrapped your arms around Tommy’s neck and laid your chin on his shoulder. “I don’t think one nip’ll do you too much harm,” you whispered, but your husband instantly shook his head.

“It’ll pass,” he repeated. “I need to be good and right when Thomas comes.”

You kissed his cheek, letting your red-painted lips linger for a moment, and you watched as Tommy secured the band around the end of Edie’s braid. He sighed, his shoulders sagging with it, and he put a hand under Edie and on her back as he stood up. He held his girl close to his chest, and you saw your sleepy head loll onto her father’s shoulder. She had fallen asleep as Tommy braided her hair. You followed him as he carefully ascended the stairs and pushed open the door to your bedroom, with the large, comfortable bed, big enough to fit all three of you; hopefully, eventually, all four of you. Edie had gotten into a habit of sleeping in-between you and Tommy and, while you certainly did miss the naughty touching that Tommy used to do at night, seeing the sun bathe your husband and daughter as they woke up together made your heart warm and made you thank every blessed mistake that you made that gave you that life.

Tommy settled Edie on his side of the bed, deftly slipping her under the heavy blankets. Once he had his girl situated and she had shifted to comfort, he stood up to his full height and watched her sleep for a moment, pushing his hands deep in his pockets. “When have I ever broken a promise to you, mouse?” Tommy asked softly.

You shook your head. “Never once.”

“Then, mark my words,” Tommy said. “By the time the little lad gets here… I’ll be good for him. Off the drink, no thoughts of going back, no shaking or sickness, nothing of the sort. You deserve someone better than an old drunk, they deserve better than that. They deserve a father, one that can play with them and love them and be there for them. I’m gonna be that for them. Ya hear me, Mumma?”

“I hear you, Papa,” you whispered, and you reached to take his thick arm between your hands. Edie had her mouth open a little as she slept, and you couldn’t help but smile. “God, Tommy… She even looks like you when you sleep.”

“Do I sleep with my mouth open?” Tommy asked, furrowing his eyebrows jokingly.

“Sometimes,” you shrugged. “Usually when you’re having a good dream.”

Tommy smiled down at his daughter, and he reached his hand to rest against your bump. A quiet moment passed, and then a small thump came from inside you— a kick to Tommy’s hand, courtesy of Thomas Michael Shelby Jr. “Then, Little Miss Edie must be having a very good dream.”
