the thing is you have to get a good grade in being an art commissioner. you cannot be a bitch when paying for art. you have to be patient and nice. i have not been perfect in my years of paying other furries for art of my funny animals but i can, with confidence, say ive gotten a good grade. artist friends of mine agree im awesome and fankly the Keys to being Awesome at being a commissioner are just like. being nice and recognizing artists arent machines. theyre people who have their own lives and are not infront of their tablet drawing for everyone 24/7. youll find them posting about some game or movie when youve been waiting three weeks for something and thats fine. youll find them having difficulty getting something exactly like how it is in your brain because, like all people, they cannot read your mind. you gotta have everything ready and upfront and be ready to answer questions. its fine to be a little nitpicky and a little "sorry im not quite sure on this pose, could you do X Y and Z" and not be an asshole about it. after a certain number of "can you do X different" you have to realize its either not going to be exactly how you want it to be or the artist is going to want to kill you with hammers. and thats fine. i think artists have every right to want to kill you with hammers.

I’ve been scrolling through some of the Linked Universe tags the past few days and every so often I’ve come across your art, mostly of Warriors and Time and I just wanted to say I absolutely love it! Your art style is really cool and I love the way you colour the pieces you draw, it’s very nice! I hope you’re having an excellent day!
Thank you so much!! I’ve had so much fun drawing Warrior and Time shenanigans and it’s really helped push my art wrt character interactions
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! 🥰🥰🥰
.
Time: So, what’s going on here?
Warriors: Not sure, but it definitely seems like something you should deal with.

"You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me" definitely reads as a cringey edgelord poetry from an emo teenager being a teenager but it's also obviously meme bait

Man. I kinda hate it when people repost my art without credit and they have like. Thousands of likes.
I’ve been posting art on the internet for like 5 years and this is like the most frequent my art has ever been stolen. Like ever.

i have been CONSISTENTLY posting on my art blog for YEARS and i'm not even a quarter as popular as some other artists' untagged first posts
at what fucking point does my effort make me worthwhile, what on earth am i doing wrong, don't I deserve more attention by now-?
"oh just post consistently and you'll eventually build an audience who loves you" how about you kill yourself <3 because clearly nobody likes my stupid art, they'd rather give their attention to those undeserving ungrateful artists instead

i don't wanna sound like a boomer "music was better back then" bc i think that is just incorrect js because i like older music doesn't mean i can't appreciate music today especially bc there's a lot of problematic things with older music. HOWEVER i find it INSANE that anti war music isn't as popular today... i don't mean people aren't making it bc they certainly are. but i mean if you look at the billboard top 100 there are no protest songs and it's so odd to me bc during the vietnam war pretty much every other hit was anti war. music was so important in anti war advocacy and i have barely seen any popular artists speak up about palestine, let alone a hit song that is anti israel at all. again to be clear i know this music exists it's just not as popular and it's all very weird to me. the music industry has certainly improved since the 60s and 70s and let in more diverse voices which i think is great and amazing. i js wish there were more popular artists talking about palestine bc it's the basis of a lot of the artists that inspired these ones, like the beatles (specifically john lennon) openly spoke out against the war, etc

as an artist, nothing brings me quite as much joy as watching someone else's art improve over time. yes you did finally learn how to draw hands! that's very difficult and i'm so proud of you! i have no idea what that technique is that you're using but it is working. look at how confident your lines are now. your use of color has gotten much more bold. that animation is significantly smoother than your early ones. you're really starting to come into your own style. you've come so far and you'll have farther to go still and i can't wait to see it!

To random non artists online (not my mutuals, not anyone I follow/have followed online):
Needing a reference photo to draw something realistically doesn't make someone bad at drawing art.
Also, people need to learn that not every artist draws realistically. Drawing realistically is not the pinnacle of good art to all artists. Good art is drawing something in your own style.

I'm flattered that my text, shit, and analysis posts get 500+ notes, my best ones being way up there (2,000-3,000). But I'd really like my art to get some of that love.
