[ . . . ] IXLUVS FANDOM BREAKDOWN
EXILE HER would announce her fandom name on JULY 1, 2018 just SIXTEEN days after her debut. named IXLUVS, the soloist explained that it’s a play on word for “I LOVE” which combines I + EXILE + LOVE all together.
NICKNAMES : ixluvies, you little fuckers, luvs, my demonic fairies
LIGHTSTICK : X-LIGHT
IXLUVS SELCA DAY : the 16th of every month
IXLUVS EMOJI : 🧚‍♀️
Tumblr media
OO. FAN DEMOGRAPHICS
AGE RANGE : ixluvs demographic is wide for its age range. ranging from teens to people in their early-60s. the wide age range comes from the fact that you try a new concept with each comeback, which also sometimes involves a new sound. many fans in their twenties enjoy the more darker and dance centered tracks while older and younger fans enjoy your more light hearted and even retro-inspired tracks.
GENDER : compared to the age demographic, ixluvs are made up of a majority of females and people who identify as nonbinary or genderqueer. you have struggled with having male fans since debut as most of your aesthetics have been geared more towards females rather than males. it’s also been revealed that most of your fans are apart of the LGBTQ+ community.
REGIONS : you are most popular in east asia, north america, oceania, and europe. your largest fanbases are found in korea, america, japan, ireland, italy, australia, and new zealand.
OTHER FANDOMS THEY ARE CLOSE TO : atiny ( ateez ) midzy ( itzy ) revluvs ( red velvet ) orbits ( loona ) ujung ( wjsn ) stays ( stray kids ) moa ( txt ) insomnia ( dreamcatcher )
Tumblr media
OO. FAN REPUTATION
ANTISOCIAL : many ixluvs have revealed themselves to be quite antisocial which mimics you and your homebody behaviors. while they are friendly and close with other fandoms, it is mostly because of said other fandom.
CLIQUE : probably one of the few bad traits. ixluvs have been known to stick together especially on social media platforms. only multis are often seen interacting with other fandoms especially on twitter.
NONCOMPETITIVE : to the older ixluvs the numbers have never been a thing. there are a few newer fans who are obsessed with streaming and voting, but most fans have learned that winning isn’t that big of thing and that you just want to make music and have a good time with them, performing.
HUMOROUS : netizens labeled them as one of the funniest fandoms due to how often they are making memes out of you. they are also well-known to use spongebob memes to represent you, much to your fake annoyance. if you see a spongebob meme floating around on kpop twitter, please go ahead and assume it’s an ixluv clowning you.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
OO. FAN TRIVIA
ixluvs have a strong relationship with ateez’s fandom, atiny.
ixluvs don’t tend to get into very many guess however one notable fued was when they got into several arguments with dive in the past.
their nickname “you little fuckers” came about when you were on a live and a sasaeng kept calling you to which you said “yah, you little fuckers, stop calling me i’m trying to talk.”
there’s a subculture of ixluvs that involves stay-at-moms who are die hard fans. the moms have a very parental love towards you and few you as their own daughter. they have been dubbed as “IXMOMS” by other fans. ixmoms are often seen with bringing their own children to fansigns and concerts.
ixluvs are most well-known to be very respectful towards you and your privacy minus a few bad eggs here and there. netizens also labeled them as the fandom that is the most open as seen when your relationship with yeosang was revealed.

Thoughts or ramblings from this morning...
Music is strange. It's power is magical and almost unnatural except it's like... the most natural thing in this world... part of the supernatural primal power that binds everything together in this world in the beginning and the end.
How can a single song sometimes effect so much that it changes the course of one's life?
A few years ago I was depressed and frankly shaken by things that had happened over the few years and there was no end to it... I thought. Then one day I was playing RDR2 (on a weeks leave from work for the burn out) and listening to Springsteen's latest Western Stars album, Chasin' Wild Horses started playing and shattered me in tears. Just broke the dam I had built for them and all of it came out. It was like somebody had lifted the lid of my coffin and set me free.
Then last spring (as things rarely last very long in this life and depression comes in waves) I heard Queen's These Are the Days of Our Lives and the same thing happened again... a bit differently. Like the wind had blown the clouds of the skies and the sun was warm and shining again.
I tend to give credit of my first such miracle to The Music Of The Night, but just realised it wasn't the first. I had heard Northwest Passage in my fav tv series Due South. I was about 9, a lonely little freak of my classroom. But something in that song (and maybe the series too) gave me courage to be myself. I decided I didn't care to fit in. Because of the strenght one song gave me. And mind you this was before youtube or the net. If I wanted to hear the song I needed to watch the episode or sing it myself. Perhaps for that reason the song has quietly played inside of me all these years. Hearing it these day feels almost like it's my anthem.
What if we are "only" the sum of the songs we gather on our journey here? What a beautiful thing it would be if we exploded into those songs when we reach the end our line.
Erik: So we become music?
I think I just understood what the holy spirit or some such might mean rambling this up here...

King Charles' Christmas speech pays tribute to the late Queen with a poignant choice of setting (msn.com)
The setting could not be more poignant. King Charles III will deliver his first Christmas message to the nation from St George’s Chapel, Windsor, where his mother was buried just a few months ago.
In the broadcast, he will pay tribute to the late Queen, who gave her first Christmas address by radio 70 years ago. This started the tradition of televised messages in 1957. The contents of the King’s first Christmas speech, recorded on December 13, are being kept under tight wraps but will be eagerly anticipated. The deliberate choice of venue, where his father, the late Duke of Edinburgh, is also laid to rest, sends out the strongest possible signal of the King’s bond with his parents and his commitment to their values.
St George’s Chapel was also the location for the Service of Prayer and Dedication following his second marriage to the now Queen Consort in 2005.
In the only publicity photograph released so far, the King is pictured standing to deliver his speech in the chapel’s Quire. He is wearing a favorite bold blue suit (likely made by his preferred Mayfair tailor), which he has worn on many previous occasions, including the presidential visit of Donald Trump in 2019. The late Queen Elizabeth II used a variety of locations over the years. Her first televised addresses were broadcast live from Sandringham, where the royal family traditionally enjoys Christmas. In 1999, the late Queen marked the end of the millennium with a message also broadcast from St George’s Chapel.
During her reign, she also pre-recorded messages from the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace and even the Royal Albert Hall, but in recent years had confined herself to sitting behind a desk. In 2003, her message was filmed at Combermere Barracks in Windsor, entirely on location, for the first time.
In the late Queen’s first Christmas speech in 1952, the BBC report at the time noted that Her Majesty had “used the same desk and chair as her father King George VI and his father King George V had done”. In the message, she asked the public to pray for her on Coronation Day the following spring. It will be interesting to see if the present King requests the same of his subjects 70 years on. The choice of the chapel in some ways avoids the awkward problem of artefacts on display on a desk or in the background of any sitting room or study.
Royal watchers will be scrutinizing this year’s speech for any mention – or not – of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have gotten to war with the Royal family over their Netflix documentary and a soon-to-be-published autobiography. By avoiding a desk, viewers will not be able to assess the prominence or otherwise of photographs of his youngest son, his bride, and their children. These children now live on the run in California.
When the King made his first public address to the nation, the day after his mother’s death, he stepped out of his way to “express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas”. But relations have deteriorated further since then. But the newly crowned King will praise his mother handsomely. Her committal service was held in St George’s Chapel. She was laid to rest in the George VI Memorial Chapel, within St George’s, with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh. The chapel Quire was where the Royal family sat during the committal service, watched by a worldwide audience of hundreds of millions.
Following the Queen’s death, King Charles spoke movingly of his “beloved mother”, telling the nation in September: “We owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother; for her love, affection, guidance, understanding, and example.”
During this year’s Christmas broadcast, the chapel’s choir will perform a carol and sing the national anthem. In the background is the chapel Christmas tree decorated with ornaments made from sustainable materials including paper and glass as well as natural products such as pine cones.
The King has been a campaigning environmentalist for several decades and choosing sustainable decorations only emphasizes his years spent promoting a green agenda while still heir to the throne.
Following the recording of the festive address, the Christmas tree was re-used by St George’s Chapel in the Dean’s Cloister for visitors to enjoy. The broadcast was produced by BBC Studios Events, ahead of ITV, who was recording the King’s first festive address. This was under a rotating producer system between the BBC, ITV, and Sky News. A Buckingham Palace spokesman said the decision was taken as the BBC had “experience of shooting in St George’s Chapel this year."

Hi Queen! Could you maybe do an ultimate ranking of all the Taylor Swift albums??? Ps love ur writing
you come into my house, compliment my writing and ask me about Taylor? come here I want to kiss you 💞
9- Debut 🥴 I'm not sorry. Her sound and lyrics were too rough at this point for me. When I first listened to Teardrops on my guitar I was in my cringy punk rock phase (still am) and mocked it endlessly. I've seen the light since then, and TOMG is actually one of the gems from the album. 8- Lover: I AM sorry for this one. Especially because it has one of my absolute anthems, jams, soul altering songs: Afterglow. I have no idea what a healthy relationship is, and at this point, I'm too afraid to ask. 7- 1989: I know, I am an infidel for placing it so low on the list. I listen to it regularly, I adore it, but I don't think it has any life-changing gems. For me personally. That being said: I know places is a sapphic anthem. 6- Fearless (TV of course) 5- Red 4- Speak now: I'm on speak now withdrawal bc I refuse to listen to the stolen versions that give money to Men™ but I use spotify. So you see my conundrum. 3- Evermore: it ranks higher during spring and summer. 2- Reputation: Yes, there are allegations about my anger issues I refuse to acknowledge. Also, I want to be the grunge, leather boots, badass girlfriend, but instead, I am the PJs-all-day, homemade marmalade, overly anxious gf. 1- Folklore: this is not an album. It's a vital organ tucked inside my body, keeping me alive and turning the world around me into a hospitable place.

KING MEETS PAULINA MCNALLY AT BUCKINGSIM PALACE
BUCKINGSIMSHIRE, Windenburg (SNN) - - Willow Creek President Paulina McNally and First Gentleman Prescott McNally have met the King at Buckingsim Palace. The WC President was in Greater Windenburg to speak with Prime Minister Churchill on renewed trade deals. The palace visit included a Guard of Honour and afternoon tea with the monarch.
The McNallys travelled from Boykins, Britechester, on Air Force One to Greater Windenburg's Edward I Airport before taking the short distance to Buckingsim. They were greeted by the King and Queen at the dais in the palace's quadrangle.
A Guard of Honour, formed of the King's Company First Battalion Grenadier Guards gave a Royal Salute, and the Willow Creek national anthem was played.
Tumblr media
Mrs McNally accompanied the King to inspect the Honour Guard, before returning to the dais to watch the military march-past. The role of escorting a visiting head of state to inspect the troops is usually carried out by just the King but todays’ visit also included the Queen and the Willow Creek First Gentleman.
Tumblr media
The palace said the couple left at just after 2:00 PM WST, meaning they spent around 40 minutes inside the palace.
The whole visit lasted just over an hour and is believed to have overrun by 15 minutes. Sources close to the King said he enjoyed meeting with the McNallys, and the Queen looked happy and relaxed in their company at today’s short and scaled-back military parade.
Tumblr media
Speaking afterwards, President McNally said they had spoken about Oasis Springs’ King Felipe and Sulani’s leader Keanu Boulle.
"We had a long talk," she said. "He was very generous and is very wise.” McNally declined to comment on the breaking news out of Oasis Springs.

30 (Technically 34) Albums We Loved That Happened To Come Out in 2020
Tumblr media
So much has already been said and written about this cursed past year, but a few good things came out of it, including the music. Album-wise, like many before it and many to come, it was an embarrassment of riches. But even with so much time on our hands to devour new tunes, it was often old favorites, songs of comfort or familiarity that garnered the heaviest rotation. For many artists, too, it was a year ripe for revisiting or reissues of old material, looking at existing songs with fresh and new perspectives. Simply put, with so much to listen to, new and old, the prospect of ranking a finite number of albums felt not only daunting, but frankly a bit stupid. Maybe we were late to the game, but 2020 taught us that music should and can be appreciated in multiple contexts, not limited to but including when it first came out and when it was heard again and again, even if years later. The records below--listed in alphabetical order--happened to be released in some form in 2020, whether never-before-heard or heard before but in a different format. And the only thing I know is that we’ll be listening to them in 2021 and beyond.
Tumblr media
Autechre - SIGN & PLUS (Warp)
The legendary British electronic music duo surprise released SIGN a mere month and a half after its announcement and then PLUS 12 days later. The former was a beatific collection of soundscapes that belied the band’s usual harsh noise, while PLUS embraced that noise right back, drawing you in with the clattering chaotic burbles of opener “DekDre Scap B” and lurching forward. -Jordan Mainzer
Tumblr media
Against All Logic - 2017-2019 (Other People)
The perennially chill ambient house artist Nicolas Jaar had a busy 2020, as usual, releasing two albums under his name, Cenizas and Telas. But it was 2017-2019, the follow-up to the debut album from his Against All Logic moniker, that came first and throughout the year helped to illustrate Jaar’s penchant for combining inspired samples with club beats and tape hiss. Take the way the lovelorn vocals of “Fantasy” or soulful coos of “If Loving You Is Wrong” war skittering, scratchy percussion and cool arpeggios, respectively: Jaar is coming into his own as a masterful producer almost a decade after he released his first full-length. Oh, and bonus points for including none other than Lydia Lunch on a banger so blunt it would make Death Grips blush. - JM
Tumblr media
Bartees Strange - Live Forever (Memory Music)
Like many, my introduction to Bartees Strange was through Say Goodbye to Pretty Boy, his EP of The National covers. Creativity and shifting perspectives shine through each song’s reimaging, like flipping the coarse, almost manic “Mr. November” into something softer, more meditative. It felt like a mere peek into what was to come on Live Forever. Bartees Strange is a world-builder. Each track on his debut unfolds and welcomes you to a wildly engaging tableau, a fully constructed vision. “Jealousy” opens with soft vocals and birdsong. “In a Cab” is the slick soundtrack to racing through a cityscape in the rain, seeing the blurred lights of the high-rises above as you pass by. “Kelly Rowland” warps wistful pop song feelings. “Flagey God” takes you into a dark, pulsing club while only a few songs later, “Fallen For You” wraps you in echoed vocals and romantic, raw acoustic guitar.
It’s an accomplishment to craft an album of individual songs that stand strongly on their own but still feel cohesive. 2020 wasn’t all bad. It gave us Live Forever, a declaration of an artist’s arrival. - Lauren Lederman
Tumblr media
Charli XCX - how i’m feeling now (Atlantic)
Back in the spring, many of us wondered who would put out something great in 2020’s quarantine. It was hard to imagine that the intensity of a global pandemic would really allow for artists to embrace creativity. That thought carries the same eye-roll inducing feeling of “We’ll get some great punk music out of a Trump presidency,” but of course, Charli XCX delivered. Through live workshops with fans and longstanding collaborators, she delivered songs to dance alone to in your bubble. Charli embraces the unknown of the moment but clutches onto what’s familiar. Under the glitch-pop veneer of the album, she digs into the anxieties of not just this moment of time but of the bigger questions we all confront: trajectories of relationships with friends, romantic partners, ourselves. Album standouts “forever” and “i finally understand” embrace that feeling of both looking for control and accepting the lack of it. Charli is a master at balancing this. - LL
Tumblr media
Christine and the Queens - La Vita Nuova (Because Music)
Named after a Latin text by Dante Alighieri about missing a woman who has died, Chris’ La Vita Nuova is not about mourning a death but instead about loneliness and isolation, post-relationship or otherwise. It doesn’t bang quite like her previous two albums, but it hits harder than ever.

Tumblr media
Dogleg - Melee (Triple Crown)
Released on March 13th, right as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Melee was supposed to be supported by three cancelled tours–SXSW, an opening slot for Microwave, and an opening slot for Joyce Manor–and an appearance at this year’s cancelled Pitchfork Music Festival. Listening to the songs on the record, you can only imagine how they translate: the jerky momentum of “Bueno”, build-up of “Prom Hell”, gang vocals of “Fox”, clear-vocal anthem of “Wrist”, and odd groove of “Ender”.
Read “Buckle Up, Motherfucker”, our interview with Dogleg.
Tumblr media
Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia & Dua Lipa/The Blessed Madonna: Club Future Nostalgia (Warner)
Where Dua Lipa’s much-anticipated second album Future Nostalgia succeeded was in its disco anthems and retro, club-ready beats, so who better to bring out the best of the record than The Blessed Madonna? The turntablist masterfully curates a mix of heavy hitters of the charts and the underground that not only offers an essential complement to Future Nostalgia but transcends it. Sending the tracks out to various producers and singers for features and then adding her own samples on top, she invites you to peel back the layers, enter a YouTube rabbit hole of sample searching as much as bopping along.

Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou - May Our Chambers Be Full (Sacred Bones)
Roadburn Festival has long been on my bucket list, and since the pandemic showed me how much live music can be taken away in a flash, when it’s safe again to travel and go to a festival, I may just pull the trigger and go--especially considering it’s the springboard for such fruitful and inspired collaborations as the one between Louisville singer-songwriter Emma Ruth Rundle and Baton Rouge sludge dwellers Thou. Rundle embraces the heavier opportunities on the follow-up to her incredible 2018 record On Dark Horses with the ever-flexible Thou backing her up vocally and instrumentally. Slow-burning opener “Killing Floor” offers a familiar introduction to fans of both--sort of what a Rundle/Thou song would sound like--before grunge chugger “Monolith” introduces huge, catchy riffs and “Out of Existence” a True Widow-esque dirge, newfound inspirations for both artists bringing the best out of each other. - JM
Tumblr media
Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters (Epic)
What makes Fetch the Bolt Cutters stand out among Apple’s catalog and music in general is the clarity with which Apple seethes at those who have wronged her, whether ex-boyfriends or patriarchal oppressors, and looks to her relationships with other women for peace of mind.
Read our full review here.
Tumblr media
HAIM - Women in Music Pt. III (Columbia)
For HAIM, the title Women in Music Pt. III is suggestive that, more than their previous two records, their third centers around the experiences of being an all-female band in a historically white cis male-dominated scene, at least one that wouldn’t call catchy riffs written by a man “simple” or call attention to the faces a man makes while playing. What it doesn’t let on to is how deeply personal the record is, how, by unabashedly embracing genres and styles of music that they love, HAIM have made far and away their best album. Co-produced by the usual suspects, Danielle Haim, Ariel Rechtshaid, and ex-Vampire Weekender Rostam Batmanglij, it’s instrumentally and aesthetically dynamic and diverse, consistently earnest without devolving into cheese.

Irreversible Entanglements - Who Sent You? (International Anthem)
I’ve been captivated by Irreversible Entanglements ever since I first saw them at Pitchfork Music Festival 2018. The radical poetry of Camae Ayewa (aka Moor Mother) is the perfect front for a ramshackle mix of Luke Stewart’s spidery bass, Tcheser Holmes’ weighty drums, and a horn section that concocts tones that range from hopeful to desperate. At their best, Who Sent You? is a shining example of celebratory Afrofuturism and metaphysics that makes the urgency of Ayewa’s more concrete and political words all the more necessary. “No Más”, composed by Panamanian-born trumpeter Aquiles Navarro, is a declaration against imperialist oppression, while the stunning title track flips the switch like a Kara Walker painting, as Ayewa’s the one interrogating the police officer terrorizing her community. “Who sent you?” she repeats, never spiraling, grabbing a hold of the power and never letting go. - JM
Tumblr media
Jeff Parker - Suite for Max Brown (International Anthem/Nonesuch)
It’s Jeff Parker’s mom’s turn. After 2016′s The New Breed ended up being a tribute to the guitarist’s father, who passed away during the making of it, Parker decided to pay tribute to Maxine while she was still alive. Suite for Max Brown (Brown is his mother’s maiden name; Max is what people call her) is a genre-bending collection of tracks inspired by Parker’s DJing, juxtapositions of sequenced beats with improvisation that certainly sound like the brainchild of one individual. Indeed, Parker plays the majority of the instruments on it and engineered most of it at home or during his 2018 Headlands Center residency in Sausalito, CA; though all of the players and the vocalist (Jeff’s daughter Ruby Parker) on The New Breed show up, plus a couple trumpeters (piccolo player Rob Mazurek and Nate Walcott of Bright Eyes) and cellist Katinka Kleijn, Suite for Max Brown is a distinctly Jeff Parker record.
Read our preview of Jeff Parker & The New Breed’s set at Dorian’s last year.
Tumblr media
Jeff Rosenstock - NO DREAM (Polyvinyl)
Jeff Rosenstock throws us right into the spinning, manic energy of NO DREAM, his latest release from a seemingly endless well of music that never lacks urgency. It’s a reminder that though it’s been a strange year, the issues Rosenstock tackles here aren’t new. There’s no interest in making you feel comfortable here. On the album’s title track, Rosenstock sings, lulling you into a false sense of security, “They were separating families carelessly / Under the guise of protecting you and me.” But reality sets in, and the hazy guitars spin out as he spits, “It’s not a dream!” and, “Fuck violence!”
My image of Jeff Rosenstock in the year 2020 is masked up with “Black Lives Matter” scrawled across the fabric of his mask in Sharpie, performing album highlight “Scram!” on Late Night with Seth Meyers as high energy as ever. It felt like watching someone send out a beacon, both a distress signal and a call to arms. - LL
Tumblr media
Jessie Ware - What’s Your Pleasure? (PMR/Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope)
I am not someone who goes to clubs. I don’t “go out dancing,” preferring to let loose in the privacy of my own home or a trusted friend’s house party. But Jessie Ware’s What’s Your Pleasure? makes me think I could embrace a night out like that, once the world opens up again, of course. The album is filled with syncopated disco beats that feel fresh and classic all at once. The abundant horns and strings on “Step Into My Life” are decadent, like light bouncing off sequins in a dark room. Ware’s voice is slinky and velvety one moment, windswept like her album cover the next. It’s songs like “Save a Kiss” that embrace both, allowing her to show off her range. - LL
Tumblr media
Laura Marling - Song for Our Daughter (Partisan)
With sparse production, mostly from her but with additions from Ethan Johns and Dom Monks, Marling foregoes the comparative maximalism of the Blake Mills-produced Semper Femina, her last proper full-length, and 2018′s LUMP collaboration. The songs aren’t simple, but they’re succinct, and every element, from Marling’s finger-picked guitars, the occasional slide guitar, and that unmistakably calm voice, sometimes alone and sometimes layered, fits. It’s her most universal set of songs yet, centering around the times when we’re apart from one another but reflecting on when we were together and when we might be together again, with no guarantees.

Les Amazones d’Afrique - Amazones Power (Real World Records)
The groovy pan-African collective expands upon their debut Republique Amazone and then some with Amazones Power, a tour-de-force statement of female empowerment in the face of oppression against women throughout the African diaspora. Indeed, the album is more than just songs boldly decrying FGM, though those demands ring heavily. Instead, the group goes further, delving into gender power structures in marriage on “Queens” and selectively finding strength in tradition on “Dreams”. And this time, they include men to stand alongside with them. “Together we must stand / Together we must end this,” sings Guinean musician/dancer/artist Niariu on opener “Heavy” in solidarity with features Douranne (Boy) Fall and Magueye Diouk (Jon Grace) of Paris band Nyoko Bokbae. But perhaps it’s her kiss-off on “Smile” that hits hardest: “I shut up for no one.” - JM

Lianne La Havas - Lianne La Havas (Nonesuch)
The British singer-songwriter’s much anticipated follow-up to 2015′s Blood was better than I could have ever imagined. A song cycle about life cycles--of nature, of lives, of a relationship--inspired by an actual breakup, Lianne La Havas is a contemporary neo soul masterpiece. Overview opener “Bittersweet” is an instant earworm, La Havas’ coo-turned-belt filling the space between classic and increasingly emotive slabs of piano and guitar. Funky, lovestruck strut “Read My Mind” is the soundtrack for the unbridled confidence of finding new love. Yes, the doubts begin to sow on the fingerpicked melancholy of “Green Papaya” and “Can’t Fight”, and where the album goes from a simple narrative perspective may be predictable: They break up, they don’t get back together, La Havas enjoys her independence. But the depth of the arrangements and assuredness of La Havas’ singing is a product of an artist starting to really show us what she can do. And how many people can pull off a Radiohead cover like that? - JM

Lomelda - Hannah (Double Double Whammy)
What does it mean to title an album after yourself? Lomelda’s latest album is centered around discovering more about yourself while not always having the answers. Despite the lyrical content, the album is self-assured. Hannah Read’s voice feels as steady as ever as it navigates these twisting questions, like the way the world can shift after a kiss. She finds power in softness and reflection throughout the album, like when she explores the mantra-like words of “Wonder” or through a reminder to do no harm in “Hannah Sun”. In a year that allowed for perhaps more reflection than usual, Hannah makes space for the questions that arise out of figuring yourself out, of making sense of the messiness of it all, wrapped in warm guitar, balanced vocals, and steady drums. - LL

Moses Sumney - Grae (Jagjaguwar)
“Am I vital / If my heart is idle? / Am I doomed?” Moses Sumney famously sang on his stunning 2017 debut Aromanticism, an album that saw him developing his acceptance of being alone. grae, his two-part 2nd full-length, and his first since officially moving from L.A. to the Appalachian Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, doubles down on themes of heartbreak, but instead of being sure in his seclusion, he embraces the unknown. The album teeters between interludes of platitudes about isolation and ruminations on failed human connection, and maximally arranged clutches of uncertainty. “When my mind’s clouded and filled with doubt / That’s when I feel the most alive,” Sumney coos over horns and piano on slinky soul song “Cut Me”; it’s an effective mantra for the album.

Norah Jones - Pick Me Up Off The Floor (Blue Note)
At the time we previewed Norah Jones’ 7th studio album, she had only released a few tracks from it. Turns out the rest was just as powerful. From the blues stomp of “Flame Twin” to the rolling piano stylings of “Hurts to Be Alone”, Pick Me Up Off The Floor is an album full of jazzy orchestrations and soul and gospel-indebted arrangements, Jones’ silky, yearning voice tying together the simple, yet lush and deep instrumentation. And that other Tweedy feature, that closes the album? It’s a heartbreaking portrait of loneliness, one of many on a record that still manages to celebrate being alive all the while. - JM
Tumblr media
Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher (Dead Oceans)
Phoebe Bridgers is a master of details. Her lyrics shine when they get specific. They range from the mundane to morbid: A superfan’s ghost-like wandering under a drugstore’s fluorescent lights, a skinhead likely buried under a blooming garden, reckoning with the you in “Moon Song”’s lines, “You are sick, and you’re married / And you might be dying.” Bridgers has always been able to set a scene meticulously, and Punisher arrived with 11 songs that expanded that skill, both lyrically and musically, with her dark humor intact and a fuller sound that includes her boygenuis collaborators’ harmonies. - LL

PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love: The Demos & Dry - The Demos (Island)
Yes, revisiting Dry’s demos as a separate entity is still worthwhile. Harvey’s powerhouse vocal performance carries the acoustic strummed “Oh My Lover”, while the comparatively minimal arrangement of “Victory” highlights bluesy riffing, call-and-response harmonies, and layered guitar and vocals. The singles, the slinky and sharp “Dress” and propulsive anthem “Sheela-Na-Gig”, hold up to their ultimate studio versions, too. But it’s the To Bring You My Love material that provides novelty because it’s never been released and more so because it encompasses the greatest aesthetic contrast from the album. From the warbling hues and guitar lines of the title track to the tremolo haze of “Teclo” to the crisp snares of “Working With The Man”, the demos show a continuity and level of cohesiveness with the diversity of Dry and Rid of Me not shown on the studio version of Harvey’s more accessible commercial breakout. (Predictably, the album’s most well-known song, “Down by the Water”, is the closest to its eventual version.) “Long Snake Moan” is simultaneously more spacious and more noisy, its garage blues a total contrast to the lurking “I Think I’m A Mother” and swaying shanty “Send His Love To Me”. And “The Dancer” fully embraces its flamenco influences, hand claps and all.

Porridge Radio - Every Bad (Secretly Canadian)
Is there a better opening line than “I’m bored to death, let’s argue”? That kind of duality is found across all of Every Bad as it grapples with the frustrations and anxiety of trying to figure it all out, whatever that might mean for you. “Maybe I was born confused, but I’m not,” vocalist Dana Margolin repeats throughout the opening track, roping in listeners with the dizzying feeling of trying to make sense of yourself. The band’s guitar and synth sound coupled with Margolin’s howl makes for a dance party filled with dread, rendering Margolin’s already strong, repetitive lyrics even more spiraling. And yet, by the time we get to “Lilacs”, a glimmer of something else shines through as the music gets more manic and Margolin’s voice begins to soar: “I don’t want to get bitter / I want us to get better / I want us to be kinder / To ourselves and to each other.” - LL

Sault - Untitled (Rise) & Untitled (Black Is) (Forever Living Originals)
Yes, Black Is still pulls plenty of devastating punches. “Eternal Life”, a segue from the gospel boost of “US”, juxtaposes a deliberate drum beat with zooming synths, both ascending like a chorus of angels, as they sing, “I see sadness in your eye / ‘Cause I know you don’t wanna die,” presenting the oppression of Black life at the hands of white supremacy in inarguable terms. Ultimately, though, it’s the anthemic nature of the songs, resistant of platitudes, that shines through. “Nobody cared / This generation cares,” says Laurette Josiah on “This Generation”. Whether she’s talking about young people in general or the latest generation of young Black leaders, the sentiment is reflected on songs like “Black”, wherein over dynamic, sinewy instrumentation, the singers alternate between encouragement, support, and love of the self and others.

Shamir - Shamir (self-released)
Shamir’s voice is a bright beacon in a sea of conventional singers. Shamir captures the effervescence of pop music and weaves it together with elements of country, alt rock, and diary confessional lyrics all supported by the emotion and range of his vocals. There’s something for everyone across the album’s 11 shimmering tracks. Lead single and opener “On My Own” feels like a declaration of self and self-sufficiency, an anthem of a breakup song. The almost pop-punk bounce of “Pretty When I’m Sad”, paired perfectly with lines like the angst-ridden, “Let’s fuck around inside each other’s heads,” feels impossible to not bop along to. The twang of “Other Side” would put a country crooner to shame. That’s the power of Shamir. His voice has the ability to smoothly convey joy, resilience, and humor. He uses elements of several genres, not just the dance-pop of his debut, to build a unique album that gives listeners so much to sift through and, of course, dance to. - LL

Songhoy Blues - Optimisme (Fat Possum)
If Songhoy Blues’ second album Resistance lacked “the grit of its predecessor,” it’s clear from the hard rock stomp of the opening track of Malian band’s third album Optimisme that they rediscovered their mojo. More importantly, they couple this maximal brashness with tributes to those who make their world a better place: fighters for freedom, women, the young. It’s perhaps the first Songhoy Blues record to truly combine the celebratory nature of their desert blues with a balanced mixture of idealism and vigor. - JM

Spanish Love Songs - Brave Faces Everyone (Pure Noise)
How can you find hope in hopelessness, or optimism when every news story points to cruelty? Is it naïve to keep searching for light in the dark? I don’t think so, and I don’t think Spanish Love Songs does, either. I’d like to think we both believe that’s not naivety, but power. It’s the embers you need to really ignite a flame. After all, this is the band with a song titled “Optimism (As a Radical Life Choice)”. It’s a band whose crunching guitars and earnestness insist that despite death and depression and addiction, the instinct to survive shines brightly above all. That relentless hope resurfaces across Brave Faces Everyone’s 10 tracks even as it works through the bleakness of everyday life. - LL
Tumblr media
Tashi Dorji - Stateless (Drag City)
The magnum opus from the Asheville-based picker is a group of evocatively titled, disorderly songs about the desolate hellscape of America for outsiders and immigrants. Enigmatic in its nature, not exactly narrative, Stateless combines Dorji’s urgent strumming with moody motifs, captured beautifully in a studio setting for maximum emotional wallop. - JM
Tumblr media
Touche Amore - Lament (Epitaph)
Is this what an almost uplifting Touche Amore album sounds like? It’s cathartic in a newer way for the band, especially after the beautifully rendered grief of Stage Four. Lament loses none of the band’s aggression or urgency. “Come Heroine” thrusts listeners into that urgency and introduces a moment of warmth, Jeremy Bolm’s vocals still rasping and insistent: “You brought me in / You took to me / And reversed the atrophy.” The bounciness of “Reminders” may seem close to optimism, but a sharper look at the lyrics uncovers more than blindly looking to the things that bring joy. “I’ll Be Your Host” is reflective, a few years removed from Touche Amore’s previous album and the immediacy of loss, self-aware and growing, but still raw. The album closer, “A Forecast”, takes a turn, a lone voice and piano acting as a confessional before giving way to thrashing guitars and the realization that growth and reckoning with trauma doesn’t mean minimizing it. It means learning to keep moving forward and to stop for help when you may need it. - LL
Tumblr media
Waxahatchee - Saint Cloud (Merge)
The best album yet from Katie Crutchfield is inspired by positive personal change (getting sober, dealing with codependency issues, her blossoming love with singer-songwriter Kevin Morby) and reflections on family and friends. Named after the suburb of Orlando where her father’s from, Saint Cloud is a genre-hopping collection of stories and feelings that doesn’t necessarily follow any semblance of narrative. On opener “Oxbow” and country-tinged ditty “Can’t Do Much”, Crutchfield’s increasingly aware of the need to pick your side and your battles, whether in the relationship between two people or between the allure of the bottle and the next-day hangover. Some of the best songs on the album see her finding commonalities with others as a means towards self-love. Gentle strummer “The Eye” refers to her natural creative relationships with Morby and her sister Allison. “War” she wrote for herself and best friend, who is also sober, the title a metaphor for one’s fight to remain substance-free. “Witches” is an ode to her best friends, including Allison and Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan, all equally frustrated by the toxic nature of the music industry and the world at large, ultimately lifting each other up because they simply have each other.

Kingdom Collisions Part XVI
please explain to me how i started this fic after EotH and we’re now ahead of that fic?? Also don’t kill me? Okay i love you guys enjooyyyy
masterlist; my links
I know it’s been over a month so here’s a previously on:
Prince Jason Grace sets him down by the fire. “Don’t move, I’ll come back for you.”
And then he is gone, and Prince Perseus Jackson smiles. Because that was the voice of the man he fell in love with. And those hands which had brushed against his waist as he let go were as warm and alive as electric currents.
So the destroyer sits by the fire, and waits for his healer to rescue him.
Tumblr media
Come home, don’t die so far from the sea
Percy Jackson can feel the hard press of the wooden floor against his back and he welcomes the pain like an old friend. The darkness of the room feels endless in the cold black of the early morning hours. The fire has long since died, no kindling or wood to keep it alight for however long he stays here. If he didn’t know they planned to kill him at dawn of the coming day he would think they were trying to freeze him to death. It was almost strange how cold he was considering Hanaan was supposed to be in spring, heading towards the warmer months at a rapid pace. He wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t in Piper’s kingdom any longer. Maybe he had been transported to a kingdom of eternal winter.
He remembers a story like it, one his mom had told to the group that met at the children’s library every month. He remembers all the stories his mother had told him, fitting into each other like a tapestry. Just then an icy wind drifts in from under the door making him shiver in the thin cotton clothes. He curls into a ball-any attempt to save his body heat- and closes his eyes to a warmer darkness. His mother’s voice echoes inside him.
“When the world was first created there was only the earth and the sea and the sky and the beings that made these elements up.”
Queen Sally smiled down at the children surrounding her, looking up with sparkling eyes, hanging onto her every word.
There was the Lady of the Ocean, and the Being of the Rivers, and the Wisps of the Sky and the Dancers of the Earth. They lived together in harmony, for they never knew of each others’ existences. But one day the Being of the Rivers met the Lady of the Ocean and they learnt together what love was, and then loved each other. They refused to be apart, they couldn’t bare it; the oceans would thrash in agony, hurting the earth; the rivers would dry up, or form canyons in the ground in rage. It was destructive to keep them apart, for they loved so hard and so fiercely that it became a weakness to the world to separate them. So the beings stayed together, for eons, seasons, lifetimes passing without disruption. And in their time the earth changed and the sky grew rainbows and new elements came into being, things that molded and shaped as they had. Things that would not become clear until there was tangible things to hold them, make them. The day came, uncountable eras into their existence. A Dancer of the Earth had fallen in love with a Wisp of the Sky and together they created one that walks.
“Like us Your Majesty?” A little girl burning with curiosity, curly pigtails swinging slightly in the Mare breeze.
“Just like us Bianca.” His mother had smiled, “With two legs and a wide smile and so much love in their hearts.”
Bianca sighed contentedly as if she had known that first being all her life and looked up to them.
“And with that one being came more and more. As they settled down the need for structure became apparent. Not to control these new beings, but to make sure they had a place to talk about their struggles and to connect them with those who could help. And who better-
His mother had smiled, one of her secret smiles, that meant she knew something she’d beg them to tell her. Half the children around her fell for the bait.
“Whom, your majesty?” A child he had never seen before squeaked, rocking on their heels, knees pulled up to their chest.
“Well the very beings that brought them there.” She giggled, watching as some of their faces scrunched in confusion while others slowly came to the realisation.
The beings of the earth and the rivers and the sky took on a form, as close to the new beings as possible and came to them to offer help, and solace. And that is how the Kingdoms were formed. Mare for water, and Caelum for sky, and Canbaha for earth.
The questions came all at once.
“So the first Kings and Queens were the beings of the world?’
“What happened to the Ocean Lady and the River?”
“Are you a-”
“Alright alright,” The Queen laughed, “One at a time, let’s go around the room shall we?”
The children raised their hands, impatience shaking their little bodies. His mother pointed at Bianca who was right under her gaze.
“What happened to the Lady of the Ocean and the Being of Rivers?”
“Remember how i told you they couldn't ever be separated?”
The gaggle before her nodded enthusiastically eager to show they were listening.
“Well they were the only beings to rule one kingdom together. They decided if they fed one another there was no need to keep themselves apart. Instead of becoming a kingdom of Oceans and  kingdom of Rivers they become the Kingdom of Mare.”
“What about all the other kingdoms?” A small voice piped up, drifting in the sea of mutters.
“Those kingdoms came to be as beings changed and evolved and became something different, something more. The Kingdom of Hanaan appeared first, created by a beautiful person who could change form at will. She knew not of physicality but of emotion. And then the Kingdom of Hekima came, bringing with it prosperous invention and ways to keep the world working better, more beautifully. And then the Kingdom of Xoia-”
Bianca gasped, “Mine!”
“Yours” his mother had smiled, stroking the little girl's head. “Xoia was one of the last to appear but it brought brightness to the world that could not be found or made otherwise.”
“What happened to the beings that ruled, mom?” Percy’s voice was small, like a baby bird learning how to use its beak.
For him she cocked her head, her blue eyes glinting under the candlelight swaying above them. “What do you think Prince?”
Come home, don’t die so far from the sea
Percy awoke to the door creaking open and rough hands digging into his arms as they hauled him up. He doesn’t have the energy to demand where they were taking him. He didn’t have the wits or the power because his brain was slowly coming to realisations he was not ready to have. It was making assumptions he was terrified may be true. It was shattering his world for the billionth time. It was breaking him.
The world is still dark, but it is not that heavy blackness that seems to suck him in. It is the kind of dark that tells you the light was winning; that soon you will see pinpricks of white and yellow and gold poking through the sky and then the world will be awash in colour once more.
He is thrown onto the grey-stoned floor, hiding his wince as his knees take the brunt of it. The people who had deposited him laugh and walk away. He doesn’t bother to call after them, instead taking in the surroundings. He is in an arena. In a colosseum. He is the lamb offered up to the butcher. He is the prey stuck in a hunter’s snare. He is the entertainment.
He can picture it now; crowds stomping into the stone stands and chanting for his death. He can imagine the painter sat in the box only one lower from the royalty, slapping colour onto a canvas, swirling it in the shades of his blood. He can imagine the musicians in the box just below the painter, banging on their drums, letting the beautiful notes of a flute be the anthem to his downfall. He can imagine his husband, standing in the box above all, looking down at him with those eyes of lightning. Eyes he had woken up to when Jason’s nightmares were so bad they had to sit by his window. About that blonde hair, like strands of sunlight, he has so often wanted to run his hands through, how he mourned its discolouring when their blood coated it.  About those hands that held him when they were captured and freed him so they weren’t. And he wonders, if the Prince will miss him.
Because, he realises with startling radiant clarity, somewhere in the mess that had become their lives Percy had grown to care for the Prince of Caelum. He doesn’t really know when it started; maybe when he found Jason screaming outside the door to the Captain of the Guards’ chamber; or maybe when Percy had sought him out some nights later, and held him as he cried; or maybe when Jason let him be a part of the kingdom by giving him a white rose. He can’t be sure it wasn’t a combination of all those things. He sits on the cold platform in the middle of the arena and finds himself sad, achingly sad, that he will never get that time with his husband. That he will never get to tell the Prince how he feels.
The sun rises slowly, as if trying to delay the inevitable, but Percy embraces it, letting the warmth of the final tomorrow caress his brown skin. If it is the last time he feels the sun, he wishes to do nothing but feel it. The rays are gentle on his face and he can only imagine it’s what Jason’s touch would have felt like. He sits cross-legged, chin to the sky, eyes closed to the array of colours and lets the last joys of this world embrace him.
The wrought iron gates underneath the raised stands shake and rattle, but he doesn’t open his eyes. He doesn’t know what beasts await him; he doesn’t care. Let them come, he thinks, it will be a mercy to rest at last. The crowds pour in, his people who he was set to rule one day, Jason’s people who he was set to protect one day. Still he keeps himself shut off from the world, feeling the sun, and the wind.
If he had loved anything at all he had loved the wind, the way it chased his ankles, and swept him up, and raced him, and held him, and danced with him, and coaxed him. It was a tragedy, a heartbreaking thought, that he hadn’t gotten to see his ocean one last time. He would have loved to feel the cool water on his skin, and the sand sinking under his feet. He wishes he had more time. He wants this to be over as soon as possible. Time is up.
“Good morning my people,” A voice like ancient beings and newborns croons across the colosseum. “Are you ready to witness history?”
Percy thinks of his mother, the keeper of stories, and knows she has already heard this one. Percy thinks of his father, who has returned to the beginning. He knows his parents will not come to save him. Percy thinks of his childhood friends, all leading secret lives, forged to end his own. He knows they will be in the stands to watch their victory. Percy thinks of his husband, a soldier for an army they could never have predicted. He knows they will never learn how to love one another.
The crowd is screaming, the wrought iron is rattling. Prince Perseus Jackson opens his eyes as the gate yawns open.
The arena is deafening, shaking with anticipation. He glances to the royal box nearly floating in the clouds and frowns when he doesn’t spot a flash of blonde hair.
The people are feral with excitement. A loud boom echoes from the musicians box.
Prince Jason Grace stumbles from the mouth of the arena and falls to his knees in front of the platform.
“Kill him Perseus.” A voice glimmers around him, leaking in through the ringing in his ears.
“Come home Prince,” That voice lilts, “Do not die so far from the sea.”
Jason looks up at him, blue eyes hazy, a dagger loose in his clasp. “Hello Prince.”
Percy steps down from the platform, and takes the dagger from his husband’s hands. It is almost sickening how easily he gives it over.
The crowd stomps its feet: they are ready for blood; they are ready for slaughter.
He holds the dagger up, making sure it glints in the sun. And then he draws his husband close until there is nothing between their bodies, not space, not even air.
“Let’s go home my love.” He whispers. “We will not die so far from the sea.”
Prince Perseus Jackson brings the blade down.

The Academy Award® winner about star-crossed love that spans the years – and the globe. After her triumph as the lunchroom temptress in the crime classic The Postman Always Rings Twice, Lana Turner expanded her range with Green Dolphin Street. Set in 19th century Europe and New Zealand, this sweeping romance tells the story of two beautiful sisters, one headstrong (Turner) and one gentle (Donna Reed), and of the man (Richard Hart) who marries one even though he loves the other. The film’s riptides of emotion are matched by breathtaking physical tumult: a fierce Maori uprising plus a catastrophic earthquake and tidal wave that earned the film a 1947 Oscar® for special effects. With its dramatic story and spectacular visuals, Green Dolphin Street drew huge audiences for epic moviemaking, being one of the top-ten box office hits of the year.

The job – a career breakthrough – is supposed to go to hoofer Johnny Brett, but a mix-up in names gives it to his partner. Another example of Broadway hopes dashed? Not when Johnny is played by Fred Astaire. Sparkling Cole Porter songs, clever comedy and dance legends Astaire and Eleanor Powell make the final Broadway Melody (co-starring George Murphy) a film to remember. Powell’s nautical “All Ashore" routine (a/k/a I Am the Captain”), Astaire’s blissful “I’ve Got My Eyes on You” and Fred & Eleanor's elaborate routine to Cole Porter's classic "I Concentrate On You" are more than enough to please any fan. But they’re just a warm-up for the leads to tap one finale number into immortality: “Begin the Beguine,” introduced by Frank Sinatra in That’s Entertainment! with, “You can wait around and hope, but you’ll never see the likes of this again.”

The star of Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day headlines and codirects this uproarious Big Apple heist-and-pursuit caper. Bill Murray plays Grimm, a frazzled urbanite who disguises himself as a clown – and sets out to rob a bank. Geena Davis and Randy Quaid play accomplices in Grimm’s daring scheme and Jason Robards is the blustery cop caught up in Grimm’s “Clown Day Afternoon.” Swiping a million bucks is a snap compared to getting out of town. Grimm and cohorts commandeer a car, a cab, a bus, a baggage tram and a plane (and encounter future stars Stanley Tucci and Tony Shalhoub in hilarious supporting roles) to make what becomes a less-than-merry escape. But for comedy lovers, Quick Change is a ticket to ride!

Framed for manslaughter after he breaks a story about city corruption, reporter Frank Ross is sure he’ll prove his innocence and walk out of prison a free man. But that’s not how the system works at Rocky Point Penitentiary. There, cellblock guards are vicious, the jute-mill labor is endless, and the powers Ross fought on the outside conspire to keep him in. Frank’s hope is turned to hopelessness. And he’s starting to crack. Two of the screen’s famed tough guys star in this prison movie that casts a reform-minded eye on the brutalizing effects of life in the slammer. James Cagney “hits a white-hot peak as [Ross,] the embittered, stir-crazy fall guy” (Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide). And George Raft (Cagney’s friend since their vaudeville days) portrays racketeer Hood Stacey, who may hold the key to springing Ross.

A birthday – make that boithday – party that some of da boys hold for infant Nick Jr. is part of the fun in this third film in the witty series. The case begins when the Charles family arrives for a weekend with a Long Island industrialist who fears someone wants to kill him. Sure enough, his fears come true. Nick (William Powell) is among the suspects. Asta scrams with what may be the murder weapon. And Nora (Myrna Loy) has her own ideas about the case and sneaks off to a nightclub to ferret out a clue. “Madam, how long have you been leading this double life?” Nick asks. “Just since we’ve been married,” she replies.

bunny! hope you're staying healthy and happy. what would your dream bts concert setlist be? let's say you can choose from all eras and solos
Hi! This is a great (and torturous!) question, and nice distraction for me rn. Okay I may forget a few songs here and it’ll be painful leaving some out but let’s have a go. Going with their LY tour (roughly) 24 song setlist, I’ll pick that many. Also I’m soooo picking from mixtapes for the solos too 😁. The order is random 🥺
Boy With Luv (always a fun one 😁, and for the sake of having a title track oops haha)
21st Century Girls (when Yoongi sings ALL MY LADIESSS PUT YOUR HANDS UP NOW SCREAM, my panties will drop as I (s)cream, also the choreo is so fun 😂)
Outro: Wings (I will love it forever 🥺)
Just One Day (in love with how sweet the lyrics are and just this whole song and choreo in general 🥰)
I Like It (this is one of my fave performances of theirs! The flirtiness ahhhhhhh I feel the way the audience is reacting haha, also please see Part 2 because the  smoothness of it damnnnn)
My Time (because duhh, I NEED to see that sexy shit in person 😁)
Miss Right (another fave performance of mine 🥴, and THE LYRICS ughhh my weak romantic heart 🥰🥰🥰, I’m so sad the original higher quality vid of this got blocked by BigHit, the ones from other angles just aren’t right 🥺)
Serendipity (I’m in love with Jimin performing this 🥰, also the vibes in concert for this would be amazing 🥰)
Boyz With Fun (NO WORDS. JUST PURE FUN)
Attack on Bangtan (Tae growling, Jungkook’s voice, Yoongi’s rapping, the whole ENERGY)
Beapsae (yep, want front row seats to this one in particular, also HOLY FUCK HAVE YOU SEEN THE JAPANESE VERSION THEIR VOICES ARE SUPER SEXY AKSFASNFJGAHK)
Autumn Leaves (too good to not add)
Epiphany (My fave of his solos 🥰🥰🥰, I want to hear THAT note live and be all emotional and caught up in my feelings 🥺😭)
Singularity (it was between this or Sweet Night 🥺, I guess my hard stan side and the devil within Kim Taehyung won 😁)
Deachwita (IMAGINE!!!!)
Moonchild (Omg I’d be an emotional wreck but I need to see this or anything from Mono live 🥺)
P.O.P (my fave track off Hopeworld 😁)
House of Cards (sexy time begins, starting with this 😁)
Dimple (oof, enough said 😈)
Pied Piper (the sexiest song of them all 😁, even more so with the lyrics added and Jungkook looking at me like that 🥵🥵🥵)
Blood, Sweat and Tears (obviously this has to be here)
Ddaeng (WE NEED MORE OF THIS MASTERPIECE)
Outro: Tear (with Hobi in his iconic Dior outfit, please and thank you)
Spring Day (emotional hours open, one of my top Bangtan songs always, the queen herself 🥰)
Blue and Grey (this one has a special place in my heart right now)
Best of Me (always hits me in the feels, this particular one was always a fave performance of mine, sadly the actual one is blocked in my country now 😭)
Paradise (one of those we may never hear live at this point 😭😭)
Stay (LOVE LOVE LOVE 🥰)
Dis-ease (yasssssssss, it’s necessary)
Answer: Love Myself (🥺💜)
WAB: The Eternal (😭💜)
Okayyy I may have gone overboard haha but it was too fun 😁. I also want to give mentions to the ones I wanted to add but left out, Blanket Kick, Anpanman, Otsukare, Euphoria, Coffee, I Like It Part 2, Run (the alternative version),  Tomorrow, Dynamite, Love Maze, Heartbeat, Your Eyes Tell, Black Swan, Not Today (my anthem), aaahhhhh I may as well list their whole discography because every song is a hit 😁.

march rewind: 2021
music.
ateez. just everything and anything ateez. i am officially an atiny. all of their tracks. the music videos, all their variety show contents. i am here for it all. 10 out of 10 would recommend diving in and enjoying all that they have to offer. it’s been a great time.
Tumblr media
‘rollin’' by brave girls. of course this needed to make it’s way onto my playlist, as it is currently the national anthem of korea. it’s crazy to see a song that has been out for a hot minute make such an impact on the charts. their vocals are so strong, and i am surprised i have not heard of them really before this event. but the song is great, and is best experienced when driving on the highway sung with friends at the top of your lungs.
‘run’ by sorn. this girl is also making moves and i love that she is able to do what she loves. you can truly see how much she loves singing and performing in the music video. and i cannot wait until the day that these artists will be able to perform to their hearts content and see fans in real life again. on to the track, the vibe is so different from previous clc tracks and i love that for her. its a chill cute fresh vibe, and it fits her so well. i also love the cover art for her start as a individual artist. i further watched her behind the scenes and this girl is a queen and curated this all herself with her friends. what a wonderful story to see all that perseverance can create.
Tumblr media
‘on the ground’ by rose. our queen had a tremendous comeback and we are proud of our girl. i love that she was able to release the track in a language she wanted and it was unexpected to me at least that it was in english, not only the main track but also her b-side, ‘gone’ (also love). it was great, and i love the creative choreography, and truly appreciate that her dancers had their own fancams.
‘b.l.t. (bling like this)’ by treasure. it’s fun. we already love bang ye dam’s vocals and when i heard this track as the outro for a youtube video i had to investigate. it’s cute, bright and cheerful. love it.
korean indie.
fam this genre may have it’s own category this month because it has been owning my playlist:
‘ohio’ by hyukoh.
‘jam & butterfly (feat. crush & eaJ)’ by dpr live. this song is literal honey. the vibes the tone in their voices. these three vocals just mesh so well together, and i am obsessed with this track.
youtube
dept. recently discovered this incredible artist. i have been loving ‘2 years’ feat soon zero, ‘summer again’ feat saula, and ‘even after july’ feat kuro. seriously his tone is something else.
‘home sweet home’ by car, the garden.
dramas & movies. *spoiler alert*
space sweepers. finally got around to watching this stellar sci-fi film. i enjoyed the plot with the dystopian-utopian future, unique and likely crew of friends, and the most precious gem of ‘potential destruction’. if you haven’t jumped aboard this one i would 10 out fo 10 recommend. plus it has our man song joongki as one of the leads.
Tumblr media
love alarm season 2. sooooo season two was a journey that i did not expect. i like suho. i was so conflicted. i waited thinking the writers would fix the wrongs in season one. but here we are suho broken hearted without jojo. my heart is aching and shattered because of the travesty that is upon us. i think there was supposed to be a deeper meaning when she was running through the conquered forest she once wanted to escape so desperately, and they she finally embraced her old self. and hye-yeong was waiting for her at the end of the race. but i was just so sour about the situation with suho i neglected to see the other meanings present at that point. this whole season was truly a joke on me/us as viewers because it was wack. i did not expect to see suho as the second male lead. like honey, he can be first male lead in my life any time he wants. okay but back to the drama, it was okay not what i wanted but it was good and well made. so i guess i’d give it a 7.5 out of 10. still mad at this point.
Tumblr media
koi wa tsuzuku yo dokomademo (love that lasts forever). this was a sweet japanese drama. following our sweet girl, sakura, as a aspiring nurse having running into the great doctor, tendo. he is stoic and shows no heart in his work as a cardiac physician. she approaches him and eventually makes her way into his heart. their relationship is sweet. i would rate this a 8 out of 10. i appreciate the way that japanese dramas develop and the sweet level of romance that permeates the entire drama.
Tumblr media
sunbae don’t put on that lipstick. the perfect office romance for early spring. of course i added this one to my two watch list after seeing rowoon was a part of this cast. after ‘extraordinary you’ i have been invested in his acting journey and this drama did not disappoint. this drama follows a office worker, songah, who is secretly dating her manager. her younger hoobae, chae hyunseung has a crush on her from afar, and soon stumbles upon their manager planning a wedding with his fiancé, not our girl mind you. this leads to a string of events that empowers our dude to gain courage to become outspoken with his feelings for songah. we get to follow the blossoming of their relationship and the events that ensue thereafter. hyunseung had the best lines in this drama.
sunbae. you can take your time. but if you come to me i’ll show you the most beautiful love ever.
you don’t have to risk anything sunbae. i’ll risk it all for you.
and i love how the drama ends with them saying how they want to experience everything together
let’s see cherry blossoms in the spring. ocean in the summer. leaves in the autumn. and snow in the winter...every year.

Luna, Ash, and Willow for that ask thing!
KDFHGLDHG RJ!!! Thank you for enabling me to talk about my fankids, this is gonna be a long ass post, let’s go!!!!!!!!
1.) 2-4 songs that are probably on their iPod:
Luna: I am definitely just taking songs from the playlist @athetos made for Luna, so “Ghost” “Numb” “Perfect” “Stuck in the Mud” Classic angsty teen anthems
Willow: She listens to a bunch of indie artists I can feel it. “Creature Fear” by Bon Iver, “Backwards Walk” Frightened Rabbit, “Skinny Love” the Birdy cover. A soft baby.
Ash: I feel like Ash isn’t actually a big music person. He maybe has a few tunes that catch his attention but doesn’t have ‘playlists’ per say. He likes instrumentals/scores more than lyrical music, pop ballads and what not
2.) the one place they sometimes end up falling asleep – where they’re not supposed to:
Luna: Probably the roof....mfhgksdhgkl I like to think she literally climbs Bright Moons towers to sulk on the rooftops and watch sunsets and sunrises and such. But she also definitely just falls asleep on the shingles--hundreds of feet above the ground.
Willow: Not sure there’s anywhere she’d ever be forbidden from falling asleep? But perhaps on nights she’s anxious, she slips out of her house and falls asleep in Plumeria’s flower patches. Maybe a tree if she wants to see the stars better.
Ash: Not necessarily forbidden, again, but Luna’s room. Falls asleep in weird, cat like places like her closet or underneath the bed, or on top of the canvas. Beyond that, when traveling, I imagine he likes to also climb into a good tree--when he’s not curled up with Melog.
3.) the game they'd destroy everyone else at:
Luna: Chess (or the Etherian equivelant). Luna is smart and actually enjoys strategy games, and I think chess would be the one thing that would get her to slow down and process her choices before making them.
Willow: I get the vibes that Willow is very good at Monopoly. She’s so quiet that no one notices she’s taken over the entire board until there’s nowhere to run.
Ash: Black jack or hide-and-seek (if it’s a game other than like... a board game) Also Uno, he’s got card games on lock.
4.) the emoticon they’d use most often:
Luna: 💖 <--she stole this one from Glimmer
Willow: A combo pack of 🙏🏻😌
Ash: 🥵 because it freaks the other two out
5.) what they act like when they haven’t had enough sleep:
Luna: Cranky, prone to tears and emotional break downs. But like Adora before her, refuses to sleep out of absolute stubborn pride that her body shouldn’t stop until she says it can.
Willow: More reserved than usual if she doesn’t get enough sleep (not that that ever happens) Less inclined to follow along with her friends antics. Also a mite grumpy.
Ash: Forget show to speak in anything other than hisses and growls. His sleeplessness is 100% visible in how he carries himself. Sluggish and grumpy.
6.) their preferred hot beverage on really cold nights. or mornings. or whenever:
Luna: Undoubtedly hot chocolate or something similar. Both her moms have a sweet tooth, she did not escape it.
Willow: Tea! Of probably many varieties, but because I’m biased, her favorite is Chamomile.
Ash: This is a hot cider kid, through and through.
7.) how they like to comfort/care for themselves when they’re in a slump:
Luna: Despite her angst, Luna definitely does better when with other people if she’s in a slump. If she was truly feeling down, she’d spend the day just doing something lazy with her friends. Watching movies, reading/telling stories, playing games--they never leave her room. Extended sleepover. As a younger kid/baby, hanging with the moms achieved the same effect ;;; particularly getting she-ra piggyback rides.
Willow: She goes all out with a nice bath, floral scents, candles, followed by meditation and relaxing stretches.
Ash: He takes walks--let’s himself absorb nature and the larger world. Melog always goes with him. A comforting presence, therapy pet style but---giant panther creature.
7.) what they wanted to be when they grew up:
Luna: The next She-Ra. The responsibility of the role has never really hit her, she just wants to be a super kickass magical warrior Princess. Queen is okay too...
Willow: She just wants to do/be whatever will most help her people/ the people of Etheria. She doesn’t actually like traveling much beyond Bright Moon and Plumeria. Her future is a little foggy, but she’s not too pressed about it, her moms are calm and gently guide her through any uncertainties anyway.
Ash: Mostly he just wants to travel and explore and adventure. Wherever that takes him, or whatever it leads him to become--he’s okay with!
8.) their favorite kind of weather:
Luna: Cold months, when snow falls and she can curl up in front of the fireplace. When the world goes still and quiet and the existential thoughts fully settle in.
Willow: Spring!! New life, not too hot! All the animals come out of hiding, the flowers bloom. the air is crisp, the sun is out longer... Peaceful vibes.
Ash: Summer time. The sun is always warm, meaning there are plenty of moments to catch a catnap. Beyond that, he likes not having to deal with snow or rain.
9.) thoughts on their singing voice (decent? terrible? soprano? alto?)
Luna: She’s a decent singer. but you’d never know it from the way she caterwauls in the shower.
Willow: Beautiful voice! Often too shy to show it though...She picked up playing ukulele to write songs and play for Luna (who is always wildly impressed)
Ash: This boy cannot sing.
10.) how/what they like to draw or doodle:
Luna: she drew so many pictures as a child. Wild stick figure scenes, self portraits, her friends and family, retraced the murals in Bright Moon. Stopped drawing once she hit her teens and has not since, but she can.
Willow: Doodles hearts and flowers in her diary, beyond that, she sometimes does like ‘life studies; of the flowers around Plumeria. She’s good! But doesn’t show off her talent.
Ash: Ash doesn’t really draw. But I imagine he crafts/carves, which is an artistic talent in and of itself. He might doodle the occasional rune or something into something he creates, but beyond that...
THANK YOU!!
