well my real answer is that no nhl team is actually applicable to them and they're instead team gb at 2019 worlds going "we're shit and we know we are!" after just barely avoiding relegation by beating france in overtime. in this scenario pierresteban also represent france 💙

that's a good question though because it's something i've discussed with friends before but i still cannot make up my mind on! imo it's difficult to connect both sports because car development happens in such a separate personnel vacuum from prospect pooling for hockey so the narratives are not easy to ascribe... like you could justify a lot of different teams by focusing on a specific era or cluster of roster dynamics or even more superficial things like branding and color, but holistic justifications are a different beast and i tend to overthink the details. (imo the only obvious legacy connection is ferrari = habs because tifosi fervor and the Myth and History of each respective team. also haas = rags lol #fuckthemkids)

anyway we did think of Orange Teams but that's like er okay..... flyers or oilers??? also you did say 814 and not exactly mclaren, so that could also just be "which individual hockey player do you think is most lando/oscar coded," but the problem there (and i know i'm going to sound deeply biased) is that i've always associated lando with petey and oscar with robo LOL. actually i think the nux are kind of an interesting connection for mclaren because i was going to say that when it comes to nontraditional markets, they're both very established traditional teams but are also mildly out of place because mclaren is not a works team and all west coast hockey is oppressed ❤️ jkjk. mclaren is too historically successful to be vancouver...

speaking of success though, the other problem with trying to connect hockey to f1 is that winning a cup out of 32 teams is a much different quantifiable metric than winning a wcc out of 10-ish teams is... if you're looking strictly at patterns of success then the pens' multiple runs make them a little bit similar to mclaren, but you can also give them to merc or williams for the same reason, and i'd also shy away from Aging Core teams because a lot of 814's identity is literally that they're such a young promising duo. so then if we're looking at young team cores i would probably argue new jersey or buffalo... or like anaheim but Woking England is not california adjacent. there's maybe a cbj dynamic that would make sense for 814 but unfortunately i spend a lot of time pretending ohio doesn't exist

tl;dr: i really don't know 😭 do you have one in mind that you'd like to offer? i feel like i could write myself into a justification for a provided team but i'm also full of counterarguments for every single one. i'm so sorry this is not helpful.......

I didn’t exactly plan on dipping like that and I’m sure you’re probably pissed, or were but if you somehow manage to get through this stupid thing, then thanks… I’m doing better, thankfully.. sorted my shit out, like you said, as much as I think I can anyway… I’ve been clean for a while now, bar a few mishaps but I guess I should know by now that fucking up is just a part of myself that I can’t really change. I always liked that about you guys though, how you never judged me for it, I’ve found some pretty neat people here too, for the most part. I kinda cut my parents off too, but I dunno if I feel bad about that or not yet, guess I’m still figuring it out. I might give em another chance but half of me expects nothing to change, so I dunno… I kinda miss the Bay n’ stuff sometimes too y’know? Maybe not the rain though.. but I think I got so used to leaving things behind I didn’t really think it’d be any different this time around, maybe I was wrong. "Someone spotted you when you left the tattoo studio", Oscar said as he stepped inside the apartment after having spent the day in the Center, noticing you were wearing a cardigan even though it was a warm day out, "they posted a picture online".

"So it's not a surprise, is it?", you slumped your shoulders slightly, shrugging the cardigan off.

"I don't know what you got, so it's still a surprise, sweetheart", he smiled, hugging you and being mindful of the wrap around your arm.

Oscar sat on the sofa and allowed you to model the new tattoos for him. Your right arm didn't seem to have any new ink to it, the same three tattoos you had in there still looking beautiful after two years. You like the idea of having one arm slightly more bare than the other so your right arm only had those three on the inner side of it, peeking through whenever you were sleeveless tops. Your left arm was the one where the tattoos were the most noticeable, the ink pieces scattered along the extension of the limb.

"I got this one, it's a bee", you pointed to the inner part of your arm, "it represents my safe hive, the people who are always there for me even if I'm not there in person", you explained. You had moved in with Oscar a couple of months ago and, more than ever, you spent long periods of time away from your family since you travelled to see your boyfriend race as much as you could, "I know I can fly away, but no matter how far and how hard times can be, I'll always be able to come back".

"It looks so pretty, the detail on the wings is so precise", Oscar pointed out.

"I chose the artist at that studio because she is great at doing the fine line tatoos with red ink", you began again, smoothing out through wrap so Oscar could see, "it's a heart with some flowers blooming from it", you pointed to the anatomical drawing, "whenever I set myself to do something, I pour my heart and soul into it, and my intuition hasn't failed me, so it's a little symbol to that".

"The red is somehow both subtle against your skin and so eye catching as well, I think it's the contrast with this one here", Oscar lightly touched an older tattoo you had next to the new one.

"Then I got this one, which I am quite nervous to show you, actually", you admitted, looking at your right wrist and covering it for the mean time, "I know people are really fussy with having a relationship tattooed on you because things can change so fast, but I don't like to think like that - my tattoos represent times of my life and things that happened - and if anything happens and I can't absolutely tolerate it, I can always remove it", you shrugged your shoulders before uncovering it.

Oscar held your hand and inspected it gently - the thin knot was both black and red, symbolising you and Oscar with the different colours but tied together seamlessly.

"I had to get it on my right one because I wear my watch on the left", you mumbled and a little twinge of nervousness could be spotted in your tone given that he hadn't said anything, "do you like it?", you bit the bullet.

"I love it, it's so beautiful, delicate and feminine too", he smiled, kissing around it.

"I also got a lightning bolt here", you twisted your wrist, "this one is just black and it's quite tiny, but it's about all the times I insisted and persisted - my stubbornness too - and how much I value that in people", you smiled.

"You're stubborn? Never would have guessed it", your boyfriend teased, earning your giggles and an eyeroll from you, "the line is so beautiful, she did an amazing job!", he complimented.

"I also got my first neck tattoo", you mumbled, "well, it's the first time I do it there, not sure if that means I'll do another because it hurt a bit more than I expected", you blushed, letting Oscar pull your hair back so he could see it.

The red inked word was aligned with your ear, "I chose the word rare because it's a devotion to myself, my self-love - accepting that I'm not perfect and that that is okay - I love myself the way I am and it's also a lot thanks to you", you tried to keep the tears pooling on your eyes from falling, "you loved me for me, all of me, no matter how many times people liked to point out any of my tattoos or how I don't fit the 'wag role', and I want a reminder of it everyday", you smiled.

Oscar cupped your jaw gently, careful of the sore area as he kissed your lips in a hard, long, searing kiss, joining your foreheads afterwards, "I love you, Y/N, all of you", he whispered.

And the way her outburst in the Schnee dining room was immediately following Oscar saying "All of this doubt, and worry, and distrust, it isn't getting us anywhere." "Then nothing has changed! We're in the exact place we were yesterday! Fighting over what to do while the kingdom waits to die!"

And when he'd earlier said "And Ozpin is back" she pulled in her arms with a grumble, a movement which she also did the moment Oscar's music began following the PP mentioning "merging" with the tree... There is no way she isn't thinking about him there. You cannot convince me that music at that moment after that word was coincidence, you can't.

Ruby did EXACTLY what he did to her in the dojo scene by telling Blake, who was trying to cheer her up/unknowingly diminish her feelings -- to shut up /cutting her off. I always thought we'd get a Dojo Scene 2.0, but I always thought Oscar would be there when it happened.

Is anti-Latin American xenophobia as common in the Catalan Countries as it is in Spain? I think the fact we share a common oppressor is interesting but I haven't seen a lot of support for Catalan independence where I'm from, for some reason (or maybe I'm not looking in the right places?).

I can't answer this question because I don't know how common anti-Latin American xenophobia is in Spain, so I can't compare. When it comes to systemic xenophobia, it's the same, because Spain is the one who makes the laws about immigration and who can access what, so it's the same legal system.

When it comes to political matters though, it's true that Catalan politicians and public opinion often argue in favour of Latin American countries. For example, in favour of getting paid reparations for colonization, many Catalans refuse to celebrate Hispanity Day to honour colonization (Spain's national day, October 12th), and there was a huge scandal when the Spanish king refused to apologize when Mexico asked while it was praised by many in Spain including the most voted party in Spain PP. (Actually, something weird happened with that. Two of the most famous public figures in Catalonia -the comedians Òscar Andreu and Òscar Dalmau- on their late night TV show in Catalonia's TV made a song making fun of the Spanish king and saying he's an asshole who will always refuse to apologize for his ancestor's crimes. The song was sung directed to the Mexican people and basically saying "don't you know this guy is an idiot who refuses to apologize when he's wrong, a proud ignorant who will never accept reality" things like that, sang in a ranchera. And somehow -seriously, I still don't understand how, it couldn't have been any more clearly on Mexico's side- it got misunderstood in Mexico and lots of Mexican news channels talked about it as if it were making fun of Mexicans for asking for the forgiveness. When it was openly saying that not asking for forgiveness was so basic and criticised the king for not being able to do even the bare minimum. That was a weird time, I can only think that it might come from people who found it not knowing who the Oscars are and that they do humour, but even then it's still difficult to understand how they didn't understand it as being in their favour, maybe satire is difficult to translate through cultural barriers? or maybe they thought this topic is so serious it shouldn't be joked about?. Anyway, anecdote over.)

When it comes to personal bigotry, I don't think xenophobia aimed at Latin Americans is particularly present here (Moroccans, followed by Romani people and Romanians, are the people who racism is usually aimed at), or at least I've never encountered it myself, but I'm not Latin American so I'm less likely to ever have heard it than someone who could have it directed at them. The only case I can think of is one of my friends, who is originally from Bolivia, who got insulted being called a Moor once because some racist assumed she was Moroccan for her looks. But I also have two friends whose family is all Catalan and they've also been called Moors before, so I don't think this happens more to Latin Americans than locals. However, I'm sure it exists, because sadly there's bigoted people against all kinds of people.

Max coming in and seeing Charles in pretty red lipstick and high heels but nothing else snd he grins and pulls him close, kisses him hard and possessive as Charles guides him to the bedroom. Nico and him spend ages perfecting tbe nest Nico is now sprawled out in, strap already on and ready for Max! Max groaning and kissing Nico too and pps they would have so much fun! Nico definitely fucks Charles too hehe

Weekend Update 01/14/2024

Yeah, I worked this weekend. Not bad as far as weekends go.

Making a list of Pedro and Oscar shows and movies I wanna watch while I’m off for the next few days.

Going to see a movie with my Mom Tuesday. Also she wants to come over my house to watch “The Grey Man” because it has Regé-Jean Page in it. The more stuff I watch with my mom, the more is becomes apparent that I get my fangirling honestly. 🤔 Interesting. She would never say she is, but I know. Anytime they almost call security on you at a convention, you’re fangirling too hard.

You still have that pickle…can you get rid of it?

That gherkin has grown on me, but I may find something else. 👀

I put out two fics this week. One was angsty and sad? I think. 🤔 Not really sure how to describe it but I like it. It’s my first Santiago Garcia fic. Titled “Canto para mí mismo / I sing for myself.” Grief and PTSD. Not heavy at all. It will be a 4 part series.

Then I followed that up with Marcus Pike smut. I wanted to add to the Pike Pool. I had thots about Marcus and “She’s Under the Weather” was written.

I also gave two dissertations on Oscar Isaac’s facial hair and what’s the best date a PP character could surprise you with? @rhoorl and @i-own-loki game me much to think about and to write. 🤣

I’m finishing up a challenge. I may be able to finish it on time. 👀 It’s just going to smell like old pita bread and metal. Like I didn’t know what else to do with the material! The time period is messing me up. 😑

I thought of a short series for Marcus from a movie tag game I think. The thots were thotting with @magpiepills and @maggiemayhemnj so when we have an angsty sexy menace of a Marcus Pike, see these two for your concerns. 🫣

I also fell into whatever Trash Panda pillow fort Dieter has made. I’m working on chapter 4 of “Weddings 101 Dieter.” I had some notes from some comment I made about Dieter doing a solo activity that has now blossomed into smut to the music of Donna Summer. Because if you’re gonna do it, make it disco 🪩 Lastly, working on my Bubble AU where Dieter picks OFC to bunk with him to help him sleep. That’s not going to turn into anything is it? Maybe sweet, maybe manipulative, maybe smut, maybe silly 😝

I think just for @mysterious-moonstruck-musings I’ll include a pomelo in one of my future fics. Might be in the Javier Peña one we talked about or a different one. 😘 We also mentioned another project idea with different food:
