although werewolves are classified as a shifter-type monster (same as Horangi or the cockatrice) they're actually unique in a hidden way. Horangi is a hybrid whose lineology originates from the first pureblood haetaes, which had zero human in them. In comparison, werewolves originated AS a human-wolf monster, which results in an interesting relationship between the human and shifted 'full-wolf' form.

While Horangi is the same in his human and haetae form, Soap juggles two souls in one body - one belonging to human side, and the other to his wolf. They are both still implicitly him - the souls run parallel with one another throughout his life - but being a werewolf is very much like maintaining a life-long partnership. Soap and his wolf are a great example of a success story, but some werewolves have difficult relationships with their wolf, resulting in only transforming during full moons when they have to.

In some ways, Soap is perfect in the military's eyes as he has a strong connection with his wolf, and happens to come from a long line of larger-than-average specimens (even though he doesn't care too much about his genealogy, preferring to call himself a mongrel breed). In other ways, he's also a nightmare, because his wolf exemplifies the worst in his rebellious streak, featuring recklessness, fickleness towards authority and an extremely low tolerance for boredom.

sharing bc i saw you mention it once in the past, ive fallen in love with this babygirl at a local rescue (finally feels right to bring another dog into my life after my former best girl passed unexpectedly) but my god. their vetting process is beyond insane. i really love her, and i understand they want to make sure people can properly care and its a good home and all that, but my government job didnt vet me as much as this place is

It's so crazy what some rescues and shelters will ask for and it's gotten worse over the years. I remember when I started to notice the "fenced in yard" requirements, and it just got worse from then on. I get they want their animals to go to "good homes" but not every good home looks the same. Hell some of the "good homes" may still not the best for the dog. Having a fence doesn't automatically equate to how capable I am of handling dog training. And the in-house visits are too damn much for me cause the second they don't like your zipcode, it allows them to discriminate and pass over certain applicants.

Idk just, I got big feelings about it because it irks me the wrong way.

haven’t been on much bc my dog has been sick :( between seizures and an infected tooth we’ve been having a Time trying to get everything fixed (this started around the holidays so our vet has been very booked up…we have been like 3-4 times in the past 4-5 weeks OTL does not help it’s like an hour drive there, so that’s been exhausting) now his new seizure meds are making him sick (was hoping it was like, just an adjustment period thing but he’s been sick for a week and having concerning symptoms…) if I’m not on a ton or slow to replying to messages it’s bc I’m working as much overtime as my job will give me bc Vet Expensive and mentally drained obvi 😞

Shadow wasn't sure what to think of Ozzie at first.

This...furry...lovable...cuddly...golden fur canine with no thoughts in his head immediately walked up to Shadow as soon as he entered the Wachowski household.

Having read about dog behaviour with Maria before, Shadow knew this as a good sign. No sign of aggression in this little goofball. This was usual for golden retrievers.

Shadow bore of a soft smile, and gently pet Ozzie's head...stroking his floppy ears too.

"Maria would've loved you..."

Ozzie had no idea who Maria was. Or what Shadow was on about. He just knows this black hedgehog needs cuddles. He will give him cuddles - whether Shadow wants them or not.

...Shadow did like those cuddles deep down though.
