green house hokkien mee 青屋蝦麵, georgetown, penang.
it’s one of the popular spot to get penang hokkien mee or prawn mee. they have many kinds of noodles to choose from and two kinds of broth - prawn broth and the thick broth. also quite a lot of addons available to customize your bowl of noodles. i like to mix both the broth to get the best of both worlds.
the prawn broth is very fragrant with nice prawn smell, and the thick broth adds texture which make it so appetizing and yummy. we also ordered lobak as appetizer which taste great too. this would be one of the original hawker food that still taste as good as i remembered.

7 Floor
I would like to cheer ANY Malaysia restaurant which tries to set up in London. There are just too few genuine articles around.  I will even take the monumental step (for me) of not making fun of this restaurant’s name, even if it “7 Floor”.
This is why I found myself in Peckham, somewhere I would normally not be in.  That’s just because it is fairly out of the way for me, not for any other reasons.  Here, the proliferation of Market Hall means that it is trying to cater for the South East Asian food segment.  There was bubble tea across the hall from 7 Floor, some Vietnamese pho shop a few doors down and a Japanese ramen kitchen a bit further on.  Turning to the food at 7 Floor, you turn up, collect your number and then collect it on the bell and bring it to the communal dining area.  Charm, this place does not have.
Chicken hor fun, deliciously delicate flat rice noodles served with shredded chicken and chicken and prawn broth.  Ignore the presentation and the packaging for a moment.  The noodles were excellent.  The soup was great.  Sadly, the toppings were sparse and rather boring.  The chicken tasted a bit like boiled or perhaps microwaved chicken breasts.  The spring onions and bean sprouts were a bit lackluster.  Together, they lacked any real add value.
Prawn mee, gently simmered flavour packed prawn stock with a bit of heat, served with shredded chicken, fresh prawns and springy yellow noodles.  The noodles were not as good as the hor fun but they still made me happy.  This could have been great but it is a little miserly when you cut so small prawns in half to make them look like they are twice what they really are.  I know inflation is biting but it is biting the eaters too.
Chee cheong fun, plain rice noodles in a sweet sauce with sesame seeds.  This was probably the best dish of the day, as it didn’t have (sparse) toppings to detract attention from the quality of the noodles.  Sweet, bouncy, succulent, this cheong fun was a thing of joy.  In the sweet sauce, even more so, allowing the unadulterated flavour to shine through.
I really wanted to give them a higher score.  Good Malaysian noodles like this deserve to be rewarded.  However, being a bit too cheap sometimes can do you in.  Here I must add one small comment as I have been holding this in this entire time.  Perhaps a better name for the restaurant might be Bargain Basement, on account of the stingy topping portions, rather than 7 floor.  Seems to be a long way up till then.
  A quiet eating 7/10.
Dinner was (1.5 dishes) was GBP15 excluding drinks and service.

Saw the advertisement on television promoting the bundle deal of three dishes by Tun Xiang Hokkien Delights (豚香福建馆). Thought that it was a good deal plus the fact I have not been to the place yet. Dragged mum along to Northpoint City mall on a hot weekend afternoon since I couldn't possibly finish the set meal alone.
Tumblr media
Upon seated, the wait staff informed us that you can scan the QR code on the table to access the digital menu plus order. Placed ordered for the Bundled Deal (S$28.80++) consisting of the Signature Hokkien Mee, Iberico Pork Fried Beancurd and White Pepper Collagen Pig Stomach Soup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Signature Hokkien Mee (招牌黑猪福建面) came with a mixture of yellow noodles and bee hoon (rice vermicelli) served over banana leaf. At a glance, one can spot prawns, squids, matchstick sized pork and plenty of deep-fried pork lards soaked in the gravy. While the overall taste is decent, the flavour profile of the prawn is not pronounced enough like they didn’t use enough prawn heads and shells to render out the prawn oil.
Tumblr media
Both of us enjoyed the Iberico Pork Fried Beancurd (酥炸黑猪酿卜) a lot. The minced pork is well seasoned and stuffed into fried bean curd puffs before going into hot oil. The puff outside is crispy while the meat is juicy. Remember to dip the whole thing into the sweet thick sauce for the complete package before devouring it.
Tumblr media
Was reminded that the White Pepper Collagen Pig Stomach Soup (胶原胡椒猪肚汤) is hot when it was served. It came with thinly sliced Iberico pork, tripe, fish maw and garnished with coriander and chilli. Taking a sip of the soup, I can detect the stickiness of the collagen on the lips and the spiciness of peppercorns though I would have enjoyed a stronger peppery taste. Both the tripe and pork were tender enough but the fish maw needs a longer cooking time to get to the softer texture I preferred.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I enjoyed the meal, mum is a lot harder to please. She claims that the noodles look like last night leftover and other than the fried bean curd, I don’t think she like the other two dishes.

DanHeng HCs (SFW)
Tumblr media
TW: slight mention of anti renheng
A/N: I'll do nsfw headcanons next if I get 69 likes
Tumblr media
Food headcanons for him
Favourite food probably soup pan mee (汤板面), kung pao chicken (宫保鸡) and idk the English name for this dish but it's 马来风光
Favourite tea probably the classic chrysanthemum tea (菊花茶)
Has a bit of shrimp/prawn allergy but he still eats them like a champ🔥
I totally did not say those would be his favourites because those are my favourites
The only food he'll ever know how to cook are instant noodles. Take it out the package, chuck the stuff into a pot of water then boil it.
Tumblr media
Miscellaneous
He probably speaks Fujian or Guangdong? idk he seems like the type to... or maybe mix mix ah...
He would be born in the year of dragon because... because... 😁
He would have muscles but it's not really visible, just slightly.
He got the unspoken and oblivious rizz🔥
He gives such strong Aro-ace vibes but I think of him as a heterosexual.
Please do not claim that he is gay for Blade or mention Renheng, it's an incestuous and a proship. Dan heng's information tab in game stated that he is running from his kin/blood relative which is Blade.
Tumblr media
When he's in a relationship with you though...
He would love cuddles but wouldn't admit it
Typa guy to be cold in the beginning but he'll warm up eventually
He would buy you gifts but he would just leave them on your bed or table, sometimes would tell you that he bought you stuff
He would give you a forehead kiss whenever you're about to go to sleep
Not the one for PDA (public display of affection) but still shy in private, once he warms up to you, he would be touchy and sometimes clingy
Whenever you wake up in the morning, you can't get out of bed because of how clingy he is when you try to get out of bed. He seems to can't get enough of your comforting, addicting warmth
Wanna get out bed for work? Nuh uh.
Wanna get out of bed for breakfast? Nuh uh.
He would bury his face into your chest and say "nuh uh" whenever you wanna get out 💀
Tumblr media
Idk what else to headcanon Dan Heng anymore so this will end here for now, follow or ask me to tag you in the nsfw part \('ш')/
Until next time!!

BAHAHAHA oh no I should've expected I'd lose this argument T.T
The "58 years oredi independent from us STILL no food of ur own?? must share share steal steal ah?" HITS ESPECIALLY HARD.
Creativity is not our strongsuit ok.
Copy correct answer is what we're good at.
Hokkien mee is MUSHY. "nuff said.
Also yeah, fried mantou is my fave, even though it usually means I can't eat any of the actual expensive dishes that were ordered cos no more space in my stomach. (Hehe, low maintenance).
But yeah BOO now we are at WAR and that's why I ignored you for so long until I finally decided to LOVE MY ENEMIES! (Jk I just saved this message as a draft and forgot to send it heh.)
P.S. yeah, there was a Shay BKT scene. Maybe I'll dig it up some day and share it.

Places to be 🇸🇬
Avengers x Reader (Headcanon)
A/N: Super self-indulgent but much pride 💕 I would do a few avengers first to see how it goes and the reception? PG-13
Notes: How I think the Avengers would enjoy the little red dot😬 And lemme put it out there first, I’m writing food you can find in Singapore! Not trying to gatekeep where food originates from!
***
Shangqi
He would adapt the best given his heritage.
Forget touristy traps, he’s going to the mecca of all food places. The hawker centers!
Credit: Shunfu Hawker Centre
Tumblr media
He almost snaps his neck trying to see what to eat. In the end, he settles for a little of everything.
His favorite is prawn noodles though. Oh… the broth…🤤

Tumblr media
Stephen Strange
The National Museum of Singapore!
Tumblr media
He would appreciate the photographs and stories of immigrants and veterans that fought to make what the country was today.
He would get brochure and maybe even read up beforehand before coming to enhance the experience.
After the tour, he goes to grab some snacks to munch on while reading more on the history. Who could resist Kaya Balls?
Tumblr media
Peter Parker
Cycling!
The Green Corridor is a route approximately stretching 20km/12 miles from residential areas to the city.
Tumblr media
It’s mostly just fauna for most of the ride but he loves the feeling of whizzing by without any traffic lights and nature itself! He could use some tranquility in his life for once.
He ends of the ride outside City Hall, before scampering up to try the famous fish noodles with milk! Don’t forget the fried egg (on top left)!
Credit: Chai’s Original Sliced Fish Soup @ City Hall
Tumblr media
Thor
This man can drink in case you didn’t know.
He’ll do great at Clark Quay, an area to catch up and let your hair down.
Tumblr media
In his case? Literally. The people love him though, they’ve seen him on international news. A few even ask to take photos with him and he happily obliges.
But it takes three Avengers to drag him back to the hotel. Maybe four if you count Loki who doesn’t know what he’s doing there when he could be at the museum with Stephen.
Clint being the team’s unofficial dad begrudgingly goes out to the Hawker Center to grab some Lotus Soup the next day to cure his hangover. Don’t forget the rice - like don’t.
Tumblr media
A/N: I drooled while trying to come up with this short headcanon🤤 Also, I hope it’s ok! Little nervous so will be grateful to see/hear how it goes!

Normally mum will be out to Chong Pang for breakfast but today she stayed home to whip up this Fried Kway Teow Mee (炒粿條面) or in English means fried rice cake strips (flat rice noodles) and yellow noodles. In it she added minced pork, omelette, prawns and bean sprouts. For garnishing and added flavours, chopped spring onions and parsley. I also scooped a leftover dish of Stewed Dried Bamboo Shoots to go with the stir-fried noodles. Simple yet delicious meal to start the day.
