My Favorite Musical Artists of 2023
It is Spotify wrapped season and so instead of letting a company decide what I liked most or listened to most when it isn't totally accurate I shall instead tell you my favorite musical artists of the year and what musical art resonated most with my heart and why.
Normally I don't like to do this sort of list until it's actually the next year because in December maybe I'll get into Electronic Disco Funk and have 3 artists that should really be here but I figure now is a good time
youtube
Ado
Ado really was a machine of putting out great music both on contract for anime and songs that are just related to her own work. I found her listening to the One Piece Film Red soundtrack and loving those songs this year but her vocals on Show, All Night Radio, FREEDOM and more all are breath takingly great. She clearly knows great people to collaborate with to make amazing music and her vocals are utterly delightful with a brilliant vocal range.
Ado music is perfect for making playlists for my OCs, listening to while writing, working on chores, really just a perfect artist for every function I often look to music for.
youtube
Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae is a consistent favorite even in years where they have released no new songs they still stand among my favorite artists of the year with songs like Make Me Feel, Many Moons, Tightrope and Screwed always being on my rotation of songs. Now Lipstick Lover joins as another Monae staple that will constantly be on repeat for me. The Age Of Pleasure was a really great album and I think this era of Janelle's music was really good and I think Janelle was really bold going into being a free ass person and refusing to let themselves be defined by others on their own terms.
youtube
Reinaeiry
While I am not the biggest fan of the same kind of operatic dramatic songs that often drive many of Reinaeiry's songs, in any given year she still puts out more songs I love then songs that are not my thing. There is a touch of bitter sweetness because my ex loved her music too and so it often reminds me of her and our break up was a bit less than a year ago but having moved back around to being friends with her the music can sit comfortably in my ears as music that means a lot to me even if some songs now have bitter sweet memories tied to them it makes some songs work better too.
youtube
Yoasobi
Yoasobi has had a year getting to preform songs for some of the years biggest anime projects but this was the year I discovered her music and in it I found so many amazing songs. 海のまにまに is probably my favorite from the year but I also really enjoy Horizon, セブンティーン, Biri-Biri, and Hero a lot too. She has a lot of really banger music videos and they are just delights to watch. I find a lot of her songs are perfect chill songs to really set a nice calm wokring on something serious tone in the background, like just enough added energy to not be sleepy music.
youtube
Jamie Page
While I got into Jamie Page last year, Jamie Page's music this year has also been bangers and am still loving the songs i fell for last year. Love Renewed is a new Jamie Page classic and I am always listening to songs like Encore, Gummyworm, Bitter Sweet and People play Pretend. Jamie makes perfect poppy and fun music that can get into the sadder emotions while still being upbeat and really fun to listen to.
youtube
Joel Baylis and Shelby Harvey
The Cassette Beasts OST is probably my actual most listened to music of the year. The soundtrack is just so fucking good, like above and beyond, I really need to actually buy the album on bandcamp because I love it so much. Your Inception and Arrow of Time are probably my favorite songs from the album but Same Old Story, Wherever We Are, face down and the rest of the vocal tracks are all bangers. All these songs are gonna be forever staples for me making OC playlists and just jaming out when I am working on being creative. Their perfect songs for writing action scenes not so dominant that they take all my attention but enough to pump me up for some badass action.
youtube
Chrissy Chlapecka
Chrissy's transition from Tiktok bimbo positivity poster to pop icon this year was glamorous. She really brings something new to the early 2000s pop kinda vibe she is going for with a much more powerful and queer vibe with an aim at being a bit more intentionally political without it being so dominant in the music to pull away from them being like "dumb" pop. A lot of "influencers" attempt the transition into music but it is very clear that Chrissy is actually a musical talent who stumbled into being popular online for not doing music then used that to boost her passion.
youtube
Dorian Electra
Weird core legend Dorian Electra is truly a musical artist who is always worth checking out even when a song is a total wiff it's usually at least fun to watch the music video. I am always relistening to my favs from Dorian but this year had a lot of great blasphemy core music like Sodom & Gomorrah but also brilliant songs like Puppet that really all captured my heart and are just great pop songs in addition to being a little funny or whatever else Dorian is going for.
youtube
Band-maid
J-rock legends Band-maid are always a favorite for me. BAND-MAID are so good at their respective gimmicks it almost makes me sad that they are tied to the gimmick of having to dress up as maids. I enjoy a good Maid outfit but I do think their music is just so seriously damn good and I do worry the gimmick is also a detraction from how truly badass their music is. They are just such amazing artists and they are just a delight to listen to especially if I am gaming and want to replace a sound track or something.
youtube
Tape Girl
Ska is my favorite kind of music, while I didn't include a ton on this list I had to include at least one Ska artist and Tape Girl was an artist I found this year who really blew me away. There were a ton of great artists I discovered this year but as of now I mostly just have one song from them I really love while Tape Girl basically has no misses. Tape Girl is really fun and the instrumentations are all so good, they are just ahhh such fantastic tracks and really songs well worth listening to.

PLEASE do write me some thoughts about suprisingly caring (original?) loser uncle elias
ohhhhhh oh i'm excited to finally write this all out in one spot. also a bit embarassed because i'm cringe and pulled all of this outta my ass xD
i didn't mean to write so much but it became kind of A Lot. i even decided halfway through that i needed to use proper capitalization because i can't look at so many bullet points in lowercase fdhsfkjdkh PLEASE bear with me:
First off, yes! It's just original Elias. I desperately need to see Jonah again, but for as far as I've thought about this, Elias isn't involved in any spooky situations here. No eyes getting gouged out, no Magnus Institute, no dead college roommate. (I could get extra silly and say they're happily married xD)
I do think he's still a bit haunted by his father, in the sort of way that it's impossible to shake off the damage done by a parent entirely, even when they died half a lifetime ago and you're already in your mid-to-late-50s.
But for the most part, he's kinda moved past it. He got over his "I'm a Bouchard, I'm destined to be More" phase somewhere in his 30s, and has learned to find meaning in little things and be content with where he is in life. (I'm also running with the idea that this probably meant he never got a letter from the Institute, so he spent a few years miserably trying to figure out why nothing seemed good enough for him before forcing himself to get over it).
Doesn't really have any contact with most of his relatives, but it's nothing that bothers him at this point.
Him being Gwen's uncle would obviously mean one of Gwen's parents is his sibling, which I think is reasonably possible. (I'd assume it's not her mother, because Gwen's last name is also Bouchard). I could see him having an overachiever younger brother that made him look even worse by comparison.
Elias' father had probably basically disowned him by the time he died, so Elias wasn't left with as much.
Probably met Gwen at some family function when she was still very young, before he committed to distancing himself from the rest of his family. He still showed up, but no one really had any reason to talk to the guy whose father would openly go ON about his son being such a disappointment. And Elias certainly didn't feel like striking up a conversation with most of the people there unless he had to.
Gwen is just as quiet and polite as everyone else there, but she's still just a kid. Elias sees her getting a slap on the wrist after reaching for a second mini-dessert to go with the rest of her tea, so he wraps one in a napkin and gives it to her later while her parents aren't looking.
He's just tired and lost at this point, and it's more of a chore than ever keeping up appearances; so when Gwen looks up at him with big, happy eyes and a soft "thank you," well-- he feels like he can relax his shoulders a bit, and finds himself smiling down at her.
For a while, that's Gwen's nice uncle who she likes seeing at gatherings :] But she quickly starts to settle into a more serious demeanor as she gets older, and at the same time, Elias doesn't really show up to anything anymore.
Something something something, she's probably in her teens/early adulthood maybe when she actually bumps into him again somewhere. She's overheard plenty of negative things about him over the years from her father, but,,,,,, well, she's still got a soft spot for the guy, even if she maybe agrees that Elias could be doing more for himself. And when he smiles at her, it's not as restrained as the one she remembers from when she was a kid.
He's certainly a bit of a goofball now. Nearly two decades of unlearning toxic mentalities and finding something to be passionate about in life kinda does that to some people. He's actually kind of annoying, but she tolerates it because that's just her Uncle Elias :/
I think he'd be mostly chill, but pretty upbeat. Has a habit of yapping. Maybe a little sassy? I kinda feel like the way he speaks would be similar to how he sounded when it was Jonah, but more lighthearted/informal.
Gwen doesn't give him many details about work and such, but it quickly becomes apparent to him that she's definitely not happy with where she is, despite how much she'll calmly insists she likes her job.
He's under the impression she's only sticking around at that job because she's sunk several years into it already, and it'd look good to her family if she could eventually move up into an actual respectable position. (Although I'm personally assuming that her motivations are separate from any of that specifically, but who knows!)
Elias trusts she knows what she's doing, but maybe he's a bit worried because he's seeing himself in her, a little bit. He doesn't want her to do anything rash (y'know. like blackmailing her boss for a promotion. or something.) the longer she's stuck at the bottom without a way of climbing higher.
At this point I feel like all of this is too good for him. He needs to be put into a Situation. But I also really enjoy a character who's already been through the horrors of being in their 20s/30s and has actually managed to find a way to be okay with life 😭 If this were an actual workplace comedy, he'd just pop in from time to time to be silly and irritate Gwen a bit. He's probably get along with Alice.
okay other random details. He doesn't smoke weed or anything as much as he used to, but still does occasionally just for funsies. He's recently gotten into vaping.
Jonah Magnus wears fancy three-piece suits ONLY, you CANNOT change my mind. Elias would dress far more casually, however :3 Maybe not so far as a hoodie and sweatpants (at least not when he goes out), but more like a nice, comfy sweater and an old coat and pants that don't really match anything but he still looks mostly alright. I think it'd be funny if he wore, like, Crocs, though. Never really styles his hair.

Why the Nancy Drew Games are so Great
I searched the internet for articles about “why the Nancy Drew games are so great” because they are great and I was sure someone out there had articulated why.  I found an article or two, but nothing that quite covered what I was looking for.  So I banged together this list.
Why the Nancy Drew games are so great, by Cupcakedoll
I think it comes down to “they are so very wholesome and pure.”
-Nancy is relentlessly upbeat.  Even when scary things happen Nancy is only a little bit nervous.  Her friends are always supportive.  Ned worries about Nancy but never tries to make her give up her sleuthing.  There is no friend or boyfriend drama.  Even the villains are rarely trying to cause real damage.  Many of the cases are based on misunderstandings or good intentions gone awry.  After the first game nobody dies and the rest of the cases are mostly about Nancy investigating sabotage or mysterious events, a few missing person cases but you know they’re going to be fine.
-Nancy is happy to do your chores. Need someone to dig clams, update your website, paint reproductions of masterpieces, cook any meal, clean hotel rooms, sheer sheep, teach English, assemble a model skeleton, catch gophers, gather gear for a disaster kit, go ice fishing, mix (nonalcoholic) drinks, dance onstage in a catsuit, gather bait, sort bug parts, or feed a tracking device to a pigeon?  Nancy Drew is ready to help!
-The games are weirdly feminist by being unfeminine.  Nancy never voices any particular interest in fashion, makeup, or being on stage.  When you can choose Nancy’s clothes the outfits are as goofy as they are pretty, and she famously has mom jeans in her suitcase whenever we can look in her suitcase. Even in Danger by Design there’s no attention to “prettiness.” Nancy sounding like a responsible adult adds to this lack of teenage girlosity.
-The world of the games is full of repeating characters and products.  With the games made basically on top of each other the creators could throw in lots of references back and forth creating a world that feels like a world.  You can phone Nancy’s friends in the games and they’re always the same so you get to know them and look forward to hearing what they’re up to while Nancy is off solving mysteries.  Between this and the environments, the games are really immersive.
-The minigames and puzzles are fun. Well, mostly.  In every game there’s at least one that I decide must be bugged because I can’t figure it out.  But there’s often also one I come back to because it just has this nice meditative feeling to it.
-They try to be educational but really… aren’t and it just comes off so charmingly out of touch.
-There are a million of them.  The games were coming out two a year so every time I went to the office supply store I could pick one up without really thinking about it. They’re all different enough, different vibe, characters and setting, that there will be some you just love.  And they’re all the same enough to feel comfy and you don’t have to learn new mechanics.
Alas that is the series’ past; there have been changes at HerInteractive that may mean the series has ended or may just mean we need to wait several years between games, like with every other game studio.
If you play the games you may never know the strangeness surrounding them.  There do be some strangeness.
Lani Minella voiced Nancy in all game but one… and Nancy sounds so mature because Lani was in her sixties when she stopped voicing the character.  She had some kind of magical 4-octave voice so she can do that.  She also did some roaring for monsters in Subnautica, among many, many other game credits.  But about the time Ms. Minella stopped voicing Nancy she made a post about “chemtrails,” suggesting she may have gone a little batty in her senior years.
HerInteractive also made a Vampire Diaries game, proving that everything is six degrees of separation from LJ Smith.
And the games were, for a long time, not making money.  The company was funded by a Mysterious Benefactor who thought that the games were worth putting into the world.  Nobody knows who that was, and they’ve probably stopped benefact-ing nowadays since HerInteractive has shrunk down the way it has.
For more, this video:
youtube
My favorite game, so far, is Shadow at the Water’s Edge, because Japan.  White Wolf of Icicle Creek also holds a place in my heart.  I haven’t played Midnight in Salem, a game I approach with some trepidation after seeing reports that it isn’t just like all the other ones.  Really, what we want are games that are just like all the other ones!

On the Farm -- a playlist for farm chores
listen here!
Vixey’s Farm Life Playlist: 10 Songs Vixey Listens to While Doing Farm Chores, make an aesthetic and write 50 words about why each song is included
9 to 5 by Dolly Parton – A classic. I couldn’t not start this playlist with this song. It’s the perfect chore song, no matter what your job is. Working on the farm, it definitely is a jam though. Except that working on a farm is more like 5 to 9, lol. Ask my dad, he never stops talking about how he woke up at like 4am every morning.
Any Man of Mine by Shania Twain – I know that realistically Vixey probably doesn’t know a lot of country music but that’s not gonna stop me from pretending and putting it on all of her playlists. It is just her vibe. And this song is just fun and will keep you awake when you’re up super early and just trying to stay on your feet.
Cowboy Take Me Away by The Chicks – Another classic, I feel like this song is just good for doing chores and daydreaming. Putting up your laundry while singing about a handsome cowboy coming and sweeping you off your feet. It’s about the vibes. It’s about keeping yourself entertained during long hours. This song definitely does that, it’s one of my faves.
Born to Fly by Sara Evans – This is my fave. It’s also great for chores because the music video is so fun (look it up). It’s basically Dorothy from the beginning of the Wizard of Oz when she is—you guessed it—doing farm chores! So, this song in my head has always been associated with farm chores. I used to love this music video as a kid.
Texas Man by The Chicks – I told Vicky that I barked laughing putting this song on this playlist because I realized that DRAKKEN is a Texas man. Hilarious. I love it. Amazing. 10/10. It’s also funny because the song is about someone who feels a little used up, already passed her prime, which is how Vixey does  feel sometimes, since she’s already done the whole marriage thing and grief thing. Anyway, this is a new addition to the playlist but so good.
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) by ABBA – Why are all these songs about men? Honestly, that tracks for Vixey. She’s not boy obsessed by any means, but she’s always been one of my more romantic characters. And all these songs are just kind of fun. Kind of ribbing yourself when it comes to longing. So, I’m not mad about it. This song is so fun and upbeat.
Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet – Just a good groovy song, could see someone dancing around in a dairy parlor to this song. Doing air guitar with the milk machine. Yeah. It’s a vibe. Plus, a fun song to sing out loud to yourself when you’re just vibing and doing these really repetitive sorts of chores that farms need to run.
Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye – One of my all time favorite songs. I feel like Vixey would really like this song too. Super upbeat. Great song to sing along to. If you couldn’t tell, Vixey is definitely a sing-a-long kind of person. She’s not a great singer, really, but she has fun and that is what matters. Plus, the animals don’t usually care. So non-judgmental.
My Girl by the Temptations – Vixey likes to sing this song to the animals. After all, farms are run by girl power! You gotta milk the cows. You gotta get eggs from the female chickens! And Vixey likes to think if you sing nice songs to the animals and make sure they are happy, they will produce better products, so she will sing this song to them and love up on them. Which is very cute of her.
Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 – This is a specific song from her rainy-day playlist, because Vixey definitely has multiple chore playlists. That’s the kind of person that she is. This song is so soothing, and it is also on my rainy day playlist because it just gives off grey skies and chill vibes. Even though farms don’t stop running in the rain!

Chanyeol - Good Enough MV
youtube
If this was released last year or earlier this year, I would have really cried nonstop.
I was unemployed for almost a year. I, too, shut myself off from everyone including my close friends. I was stuck in my room the whole day, doing repetitive chores for almost a year, and was just basically inside the house. It was really depressing. I swore I could have kms when I had the chance because it was just too much for me to do the same tasks, see the same people for a year. I don’t know how anyone can do this and still not get tired and question themself of their worth.
Hearing this now brings me back to those days where I thought I’d never get out of that loop.
When even small dreams feel too heavy When there’s even no time to take a sip of warmth When there is no time to spare When I crouch down and thе farthest, I can see are my toes It’s okay, just stay likе that for a while We will be fine, simply just like this 작았던 꿈마저 너무 무거울 때 한 모금의 온기를 느낄 여유도 없을 때 주저앉아 나의 발끝만 보일 때 그 자리에 머물러도 돼 We will be fine, 그냥 그래도 돼
This song brings me comfort, Chanyeol. Thank you. I thought I was the only one who experiences those repetitive days. Maybe you did, too because you came up with this song.
The shadow I cast is a lonely one Familiar faces, slow footsteps Even the future we were meant to share Disappears somewhere I am at a dead end with a wall blocking me Once more, dragging my drained body back to my room Lying down with the worries that come rushing in Yet again I find myself today in the same place Still in this place Can I go any further?
It’s an upbeat song but why am I tearing up? The lyrics are just too relatable. I also have the same thoughts “Still in this place. Can I go any further?” But each time I feel pressure from myself, I also say to myself “I’ll be fine. I’ll be fine. I’ll get through this.”
I will smile When I will look back at these in the end
It’s such a good song. Kinda reminds me of Exo’s Hear Me Out. Chanyeol’s voice is really nice, too! I really really love his voice. He has a distinct voice that when you hear, you’ll immediately recognize it’s Chanyeol. This is why he’s my bias and the first one I loved from the group.
Chanyeol~ah, thank you for making this song. I feel really moved by the meaning of the lyrics. It made me think about those bleak days of mine. Thank you. Thank you. I can’t thank you well enough.

Linden & Colton - 19
(masterpost)
CW: references to noncon, Col fearing he'll be sexually abused, flashbacks, brief victim blaming, pet whump, dehumanisation
-
Linden’s phone buzzed again, and he knew exactly who it’d be before he even looked.
Sure enough, messages from his brother were crowding his phone screen. Vikram texted in small, frantic messages, that Linden found oddly funny.
lol fine knowing you you’ll never suggest a day
are you free tomorrow? I’ll come over for lunch or something
you know you miss me!!
Linden rolled his eyes, but truth be told, he did miss him. A new message appeared before he had the chance to start typing.
fine FINE I just want to see jaffa. you can die idc
That made him huff out a laugh, but he’d never give Vik the satisfaction of knowing that. Instead, he typed back:
Tomorrow is fine, don’t worry about bringing food. What are you doing now? Can you ring me? I have something to tell you before you visit.
Vik replied almost immediately.
yeah gimme 2 secs, who have you killed lol!
He checked around for Colton, but he was nowhere to be seen. Probably still working his way through the little chores and tasks Linden had given him, which meant he was either changing the roll of toilet paper in the bathroom (great for dexterity) or watering the balcony plants (providing plenty of fresh air and sunlight). Either way, he still positioned himself in the corner of the lounge, the furthest from his Pet’s ears.
He answered on the second ring. “Vik?”
“Hey, big man. You alright?”
“Yeah… yeah… I, um, I need to tell you something before you come over.”
“You sound tense, mate. What is it? Everything okay?”
“Yeah, everything’s fine it’s just- I have a Pet. Uh. Yeah.”
Vik didn’t miss a beat. “Are you serious? You, a Pet owner? Please.”
“I know, but there was this, this ad, in the paper, the council were talking about this random stray and they said if no one claimed him they were gonna put him down. They would have murdered him, Vik! And I don’t know. I just thought, fuck, no one else is gonna do anything are they. So I rang them up and they gave him to me for free.”
“Wow,” Vik said, a placeholder while he digested all of that. “So, how is he?”
“He’s alright, yeah. Only recently learned that he could speak. He’s still really really jumpy.”
“He’s scared of you, then,” Vik translated.
“Yeah. I don’t know how much of him you’ll see tomorrow. I’ll tell him it’s alright if he just stays in his room.”
“I can’t picture you as a Pet owner, even though you’re not a proper one.”
“Not a proper one as in I’m a good person with a soul?” Linden quipped. Vik snorted.
“Basically. Ew, it’s weird! He does whatever you say! But you’re just- you’re Linden. You’re my stupid baby brother. He should be telling you what to do.”
Linden smiled. Vik always put him at ease. Difficult topics seemed to flow off him like water off a duck. “Yeah, yeah it is kind of weird, I’m still getting used to it. But you see why I wanted to let you know beforehand.”
“Oh, yeah, totally,” he laughed. “Or else I might have thought he was burgling your house and I’d have asked to join in.”
“Oh, shut up. See you for lunch.”
“See you, Pet man!”
Linden felt the weight lift from his shoulders, but not entirely. Now he had to tell Col.
. . .
He had finished over ten minutes ago. Shiny drops of water still lingered on some of the wider leaves, not quite ready to drop into the moist soil below. But the balcony was too warm and sunny to resist, so Col was still kneeling there when he heard Master’s voice behind him.
He flinched hard at the sound, getting up quickly and ungraciously, tripping over his own feet as if he hadn’t just been caught lazing around.
Through the doorway, a perfect rectangle of light caught Master’s face, cutting down through one eye and turning his left cheek a tawny brown. He had his hands clasped behind his back, and leant forward slightly.
“Don’t worry about getting up, you’re fine, love. No, I don’t know if you heard, but I was just speaking to my brother Vikram over the phone. He’s going to visit tomorrow.”
Master was having a guest. Col nodded, but his mind went white. He suddenly felt like he wasn’t in control anymore. He was underwater, and Master’s voice barely faded through from above the surface.
“You can stay in your room, okay? You don’t have to come down and see him, if you don’t want to. There’s no pressure. I just wanted to let you know beforehand.”
The words flowed past his head, and whatever barriers had been pulled down over his mind kept them from making a dent. “Thank you, sir,” his body replied.
“Okay?” Master half-smiled. “Okay. Good stuff, Col. It’s a nice day- stay out on the balcony more, I know you like it there. I’ll see you later, okay?”
He nodded, but it must have been delayed, because he blinked and Master had left the room, as if he had never been there. Had Col dreamt it?
Turning around, the flowers were wet, so he had completed that task. He knew he had been ordered to stay, so he did, trying to keep the creeping dread from flooding him entirely.
But-
The next day-
It all came crashing down. His eyes snapped open and he was in his room, waiting, and then there was the click of the front door and Master was speaking, speaking with another voice- there was a man in the house-
Master only ever had guests when his Pet had been bad, and he was going to be taught a lesson, and that’s why he was told to wait in his room, that’s why he was prepped, maybe it was a small mercy. But he had been in such a state of denial, barely able to process the news, that he hadn’t done anything to make it hurt less.
All he knew was that he was on the floor in the corner, the furthest one from the bed, and his arms were wrapped around him as if that’d do anything to stop the onslaught. He knew they would just force his limbs apart and restrain them like that until they were done, and it didn’t matter whether he cried and begged. Sometimes they even enjoyed it more when he did. Once he had been lifted up by his throat and told to beg for his life, and it made everyone laugh, because look at it, it wants this, it’s begging for it.
The door handle turned and Col could see Master’s face. His eyes scanned the room briefly before they landed on Col, tucked away in the corner of the room. “Col? What is it?”
. . .
Hey, Col. Vik is here, just so you know, but again, no pressure to come downstairs. He knew what he would say, the tone he’d say it in, so he could hopefully make Col feel secure. But it all fell apart when he laid eyes on the Pet, curled up and trembling on the far side of the room.
“Col?” he said. “What is it?”
“You promised,” Col sobbed, utterly betrayed. Linden’s heart broke. “You promised you wouldn’t- wouldn’t- wouldn’t do that…”
“I won’t,” he said, understanding immediately and wanting more than anything to go over to Col and pull him into a hug. But he couldn’t. He knew that.
“You said you wouldn’t let anyone else,” he whispered, looking up at him with bloodshot eyes.
Then- the moment of vulnerability passed. Not that Col looked any less vulnerable. He was still hunched, small and weak, programmed to do whatever it took to make Linden happy. But he caught his tongue, and the mask slipped back on.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. You can do- do what you want to me. Of course. I’m not, I don’t mean to question you, Master, I’m sorry, I know my place, I’m good, I promise I’m good.”
“You are, you’re really good.” He put a hand over his heart and kept it there. “I’m not going to come in, Vik isn’t going to come in. Neither of us are going to hurt you. I promised, and I’m sticking to it.”
Col was still sobbing, but it was more uneven breaths than actual tears. He couldn’t have spoken even if he wanted to with the way his lungs were pulling the rug from underneath him.
“For now, I think you might feel safer if I just left you alone, so I’ll go back downstairs, okay? And I won’t disturb you again. You just make sure you feel better, that’s all that matters. Don’t worry, Col. You’re safe.”
-
Vikram didn’t say anything as Linden returned, but he did raise his eyebrows. Linden just nodded, keeping quiet until he was sat back down and, hopefully, out of earshot.
“Poor thing,” said Linden. “He thinks, well- he just sees everything as a threat. I don’t know if he’s ever had a positive experience with another person before. At least not in his memory. Did you…”
He trailed off and Vik simply nodded. All humour was gone from his face; he knew when to leave it out, and when it would help. “Yeah, I heard a bit of it. Heard him crying.”
“I don’t want you to take it personally-“ Linden started, but Vik had already swatted at him.
“Oh, stop it. As if I would. But I am- I am happy I’m here, even though I’m sorry it’s scared him. You need someone too, Linden. Like, shit, this is a full time job.”
“You sound weird, being nice to me” he smiled weakly. Vik grinned back at him, in complete earnest.
“Well then, we can talk about something else, if you want. Something I can confidently mock you for. Where’s Jaffa, too?” he twisted around in his chair, searching for her. His floofed-up hair, hairsprayed to excess, bobbed around on the top of his head as he went. “Where’s my little main attraction?”
Soon Vik had Jaffa on his lap where he was brushing her absent-mindedly, listening to Linden talk about the latest book he had read.
“You are a fuckin’ hermit, dude.”
“And?” Linden pulled his best bored-looking face.
“Well… actually, yeah, stay indoors. Forcing you to come drinking with me would be at the rest of the pub’s expense.”
“You’re a bastard,” Linden laughed. “It’s you they should be worrying about, with that boulder of hair on your head. Look at the state of it, it crunches when you touch it.”
“The ladies love it.”
“Yeah, ‘cause they know if they get locked out they can use it to smash a window.”
. . .
Above them, Col listened. He couldn’t make out the words, but both men seemed happy and upbeat, excited about the night ahead of them, excited about the pliant little bitch waiting upstairs.
Before that, though-
Colton had been openly defiant. He had begged for it to stop before it had even started. He hadn’t taken an ounce of pain, nothing had earned him the right to plead for mercy. He had not only been insubordinate, but he had done it while Master had a guest. That kind of embarrassment would not go unpunished. Master would not have his authority undermined by some common stray.
Col desperately needed to apologise. He knew he shouldn’t just wait for his punishment like usual this time. This time he needed to right the balance. He would prove that he knew his place, and show Master’s guest that his rule here was absolute. So with shaking hands, he slowly creaked open the door, and went downstairs.
The laughter died as he came into view, and even the feeling of their eyes settling over his body made his skin prickle. For a split second, his feet locked in place, but as usual his fear pushed them onwards. He kept his head down, his arms behind his back, his shoulders hunched. As soon as he reached Master’s feet, he knelt. Forehead to the floor. Hands to his sides, ready to be stomped on or grabbed. He was a slave. He was always open for his Master’s use. He did not answer back and he did not question.
“Col, are you, are you sure you want to be here?” Master asked from above. He was very sure. But yes, of course, it was no use Col thinking these kinds of affirmations in his head. He had to make them clear.
“I’m here to apologise, sir, for daring to answer back and embarrassing you. Your Pet knows that he is owned completely and it was c-completely wrong to question you. I had no right to ask for mercy, I don’t deserve any. I’m a mindless Pet with no free will and I exist to serve you. P-Please, accept th-this apology. It won’t- won’t happen again.”
He stammered, towards the end. He could only hope Master wouldn’t get angry about it.
. . .
Ironically, it was now that Linden was embarrassed. He glanced over at Vik, and as the two brothers made eye contact, it was as if they had exchanged a whole conversation.
You see, see what I mean? See how he is?
Yeah, dude. It’s fucked up.
I’m sorry.
Don’t be. You’re doing your best to help him. I’m not embarrassed if you’re not.
He gently reached down to Col and rested a palm on top of his head. He jerked in surprise, a weak gasp escaping his lips, but he otherwise stayed perfectly still.
“Okay, love. Thank you. I’m not angry, okay? My brother is here and he always puts me in a good mood.”
He shot another glance at Vik, mouthing this is how I make him understand. Vik nodded. He was looking at Col curiously. Linden wondered if this was how he had pictured him.
“You didn’t embarrass me. You’re fine. I’m not going to hurt you. Vik doesn’t want to hurt you either. Why don’t you go and sit on the balcony, and I’ll sit with you later, and pet your head? You’re not in trouble.”
As he retracted his hand Col’s head tilted upwards, chasing the warmth of the touch. He kept his eyes low, but whispered, “Thank you, sir, thank you, thank you for having mercy. It won’t happen again, I promise.”
“Okay, you’re okay. Let me help you up.”
It was technically an order, and Col obeyed silently, offering no resistance as Linden slipped a hand over his elbow and pulled him to his feet. He smiled at Col, but his face was blank and resigned. Beyond fear. He had done what he could, and his fate was in Linden’s hands once more. It hurt to know that. Linden could decide to leash Col at any moment, torture him with knives and burning oil and belts, and Col wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.
Linden steered him to the base of the stairs, and then gently encouraged him upwards, until he had drifted out of sight entirely.
The house was silent. He turned back to Vik, but neither had to say anything. Linden already knew that he understood.

Disgusting.
✧ S A K U S A  K I Y O O M I ✧
genre: angst>:(
Word Count: 1479
Sakusa had been having a long day and grew angry and irritated. You didn’t notice at first but when you did you tried to help. So why was he being this way?
Tumblr media
The day was long and practice was not helping Sakusa and his mood. He had already been irritated by the crowded halls now this?
-
Sakusa and you had known each other for a bit. You had been in the same class but never talked since he was usually by himself.
However this changed when the two of you got paired up for a project. After bonding together Sakusa realized you weren’t so bad and could tolerate you.
Months go by and you guys get closer every day. The both of you start to catch feeling for one and another.
You decided you would confess to Sakusa since you just couldn’t hold it in anymore. To your surprise he felt the same way.
Before you guys started dating though he had sat you down and talked to you about some things.
You knew he didn’t like germs and knew if you were in a relationship it’d take time to get use to the physical affection.
You were fine with this though as you liked him so much you were willing to wait for him. No matter how long it took you’d wait until he was comfortable with the physical affection needed in the relationship.
It took a week or two to get use to holding your hand but it was progress.
It felt nice to him and you he loved the warmth your hand emitted. This was a new feeling to him, a good one too.
Another week or two go by and you guys are now able to hug. Not for too long but for long enough for the both of you to get comfort from the feeling.
This was all new to Sakusa, letting someone in his bubble was not something that happened often. The only one allowed this close to him was his cousin or when he was playing volleyball.
It’s now been a month or two into your relationship and you’ve finally kissed! Not wanting to push him limits you waited for him to make the first move with you.
The two of you never cuddled or got too close for a long period of time but you guys were working on it.
-
And that was the progress of your relationship so far.
You had just gotten done with your club activities and were heading to the gym to watch Sakusa at practice.
The two of you had a usual routine of whenever you were done with your club activities, you would head over to the gym. You’d watch Sakusa finish practice and walk home together.
Sometimes you were hangout after but it all depended on the plans you guys made before hand.
Sakusa’s irritation level had risen as his spikes were sloppy this practice. Overall he was just not having a good day.
He was at the point where everything was triggering his anger and irritation. He tried keeping calm as usually though not wanting to disturb anyone.
All he wanted to do at this point was go home. Whether it was he take a shower because of the dirty germs crawling all over him, or him wanting to punch something he knew he did not want to be here.
Sakusa had been so caught up in his own anger and irritation he had completely forgot about you coming. This was definitely not the time he wanted to see you.
Looking at the time he only had 30 minutes left. He took a deep breathe in closing his eyes trying to relax himself a bit.
While he was doing that you were still on your way to the gym. You had been having a pretty good day, meaning you were in a more upbeat mood than usual.
You had just aced your test you’ve been stressing about and it made your overall day. Humming on your way to the gym you were finally by the doors.
This was the time where you usually just enter silently and watch and wait for Sakusa to be done. And that’s exactly what you had done.
Waiting patiently you watched as most of the boys walked out of the locker rooms. You were questioning where Sakusa was because he’s usually the first one in and out.
After a couple more minutes you watched him walk out. You smiled at him only to get a glare back.
Not really questioning it you went up to him and tried giving him a hug.
All he responded with was his hands in front of him holding your shoulders. Had he just rejected your hug?
He had never done that before ever since the two of you started dating.
“What’s wrong Kiyoomi?” You asked.
He just looked at you with a cold glare in his eyes.
He had nothing against you but, again everything was making him more angry and irritated.
Without saying anything he tried just walking away like you weren’t even there. You followed behind wondering what you should do.
You wondered if you should try hugging him again or doing something but you did not want to push his limits.
I mean it’s not pushing his limits right? You’re only trying to hug your boyfriend that’s normal.
Still following behind instead of you hugging him you reached for his hand.
He felt something brush against his hand and he swiftly moved it. Sakusa turned around to see you just staring at him.
“What?” He said coldly.
“What’s up with you today? Are you okay?” you asked worryingly.
“I’m fine.”
“Then why are you acting like that?”
You were talking in a soft worryingly voice while Sakusa sounded monotone and cold.
Sakusa scoffed, “I don’t have the patience to deal with you today.”
“Deal with me? I’m your girlfriend not some chore.” Now you were starting to lose your patience.
Just because he was in a bad mood did not mean he could take it out on you. And if he was going to you weren’t going to just take it.
“Well right now you feel like a chore.” He looked down on you like you were some piece of trash. A chore is what you felt like to him.
“Kiyoomi I just want to know what’s wrong so I can help you,” you said now a little bit irritated.
“Why would I talk about my problems with a disgusting person like you?”
You looked at him in complete and utter shock. Not once has he ever called you that when the two of you weren’t joking around.
“Excuse me?” You said back.
“I know you’re not deaf. You are disgusting. I don’t even know why the hell I’m dating someone as annoying as you.” Sakusa was now just letting everything out on you.
“Is that so? Don’t worry about that anymore than cause we’re over.” While saying this you felt you heart strain as the tears in your eyes started to fall.
You felt so angry and hurt that he would talk to you like this. All you wanted to do was help and he is just telling you all these horrible things.
“Fine by me maybe I can finally find someone better. Not that it’d be that hard.” Sakusa spat back loudly.
“Fuck you.” You walked out of the gym angrily trying to see through your tears. All the pain from those words struck your heart hard. Was this how he felt the whole time?
You took out your phone while walking and aggressively wiping your tears away. You clicked on the contact ‘Kiyoomi ♡ ‘ and blocked.
No way were you going to let someone talk like that to you and just stand there and take it.
On the other hand Sakusa was still in the gym just staring out the doors you walked out of. What had he just done? He didn’t mean any of that.
He loves you. He loved you the day you started dating. So why did he say all of that?
Sakusa now pulled his phone out, knowing you were too far away for him to catch up with you now.
You had always been the sweetest and most caring to him and he spat all of those horrible words at you for what? Just cause he was having a bad day?
Sakusa tapped on your contact trying to text you when he noticed the message went green. A panicked feeling started to settle into Sakusa.
He went on snapchat to check if your name was still there. You had disappeared. And the same thing happened with everything you had contact with him on.
Even though you guys would have small little arguments here and there you had never blocked him. Communication was a big thing for you.
This was when he knew it was over between the two of you. He pushed the love of his life out of it.
Here’s part 2;)

201125 Weverse Magazine ‘BE’ Comeback Interview - V
V: “I wish we were back with ARMY, laughing together” BTS BE comeback interview 2020.11.25
During V’s photo shoot, he’s wearing a different expression in every photo on the monitor. They create a tension and an anticipation because we have no way of knowing what he might do even one second later. But the result is cool from start to finish. It’s V.
How are you doing these days? It’s been a long time since you were able to see your fans. V: I’m not over-stressing about how I can’t meet the fans face to face right now. I just want to see them when it’s safe to meet. I think now, I can wait until then.
As your song says, “Life Goes On.” You decided to keep going on with your life. V: We have to move on. We can’t feel defeated forever. I felt a lot better after making some songs.
Other than working on “Dynamite,” you’ve spent very little time away from home. How do you pass the time when you’re by yourself? V: I really like just spacing out, so I’ll sit in my room doing nothing for hours. I could try putting on a movie, but then I couldn’t concentrate and would just zone out. When that happens, it’s kind of like I’m living without a thought or care in the world. Maybe I should make a song about all of this someday. Probably call it “Spaced.” (laughs) Anyway, these days I’m looking for ways to keep myself happy.
Have you found anything? V: Well, I’m listening to LPs lately. It’s getting to be Christmas season and I love snow, so I bought two or three Christmas LPs to listen to. I’m also listening to old jazz songs by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. Frank Sinatra is cool, like chilled wine; Sammy Davis Jr. is crazy talented. (laughs)
So that’s the type of performer you find cool. V: Those two were also a big inspiration to me while we were working on “Dynamite.” Sinatra has all this jazzy body language, but he also threw some disco in there. And I imagined how Sammy Davis Jr. might dance if there were a mic on stage and he had to dance around it. They were a lot of help when I was finding a way to be upbeat and cool at the same time in “Dynamite.”
I guess making “Dynamite” must have been some consolation even when you couldn’t meet fans due to COVID-19. V: We couldn’t put on a concert and couldn’t see ARMY, so we were feeling more and more drained. It seemed like an endless battle. We really wanted to see ARMY feeling better, so we had to get back up on stage and make another album so that together we could beat this thing. I want to be the friend who’s always cheering ARMY on, but there aren’t many ways to make them feel better.
How was the whole “Dynamite” experience? You made it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and also had a chance to perform in a variety of different styles. V: Shooting the Tiny Desk Concert was a very natural process, which was nice. But actually, with the situation being what it is, we couldn’t really feel much. The day the news came out was of course thrilling. It was great, actually, all of us calling each other and some of us laughing and others crying: “We haven’t gone down the wrong path after all! Turns out we had a chance—it really was possible!”
While you were performing in “Dynamite,” you were also the visual director for BE. I’m sure you were unimaginably busy taking photos, but were you able to communicate well with the other members? V: We communicated smoothly, and I listened to all of their concept ideas and I organized everything around that. If we tried something too natural, it wouldn’t be conceptual enough, so we did our best to strike a balance.
You had everyone sitting in the middle, with the set arranged symmetrically around you. V: That was made possible thanks to everyone having their own ideas. There was no overlap between items, which actually allowed us to create a sense of unity by placing all these different props symmetrically. It wasn’t intended to be symmetrical; each member really did choose something unique.
In your room, you included a violin and a photograph. V: That’s a picture I took. I like photos and drawings, but if I had used any art then I would’ve been using that one particular artist’s work, so I thought I’d better use one of my own photos. I ended up choosing the violin because I learned how to play it but also because I enjoy classical and jazz.
So how do you feel it turned out? V: I made it, so naturally I like it. (laughs) Part of me thinks I should’ve tried something more conceptual. BE was supposed to give off sort of a magazine or poster feel since we didn’t shoot many of those, but it ended up having more of a natural feel to it. But I did think that the next time we try to make a photoshoot conceptual we should move away from that natural look a bit. The group explained their ideas clearly and they were simple enough to do, so I think it all went really smoothly.
It sounds like there were no problems choosing the songs for BE. How did you feel recording your parts on the other members’ songs? V: I like “Dis-ease,” which Hobi hyung wrote, but stylistically it was challenging. It’s really far from my own style so it took a long time to get used to. “Fly to My Room” used to be my favorite song, but it was also the hardest to sing. It was okay at first, until Jimin jumped in.
What about Jimin? V: Because I had to keep up with Jimin, the song went up maybe three keys. I thought I would die. (laughs) It started out as my favorite song, but it was just way too hard to sing.
But why did you have to sing that way? V: Jimin said he was sorry, that he couldn’t go any lower. (laughs) When I first heard the demo version, the key was perfect for me, so I thought it would sound great and I should definitely do it. But then Jimin said he wanted to do it too, so I said, “Great, let’s do it together.” Turns out we went up three keys. So I said, “Hey, what’s the deal? Should I just give up?” But, well, somehow it all worked out in the end. It was a happy ending. (laughs)
People might be able to hear that part better because it’s so much higher. (laughs) The tone of your combined voices and the way they contrast is really impressive. V: Yes, but all that aside, it was quite the struggle. (laughs) And the chorus is really long. I think it repeats, what, four times?
Yes, it feels like the chorus never ends. The production style is very unique. I like how the emotion is carried through the whole way. V: I agree, but it’s so long. The chorus turned out crazy, like I was kind of beating the melody into people’s ears. (laughs) The chorus is good, but the whole song’s melody is really catchy. Whenever I heard the beat, I was totally into it. The way the vocals pick up on the beat and the melody was so original and fun, I just had to do it.
What instructions did you give to the other members when they were singing on your song, “Blue & Grey”? V: I didn’t really have to give them instructions much. I told them it would be nice if they could think of all their problems and then try healing those wounds with their voices, since if they focus on those emotions, there’ll be more feeling in the song. They all did a good job expressing the emotions I wasn’t able to.
It seems like you intended “Blue & Grey” to be a melancholy song. I heard you had originally planned to put it on your mixtape. V: I wrote “Blue & Grey” when I was at my lowest point, when I was actually asking whether I could keep going with my work or not. Even the fun parts of work became a chore, and my whole life felt aimless. “Where do I go from here? I can’t even see the end of the tunnel.” Those kinds of thoughts hit me hard.
Was there a reason for that? V: It was when work was a major challenge. When I’m happy, I want to work, and when I’m happy I can put on a smile and see the fans, but there was just so much work to do. I’m an easygoing, you know, laid-back person, but I was stretched too thin and I was starting to sputter. What I mean is, I was having a really tough time, and thinking, “What’s waiting for me at the end? It’s important to be successful, but I’m also trying to be happy, so how come I’m not happy right now?” That’s when I started to write “Blue & Grey.”
So writing the song was sort of your way of bringing yourself some peace of mind. V: There was a time I was going through something like this. I was having the toughest time, but I couldn’t keep carrying that feeling around with me. Instead, I could use it as a kind of fertilizer. So I took care of that feeling by constantly writing it down in my notes. I just kept writing everything down, and when finally I felt like I wanted to try writing a song, I did. After the song was finished, I felt a sense of accomplishment, and that’s how I was able to let go of “Blue & Grey.” That was one way I wanted to try getting over my problem.
The songs you make or sing solo on all have similar images: night; loneliness; snow. V: I like nighttime and the late-night air, and when it snows, too. I liked those things since way back when, but lately I feel things like snow and the night air keep me alive. They may just be another part of normal life to other people, but to me, they represent very special moments.
That makes me think of the ending from “Blue & Grey”: “After secretly sending my words up into the air / Now I fall asleep at dawn.” V: I don’t really sleep well. I toss and turn and get caught up in a lot of thoughts. Even when I turn out all the lights, I can see everything clearly. I close my eyes, but all my thoughts spread wide open. Then I’m sleepy at work, and staring off into space when I’m alone, with bags under my eyes, but if I want to avoid that then I really have to sleep. Except, with the way I am, it doesn’t allow for it. I wrote about that in the first and second verses; a feeling like, “When I’m stuck thinking like this, everything is grey, and I’m all blue.” I wrote these feelings out as a song, and now that I’m thinking about it again, I’m actually over it. I feel a lot lighter. I sent my words out into the air, and now I fall asleep at dawn. You’re supposed to sleep at night, but I’m sleeping in the morning again. So I say “good night,” but it’s not actually a good night. “I pass out because I’m exhausted” kind of thing. It’s the emotions I felt in those moments that I wanted to express.
What do you hope hearing about that feeling will do for listeners? V: Rather than just some stranger telling them to cheer up, I think it’s better to say something like, “You seem depressed lately,” or, “Seems like these days it’s tough for you to perk up.” “Blue & Grey” is the same: “You’re depressed lately? Me too. We’re in the same boat. Wanna talk about how you’re feeling? You wanna feel better, right? I know, but sometimes it feels like you’re being washed away by a whirlpool of stress.” I want the listeners to hear me saying that to them.
It’s important to express your emotions right away when they’re so overwhelming. V: Yes. I usually write a lot of songs when I’m feeling emotional, but these days I have so many different things to do that I can’t really write anything. I tried to write something before when I had a little time, but nothing came out because the feelings I had were already gone. So I tell myself, “You gotta write a lot when you’ve got the feels!” (laughs) And then I open my notes app and come back to old notes, like, “Ah, so that’s how I was feeling back then? I see. Well, that’s how I used to be, I guess.” So I tried to write “Blue & Grey” quickly, as soon as a big feeling came on.
Then it’s important to revisit those feelings when you’re producing a song or choosing which songs to release? V: If you can’t bring the feeling back, you can’t make the song, either. I release a song if I feel it expresses who I was and how I felt at the time when I wrote it. Even if we record it perfectly, if the result sounds artificial, I would rather release another, more honest sounding song instead, even if it’s not perfect.
Are those the kinds of songs you selected for your mixtape? V: Um … I don’t know. This is my first mixtape, you know, so I feel a ton of pressure about it. I’m thinking all the time about what kind of album I should make so that I can feel satisfied with it. The title track is the title track, but everyone also says to just leave it as it is, but I keep getting the urge to keep putting in more and more.
You usually write and choose songs based on your emotions. Maybe the pressure to make your first mixtape comes from you having a hard time with that. V: I think it still has a long way to go. Maybe it’s because it’s my first mixtape, but it’s so hard. And I feel like it’s a little lazy. People tell me just to put it out and see how it does, but I’d rather know what needs to be fixed before I release it. I also don’t want the title track to be depressing. I want it to be positive and help people beat those depressed feelings. But it’s not easy.
That sounds a lot like what the members conveyed with “Life Goes On.” V: I think we showed the current situation in a very straightforward and honest way. We’re still going, going, going. And the going is tough. But it doesn’t end here. I wish we were back with ARMY, laughing together. I hope we’ll all be happy in the future and keep on doing our own best, cherishing our hope for our happy future.

Tagged by @explosionshark and I haven’t done one of these in a while so let’s go!
1. What is the first song you remember hearing?-
Hmm, I’m not really sure. I think one of them actually might be “good riddance (time of your life) by green day which was all over the radio when i was 3 or 4 but maybe or probly nsync or ricky martin or britney spears or something lol.
2. What is the first band you got into?
Green Day!!! American Idiot came out and I was the right age and it just clicked. Them and My Chemical Romance both shaped my taste!
3. Do you collect any physical music?
Uh. Yeah. I have way too much physical music. Moving it up here to canada was kind of a hassle but I fit it all! I have probly around 200+ cds, maybe more- and over 100 + vinyl, oh and also like 30 tapes probly. (I love cassette tapes)
4. What is your favorite piece of music memorabilia?
All of my vintage nine inch nails shirts and all my pressings of three cheers for sweet revenge on vinyl. But the vintage nin shirts for sure. I have them all in a footlocker back in pennsylvania and I cannot wait to get them back because I love them so much. I snipe em on ebay for great prices (mostly).
5. The favorite concert you’ve been to?
Even though I went with someone that would’ve been nice to not go with, I also went with my brother so- nine inch nails back in 2018. It was also cool to see My Chem at Madison sq. garden back in 08′. But I think nine inch nails put on one of the best shows i’ve ever seen on a big scale. (yo but also back in 2019 seeing ghostemane for the first time was fucking cool as hell)
6. If you could see one artist who is no longer alive in concert, who would it be?
Nirvana for sure. I think. They’re one of my favorite bands still and to this day I keep finding meaning in their music and through interviews. They genuinely were the musicians who broke the mold and were just doing it because they loved to play music. They’re the first band I can think of. (i think seeing lil peep would be cool too?)
7. Have you met any musicians?
Oh yeah, thomas erak from fall of troy, lemmy from motorhead, frank iero from mcr, ghostemane, chris motionless a bunch of times, jake casualty randomly in the middle of soho lol. and a bunch of other people at warped tour etc. MANY musicians! I wanna meet lady gaga! I wanna meet trent reznor!
8. What’s your go to album when you’re feeling sad?
You know, I don’t really know. I haven’t really put an album on that I listen to when I get sad in a while (mostly cos I don’t really get sad anymore). I remember listening to a lot of emo going through shit in highschool. But I think I’ll probly go with The Fragile by Nine inch nails- It just gives me a melancholic feeling.
9. What’s your go to album when you’re feeling happy?
Elephant by the white stripes? That’s the first one that came to mind. Fun to drive to. Or maybe Speak and Spell by depeche mode cos its so upbeat. -edit, deffo fall out boy’s first two records FOR SURE
10. One music documentary you love?
I liked the VH1 metal history series whatever it was called. Shame they only did such a broad range of metal subgenres. Obviously they could have gone way deeper. Like the hip hop one I’m watching on netflix; There is so much history of hip hop its so cool to see how different regions took that genre and bent it in such a short time. Really cool shit.
11. What is one concert DVD that you love?
I really don’t watch live DVDs they’re not really my thing but Bullet in a a Bible by Green Day is obviously a banger.
12. Do you prefer listening to playlists or albums?
Albums if I’m in the car, Albums if I’m spinning wax, playlists if I’m doing chores or something and playlists if I’m in the shower.
13. Do you listen to albums in order or on shuffle?
playlists go on shuffle but albums are most certainly in order 1000% of the time. if you like albums shuffled you’re a monster.
14. What is your favorite deep cut song by your favorite artist?
omg Summerboy by lady gaga off of the fame. Pretty much a lot of the fame are some deep cuts and I fucking love that album. I like it rough? Star Struck? bangers. Listen to this album if you like 80s synth dance music- gaga was so ahead of her time.
15. What is your favorite CD/cassette/vinyl you own in terms of its packaging?
hmm- I think I’d probly go with shout at the devil by motley crue because I got an original pressing that still has a catalog in it to send money to an address and get xyz (shirt, record, accessory) like I just think its really cool. I can’t really think of any that stand out too much. Gatefolds are obviously pretty cool though. But nothing as of right now strikes me.

i know the whole games ost is rock, but do you have any thoughts about what kinda music the guilty gear cast listens to?
Cute concept! I would say ‘I wonder if any other music exists in-universe’ but if I remember correctly it’s canon that at least country is still a thing.
Also please know that my tastes are shit and I know nothing
-Well, you just *know* Ky’s going to be into his fancy classical/opera music, though it also wouldn’t surprise me if he also had a ‘stress relief’ record that’s just entirely screamo and death metal
-Dizzy doesn’t know much about music variety still, but she loves listening to records with Ky as a bonding activity in their free time. A bit unrelated but she also has a lot of simple little working ditties memorized from her childhood that’s prone to humming or singing while doing chores.
-The Jellyfish obviously enjoy a good sea shanty, at least on principle. May has a bright aesthetic so I could see her having a taste for this that are a little poppier
-Johnny is a jazz man, and a jazz player, but he played careless whisper too many times so someone threw his saxophone over the bannister while they were flying over the Pacific
-I got an ask way back when about Sin liking classical partly out of defiance for Sol and ngl I’m still hooked on it. And at this point I 100% believe he’s fucking sick of Queen just because Sol has been making him listen to it nonstop for four or so years while preaching about how it’s the best music. A general rule of thumb is that he’ll find just about anything at least enjoyable as long as it isn’t Queen music. Sin’s also fascinated in music as a form of storytelling
-(time for me to be cringe on main again but) Bedman likes classical and whatever electronic-adjacent music they have in the future, not because he’s pretentious (ok maybe a little) but because it’s nice to stim to. He’ll just sit and flap whenever something he likes is on
-Faust Kiznavier Elevator Disco
-Zappa generally likes keeping his music upbeat for motivation but if he so much as hears a swear word he cringes because he can feel his mother’s disappointment radiating all the way from Australia.
-Potemkin, as always, has god-tier taste, it’s all generally laid back, he has separate playlists for paperwork and for painting. He’s got enough going on that he just needs some feel-good music
-Elphelt *wants* to love every cutesy lovesong in existence, and she mostly does, but she also has a massive soft spot for power ballads, which she will karaoke to as a form of stress relief and immediately panic if anyone walks in on her.
-Answer isn’t especially picky when it comes to music, but he likes listening to the chorus of croaking frogs outside his tent to fall asleep at night
-I would make a joke about Chipp and Naruto songs but actually I unironically think he’d find Japanese music fascinating in terms of what makes it culturally unique, and he’d try to construct his own shamisen to play songs he learned on. It’s...not going all that great, but he’s very enthusiastic!
-Jam plays the last existing copy of Dolly Parton’s ‘Nine to Five’ on loop to psyche herself up in the morning every day before work
-Raven doesn’t care what other people play around him just as long as it’s loud enough to literally destroy his ears.
-Axl is probably at least a bit of an 80′s rock snob like Sol is, but considering his time travel it’s fun to imagine he has the most eclectic tastes ever. And I don’t just mean music across decades. He once heard a lute song in a German bar sometime in the mid 900′s and it’s been stuck in his head for months. Also he memorizes Weird Al Yankovich covers of Queen sings just so he can troll Sol with them
-Ram wasn’t expecting to like music, but Sin keeps introducing her to new genres and she loves them all! Music makes her really happy since it can convey all different kinds of emotion and it’s a new experience! Only downside is that she will absolute sing songs under her breath, so if a song’s stuck in her head, it’s only a matter of time before it’s stuck in everyone else’s too.

Executive dysfunction life hacks, loopholes, and shortcuts
By me, your local adhd disaster
Some of these I am currently not doing but that’s more of a funds and location situation b/c I’m living with my parents
Get one of those roomba vacuums that plugs into a station. That way you only need to empty it once a month, and you don’t have to worry about remembering to vacuum.
Get one of those air filtering systems. I’ve heard that they suck the dust out of the air (less cleaning, yay!!) and it’s supposed to be really good for people with allergies and asthma. These, too, only need to be emptied once a month or so.
PAPER PLATES. PAPER PLATES EVERYWHERE. You WILL thank me, when you don’t have a pile of dirty dishes piled up in the sink. Yes, have regular dishes, but save those for special occasions, and use paper plates and disposable cutlery for everyday.
If you can, set up your bills to be paid automatically, top priority, every month. That way you don’t have to worry about forgetting to pay them, and you don’t have to worry about not having enough money, because you pay them FIRST, and then use the rest for other expenses. (Is it obvious I have no clue how banking works?)
Keep a wastebasket in your room. That way you can throw out all of the food wrappers without having to trek all the way to the kitchen/bathroom/wherever, and having a trash free bedroom is a must.
Try to do your laundry once a week, because if you’re anything like me, you’ll have only gone through three or four outfits, and it’s way easier and less time consuming/stressful/requires less spoons to fold three shirts, two pants, and six pairs of socks than folding a months worth of clothes.
NO DUMPING LOCATIONS. Try to not have a beanbag chair/steamer trunk/desk/whatever in your bedroom, because you WILL want to dump your laundry and assorted things there to deal with later. DO NOT. I do not have one, but I want to get a desk for my bedroom, and I will be getting a slanted drafting desk, because if it’s flat, I WILL dump things there.
Avoid over-complicated neurotypical organizers. If you’re not going to hang up your shoes every time, then just get a big bucket to dump them in. You will not be tempted to dump not-shoes into your shoe bucket, because shoes are gross and dirty and you don’t want your things dirty. **This comes with the caveat that you might wear the same two pairs of shoes over and over again, simply because you can’t see your other shoes.**
If you take medication every morning, put your Flintstones vitamins (or equivalent) right next to your medication so that you don’t forget to take it. I know that I forget to take my vitamins, and it’s really not good because I’m borderline anemic, and I’m not getting enough iron.
On that note, DRINK WATER. I will forget to drink water, so I try to make it fun. I’ll drink out of a dollar tree chalice, or a pirate’s rum bottle, or I’ll take shots or smth. If you can’t make yourself drink water b/c of the taste or smth (which happens), try to drink Gatorade or other flavored electrolyte juices (my go-to is fruit punch Gatorade, which is great until you brush your teeth and think you’re bleeding)
If you rely on packaged snacks to eat, try to buy healthier snacks, such as granola bars, trail mix, fruit cups, etc., b/c they’ll have nutrients that you need, and b/c sometimes the flavor mix up from ‘sugary junk food’ to ‘salty trail mix’ or whatever can be satisfying to those of us who get bored with repeating things. You don’t need to completely cut out junk food, b/c any food is better than none, but it will make you feel better if you’re in the mindset of, “I’m gross, I don’t eat healthy, I don’t work out,” b/c then you’ll be like, “wait, I ate a fruit cup today! Fruit is healthy!” And fruit is tasty and has water and vitamins.
Facial wipes. Sometimes (most of the time) I’m in a rush to leave or I just don’t have the energy to pull out the face scrub and completely wash my face, so facial wipes are a must. The ones I get act as a cleanser and makeup remover, and they don’t require rinsing afterwards (though I prefer to rinse my face if I can). These are great, because if you’re self concious of acne or oily skin, but can’t bring yourself to completely wash your face, these will make you feel fresh and clean.
Wide toothed combs for my friends with crazy curly hair. When I had mono (AVOID AT ALL COSTS) I would roll out of bed (often already partially in my uniform) brush my teeth, and use one of these on my hair. It was a huge change from before, when I would take a shower every single morning, and spend at least ten minutes on my hair and appearance every day. The trick with these (to not brush your curls out completely, but also avoid tangles and rats nests) is to start from the bottom with DRY hair, then wet your hands and run your fingers through, dampening the curls enough to re-clump and re-curl them, without making your hair dripping wet.
If you have to/like to wear makeup, but don’t like that it costs so many spoons, try to figure out why. My makeup routine used to take 30 minutes for just the basics, but recently I bought a kabuki brush (so soft!!) and it took 10 minutes to do my makeup. I then realized that my routine before consisted of 50% makeup application, and 50% washing my hands a million times b/c I had a super small sponge applicator and I’d use my fingers a lot.
If you have hobbies that require a bunch of supplies, but organizing them is a pain, get a giant plastic tub and dump everything in there. That way you don’t have to worry about “my paints are over here, but my canvases are over there” because giant tubs can fit a lot. I recently did this with my knitting and crocheting stuff, and it’s great, because while, yes, I really liked the baskets I had them in before (pretty woven reed ones), they weren’t conducive to stacking, and I had so much yarn that it would fall out and roll everywhere.
If you have trouble getting out of bed, try sleeping with a pet. When my dog would sleep with me, I’d have to get up to let her out in the morning, which was a mental “hey, be aware, you have to get up soon” when I went back to bed. DO NOT RELY ON THIS METHOD, use it as more of a guide/reminder, unless you have a specially trained service pet.
Try feeding your pets treats at the same time every day, coinciding with your ideal mealtimes. That way, they know it’s time for them to eat, and they’ll remind you, and you’ll remember to eat. **this also works with children, in that they’ll make you make them food, and you’ll be reminded to eat**
Slippers are great for of your feet get cold easily/you don’t like dirty feet/you don’t have the energy to put on shoes. Be aware, though, that if you don’t like dirty feet, or if your feet get really cold, you should wear socks with your slippers, because if you don’t, your feet will get really sweaty (gross) and then, b/c your feet are damp (ew) they’ll get EVEN COLDER (no)
Lists are good. If you’re like me, though, and you need about five separate lists (one for your daily routine, one for chores, one for your daily goals, one for your weekly goals, one for things you’d like to do eventually, one for ideas you want to look up, etc) get a day+week+month planner. If you’re like me, you won’t want to use a 2020 planner if you’re beginning it in July (b/c my brain is weird and doing that is just Not A Good Idea, though it isn’t Banned) so if you’re weird like me get one without any dates in it (or ambiguous dates, like the month and day, but not the year or specific week day) so you can start anytime, or plan ahead and get the yearly one in December.
Reward yourself!! If you know you did everything you’re supposed to in a week, buy a Frappuccino or an ice cream, something you don’t get very often. If you’ve been putting off watching that show, but you went for a walk two days this week, watch that episode! *try not to make the rewards too vague/far off or too close, because you either won’t do it because “I’m never gonna get one” or “why should I, it’s RIGHT THERE”
Put music on while you’re working/cleaning/etc. upbeat music will get you dancing, and hey you’re standing up, so you might as well take these shirts those three feet to the hamper.
Use the “fuck it” method (I’ll try it, and if it works, nice, if it doesn’t, fuck it, I gave it a shot.)
If all else fails, throw your phone away (social media is a huge distraction, I spent an hour writing this instead of doing other things)
Please feel free to add on to this!! I am always in need of finding new ways to do things, as I either forget, or realize there are too many steps to doing a thing, and my brain doesn’t like it.

V: “I wish we were back with ARMY, laughing together”
(laughs).
V: I like “Dis-ease,” which Hobi wrote, but stylistically it was challenging.

PART 1 PART 3
MASTERLIST
your legs twisted in between jeff’s, turning in his arms and rolling to face the glass sliding doors that led to the balcony, not another house in sight next to his house. you wrap a blanket around your body, opening the door slowly and stepping out into the warm morning, taking in the sun as it beamed down on the world.
you lean against the house, inhaling deeply and taking in the smell of the wet earth, and it smelt like heaven. you turned back into the room, shutting the door softly and leaning against the glass as jeff’s eyes watched your every move.
you drop the blanket, jeff groaning and sitting up, moving the blankets so you can climb in. you hold his cheek and kiss him, his arms wrapping around your waist and bringing you to straddle his waist. your fingers rake through his hair, your lips slowly moving together as he smiles. “i love waking up to you, princesa. but it makes going to work harder” his finger brushes a piece of hair out of your eyes and tucks it behind your ear.
“but, you know you’ll be coming home to me, with a clean home and a good girl on your bed” you tell him in a low voice, nose brushing his. he smiles, holding a fist full of your hair and pulling you down again.
“you’ve been such a good girl for me so far. for the past couple of weeks you’ve gotten nice gifts, hm?” you nod and smile, jeff’s eyes flickering between yours. “it’s been a while since you’ve gotten a nice gift, huh, good girl?”
“yes daddy, i have” you agree, jeff sitting up and pressing a kiss to your neck and collarbone, fingers holding your hips.
“what would would like when i come home, princesa?” the vibrations of his voice bounces off your skin, making goosebumps rise, nails digging into his biceps. “i know you have something on your mind, you’ve been looking at it for a while now” his lips now touching your jaw. your mind was cloudy whenever he kissed you, anywhere, or touched you. you were wrapped around his finger- and he was wrapped around yours.
“t-the cartier ring. i know it’s a bit expensive but-”
“done. i’ll pick it up on my way home. but.. you know what you need to do in order to earn it, right, princesa?” you bit your lip and grind your hips down, jeff sucking in a breath and groaning into your jaw as you coat his cock with your wetness. “come on, princesa, ride daddy’s cock” he bites your neck and you listen, positioning yourself and sliding onto him, his cock stretching you out still. you gasp and hold his biceps, jeff shushing quietly as he eases you down.
“your cock is so big, daddy, fuck” his cock fills you up, whimpering as it already hits your g-spot.
“you love when daddy fills up your tight pussy, huh? such a good girl for daddy” his hands hold your ass as he raises you up and down, moaning into his neck. he presses you down on him, making your thighs shake. “i love feeling you clench that gorgeous around my cock, fuck, you’re perfect”
you grip the hair in the nape of his neck, kissing his neck. “daddy i need to cum, please, can i cum?”
jeff shakes his head, and picks up the pace of his hips. “no.. wait for me.. don’t cum” he whimpers and you squeeze your eyes, tuning out the sounds he makes as he comes close to his orgasm. his hand sneaks down to your sensitive nub, your walls tightening around his cock. “cum for me, baby, you’re such a good girl waiting for me, cum” he throws his head back and you moan into his neck, jeff’s fingers gripping your ass and moaning into your ear as his seed spills into you. he rolls you over to hover on top of you, smiling down and kissing you sweetly.
he slowly pulled away, kissing your forehead and going into the bathroom, turning on the shower. he comes back into the bedroom and holds out his hand and you smile, taking it and following him into the nice, big shower for round 2.

you tie your silk robe around your nude body, wrapping your hair into a loose bun on top of your head. you head downstairs and put a k-cup into the keurig and brewing a cup of coffee for you and jeff, stirring your cream and sugar around in the hot beverage, leaning over the counter and texting corinna about catching up later that day.
jeff comes down stairs and you nearly spit out your coffee, softly groaning as your eyes scan his body from hair to shoes. “you have to go to work like that? i don’t want any other girls trying to fuck you” you pull his tie and bring him down, jeff’s breath fanning over your lips and he smiles.
“i never want to have any other girl, yn. i only want you, sweetheart” he reassures you in a low octave, making you smirk and pull him down, connecting your lips and wrapping your arms around his neck, jeff lifting you onto the island. your phone dung and you pull away, picking it up. jeff snatches it and you huff and he ticks, giving you your phone back. “oh no, no no. you cannot go anywhere until you do what you’re supposed to do” you whine and kick your foot, jeff holding your jaw and making you look at him. “that attitude better go away real quick, because if it doesn’t, you’re not getting that ring. you’re getting a red ass and you’re getting the punishment of not walking for a day. understood?”
“yes daddy” you give him puppy dog eyes and he smiles, kissing your nose.
“good girl” he sips the last of his coffee, putting the mug into the semi-filled sink of dirty dishes. he kisses you against and pulls away. you hold out your leg and stop him, grabbing his collar and kissing him passionately.
“only me..” you mumble and he chuckles, biting your bottom lip.
“only you, sweetheart. i will see you tonight, where you can hopefully get that ring that you have been wanting for a while now. i’ll call you on my lunch break, alright?”
“yes daddy. see you tonight” he pecks your lips and grabs his briefcase, winking at you and blowing you a kiss before closing the garage door behind him. you sigh and hop off the counter, finishing your breakfast and putting you dishes in the sink. you went over and grabbed you phone, texting corinna you couldn’t see her today, and she replied, “i know, jeff texted. i’ll see you tomorrow x”
corinna was really the only one who knew about you and jeff. her and david both knew, but that’s because you’re closest with the two of them. you put on some upbeat playlist, putting the dishes in the dishwasher away, putting the dirty ones in the in the dishwasher, cleaning the counters and dancing around.
you head upstairs, grabbing the laundry basket and bringing it downstairs. you separate them into different piles, throwing one into the washer and taking out the ones from the dryer and bringing them upstairs, putting them on a hanger or folding them and putting them away
--
the garage door opens and you smile, jumping up and standing with your hands behind your back. “oh, it smells so good in here, hello baby” you hurry over to him and hold his cheeks, kissing him sweetly.
“i’ve missed you so much, and look! go look everywhere! i cleaned, just like you asked, daddy” his heels clicked as he walked around the house, a smile on your face with cheeks rosy, excited as you saw what he held in his hands behind his back as he walked.
he came down the stairs and licked his lips, nodding and you bounce on your heels. “you are such a good girl, you know that?”
“yes i do, daddy, you tell me all the time” you bounce up and kiss him, looking up at him and grinning ear to ear.
“you did everything you were asked to do, and you know what comes out of this, right, sweetheart?” his eyes get hazy and you bit your lip, nodding a little too excitedly. he puts his hands out in front of you, opening his palm, where the small red cartier box laid in his hand.
“oh thank you thank you thank you daddy!” you take the box and wrap your arms around his neck, jeff spinning you around and laughing.
“you’re welcome baby, now open it up, see if it fits” you stand with your back against his front, his hands on your hips as you open it. you gasp, surprised to see 2 different sized rings. you spin in his arms, looking up at him.
“why are there 2, jeff? one doesn’t fit me” you take it out and jeff holds out his hand. you smile, sliding the ring on his right middle finger, and you slid it on the same finger on your right hand. he takes the box and puts it in his pocket, holding your hand.
“this is my promise to you, that you are the only one for me. the only girl i want to kiss in the morning and kiss goodnight, the girl i want to come home to every night and take on vacations and celebrate every holiday and birthday with you. this is my promise to you, sweetheart” you smile and grip his hair, wrapping your legs around his waist and kissing him deeply.
“thank you.. thank you, thank you” you kiss him over and over, tears flowing down your cheeks.
“why are you crying, angel?” he sits down on the couch and brushes a piece of hair out of your face, tucking it behind your ear. he kisses your wet cheeks, rubbing your back.
“thank you.. for saving me, jeff. i can’t ever repay you for any of this, but i’ll try, by doing whatever you ask” he shakes his head and kisses you, rubbing your back softly.
“no angel, you don’t ever have to pay me back. you pay me back by living with me, kissing me, caring about me- truly caring about me. you pay me back by being my lifelong friend, angel” you let out another soft cry and he smiles, kissing you over and over. “enough crying, let’s celebrate! you got your dream gift!” you laugh and he chuckles, kissing your jaw. “come on, put on your sexiest dress and i’ll see you down here in and hour and 30, got it?”
“yes daddy!” you kiss him quickly and run up the stairs, jeff laughing at you, sighing, thinking about how lucky he is to finally have you in his life again.

reviewing may’s comebacks (in june, because i have shit to do)
There were a lot of comebacks this month. I guess it's summer now? No idea, there's no summer in my country. The girl groups have started coming back in full force but are not impressing. The boy groups seemed to mostly go the groovy route and now I need an adjective other than 'groovy' to describe songs.
Not The End, Highlight
I'm so glad it's not a ballad. It's not bad.
You are so beautiful, SGO
Everyday I'm grateful for the retro trend and this is a great representation.
Gray Area, Hi Cutie
At some sections I like this song (the verses and the chorus) and at others I dislike it (the trap breakdown, the middle of the chorus). I complained about MAJORS' company having no money previously but Hi Cutie's company is bankrupt. Poor nugus.
Dreamcatcher and GWSN have far superior 'Red Suns' but this song is okay and I'm happy the girls look so happy to have some work (and hopefully some money) at last.
Today, CITI
A nice midtempo song. And no, I did not hear it first from a drama OST.
Make Up Your Mind, AILEE
Sounds like a Beyonce-type song.
MALO, SHAX
Apparently this is a drama OST (Imitation, to be specific. It's based on a webtoon). Basic boy group song but it sounds like it's from the 2010s or something, and that's a compliment.
Hot Sauce, NCT Dream
Initially: Um...at least Renjun looks good? Honestly I don't know what to say about this song. NCT is a group I stan so this will definitely grow on me but...is this really not an advertisement for hot sauce? Also the set resembles the set for SHINee's Atlantis in my opinion. Now: The shouting is annoying and unnecessary. Love Chenle's voice in this; it provides a nice contrast to Haechan and Renjun. Someone said the chanting should've been left to the rappers and I fully agree. Don't know about Jisung and Jaemin but Jeno and Mark would be a good fit with a chant. In my opinion the dance break isn't really needed but is it NCT without a dance break? Also, wtf are they wearing around their necks? Someone should inform the SM stylists that less is really more.
DUN DUN DANCE, OH MY GIRL
It's light and pleasant but if this song was a meal it would be a tiny appetizer that tastes good but doesn't satiate you.
WHATEVER, KEEMBO
I didn't think I'd like it at first but this is groovy and makes me want to dance while doing my chores.
Always, VAV
Song for the fans but if you need a VAV song to listen to I recommend Gorgeous.
Hurt, Baekhyun & Seomoontak
Hasn't Baekhyun been shipped off to the army yet? Anyway, love how dramatic this is.
Waiting for Victor, 015B ft. Dawon
Another great retro song! Also the singer is cute and her hair is cute as well. She reminds me of Chuu a little.
Uncertainty Principle, 015B ft. Dawon
I prefer their other song, but this one is retro as well and it's great.
척하면 척, 강혜연 (Kang Hyeyeon)
Trot that's kind of subdued but still danceable.
Badly, SURA
Loved it from the first second.
BLACK MIRROR, ONEUS
Then: Is it good enough to make up for No Diggity? I don't know about that, but this song is groovy and I'm somewhat okay with it. Doesn't have much replay value for me though. Now: Eh, it's basic groovy boy group song but I won't skip if it comes on.
Breathe Again, BLITZERS
Another boy group with a somewhat questionable name. This song is pretty good as a debut and it's somewhat memorable. I wonder if my rating increeased because of the guitars? District 9 was the same for me, but right now it doesn't interest me. I think this song will stay for a good while on my playlist though. I like the anthemic vocals in the chorus and this song needed more of that.
EASY, WJSN THE BLACK
The girls looked good but the storyline kept getting interrupted by shots of the girls. Yes, we know they're all visuals but I'd be more interested if there was actual action and plot. The song is good objectively but doesn't really interest me. Who knows? Maybe a few more listens will change my mind.
Outerspace (ft. Loco), Kang Daniel
Groovy and better than his last two releases.
Giant, Yuqi
So nice to hear Yuqi's voice on its own. The song was fine until the chorus crushed all my love for it.
Glass of Tears, HONG JA
Appropriately dramatic for a song named 'glass of tears'. It's good and if you like trot you'll like this one.
Taste of Life, Yang Ji Eun
What do you call this? Folk trot? Whatever it's called, it's good.
LOOK AT ME, ICU
OK.
WE GO, fromis_9
It sounds like the token girl group summer song. I don't dislike it, but nothing about this song stands out to me. Honestly with a mini-album called '9Way Ticket' I expected more, because it reminds me of Nine Muses' Ticket everytime I see it. The b-side 'Airplane Mode' is pretty good though and the other one, 'Promise' is a slow song but I don't really mind it, it's fine as background music.
Next Level, aespa
Umm...what is SM's plan for these girls? How can a rookie group from the big 3 have only 3 songs? And only one is an original? The song is not the best thing ever and SM surely can do better but at least it wasn't as bad as M.A.F.I.A. aespa deserves more than this.
Ring Ring, ROCKET PUNCH
Finally after Bim Bam Bum these girls have a title track I enjoy. You can't go wrong with covering Take On Me, can you? It's no Platonic Love or Sea of Moonlight, and it certainly could have done without the rubbish trap section but it's a bop anyway. Meanwhile, the b-side Ride is great and I hope they promote it. This song would be more enjoyable if their voices weren't so shrill in the chorus. High notes aren't a necessity for good songs.
Advice, Taemin
Not the best of Taemin but it's good. I love the fast tempo of the piano and the way it drives everything. Taemin's performance also elevates this song and I'm grateful he's leaving us with a good song before going on his two-year vacation.
RUB-A-DUM, TRI.BE
They're really going all out with this 'tribe' thing, aren't they? It sounds very Middle Eastern to my ears at times, sometimes it sounds African-ish and the other times it is just typical trap kpop. DOOM DOOM TA was better and more fun. At least they got the catchy catchphrase right. Blackpink in your area who? Tri-bee da loca! The b-side 'LORO' is not much fun either. The only difference is it's Latin-influenced.
Shadow, Dreamcatcher
Typical Dreamcatcher song slowed down by a lot. It's not bad, plus it's nice to hear Dami sing. Also what is it with Korea and zombies? With the MV the song sounds a lot better but the MV distracts me. Shouldn't zombies be mindless? How do they use tools and know martial arts? Or is it just my eyes? And can that tiny gun protect anybody? Are you sure that's not a toy?
The beginning of spring, E'LAST U
Not horrible but not for me either.
Oh MAMA, BLING BLING
One of the few new ggs in a while with unfortunate names. They've clearly upgraded in terms of styling and MV budget, but their song quality is no different.
Let Me Know, PIXY
Sonically it sounds nothing like their dark concept. Actually it does sound like a dark concept, if done by a boy group. It's not bad but it's not good. The industrial-like sounds in the back are interesting but the whole song is not.
Son of Beast, TO1
TOO rebrands as TO1 with this song. It's groovy.
HAPPEN, Heize
For the first time I like a Heize song. The MV is interesting too, the story was cliche but I liked the visuals and aesthetics.
FEVER, ENHYPEN
Rhis song was from the [BORDER: CARNIVAL] mini. I listened to that mini but I remember not really liking any of the b-sides except the outro and the intro, so this is a surprise.
My Flower, Kim Jaehwan
Nice upbeat song with guitars all over it. I like it.
Corazon Perdido, Yesung (Super Junior)
Initially I wasn't going to review this because I didn't even review the title track but the final moments of this song are beautiful and it deserves a mention.
Butter, BTS
The song is smooth as its title. The MV is fine except for that ARMY thing; I cringed so hard.
Bonnie and Clyde, Yuqi
Better than the other one.
Ride, ROCKET PUNCH
This is so great and I'm glad it got its own video, even if it was just a dance video glorified as a 'Special Stage'. Now if only I could stop chuckling whenever I hear "looks rike a lainbow".
Rush Hour, GAHO
Love it, especially the guitar strumming moments and the chorus when the electric guitar comes in.
GEMINI, AB6IX
Love how the vocals don't distract from the great instrumental.
FIRST, EVERGLOW
In a comment section someone said La Di Da was a fluke and I kind of agree. Everglow returns to their usual style (chanty chorus + catchy riff repeated over and over) and this song is in the same vein as Adios. I like the chorus but the rest of the song is hard to recall. Siyeon, Aisha and Yiren are the only ones who actually look good and EU needs more lines and her blonde hair back. Also why does kpop think that moving the camera around a lot creates the illusion of motion? All it does is make me dizzy.
Like It Hot, GWSN
Sometimes I like GWSN title tracks, and sometimes I don't. I don't think much of this song, but their album is great.
Je T'aime, Joy
I love you Joy but this is boring. If it was meant to be a lullaby then SM succeeded.
Burned All Black, Kim Jaehwan
His other song is a ballad which is somewhat pleasant. Well, it was until it slowed down in the first chorus.
Purple, woo!ah!
Still not one song from woo!ah! I like.
GGOMA, Tae Ho (IMFACT) and Choi Ye Geun
Loved Choi Ye Geun's Scarecrow so I was happy to see her again. The song is groovy but the chorus sounds somewhat...empty? Love the scat at the end, should've been longer. This is also a great example of a bright boy group song. See? Upbeat and bright boy group concepts don't have to be childish.
DIAMOND, Sparkling
Another Imitation OST. I honestly doubt that there are actual kpop songs as bad as this.
7days Tension, Weeekly
Ad song. Bright and the chorus is nice.
0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You), TXT feat. Seori
The angsty opening line caught my attention, then the verse after it dropped the energy. It picked up again in the chorus and pre-chorus, thankfully. It's very much pop rock, except there are no guitars in this. Doesn't stop the song from being good though.
Hello, Joy
I love Joy's voice as always but this song doesn't do much for me even though it's upbeat. A few more listens might change my mind.
Call Me, Omega III
Another Imitation OST. Doesn't do much for me, just like all the Imitation MVs. At least let us understand what your drama is about. Instead we get these random shots of what idols are supposed to be like? I don't know much about idol life but it's obvious these girls would be called nugus in real life, and I honestly doubt nugus have such nice living conditions.
No Answer, LA LIMA
Jiyeon from T-Ara is on this one. This and MALO are my favourites from the Imitation OST so far. The song is nice with a sleek catwalk vibe to it but like the rest the MV is boring.
Show Me, Tea Party
Are these the Omega III girls? Not sure but I think so. MV still boring, song doesn't interest me.
Let me go!, The Volunteers
Great rock song, I just wonder why it's all in English (I'm not complaining).

Okay! I have a burning question for you, my dude. Music is my life, and I wanna know what kind of music the OPM casts listen to. Thanks, my guy!
I had a feeling this would be inevitable lol. I don’t really know a whole lot about music or genres or anything like that so I’m just gonna give you a rundown of each character individually and some song recs along with that just to smooth things out a little. Thanks for your ask, by the way! ❤️ Now my playlists will be put to good use.
A Brief Rundown of the Major OPM Characters’ Music Tastes:
Blast: hc that he doesn’t even have ears since he never fucking LISTENS
Terrible Tornado: Stuff that makes her feel powerful. Loud vocals and good instrumentals. Also, she’s a little angsty since she’s saltier than the gotdamn Pacific almost all of the time. (Recs: Florence and the Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, Susanne Sundfør - Delirious, Florence and the Machine - What Kind of Man, Kali Uchis - Dead to Me, Let’s Eat Grandma - Falling Into Me)
Fubuki: some of that real classy shit. Slow songs that are nice to just have a cup of tea with. Nothing too meaty or fast-paced, she enjoys taking a moment to breathe every once and a while since life gets pretty hectic when you’re managing a gang of some 30 hooligans. (Recs: Wes - Midnight Low, any song from Lana Del Rey’s entire discography lol, Florence and the Machine - Grace, The Marìas - I Don’t Know You, Yellow House - Ain’t Gonna Call, Feng Suave - Toking, Dozing)
Silverfang: Stuff from his time. I hc that he was a bit of a party animal back in his prime so he’s gotta have those grooves. Disco to the extremo. Also, another hc: Garou absolutely hates his music. He would play it during training and Garou would contemplate homicide. (Recs: Frankie Valli - Grease, The Edgar Winter Group - Free Ride, KC and the Sunshine Band - I’m Your Boogie Man, Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride, The Main Ingredient - Everybody Plays the Fool, Andrea True Connection - More, More, More)
Bomb: save as Silverfang, although I hc that Bomb was a little more of a nerd growing up. Still, he never missed out on a good party. (Additional Recs: KC and the Sunshine Band - Get Down Tonight, The Trammps - Disco Inferno, Tierra - Together, Cornelius Bros and Sister Rose - Too Late to Turn Back Now)
Atomic Samurai: Old shit. Shit older than Silverfang. He’s really not that old, but his soul is fucking ancient and he’s got that classic “grrr music these days sucks” kind of shithead attitude. (Recs: Jim Croce - Time in a Bottle, Dion - Runaround Sue, The Carpenters - The End of the World, The Band - The Weight)
Child Emperor: Upbeat synth. Stuff to listen to while he’s working on his machines and whatnot. Probably has meaty beats to keep him in tune with what he’s doing, like working around a clock. Probably some groovy citypop in there too. (Recs: Taeko Ohnuki - 4:00 AM, Junko Ohashi - Telephone Number, Tatsuro Yamashita - Magic Ways, Hiroyuki Sawano - NEXUS, Superfly - Kakusei, Mariya Takeuchi - Plastic Love)
Metal Knight: Intrumentals that Disney villains listen to. Deep, dark shit that makes you feel sad. He probably feeds off of negative emotion. What a toolbag. (Recs: Lucas King - Sociopath, Abel Korzeniowski- Table for Two, Max Richter - Never Goodbye, Max Richter - She Remembers, Evelyn Stein - Quiet Resource, Mac Quayle - Adagio in G Minor)
King: video game soundtracks, obviously. Might be some electro funk in there too, as a treat. (Recs: Metal Gear Solid 3 OST - Snake Eater, Mick Gordon - Rip and Tear, Xenoblade Chronicles OST - Main Theme, Persona 5 OST - Last Surprise, Daft Punk - Verdis Quo, Toby Fox - Hopes and Dreams, Disasterpeace - Prologue, iamthekidyouknowwhatimean - Run, Darren Korb - Old Friends)
Zombieman: Dad Music. Old rock that makes you wanna rail some lines of white thunder and dance on top of a car. He’d be reluctant to try out new stuff but does so nevertheless. Just a little bit of weird alternative here and there. (Recs: Poison - Unskinny Bop, Mötley Crüe - Dr. Feelgood, Black Sabbath - War Pigs, Def Leppard - Animal, CRX - Walls, MGMT - Little Dark Age, Pink Floyd - Money, Queens of the Stone Age - Villains of Circumstance)
Drive Knight: Dark synth, obviously. Need I say more? (Recs: El Tigr3 - She Swallowed Burning Coals, Trevor Something - Enjoy the Silence, Greg Drombrowski - Devour, GUNSHIP - Woken Furies, GUNSHIP - Thrasher, Carpenter Brut - Invasion A.D., Kavinsky - Nightcall)
Pig God: this guy probably just listens to ASMR of people eating food lol.
Superalloy Darkshine: Upbeat stuff that’s good for exercise; loving those new jams along with some of the old. He’s got a pretty groovy style. (Diane Ross - Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Saint Motel - Puzzle Pieces, CRUISR - All Over, Barry White - Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up, Sade - Kiss of Life)
Watchdog Man: 10 hour loop of wolves howling on a summer night.
Flashy Flash: classical. Some nice instrumentals to listen to while training. Stuff that preferably doesn’t have any or very little lyrics so it’s not too busy on his ears while he’s fantasizing about killing someone. (Recs: Vaughn Williams - The Lark Ascending, Debussy - Rêverie, Grieg - Peace of the Woods, André Laplante - Une Barque sur L’Ocean)
Metal Bat: Modern alternative. A little bit harder than say, Mumen and Kama, but not as hard as Zombieman or Death Gatling. He’s that middle ground where he’s still got some real bangers, but Zenko can listen as well. He’ll play this stuff loudly as he’s doing chores and working out, no headphones ever. It gets pretty annoying. (Recs: Foals - Exits, The Blue Stones - Black Holes, Solid Ground, CRX - Broken Bones, Jungle - Happy Man, The Strokes - Reptilia, We Are Trees - Girlfriend)
Genos: synth. But not just any synth, some heavy, fast-paced synth that’s just like him: speedy, relentless, and powerful. He listens to shit that’ll make you wanna get up and start killing Terminators. Probably. There’s some other synths in the mix too because we love a three-dimensional king. (Recs: Carpenter Brut - Division Ruine, The Protomen - I Still Believe, Carpenter Brut - Leather Teeth, Gunship - Tech Noir, TWRP - Phantom Racer, Le Castle Vania - Red Circle)
Tanktop Master: Dad music but the type of dad music that makes you think your dad was a sappy nerd back in the day. Long tracks that are good for workouts. (Tears for Fears - Woman in Chains, Pink Floyd - Us and Them, Duran Duran - Ordinary World, Billy Idol - Eyes without a Face, A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran, The Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky, Tears for Fears - Sowing the Seeds of Love)
Puri-Puri Prisoner: Pop. Dance music. He doesn’t really get to listen to a lot of music in prison, so he holds on to whatever he can and savors every second of it. (Coldplay - Talk, Bruno Mars - Runaway Baby, Lady Gaga - Bad Romance, Flo Milli - Beef Flomix, Doja Cat - Say So)
Mumen Rider: Hes a lighthearted, soft boy. Likes some fluffy indie tunes. It helps to motivate him when working out or doing hero stuff. He might need to cry every once in a while though, so there’s some sad songs in the mix too. (Recs: Varsity - The Dogs Only Listen to Him, The The - This is the Day, Amarante - Don’t Look Back, Alvvays - Saved by a Waif, The Monkees - As We Go Along, Acid Ghost - Hide my Face, Mogwai - Take Me Somewhere Nice)
Sonic: same as Flash. He’s a little more hip with the times however, so he’s got some more groovy, electronic instrumentals to listen to in addition to some elegant stuff and isn’t opposed to having a little bit of lyrics sprinkled in there as well. In fact, he’s not opposed to uppity pop either. He thinks dancing is frivolous but he secretly does it when he thinks nobody is looking. (Additional Recs: Odesza - Bloom, Pretty Lights - One Day They’ll Know [Odesza Remix], BØRNS - Electric Love, Hembree - Culture, The Cinematic Orchestra - Arrival of the Birds)
Garou: same as Metal Bat. Bang let him have a little MP3 player during his time at the dojo and has since collected a few songs on there. They’re very near and dear to his heart since it’s one of the few good things that came from his absolute disaster of a childhood. (Additional Recs: Foals - Inhaler, CRX - Slow Down, Deep Sea Arcade - Close to Me, Gorillaz - Empire Ants, The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger, Glass Animals - Take A Slice)
Death Gatling: Shit your old Vietnam-vet grandpa would blast on the back of his F150. He gives me self-righteous asshole vibes, if I’m honest. Like, don’t get me wrong, I like Death Gatling, but he seems like the type of trailer park-dwelling sewer rat to carry a revolver into a Walmart for “self defense” and that’s probably the type of music he listens to, too. (Recs: Megadeth - Trust, Megadeth - Angry Again, Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son, Glen Campbell - Southern Nights, Mötley Crüe - Kickstart My Heart, Quiet Riot - Cum on Feel the Noize)
One-Shotter: I hard hc that he had an emo phase he never quite grew out of. He doesn’t quite listen to emo anymore but he’s still into that alternative shit. Homeboy also likes some slow tunes every once and a while because he’s an emotional dude who’s not afraid of a good cry. (Recs: Anything from Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?, MGMT - When You Die, Mazzy Star - Fade Into You, Cigarettes After Sex - Dreaming of You, Yon Ort - Other Matter)
Lightning Max: Same as Genos but without the terminator-killing. Fast-paced stuff because he’s a fast lightning dude. A little more upbeat because he’s not as much as an edgelord as Genos, however. (Additional Recs: Carpenter Brut - Hang’em All, The Flaming Lips - Do You Realize, Worn Tin - Sensitivity, B.E.R. - The Night Begins to Shine, Martin Hall - Different Kind of Love)
Stinger: he’s all about that FUNK! Stuff that gets him moving! Stuff that makes him wanna dance! (Recs: Daft Punk - Doin’ it Right, TWRP - Body Image, Wild Cherry - Play that Funky Music, Chemise - She Can’t Love You, Saga - Wind Him Up, Saga - On the Loose, TWRP - All Night Forever)
Okamaitachi: they give me electro vibes! New, modern shit that’s good to dance to or to just sit down and have a listen! Also, some shit that’ll probably play in a coming-of-age teen movie or something. They don’t really vibe with heavy music and that’s alright, babey! Keeping it light and bouncy. (Recs: Tei Shi - Bassically, Varsity - Must Be Nice, Class Actress - Weekend, CHVRCHES - Richard Pryor, Alvvays - Marry Me, Archie, Sobs - Telltale Signs, Goth Babe - Sometimes, ALASKALASKA - Meateater)
Iaian: Nice, low tunes that are good for meditation and to be used for background noise during training sessions. He never really sits down to listen to music, it’s always in the background of something else he’s doing so he prefers to have some soft beats that don’t really interfere with his senses. Tunes so quiet, he sometimes uses them as lullabies; especially since the trauma of losing his arm has since made it hard to sleep. (Recs: Boy Scouts - Saddest Boy, Susanne Sundfør - Mantra, Vashiti Bunyan - If I Were the Same but Different, Starman Jr. - Blue Fairy, Patrick Watson - Je te Laisserai des Mots, Sibylle Baier - I Lost Something in the Hills)
Bushidrill: same as Atomic Samurai just without the shitty attitude. He’s happy to listen to some newer stuff, he just doesn’t like it and that’s okay, baby! Probably some classy shit your wise old grandpa would listen to. (Recs: Dean Martin - Volare, Dion - The Wanderer, Peppino Gagliardi - Che Vuole Questra Musica Stasera, anything from Luis Miguel lol, Franco Micalizzi - Sadness Theme)
Amai Mask: probably just listens to his own music like a putz. If not, he’s listening to the sound equivalent of glittering diamonds. He’s probably got this shit playing at the end of a long day while he’s chilling in a hot bath or something. (Recs: Fergie - Glamorous, Rita Ora - Hot Right Now, Lana Del Rey - Freak, Lana Del Rey - Art Deco, Tame Impala - Feels Like We Only Go Backwards)
Saitama: He doesn’t listen to music much anymore, sadly. He did, however, have a killer motivational mix to get him through his vigorous training prior to becoming a hero. (Recs: Paul Engemann - Push it to the Limit, Journey - Don’t Stop Believin’, College & Electric Youth - A Real Hero, Joe Esposito - You’re the Best Around, Survivor - Eye of the Tiger, The Bee Gees - Nights on Broadway)
Here’s the playlist with all of these songs in order (mostly):
It’s on YouTube because I’m allergic to Spotify. I’ve got a doctor’s note. Also, all of my other playlists are on my little profile thingy so if you want to listen to my pile then go right ahead.
Thanks for your ask, my dude! ❤️ this took up ALL of my energy lol but it was fun.
