hi!! big fan of your blog. you really changed my succession viewing experience and i can't wait to rewatch after reading the recs you've put up!

that being said, i read megan garber's piece in the atlantic about the animal imagery/darwinian implications in the show and really loved it (as a biologist with an interest in sociology lol). do you have any specific reading material relating to the topics in that piece? i'd just love to read more but not super sure what i'm even asking/looking for, so feel free to ignore!

hi! so, there's quite a large body of literature in history of biology that deals with the politics of evolutionary theory, including darwinism. you can read these in any order, though i would recommend starting with bob young's 'malthus and the evolutionists: the common context of biological and social theory' if you haven't already encountered it. this was a signal essay in historically grounding the argument that darwinian evolutionary theory read victorian industrial capitalism and malthusian population anxiety into the natural world, which was why it appealed to victorian men of science in a way that previous theories of evolution (sometimes referred to as species transformation or transmutationism, or transformisme / transformismo in france / italy) hadn't. bob was a marxist historian at a time when history of biology had been largely written by working scientists and naive positivists, and his methodological influence continues to be felt in the field today. anyway, these are only starting points and are centred on france and britain, and also i excluded p*ter b*wler because i hate his ass:

Part 3

Daniel stretched as he got out of bed, sliding his feet in his fluffy house slippers so he didn't feel the shock of cold from the ground.

He yawned and left the dark cocoon of their bedroom nest and squinted at how bright the living room was.

What time was it?

He'd been super tired lately, creating a baby tended to do that. Daniel tugged the bottom of his– Lewis' oversized shirt to cover the still barely there bump that denoted his second pregnancy. It was still early days, they'd only done their first ultrasound recently.

He smiled as Ava’s giggles filtered into his brain and he turned towards the expansive kitchen. His heart melted, reformed itself and then melted again at the sound and he felt his eyes stinging at the sight of Ava and Lewis giggling together and dancing around the kitchen.

Lewis was swinging her around in a pseudo waltz, babbling happily with bright eyes while she grinned and laughed and looked at him like he was her world. They smelled happy and soft and Daniel loved them with his whole heart. Slowly, he leaned against the countertop to watch them with soft eyes.

“You're awake!” Lewis turned happy yet surprised eyes to Daniel. “Did you sleep ok? We didn't wake you did we?”

He walked them around to kiss Daniel good morning. One kiss from the alpha and one from Ava who leaned over while making grabbing hands to her mother.

“Happy mothers day.” Lewis said softly as Ava settled in Daniel's arms. Daniel blushed, smiling sweetly.

Lewis reached for a box that Daniel had completely missed and offered it quietly. “Ava picked it out. I think she likes the colours.”

Daniel laughed before kissing Ava’s forehead. He loved it already and he didn't even know what it was.

“Thank you.” His voice was wobbly with emotion. He never thought he'd have this. Earlier this year he never thought he could have this.

He opened the box and cooed at the bracelet that sat within. It was gold, a metal Daniel favoured but hadn't worn recently and the interlaid diamonds glistened in the overhead lighting. It was beautiful.

He said as much, pulling Lewis in for a long kiss. Lewis smiled against his lips.

“If you are up for it, we could get brunch at that place you've been obsessed with recently. If not, I prepped a potential breakfast.” Lewis smirked when Daniel's scent spiked with what he liked to think of as his omega’s reaction to his competency in taking care of him. He'd been smelling it more and more recently, and Lewis wouldn't deny the confidence it gave him or how his inner alpha preened at the subtle praise.

“You're amazing.” Daniel murmured softly.

“You're amazing.” Lewis grinned, cupping Daniel's jaw.

“I think– brunch. I don't feel sick right now so it would be nice to go out.” Daniel eventually decided and Lewis nodded.

“Perfect. I shall get this little terror ready while you get ready. I chose an outfit for you in case you felt up to it.”

Daniel swooned, curious about the outfit and feeling so taken care of. Lewis was amazing, perfect. He was so in love with him

The Sandman: Bloodborne AU

Daniel's blood proved to be surprisingly potent, its quick regeneration of both Hob's wounds and his fatigue far outstripping that of the nun or the whore. Not only that but Hob swore his blows were stronger as they sliced through his enemies like butter.

"Take heed of the ragged child." She rasped, words hushed yet urgent. "He is unlike the other blood saints. Too pure; too untouched by the horrors of this world. A lamb may only graze so freely under the protection of a wolf."

Daniel, the unkempt child with the face as blindingly pale as the unbroken moon, was a curious character amongst the denizens.

It was the old woman, her face lined and as worn down as the shack she called home, who provided Hob with his first clue.

"Perhaps he holds too much power at his early stage." Dream mused, conjuring a small effigy of Daniel; his tattered white robes standing out against the abyss of his form with a shocking brilliance. "He could be reformed. With his power easily siphoned and transferred to a new host, he may become more controllable as the nightmare grows."

Something wicked lanced through the Corinthian's heart at the suggestion, tearing apart some unspoken part of him, and only the oppressive weight of his Lord pressing down on his lungs stopped him from bearing his razor-sharp teeth as a flood of despair-laden rage swept across his frame.

"A problem, my blade?"

As observant as ever, Dream's features adopted a decidedly predatory look.

The Corinthian smoothed out his expression with ease, snuffing out the emotion which plagued him as one would a candle - a cautious sense of trepidation replacing the hollow cavern within.

"The boy is well protected on his ventures. He is careful with the blood and still shows a humane compassion for those he may one day hold within his palm." He explained, his silver mask trembling within his clawed fingers. "It will serve him well as the people are drawn to him, like moths. They seek his warmth as they haven't felt anything like it in so long."

It wasn't intended as a slight, truly, but the temperature of the room dropped so rapidly that the Corinthian felt as though he had been dipped face-first in the icy waters of the Fishing Hamlet as the hairs on his neck screamed the danger he had inadvertently placed himself within.

"You think me cruel?" Dream accused, black tendrils slipping free of his cosmic robes to wrap themselves around the tan trouser leg of the Corinthian, rooting him in place in an instant.

"I would never, my Lord." The Corinthian replied, a nervous tremor openly touching at the words as he bowed his head. "Your will is beyond question and for the good of the dream. To hear of the child’s removal afflicts the very directive you wove deep within my purpose and my feelings are not my own."

Silence, as wicked and endless as the void which presented as the Dream Lord's gaze, fell across the room. It had been an age, long before the hunt had established itself into familiarity, since the Corinthian had faced true punishment. His last penance, a result of his direct questioning of his masters intentions with the remains of his living child Orpheus, had served as a stark warning against rebellion and the scars stood against his skin like slivers of moonlight.

His body may have recovered with time, but the memory lay etched deep within.

The Dream Lord was beyond question.

I've never done a fic rec list before but A Meal to Remember seemed like a good opportunity to start. In no particular order.

One of our reportes is missing by angstosaur. IWTV crossover with The Newsreader. Rated M. Louis/Lestat/Armand, Helen/Dale, Dale/Tim, Helen&Tim.

Louis sees Dale Jennings on the News and travels all the way to Australia to figure out what the hell Lestat is up to now. Obviously the logical way to go about this is break into the guys appartment and kidnap him.

This is just the best thing I've read in ages. The epic clash of firmly rooted in reality Newsreader and 'consequences aren't real if you're immortal' vampire world should not work as well as it does and it's a real joy to read. I particularly loved how beutifully the relationship between Tim and Helen was handled, as well as Louis getting to know Dale and seeing a lot of similarities between them I didn't expect to be there vs the chaos thrupple at peak insanity being generally horny and incompetent. It also has one of the greatest entrances of a character I've come across in a long time.

Renaissance by siahatha. Post canon. Rated M; Louis/Lestat

Louis and Lestat trying to make their relationship work in the modern day after Lestat spend a few decades in therapy. Louis still has some ways to go in that regard.

Deals a lot with Lestat's mania and Louis eating disorder. Also involves some genderfuckery.

Something about this one just really grabbed me. There are a lot of really cute moments that just show really well why Loustat are so great when they work and the heavy moments scatch that itch of 'why can't they just talk to each other' by putting them in a place where they can do that while still being true to their characters.

Practical Ethics by @prouvaireafterdark. Human AU. Rated E; Armand/Daniel, Louis/Lestat.

The famous Ethics Professor Louis fic. I tend to think of it as the Philosophy Student Armand fic but, eh, semantics.

So much fun to read and such a great set up. Strikes the perfect balance of keeping the characters who they are, especially with regards to Armand and his trauma, while toning the insanity to levels that wouldn't get them institutionalised in the real world.

And what I thought was gone by @nalyra-dreaming. Reunion fic. Rated E; Louis/Lestat.

Basically the part of TVL between Lestat putting out Rock videos and Louis coming to him from Louis perspective, set the amc universe. And then the reunion.

Nalyra has such a great way of getting into these character's heads. The journey from Louis thinking Lestat is still dead to realising he isn't to getting his hands on the videos and the book to finding him to them talking things out is so beautiful and emotional.

The Human Perspective by @bandedbulbussnarfblat. Part 1 of The Human Condition series. Rated T; Daniel/Armand.

Armand talks to Daniel about a mortal he once loved, whose memories he had to take so he could live a life.

Another one that hit me right in the feels. The longing! The dramatic irony! Having Daniel comment as an outsider on his own relationship is such a clever thing to do and very well executed.

Human AU. Rated E. Louis/Lestat.

Just Louis and Lestat being Louis and Lestat really. And Claudia. But make it human.

That is really the best compliment I can give: If those two were modern day humans this is what their relationship would be like: chaotic, toxic, destructive, co-dependent, full of issues, hang ups, addictions and love bordering on insanity. And brilliantly done, too. Pretty much all the trauma is acounted for and makes sense (in a human context), we get differnt POVs all perfectly in character and each giving interesting insights into their family and the different issues they run into over the course of their relationship.

I’ve read a lot of AUs where DAnny Fenton gets adopted by the Bats (actually what got me to watch Danny Phantom in the first place) but what if it was Dani who was taken in? This little ghost girl, who looks a lot younger than Danny, is flying around Gotham and has various encounters with the Bats, but keeps flying away or running away. They don’t realise at first that both her forms are one person. Jason looks out for the street kids in Gotham, and this one avoids all the gangs. She’s gone to Gotham to hide out from Vlad, because he’s afraid of going into Batman’s city.  She stays away from Batman herself as much as she can. She doesn’t want to be forced out of Gotham. Phantom (she uses that name still) is hardly seen, except at night committing very minor crimes (like for food, or mischief like breaking into an aquarium to see all the animals at night).  Dani is seen at homeless shelters and in the streets, always vanishing before anyone can approach her. Until she starts destabilising again.  It’s hard to get news from Amity in Gotham. A lot of things just don’t seem to get out. She tries to fly there, to get to Danny, but she’s destabilising and falls. One of the Batfam (I’m not sure who - Duke or Cass?) finds her and tries to help her.  “A kid, a meta I think, she’s almost dissolving and reforming-” They take her to the Justice League. They manage to use a form of stasis to keep her from destabilising completely, but are at a loss about how to save her.  Except for a theory that ectoplasm might be related to Lazarus water. She’s in stasis, but I would handwave it (like all comic books science) so she can talk but not move beyond that. She’s conscious but not able to use her powers. She and Damian have a combative relationship that becomes a grudging respect. I’m not sure how it would get to this point, but I have the idea of Damian stealing Lazarus water for her, believing it will help her. Bruce, during all this, would be looking for clues to her identity. Not to return her to a family she ran away from, but to find out if they know how to help her. He doesn’t find anything except a missing persons report for a Daniel Fenton, and some pleas broadcast on television funded by Vlad Masters (the most suspicious millionaire after Lex Luthor).  Dani is clearly not Danny, because she’s younger etc. But Bruce also finds records of a Danny Phantom. If he hadn’t seen Dani’s two forms, he wouldn’t have realised that Danny Phantom and Danny Fenton were the same. He has this time. And the two ghost hunters who were Danny Fenton’s parents must know something. Danny was identified as having ectoplasm in his body by the Guys in white, and he was carted off to be “cured” by them. Maddie did not approve. Jack did, because he’s a huge fan of them. During their attempted to “cure” him, they nearly kill him and cause him t come close to destabilising. He loses control of his powers and they discover he’s Danny Phantom. He lets loose with a ghostly wail and causes an ice storm through amity park. He, and other ghostly or “ecto-contaminated” prisoners make a break for the Ghost portal with help from Jazz, Sam and Tucker.  Once inside, Danny tells Jazz, Sam and Tucker they should leave, because he’s got to make sure the GIW can’t get in, and that no more ghosts can haunt Amity Park. They refuse. They’re pretty sure they’d be next on the list to be “cured”, anyway. Jazz had moved out at this point, having become 18. Danny uses all his remaining strength to help the others through the portal before turning back to destroy it. He nearly kills himself doing it, and falls into a deep unconsciousness. He spends nearly a year being cared for by Frostbite before he recovers enough to leave.

Danielle is not going to tell these superheroes or millionaires about ghosts or the ghost portal. She’s certain that if they know for sure she’s part ghost, she’ll be in big trouble because of the anti-ecto laws. She lets it slip to one of the other kids that it’s illegal for her to exist (Damian? Jon? I could set it in a different time and have it be a Titan?).  Bruce arranges a Bat-Burglary of Fentonworks. Jason sets off a Ghost Alarm. No one knows why. They can’t find anything that they think would work, but do find a weirdly encrypted set of files on the computer that had belonged to the missing Danny Fenton. They take them. The Fentons are woken by the alarm, but are restrained by whichever disguised Batfam member is there. Valerie also hears the alarm. Hoping it’s Danny (she knows his identity by this point), but fearing that someone’s managed to reopen the ghost portal, she heads towards there. After a complicated confrontation, she’s taken to see Dani. She explains how they helped her before. They treat her with the ecto-dejector, but they know now that it might only be a temporary fix. Dani is furious that Valerie has revealed she’s part ghost. Valerie’s like “They were searching Fentonworks, they already knew.” Valerie and Dani end up being pals. Dani and Valerie both end up joining whichever young superhero team is in place - the Teen Titans or Young Justice - and Bruce Wayne, Oliver Queen (if he’s still rich?) and Mento (can’t remember his real name) fund the repealing of the Anti-ecto laws. Tucker has figured out a way to, with help from the infinimap and clockwork, get signals from outside the ghost zone. Sam, Jazz and Tucker are all developing powers at this point due to the ongoing exposure to the Ghost zone, so know it’s not safe to leave. Possibly one of them actually died and became a ghost, and has really strong powers?

Danny finds out when he sees his “little cousin” on the news. The Fentons raise a fuss, saying that she’s a ghost, and the Justice League close ranks around her. Dani yells at them on live TV that they got Danny killed by the Guys in white, revealing his identity (she genuinely thinks he’s dead).  Danny is prepared to fly out and protect her with everything he’s got, but the Justice League are protecting her. WHen asked why they are breaking the Anti-ecto laws, they make a statement that those laws are unjust and that Danielle Phantom is a child, not a monster. The Fentons do not come across well. Danny doesn’t leave, doesn’t dare leave, until the Anti-Ecto laws are repealed. Even then, he’s scared it’s a trick.  He leaves, and tries to find a safe way to approach Dani. The Boo-merang finds him first. Not because it was set off on purpose, but because it’s still keyed to his ecto signature. While he was in the ghost zone, with no stable portals, it functioned like a normal boomerang. The Batkids (possibly Duke?) are messing around with it when it flies off in a bizarre direction. THey follow. They see Danny Phantom, a little dazed and rubbing his head but gearing up to fight. Dani runs past the others to hug him. Dani Wayne is the adopted child of Bruce Wayne, with a whole host of siblings. That doesn’t mean she isn’t delighted to have her “cousin” back.  Danny can’t do the secret identity thing anymore, after everything was revealed, and ends up splitting his time between one of the super teams and the Ghost Zone. Close on Frostbite whispering “Did anyone ever tell him that he’s the Ghost King?” I’ll probably never end up writing this, because I never have the spoons or time to write anymore, but writing out the idea was really fun. If anyone wants to “adopt” the idea let me know :D

5. do you respond to comments?

i try to reply to every comment around the first week of posting something (because by then it’s an “old work” and it’s “weird” to comment on it, but that’s another post 😐). i still haven’t replied to the last of the ceaseless eve comments & i feel terrible, the sentimentality of it all overwhelms me but know i appreciate it 😭 i wish there was like a code word though that people could comment that lets you know if they want you to respond or not, because it’s hard to know if people want an author response or if it’ll scare them off yk

6. Which of your fics has the angstiest ending?

i don’t do a lot of angst, but when i do, i do (meaning i lay it on too melodramatically thick lmao) but i thought i’d give a list of some of my angstiest/darkest fics 🤠

the moonlace & the sunflower 🌻 (in which grover dies protecting a demigod, so the empathy link causes percy to pass away as well)

games long lost 🌳 (in which luke must drink annabeth’s blood for kronos’s reformation, it covers the dark lukabeth of it all & there’s some death)

the smallest casualty ♟️ (in which it’s slowly revealed over the course of a luke & annabeth chess game that the gods lost the war, and percy & friends have been subjected to dark magic experiments to make them compliant to luke’s fantasy)

rewired 🤖 (okay. i usually try to be humble or self deprecating or whatever but this 1400 word fic is an actual fucking masterpiece to me idc. it just came out of me and makes me physically nauseous to this day. showing this to my hypothetical therapist etc etc. oh wait what’s it about lmao—the concept of daniel rewiring his brain & morals to fit into silver’s desires. ft that sick sick silverusso dynamic)

7. Which of your fics has the happiest ending?

i have a variety of fluffy fics, but i’d have to say my happiest most sugar coated ending is—

who said anybody would? (a ej/gina/ricky road trip fic that literally ends with an ot3 picnic scene 😭 it’s just too much 🫶)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

i’ve gotten unwarranted criticism (i like to ask for constructive crit comments at the end if it’s like a longfic) that’s been surprisingly rude…i won’t say which fic but someone got so mad at one of my chapters they left a lengthy mocking crit comment and then stopped reading 😭 but that’s their prerogative, i hope they found something they enjoyed afterwards. other than that, surprisingly considering some of the controversial dark fics i’ve written…no sign of flames, so thanks! 😅

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i have four different smut fics (hopefully a fifth if i can ever finish it up)…i fear they’re repetitive but also not really, they cover different fandoms and explore different kinks. i’m not really sure what to say about them, hopefully people find them hot ! or whatever !

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

i’m not a fan of crossovers currently, but my longest fic i wrote when i was 15 (it’s 97k i’m beating it someday 😭) was a crossover between sanders sides, voltron, miraculous ladybug, and gravity falls (doesn’t that feel like a kick in the gut lmao—did i mention i was 15? 😅)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

i tried, myself and another author had a shared Google doc & everything…but we both just didn’t commit. i don’t think i’d work well with another writer…i don’t mind bouncing ideas around with a beta reader/editor (like @heavens-vault 🤠) but ultimately i’d prefer to write on my own

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

it changes—it’s currently valdangelo, but the ones I’ve written the most over the years are: prinxiety (😐), lawrusso, caswen, and valdangelo. i’m excited to explore a bunch of other ships as i continue writing as well

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

oh gosh, i mean i hope i don’t have any like longfics in question…i hope i can finish + deliver on Ivory Rain, but i’m sure I’ll manage even if it takes a while. i haven’t really mentioned this a whole lot to “the public” but i have what i call a “scrap fic” i’m working on, with a bunch of like 800 word chapters i just kinda bounce around when i have time. the concept is really exciting but the execution still needs work, so i’m kinda seeing how that’s gonna play out, it might not be posted. i hope it will though !

16. What are your writing strengths?

i think i’m pretty good at characterization, good romantic moments with good buildup, and humor :-)

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

action scenes i hate you so much 😭 why do i insist on writing pjo fics when i can hardly write a fight scene

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i should do it more, i hate that i don’t, especially considering nico being Italian and leo’s native language being Spanish. but I’ve used & been disappointed by Google translate too many times…perhaps I’ll find another way to translate to include that for more character accuracy

19. First fandom you wrote for?

actually i think percy jackson, i’ve come full circle. the first fic i posted was sanders sides, but i remember when i was probably nine or so i wrote with pencil and paper and stapled a book together with a hand drawn cover 😭 it was about a son of Apollo, a satyr, and a daughter of Demeter on a quest…so really, richard took some creative liberties from my hand written fanfic i think 👀

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

like the ships, it changes—I love all my fics, it’s hard to explain how there’s little fractures of me at different points in my life at any given time in my works. no amount of over-explaining could make anyone understand how i express myself through my character’s emotions and desires and fears and journeys.

at the moment, my favorite fic is CE. it just got completed, myself and others are excited for the sequel. i think all my pjo works in particular are pretty good, and of course i tend to shy away from my older works because my writing…probably wasn’t as good. but that just means I’ve improved, so that’s good.

i'll preface this by saying i don't normally care for 'modern day/everyone is a regular human' type aus, but reformation is sooo charming it won me over big time. it's very funny and quotable, and the way they adapt the family dynamic with claudia is wonderful. it's a version that makes sense for a mostly happy regular human au, but it is also deeply fucked in its own way so it still feels recognizable. chapter six in particular was a favorite, i loved the exploration of claudia's psyche. it's also a non-linear narrative, which is a favorite device of mine.

this fic is a short in-between-the-scenes conversation between daniel and louis, but it has so much packed into it!! i personally think the show made the relationship between louis and claudia a lot richer by dispensing with the literal incest of the book and instead having a sort of emotional incest that makes their dynamic even harder to define - claudia isn't a straightforward romantic rival, but she's quite literally in louis's head when he's having sex with lestat trying to seduce him to run away. and the contradictory family metaphors just highlight that even more. i think if the show ever did decide to more explicitly acknowledge that dynamic the dialogue would go a lot like how it's presented here - “Blood of his blood. Lover. Maker. The whole thing. Lots of people marry their parents.”

I do have more plans for it, and for doing something fun with S4 of CAOS, but I'm a bit wrapped up in other projects right now, and I don't know when I'll get back to it.

All I can promise is - Sabrina is going to live, and...I kind of want to send her to law school? She's got her eye on the Queenship of Hell, but to make the plans she has for the place work, she's going to need to be able to advocate for her subjects and for the place of Hell. Also, I just...like the idea of her as a defence attorney, given her insistence, in canon, on the importance of redemption and offering it, even planning to reform Hell to work with heaven and reform sinners. Also, considering her whole thing with Daniel Webster, and the favour he did her.

Also, it'd be a fun parallel to Lucifer, who identifies himself very much as a punisher, which...really isn't what Hell needs anymore, if it ever did.

But all that is...post-s4. S4 proper would...probably involve me making a bit more use of the various Eldritch Terrors, because I feel like fic has more scope to use them to their full potential than a television budget would stretch to.

Max/Daniel drag AU and texas road-trip!

OKAY I said I was done but you compelled me... drag AU has Daniel as an experienced performer at a drag bar. Max, who is very obviously new to drag, shows up one night and has an unexpected appeal:

Daniel looked worse his first go around. And Max actually looks convincing, like some fleshy facsimile of a girl stumbling out of a club early in the morning, tits spilling out of her top, makeup melting. 

Texas road-trip is also max/daniel, and it's exactly what it sounds like:

“Ehh,” Daniel says, unlocking his phone one-handed. “Drive north ‘till you see cowboys. You can navigate when we get off the interstate.” 

“I think if we are looking for cowboys, then we must already be there.” 

Daniel laughs, throwing his head back. Max gets to watch the way his profile shifts and reforms. He can feel a little smile tugging on his own cheek, too.

So i have put my rubysona x batim crossover into the tf2 universe bc hyperfixations & blorbos combine!!! From left to right top to bottom, red(rubysona’s) regens are: First form on homeworld, poofed and reformed in batim, poofed and reformed again in batim, casual outfit post-batim, soldier outfit post-batim, soldier outfit halfway thru tf2, and combo soldier & casual outfit in batdr. More abt this au/crossover sona thing under the cut!!

Henry is 6′1″, Allison is 5′10″, and the Borises (Tom/Thomas and Buddy/Daniel) are 5′9″. Red (rubysona’s name) is 3′, 3′6″ with her hair included. Red joined Mann Co. in order to have various crimes (committed in the name of her family from batim and in the name of her justice) covered up, and to give her family armed protection from those who would seek to hurt them bc of their inhuman forms. (Sometimes she would steal stuff for the Borises & Allison when the town they lived in was getting suspicious or mean about them, or kill people who tried to kill them.) So Red joins the team as a soldier, but goes by “Ruby” to distinguish her from Solly, and goes thru the whole comics lore with the team, slightly changing some events but the outcome being the same. Post-canon, Miss Pauling helps Helen settle her old scores before she dies, and then Allison and Tom help her take a vacation that’s more than a day. (Maybe the Pendle-Connors have been provided spy-type gear to disguise them as humans?) Henry and Daniel are able to focus fully on rebuilding their lives after the studio since the threat of the Classic mercs is gone. And Henry finds out something about Joey Drew dying, maybe goes to the funeral maybe not, and then he and Red discover ArchGate studios and its suspicious activity. Red invites the team, who’s getting a little antsy with the lack of major action, to crush new & interesting (”but kinda easy”, she admits) enemies and maybe rescue some people in the ink world/studio. Medic gets to study new types of bodies, Demo and Engie get to research pocket dimensions and make a portal, and the others get to SMASH. They enter before Allison does, but set up their portal in an abanonded or different part of the building (this is so i don’t have to rewrite Allison going into the ink world & bc i Need her to interact with the mercs) so they don’t encounter Wilson except to leer at him from shadows. Engie(to keep an eye on the portal machine & be the braincell), Pyro(to guard it & his teammates with her vigilance & their flamethrower), Scout(bc Spy psyched him out of going down there bc he’s still shaken from him almost dying), Spy(to be the other braincell & guard), and Soldier(bc if he goes with Demo their chemistry/pos will blow up the studio, & also i didn’t want to unbalance the even divide of the numbers) stay behind. Demo(bc he deserves a fun adventure & to kill or look at new nasty magical(??) creatures), Sniper(bc he seems to enjoy magic judging by his scream fortress lines, and he’s kind of a braincell), Medic(to heal them just in case and to study all these new bodies), Heavy(to be the other braincell & attack/defend against evil creatures), & Red/Ruby(to also be the braincell and be attack & guide/tell them what she learned abt the studio/ink world from her time in it & her discussions with the inky members of her family who used to live there) go in.

Ho ho ho! CK secret santa here. 🎅 Tis the season for wishes and magic. While I do have the start of a wishlist I'd like to check it twice and ask some follow-up questions. What are some tropes or things you don't see often that when you go hunting for in a story you don't always find or find rarely or haven't found or even just always love? Depending on the capabilities of ...well me, I'd like to make sure I attempt to hit a few of those at least to sprinkle in. No matter what it is, (spicy or not) I'll try my best to fit some in beyond the main things which are semi-rare you already mentioned in your wishlist. (Those I got on my list and they're underlined.) There's quite an ensemble of cast to assign parts to beyond our headliners, would you like them all? Or does it depend on the tale as it unfolds? (Chozen, cobras (all?), Miguel, Robby.) I ask because cannon has put some of them beyond the grave by the time our other friends hit the center stage or are er...indisposed (sad harmonica jail blues) but I can fetch them because the fun thing with this is that canon and time don't have to be abided by thanks to ~Santa magic~ Speaking of cannon, or really set design. Would you like a seasonal piece or would you rather to avoid winter holidays? An AU or something set more closer to cannon? (Does the setting matter? Not everyone celebrates or likes the winter holidays and they can be avoided) *pushes a snow machine off the stage* I'd rather not give you something you don't want on accident. Another fun one is people standing up for CK Johnny. I see a lot of Mr. Miyagi trains TKK Johnny, or any sort of reforming TKK Johnny where it's easier for people to see why he's a trashfire. It's harder to feel sympathetic for CK Johnny because hey man you've had 35 years to be better, which is why I think it's easier for people to miss when he tries as an adult. It doesn't help that he's very bad at asking for help. basically let ck johnny realize he has friends who aren't one (1) Miguel

Ensemble cast HmmMMMmm, well clearly big fan of Robby or Miguel or Sam. Also in love with John Kreese and his weird fucked up dad vibes. And hilariously in love with any Terry Silver interaction with Johnny bc of their shared rich kid fucked up by kreese history. he really did that two whole times huh

I do not care about any sort of winter holiday setting, if that helps! Anything that serves the story is all I care about, so you do you in the style of you!

💭 What is a headcanon you have about your own work?

My headcanons are often fairly bland so have three to satisfy your hunger:

One that has made it into Deathly Weapons: Danny preferentially writes in cursive (Chapter 14).

One that has not yet appeared but is planned to: The ghosts of Pandora's Necropolis have a distant connection to Themyscera.

One that appeared in an early draft but alas was not to be: In certain corners of the internet, a hacker going under the handle fryertuck is quite renowned. No-one knows they're a teenager.

🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?

I've talked about a few here (and am happy to talk more about them) but as we are in the mood to indulge, let's go a few more:

Another DPxYJ Brother AU where the Fenton's find out Danny's secret but instead interpret it as Phantom having murdered their son and taken his place. When Dick comes looking, their information sets Robin on the hunt for the "ghost imposter who killed his brother" armed with the very worst of their anti-ectoplasmic rhetoric.

Yet another DPxYJ siblings thing, this time running on the concept of "what if Danielle was about Dick's biological age and the whole team met her before anybody knew Dick had an older brother". No real plot for this one, just intrigue vibes and confusion over a ghost-fighting parkour-proficient stranger who looks weirdly like a female clone of Robin.

Surprise curveball with a My Hero Academia concept from back when I was deeper in that fandom. I liked the idea of a quirkless Izuku picking up on how busted their hero system is and deciding to take the support path to try and reform things from within, bumping into his canon Class 1A counterparts along the way. Also featuring a fight scene concept where Deku manages to one-up Bakugo in a spar using his analytical skills to identify that (based on the implicit quirks-are-biology rules of early canon) Bakugo's elbows and shoulders should be vulnerable points due to the repeated jarring from using his quirk. In which Deku is allowed to get a little mad at the injustice of the system, as a treat.
