When Captain Olimar finds himself on planet Earth in the year 3000, its inhabitants welcome him with joy. Not only do they invent a breathing mask for him, so Olimar can wear casual clothes while keeping his life support, but they teach him how to use a Transducer. A mini Transducer created just for him.

The Transducer is a kind of headband worn over the forehead, like a tiara. It has a teardrop-shaped black plate in the middle. On this plate is a round transparent crystal.

The Transducer focuses the power of the mind, enabling his/her user to levitate objects, heal wounds and interact with futuristic devices.

At first, Olimar has difficulty using his Transducer, even with the help of Alana and several children.

"He doesn't concentrate hard enough." A little boy told him.

"You have to concentrate!" A little girl told him.

"The Transducer is a tool for projecting your mental energy." Alana, a 14-year-old teenager and healer in training, had explained to him. "You have to feel that energy before you concentrate. It's a psychic state to achieve."

Despite this, Olimar isn't the type to give up. After days and days of practice, he manages to put himself in the right psychic state to project his mental energy. When he manages to levitate an apple, Olimar can't contain his joy. He jumps, runs and screams like a child discovering his presents at Christmas.

His behavior upset some people from the year 3000 as they have been used to controlling their emotions from an early age. Alana is an exception but she won't say why she has learned to respect expressing joy, sadness or anger. Thus Alana talks to those who have been offended by Olimar's behavior. That solves the problem.

When Captain Olimar returns to Hocotate with his mini Transducer, he can't wait to show it off and tell all about what he's discovered on this planet. Yet he's sure he's already known a planet called Earth. Could there be more than one? Hm.

“Ramona! Come into my trailer before we have to start shooting this next scene. I have another stunt for you.”

Ramona rolled her eyes as she hung by her waist from the cables to the ceiling. Working on this movie had to be one of the most exhausting and stupidest things she ever had to do. It felt like an obstacle course she had to go through everyday so she could get to Todd Ingram and figure out what happened to that guy she kinda went out with one time.

What was worst of all was Envy Adams, Todd’s famous bitchy girlfriend. God, what a pain it was to work for her. She constantly asked Ramona to do “stunts” for her. “Stunts” being a code word for whatever the hell she needed her to do that day. From actually doing an intense stunt, to picking up her laundry, to feeding her pet dog, Ramona did everything Envy asked for.

But Ramona was willing to do anything to get Scott Pilgrim back.

Ramona sighed, “I’ll be right there. Can you lower me please?” A crew member gently lowered her to the ground and she caught up with Envy who was a few feet ahead of her.

No words were exchanged between them on their way to the trailer. Ramona studied her face. She was so calm yet so bold and confident. Her deep eye shadow complimented her eye shape. Her red hair flowed perfectly down her face and shoulders, framing her like the Mona Lisa. She really was hotter in person.

Soon enough, they arrived and entered Envy’s trailer. She shut the door behind them.

Envy’s trailer was as extravagant as she was. It was covered in luxury items. Ramona felt like she was in a limousine. Prada pillows were placed on high quality leather couches with Gucci tableware strewn about the side tables and sink. The entire trailer reeked of Chanel No. 5. A tiny closet was filled to the brim with luxury brands that Ramona couldn’t recognize or care about.

“What did you need me in here for?” Ramona asked.

Envy walked over to the couch and plopped herself down. She beckoned Ramona to sit next to her. She obeyed. As soon as Ramona sat down, Envy rearranged herself to be lying down, with her long legs stretching onto Ramona’s lap.

Ramona froze. It had been a while since she had gotten so close with a woman… Three years ago…? That doesn’t matter right now. Envy is happening right now. Envy propped her upper body up and pulled lip gloss out of her pocket. She dangled it in front of Ramona’s face. Her eyes widened.

“I know I have a whole makeup department to do all this work, but I am playing you after all. I need you to do my lips the way you do yours.”

“D-do your lips…?” Ramona muttered. Her mind wandered off into dangerous territory. “Get it together,” she told herself internally. She shook her head in an attempt to get her mind out of the gutter.

Ramona fumbled the lip gloss in her sweaty palms. She felt like she didn’t even have the strength to unscrew the cap. Envy was growing impatient. “Hey! Hurry up, Flowers! I don’t have all day.”

After what felt like an hour, Ramona took the wand out of the gloss. Envy opened her mouth slightly, ready for Ramona. She took a deep breath and slowly began to put the gloss all over Ramona’s lips. Her hands felt shaky, but her application was crisp. She took in the silhouette of Envy’s lips in excruciating detail.

All while, Envy looked at her with her big black eyes. Her big black beautiful eyes. Like those of a siren. That’s what she was. A siren. Luring men and women into her grasp just to crush them into pieces. That’s what she was doing to Ramona. She tried her best to avoid eye contact, but she struggled immensely. It didn’t matter where she looked, her nerves raged on. The way Envy’s chest rose and fell with each breath was addicting to watch.

Ramona was nearly done with applying lip gloss when her hands got too shaky for her own good. Her hand slipped causing a small streak of lip gloss to be marked to the corner of her mouth right outside the intended area. She let out a small gasp at her own action.

Envy made an annoyed sound and rolled her eyes in disgust. “Nice job, Flowers,” she remarked sarcastically.

“Sit up so I can fix it,” she pleaded. Envy positioned herself to be closer to Ramona’s face. Ramona’s thumb softly scraped the lip gloss off of Envy’s chin. Each light caress of her skin brought the two’s faces closer and closer. Their breaths becoming hotter and heavier by the second.

Before Ramona could even fully realize it, their lips were interlocked. Envy draped her arms around Ramona’s shoulders and Ramona’s hands found their way to Envy’s sides. Ramona instinctively held onto her tightly and tried her best to pull her in due to the limited space. Soon, she wrapped her arms around her entire body, fully embracing every part of Envy Adams.

Envy got up on her knees without parting from Ramona’s lips. She began to run her fingers through Ramona’s short and colorful hair and pushed her face into hers as much as humanly possible.

It was hot.

It was messy.

There were…

Sparks.

Ramona’s heart dropped when she felt them. She quickly pushed Envy off of her as she started to hyperventilate. Envy looked at her with an annoyed yet mischievous grin. She was breathing heavily as well.

“You ruined my lip gloss…” Envy sighed out.

“I can’t…” Ramona said in between breaths.

“Why’d you stop, baby?”

“Envy, I can’t-“ Ramona repeated. She was stopped by Envy’s index finger being pushed against her lips.

“I know you’re looking for Scott.”

Ramona tensed at the comment. “W-what are you-“

“I’m not stupid. Roxie told Lucas Lee who told Todd who told me all about your little plan to find out who kidnapped Scott. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but it wasn’t me or Todd. We could care less about that loser.”

Ramona could only stare at her. Great. She still hasn’t found a solid lead on Scott’s disappearance and she has a sloppy make out session with his ex-girlfriend. Not only did they make out, but she began to feel some way about her. She felt the guilt spread all over her body. Ramona groaned and buried her head in her hands.

“No… no…” Ramona moaned out. She resisted the urge to cry.

Envy giggled at the sight. “Don’t worry. I make a lot of girls realize something about themselves,” She sighed as she pushed some hair out of Ramona’s sweaty face.

Ramona quickly got up and walked towards the door. “I have to go…” Ramona squeaked out as she put her hand on the doorknob. Somehow, Envy caught up to her. She slammed her hand next to Ramona’s face into the metal walls of the trailer. The sound made Ramona jump.

With one arm extended next to Ramona’s face and Envy standing tall and confident in front of her, Ramona felt herself getting smaller. Her knees buckled slightly as she looked into Envy’s eyes. “Before you go…” Envy got slowly and slowly closer to Ramona’s face. Her breath felt hot and heavy as she breathed down Ramona’s neck.

“If Scott ever breaks your heart, you can always come running back to me, sweetheart.”

Ramona felt herself shaking. Envy planted a small kiss on her cheek. Her unoccupied hand landing on Ramona’s side. Ramona’s heart skipped a beat and she gasped. Envy giggled at the sight.

All of a sudden, Ramona felt herself being pushed out of the door. She lost her balance and landed on her forearm. She whipped her head around to see a smiling Envy closing the door on her.

Young Neil was waiting outside in his golf cart. He seemed unaffected by Ramona’s fall. “Oh hey Ramona. Didn’t see you down there,” He commented.

Ramona said nothing as she climbed into the golf cart. Young Neil began to drive. “So. Did you help Envy out with the stunt she needed?”

“I guess you could say that,” Ramona answered solemnly.

Ramona stared at Envy’s trailer as it shrank and shrank into the distance. The place that changed her life.

-the chapter breakdown of the maltese falcon is on the left. there's a square for every chapter, and a corresponding square in the next row for lining up the events of the falcon with the events of the fic. -'the bippy' is the plot of the fanfic. bc there's a parody movie called the maltese bippy however it has NOTHING to do with the actual maltese falcon (full disclosure, i've never seen it. i just know it exists. i think my mom has seen it, though.). .....and the fic itself is not a parody. but!!!!! it makes me giggle. this row has additional squares for things that happen between the chapters that i still need to be aware of happening -i need to keep track of what kit finds out about the sugar bowl and a murder in the third category, so it doesn't get lost in all the plot figuring, but i didn't have enough room to fit the title in there so i decided to put emojis bc i couldn't just leave it WITHOUT a title. but there's no sugar bowl emoji so it's the ice cream emoji for that (it's....sweet......) and the knife. for. 🗡️Murder🗡️

Comic Fanfiction Authors Archive

The CFAArchive is an archive built specifically for comic book and comic animation adjacent fandoms, rather than live-action properties! It uses the same archive warnings as AO3 and Ad Astra, but has the two additional tags QPR and vs. for queer-platonic and adversarial relationships! Much like Ad Astra, the tagging scheme on the CFAA is very strict to maximize searchability and minimize tag-spamming. There's also an attached Discord, where we run a bi-weekly writing challenge, the occasional comment/review hunt and a monthly focus feature where everyone reads a book, discusses it and creates based on it! I have a vision: a world where we can read about polycules and complicated relationships with four or more people until our eyes hurt and our hearts can't take it anymore.

Let me introduce to you: the 2025 Four or More Bingo! Thanks to a couple of suggestions I received last year, I decided to launch this event earlier in the year for more opportunities to write about those messy polycules.

This is a low-stakes, personal challenge. There's no penalty for not finishing or running late.

Cards will be given from now to December 31st. Fills can be posted starting June 1st to AO3, SQWA or tumblr forever.

GUIDELINES

Any medium! Any rating! As long as your work focuses on a relationship with 4 or more people, it's allowed!

All works must be your own and not previously posted. AI generated works will be deleted from the collections.

You may combine these with other events, as long as the other event allows it (examples are @polyamships' polyartober, lyricaltitles challenges, etc)

Small fandoms welcome!

MEDIUM SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

Minimum wordcount for fics is 100 words. There is no maximum

Minimum for art is a sketch on unlined paper (figure sticks allowed!). There is no limit to the quality or effort you want to put in your fills.

Minimum for moodboards is a 3x3 grid (9 images individually or edited in one image). Maximum is given by the place where you decide to post. On tumblr, the maximum is 20 images, but on AO3, you're free!

Minimum for podfic is a 100-word fic. There is no restriction on maximum length or sound effects.

Minimum for fanvids is 30 seconds. There is no maximum.

Other mediums don't have a minimum. Do you want to make an in-universe magazine for your ship? A cross stich pattern? A sculpture? Go ahead and do it! I look forward to all the things you can create.

2. Hi, I'm looking for a fic I'm pretty sure I found it on this blog a few days ago but I forgot to mark it. A) The summary was something like this

"Wei Wuxian knew he would marry Lan Wangji from the moment he met him. Cangse Sanren, a romantic at heart was fully supportive of this endeavor. Wwx and WQ or someone decides that they should leave the burial mounds. LWJ knew of this plan and was helping them (either by keeping the secret or bringing supplies I don't remember). WWX makes a portal array and planned to use it to leave. Day of the plan sent out two people to place the anchor for the other end of the portal. Plan gets destroyed because siege. LWJ was part of the siege because WWX framed for hurting LQ. WWX modifies it array so they get sent back in time instead. Roughly 100 years. LWJ is sad because WWX is gone. LWJ either leaves or distance himself from the Lan traveling around as a cultivator. Runs into the two scouts that were sent ahead to place the other portal anchor. Eventually finds the village where the remnants that traveled to the past settle down and finds their descendants. While in the past WWX rebuilt his core, became immortal, and then used another portal to travel forward in time; so he didn't cause a time paradox with himself. A-yuan beacon immortal as well in that time and meets LWJ in that village. Reunion between wangxian.

I know there is more I just can't remember it

Additional information is that WWX and WQ went to the past lan sect to ask for use of the library/knowledge to accelerate WWX core rebuilding

5. I come to you seeking a Xuanwu redemption fic! As far as I recall, WWX used the Xuanwu in the war and then sealed himself with it in a lake(?) near Lotus Pier. A number of years later, they both emerged, and Xuanwu was tiny baby turtle. No more murder, ready to seek divinity again! 🐢 They travelled to Cloud Recesses or somewhere close to it, I think, in search of Xuanwu's new home. @linderel

The fic was set during and after cloud recess but I think there was no war. And wei wuxian was not kicked out and stayed in cloud recess. While returning back to Lotus pier lan xichen asks wei wuxian to write to lan wangi and so they start exchanging letters. And wei ying sends his own paperman with those letters and lan zhan keeps it with him . I don't remember the exact ending if there was war or not . That's it

8. Hello, I have a fic finder request, please! It was set in Cloud Recesses lecture arc. Lan Qiren noticed that Wei Wuxian did not have good manners and he didn’t know political/diplomacy things that a head disciple should know (such as the wrong bow for his station). After speaking with WWX, LQR realized that Madame Yu had purposefully trained WWX poorly so that he would embarrass himself in front of visiting clans and to stunt any potential political growth (so WWX wouldn’t be more capable than JC). LQR then gives WWX classes in etiquette and diplomacy. Thank you! @gloriousclotpole

17. Ficfinder request: it was a sort-of case-fic where WangXian adopt a baby. They're in an inn's tavern gathering info and overhear some guys talking about a sacrifice they made. WWX gets REALLY mad because it's a newborn baby (they might have killed the mother or she died in childbirth) and gets the location from them by deliberately scaring them. He and LWJ head out right away, find and rescue the baby and kill the yao/ghost, then head back to town to their room. WWX keeps the baby in his robes to keep (her?) warm on the swordflight back and I think teases LWJ by pointing out he looks pregnant and LWJ has feels about it. They keep the baby in their room, planning to find someone to give it to, but after asking around there's no one (I think because the mother was a prostitute?) and the next day they decide to keep it and head home. @mondengel2

So, a while ago you said that you aren't active in fandom spaces in part because they tend to be so overwhelmingly sex and romance saturated that they're basically unnavigable to a sex-averse aroace. (I remember because I am also annoyed by this, and actually write a lot of gen fiction myself. The sort of tropes and interactions I like to read can basically only be found by trawling romantic relationship tags, though, even if I don't care for the sexual or romantic part.)

I just found out that Squidgeworld - a fanfiction repository that uses the same code as AO3 - has a QPR category! There are less than two hundred works in the category, but the mere fact that it exists is heartening. They also have an "antagonistic relationships" category, which I am delighted by - watching rivals interact is way more fun for me than watching lovers interact.

Anyway, I'm not sure that this is something which you would personally take advantage of, but you have a pretty large following in the ace/aro spectrum community, and I have little doubt that this will be a good resource for someone. Maybe it'll even sew the seeds of a more active aroace-safe fanfiction community.

It IS a very valuable resource, thank you so much for sharing it!! I hope it comes to help a lot of people facing the same challenges we do TwT

Hi, Spaniard here who is equally fascinated and frustrated about the Squidgeworld thing. Here is the thing: dialects exists, tuteo vs voseo exists, vocabulary and slang differences exist, and yet, nothing that a quick glance at a panhispanic dictionary can't solve (the Royal Spanish Academy dictionary offers definitions that specify dialect and all). Hell, most of the time context is all I need.

Now, my two grains of salt on this matter is that despite the claims that this was requested, I have a hard time believing these were requests by anyone that thought this through. Why? Because as part of my assigned reading at my spanish school, I had to read plenty LATAM authors and poets (Gabriel García Márquez, Juan Rulfo, Pablo Neruda, Julio Cortázar, etc...). I'm starting to think some (non-hispanic) people might be under the impression that we don't read each other at all? Or something along those lines? The Miguel de Cervantes Prize* regularly awards both LATAM and spanish authors. The point I'm making here is that spanish/hispanic literature includes everyone as it isn't spanish/hispanic -> works from spain but spanish/hispanic -> works written in spanish. The semantics are a bit confusing, I will admit.

In any case: there isn't any difference in dialect so significant that they are completely unintelligible and should be separated. And as other people have said, LATAM dialects have differences amongst themselves so it doesn't make sense to bag them together but also splitting them is kind of ridiculous as well, not to mention the regional differences in castillian within Spain itself. It's just... this doesn't seem like a decision made by someone who is fluent in spanish.

The only thing that has ever made my comprehension of LATAM spanish difficult at times is the accents, which you cannot hear in text form, and even that is not that much of a hurdle bc after a while you get used to it.

Now, I have noticed that word processors have spanish (es) and spanish (latam) for the spell checking, so that might be where they got the idea that the two should be split. However english also tends to be separated in english (uk) and (us) (as well as (can)? in gdocs at least) so that still doesn't fully explain it.

And just for a bit of linguistic fun: if you put a group of spanish speakers from different regions together they eventually adopt each others linguistic habits. A spanish friend of mine now regularly uses "chama/o" bc she made friends with a venezuelan girl while studying in France (in Spain we say 'tía/o'), an argentine acquantaince uses tú/vos interchangeably, another ecuatorian friend distinguishes 's' and 'c' and her accent comes and goes because she grew up in Spain, younger spaniards use 'güey/wey' and 'weón' now, which wasn't a originally thing in Spain... It goes on and on.

This got long, sorry about that, I'm a language/literature nerd. It's just so puzzling to me.

Neither The Emperor nor the Empress nor Lahan's little sister ever admitted to Lahan the exact nature of their relationship, but Lahan can make an educated guess of what is going on. It's a pretty neat arrangement, in fact. Beautiful numbers all around, politically and otherwise. So Lahan's willing to keep their secret for them and help them hide it too, if needed.

Fandom (de)centralization

With the hardware-related intermittent outages at AO3, several people had a discussion in one of the news posts about the fandom centralization that has taken place over the past 15 years of AO3 existing.

At the same time, the fractures of decentralization - especially with things like invite-only discord servers etc - is also taking its strain on fandom as a community effort. And let's not even start talking about the commodification of fanworks.

So rather than start a discussion this, I'd like to point out a few AO3 alternatives other archives than AO3 (as it has been pointed out to me, these are not AO3 alternatives and I apologize for my word choice) for times of outages and maybe mirroring of your fanworks or hosting somewhere that is not AO3. A lot of us have lived through purges like strikethrough and while we do have AO3 and while I am glad for AO3, it's not infallible.

SquidgeWorld Archive (runs OTW software) - has also NB as relationship category and is pretty much an all purpose archive. You may be familiar with Squidge fandom image hosting or Squidge hosting space for fandom pages. All related.

superlove - a smaller archive run by melo, not currently giving out new invites but worth keeping an eye on. also runs OTW software
