Hey folks! Soooo I made a comic project about me and my partner's experience as a binational couple during the travel ban between Schengen countries and the US as a reaction to the pandemic, that lasted between early 2020 and late 2021... Since this is a topic very dear to me and I want to raise awareness for it. I submitted it as a contest piece for Belgian comic contest Prix Raymond Leblanc this year. Alright folks! We have one week left on submissions for the Hot Vintage TV Men's Bracket! Also in advance of the competition I'd like to remind anyone submitting propaganda for someone that starred in a show that aired only partially during our timeframe or was under 18 for a part of a shows filming, to please make sure you are only submitting propaganda that is from within our timeframe and when the actor was 18 years or older. This is also just good to keep in mind in general as several people submitted actors for shows that aren't eligible for our tournament either because it was outside our time period or in one case the actor was underaged for the entirety of the show (though many were eligible for other shows they were submitted for). We do our best to screen for these things but sometimes it's hard to tell or it’s a show we don't personally know well enough so we appreciate help from y'all letting us know if you do catch anything.

This Day in X-Project - July 24

2015: Jubilee posts that there is a Movie Night for tomorrow. John goes to find Amanda after she failed to meet up with him an hour prior. Alison posts that someone let slip that she isn’t in Florida and that her manager is freaking out and that she will be in Florida to make some appearances. Different Breed: Jean-Paul discovers his blackmailer, Phillippe Leblanc’s fate; his former guardian, Raymonde, is unimpressed by the way he is handling things and decides to assist.

2016: Laurie posts, looking for her cat, Crookshanks.

2017: Amanda makes a journal entry wishing Angelo a happy 31st birthday.

It all started with a verbal misunderstanding that led to the creation of a song. And then a music video.

And now a 16-foot-tall snow sculpture by Marc LeBlanc, also known as Marc à Paul à Jos, says he wrote the song "The Elephant from Neguac" after visiting New Brunswick and running into a resident who recognized him.

During their chat, "she actually asked if I had gone to see Hays Island, or L'île aux Foins," he said.

But LeBlanc thought he heard the French pronunciation of the word elephant—l'éléphant.

LeBlanc said he eventually figured out that there wasn't an elephant in the village, but he thought it was a funny story and decided to write a song about it.

He released a music video, produced by Les Frères Breau, on Dec. 19, which follows LeBlanc on a comical search to find this elephant.

In the video, a purple elephant is seen taking a selfie in front of Neguac's oyster sculpture, hiding behind the village's lighthouse, and eating ice cream from the Neguac Dairy Bar.

The video drew the attention of Neguac residents and people as far away as France.

Neguac Mayor Georges Savoie said LeBlanc's song quickly caught on in the village.

Chez Raymond began selling "elephant ears" in honor of the song, a dish of fried dough coated in cinnamon and sugar.

And that's where the ice elephant comes in. The village of Neguac came up with the idea of making it and getting LeBlanc to perform in front of it.

Enter sculptor Jean-Pascal Brideau of Caraquet, a 16-foot-tall purple elephant out of snow.

Brideau said the sculpture took him about eight days to make. He painted it purple to match the elephant in LeBlanc's music video. 

Brideau said it was to sculpt amid the recent rain and freezing temperatures. He used a chainsaw rather than his usual shovel to shape the snow, but it was well worth it.

And now, the elephant sculpture is drawing more visitors to Neguac. LeBlanc will perform in front of the elephant sculpture at 11 a.m. on Feb. 4, and there's no doubt it will be a big night in the small village.

There's one final note to this story. Carole MacKnight, a resident of Neguac, said the sculpture is spreading joy in the community during a time of frustration and sadness after two long-term care homes were abruptly forced to close.

My latest addition to my Tintin collection has just arrived! 

This is the original soundtrack for Belvision Studios’ Tintin et le Temple Du Soleil (1969, Lateste). It features 4 tracks. Side 1 includes ‘Danse de Jauga’ and ‘Chanson de Zorrino’. Side 2 includes ‘Generique’ (the opening credits) and ‘Ode a la Nuit’. 

The soundtrack was composed and directed by François Rauber, who would later compose Leblanc’s Tintin et le Lac aux Requins in 1972. The songs were written by famous Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel.

The animation in this Tintin movie isn't bad, the writing is fairly clever, and in the first twenty minutes there was one song that I thought was pretty good, though the voice actor was not a good singer. The acting is actually the worst part of this movie (my copy was dubbed into English.) The voices aren't quite right, and they use bad takes frequently. Other than that, it is definitely watchable.
