The thing that gets me about people saying that we don't know what d'Eon's pronouns were is that we actually have much better information on her pronouns than we do for most historical figures.

Take Princess Seraphina for example. Most of what we know about Seraphina comes from the trial of Thomas Gordon (5 July 1732). In the trial some witnesses who knew Seraphina use she/her pronouns. For example this is how Mary Poplet talks about the Princess:

I have known her Highness a pretty while, she us’d to come to my House from Mr. Tull, to enquire after some Gentlemen of no very good Character; I have seen her several times in Women’s Cloaths, she commonly us’d to wear a white Gown, and a scarlet Cloak, with her Hair frizzled and curl’d all round her Forehead; and then she would so flutter her Fan, and make such fine Curties, that you would not have known her from a Woman: She takes great Delight in Balls and Masquerades, and always chuses to appear at them in a Female Dress, that she may have the Satisfaction of dancing with fine Gentlemen. Her Highness lives with Mr. Tull in Eagle-Court in the Strand, and calls him her Master, because she was Nurse to him and his Wife when they were both in a Salivation; but the Princess is rather Mr. Tull’s Friend, than his domestick Servant. I never heard that she had any other Name than the Princess Sraphina.

However others use he/him pronouns, this is how Mary Robinson talks about Seraphina:

I was trying on a Suit of Red Damask at my Mantua-maker’s in the Strand, when the Princess Seraphina came up, and told me the Suit look’d mighty pretty. I wish, says he, you would lend ‘em me for a Night, to go to Mrs. Green’s in Nottingham-Court, by the Seven Dials, for I am to meet some fine Gentlemen there. Why, says I, can’t Mrs. Green furnish you? Yes, says he, she lends me a Velvet Scarf and a Gold Watch sometimes. He used to be but meanly dress’d, as to Men’s Cloaths, but he came lately to my Mantua-maker’s, in a handsome Black Suit, to invite a Gentlewoman to drink Tea with Mrs. Tull. I ask’d him how he came to be so well Rigg’d? And he told me his Mother had lately sold the Reversion of a House; And now, says he, I’ll go and take a Walk in the Park, and shew my self. 

So what do we make of this? Did Seraphina use both he/him and she/her pronouns or is Robinson misgendering Seraphina? This is an issue we unfortunately have when talking about queer people we have very little information on. We can guess at the answer but we can't know for sure.

But with d'Eon not only do we know that her friends, family and most of the English public used she/her pronouns for her but we even have examples of d'Eon using she/her pronouns for herself when writing in third person. This is probably the best evidence we are ever going to get for someone of this period. It's an amazingly clear source for the pronoun question. Like wow there's the answer right there in ink on paper.

Hello hello everyone I'm back at it again at Krispy Kreme- I mean my Mariolore AU silliness and I have with me today the Lineage of the Queens of the Mushroom Kingdom. The line of Queens will range from Dove all the way into the future/modern era to the princess that will one day become Queen. Without further ado let us begin with Queen Dove herself :3

Queen Dove was indeed "Beloved by the Realm" as her gentle spirit had managed to tame her husband King Boo known as the "Tyrant King". Dove was also a devoted mother to her and Boo's two children Theresa and Haru, and a loving wife for many years up until King Boo's death. After her husband died, the Queen continued to rule over the Mushroom Kingdom for 3 more years until she abdicated the throne to her oldest child and only daughter Theresa, retiring and becoming the Dowager Queen as she moved into the Summer Castle to live out the rest of her life...

Queen Theresa the Mad ascended to the throne at 21 years old when her mother Queen Dove abdicated the throne to her. The first few years of her reign were peaceful until Theresa eventually suffered from a mental breakdown due to a build up of paranoia, believing that her younger brother Haru was planning to take her throne for himself, which caused her to start attacking some of the other kingdoms in the region. Eventually she did get overthrown by Haru who used the power of the Seven Stars to seal her away into a painting, but not before she used the last of her dark magic to place a curse on her brother and his bloodline, uttering the words "No more sons shall inherit the throne forevermore..."

Queen Papaya of the Sprixies was the daughter of Queen Green Sprixie, and when Prince Haru of the Mushroom Kingdom arrived at her home to seek asylum after Queen Theresa's failed attempt to kill him, she convinced her mother to let him stay. During the time the prince stayed at the Sprixie Kingdom, he and Papaya fell in love before Haru eventually set off to take back the Mushroom Kingdom once his older sister started getting out of control with her destruction. After the war ended and Haru was crowned King, Papaya and her Sprixie servants left the Sprixie Kingdom and used their magic to restore the region back to life when it was on the brink of ruin. As soon as she reunited with the newly crowned King of the Mushroom Kingdom, Haru asked her to marry him and become his Queen, to which she accepted. Their marriage would unite the Mushroom and Sprixie Kingdoms together, and during her reign as Queen, Papaya oversaw that the Sprixies had a good relationship with the Toads and Humans of the Mushroom Kingdom...

Queen Momo the Precious would be the first Queen to start the lineage of female monarchs, as she was the daughter of King Haru and Queen Papaya. As a child Momo learned how to dance and her love for dancing grew with her into adulthood, and even as Queen she continued to dance at festivals, parties, and other events. Momo adored her subjects just as much as they loved her, and her reign over the Mushroom Kingdom would be known as a Golden Age. Under Momo's rule, peace, prosperity, and the people all flourished in the Mushroom Kingdom...

Queen Sora the Warrior was the daughter of Queen Momo and feared by those who dared to threaten the Mushroom Kingdom. As a young child she watched her father train the knights and guards that defended her home, and after many pleas to join her father decided to let her train as a knight. Even after many years of training Sora would still continue to spar with the knights as Queen, and soon her skills were put to the test when a rouge faction of Koopas started attacking the Mushroom Kingdom due to a disagreement over territory. Enemies would flee upon seeing the massive sword Sora carried with her, and during the battle that becoming the turning point only one Koopa mage was brave enough to try to defeat the Warrior Queen, but fate had their plans as during their fight Queen Sora and the Koopa Mage fell in love. And from their love the Queen and the Mage combined their swordsmanship and magic to end the fighting once and for all...

Queen Elemora the Majestic was the half human half koopa daughter born from the union of her parents, her mother being Queen Sora and her father a Koopa Mage. Elemora proved to be her father's daughter as she inherited his koopa magic, and just like her mother learned how to be a warrior from her father, Elemora learned from her father on how to use her koopa magic. When the half koopa queen was crowned, she wasted no time in making sure that the relationship between the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdom was restored to its greatness as the previous war had caused it to deteriorate. Even though majority saw Elemora as a human, there would be times when those unlucky enough would bear witness to her koopa side...

Queen Seraphina the Songstress was the daughter of Queen Elemora, and just like the title she held Seraphina's singing was the most beautiful thing that the Mushroom Kingdom and the entire region could hear for thousands of miles. As her singing started as a child, Seraphina would continue to carry a tune into her adulthood and when she became Queen she sought to utilize her voice to the fullest extent. Seraphina would then oversee the building of the Sparkle Theater as one of her first acts of Queen, and once it opened many came far and war to see the Queen of the Mushroom Kingdom perform as the first Opera Singer in the Sparkle Theater. After performing many solo acts, she eventually began to perform duets with her husband, a Luma being who was banished after he began to become more human...

Queen Morgana the Devoted is the daughter of Queen Seraphina, and since she was a teenager Morgana loved being social with everyone she came across. The young queen's marriage to a newly promoted captain boosted morale for the citizens, as the his business in trading overseas flourished which led to the economy of the Mushroom Kingdom being nearly restored to it's former glory. But tragedy would strike as shortly after the couple's daughter was born, a dangerous storm had struck the king's ship while he was out at sea, and the captain went down with his ship after making sure his crew had safely made it out. Queen Morgana would grieve over the loss of her beloved husband along with the Mushroom Kingdom, and she would make sure that she put her young infant daughter who needed her the most first above all else. As her daughter grew into a child, Morgana began a relationship with a Koopa diplomat who had been friends with her late husband, and eventually the two of them wed. When her daughter grew older and married her own husband, Morgana abdicated the throne to her and retired to the Summer Castle as the Dowager Queen with her second husband. The Dowager Queen and her current husband still reside in the Summer Castle, as they grow older together...

Queen Freya the Wonder is the daughter of Queen Morgana and the current ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom as we enter the modern era. As fate would have it, Freya happened to posses the powers of the Oracle and this meant that she was also the new Queen of the Celestial Kingdom, causing for the island that had been neutral for centuries to now become allied with the Mushroom Kingdom. With Freya's powers as an Oracle proving to be the strongest out of all previous rulers of the Celestial Kingdom, the Seven Stars themselves descended onto the Mushroom Kingdom so they could teach the young "Queen of Queens" on how to use her powers to better the world itself. Queen Freya continues to rule over the Mushroom Kingdom and uses her powers to protect it along with the other kingdoms...

Princess Aurora "Peach" Toadstool is the young 14 year old daughter of Queen Freya, and is an eager little princess that has a heart for animals and adventure. She still has a lot to learn on what it truly means to be a Queen of the Mushroom Kingdom, but nonetheless she continues to grow everyday and run around the castle she calls home under the watchful eyes of her parents and the castle staff...

And that concludes the Lineage of the Queens of the Mushroom Kingdom! To wrap it all up I also have a family tree that I created so it can help everyone remember who's the daughter of who. It also includes the names of the kings that the queens married :D (If you guys are having trouble reading my handwriting in some certain areas then just let me know and I can type it out so it's easier-)

For the art event of MerMay I wanted to make some sketches to celebrate it.  The I included three ideas of mine on the top and three fan arts below.  Top left is an alien Diva (working name Bea) from a Don Bluth inspired story of mine titled “Galena”.  Top middle is my genie OC Zakiyah as a mermaid.  Top left is a blast from the past; my take of one of the posthuman species from Dougal Dixon’s book Man After Man called the Aquatics.  Bottom left is Classic Harley Quinn wielding her signature hammer.  Bottom middle is my current favorite mermaid Mermista from She-Ra and The Princesses of Power.  Lastly bottom right is Seraphina, a mermaid who appeared in the Disney Channel series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.

Harley Quinn Belongs to DC comics, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power belong to ND Stevenson, and Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure belongs to Disney.

Talking of fashion and class lets talk about Princess Seraphina. Seraphina was a Gentleman's Servant by trade and also a molly with a taste for fashion. Seraphina wore both menswear and womenswear and seems to have used both he/him and she/her pronouns.

But it was actually Seraphina's taste in menswear that got her in trouble. "He used to be but meanly dress'd, as to Men's Cloaths," recalls Robinson, "but he came lately to my Mantua-maker's, in a handsome Black Suit". Seraphina was out in this handsome new suit "dress'd in a black Coat, a white Waistcoat, and black Breeches" when the suit was taken by Thomas Gordon. Exactly how Gordon got Seraphina's new suit is a bit of a he-said she-said situation with Seraphina alleging that Gordon robbed her a knife point and Gordon claiming Seraphina gave it to him in exchange for not reporting her for attempted sodomy.

Happy Father's Day Shen!

You know you're too far gone when you try to meld HR tropes with Barbie's Princess and the Pauper

The common consensus among others in the community is that the double midnights means that there's no 'eleventh hour', and that Jaune is too late to save anyone, which they viewed as an allusion to the White Rabbit. Admittedly I prefer your interpretation since all the Rusted Knight really shares with the White Rabbit is that he has a rabbit-adjacent mount and says "I'm late". What do you think?

I don't usually base my speculation off of what other people are saying and I ignore the rest of the fandom. Lol. I'm in exile, I'm not kidding.

I find trying to fit things into allusions like that ignoring the basic text (e.g. midnight, the presence of clocks -> Ozma's reincarnations -> Jaune is the Old Man in the Four Maidens, credit to @rubyneo for pointing this one out) to be a really weak approach, and a common mistake this fandom makes. Especially without respect to the thematic motivation of the story and the greater fairytale it's beholden to (Ozlem) which contextualises everything.

Like, I'm sorry, but I have a character who had a whole episode named after her predicament (Midnight), don't you think that's slightly more relevant here than a bunny reference? It's weak. I also don't think Jaune is too late, or at least he won't be for future narrative events. That's the 'set-up'. Jaune is 'right on time' to go find Ruby now. His fall is necessary.

So I don't think the lack of eleventh hour actually indicates some sort of static character statement and if I've got something more overt in my face (midnight) I'm going to be paying attention to that. I also think the White Rabbit is overall a pretty weak allusion and pretty much constrained to the situation with the Paper Pleasers.

Then there's also that element that I think Raven could come at the eleventh hour, and, well. It might not be 'these' heroes and it might not be Ruby, but someone will come. It remains to be seen. This is much less weighted.

Anyway I think the takeaway is that Jaune being too late is not his final character resolution and in fact I think in future it's going to be that he's emboldened to try, maybe even trying to save someone everyone else says is too far gone. This is set-up and reversal, especially at this point in the story.

Midnight. It's time.

Mortal Kombat Oc Headcanons lets go (why am I calling this headcanons, I control their canon)

-Seraphina and Tomas are the two most stealthiest of the Lin Kuei/Shirai Ryu and definitely used it to play pranks when they were younger

-absolute hide and seek champions

-Yumi was a surprise baby, as Sindel and Jerrod decided they were done after Kitana and Mileena were born

-she was also a very sickly child, making her much shorter and weaker than her sisters as children, so she hit her growth spurt much later than they did

-Claudia secretly kept a Photo Booth picture of she and Johnny as kids when they were still estranged, she still has it

-Long Fei and Ai Xue (parents to the Lin Kuei bros+sis) were an arranged marriage

-Long Fei’s side of the family has a long history of elemental magic, mainly fire and earth, he was arranged to married Ai Xue due to her family history of ice magic

-Min Le first showed signs of earth magic when she was only six and threw a tantrum, where her stomping started a small earthquake and dislodged the ground around her

-Yumi was left on her own as a kid sometimes, which is why she started studying earthrealm, mainly mythology of different cultures

-Claudia has a black belt in taekwondo, she got it during college mainly for self defense and just because she could

-Yumi is infuriated whenever no one believes her and Mileena that Kitana was an absolute little shit as a child

-as a kid, Seraphina took great pleasure in startling Bi Han, which is a good part of how she got so stealthy in the first place

-Seraphina’s native language is that of Madinatan, which is similar to arabic. Since she hasn’t had a need to speak it living on earth, she’s very rusty

-Min Le is a picky eater

-unless it comes to a mission, Seraphina normally can’t sit still, she always needs to be moving

-Claudia gets Seraphina some hair care products sometimes because Seraphina’s hair is so thick and curly and being a shirai ryu probably doesn’t have a salary

-Claudia and Johnny will both use the phrase “it smells like it’s gonna rain”, full on exposing themselves as midwesterners and everyone else being MAD confused

-Seraphina and Min Le eventually learn some Czech so they can both talk to Tomas in his native language

-bonus! edenians can’t get drunk off of human alcohol and to humans, Outworld alcohol is EXTREMELY strong

-Drunk Seraphina is really sappy and laughs at everything, drunk Claudia cries over anything and drunk Yumi is just brutally honest

-Seraphina normally sleeps in oversized shirts+shorts

-Min Le is a serial clothing thief, that includes her brothers and Seraphina and she can somehow pull the fit off every time

-Claudia loves puppy chow (it’s basically just Chex mix but way better)

-unbeknownst to most people, Claudia actually is a big foodie. She will try almost anything

-Johnny introduced Yumi to earthrealm music and she actually really loves a lot of 2000’s pop

-some of her favorite songs include Maneater and Promiscuous Girl by Nelly Furtado, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head by Kylie Minogue, Irreplaceable and Single Ladies by Beyoncé and Poker face by Lady Gaga

-Seraphina is a secret Rihanna stan

-Claudia also enjoys some of 2000’s pop but also loves Kali Uchis

-Min Le loves artists like Kate Bush, The Smiths, Conan Grey, some occasional k-pop and j-pop and also classical

-Seraphina does not like Nitara (for obvious reasons) like many others but has explicit beef with her solely based on the fact that Nitara thought her blood magic superior to water magic and Seraphina just went “bet” and is currently trying to learn how to bend blood

-out of all of my girls, Seraphina is the most hot headed. You get this woman mad, all hell breaks loose. She also can be hella petty too

-on the opposite end of the spectrum, it takes a lot to get Min Le truly angry, mostly because she takes a lot of unjust shit thrown at her but the one thing she will not take is someone underestimating her skills in combat

-when Yumi was born, Kitana and Mileena were NOT happy that they had another sibling, they were very mean towards her for awhile
