I love that so far in @littlecrittereli's Decoded I can't tell if he's actually alive or the haunting figment of Chris's trauma and I kind of LOVE that? So I wanted to draw him looming and frightening but he's not actually holding him down at all. The one who has the tight grip on him is Chris.

Tfa Sentinel gets sent to 'anger management classes' after a particularly large and public meltdown, and comes back a changed bot. He still makes fun of Optimus but it's not so meanspirited and cruel anymore. Now he's acting like he used to, when Elita was around. There are no words for how relieved Optimus is to have his old friend back. They talk, reconcile, and bond like old times.

Fast forward to Optimus capturing Megatron, with Sentinel's help of course. The Autobot council has decided that someone so powerful would be better off reprogrammed to serve the Autobot cause rather than just discarded. Optimus can sense genuine fear coming from Megatron at the prospect, and argues against it. The specialist, Trepan, just smiles at him.

"I understand how you feel. Many mechs have an instinctive negative reaction to the idea of reprogramming. But it's really not so bad! Just look at what it did for your friend here."

He points at Sentinel, and Optimus realizes.

I had a thought occur to me the other day. The last Stirling Singles retired in 1916... I think it's easy enough to say Emily could've arrived on the island during WW1. The fun part is who she has to work with though. The Island Of Sodor book says the NWR borrowed primarily from two mainland railways.

I’m wondering now about the idea of Megatron’s backstory essentially having the Senator Shockwave treatment. By which I mean, his fall to evil is instead something caused by someone else tampering with his mind and personality, presumably against his own will

Or I suppose the g1 Constructicon backstory also works as a similar analogy (specifically the brainwashed version of the story)

Like sure it kind of rids him of his agency in the matter, but like it would add an element of tragedy. Especially if like Shockwave, Orion/Optimus was a close friend of the old Megatron. Instead of watching his friend slowly descend into evil, his friend is taken away from him and replaced with this evil being wearing his frame. And maybe in this scenario, the reason why Optimus is hesitant to just kill Megatron is because he hopes some part of his old friend can still be saved, whether through him fighting the reprogramming or finding a cure for him

I don’t know why it just hit me now but what if it had been MIKEY who suggested in helping zog and it was Mikey who told Donnie to make the mask because Mikey is the heart so it makes perfect sense this was a Mikey arc!

Mikey certainly does connect with Zog the most - he's the one who pairs up with Zog, he's the one that screams for Zog when the Triceraton is facing off against Shredder. Mikey's even the one to name an ordinary triceratops after Zog in a later episode.

That said, I don't dislike that it was Don who suggested fixing up the breather for the poor guy. He's also very compassionate, as we see time and time again. I've noticed that Donnie's often the one to grab onto whatever civilian they're fleeing with - April, the Fugitoid, Renet etc.

Tbh, I liked how all the turtles felt kinda bad about Zog's predicament and how they handled it, to varying degrees. Leo's clearly very uncomfortable impersonating the guy's commanding officer, and it's actually Raph that screams out and tries to race after Zog when the Triceraton sacrifices himself so the turtles can escape.

As much as I feel a little bit uncomfortable with the episode - I don't like the idea of our heroes manipulating a delusional enemy into helping them - I can at least say that the Turtles all showed compassion for Zog in some ways.

The auto-mecha-detection-cube made to react to "intangible inexplicable unknown forces" and "extra-reality entities" originally going off in response to the hero. The cube having coffee spilled into it making it stop registering the hero. The hero drinking coffee, then having a seizure and dreaming of the galaxy exploding- the events just prior to the Reset. Like coffee is the way to register the change in the universe.

The fact that the hero's essence was incompatible with lock and key, that they're registered as an anomaly by Aequillibria, that their mana levels can't be read by manaphages (remnants of shadowscythe tech).

Sk'aar needing to 'consume certain aspects' of the dream world in order to wrest control of it from "its current master", that being the hero. People being the most complex and therefore best to consume- the best route to eventually consuming the hero themself.

The fact that Sk'aar was held off by coueage and stories- by memories, memories of friendship and camaraderie specifically. That it is described as relishing in the Hero's despair, that it can "turn the dream into a nightmare", wielding fear... and being defeated by hope. Just the same way that the Shadowscythe nanovirus was defeated- hope from the presence of a trusted friend and leader.

The fact that Lock and Key are storage units, charged with storing information from before the Reset, as well as something they couldn't contain- something that should have corrupted them. They instead "woke" after reaching symbiosis with that thing- that they can now act, but still have to do so working around their protocols. The fact that they are "a pair among many".

The fact that Aequillibria is clearly a computer system too... and "virus" has a meaning for computers just as much as for biology.

hi, so i just finished reading reprogrammed and decoded and the whole au has been rotating in my brain insanely, im actually obsessed. recently ive been wondering how the bros post-reprogrammed/decoded interact with their usual villains like donita, gourmand, or paisley. like, im imagining chris getting hit with donita’s pose beam and forced to model or something, flight of the dracos martin style, and im just so curious to see how that’d come out. would chris get flashbacks to diego because of the whole no bodily autonomy remote control thing, would donita even notice anything was wrong, how would martin + the tortuga crew react, etc!!

The first time I watched The Wild Robot, a cynical part of me was skeptical when all the animals set aside their instincts and started working together. What are the predators going to eat if not the prey animals? This isn't Zootopia, where they can go to the grocery store and buy vegan burgers or whatever. The movie had already established very bluntly that some animals eat other animals, so they can't just brush something like that under the rug, right?

I was willing to suspend my disbelief, though. It's a kids' movie about talking animals; even with the dark humor peppered throughout the movie, they weren't going to have these lovable characters literally eat each other, and that's okay. There are plenty of other movies that do the same. And it's not really the point of the movie anyway, so fussing about it is just going to ruin a good time.

But as I thought about it later, I suddenly remembered that passage from Isaiah 11:6-9:

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

In other words...the state of the island at the end of the movie is the way things are supposed to be. The way they will be in the end. Predator and prey living together, their young lying down in safety together (like they do in Roz's hut), no longer hurting or killing each other.

The island at the beginning of the movie is the way it is, full of death and fear, because of the Fall. The animals' very nature has been corrupted so they are incapable of seeing the possibility of life without killing and hunting. Until someone from the outside comes and shows them a better way. Someone who dies because of love, comes back to life because of love, and eventually leaves with the promise of returning one day. And now that island is forever changed, a model of the heavens and earth that is to come.
