Okay, no, wait, I gave one more complaint about Peter B's characterization and how much a lot of it seems to be based more on pop culture memes about Peter being an incompetent loser (bordering on 'haha poor people are stupid and that's why they're poor' tbh) rather than anything to do with his actual flawed character, and that's the annoying restaurant bad investment joke in ITSV - like, first, where is Peter getting the capital for that kind of investment, that is not broke people money, and second, it reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of Parker luck and why Peter struggles financially, which is that he's already at a disadvantage to start and the impossibility of balancing the two sides of his life bc if you've actually read a comic, you would know that Peter can't keep money bc something interferes with his life, whether it's Aunt May needing help with the bills or he has to prioritize saving people as Spider-Man over his personal financial needs.

So yeah, to reduce that to a cheap and out of character joke where the punchline is that Peter made a really stupid investment on something with a high risk of failure and haha, that's why he's poor and a failure is like, obnoxiously annoying in retrospect, and ITSV only gets away with it bc it at least have Peter some serious heartfelt moments like with Aunt May, but yeah, I've really fallen out of love with Peter B as a supposedly good interpretation of 616!Peter tbh
