Regulus sneezes, eyebrows pinched and cheeks pink with the powder you had just dusted on him. His nose scrunches and a huff of laughter escapes from your throat.

“You think my pain is funny.” His lips twitch with a barely concealed smile. Your thumb smooths over the curve of his cheek.

“I think your pain is endearing. There’s a difference.” You insist. 

His cheeks split in a grin and you squeeze them, a gentle reminder of what you’re supposed to be doing. His face returns to a neutral state for just a second.

“Yeah? And what is that?”

“Regulus,” you chastise him. “You gotta stay still.”

“I will if you answer my question,” He promised. His voice was coated in honey, sticky sweet with endearment and fondness for you. 

You open your mouth, mulling over what your answer could be. “I just thought the face you made was cute s’all.” You assure him, tucking a curl that fell in front of his eyes behind his ear.

“Oh,” He nods. “I get that.”

You tilt your head, “You think I’m cute?”

“I do not.” His smile suggests otherwise.

“You think I’m cute.” You hum, closing your eyes and smiling. He huffs, an affectionate sound, and sits back in his chair. “I’ll get back to it then?”

His cheeks pinch with a grin.

OUTSIDER (7) || Rabastan Lestrange WTM

Series Synopsis: When the truth comes out about the future inside the walls of Hogwarts, on the first night back in 1977, what will happen for those involved with the chaos that ensued?

Secrets outed, Lies revealed and true intentions determined.

Pairing: Rabastan Lestrange x Fem!Regulus Black

Notes: Short chapter :)

Everybody had once again settled down in their seats, Regulus was back between her boyfriend and son, her best friends sat at her feet. Some people had brought snacks and drinks back to where they were sitting to enjoy while watching the movies.

The screen once again filled the hall with light.

6th January 1980.

A group of three men were shown, black eyebags beneath their eye sockets. The men were older versions of Rabastan, Evan and Barty, they were stood, heads bowed slightly, at the back of a group of people.

The same people from when Regulus was given her mission.

Regulus burrowed into her boyfriends side, hands carding through the hair of the two boys sat at her feet.

"We have been betrayed by one closest to us." The voice of the Dark Lord Voldemort started, he somehow looked even less human than one week before. The skin on his face hugged his cheek bones, lips now flushed with a periwinkle tone, eyes a grotesque red colour that reflected the blood he had spilled.

"Regulus Black not only failed her mission to assassinate the Potter and Longbottom families, no, she also informed them of said mission and as result the two blood traitorous families have gone into hiding." He informed the group, earning some silent sounds of outrage in response.

The three men looked down, the people around them thinking it was an act of shame for their association with the youngest Black, only Rab, Evan and Barty would know it was a show of pain, after three days of their beloved friend and partner in crime had been missing they knew she would not be returning.

The, hardly-human, male continued. "I have seen to her punishment myself, as of the thirty-first of December Regulus Black is dead." He said maliciously.

"Lier!"

"No you didn't!"

Were some of the reactions from the halls mass, the followers of said Dark Lord were in outrage that the man they followed, looked up to even, had blatantly lied to their faces.

The scene changed once again.

A beautiful manor was shown, white brick walls graying with age had vines of ivy covering them, pointy turrets made up of black slates sat proudly upon the mansion looking out on the surrounding gardens, which housed a dozen regal, roaming, platinum peacocks. The breathtaking house had fences of bushes, shaped to perfection, lining the wide walkway which led to a tall, polished gate.

Those from the Malloy family sat up straighter than before, proud of all the awed faces of those around them.

"You really do have a wonderful home Abraxas" Commented Delilah Selwyn to her old classmate.

"Thank you Delilah but I must give the praise to my wife, Lysistrata is the one who takes the most care of the grounds." Lord Malfoy replied, Lys smiling before pecking her husband on the cheek.

The scene followed a beautiful owl to one of the many black framed windows, it perched on the window ledge before tapping its beak lightly on the glass. A house elf unlocked it before taking the mail from the owls clawed foot, feeding it an owl treat.

"Pip is thanking you, Axl." Pip, the elf, said before the bird shook its feathers and took off once more, Pippa left with a pop landing in the sitting room in front of a three month pregnant Narcissa Malfoy.

Squeeling, Clarity Selwyn (soon to be Greengrass) turned to her best friend, squeezing her tightly, gushing over how beautiful she looked and how she 'must be the godmother of your son!'

Narcissa nodded hugging her back, happy to see her best friend so exited for her.

"Mistress Narcissa, Pip has the Daily Prophet  for you as well as some letters." The young elf handed them to the woman who was sat on one of the green leather couches, cup and saucer placed on the wooden end table.

"Thank you, Pip." She replied, the elf leaving the room with a quiet pop, the woman looked down at the days headline, brows furrowing and alarm swirling in her grey eyes.

The scene moved to show the newspaper.

they’d hoped for a boy with their second born but another daughter was no great loss, and when little narcissa came along? well three was enough, daughters or not, they were of the house of black. they were the best. and to cygnus and druella they were perfect.

a family, a team, a unit; with one cause. be the best. and so came the lessons.

her father tried to teach her, duelling and dark magic and all kinds. but while andromeda took well to the magic she’d been taught she shirked the rest of the lessons. if she had her way, and she would, she’d have others to do this work for her. she’d have armies at her disposal. but its always good to know how to put someone in the ground. besides, bellatrix excelled there, and they didn’t need two.

balancing a book on her head took work, took hours of practice and while after it she was perfect, what use was that when narcissa found the third time the charm. but again she was a quick study, absorbing the lessons even if she wouldn’t apply them.

and so andromeda took to the middle ground and there she flourished. if she’s perfect in one thing it’s being an amalgamation of her sisters; the two people she’d do anything for. the scheemer and the front, she sees herself as the brains of their little outfit. the one who can see the whole spiderweb.

its for the same reasons she hasn’t quite taken that last step in the war that her sister has, there’s nothing to be gained by swearing herself to a man who seeks to empower himself while empowering her kind. to indebt herself to him stops her from twisting the cause, makes it harder for her to elevate herself and her family. but it doesn’t do to be outside the loop. she knows marriage is in her families plans for her and andromeda isn’t for anything she can’t control. on the hunt for someone she can control she has a plan, a plan to get herself a puppet.

a more approachable version of narcissa, a less volatile bellatrix; andromeda is the perfect middle ground of the other two girls — perhaps that’s why she got made head girl, is seen as a shining example of an ideal student... despite the gaggle of friends and unseemly things that through them can be pinned on her.

3 partly interconnected dreams, very confusing.

Dream 1

Vessel (hencefore nicknamed Rinko as usual Taylor) had shapeshifting, n did a lot of running from mean people. Met pre-transformed Poison Ivy n decide to follow her around as a kitty, later was nesting in her hair happily.

Post transform, Ivy decides to instead move between Gotham n the nearby wilds, searching for ??? (something something flowers) n boosting the local fauna. Due to lots of time spend in non-human (n later non-animal) forms, Taylor manage to obtain a hybrid plant form that allows her to hear whispers of the Green.

Lots of adventuring n tripping into other poor mooks that ends up joining our adventure (I think we got a pseudo Wolverine? n a Yoshiko expy). Also found out how to magic creatures, wheeeee~

Ivy began to establish green fountains of life (supernatural oasis of plant life), leading to baby nature spirits (n pixies???) starting to show up. The local magicians... weren't too happy, but big nasty wyvern are useful bodyguard. The bbies are so cute, why. They're literally bouncing giggling balls of light.

Dream 2

Taylor keeps getting drugged to sleep, first by a cranky uncle n by a succession of unfamiliar people who never actually do anything? Later, there was one nice aunty that also tries to drug Taylor to sleep, but Taylor manage to touch her beehive that had some wasps flying nearby, which enlarged them into palm size (a wasp with a wicked stinger) n waist height (random assortment of bees n hornets). After wrecking a nearby window to escape, Taylor fell into drugged sleep.

There was a flashback where Taylor was a student in Hogwarts n was friendly with a black hair silver eyed Slytherin (Regulus?), where she laughingly shapeshifted between various birds.

After waking up, Taylor ends up chatting with a Robin (Damian???) that is hilariously tsun to his brothers. In the background the resized insects were building a library??? in an abandoned neighbourhood, with wary people (mostly kids) curiously approaching n maybe cooking in a corner with less insects.

Dream 3

Taylor (highly likely to be a DC x Worm Taylor according to this dream) wakes up her power while doing a science project related to ants. She decides to start creating little helper robots (think multifunctional Rombas with a dog like personality n 4 insect legs) based of what she finds out from ants n sells the versions with no AI, only programs to the public though an alias.

Later, she found out someone’s been doing human experimentation on artificial human limbs with unwilling subjects (their limbs get cut off) n also copycating her technology into fleshy versions. While destroying some of the fakes after collecting evidence (during which she finds out her rage gave her telekinesis n destruction?/vanishing? abilities), she sees stop active cameras n hurried to destroy disconnect before destroying them as well (since she’s still trying to keep her civilian identity under wraps).

This rich young lady with bright red (?) hair stomps into the area just as Taylor flees, n due to the rage at her projects n little eye spies being destroyed, triggered with a spider power, able to manifest a giant black widow-ish spider made of magic. After chasing Taylor into the city, spider lady starts spitting out web that absorbs people’s ages, turning them into children. After Taylor got turned into a kid, someone snatch her, which rolls into dream 2.

The shapeshifting comes later, due to exposure to various lifestreams. Spider lady ends up escaping multiple times, either through bail or just rotting away all barriers with her accumulated time she stolen. By then nobody could find the ant scientist, since she has gone to ground.

“Your mind,” he murmurs, tapping his index against your temple. You lean into the warmth of his hand, and for a moment, all you can hear is the way your heart rate picks up as you wait for him to continue.

You’ll have to coax the full statement from him, is what you realize after a few more beats of silence. Regulus had a tendency to complete thoughts inside his head and forget to vocalize them, making it slightly confusing to understand his thought process. Typically, he didn’t realize when things like this happen, at least until somebody points it out to him.

“What about my mind?” You seem to pull him from thoughts, and for a second, you’re almost sorry for penetrating the silence.

His brows pucker, “what d’you mean?”

“You said something ‘bout my mind, didn’t finish the sentence.” The confusion on his face eases into something akin to embarrassment. 

“You heard that, hm?”

“Was I not supposed to?” you tilted your head.

“Would’ve been my choice.” He doesn’t mean anything by that, and you know it, but you couldn’t help the way your face fell.

“Oh,” you whispered. It then occurred to him that he might’ve hurt you, that you’d just wanted to know why he’d mentioned you, and he’d blown you off without so much as a second thought.

“You really want to know?” he’s more curious than anything, curious whether you’re actually interested in what he has to say. 

You nodded.

“I meant to say,” he paused, “that your mind is a wonderful place.”

“Yeah?”

He hums, “I would live there if I had the option.”
