haven’t posted on here in a MINUTE but I have a new fic out now! It’s called Shadows of Worth and it’s on ao3 - a last of us AU jegulus fic. Here’s a quick little teaser:

He uses a pair of scissors to pry open a locked door. The scissors break, but it’s worth the loss, because there are a bunch more supplies in the locked room, enough to make a proper shiv, and a small health kit.

“Wow,” James says from where he’s standing in the doorway. “How’d you do that?”

“Experience,” Regulus replies, blandly.

“So, you just figured all that stuff out?” James asks. “No one taught you?”

Regulus hesitates. Then, “I’m self-taught.”

“Must be nice,” James murmurs. When Regulus gives him a confused look, he hastily adds, “To be able to do those things. To be able to take care of yourself. I mean, I’m so useless with this stuff that I need to be babysat.”

“Why don’t you teach yourself?”

“I wouldn’t even know where to start,” James sighs.

Feeling a little bad for the man, Regulus grabs another pair of scissors from a desk draw, as well as some tape, and holds them out to James. “Start here. Break the scissors in half and wrap some tape around the bottom. The tape gives you a good place to grip. There’s no point in making one if the blade isn’t sharp though, so much sure you check it before you bother wasting tape.”

James blinks, looking down at his hands where the supplies are. Then, with his tongue sticking out in concentration, he pulls off some tape and wraps it around the bottom of the scissors. “Like this?”

“That’s right.” Regulus nods to the creation. “You’ve just made yourself a shiv.”

The smile that spreads across James’ face makes Regulus get a funny feeling in his chest. “Will you show me how to use it to break locks?”

Regulus snorts. “One thing at a time.”

You mentioned before the parallels between succession and BSDU (which I def was thinking about when watching succession lol...BSDU living rent free in my head) and you mentioned Kendall and Sirius having similar vibes (tbh I feel like you could just slot Sirius into the Kendall birthday party scene seamlessly) but what about Roman, Shiv, and Regulus? Interested to hear your thoughts on this

Succession and BSDU definitely have the out of touch dysfunctional rich people, the biggest difference is that I have a more positive view of humanity/peoples' capacity to grow than Jesse Armstrong so BSDU won't have an extremely depressing ending.

I would say the obvious parallel is Logan and Arcturus are very similar types of characters—verbally abusive patriarchs who have made their kids not healthy (I guess in this respect Orion is really more of the Kendall....just without the drugs.) I can see some shades of S1 Shiv and Logan in Lucretia and Arcturus's dynamic.

I think Roman and Kendall do have some Sirius and Regulus vibes, except they are both weirdly a combination of both characters in personality?

Caroline kind of feels like what Lucretia would have been like if she'd had kids, tbh.

Thing that just occurred to me...Lucius is the Tom Wambsgans of the family, lol. He's a clumsy interloper who nobody trusts.

if we’re going sister i think you could do andromeda as kendall, bella as roman, and narcissa as Shiv. andromeda never gets the attention like she should and yes i think she can be a bad person and i think she deserves to have complexity when it’s often ripped from her. bella is roman roy like idk what to say. Narcissa being Shiv just makes so much sense because she will never be more than what her husband can offer her family and ain’t that heartbreaking.

if you wanted to make it brothers centric i think sirius black is kendall in a very real way but he also can be connor and that’s something idk yet. and regulus black is 100% a mix of shiv and roman. Regulus is too put together to be roman, and too obsessed with his parents approval to be shiv.

i say you mix them all together and say fuck it and you figure it out no?

yes i’ve thought about this a lot. (yes i may write this someday)
