Okay so! Info! Summoning animals will be an option in Mata Aetara. However, not until a later part. I haven't decided how much later, but it won't be at the beginning when mc is 13/14. I feel like this SOL Prey!Naruto family is set in stone to be a thing at this point, lmao. I'm certainly sold on it. I won't say whether or not I plan on Hinata getting knocked up in Prey, ya'll will have to wait and find out but I definitely think this should be a full SOL fic at this point, lol. ok, i'm not really experienced in writing yandere stories, but i did read quite a few.

and yeah, sure: the brooding, aloof, silent characters being yandere are scary as hell. but have you ever thought about the sunshine ones acting possessive and insane?

like those happy, goofy, talkative characters that are all smiles and super social, and that you'd never expect becoming batshit crazy in a flick of a switch, because they're so pleasant to be around?

but that's exactly the problem. they just feel everything so strongly, even the negative emotions. and being hyperemotional can certainly cause trouble, if you're having an unhealthy hyperfixation on somebody.

like, i can just see kiba laughing with you one second, and then the next - he's smashing your ankles with a baseball bat, screaming at the top of his lungs that you made him do it, because you've mentioned that naruto had walked you home after class or some shit.

his brain just glitches because of his short temper and the fact that he's always second best and the second choice for everybody; even for you, it seems.

and as you're screaming and crying in pain, he's apologizing, telling you that it's your fault but that he's sorry for it, that he's so, so sorry. that he'll never do it again, that you need to forgive him, or else he won't be able to live with himself.

oh, and the fact that he'd be able to track your scent anywhere you'd go? whoever you'd hang out with? that he's into the entire chase; the predator/prey type of beat?

Dissecting Red Spider Arc-The arc that non shipper find it disturbingly (For those who mind) Shippy

I’ve been watching gintama for the past couple of weeks. And since lately I encounter sleeping problem, lets turn this energy to talk about one of my favorite arc. The controversial arc that invite polarized opinion among Gintama fans.

For  Tsukuyo fans, Red spider is a certain favorite together with Yoshiwara in flame and Courtesan of the nation.  This arc fleshed her background and deepen her bond with yorozuya, especially Gintoki

For casual fans, this arc is the first time they see a glimpse of gintoki past, The first time  gintoki in a berserk mode, the first time he act by his own volition. And somehow he appeared like a true shonen hero saving the heroine.

By then tsukuyo was far from heroine status. She just recently introduced a couple episodes back. Yoshiwara in flame focused more on Hinowa and seita story. But Tsukuyo already  rose in ranking because her unique character design (in sacchan word, she has a lot of ‘hooks’) aside being badass in general.

For naysayers, Red spider arc is that arc that destroy Tsukuyo character. Reduced her into damsel in distress, mere love interest and what not. Of course its people’s right to interpret a work however they see fit. People enjoying entertainment in a different way afterall. Maybe they are a strict feminist type who wanted a true xena like character?  disappointed when a strong female charachter ended up saved by the male hero? (Tho I wonder why they don’t care with preceeding events where Tsukuyo saved gintoki a couple of time)  

The other would say this arc is such a big jump from previous arcs. A sudden transition they would say. And heck they’re right. Red spider arc  Is different compared to other serious arc before it.  Its lustrously dark, whispery,  not much emphasis on family nor comedy, not much explosion nor machismo.

And more importantly, its uncharacteristically Intimate.  

What do you expect? It took placein Yoshiwara-The Red light District- afterall.

The curtain raised with Jiraiya, the ex teacher of Tsukuyo, the main villain of this arc, On his post coital glow pondering about his object of creation. After enjoying the service of yoshiwara, He looked at the moon and probably feeling another rush of excitement reminiscing his dear beautiful student and the plan he’d set for her.

Not long after, Tsukuyo feel someone dangerous infiltrating her city. She and her Hyakka squad has been working hard to push down the crime that on the rise after the city lost its night king. Nearing their limit, she turned to Yorozuya, wondering if they can help with the drug problem.

Somehow, Tsukuyo and Gintoki teamed up just the two of them investigating the shady group with spider tattoo trademark. The result was assortment of classic romantic comedy skit : To-Love-Ru type of ‘accident’ and pretend couple.

Ok at this point its just natural that people start to see the two as potential couple. When they bicker they’d scream their heart silly, forgetting  whatever  adult persona they had in mind. Yet when the time come, they play along really well with the others bullshit act. They are on the same frequency already.

Back to the story, Later, they found out the drug lord is Jiraiya who apparently the long dead master (teacher who take care of  protegee under their wing) of Tsukuyo. With his unique ability he nearly killed Gintoki and captured Tsukuyo.

Some Naysayers disappointed at this point because Tsukuyo who supposedly a good fighter became useless in front of jiraiya. Ok let me use this opportunity to explain the technicality of how that’s possible.

She was shocked.

It was a surprise attack

Jiraiya, knew his student fighting ability the best and knew how to immobilize her.

Even Gintoki Almost killed because of his weird technique

She used the last of her strength to saved gintoki from jiraiya’s final blow.

“Huh? But gintoki didn’t turned into a useless mess when he met his long dead master alive?”

Lol what are you smoking? The old master  would split gintoki’s head from his body if not because Kagura’s help.  Also Utsuro/Shouyo goal was to crushed the rebels and nothing to do with Gintoki. While Jiraiya’s goal was to capture Tsukuyo. Understand the difference?  

Ok now that its out of my system lets continue.

Later Gintoki learned about the nature of Jiraiya and what this student-master relationship actually are from Zenzou. She-who believed every word of him and followed his foot step- was his creation and his prey at the same time. This method is sickening for Gintoki who loved his master to death.

For Gintoki a master should be more or less like shoyo. Strong, kind, wise and selfless. The kind of sage who gave his life for his student. Its infuriating to learn that a good women like tsukuyo has a psychotic monster as a master.

“see..Its not because of Tsukuyo that gintoki willingly revert to his shiroyasa self. Its because the master-student thingie that made him mad af”

Was the stuff I read from naysayers.  And for this one, I kinda agree. The main thing that infuriate gintoki about Jiraiya was that he used  master student relationship for some psychotic goal. As we know later, whenever topic about his own master brought on, Gintoki turned into a different beast.

Even I can see this arc’s intent beside telling tsukuyo’s past and cementing her as one of the recurrent character was also to foreshadow  Shoyo related arcs in the future.

However among all of that baggage brought by this arc, theres this one dialogue that caught my attention.

G : "give up already, theres nothing in your web. This entire time there was only a pathetic little spider spinning thread into sky while gazing at distant moon"

J : "What are you babbling about?I already knew that long ago"

The ones who ascociate Tsukuyo with the moon are the one who cherish her like hinowa and the hyakka squad  or the bastard who obsessed at her like Jiraiya. It’s a secret nickname people gave to her beside Shinigami Tayuu / courtesan of death. Wt  

At that  moment, Gintoki  speak about what Tsukuyo is to Jiraiya existence : A moon to a little insignificant spider. This confirm that Gintoki understand Tsukuyo’s epithet-wich means at that point of story he is familiar toward  Tsukuyo more than the viewers aware of.

To add, This is probably just me but the way he said that stuff about Jiraiya, whispering  while gazing at the sky, as if its applied to him aswell.  

Well, I just think that because throughout the fight he keep rambling about being on the same level as Jiraiya.

G: Do you know how to survive the spider nest? By eating the spider.

G : She is stronger than you ever be. A coward like me is enough for a coward like you

To Fight Jiraiya, Gintoki  drew parrarel between himself and Jiraiya. And its not impossible that parrarel extended until that moment.    

I  came to the conclusion At that moment Gintoki  already  admire Tsukuyo. Wether  her virtue, her  face, her quirk  or her phisycal attractiveness, it could be anything. The fact is Tsukuyo basically embodies everything gintoki like in a women.   

However because of his mindset and his self sabotaging lifestyle, he understood Jiraiya’s point of view of admiring an existence that is too good for them.

The episode ended with Tsukuyo learning his master’s past  and accepting his flaw after killing him. The moment when Gintoki implied that he would never be a good student to their master as tsukuyo is pretty touching too.

The last episode of this arc is a short one with majorly comedic skits. Another To Love Ru accident. And  a classic wingman setup to force a couple to be alone together.

Lol too much couply stuff happening in this arc.

Later after the crazy terminator drunken stupor, Tsukuyo asked gintoki if she didn’t has this scar, would her life be any different?

At this point I realize the pain endured by her, even though she said she was fine, physically and mentally, she actually struggling with the realization that all her past was something different than she perceived to be, that rather than genuine student master relationship, its an elaborate plan by her master to kill himself.

Its like realizing that we are adopted after all this time living in a loving family. From the surface it might not changed anything because its all in the past, But it changed everything within. It changed the foundation  of what we stood upon all these time.

Gintoki then assured her that her life is one that she choose, No one make her choose that. wether it’s  driven by a psychotic manipulation or a trust in a teacher who wanted make her strong. The life is still hers to behold and cherish

Gintoki further assured that her face Is not ugly, Its pretty face carrying clean soul. Or something to that effect (since translation vary)

As you see “Soul” is the overarching concept on Gintama. Its like “Adventure” on One piece and “Hard Work” On Naruto. It’s the Idea that the shounen protagonist holds dear.  

Shoyo first teaching to Gintoki was  how to protect his soul. In the war Gintoki choose to kill Shoyo to save his master’s soul. Means he choose Shoyo over his friends and himself. In effect, one of the friend’s soul was corrupted. While Gintoki turned himself into a vessel  whose purpose was merely to protect people he deemed fit and procasinating on his own growth.

Gintoki speak about Tsukuyo’s soul in her face is another testament of how deep their trust and bond has formed. 

Even though Gintoki has innate ability to peek into the human character, its not his fashion to directly address it. He usually find a roundabout way to make the others understand that they are being understood. But with Tsukuyo, everything he do about her  is direct.

“Don’t be a stranger, Lean on me, laugh with me and cry with me. I’d be there, cry and laugh with you ” Said Gintoki to tsukuyo.

 The Gintoki who often avoid emotional baggage from a stranger.

In conclusion, Red Spider Arc is such an awesome arc. The vibe is cool, the soundtrack is awesome and its has an intense emotionally charged action.

It is also the breeding ground for gintsu shipper, wich probably gonna make some part of fandom upset. But it is what it is and we can just enjoy or choose not to.

Warnings for, ah, crazy person in a highly unstable friendship circle that involves rich kids, cops, hacktivists and a wannabe cult member. Also, high AU vibes so don’t expect any of this to transfer back to my Naruto fan fic, A Song for Them— Welp. Enjoy?

They came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the quad, halfway to their next class. Around them, her volume drew curious looks from loiterers on the grass and a couple jealous glares from a few female students after they recognized whom she had been yelling at.

Itachi gently removed the rude finger stabbing into his chest.

"As usual, you are being melodramatic.” he said, tone as flat as the cement they were standing on. He idly bushed off the front of shirt, voice lowering. “And please, stop shouting. You are making a scene."

Sora huffed in annoyance, sassily cocking out her hip and planting a hand on it. “Look at me,” she replied. He did not feel it would be appreciated to point out that he was already looking at her. “Do I look like I give even one damn? Let everyone and their mother look on because I am not — repeat: NOT going to concede this argument to you, ya bastard.”

Flipping her long strawberry hair over her shoulder, she stood resolute in her billowy blue blouse and met his blank onyx stare with a violet-eyed glare.

"I will fight you over this."

His brow furrowed the slightest bit in exasperation. "There is no need for confrontation, Sora-san. You simply mistook the meaning of my words."

"Like hell I did! You clearly implied that your broody Duck of brother is cuter than my Hero! Which, is insane! Borderline institutional! You obviously need a better prescription for those things!" she snapped, waving a hand at the sleek glasses perched on the bridge of his nose.

"I never mentioned the word 'cute'…" he protested weakly, a faint frown pulling at the corners of his mouth. But he straightened his back, remaining composed as ever. "That being said, I feel compelled to point out that you are speaking from a heavily biased point of view. The fact is, neither one of us will be able to come to a clear and fair judgment in this debate. It is best to simply agree to disagree about this particular subject."

Itachi had made a reasonable point. It was too bad he was dealing with an unreasonable person.

"It's not up for debate," she reiterated, cracking her knuckles. "I warned you — now bring it, long-hair.”

Itachi could not bring it for a number of reasons, the prime and probably most relevant reason being; he was currently holding her textbooks. While he stored his books away neatly into a messenger bag sitting on his shoulder, Sora had shoved all of hers into his arms the moment she had come across him earlier that morning. He did not protest because of their shared history, and because his Mother had raised him to be a gentleman sensitive to a lady's needs.

Though, how many would consider Sora to be a 'Lady' remains to be seen…

"Oh, look," Itachi deflected with a monotone drawl. "There is Deidara. He's waving at us."

Deidara was, in fact, not waving at them. He had actually spotted the pair of them a minute before and ducked his head and began walking faster, trying very hard not to be seen by a certain violet-eyed terror.

Today was not his lucky day, however.

Sora's head had whipped around like a bloodhound on the scent of her prey, eyes scanning the nearby faces for a head of shiny blonde hair.

"Deidei? I need to talk to him! Where is that blonde bombshell — I wanted his opinion on my Independent Arts project before I show it to Professor Sasori. He would know exactly how much flour I can add before things get too combustible — Oh! There he is! DEI-DEIIII!"

Deidara cursed and began to run across the quad, in the opposite direction.

"Damn it," Sora groaned, pulling off her heels. She set the shoes on top of the books Itachi was holding and pouted up at him, looking to all the world like she was the one being inconvenienced. "I hate it when they run."

Directly after saying that, Sora had broken into a full-sprint after their mutual acquaintance, long skirt whipping behind her. Itachi watched with detached amusement as Deidara, clad in probably too much leather, began to flag as his stamina depleted. Sora, much more used to the physical exertion, was steadily catching up with him right up until — ah. She caught him. The Numerology club loitering nearby let out a cheer as she tackled him into the grass, pinning him down.

Itachi's lips twitched up slightly.

"GET OFF ME! I'M BEING—UGH—ASSAULTED, YEAH!"

"YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE RUN IN THE FIRST PLACE!" she retorted, grabbing his wrists with one hand. "OR GET BETTER AT IT!"

With a barely perceptible sigh, Itachi made his way over to them as they began to wrestle on the grass, exchanging elbows and insults. He didn't want to have to deal with campus security if someone made another complaint against them for indecent behavior in a public setting.

And, he was getting tired of holding Sora's things.

AU where the Nara are eldricht horrors.

There's no dramatic backstory : the first Nara, who at the time didn't have any name that we could pronounce, was dimension-hopping, stumbled upon the Ninja world and decided that they liked it here. So they stayed. That's it.

After centuries in this world, the Naras are very very good at faking being human. There's still something unsettlingly wrong about them, but they can't help it and most of the humans think it's because they manipulate shadows (which is in itself not wrong), and most ninjas tend to not notice it since most of them are used to dark auras. That's a game for Nara children : who can be the better human. The Naras don't exactly have "kids", the kids are just young eldritch horrors who are barely a century old and were interested by the Ninja world, so they decided to come here. There's not really any outsiders, for obvious reasons. The Naras that "married in" are just others eldritch horrors (but older than the ones that play kids) that were also interested by this world. They obviously change their appearance, not only to look human but also to look like they grow up and become old. When a Nara becomes too "old" to continue their human life, they fake their death and come back with a slightly changed appearance as a "cousin". They all look the same because they're the same people each generation. Most of them are ninjas because that's a very interesting thing to be but some of them are actually curious of the normal civilian life. The ones that chose to live like a civilian usually become the cryptid of their neighborhood. The young Naras are costantly napping because restraining their true form is actually tiring. The older ones handle it better but also nap to establish the reputation of a lazy clan, so their young actually have an excuse to always nap : "it's a Nara thing" and nobody asks questions. (also they're all agender/genderless because they don't get gender, what the fuck is gender, they just choose the physical appearance that they like. Some of them change appearance from time to time when they feel like it so I guess they're something-fluid? I was gonna say genderfluid but they still don't get what gender is they just take whatever form they like)

They're still very not human and tend to do some little non-human things - not on purpose and not enough to people to know that they're not human but it's here. Like not blinking for several minutes - they tend to close their eyes while talking to people so they don't notice that. Or looking at things or people with a disturbingly intense gaze - it makes people feel like prey, which... They are. Technically. Or blending in the shadows - that one they can use their shadow manipulation as an explanation. Or having too dark eyes or too many sharp teeth - ninjas tend to not notice these ones because a lot of ninjas look weird.

The only ones to know what the Naras are are the Akimichi and Yamanaka clan. Their centuries-long friendship comes from the fact that the first Nara learned how to act human from the first Akimichi and Yamanaka, who were maybe stilghtly crazy at the time so not so phased by a eldritch horror. Said eldricht horror was grateful and decided that their clans would be allies, and the Akimichi and Yamanaka had no reason to refuse, so... The kids are told the Nara's secret as soon as they're old enough to understand it and not say it to anyone.

The Naras have a weird relationship with the Inuzukas : on one hand, they're much more sensitive (and animals) than most ninjas so most of them feel the wrongness of the Naras much more sharply than anyone else, but they also understand what it is to be not completely human. The Inuzukas don't really know what the Naras are, but they won't tell anyone. They have a sort of understanding : the Naras know that the Inuzukas know there's something wrong with them, but they're thankful that they don't tell anyone. Some of the Inuzukas are actually very good friends with the Naras because they get their non-human side : with those Inuzukas, the Naras don't have to perfectly imitate a human and can let go a bit (like by not blinking for an hour). It's a weird sort of friendship (because half of the Inuzuka clan is absolutely terrified by the Nara) but it works.

The Akimichi and Yamanaka as a whole are mostly desensitized to the Dark and Wrong aura that the Nara have : some of them can even witness their true forms without losing their mind. Ino and Choji don't even notice when Shikamaru does something very not human, like not blink for several minutes. They're used to it and are actually fond of it. Sometimes when Shikamaru doesn't wants to walk he slips onto their shadow and for someone else such a foreign presence might feel weird, like there was something big and dark looking at you, but not to Ino and Choji : they've done this so many times the weight of Shikamaru in their shadows feels like a weighted blanket.

Shikamaru's and Kiba's relationship is as weird as any friendship between a Nara and a Inuzuka is. Kiba's animal side is not afraid of Shikamaru, by exposure : he's used to Shikamaru's wrongness. Akamaru took years to not bark at Shikamaru but it's better by the time they graduate. They bond over sometimes not understanding human things (which Shikamaru can't do with Ino or Choji) and eating their meat raw and kinda grossly because sharp teeth and the SMELLS, Shika, did you smell that??? What the fuck is this perfume??? I know, Kiba, It stinks. Troublesome. They aren't best friends, but they get each other in a way that only their clans can.

Honestly I was thinking about the Naras adopting Naruto in this. They would feel there's something wrong with him (Kurama isn't exactly wrong the way eldritch horrors are, but at the time his Chakra was very dark and angry so) and go "!". So they adopt him unofficially. Maybe he grows up raised by Shikaku and Yoshino, as Shikamaru's brother (I just love to imagine them brothers : they're so opposites it's just perfect). And he gets that there's something wrong with his clan (when he's old enough to not tell anyone they tell him what they are) but he doesn't feels bad or uneasy (because of Kurama, whose Chakra is the closest of an eldtch horror as possible without being one). He thinks that it's super cool that his family are dark monsters! A bit creepy, but the cool kind of creepy! Also he wouldn't be bullied by the people in the village since he'd be protected by the Naras. Overall, he'd have a way better childhood, a family and maybe become a bit weird himself, because you can't grow up with the Naras and not be weird.

And number 96. Be a hero or a villain? Hmmm I guess I'd want to be like Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey. She went from being a villain and total doormat to Joker to being her own badass kinda hero with a bunch of other women and getting back at ol Clown Boy.😁😎 So yeah a hero who isn't perfect but is trying and does save the day in their own way.

Other than ATLA, what are some of the best animation you’ve seen?

Animation? (fluidity of movement) or animated shows? I can do both since they’re often intertwined. Fair warning, almost all of this will be anime because western animation hasn’t produced a single interesting, compelling story since ATLA so…

So I’ll start with season 1& 2 (ONLY) of YJ 

The animation is actually not great (save for specific scenes), and the story has issues, but overall, it was engaging and interesting enough to hold me through all 2 seasons and hoping for more (and getting it, and then deeply, deeply regretting it).

 Noragami/Noragami Aragoto 

I tend to favour season 1 to season 2 (mostly because I find Bishamon intensely annoying), but I like the simplicity of each season, while sprinking it with a larger picture (Yato’s origin, who is Yato’s father, what’s the overall scheme behind all these little issues), and the animation and backgrounds (as usual) is quite beautiful. It’s also kinda funny too. 

Attack on Titan

I’d be remiss not to include this. The story is a little convoluted for me, and their execution leaves me confused for most of the season until the last few episodes where I’m like…ooooooooooh. But the animation is…fucking incredible and it’s such a great example of stakes. People die, and they die all the time. Characters you like, characters you started to like, characters you hated, characters you didn’t know. But the reality of this world means that anyone could go at any time, and the rules keep changing as they learn more about the real world they actually inhabit, so it leaves you feeling pretty stressed, and I appreciate that. 

Gangsta

Really short, one season. Not a huge fan of some of the slang in the dub, but I overall like a lot of the ideas. The soundtrack is sick and the animation is strong enough for the type of show. It’s grittier than your usual anime and I would have liked to see where they took a second season. I like to rewatch it every now and again. 

My Hero Academia

This show has…A LOT of fucking filler episodes and it gets on my NERVES. But when they get down to business, it can get pretty dark, the consequences can actually be pretty severe, and it can move beyond the typical, annoying type of shounen anime (looking at you Naruto, One Piece, DBZ), and while I think Deku can be an idiot, he’s a really earnest male character fighting to become a better hero and filling some pretty big shoes, and he’s always learning. I respect that. Also the fight scenes are   r i d i c u l o u s. 

Enen no shoubutai 

So, I recently returned to this anime because I forgot I only watched the first half. It falls prey to a lot of the pitfalls of modern anime; gratuitous female nudity, fillers, over earnest to the point of stupidity main character, but in the overall context of the show, I enjoyed it well enough. It didn’t rock my world, but the animation is crazy, and I actually really enjoy the art direction and design choices for certain scenes that really made me take notice of it. It kinda drops the ball on a few story points, but I definitely enjoyed this. 

Yuri On Ice

I remember the first time I saw this anime, I kept rewatching the opening sequence because the animation is…utterly beautiful. When training to animate in school, they made it seem like the level of detail and loose style they created here in the intro was impossible to keep track of while animating, and this so beautifully blows that theory out of the water. They do reuse quite a bit and cut off the the feet where necessary, but I understand all the choices, especially based on time restrictions, and they manage to balance it all so wonderfully across the entire season that I have absolutely no complaints (except where the FUCK is my season 2?!?!? Or even the movie!?!?!?!? Anyone?!!?! Bueller!??!?!? And maybe the awful shoehorned emotional incest sideplot. Japan can we dead this? PLEASE?). The dub is tragic, but the story is simple and adorable and beautiful and it’s honestly one of my favourite anime *ever*.  

Samurai Champloo 

This is basically like, a “classical” anime in the sense that, if you’re getting into anime, it’s likely one of the top 5 suggestions people will give on where to start. It’s funny, fun and fairly subversive (still) and the soundtrack absolutely SLAPS. The animation is perfect for the style of the show, very simple, but not choppy. Smooth, and simple and they invest a lot into the fight sequences. This is always a rewatch fave.
