found family except Character A is an immortal being who's been wandering the earth for centuries, losing their loved ones over and over and over again until they snap and tell themselves they'll never befriend a mortal ever again, and more centuries go by with them just refusing any social contact with anyone until Character B, another immortal, finds them and slowly, very slowly, drags them out of their cage and introduces them to a mortal group whom Character A is terrified by at first because, well, they're going to die one day too. but team slowly worms their way into Character A's heart and A lets them in and lets themself have this one more time, and soon the fear turns into resignation because they live in the moment instead of ahead of it. and when team does slowly die off and it's just Character A and B, at least A has B now. And a bunch of memories to go with it.

And centuries go by, and one day, Character A meets Character C, who looks and acts exactly like someone from the family A formed centuries ago. And C, with no recognition in their eyes, brings A, who is usually reluctant to socialise but agreed just because it was C, to meet people who are just like A's past family. And C and the rest of the reincarnated team, have absolutely no idea.

Every day, when Steve gets home from work, he always asks his and Eddie's daughters what they did while he was gone.

One day, they surprise him with an answer he hasn't heard yet.

They tell him, “Daddy taught us how to pick locks.”

The girls are immensely proud of themselves and want to demonstrate their newfound skill, so they put on a whole show of locking themselves in the bathroom and breaking each other out while Steve watches on.

Much to his chagrin, all three of them can successfully unlock the privacy lock on the bathroom door from the outside – including three-year-old Hazel.

“That’s…that’s great,” Steve says when they’re done. “Uh, where’s your dad?”

They tell him that he’s upstairs and, indeed, Steve finds Eddie up in their bedroom folding a massive pile of laundry.

“Seems like you all had fun today," Steve says to him.

"Did they show you the door thing?" Eddie asks with a grin, "Yeah, they had a blast with that."

“Okay, you do realize that the lock on our door was our ticket to any kind of a sex life, right?”

Eddie blinks, the smile on his face slowly fading.

“Oh���yeah. Shit.”

“Yeah,” Steve repeats, “Nice going.”

i've already cried once today thinking about my homework, and i am Extremely Close to round 2 of crying breakdown

you want teachers to explain things in a way that makes sense? go fuck yourself

you want textbooks that explain things in a way that makes sense? you'll have better luck trying to read a rock. or smashing your skull in with the rock. either of those would be more productive

i've spent the last 6? 7? hours trying to wrap my head around drinking water treatment. i've gone over the chapter in my textbook, the recorded lecture, my notes from the first time i saw the lecture, my notes from the second time i saw the lecture, a youtube video with problem examples my teacher sent us, and my notes from the youtube video. none of it explains things in a way that makes sense

pretty sure my classmates all either used chegg or chatgpt to do their homework

i asked for an extension so i could have more time to try and wrap my head around this shit. nothing works

even if the thought of emailing a teacher and asking for help didn't fill me with more dread than final exam week, every time any of us have tried to ask for help the teacher for this class has just been confused at the concept of people not understanding this stuff right away

i thought i was just bad at navigating my local library system no turns out i was right. months ago when i was trying to find out. what do you meannnnnnnn the closest real libraries are 30-40 minutes away. what do you mean apparently i was actually spoiled by my shitfuck hometown's pretty good library growing up. and the bougie ass county full of rich ppl up the road doesnt have the resources for a decent library except inthe part of the county no one goes to???
