I see a certain celebrity has decided to show her ass online with regards to letting autistic people tell their own stories. This seems like as good a time as any to inform you all that I, a brown autistic person, am currently creating a webcomic about being trans and autistic in the newly digital global south.

I aim to launch it before the end of 2020 (depending on how publishing goes) and update it twice a week. So if you’re like me and don’t celebrate any seasonal holidays around this time, perhaps this could be something to look forward to in December instead.

The protagonists are a buff horse monk and a curvy owl lady, and meeting each other sets them both on an unexpected journey of self-discovery as the city’s political battles rage on around them.

Here’s some previews where our horse monk gets a bit of advice.

It’s a weird kind of story with a lot of talking and brooding and probably too much philosophy. I think it’s pretty neat. Hope y’all feel the same if you give it a go.

This goes without saying but I’d really appreciate reblogs on this, since I have less than a hundred followers on here and want to get the story out to as many people as possible. For updates, you can follow this blog or check out my Twitter @karhuette. I’ll gladly post about it constantly, even pre-release, if I sense that people are interested - that’s how being autistic usually works, after all.

i think its super interesting how minorities (but i’m gonna fixate on LGBTQ+ people bc honestly ! that is where most of my expierence lies as a marginalized person!) seem to be attracted to media that deals w/ themes of loss, pain, trauma, existentialism and the End of the World, usually in ways that Cishet media either overlooks or just Doesn’t. like, i wonder if it has anything to do with how cis-centric, heteronormative, patriarcial society fills LGBTQ+ people with dread at the prospect of both living and dying, and how most queer people, in some way, expierence mental illness and - and this is just from personal expierence - kinda always feel like the world is/has ended, or at least, has moved on away from them?

like i just think its so interesting what media queer ppl (not white, cis, gay men, fuck them) tend graviate towards based on their own escpaist fantasties, and what they relate to

Summary: Witch Hunt centers around Rashad and Sea, who on the anniversary of a childhood friend's death deal with odd occurrences around town. Sea is convinced that their friend is still of this world, while Rashad is just along for the ride. Follow these two black queer folks as they search for answers, shake off growing pains and go on a small town adventure.

If you like comics about queer and trans people of color then check this out. The first five pages will be posted back to back starting November 10th. Calling all fans of queer sports media!

My pal @witchlightsands and I are about to launch a new Tumblr webcomic about Taekwon-Do called “Indomitable Spirit!!!!”

The comic tells the story of Catalina (Cat) Cordova, her twin sibling Luz, and the twins’ best friend, Safia Nassir. A few cool things about this comic:

It’s not just about Taekwon-Do! While there will be a lot of Taekwon-Do in the comic, there is also going to be plenty of fleshing-out of the kids’ outside lives!

Diversity! We’ve packed this sucker full of diversity, and you’ll see it right off the bat with the three main characters. (Spoiler alert: the twins are Puerto Rican and Safia is Syrian and Muslim, and all three of them are neurodivergent.)

No queerbaiting! Both Rose and I are queer ourselves and we’re gonna pack this full of gay right from the get-go. I promise you, it’s canon.

I highly encourage all of you to follow @indomitablespiritcomic! We’re not up and running yet, but it’s going to be a great time!

I'm always so worried to share advertisements for my books on Tumblr! I feel like tumblr is definitely more a creative space, but I wanted to try and advertise this in as many places as possible.

I usually make a new book for BUUZA!! every year, but this year I'm taking a break to focus more on new projects that pay (lol) and promoting Saving Sunshine. But that means I have 3 events on this year which I have 0 stock for...

I often sell out at cons, but it'll take a few thousand to restock properly for my upcoming events! I'm holding the pre-orders now to help me get some funds to reprint the books :,)

i havent read a straight book since 2015. here’s my best offers:first some tumblr famous ones:six of crows duology by leigh bardugo (m/m, also features bi female character, includes qpoc. people doing crime for money. magic is involved. absolutely iconic and the onlyfantasy series ive genunely enjoyed in a while)the foxhole court/all for the game series by nora sakavic (m/m. also features qpoc. boy gets caught in a mob war and does a fictional sport. the plot is admittedly as insane as it sounds but its so well-written i didnt even realise this until after i’d read it)simon vs the homosapiens agenda by becky albertalli (u know this one. m/m, features qpoc. casual coming of age novel w a gay lead)aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe by benjamin alire sáenz (m/m, features qpoc. absolutely Gorgeous coming of age novel. two boys meeting and growing up together)

and some u might not have heard of before:know not why by hannah johnson (m/m, also features a female bi character. DudeBro gets a job at an arts & crafts store to get the ladies. then he does not, in fact, get The Ladies. really chill, wholesome, funny romance novel.)radio silence by alice oseman (m/m, also features bi female character & lesbian character. features an ace-spec character. features qpoc. girl accidentally meets the creator of her favourite podcast & they become friends, all whilst dealing with uni stress.)i was born for this by alice oseman (no major romance*, gay character, bi male character, bi female character, trans character, questioning character. features qpoc. girl is counting down the days until she meets her favourite boy band. on the other side of the story, boy is dealing with the pressure of being a wold-famous celebrity. they meetand their lives intertwine in weird ways.)leah on the offbeat by becky albertalli (f/f with background m/m. features qpoc. either u hate it or love it, yet another coming of age novel!)

*it does feature a crush BUT no relationship starts between the two characters! 

honourable mention: solitaire by alice oseman, (depressed girl meets endless optimist & they solve a mystery together. lots of inverted tropes!!) which features a background m/m relationship. their relationship is further explored in the novella nick & charlie and the ongoing webcomic heartstopper, which is avaiable on tumblr as heartstoppercomic and on tapas as heartstopper! (focuses m/m, background f/f, features bi & gay characters, also features a trans character, features an ace-spec character and features qpoc.)

You know I am tired of there not being enough QPOC in supernatural/superhero series. Sure, there is a rise with awesome webcomics, but still in TV shows it’s like... not all mermaids, vampires, werewolves, fairies, etc. are white or white passing. Idk I just want more characters that look like me so I can say wow they look like me and I can really relate to them.
