some fans organized a q&a with ron nyswaner earlier today using twitter space and it was so lovely! he offered some great new insights so i’d definitely recommend to try and find some of the things he said on twitter if you want to know what was being said, because some fans have been tweeting about it! :)

i’ll try to add some things i remember him saying to this post:

- ron talked about the scene in episode 8 where tim tells hawk to go home, and hawk says “it’s not…” and he never finishes his sentence. ron explained that hawk did this because he didn’t want to burden tim. he was gonna say something along the lines of “it’s not what you think it is” (meaning — he goes home to nothing, since lucy had left him). he didn’t want tim to change his plans for him. so that’s beautiful growth in my opinion!

- ron reaaaally loves hawk and he’s so real for that

- ron talked about hawk breaking up with tim. about that it wasn’t just cruel and convenient, but he was also protecting tim. but his big dilemma is that he loves tim. he fears his love for tim. ron also talked about that scene in episode 1 where hawk tells tim to lock the door behind him. he explained that hawk wanted to protect tim from himself, he didn’t want to repeat what happened with kenny.

- ron talked about a deleted scene between marcus and hawk where they talk about how they first met. they met when they were both wounded during the war. if i remember correctly he said it was something about hawk looking at marcus from behind a curtain in the hospital bed. and the dialogue in the scene was something along the lines of hawk saying “i thought you were jerking off” and marcus replying “you hoped”.

- he talked about seeing many people talk about possibly deleted scenes from the beach scene in episode 7. he said the scene wasn’t longer or whatever than what we saw. (i don’t remember this exactly, so i could be wrong!)

- he talked about being a practical writer and constantly wanting to move the story forward (i believe?) so for example that’s why he made the choice to let hawk have a scar. so tim could ask about it and they could have a conversation about it.

- he said his favorite time period was the 70’s because it was relatable for him, and he loved the way the characters looked during the 60’s (especially tim).

- he and jonny had a long conversation about tim’s faith and jonny said that tim’s faith was his anchor.

- he talked about his favorite scenes from each time period. from the 80’s it’s the scene of tim and hawk in the hospital bed, from the 70’s it’s the scene where hawk has a breakdown and tim comforts him & the conversation at the pool, from the 60’s it’s the ending scene where they stare at each other when tim leaves because of the yearning and from the 50’s i’m honestly not sure anymore! maybe someone else can remember :) edit lol I remember again: i think it’s the scene where tim and hawk argue at the cozy corner in episode 1 about their beliefs.

i might add more to this because i’m trying to remember all the things he talked about!

With pearly white wings and a halo of gold, you were a disciple in heaven’s endless library. Duty bound to organize records and histories of paradise and its worlds below. Though you’d never looked within those records, just being in their presence gave you curiosity about your god’s creations all the same.

Once every hundred or so years in your infinite lifespan, you sought to venture into the human realm before returning to your celestial duty. It was an odd request to your peers. None were as interested in mortals as you so each visit was a lonely affair. You never stayed more than an hour or two, merely observing how they had changed from a favored seat in the clouds above, lest someone spotted you. It was only meant to be a short trip as always. This time something felt different.

In the quaint seaside town you were fond of visiting, you'd sensed a devil and dared to investigate. Of course, you'd never met one, so you had no idea what that uneasy feeling even was until your feet touched the ground for the very first time.

The devil seemed to be asleep in a field of blossoms, butterflies fluttering about. Spring was always in full bloom when you descended to earth. Pastel pink hair blended with the flowers, only making the black horns atop his head and the symbols scrawled along his arms stand out even more.

You approached with caution and curiosity. Though they were meant to be your sworn enemy, heaven's few rumors about devils already appeared untrue. The fauna and flora around him weren't withered and rotting, but full of life. He didn't smell of burning flesh, nor was he covered head to toe in the blood of his victims. If anything, his form seemed almost angelic.

He opened his eyes as you came closer, and their sky blue color welcomed you further. "Ah, could I be dreaming? Or has an angel come to rescind my eternal punishment?" he spoke wryly. 

"Nay, devil. I want no trouble from you," you said in response, caught off guard by his casual, relaxed greeting. You took a few fearful steps away when he rose to lean back on his hands.

"Hmm... You have some holy divination or blessing to bestow upon this land, I assume. I've no intention of interfering." He smiled up at you, and those angelic features seemed even more prominent. Were it not for the pointed tail swishing with vigor behind him, you'd think this devil was one of your own.

"There's no mission I've been given," you explained with a shake of your head, "I'm only here to observe my god's world for a few moments, out of my own curiosity."

"Fascinating. I've never known angels to take interest in mortal affairs before their passing. Then, if no duty calls for thee—" he stopped to pluck a white bud that hadn't quite fully bloomed from the sea around him. "Might you grace me with your divine visage for one moment longer, little angel? I've called earth my home for millennia—and damnation is dreadfully boring. I could help with those curiosities, if you so desire." He held the bud out to you as an offering.

Though his words sounded sincere, you felt unsure. “...Do you take me to be so naive? I know your kind favor trickery.”

“I only offer my companionship,” he gave an innocent shrug. That heavenly smile was still fixed on you.

Your eyes darted between his outstretched hand and his face. Eventually, you took the flower from him. You could sense no ill intent on their part, so it wouldn't hurt to stay a little while. Nonetheless, you’d do your best to stay on guard.

The sun dipped lower in the sky as you lost track of time. Ren, you learned, knew far more of humans than you ever imagined. Your interest in them grew with each story he told of the world. At his urging, you'd gone to the beach to wander up close among them. It was a bit of a struggle to prepare—you'd never been told that your wings could retract or your halo could be hidden. But he coached you through it, not so much as flinching at the sting of divine power when you accidentally hit his arm with a wing on the first try. For a devil, he was oddly knowledgeable of things beyond his damned realm.

“You said your visits were always over in the late morning. So you haven’t seen this time of day, have you?” he asked as you both walked along the shore, waves glittering in gentle reds and pinks you’d never known the sun to make.

“I haven’t seen this terrain either.” Even with the occasional pausing stares of young children and animals—the only beings who could see your true form, as they were without sin—you were thrilled at the new experiences you were having. Your footsteps painted the sand rather unevenly compared to his. It was impossible to get used to the sinking feeling, nor the coarse sand getting into your sandals. You laughed at the sensation. “Heaven is all clouds and gardens. Here… it’s so different. The sun shines differently. But it’s still just as beautiful.”

He took your hand in his to keep you steady, pulling you towards the water’s edge. They were all too comfortable with the action, but you didn't spare it a thought. The guard you were meant to keep up had been thrown aside long ago. “I’m honored to show you such new experiences. And I only hope to give you more.” Ren’s face was bathed in a heavenly glow as he guided you into the water. 

It was a stark contrast. The once warm sand turned to a bracing cold, almost slimy texture as the water slowly rose up to your waist. You raised your other hand up high to avoid it, still clutching the late blooming bud he’d picked for you.

The pink-haired devil brought you to a stop and nodded out at the setting sun with an unreadable look, “I’m sure you won’t be able to take your eyes away from it. I couldn’t, my first time seeing the sun disappear.” At his suggestion you turned your head to watch, barely aware of the way their tail wrapped around your hips to keep you close.

It was captivating as the sun began to fall further beyond the horizon, the hues of the day gradually shifting both in the sky and sea before your eyes. Golds, reds, pinks, and purples all chased after the light, leaving behind a blue as cold as the water felt. In what seemed like an instant, it was over too soon—not a trace left of the glorious sun that never set back in the heavens you called home. Strangely enough, your body tensed with heavy feelings. As if you were saying goodbye to a part of you. You stood staring out at the graying ocean for a long while, until the cold water lapping against your skin felt no different from the air.

“How was it?” he gently broke the silence. You felt his hand move to rest over your own, cradling the flower still between your fingers. The heat of his touch guided you to meet his gaze.

“Breathtaking, I think,” you whispered with a frown as you looked up at him. “And a bit sad? All that warmth disappeared—I’m not sure how to feel.”

“Breathtaking as the sun is, you’ll find on earth that some flowers show their true beauty without its watchful eye, my little angel,” he said to reassure you. The bud in your shared grasp opened slowly at his words, its tapered white petals unfurling to reveal pale lavender edges as the sky darkened further. His fingers traced behind your ear before he tucked the flower among the strands of your hair, seeming to admire it. “You’d never have known if you’d only stayed those few moments.”

You searched his eyes as his hand lingered at your cheek. Just as when you first met, there was no malice in their voice. A devil who appreciated your god’s work felt unheard of. From Ren's intense gaze he looked as if he revered them. He must've been a kindred soul—or the equivalent of a soul in demons. You wanted to know more about him as well, not just mortals. 

Their fangs gleamed in the faint moonlight when you quietly asked, “What else can you show me?”

L = Location (favorite places to do the do) Bed, for both pre and post-outbreak. Pre-outbreak, I feel like he’d be a little adventurous and get you into the backseat of his truck as most. Post-outbreak, I think he’s a little (a lot) more cautious and prefers the confines of your house. 

M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going) YOU! Quite literally everything about his partner. From the sway of your hips, the curve of your neck, your eyes, lips, nose, hands, thighs, voice, tone, words, EVERYTHING! 

N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs) I think he goes as far as his partner is comfortable, so anything that makes you feel uncomfortable is a no for him. Also, scorching-hot take apparently, but he would NOT share (especially with his brother tf.)

O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.) He’s such a man so he loves to receive, right, we get that, but when he gives…? Stars. Five stars, actually. Tens across the board. Gold metal. Top of the chart. And like I mentioned before, he’s practically studying your body and your reactions to see what to do correctly, so every time it’s like he gains more and more power. 

P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.) Depends? Depends. Pre-outbreak, he’s such a killer and prefers to pick up the pace and have fun while also mixing in slow and sensual nights. Post-outbreak, like I said, I think it’s majorly slow and sensual. But, maybe if he’s stressed or frustrated with the commune, or just needing a little quickie, then he’ll pick up the pace. 

Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.) Like I said before, quickies are rare post-outbreak. Maybe pre-outbreak they were just as rare? A little more often in comparison, when he just can’t get enough of you before he has to leave for work or something like that. 

R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.) I think I’ve clarified what I think already, Tommy had to mature a lot post-outbreak. Not saying he wasn’t already mature, he was a grown man, but his want to experiment is gone. Like before, maybe he was down for a quickie in the backseat of his truck. Now, with the infected, his number one priority is keeping you safe. He can’t do that when he’s caught with his pants down, y’know? 

S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?) He’s a military man, he’s a carpenter, he’s got some stamina. He can go a while, depending on the night. Some nights after long days of working with Joel on framing a house, he just wants to rest. Other nights, you seem like one of those Super Mario 1-Up mushrooms because he’s sprung back to life (in more than one way). 

T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?) He’s such an ass omg— If you had any toys and he found them, he’d be so fussy and pouty saying that he can do even better than the toys do for you, and he’s right! 

U = Unfair (how much they like to tease) Oh. My. God. If there’s one thing that stayed, it’s how much he teases. He’s so the type to be walking past you, pull you in for a kiss, and keep walking past while you’re itching for more. Once he’s got you in bed, he’s even worse me thinks. And when he sees you weak in the knees, holding onto him, he just calls it his “southern charm.”

V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.) He groooaaannnssss. I just know it. Source: trust me and my delusions. I feel like certain moves or flicks of tongues could drive a whimper out of him-- which he will sternly deny ever happened. 

W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character) He got painfully hard when he taught you how to shoot his guns. He took you out to the range, set up his sniper rifle, taught you the proper position, and just the sight of you made him stiffer than a board. 

X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes) Call me Goldilocks because I can’t can’t explain it other than just right. His size isn’t too big, nor too wide, but I know he can steer that ship. My source? Trust me. 

Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?) He could go on a while without any, he is a military man, after all… but why would he? LOL! But yeah, he can’t go long without it before whining but could go on a while longer without it before becoming SpongeBob thirsty. 

Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards) Preoutbreak, he’ll stay awake just as long as you do. He’s not a stranger to staying up later, just watching some TV, eating some food, bathing or showering, or just talking. Post Outbreak? My old man, he’s out like a light. He’s tired, okay!

Any Sebastian Solace headcannons?

Funnily enough I don't actually have all too many,, here are some I do have tho

(Warning,, a lot of them are kinda angsty loll)

Sebastian Headcanons:

I don't think he has eyelids,, not ones that can shut all the way at least. The reason for this is bc of him (previously) being part sea snake, and sea snakes don't have eyelids. I imagine he probably lost quite a bit of sleep when his eyes first formed this way, due to him not being used to sleeping with his eyes open

Commonly has nightmares about the experiments he endured, and is now (obviously) heavily against being touched due to them. I imagine he likely has a fear of needles n such too now

The first day or two of the lockdown were sleepless for him. I imagine there were probably alarms blaring, the monsters were loud as all hell, and he was running off of adrenaline. By the time the player gets there I can imagine him coming off of that. He's starting to become exhausted after running around the blacksite. This could also partially explain his rude behaviour to the player, he's gone two or so nights without sleep, he's cranky, he's tired and he wants to go home

He probably has lost hope every now n then. He wants to get out of the blacksite, but he also doesn't have a full plan on what it is he'd do after he's out,, he's likely contemplated whether he should be brought out at all. He knows he can't go back home to his family, he knows he can't integrate back into society, not like this at least. However, he also knows that its possible for him to be changed back into a human. He knows the companies he's selling data to have the technology to do that, but would he want to? I don't think he would,, he's been this way for a decade now, he's so used to this body that going back js wouldn't feel like him anymore. Sure, being human again would mean he could go back into regular society, but he couldn't be 'sebastian' anymore. He'd need a new face, a new identity, to start from scratch. His life would never be the same again. That's not even mentioning the fact that he'd likely have to go through the pain of the experiments again, and I don't think he'd want that. He'd likely be terrified to go through all the surgeries and injections and tests all over again, it'd bring back so much of his trauma,, not only that but he'd likely be wheelchair bound or need some kinda aid in walking too, going from a fish tail to legs again? That's gonna be tough, he'd have to completely relearn how to walk

He's very touch starved. There's probably been moments where he's longed to just grab one of the expendables and hold them, but at the same time, he doesn't trust them. These are the same people who'd disrespected his personal space, the same people who have flashed him with beacons. While the urge is there at times, he would never allow himself to. You'd likely have to build a very strong bond with him for him to allow you to touch him

When he moves I can imagine him kinda doing so like a snake, but maybe going in more of a rotating sorta motion, rather than a side-to-side slither. If he's moving quickly he'd likely use his hands for support, almost crawing in a way very quickly

Probably does the same tongue flicking as a snake. He uses it the same way he uses his ears to express emotion. In game u can kinda see that when he's mad, his tongue sticks out a bit, so I can imagine he uses it when he's pissed,, he probably also does it when he's content too

Ok that's all I can reaaaally think of for now,, tho if I think of more maybe I'll make another post, it all depends

garden update & plan || 09/05/2024

okay prepare thyselves for a reaaaally long post with my plans for the fall/winter garden! please feel free to reblog with ideas, suggestions, and constructive criticism!! <333

so i still have at least 2 more raised garden bed frames to put together and prepare, but in total, that means i'll have 6 raised garden beds, my greenhouse box, a bunch of pots, and my two in-ground garden beds (one in frontyard, one in backyard) to utilize for the cold season!

i've already decided to grow for sure: walking Egyptian onion (already planted), early shortneck garlic (to be planted in the next two weeks), copenhagen market cabbage, blue-curled scotch kale, chinese pink celery, and cilantro out in the raised garden beds!

i also now discovered thanks to @tomorrowsgardennc that the dill i've had is not a summer crop (ty to the store that lied to me augh) and is actually a cold weather crop, so i'm thinking i can just plant the little bit that remains into one of the raised beds, but i have to decide on where and which crops it'll go well with.

i'm planting the onions with the celery, and the garlic will grow with the cabbage and kale (or maybe i should plant the garlic by itself?? idk). orrrrr i can also plant the kale with the cilantro? and the cabbage will stay with the garlic!

i'm planning on not doing a uniform planting method of rows, instead my goal is to utilize a bunch of companion planting guides and plant my crops fairly close together.

i also have a nasturtium plant that i could plant in one of the raised garden beds OR i can separate it into different pots and place strategically around the raised beds to deter bugs!

so ultimately: raised bed 1) is for onion and celery, raised bed 2) is for garlic and cabbage, raised bed 3) is for kale and cilantro and maybe dill, raised bed 4) is already for my flowers, raised bed 5) is either more flowers or something else (suggestions are welcome), and raised bed 6) is actually going to be used by a friend of mine

i also still need to get a ton more soil and collect more cardboard

does anyone know cold weather perennial flowers that i can grow from seed during the fall?? i want to sow it directly into the ground ideally...

i also hope to grow some hot peppers in the greenhouse box, and i've already put a few things in there (bell pepper plant & tomato plant) and i want to move my basil into the greenhouse eventually as well

i have absolutely no idea if there's anything i should do with the garden beds in the backyard. ideally, i'd love to try to redo them in the spring, cover them with cardboard & start partially anew (keeping room for my perennial plants that are already established there), but idk what i can do during the fall and winter, if anything...

once again, any advice, suggestions, ideas, and/or constructive criticism is appreciated!! and tagging @tomorrowsgardennc bc i promised this post like yesterday lol!
