Dick. For the canon isn't real square I am Specifically talking about the Tom Taylor Nightwing run. Usually I ignore bad runs but given this one is ongoing (though about to end THANK GOD and get replaced by Dan Watters who i have high hopes for since i adored his Sword of Azrael (2022) run but i digress) so I counted it. Especially since it's so debated if that run is bad or not, for some reason. I'm a 90s Nightwing truther. I love Dick so dearly and tbh recently I've been more enamored with him the more I read his Discowing era, I didn't used to be as big of a Dick stan as I am these days.

Bruce. Honestly where do you even start with Bruce. I want to fist fight him and also patch him up. He got me into comics and superheroes as a whole but I roll my eyes whenever he shows up in a story. He's a bastard and usually not a good father but also complex and should be dissected under a magnifying glass. I love him dearly. He's also just the worst. I think that's why I love him. I'm always a fan of unabashedly Complicated Asshole Bruce who's generally not always the best person, particularly not to the Batfamily and that being the driving force of his relationships with them, especially in shipping.

And for bonus points, Tim. Because know above all else, I'm a Tim Drake kinnie /deg. He's been my number one for a decade and I've yet to uproot him from my brain. He's literally the Worst half the time and I love him for it. And the canon isn't real refers to Tim Drake: Robin because... that sure was a comic. And that's about all I can say about it. Pre-Flashpoint Tim I miss you so dearly. I think it's fun that I want to put him in a blender and drink the juice but also want Nothing Ever to happen to him.

Remember a while back when I mentioned that Marie’s head is in another plane of existence? I wasn’t joking, by the way. Sometimes people in the Sirpaverse have a very sharp cutoff point on their bodies cutting off a body part akin to how a missing limb looks like in the real world… except, the body part isn’t actually gone! Marie should be dead, having no brain to be observed, but she isn’t. Nevermind that she can see and hear and talk! This isn’t exactly proven 100% in-universe, but the most accepted theory is that these lost parts are sort of… in another dimension. Marie’s body partly goes into a higher dimension that we cannot observe, like a three-dimensional creature being partly in the second dimension. (Sadly Marie can’t change how much of her is physically here nor observe any higher dimensions either, so like, it’s not even a very good party trick)

The effects of this are varied and occasionally strange. Marie doesn’t feel her head but still knows how to close her eyes and speak — she can blow a raspberry!!! How!?? I dunno, she figured it out as a kid. She has no eyes to get dust or dirt in, but having sand blown in her “face” is especially unpleasant and unhealthy because she also has no protection like lips or nose hairs to stop her from inhaling it directly into her lungs. Bright lights are still bright and loud sounds are still loud, and they can be hard to block out. Heavy rain can be dangerous. Cold air is cold in her throat and lungs. People can’t read her at all, most of the time. But… at least she won’t get brain cancer….? 

You usually won’t see Marie from above (because she’s 190 cm tall) but the cutoff point of her body looks like this from above: 

It seems to emanate light, but if you observed her neck in complete darkness it would not illuminate anything, only itself very faintly.

mill roof is NOT bugged with snow the shaders just have a shit ton of bloom and i havent made it to their settings.

the road issue that was driving me insane:

ID. two skyrim screenshots of a snow-covered road outside whiterun. in the first there are very clear 2D chunks of road that do not blend with anything else. in the second the road looks good but theres a seam between the snow texture on the flat part and the surrounding terrain. End ID.

lighting and snow color are also wildly different btwn screenshots there. and grass. dont worry about it. i need to reinstall all my terrain mods fresh so i make sure i have all the compatibility boxes checked in the FOMOD.

^THAT. is what took the longest. blended roads has to go on top of literally everything else or the bridge will either have road chunks or nor have snow at all.

i know its something to do with majestic mountains, vanilla landscape corrections, and then all the parallax texture conversions so i can use community shaders.

The trick, by the way, of lying to a hard drive about what capacity it's supposed to be, to use it into the dirt, isn't just keeping the disk check from stopping you...

It's recognizing WHY the disk check wants to stop you when a drive has too many bad sectors...

Because the drive is failing. You can lose and corrupt files very easily. You can fry the whole drive. any writing and rewriting is slowly eating your disk.

So you only use it to store simple things that can easily be recovered if the file is corrupted like word files, and you save multiple copies of those files across the disk, and preferably have them all automatically back up, such as with partitioning.

And in my defense I was doing it because I needed a computer to do school work on at home. School work that only had to last to be handed in, and a text journal [well to be fair the failing hard drive might have been less corruptible memory than my own brain at various points]. Oh and everything was small enough to be backed up on floppies too.

I also used to do things like encounter text files with extensions my computer didn't know how to open, or that were corrupted, open them with program compiling software like the compilers used for school projects, and then copy out and reformat the text in a free word program that I -did- have access to. Usually notepad. I'd use find and replace functions to edit out a lot of the code that ended up in with the text when I could.

I would just hop word files between computer systems that didn't have any words programs in common this way like complex formats made by programs the school paid for, and that I didn't have at home, just didn't matter, and I never explained any of this to my teachers, some of whom were very convinced we would not be capable of working on some things at home.

Most often I ended up using it to open fic I had saved from a system that had a fancier word program that I didn't have on the computer I put together at home.

I used the get random motherboards from people that had been laying around for a year or longer that I had to look up the pin configuration for, or figure it out through trial and error and educated guesses.

Kids these days just aren't getting up to that kind of nonsense.

It's all ipads and smart phones.

Also maybe worth noting that my father taught me none of this. He worked on military air craft and made his own circuitboards as a hobby, and was a well paid system's administrator, but I had to teach myself all these things from scratch after leaving home with whatever computer access I could gain through the school and second hand parts.

Imagine what I could have done with guidance and support.

All the other people my age interested in these things were 'boys' and I was a 'girl' [tans masc here, but never mind that] and so when I did things like express an interest in using what I knew of programing to try getting into something like white-hat hacking, guys would make comments on how I "wanted to be a code kitten, hur hur" [someone who copies and pasts code without understanding it]... And they'd say things like "figuring out a motherboard's pin configuration without the original manual is impossible" and take my claims to the contrary as evidence I must be lying.

Imagine though if I had peers I could bounce things off of.
