I posted two snippets of this yesterday so if you want to check my page, you can see those two and it’s a three-for-one! It’s a Matt Murdock/Frank Castle established relationship and they both want to keep Clint Barton. I know you aren’t a big poly fan so this is just Frank coaxing Clint into letting himself be cuddled. Im putting that part UNDER the line so if you don’t even want to read the poly snippet, you don’t have to see it. In exchange, I’m gonna give you a snippet from The Ripple Effect which is a Winterhawk after Steve going back in time for Peggy. I miiiight try to make it fit into Thunderbolts, we’ll see. I gotta tag @kangofu-cb though because the Vigilante snippet is a dog mention 😂

Bucky hadn’t meant it rudely. He honestly thought that Clint Barton had retired to some farm after Thanos. The Avengers stopped existing and Bucky only really talks to Sam and Shuri anymore. Steve, when he can’t avoid it somehow.

So he’d honestly been surprised to see Barton, especially here in Central Park where he’s obviously been meeting with Steve on the same Fridays that Bucky has. Maybe the ones where Bucky doesn’t meet him, too.

“Sorry,” He says quickly when Steve’s eyebrows come together in disappointment. “I didn’t mean that how that sounded. Just thought you’d retired to your wife and farm.” Bucky shifts uncomfortably as Barton sighs and hands him one of the coffee cups he’s holding.

“It was a fake,” Steve answers when Barton doesn’t seem inclined. “They’re his brother’s wife and kids. He’d been keeping them safe.”

Then Bucky puts his foot in it again because apparently once wasn’t enough, when he says, “You’re not keeping them safe anymore?” And Barton stuffs the hand not holding a coffee cup into the pocket of his tattered jeans and looks away to hide the slight twitch of his left eye. It’s barely noticeable but Bucky learned through severe torture to notice every single change in his environment. “Sorry again. None of my business.”

Barton sighs and his shoulders relax from where they’d been tensed up near his ears. Bucky’s eyes flit across them with the motion. They’re kind of ridiculous, he realizes. Bucky's already clocked him as a threat but when his eyes linger on the well muscled shoulders and obvious strain of the material around Barton’s biceps, he has a fleeting feeling that he hasn’t felt in a very, very long time. Just a flutter and then it’s gone before Bucky can actually acknowledge it.

“Nah, it’s fine, man,” Barton assures him. “Uhh…they all got snapped, my brother didn’t. He spent five years thinking about all the time he’d wasted being a deadbeat. Got his shit together - eventually. He’s taking care of them now.”

Didn’t Barton go off the deep end and murder a bunch of criminals and mob bosses for his dusted family? Bucky wants to ask, because he thought for sure that’s what Sam had told him but he’s already had both of his size eleven boots in his mouth in the last five minutes so he holds his tongue, nodding sagely like he knows fuck all about families anymore.

And the snippet from Vigilante Boyfriends:

Frank shakes his head and rolls his eyes, “I’ll scratch your head and you can tell me something boring.” He waves Clint over, rolling onto his back with the arm nearest Clint open in invitation.

“Nothing that I talk about is boring,” Clint says brashly, sitting up to stare down at Frank in mock annoyance. He hesitates, though, maybe trying to figure out what Frank’s angle is. Then he just scoots right into Frank’s arms as if he doesn’t have a care in the world.

Frank’s changed his mind, Clint’s not a cat. He’s a dog that thinks he’s a cat. Just a big goofy, dog that’s been kicked around all it’s life but still trusts that people are good somehow.

Frank wants to gather him up, keep him safe, and smother him with affection. Matt told him to take it slow though, that Clint’s been a wild animal for far longer than he was ever domesticated. If he ever was. Gotta take it slow. Like feeding any stray. Can’t push or he’ll run.

Binah rests her hands on your shoulders in a firm grip, slowly but surely guiding you to sit down on a couch. then she cups the side of your head and carefully pulls you down further, until your cheek is pressed against her legs. with a quiet hum Binah runs a hand over your hair, fingers drawing idly circles against your skin and tracing your features. she's looking down at you quietly when you shift, dark eyes filled with a faint sparkle and something warm, affectionate. she grasps your trembling hand and drapes her thick cloak over your body, pressing a kiss to your forehead without a word, as no words are needed. the weight and comfort of her presence almost leeches the anxiety from your veins, slowly, and it's replaced by a heavy exhaustion that pulls you deeply asleep, Binah's lap your most comforting pillow

your Patron's lips twitch into a small smile, and she embraces her precious birdie close to her heart

Queequeg's hands are strong yet curiously gentle when she pulls your fingers away from your face, where they were digging into your skin. she stares at you for a moment, silently, then simply picks you up and carries you to her room as if you weighed nothing. to her, with her strength, you really don't. the harpooner flumps onto her bed, setting you down carefully and ushering you to her side, pressing you close. without even thinking you bury your head in her lap, a firm hand patting your head. her body rumbles with a deep, quiet chuckle as she pulls the covers over the pair of you in a mess of limbs and thick quilts and gentle hugs. she gingerly pulls you upwards once the lightning in your nerves gradually dissipates, cradling your head against her chest instead so she can nuzzle her nose into your hair. Queequeg sighs, and it's the most relieved, comfortable sigh you've ever heard

I’ve seen so many comments trying to frame this as “the government failed so bad that they had to resort to mules and horses “ as if they were not the perfect solution to this problem.

So I haven’t really been seeing folks talk much here at all about what’s been going on with Hurricane Helene recovery- but I thought I might share something I thought was cool and important.

Because of how roads have been washed out making homes and towns inaccessible to vehicles, the Cajun Navy (organizations that performs search, rescue, and assistance during disasters) has partnered with Mountain Mule Packer Ranch to use the mules to get medications, food, and water to people in need.

I just think it’s incredible. Despite all the technology you’d think is accessible to help people out, mules are still the most reliable form of transport to save people’s lives

Kpop Demon Hunters is everything I ever wanted in a movie. Quite literally everything I love: kpop, animation, an underlying Catholic moral theme about the nature of sin, shame, and how only love can overcome hate, did I mention it’s a musical?

5 AM blogging: another female character we know little about who lives rent-free in my head is ... well, there's even less of an excuse, since she comes from a canon full of distinctive female characters.

But I've been weirdly obsessed with Lady Anne Darcy née Fitzwilliam from Pride and Prejudice for years. My first P&P fic was about her and she haunts several of my other ones in different iterations. There are even more fanciful versions of her in my head that I simply refuse to write. Someone once commented that I clearly dislike her because some of the depictions are unfavorable and it was like ... oh no, these are just some of the many ways she rotates in my head.

I mean ... do I subscribe to the idealized maternal figure version of Lady Anne that P&P fandom has often gone for? No—she was basically a good person, but I think the implication is clear that she was the more flawed and less personable of Darcy's parents.

Do I think she was opposed to her sister in perspective generally or in particular about their children's future marriage? No, I don't think there's any reason to assume so. I imagine her as smarter and kinder than Lady Catherine (Wickham is the first person to mention Lady Anne and doesn't seem to have any particular grudge against her), but by no means opposed in character or opinions. Yet she remains extremely blorbo-shaped in my mind.

There are other scraps, like ... Lady Catherine's chilly remark about daughters not being of much consequence to their fathers. What exactly was the dynamic between the late earl and Lady Anne and Lady Catherine? :\

And both sisters married into quite similar sort of families (not peers but influential old money grand landowners), which inclines me to think the Fitzwilliams were after something there rather than that they were grand romances. Lady Catherine seized control of her life and everyone else's in her vicinity. What did Lady Anne do? Who knows?

These are scraps from a very few offhand statements. Lady Anne is barely mentioned in P&P and we can only piece together a few scarce hints some time after her death (we have no idea how much time) while nearly everyone who knew her and the late Mr Darcy praises her personable, benevolent, kindly husband to the skies. And what little we know suggests IMO that she was ... a messy figure, let's say.

But honestly, I find him annoying and Lady Anne immensely lovable. I don't know!

Please don’t compare yourself to my blog because I only mostly show the highlights. And just because I reblog something about studying languages doesn’t mean I’ve actually done much that day!

There’s nothing wrong with taking it slow and enjoying the language! We’re all here to learn because we want to. There’s no pressure to learn quickly. Learning a language is a lifelong journey, and there’s no rush to fluency. Whatever amount you’re doing, it’s okay and you’re welcome on this blog :-)

Put on the soundtrack for Mary Poppins this morning and had a great conversation with the kids about suffragettes and why they even needed to exist. Perfect breakfast conversation for a few five year old boys 😂

Put on Mary Poppins for the kids and gosh, do I just love how Winifred Banks is a suffragette and how gleefully excited she gets about her and her suffragette sisters going to go throw things at the Prime Minister.

Well done, sister suffragette!
