"No one has ever become poor by giving."

Psalm 41:1-3 states: "Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health." God protects and blesses those who are generous!!! The bible even says in Proverbs 19:17 that when you are generous to the poor, you are lending to God!!! When you give, God is indebted to you!!! The creator of the heavens and earth, the sole worker of miracles, will repay you!! imagine what amazing things He will be able to do in your life if you follow these commands. I understand how difficult it can be sometimes to give things up to other people and accept nothing in return. God knows we, as humans, have problems with this and addresses this issue in Leviticus 25:35-37 when he talks to the Israelites that had been delivered from Egypt. Just like the Israelites were gifted with mercy and generosity by God, if we have made the decision to be saved, we too have been gifted with His mercy and generosity. Therefore, God calls us to treat our neighbors with that kind of selfless giving. In a time where the world around us seems to focus on individual achievements and material accomplishments, God calls us in Matthew 6:19-21 not to invest in earthly riches, but in spiritual riches. God has prepared a place in Heaven for each of His children, and it's almost as if He builds on to it each time we honor His word. Because of this, instead of being greedy with our money and time and use it all on ourselves, we are called to put our money and time into helping those less fortunate and spreading the love and message of the One who had mercy on us.

Praying the Psalms, Psalm 41

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the reminder today that you are a rescuer. You have protected me in ways I don’t even see. Your hand is over me and you have guided me. You delivered me, LORD, from a life of sin and have given me your unconditional love - despite my wayward heart!

Father, if there are those who seek my ill, then I pray that you forgive them. I ask Holy Spirit, that you would reveal to me any relationship that needs mending, so that I could pursue peace with them. But Lord, there is an Enemy that will always seek my destruction, and so I pray that you give me your wisdom and strength to withstand him. When faced with the opportunity to sin, I pray that I would have courage to flee and find shelter with You.

Holy Spirit help me walk in integrity before You today as I seek to love my wife, lead my family, and minister to your people. Help me, Lord, give you honor and glory in all things. Amen.
